Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is the Coach Brian Moore Show with Opahlac. I
had football coach Brian Moore and now with Coach Moore,
the voice of the Bulldogs, Man.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Rigs, Welcome back in on the Brian Moore Shobers Inoby,
Glen Smiths, Chevy GMC and Opelak alongside Coach Brian Moore.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
I'm Van Riggs, coach.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Congratulations on a big win over Enterprise, a good crowd
out at Bulldog Stadium, seven and one, four and one
in region play and set up really good here for
the home stretch and I know it starts Friday against
Central Phoenix City.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
Yeah, obviously a huge game coming up, but really proud
of the way we played Friday night.
Speaker 5 (00:34):
You know, I thought it was our best start.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Well, there's no question it was our best start, and
just really on clicking on all phases.
Speaker 5 (00:40):
You know, defense who played.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Extremely well early, had some pre announced create a turnover.
Defense kept getting us the ball back offensively, and then
you know we were able to run the football. The
first drive was the best opener we've had this year.
And then we drive too was just as good. We
got some short fields. I did have to settle for
some field goals. Rees kicked it really well. But of
you know, proud of our team and you know, in
(01:02):
a kind of a weird week, I guess, a distracting
type week. Proud of the way that we overcame that
and really stayed locked in and focused. Our crowd was unbelievable,
and obviously we hope that will happen again.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
We know it will happen again against Central. So the
only thing, you know, I guess.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Any negative in the game, you know, coach speak here,
is that we didn't do a great job to finish.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
You know, the game.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
The third quarter was not good. We got behind the sticks.
We were off schedule, whereas in the first half we
were on schedule the whole ball game, you know, and
sometimes you have to learn. I told the kids, I
called them up. It was twenty seven and seven and
a half. We're a little frustrated with the last drive. Defensively,
I thought we relaxed a little bit and they drove
and scored and got the ball back after half, so
I thought that could be a momentum swing. But I
brought the kids in and said, look, man, we got
(01:44):
to learnet and had this type of lead ever really
in your career again in a big game, and you
got to learn to finish those games. So we worked
hard on that and I expect this to be better
and hopefully we'll have that opportunity going forward.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
I know we're going to talk to the offensive lineman
on today's show. They've really been paid the way for
this run game. And that's what you did. You really
just hit him in the mouth right out of the gate.
And boy, believe, Blake Johnson continues to dominate in the trenches,
no doubt.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
And you know, not only you know, Blake, but Jordan
and Calvin played really well. Tommy Johnson's played great. Yeah,
really really proud of our offensive line, you know, playing
eight guys up there that we continue to rotate through,
and six of them are seniors, so we don't love
that number. You know, We're proud for now and happy
for now. But in the future, you know, those guys
who played a lot of football and are really good players,
and you know, I'm just proud of you know, last
(02:29):
week we really challenged it. I didn't think against Pike
Road or Dothan upfront, we played great in the game.
I thought, you know, we needed to take our you know,
because I think we can be like elite. I think
our offensive line can be incredible. And so I thought
coach Fleming did an incredible job last week of challenging
those guys, and Coach Atkins got down there and coach
Jefferson and really challenged them to be better.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
And I thought right off the.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Jump, man, we had several knockdowns, you know, the game
was chippy, and I was proud of the way that
they didn't you know, it's it's what people don't see
is the things that go on down there, you know,
and in that those and that sort of thing, and
our kids to keep their composure and kind of a
tough night, I thought was really huge for us. And
again proud of them, but yeah, paving the way there early.
We snapped at thirty four times in the first half,
(03:11):
which was really huge, ran for two hundred and forty
yards in the game, over six yards of carry, and
ran for several touchdowns in the game. So, uh, proud
of them. And hey, some of the time that you know,
the other team knew what was coming, you know, and
for our guys to basically say, hey, it's coming right there,
and we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna run over you anyway.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
I thought was really big, and I think it's who
we have to be.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
I think we got to play clock management, controlled the
line of scrimmage on both sides. That's our recipe for success,
so hopefully we can do it again. Obviously, the level
of opponent is really good going forward.
