(00:00):
It's iHeartRadio Erica DeLong here with doctorLyle with Lyle Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Center,
and doctor Lyle comes on a regularbasis giving us the scoop on how
to remain useful, Which you havenew devices that we need to hear about.
Good to see you. Yeah, you know, as we've talked about
in the past, I have alot of devices in my office that are
sort of non invasive, and Iwant to talk a little bit about some

(00:23):
of the things that I use duringsurgery that are tools or instruments that help
enhance results. So one of themis and these are not really new,
so to speak, but they are. I'm starting to use them more.
I'm learning more about them. Oneof them is a device called Renewvion,

(00:44):
which is a basically a skin tightener, but it's an invasive skin tightener.
It's not like these external treatments thatyou put on and you need a series
of treatments to help tighten skin. But this is one you use as like
an adjunct to surgery. So ifyou do liposuction or you do some other
treatments that it's the only FDA cleardevice that actually induces radiofrequency energy Okay,

(01:14):
you know that's heat. Basically, anything that's gonna shrink collagen, which is
the target of skin tightening, usesradiofrequency energy and it delivers it in with
helium gas. And I may havetalked about this a while back, but
now, how is this different fromall therapy or soft wave which they're also

(01:36):
heating up right, So those areexternal devices. They use ultrasonic energy.
But a common denominator of these thingsis that energy is creates heat, and
this is radiofrequency energy. But whatit does is it delivers like a spark
almost and you have to deliver itwith a gas. So the gas that

(01:59):
we use helium and helium will coolthat spark down immediately so you don't burn
the skin. So obviously you haveto be very skilled to use this device
and know what you're doing. Youdo, but you also the failsafe of
this is that the device actually hasthis built in system to prevent you from

(02:22):
burning patients. Like some of thedevices I've had in the past, to
deliver energy, you have to monitorthe temperature of it so that you don't
burn skin because what you're doing isyou're trying to heat the collagen fibers that
you've exposed through liposuction or other means. But this is inside the skin,
not on the surface of the skin. So then so the gas goes into

(02:46):
the tissue. So literally when you'redoing it, your tissue kind of puffs
up a little bit and you haveto have a little tiny nick in the
skin to let the air get outof the gas get out, and it
will heat that cologen that it's exposedto up to eighty five degrees celsius,
which is like that would burn yourskin, but it cools it down immediately,

(03:07):
so you don't even have to monitorthe skin because it's not going to
burn you unless you touch the thingto the skin. And that's where the
skill and the safety is involved. And this is super important. So you're
going in to get LiPo because you'vegot that bold or maybe your enter thighed,
but you need that tightening to helpkeep things smooth because if not,
it can still be dimply regardless ofgetting a lip or suction. Right,

(03:29):
So, like for instance, liposuction, the best patients have tight skin and
just that deposits well. You know, maybe in your twenties you have that,
but as you get older and youhave kids, you don't have that
and you lose that, you know, you lose the elasticity. And so
one example is, you know, liposuction. So I have a device called

(03:52):
Vaser, which is an ultrasonic energydevice that helps to shatter the fat and
then you still have to suck suctionit out that has some ability to tighten.
As a matter of fact, Iliked that device because it does tighten
skin more than traditional liposuction. ButRenewvion is like an add on, so
you don't have to use it foreveryone, but if you're really trying to

(04:15):
tighten the skin up at the timeof liposuction, there's some people are using
it for even facial surgery. Theynow have a new smaller hand piece that
you can make a little nick inthe skin and tighten the skin around the
face. So this is some somenewer add ons to this device that I've

(04:38):
had the device for about three years. But I just got back from Las
Vegas where they had their what theycall their users meetings, So it was
only people that got invited were peoplethat have the device, so they weren't
trying to sell you it. Theywere just trying to kind of educate you.
So I spent you know, aday, two days there, just
learning new indications, new things, some very innovative people out there that are

(05:02):
taking that same technology but now usingit for other things. Now, do
you see the results instantly or isit kind of like you have to wait
for swelling to go down afterwards? You have to wait for you to wait.
You have to wait. And sothat's the that's the bottom. That's
the nature of all devices like this. The only thing that truly you'll see
an immediate result, and in mostcases is like surgical procedures where you're cutting

(05:27):
and pulling in your you know, removing extra skin, facelifting, breastlifting.
But even that requires downtown for theswelling to go down. Yeah. Yeah,
And so I always tell people,I mean, three months is sort
of a target, you know, and things get better even at six months.
But you know, we generally tellpatients for almost anything we do,

