That's love.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Anthropology is the best. They're so good.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
So I would be wearing Versona and a thrifted jacket
that I love. I don't remember where it's from.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
But it's my favorite secondhand is so good drifting Lily
my version of hunting.
Speaker 6 (01:19):

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Well, everyone looks fabulous, fabulous. We're happy that you're here.
And the holidays are coming up. Does anybody have have
a favorite holiday tradition?
Speaker 3 (02:03):
So I travel with the family, which is me, my husband,
my sixteen year old and the Corgie in a two
door BMW with a toully on top to Pittsburgh, nine
hour drive up and back for Thanksgiving. So we get
we do bonding.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
That's amazing.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
I am headed to the Polar Express train ride next weekend.
I don't know if you abodys.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Done that before.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
I've seen it on talk. It's like what like an
hour and a half away or a couple hours away.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
I think it's about two hours maybe like an hour
and a half. But it's really fun.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Take the kids and I want to go. Yeah, it
was just my boyfriend, like I.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Was, you gotta do the pajamas, do the hole. You
gotta get a bell, get the bell, get the cookies,
the hot cocoa.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Oh when they do the little top dawn, Yeah, you
got it.
Speaker 7 (02:56):
I'm going to show my my Raleigh kid heritage here
and I don't have to travel for the holidays because
my husband's also mirror. And what's so nice is that
the town empties out to like Raley circa nineteen ninety five,
Like you can get into restaurants again, you can make
left turns on Late Avenue, like it's just a slower
rally vibe. And I just I like when it gets
kind of like quiet around the holidays around here.
Speaker 8 (03:19):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Speaking of the end of the year, Yes, what is
your favorite album artist song that you've had on repeat
this year?
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Taylor's Lift? Okay, I asked somebody else that question. I said, well,
mine would be Taylor Swift and I said I actually
went to Sweden to see the Eras tour, to which
he replied, is she like on a tour or something?
Speaker 1 (03:46):
I said, how do you not know his for you
page doesn't look like your four years?
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Doesn't everybody know what she's doing all the time. That's
what I've said, Well we'll talk. We'll talk later, because
I was like, you do you not have access to
the internet? Do you need a hotspot? I gotta me two.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Girl, I'm all eighties all the time. I'm so little
Cindy Lauper and prints. Please.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
You know you can listen to the Heart Eighties channel
on iHeart.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
She most plugged Trevor.
Speaker 7 (04:18):
I went to Pink the other night and I was
that was amazing in itself, but I was probably even
more stoked when I found out that Marion Morris was
the opening act. So she has been on my like
back to back stream in the car this week.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
She's like really coming into her own this year. It's
so good.
Speaker 7 (04:36):
Eighties Mercedes has been like my like actual like anthem
with her.
Speaker 8 (04:41):
Love it.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
So now we got to get down to business. Yes,
in a zombie apocalypse, who in this room would be
first to go and who would be the last one standing?
Speaker 3 (04:55):
My husband will make sure on the last ones.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Okay, that's love, that is love.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
We are prepared Zombie Apocalypse, say.
Speaker 7 (05:08):
On our team, Peyton is an innocent and sweet one,
so she's probably gonna go.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
She's gonna go first. I feel like I'm a little scrappy,
so I feel like I'm.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Gonna take it to the end.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah, but you know what, I think going first and
might be the way to go, because you're only delaying
the inevitable.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
At that point, I'd make eye contact with a zombie
and I'd be out of there, so I'd be like,
you know what, I'm not gonna make it.
Speaker 7 (05:37):
I think the response is the same as when like
we talk about we're just listening to true podcast acts right,
like they bring me back.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
They'd be like please, like can we pay you? Like
take her back? She's too much ladder down the path.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
And then final question, what's your best piece of business
advice for a new entrepreneur.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
My grandfather told me a long time ago to pay
yourself first, and I didn't necessarily listen as an entrepreneur
early on, but it's definitely.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
A good piece of advice. It is a good piece
of advice.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
I haven't heard that today.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
You've got to make your money.