Speaker 5 (03:40):
You know, both you know.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Uh Carver and Central upfront are really good, really athletic upfront.
We'll challenge, so we'll have to continue to raise our
level and continue to improve every week.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
I don't know the numbers passing right on now, but
you didn't have to pass it a whole lot Friday night,
but when you did, you were able to move the
ball down the field through the air.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Yeah, for sure. I thought Quiz had a big night.
You know, he had a couple of catches.
Speaker 5 (03:59):
I thought we're really good. Brody had to catch.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
I think it was the first night that every one
of our rotational guys had a touch. So Drew had
a big catch early to get us into third, and
one I thought was a massive play, you know, I
just thought that overall, you know, the touches were really good.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
I think we threw it like eight times or something
like that.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
But you know, we were talking about it off the air,
you know, that was kind of after the first half
is twenty seven to seven, don't beat yourself. You know,
obviously we'd like to push that lead out. So some
of the conservative you know, part of that was me saying, look, guys,
if we go out there and run the clock and
get into four minute offense and that sort of thing,
that can't beat us.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
You know, they're too far behind.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
What we can do, though, is hurt ourselves by throwing
a pick or scoop and score fumble or something like that.
You know, that can put them back in this ball again.
But otherwise, run the clock. Let's get out of here
with a big region win. And then that's exactly what
we did.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Don't I have to tell the guys much about Central
Phoenix City A huge rivalry. I think it's the eighty
second leading coming up Friday night. It's their longest rivalry
against Opalaik in the second for Opalaika and played them
good last year, beat him the year before, And I
know going into the this one a lot on the
line could wrap up a number two see potentially with
a win Friday.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Night, huge and that would be home field advantage, so
obviously for both of us, really the winner can do that,
you know, with their win over Carver this past week.
Obviously Central is really good. They're number two in the state.
I mean them and Auburn. That was up, you know,
up in the air to who wins that ball game late,
just like our game with Auburn. I really feel like US, Auburn, Calrver,
and Central are all right there together. I think all
(05:23):
four of us have really good football teams. Maybe for
the best in Alabama. I think that I think we are.
And you know, obviously being at home is really really important.
Opelaca has played Central well all the way back to
when I was here before. We played them every year,
you know, all eight years I was here before. I
don't remember what the record overall was, but it was
back and forth.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
You know.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
I could think back on the days with Jonathan Wallace
and some of those guys were coming, great players at
Central and you know the kid that went to Louisville
and just all these guys that are just special players.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
And they got that again. You know, a great receiver
in Upshall.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
They got a great d lineman that's a junior or
a defensive end that's a special player. They run extremely
well obviously, Coach Nicks does a great job with them. Schematically,
very different, more like Auburn than we've seen the last
few weeks.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
Throw the ball around them.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Auburn and Pike Road all have incredible cues, you know,
so they can he can make every throw. I think
he was a seven a first team All State kid
a year ago with a state championship under his belt.
So he's a great player, great weapons outside everywhere, great
left tackle this going. I think Alabama, you know, they've
got SEC guys running around out there, and so two
really good running backs wherever work cut out for us.
(06:28):
But again it's something with our players. You know, they
play Central every year, Central Auburn every level every year.
So it's not a deal where they're not familiar with
their kids, you know, and so I think that gives
an advantage, you know, to the way we see Central,
you know, and the way opelike. Historically, it's been a
great rivalry. Again, one that's been back and forth.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
I don't know the overall.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
Standings, but one that's been very balanced, and it'll be
electric and what we'll have to do keys you know,
we got to really tackle. They put you in those
one on ones defensively to where man, you know you're
gonna be one on one with the guy in's face.
That's a really really good athlete and you're gonna have
to get him on the ground, you know, by yourself.
Because again the way they flipped the ball around, run
those RPOs or game changers. And then for us offensively,
(07:10):
you know, we got to control the ball. I mean,
we've got to be able to run it, and we've
got to be able to turn out first downs. And
it's all about the snap count. I challenge the kid,
as I said, he ay man, we snap it sixty
times on offense.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
I'm gonna feed you a steak on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
If we tackle solo tackles we have ten plus in
the game, I'm gonna feed the defensive stake on Sunday.
