Speaker 1 (00:05):
Faith Freedom Florida.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
This is the Brian mud show why Americans are gaining
weight despite burning more calories. And this is something that
is consistent what I'm getting ready to share you with
the MAHA or Make America Healthy Again movement SPAINA, which
if you're wondering what's going on with that right now,
you had doctor Oz talking about this yesterday. Actually what
(00:29):
the administration's efforts are focusing on right now going to
people who ended up entering medicine or even in the
case of some food companies from a nutritional perspective, but
maybe have lost their way a bit. Doctor Oz and
the FDA commissioner that he references here are currently going
(00:50):
around making this push.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Many people in these companies went into these businesses because
they fundamentally cared about health, but sometimes all of a sudden,
the dollars and cents confuse them and these are putting
profits over people.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Part of what Marty and I are doing is reminding
industry of why you went into the business. Right So,
when it comes to weight loss, there's only been a
simple saying that a key to losing weight eat less
and do more eless do more, and generally speaking, that
philosophy would applied should net some results. But if you've
(01:22):
ever found that you've been doing more, maybe a lot more,
like burning more calories, and yet even without eating more,
they're still not losing weight, we might finally have an explanation,
and it's one that is consistent with RK. Junior's MAHA
or Make America Healthy Again movement. Is a fascinating new
study from Duke University kind of flip this script on
(01:44):
a lot of what's driving our country's obesity epidemic. You
study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of
Sciences Global study of over four thousand adults across thirty
four different countries and population types, and what it revealed
was that it wasn't always a lack of exercise making
us healthy heavier. When it comes to what we eat,
(02:06):
it's not just about the calories we're eating. It's what
we're eating, where those calories are coming from, and specifically
the processing of that food. More than that in the moment.
The bottom line, Americans and folks and developed countries actually
were shown to burn more calories daily than people in
less developed countries, but even when adjusted for weight, the
(02:32):
outcome wasn't better burning more calories, not taking in any
moore relatively, but not doing well. What's happening here, well,
ultra processed foods. What the researchers found is that ultra
processed food so everything from sugary sodas, packaged foods, ready
(02:54):
to eat meals most of what you get. I think
when I did the research recently, seventy percent of what
it's on his store shelves our ultra process. So in
the twenty five populations with dietary data, the more processed
food people ate, the fatter they got, even when comparable
levels of calories were consumed. So the people same calories
(03:17):
actually moving a little bit more, and yet we're getting fatter.
And the reason they found is that the ultra processed
foods were easier to digest more the calories were being
absorbed into the body. So the more calorie clark intake
was being retained because of the ultra processed foods. And
(03:39):
so it's not just how many calories does this have,
it's how many calories is your body absorbing on top
of it more with the ultra process stuff. Not that
you thought the ultra process stuff was probably good for
you in the first place.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
But now you know, all right, let's got to look