Speaker 7 (06:16):
Almost close twenty years into it now, I still need
to learn that lesson. I've not championed it yet that
that's a really solid one. Last night I was talking
to a group of people at a Bourbon Women event
and I was talking to two younger women in the industry,
her getting their foothold, and I told them, like not
to be afraid to like ask for what they want,
so like they would like opportunities to do X, Y
(06:37):
and Z, like tell your manager that, tell your boss that,
express your interest because people don't know what to offer
you until you, you know, go after it. So if
you're scared to sell something, you need to tell people
what to do. You need to ask for the sale.
If you are looking for opportunities, tell people what you know,
what you want to do, what you aim to do,
and at least start there.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Good advice. Trevor, are you going to take any of
that advice?
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Well, I think that's great advice because so many people
are too scared to say something, and so the people
that do definitely stand out.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Absolutely. Trevor's my boss, so I'm going to ask for
what I want later.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
We're really besties, though.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
We're besties before he's my boss. Sometimes don't tell his
boss though. Podcast about Validation, right, I mean I love
Validation premiering soon coming in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Well, thank you so much everybody for coming.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Yeah, it's been fun.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
All right, Trevor and Caitlin back for another edition of podcast. Okay,
long story short. On the internal invite for this, there's
a typo and it says popcast popcorn. So I keep
going to say popcast and popcorn.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
It's podcast and popcorn.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
And we are joined by our new friend Dre. How
are you.
Speaker 8 (07:52):
It's a pleasure to be here. Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Who are here representing today, DBA Market and Pros, Well,
thank you for being here. So first all we gotta ask.
We start every episode with who are you wearing? You're
in the red carpet, Like who are you wearing? Like
what you know?
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Like if we Grammys and they were like, who are
you wearing?
Speaker 1 (08:12):
I'm wearing old navy.
Speaker 8 (08:15):
Well, in today's world, I'd be good putting something on.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
It's true.
Speaker 8 (08:22):
How well, immediately I think of some uh some high
class uh suits. I can't think of any names, right,
like Gaza, possibly something more like a tuxedo La tuxedo.
I really don't care too much about the brands, because
brands have something behind them, and I don't support everybody's
(08:42):
brand as a marketing company. So I will choose wisely
and I'll probably go with something basic in them all,
and I let the watch do all the talking.
Speaker 6 (08:51):
Boom.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
See, it's all about how you accessorize.
Speaker 8 (08:54):
To watch, the belt and the shoes. It's the little
things that make the biggest difference.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
He gets it, well, don't ask Treubor for fashion avice.
And the watch may be and it might a little rollie.
I love it. What the holidays around the corner. So
we're asking what is your favorite holiday family tradition.
Speaker 8 (09:14):
It's like a repeated cycle every single year that never stops.
So Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has to be the best because of
the food.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
The food's the best.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Yes, what is the best thing on the Thanksgiving plate?
Speaker 8 (09:31):
Sweet potatoes?
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Sweet potatoes?
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Soou fle stuffing?
Speaker 8 (09:36):
Stuffing? Oh, I love some good stuff and I haven't
ate that in a long time.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Do you call it stuffing or dressing? Because I'm from
Massachusetts and everyone's like dressing.
Speaker 8 (09:45):
You know what. When I was in New York, they
were saying stuffing.
Speaker 6 (09:48):
Yep.
Speaker 8 (09:49):
When I was in North Carolina, they said dressing, and
then you get the mix.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
It all tastes good.
Speaker 6 (09:57):
It all tastes so, no.
Speaker 8 (09:59):
Matter if it depends on where you go household. But
we grew up calling it dressing, and I never even
said dressing whenever my grandmother fixed it for me. I
just looked at that brown stuff and I was like,
it's good.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Whatever's in that. I like it. And our house is
not dressing. It's dressing with an end. There's no geon
dressing in our family.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
So it's good.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Oh it's really good.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
But so not to get too deep into the you know,
dressing talk. But when people try to get too fancy
with it, I feel like that's don't mess with it. No, yeah,
like putting like weird ingredients into it, like oh yeah.