So that's what we're gonna do. You know, that's our recipe,
and that's no secret. I'm not giving away any information.
We need to stay on the field offensively and keep
our defense off the field as much as we can.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yeah, no big secret here either. Like just like you
know for central field position will be key in this game.
Anytime you have a big game, special teams always comes
into play, whether you kick the ball shore or give
them good field position and field goals can be big.
It was the game winner a couple of years ago
here Bulldog Stadium.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
There's no doubt, and we've been good there. You know,
I thought Friday night we played really well against Enterprise
in the special teams phase. You know, we didn't have
any return game issues. Field position was not a great
different between us and Enterprise, but I thought, you know,
we did a great job of not kicking it deep
to four and five with Enterprise, and you know with Central,
the problem with them is they're all elite returners, you know,
(08:09):
all eleven on the on the return phase can take
it to the house. So like even the frontline guys
are skill guys, and so you know we'll have to
do our a great job of covering, you know, laying integrity,
getting guys on the ground, same thing. Those solo tackles
have to play there, and then you know we got
to make Pats and Phil goals when they're there. And
Recee was three for three this past Friday and did
a great job. So you know, the special teams will
(08:31):
be huge because a game like this, I think this
is the most evenly matched of any game we've played
this year. Maybe maybe the Auburn game was closed, but
these two teams, you know, one break here there, one
mistake here or there can cost you.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
The ball game.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
So we've got to do a great job of being
really clean, take care of the football.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
We can't turn it.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
Oh, we got to be able to run and stop
the run and then tackle in space, like I mentioned,
But special teams will be a huge factor in this game.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Friday, eight straight games for your team, coach, how's everybody feeling.
I know, if fall break was this week, maybe a
little extra rest for the guys.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Yeah, I hope, so, I hope they're taking advantage of it.
You know, we're like anybody.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
We got ankles and shoulders and we're a little banged up.
But you know, we were thankful Carson had the big
you know, took a big shot Friday night, and he's
fine and practiced all week and been great in the
game too.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Got back in the game, you.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
Know, luckily, you know, it was a clean deal and
it didn't hit him in the back of the head.
That's kind of where the concussions typically happened, and so
he was fine.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
Dot was out there.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
You know, appreciate our medical staff, doctor Wilson and orthopedic clinic,
everybody involved. They were right there because it was a
scary deal. But everybody's ready to go. You know, everybody
except Bennett and Brandon Massey will play in the game,
and Bennett's really close. So we're fortunate to be where
we are again. Obviously, the season has had its wear
and tear on us. It's crazy, man, Van We're eight
(09:42):
days from the end of the regular season already.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
It's just as insane. You know.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
We play next Thursday, and so we're eight days away
from that. But we need that bye week prior to
the playoffs. And again this Friday is massive for us
in our seating and to be able to play a
playoff game in Bulldog Stadium because from my career being here,
there's nothing like that to when when you're in November
playing at home in Bulldog Stadium. It's a huge advantage
and we hope to get that done this Friday.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Yeah, and never fans that are watching this before the
game Friday night, I know there was a good crowd
Friday night, but they were still open seats. So we
need to fill Bulldog Stadium. It's Max's capacity for Friday
night's game.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
We need everybody, and we need them there early, and
we need them at Dogwall. You know, I've had.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
Several parents texts and say, hey, you know, how do
we encourage people to be here? I'm like, it's hope,
like a central we should have to encourage people to
be here.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
This is a big night anyway. But I will say this,
our kids.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
Have handled all that stuff, whether it's been on the
road at Dothan or big games like at Ben Russell
that was really really crowded, impact and loud.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
We've handled everything. The game with the enterprise.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
Obviously, we started really fast, so I don't think the
moment's too big for us. You know, I think that
our guys are locked and loaded and ready to go,
and I think that, you know, the crowd only helps
us with our energy obviously, Like I always mentioned, our
band and our cheerleaders and everybody involved, our support staff
people and all the people running the jumbo trone and
the music and everything. It's created an atmosphere and once
again I'll stand by it. It's an experience for young people.