(05:47):
you know you're going to see yourmajor improvement at about three months. Now,
that doesn't mean you don't see someimprovement or sometimes major improvement early.
You know, things like an eyelid surgery, I mean eyelid surgery,
you usually see it like within acouple of weeks. A tummy tuck and
and some other things. You know, yes, you'll see an immediate difference,

(06:09):
but it takes time for swelling andthings like that. And it's the
same with this device, the samethe same kind of time. It takes
time for the collagen to shrink. It's not I wish we had a shrink
wrapping device that just you know, instantly, yeah, instantly, like you
like put a vacuum around it andsucks it. And I mean we don't
have that now. Questions about antiaging, so renev On, this is

(06:31):
the new device. You've had itfor three years, but it's becoming more
and more popular. Are there otherdevices that are very beneficial for women and
men that are trying to you know, stay as youthful as possible as long
as they can. Yeah, yeah, I mean I have I have like
what we call non invasive, Sothose are external heating devices, and one
of them also uses radio frequency energy. I have a device called Sinosure's Temperature,

(06:59):
which is a external heating It takesmultiple treatments. It's not going to
give you the same sort of dramaticresults, but we're finding it's good for
cellulite and you know, generalize looseskin. I think it's still the holy
grail to find something that's going tobe like a one time thing. You
mentioned software for all therapy. Thoseare things that even you know when you

(07:25):
do them, you're not no one'sgoing to tell you that, Yeah,
I look at yourself in a weekand you look how good you look?
It takes at least three months andsome time I did software with you,
and your tag was so knowledgeable, but she's like, you have to have
patience. That's part of the process. You didn't get like this overnight.
It takes some time to get ittightened back up right. And honestly,
that's why whenever you're doing this, you really have to look at before and

(07:46):
after pictures, and that's why it'sso important. Whether it's one of those
devices or botox or fillers. Alot of times you come in for one
of these treatments and you you wantto look good right away, but you
don't look good right away, andlike skincare regimens, you just are appeal

(08:07):
or something like that. You mightlook good when it first comes off,
you know, the peel, butyou know it takes time for things to
develop, and that's that's one ofthe things about aging. Is that it
didn't. You didn't age in threemonths, You aged in many years.
And to be able to turn backthe clock in just you know, one

(08:28):
week or two weeks, it's unrealistic. I haven't seeing a lot of stuff
on TikTok, you know, it'slike the doctor world of TikTok. How
they're saying, well, first ofall the fake botox claims where there was
nine different states affected, and alsothat botox makes you look older. Do
you agree or disagree with that?Well, I disagree with botos making you

(08:48):
look older, and you know toxinsin general. But I think if you
I think what happens is after awhile you you you age in the boat
is going to hold back the theearly signs of aging. But once you
start getting there, I don't carehow much botox you use, You're never
going to hold back the hands oftime. Right. And so then sometimes

(09:11):
if you do botox when you've alreadystarted to get some established wrinkles, it
becomes more noticeable. Like the morewrinkles and lines you have and then you're
trying to defeat them with botox, the more noticeable. So when I see
young people doing it, you know, they call it like baby botox.
Baby. I mean, I've doneit for women in their twenties and you're

(09:35):
trying to just like knock down likethe frown muscles. Well, those frown
muscles aren't creating wrinkles at that age, but eventually they do. And then
so I do think that as youget older, you're injector. This is
why it's good to have someone thatages with you, has to learn your

(09:56):
face. And so that's why I'vealways advocated. I used to do my
own boatox for patients, so youget to know them and then you know,
ten years later they're back and you'reyou're actually using maybe less or you're
not doing the same areas. Sothat's why it's important to have a good
injector that you can you know, you can go back and like, hey,

(10:16):
you know you adjusted my dose andit didn't look that great, So
can you can I come back ina couple of weeks and they'll give you
a little touch up, you know, if you just go to like whoever's
having a group on or I don'teven know if the use that term anymore,
but like you know, like asale right for a unit, it's
like it's not you have to.It's an art to that. And I'm

(10:37):
getting off the subject a little bit, but I really feel strongly that having
good people experience people really makes adifference in fillers and botox and of course
devices, even the devices that Ihave, you know, you learn,
even the newer ones. You know, you you keep learning about them.
The doctors that started protocols on thesedevices five years ago. When I go