Speaker 8 (10:36):
Sometimes I just cut it open. I'm like, oh, pray
that this is will and it's okay for my body.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
That's why I'm worried about friendsgivings when you have different
people make Thanksgiving meals, because I'm like, you don't make
the mac and cheese like my mom, you don't make
the dressing like my mom.
Speaker 8 (10:52):
I have a question, So, what's the weirdest Thanksgiving meal
that you've ever had?
Speaker 1 (10:59):
I have of an aunt who she tries every year
to make mashed potatoes, and she cannot master that for
some reason. And they're so glooey that you could hang
wallpaper with these mashed potatoes. And everyone tries to get
her to not make those every year. So now we
ends up with two mashed potatoes because somebody else also
brings them. Because you can't not have mashed potatoes.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
We do a man, this is embarrassing. We do a
jello salad. But stay with me. It's strawberry jello with
cool whip, mandarin oranges and peanuts, and it sounds nasty.
I'm with you, but it's the most delicious thing in
the entire world. What's yours.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
I don't think you sold them. I don't think you
sold them.
Speaker 8 (11:41):
No, No, I just felt like a bad stummach.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
No, it's delicious. I promise I'll send you guys a recipe.
It's really good.
Speaker 8 (11:53):
So one day I showed up. I think I was
like in high school, and then well we eat, it's
like well done. Yeah, And you never you always have
the same thing every single year. Right, You're expecting to
see the pies and the chicken and the turkey and
this time I saw frog legs. But it happened when
(12:13):
somebody got married their mom made frog legs. And I
looked at that thing and I was like, yuck, I
cannot eat this. Why would I eat it? Yeah, I
guess what I need?
Speaker 6 (12:30):
You ate it?
Speaker 8 (12:30):
I ate it?
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Did you like it?
Speaker 8 (12:33):
It tastes like slimy chicken.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
That's that's another good description.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Though, Okay, chickens chicky, it's chicken adjacent.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Also, heading towards the end of the year, is there
any uh artist or album or specific song that you've
had on repeat all year?
Speaker 6 (12:55):
You know?
Speaker 8 (12:56):
It's this great guy Marusso. He has like him un
beliefs and values is me and he uses like uh
uh a beat in all his songs. That's pretty Uh
it's uplifting and positive. So it's a song by Marusso.
It's uh says victory and so it just keeps my
mind set positive and keep me uplifted.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
I love you.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
You should tell So. Caitlyn's boyfriend Zach has been doing
this thing all year. We're on Instagram. Uh, he will
post a new album of the day that he's listening to.
So he's listened to a new album every day. This
year and so he should you up?
Speaker 2 (13:33):
I know, I'll tell him, like genuinely, every single day
this year, he's listened to a new album It's Crazy.
The other day he listened to Sea Shanties, which is random,
but I think he'll probably like yours better. Okay, we
love an uplifting song.
Speaker 8 (13:48):
Yeah, yeah, I like to keep my mind set. I
like to have good thoughts. And you know, because your
thoughts kind of like take you.
Speaker 6 (13:55):
Where you're going to go.
Speaker 8 (13:56):
Yeah, so you want to keep them clean. So I
always anything pop clean, good for my mind, good for
my ears. I keep in my ears. I love.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
That's what's a piece of advice that you would give
to a new entrepreneur.
Speaker 8 (14:09):
That's good, that's a great question. I would tell every
entrepreneur that just started to prepare an advance. Whatever you
prepare for, that's what you get. And I'm an entrepreneur
who jumped out with our inheritance grandmother raised so starting
from scratch in Sanford, North Carolina, and now have a family, life, kids,
and I actually cut the cord like just just like that.