(11:01):
That's what we're here to do.
Speaker 6 (11:02):
We want to win.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
I want to win, I promise you, and we work
our tails off to do that, and our kids work
so hard. But it's about the experience and what an
electric environment it should be Friday night with incredible football
weather finally cooling down, so we're excited about the opportunity
and ready to play in front of our home crowd.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Don't forget Thursday.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
It's Coach Moore's luncheon at First Baptist Church, Opalaikah. It
starts at noon and we'll wrap up and won a
great preview of the game coming up for Friday night.
And again that is Thursday at noon, First Baptist Church
in Opalaika. Coach, we got Jared Fleming back for the
second time on the show coming up next.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
I think this is the Coach Moore Fleming Show.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
I think we've hyphenated the show for Coach Fleming. I
heard that he was a self proclaimed guy that needed
his own space.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
But no, man, I want to get the lunch Thursday.
What a Flemming week.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
I know you know what a week, but no, I
do want to I want to brag on Coach and
the job he's doing, and the job are these eight
rotational guys you're getting ready to interview do. And you
know I will say this and we Coach Fleming, I
talked about this. We've got big people here, you know,
and we finally have you know, weight moves weight. This
is a big man's game.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
You know.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
The days of one hundred and ninety pounds guards are over,
you know, And so you know, we've got these these
kids that have done a great job in the weight
room and the job Kate McGee's done with them and
the job their parents have done feeding them and getting
them ready to go. So proud to coach Flym his group.
And listen, I stand by this. We go as far
as this offensive line takes us. I mean, you know,
we obviously have other pieces that have to be great,
(12:24):
but we have to be able to line up and
run the football regardless of who knows where it's going.
And you know what the down and distance is. We
got to be able to make those third and ones
and fourth and ones. It will be the difference in
our season. And I completely hang my hat on this
group and trust that they're gonna get it done.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
All right, We'll talk to the big guys up front
and Coach Fleming on the way next on The Brian
Moore Show, We're back here on The Brian Moore Show,
presented by Glen Smiths Chevy gmcing Opalaika. We got some
offensive linemen with us from the Bulldogs and also offensive
line coach Jared Fleming and Jared tell us a little
bit about the three guys we got here with us.
Speaker 6 (12:56):
Now, well, we've got three seniors here. We got starting
left tackle. Sorry, look at the camera, gotta starting left tackle.
Speaker 7 (13:03):
Traymon Thomas back here. Number seventy two on the field,
but number one of your hearts for sure. Who's been
really a staple for the offensive line for a while.
I started getting a playing time as a sophomore and
then junior year started right tackle and played every almost
every snap I think that year. Really, uh, he was
our backup left tackle for a couple Actually he started
a left tackle a couple games last year right because
(13:25):
we had a suspension of a certain left tackle that
was senior last year is gone, and then been our
left tackle since you know, obviously the season ended. Has
been really a the guy he's got to be for
us on Friday's at anchor. You know, it's obviously every
left tackle is for right handed quarterback, and who's done
a great job of really taking that that job. I
think seriously, you kind of see he's one of those
(13:46):
He's one of those guys who works on his craft
and uh really really knows it's about the job getting done.
And that's one of the things I really've always loved
about him. Since he was a sophomore, he's.
Speaker 6 (13:55):
Been hit me up with questions, you know, asking my coach,
what about this? What about this?
Speaker 7 (14:00):
I think he probably get he's a little more confident
now those questions don't come as much. I think he's
kind of getting figured out. So I kind of got
to go to him and make sure, uh, you know
some things. But he's one of those guys you can
have conversations with about offensive line stuff, which really no
means you have a lot of understanding about what you're doing.
Speaker 6 (14:16):
Next.
Speaker 7 (14:16):
Tip over here is Jackson Lee our center really for
it's funny story.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
He came in.
Speaker 7 (14:23):
You know, he moved from Lee Scott this past year
and uh, in the spring really played a bunch of
positions trying to find out where he went.
Speaker 6 (14:30):
He never really played center.