(11:01):
to this meeting, the same doctorsare giving talks saying, oh, well,
now we've uped the energy or ifwe've done this, or we've changed
You're constantly learning. It's the samein surgery, you know, we don't
do the same facelift or the samebreast reduction that we did or I did
thirty years ago, necessarily. Andthen thermi Va is something that's becoming very

(11:22):
popular, and I know you've beenon the forefront of advocating for that,
and I've been hearing it at manyplaces. Now they have the devices for
tightening. How popular has that become? That's very popular. Actually, this
new device I have, Temperature hasa it's a similar product. It's our
device is called Vitalia, and that'sa new one for me. But it's

(11:43):
it's very much like thermi thermiva, and that's going to give you some internal
tightening of the vaginal area as wellas some external tightening. So those are
things that are going to attack severalareas of concern that women get as they
get older, like when you sneeze, you dribble on yourself, things like

(12:05):
that. Yeah, so things likethat that's going to help tighten you know,
the sort of the lining which isright up against the bladder and that
sort of thing. Even interesting,we're talking about renewvion there. This is
something that I've done a few timesand it's encouraging. This skin tightening device,
this reneuvion, you can actually make. They have a small hand piece.

(12:26):
You can actually put it into labiamajora and manora and tighten without like
cutting skin. Okay, so evenyou know when people talk about labiaplasty and
things like that where they want toget rid of excess skin of the labia,
Well, the menora is the outerarea and you generally don't have a

(12:48):
lot to do for that, butthis is something to help even tighten that.
So that was another exciting thing, and I'm glad you asked about that
because that was another exciting thing thatI found that doctors are doing. I've
done it a few but I kindof reinforced that you can do it and
it will help to tighten areas thatwe never really had a great wave,
right, And so you're a onestop shop. Is a very boutique style

(13:11):
plastic surgery office. But you havethe aesthetics side obviously, the plastic surgery
side, that's you your board certified. Many people I know they're like,
yes, doctor Lawala is great, clean work, does a great job.
And so one stop shop, likeyou go for your esthetics and everything.
Is there anything that you want toshare to encourage people that, hey,
come see me. This is whywe're so you know, we're so great,

(13:33):
which I know I'm a patient ofyours as well. Well, you
know, there are a lot ofa lot of providers out there. I
mean, you know, this isa little bit more of a boutique.
Like you said, it's just asingle doc. It's I don't have every
device out there. I don't tryto be that inclusive. We're a little

(13:54):
bit smaller. But as you mentioned, it's really personalized, right, personalized
treatments. I'm hoping that people thathave come from for surgery, will will
stay and end up having some ofthese other treatments. You try to treat
you like family and and you know, come in and you can have all
your other needs met at the sameplace. And it feels very private,

(14:16):
which is nice because people don't wantto shout out to the world like,
hey, I'm going to see theplastic surgery. You know office, it's
very private, it's a beautiful settingand you have a great team of experts
that are surrounding you, so itmakes it a really wonderful experience. Any
advice for the ladies that are consideringcoming to get our guys too, because

(14:37):
what's your ratio men to women?I probably do ninety women. I still
do men. I do men lipeas suction, male breast reduction, occasionally,
facial you know, facelifts and necklifts, eyelids, you know, do
it all. But yeah, Iwould say it's still women. And you

(14:58):
know, we talked. We starteda while back talking about mommy makeover,
and you know, that's probably themost common thing people come in for,
but everything else is available there too, And you start thinking about this months
if not years in advance. Sowhat's the process when they come to see
you. The consultation. Yeah, there's consultation. Most people have done some
research that they come in and Ispend time with them with my patient coordinator

(15:22):
or my nurse, and we goover like a treatment plan, and you
know, part of it. It'snot just yes, they're surgically. You
just want this done. We talkabout that, but you know, this
is the idea. You come inand you can talk about other things that
bother you. You know, you'rethere for a breast reduction, but you
you know, I also don't likemy face, and so you know there
are other options, not surgical necessarilythat. It's just a good way to

(15:46):
to kind of get in with someone, get to get a you know,
to obviously develop a trust. Andthen and then I feel like we have
other devices and treatments that hope you, you know, keep you young Lyleplasticsurgery
dot Com. Anything we need toadd today, that's good, Thank you
so much. I like hearing aboutrenoving on. This is new. I

(16:07):
haven't heard about this one yet,so I'll have to come try it,
all right, Very good