(14:32):
And I would tell every entrepreneur just like, if you
have already been equipped off jobs, off little things, like
customer service off, understanding how to create processes and from
getting to a point A to point and Z like
you can be an entrepreneur and just try it, do it,
start it up and trust yourself. You're more equipped than
(14:55):
you always think.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Once you moved forward, I love that. That's so good.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
I want to be an entrepreneur now, Dre, thank you
for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the podcast. Now
you got to go enjoy the popcorn. Thank you for coming.
Speaker 8 (15:10):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
It is Trevor and Caitlin back at it again for
another edition of Podcast.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
And Popcorn Podcast and Popcorn.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
And joined by Chase from Barkley Jensen. How are you.
Speaker 9 (15:23):
I'm doing great, uh, even better now that I got
some popcorn and getting a meet with you guys and
enjoying this beautiful, cold, rainy day.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
You know, we spare no expense. We actually have a
popcorn we do.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
We have a real popcorn maker. It's like the carnival
in here.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
It was actually the like you should have seen everybody
in the office the day we got it. Everybody was,
you know, soled, puddled around the popcorn machine.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
It's true.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
The most exciting thing, well, a long time.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
We've just kind of been making it just to make
sure it works right.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Obviously surprised there's still some left for today.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Is this your podcast debut?
Speaker 9 (15:57):
This is first time we've never done. It's amazing. Certainly
feels cool to be sitting here in the studio with
you guys. But yes, first time ever doing a podcast.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
It's gonna be great.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Well, first question, who are you wearing for this event today?
Speaker 9 (16:12):
Barkley Jensen. It's We're a locally based company out of Carry.
I went to MC state, locally owned and operated, and
we're really just a customer obsessed company. We put our
customers first. We have one hundred and something all five
star reviews on Google and we do that because we
truly care. And I think that is what separates us
(16:33):
from most other contractors is we genuinely care about our
community and we want to do a phenomenal job from
A to Z and that's what we try to reflect
in our brand of Barkley Jensen. So that is.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Who's that's not just lip service either, Because you guys
came out for our Hurricane Helene relief drive probably about
a month ago at Walmart and Carrie with five or
six pickup trucks full of supplies. And I know you
did stuff above and beyond that too. A lot of
dog food, right, it was a lot of bags of
dog food for the for the pets in western North Carolina.
(17:06):
A lot of dog food. Yeah, that's that's for sure.
Speaker 9 (17:08):
I have a long haired German shepherd and he is
my baby, and just broke my heart thinking about all
those dogs out there.
Speaker 6 (17:15):
But no, it's the truth.
Speaker 9 (17:16):
You know, there's a lot of contractors out there that
just want jobs. And we really do feel different in
that sense where we're a part of this community, whether
hiring locally or most of our work being here in
Raleigh and Carrie. And we just try to be a
customer obsessed from A to Z and it's what we're
building our brand.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Around that's amazing. So the holidays are coming up, so
we just have to ask what is your favorite holiday
family tradition?
Speaker 9 (17:44):
Oh, that's a good one. Spending time with family, parents,
and I'm still blessed to have my grandparents around. Yeah,
so you know, as I get older, I cherish that
more and more. Didn't see Grandma every year, Grandpa, so
getting to see family of course, and Black Friday shopping.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
So I get a little into now when you go
Black Friday shopping, because whenever I did this, I would
always go for the deals and buy for myself. Do
you do a little bit of that or do you
do you? You know? Are you giving and you buy
for others? I have a list for both.
Speaker 9 (18:18):
So I started making a list of friends and family
stuff Christmas gifts, and then there's certainly some vacuum cleaners
and my personal list that I.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
Got to take care of as well.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
I just get all the clothes for the year for
myself on Black Friday. I don't want to spend like
I hate spending money on clothes. Caitlin sees me every
day and she's like, Oh, you're wearing the.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Shirt again, same thing every week.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
I just why am I going to spend money? I
have a washing machine. Why don't I need to spend
money on all these clothes.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
I love to swipe my credit card. It's my favorite activity.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
I'll just buy like some new clothes on Black Friday
and that'll get me through another year. And then our
final question for the podcast before we let you get
to the popcorn, what is your best piece of advice
you would have for a you entrepreneur.