Speaker 7 (14:31):
Before, and I think you know, Kyle had was wrestling
at the time, so he wasn't able to be there
to be our center, which is kind of our plan
going into this year, was Kyle be the center.
Speaker 6 (14:41):
So he had to like Jackson had to snap.
Speaker 7 (14:43):
We didn't have anybody else really because we had another
guy who was doing it but wasn't able to be
there every day as well. So he got a lot
of experience and kind of took and ran with it
and just ever since then, it was just really honestly,
he's bald out at that position, does a lot of
things that are you know, you don't really coach and
you have to know and I have the understanding of
the game. So he's really shown his football like you
(15:04):
this season, I think, in that position and made some
highlight plays doing it. And then Kyle here, who's been
you know, a dog for a long time as well,
kind of like Treymond played something sophomore year and they
he started his junior year like every game, have you always.
Speaker 6 (15:19):
Been a left guard?
Speaker 7 (15:20):
We've always been left guard since he's been playing. But
really it's been that like I guess you might call
him the nasty boy. You know what I mean, who's
got to get in there and just got to get
dirty and get a job done. And really the past
three weeks is playing the best football of his life
in my opinion, and that's coincided with played in the
best three teams really we've played in the you know
all year other than the Auburn game, which they he
(15:41):
played great against them too, But like it's gotten better
and better each week for this guy as far as
playing physical and just knowing his job and being on
it every time. So it's been really impressive to watch
all three of these guys.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
YEA develop a couple of questions for each player. Kyle,
just talk about playing Central. I know you played them
multiple times in your career. I know you're excited to
get this going Friday nine.
Speaker 8 (16:01):
Yes, sir, we've played them, played them last year. They
had a lot more star power in the middle, their
noseguard and their tackles inside. This year, they're a little
bit smaller, but they're a lot faster, and they come
at you with those high motors.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
All of them. All of them have high motors.
Speaker 8 (16:17):
You kind of just got to lock them down and
get your hands on them and don't let them get
past you.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Yeah, Jackson will swip over to you real quick. Talk
about you know, being over here in Opalaca. I know
you come up from the AISA. Level of competition went
up quite a bit going to seven A football and
a team like Central.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
You had missed to beat this center this year.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
Talk about, you know, the level of competition and what
it's been like playing it up block in the season.
It's a lot harder than it was back at least, Scott,
but I got like a lot of confidence in myself
that I can do it.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
That'sactly why I came here to prove it to myself.
Speaker 7 (16:46):
And yeah, honest with everybody else, he does have confidence.
I will say that is a confident individual. What hell
is that you got to have that position for real?
Speaker 2 (16:52):
And Snaps have been outstandings this season, and I mean
and so Jackson has been a challenge or learning curve
with that, it seems like you've done a good job.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
No, I kind of like get zoned in, so like,
don't worry about it.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
It just happens.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Yeah, Tray mind, we had your media days. I know
you love the microphone, you love the spotlin talk about uh,
talk about the season so far, and I coach Biliving
really bragged on you and then the work you put
in uh on.
Speaker 6 (17:18):
The season one very good for us.
Speaker 9 (17:20):
Uh just.
Speaker 6 (17:23):
Hate the playoffs, man, what's about it? Postseason off?
Speaker 7 (17:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (17:27):
How would how would it feel to get to the playoffs?
Maybe that home field advantage?
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Uh, well, that's right.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
It is.
Speaker 7 (17:35):
I mean the playoff game that at home we haven't
had in a while, you of y'all senior year.
Speaker 6 (17:41):
I think it's a big time. You know, you had
to put on in front of the city.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
You know.
Speaker 7 (17:44):
I think these guys deserve it, for sure, said opportunity.
Just kind of go out in there and earn it now.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
You know.
Speaker 6 (17:50):
Uh what about you? Man?
Speaker 7 (17:52):
You got a big matchup for Friday night, No, no go.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
A pretty good pass rusher.
Speaker 7 (18:00):
But I mean we've just they've been we've been taking
steps forward and forward. I think that, you know, we
got pretty good plan. I'm excited about I'm excited about
the matchup. We just saw a really good pass rush.
Speaker 6 (18:07):
For Friday night and you would even know who's out there,
if you know, for the most of the game.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (18:11):
Well I was pretty pretty happy by that for sure.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Great, great work by the offensive line. No, doubt about it.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
These three have done an outstanding job, and we've got
more offensive linemen that will join us coming up next.
We'll take a quick break and come back with more.
Right here on The Brian Moore Show, continuing our visit
with offensive lineman here as our guest, and here on
the Brian Moore Show, offensive line coach Chier and Fleming
joining up with us, and we got some.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
More offensive lineman. Coach, you introduced us to this right Well,
what we got here.
Speaker 6 (18:34):
Is all right tackles. We have David Miller, who's.
Speaker 7 (18:36):
A senior, and we have Eric Mason, who is a junior.
And I introduced them together because really they're one position.
Like there's not like I mean, you know, some they
both started on Friday nights and games, but they both
play almost like the exact amount of snaps.
Speaker 6 (18:49):
It's really they're like a two headed monster.
Speaker 7 (18:51):
And we do it that way just because they both
play so well off each other. I mean, they just
like one goes in the game, another comes in fresh
and they're just such a great one two punch of
you know, almost like people talk about like running backs
that changed the pace. You know, it's kind of like
that you know, throw the throw the defense off. But
they really play well off each other. They fight, they
push each other, and like I said, I think that
(19:12):
it makes them both better for the whole game. That's
really been a rock solid position here these past couple
of weeks. It has been improving so much, and both
these guys have improved. You know, Eric's underclassman, didn't get
much playing time last year, so just to step into
and make the growth he's made has been a really
big time. We call him Friday Night Eric because of
the sophomore. You remember Friday Night Eric, sophomore. You know,
(19:33):
we look forward to step up during the week. You know,
he's kind of like young and kind of timid, but
on Friday Night, man, he would just turn it up,
you know, just just cranking, cranking on.
Speaker 6 (19:41):
And then David made a position change in the beind
of the year.
Speaker 7 (19:43):
He's been a tight end for us all his life,
you know, but we really had a need and we asked.
Speaker 6 (19:49):
Him to and he's taken to it really well.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
He was.
Speaker 7 (19:51):
I think he's pretty nervous at the beginning, but I
think he saw how much he was gonna play might
have helped.
Speaker 6 (19:55):
I don't know what you think, Uh.
Speaker 10 (19:56):
Yeah, beginning I liked tight end quite a bit, but
once I made the change, it was just fell in
the place.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
It felt more natural. All big guys like they really
catch the ball than anything. Right.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
There's a lot more bigger guys lined up across from
you though at tackle.
Speaker 6 (20:11):
With which are titles this year. Asked to do a
lot too that we got. We had a good group
of guys there as well. But uh, how do you
feeling about the season so far?
Speaker 10 (20:20):
Yeah, I feel I feel pretty good as we like
swap out and stuff and also learning uh left tackle
as well.
Speaker 6 (20:27):
Try you are the back back of left tackle.
Speaker 10 (20:29):
Feel very like versatile and can play where I needed
for sure.
Speaker 6 (20:34):
Eric, How do you feel about the seasons so far?
Speaker 11 (20:36):
Man, I mean, I mean it going I mean, I
mean it's going great. But at the same time, I
feel like we can do more stuff, like more better
than what we've been doing, like fat pacing and all
that playing fast paced.
Speaker 6 (20:53):
I think I agree.
Speaker 7 (20:54):
We definitely can pick our tempo up, for sure, but
we are improving. That's the big thing too, right.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Yes, now, Eric, you're one of the juniors on the
offensive line that's getting a lot of play in time
there's been a pretty big senior handing group up front there.
What do you think about the group coming in maybe
next year.
Speaker 11 (21:09):
I'm just twind let's see play high plead this year.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Get more bitting.
Speaker 6 (21:13):
Yeah, who's that?
Speaker 5 (21:14):
Who's that?