Speaker 9 (19:01):
Find something you're passionate about it.
Speaker 8 (19:05):
You can't.
Speaker 9 (19:06):
You can't do anything properly without passion. You know, you
got to wake and wake up and live and breathe
what you do. And you know, be customer obsessed. That
actually stems from a Jeff Bezos approach and just you know,
focus on the people you're serving and the product you're
putting out and everything also follows. So be passionate about
(19:28):
what you do, focus on the people you serve and
the product you create, and everything else should follow from there.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
That's good advice. I got goosebumps. You should write an
entrepreneur book. That's awesome. Thank you so much for joining
us at Podcast and Popcornstely, and now you get to
move on to the popcorn segment.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Thank you guys so much for having us.
Speaker 9 (19:47):
And yes we're Barbara Jensen Roofing based out of Carrie,
North Carolina. Feel free to give us a call if
you need help with any execatory remodeling needs.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
It is Trevor and Caitlin back for an other edition
of Podcast and Popcorn. Let's keep it going about another
guest in the studio. If you would please introduce yourself,
where you and where you're from.
Speaker 10 (20:09):
Justin Steps. I'm the sales manager at window Nation here
in Raleigh. Well, welcome, Bill, Welcome, I got I got
a kid over eating popcorn.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
I don't know the camera, where's the camera?
Speaker 10 (20:17):
That kind of podcast anyway, Yeah, we're having some popcorn,
having a little chat.
Speaker 6 (20:21):
Good times.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Getting close to the holiday season and wondering, you know
what holiday traditions are you looking forward to.
Speaker 10 (20:29):
I've got one actually for the other gentlemen here in
the studio that I.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Can't actually say that's.
Speaker 10 (20:34):
Coming up that it involves a train, I'll go that far.
But we we started doing a live tree. Didn't have
that as a kid, grown up, we had an official tree.
I think the lights were forty years old. We dug cape,
didn't put it back. So now we have that tradition
of picking out the tree kind of thing that's fun
we're looking for.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
So I realized when I moved down here, because I'm
from New England, originally everybody has a real tree up there,
and some people would even go and cut it down themselves,
and down here like it's pretty much all artificial trees.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
I've had a real tree my whole life. And you go,
do you guys go and cut your own down?
Speaker 10 (21:08):
No, but it comes from the mountains that when we
always buyd in seat there you go.
Speaker 8 (21:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (21:14):
At the same time, like the artificial tree, it goes
well with the twelve foot blow up.
Speaker 6 (21:20):
I think it's in the yard. Takes the neighbor up.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
Absolutely trees and blow up things. You get the you
get the fur missed and just make it smell like
a blue fur and it's fine, and the cat is.
Speaker 10 (21:32):
Less likely to destroy it if it's fake. They just
seem to ignore the fake tree. They love a tree.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (21:38):
It's one of the things we've kind of started doing.
We just like that.
Speaker 10 (21:41):
I didn't have one growing up, but he's enjoyed it
and it's always a fun mestic clean up after sitting
there for two months.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Oh yeah, I love it. So if you were in
a zombie apocalypse, what would be your survival plan?
Speaker 8 (21:55):
You know?
Speaker 10 (21:56):
I always, for whatever reason, think of the Order war
Z Brad hitline. People in these situations that keep moving survived,
And I don't know why that stuffs if there really
is a legitimate thing there.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
But I've always thought that Brad Pitt's never wrong to
this to this point, I.
Speaker 6 (22:15):
Haven't known of a time where they've caught him out
for anything.
Speaker 10 (22:17):
But I'm a Second Amendment guy to a degree, so
I've got that going for me in the Zombie Apocalypse.