Speaker 7 (21:14):
Who's another junior in the class we're excited about. We
got say his name on here, his name lit live
on here, Bobby Trees.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Everybody you think about going up against Central, I know
it's a the long rivalry. Everybody familiar with Central.
Speaker 7 (21:29):
I'll get it over with everything locked in all the
week for all say that he's always locked in on
on on the game play during the week.
Speaker 6 (21:35):
That's what you love about him too, That's right.
Speaker 7 (21:37):
Uh, David, any big challenges we got coming up, anything
that we did to take a step forward on.
Speaker 6 (21:44):
Level, stay in the lowest. I like that. That's a
lot of coaches love hearing that.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
All right, Well, hopefully we'll see big things from David
and Eric and we'll continue with more offensive lineman. Here's
where spotlight the guys up front in the trenches will
continue with more on the Brian Moore Show right after
this all right, final segment here on The Ryan Moore
Show with the guys up front. We've been talking offensive
line with coach Jared Fleming. We've got another group, another
three group here and UH talk about the trio here.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
We got coach flynt all right.
Speaker 6 (22:08):
We got we've got a trio of guards here.
Speaker 7 (22:11):
We have two seniors over here to my left, and
we have sophomore right here.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
This is Keeling Jones. We call him Big Keeling.
Speaker 7 (22:20):
He's been with us for he came back to start,
played in freshman year a right came back to start,
played this freshman year again.
Speaker 6 (22:25):
Who's really really blossomed.
Speaker 7 (22:27):
I feel like this past season, you know, we've always
seen the potential, and I think especially the past few weeks,
you've really seen him take over.
Speaker 6 (22:33):
He's had he's kind of gotten called in us and
playing time.
Speaker 7 (22:35):
Really, you know, Deebo got hurt, so we had him
and Carmel had to get a lot more. Really has
had to be a guy who could be consistent for
us when he does play. He's not a full time starter,
but he's a guy who's always got to be ready
to go, who could play multiple positions. Really played tackle,
he's played guard on both sides. Carmel is also a senior.
UH he's a transfer from defensive line to us. A
(22:57):
couple of years ago we had these crossover days where
he had two positions and he would do some with
us and you know, kind of seeing it. Then he
took to it pretty well, but just never stuck around
with us. Kind of bad to go back to defense
And I wish I would have like followed a little
more to keep him on our side more, because even
with less than a year of training, the dude's really
grown and just can I mean, especially when he gets
the space do pools.
Speaker 6 (23:18):
He's all over. Uh.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
Probably probably one of my favorite highlights of the game
of the of the year was when he had his
big pool on.
Speaker 6 (23:24):
Ah was it against Jag who gets callaway?
Speaker 7 (23:28):
Just it's on pos It's a poster on the walls
at the in the meeting room, just demolishing this guy
in space. It was amazing Calvin running round behind and
hunting him. Darius, who is a is a sophomore, so
youngest guy with us on our office line is starting
call him Debo, Uh, Big Debo, Little Debo, baby Debo. Uh,
cause he's got a bunch of name you can call him
(23:48):
really really whatever you want to. Before debo if it works. Uh,
but started as a sophomore just because you know, he
came out there and really really impressed with how physical
he is. The big challenge with him was he gonna
learn to playbook and really is taking that as well.
Kind of has a good sense for offensive line play.
So yeah, three eight great guys are a lot.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Of fun too.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Just pass the micro around before we'll start over here
and just talk talk about the central game and goals
for the rest of the season.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
I know getting to the playoffs will be big.
Speaker 10 (24:15):
Mm hmmm.
Speaker 11 (24:18):
Social game up front is being able to play aggressive
and not beat guys out the way so we can
run a few.
Speaker 6 (24:25):
It's a great answer.
Speaker 9 (24:26):
Yeah, yeah, I feel like that's the thing that we
could do. I feel like a thing that we could
do to help us win or just dominate in general
upfront is win the line of scrimmage. And like Keila said,
(24:47):
move the big guys up front.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
You already got a poster, So do you need to
get another poster. I think we need to get you
two or three more posters.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Right He's only a.
Speaker 7 (24:57):
Line with his own poster right now, like a trading card.
You know what I'm saying like a Joe Burrow card.
But Carmell, what you've been doing in the past two weeks?
Speaker 5 (25:05):
Though past two weeks?
Speaker 9 (25:06):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (25:06):
He from my case, you.
Speaker 6 (25:07):
Had a concussion.
Speaker 7 (25:08):
You want to talk about your concussion gear and all
that you had to wear on the sideline?
Speaker 9 (25:14):
Uh, sunglasses, I know what pass.
Speaker 5 (25:17):
I wore.
Speaker 6 (25:20):
Hoodie on.
Speaker 9 (25:20):
Yeah, you called me Rachel.
Speaker 7 (25:24):
He had this hoodie on and he had sunglasses on
and he was just I'm just looking at otherybody. Also
I see him like this just stone call looking right
like you know, I know he's looking at.
Speaker 6 (25:33):
Me, just dead and the dead and the soul. Those
sunglasses and.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Go like give you chills.
Speaker 7 (25:39):
But yeah, you guys got any questions from Darius? You
guys shoot him a question.
Speaker 12 (25:45):
Question.
Speaker 9 (25:48):
I haven't got no question.
Speaker 5 (25:49):
You got a question?
Speaker 6 (25:50):
Man? I put you on here for a reason.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
All the people we get it to Darius.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
Darius, make sure the showing what you gotta say.
Speaker 12 (25:59):
I honestly, in my opinion, to win up front, I
think it's a big thing. Is we just gotta be
pheelical because we know that they they're a loing. Know
they're not as big as last year, but they're they're fast, physical,
they could shad blocks, and we've been working a lot
this week on shading blocks. So it's gonna be about
staying on the blocks, just pushing them the ground and
run it down.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
They thought to be honest, Darius to to be getting
playing time as a sophomore where it's great, but it's
gotta be pretty big for you.
Speaker 12 (26:22):
You know, back in the spring, I couldn't believe it
could like because you know, Jackson was right right at
third he could he could play. So the spring game
got I got to start in the spring game, so
I was nervy after a while.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
It's really not that.
Speaker 12 (26:35):
It's really not that bad once you got to get
in and set it in and I just been I
just been playing there. Set it's just like another game
for me.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
As coach for Kraken would say, since it's almost the
season's over and you're a sophomore, you're pretty.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
Much a junior now. So yeah, no, no longer a sophomore,
right for.
Speaker 7 (26:47):
Sure, And we've got challenge and that a couple of
weeks ago, like it's time to start playing like an
upper class like a red shirt sophomore is when I
told him.
Speaker 6 (26:54):
But yeah, it's been a big time to see him.
He looks like he has funly play football too.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
Yeah, right, challenge for how ready to go?
Speaker 6 (27:03):
How many to go bags did you have dinner last night?
Speaker 10 (27:05):
You know.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
Two?
Speaker 6 (27:08):
Had like three or four?
Speaker 7 (27:09):
It's like in this the hoodie pocket, just like to
go bags of food just in there. What I was
wondering for the gatory somebody finding a free son.
Speaker 6 (27:17):
I didn't even see those.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Hey, you know they said the big, big, big dogs
got to eat, right big dogs? Did they did any
last night?
Speaker 5 (27:22):
And that's for sure?
Speaker 6 (27:23):
You can trade had a full steak and I think
you had a little more than one steak. Honestly.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
There you go. Yeah, good to see that mass. Why
he's quiet today?
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Hey, don't forget of course of Brian Moore Luncheon coming
up on Thursday. These guys will be there so you
get to see them all eat. So he can get
plenty to eat on Thursday at the Coach Brian Moore
Luncheon and again that's noon till one at First Baptist
Church and ople like and looking forward to seeing these
guys put on a good show Friday night. Make sure
and join us back next week on the Brian Moore Show.
It'll be a short week as the Dogs will head
(27:52):
on the road to finish up the regular season against
Carver on a Thursday night in Montgomery.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
That's next week. On The Brian Moore Show, said, I
love it.
Speaker 5 (27:59):
For you
Speaker 6 (28:02):
Speak tot Spik, speak to rote, speak to spe