But stay in Mobile, however you do that based on
that movie, That's what I'm gonna do.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Getting close to the end of the year, so what
has been your favorite song, album, your favorite artist that
you're listening to this year?
Speaker 6 (22:35):
Man, this is.
Speaker 10 (22:36):
Probably gonna make me the lamest dude out there because
I am a grunge nineties eighties hair metal.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
I thought you were gonna say swifty like that's why.
Speaker 6 (22:48):
Zero chance. So it's funny. My son who's in the
studio here.
Speaker 10 (22:51):
His name is Lane la Y and he he's named
after Lane Staley from Alison Chains. Oh nice frontman from
the band that was my favorite band. I've got their
band logo, can't it on my arm with his initials.
So when it comes to anything trending, I'm not real
savvy with an iPhone. I'm definitely not trendy in any way,
but uh, you know, I kind of I have satellite
radio sometimes on my work car, and I'll turn it
(23:13):
on because you can get to stuff that you can't
necessarily get on the radio, like Winger Motley Crew. That's
something that's kind of hard to find. So I really
haven't stayed in the loop on hot music or anything.
Kind of stick to my guns when it comes to music,
and you can't really change me.
Speaker 6 (23:30):
My wife hates it.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
By the way, I don't know what you're talking about.
We have an all Winger hour coming up on G
one O five. I don't know what you're gonna do
for an hour sponsor sponsored by wind Donation.
Speaker 10 (23:41):
Gets in the cars, He's like this music and I'm like,
it's my I'm driving.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
Yeah, that's awesome. What is your best piece of advice
for like a new business entrepreneur man.
Speaker 10 (23:54):
That's uh, that's a good question. I've organically grown an
eighty tea dealership before I got a Window Nation, which
was a door to door selling security company.
Speaker 6 (24:05):
You know, I grew that to a large conglomerate and you've.
Speaker 10 (24:10):
Got it's trial and error, but at the same time,
you need those people there the voice of reason. It
needs to be calculated trial and error. You're gonna make mistakes,
it's inevitable. You just can't make go on that bankrupt you.
And I used to work in retail, and I've kind
of tied that to what my district manager in earlier
days in retail said, You're gonna make mistakes as a manager,
(24:30):
just don't make them in the lost prevention or HR department.
It's kind of the same thing on the entrepreneur side,
like you're gonna make a mistake, just don't let it
cost you the company.
Speaker 6 (24:38):
You can be risk, but you don't.
Speaker 10 (24:40):
You just can't go all in on something and not
have a calculated decision unless you've just got a disposable
income and you can afford a bankrupt on. So that
would be what I would say, because you know, we
did well, not with a lot of money, growing to
get to where we had a lot of money, and
it was as a result of getting in a room,
putting heads together, still going to an office back when
that was a thing figuring stuff out. Before we said
(25:01):
all right, I think that's good enough. We can figure
the rest out as we.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Get I love it. That's awesome. That's good advice too.
Speaker 10 (25:08):
I'll get any credit for that if somebody does take
that and roll with it, and then.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
We'll make sure you get your tomorrow.
Speaker 10 (25:13):
Yes, I see this on the podcast thing tomorrow and
it's somebody else's.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Well, thank you for us stopping by the podcast. I
hope you enjoy the popcorn. Oh yeah, you enjoyed the popcorn, so.
Speaker 6 (25:26):
Yeah, it's.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
All right, Well, thank you and enjoy yeah, appreciate. All right,
it's Trevor and Caitlin back for another edition of iHeartRadio,
Raleigh's podcast and is a popcorn and podcast or podcast
and popcorn.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
It's choose your own adventure style, I think, mostly because
I can't remember, so you're just gonna have to guess.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
All right, we have another fabulous guest. If you could
please introduce yourself and where you are from.
Speaker 11 (25:53):
Yeah, I'm Stacy and I am from West Shore Home.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Welcome, Thank you. How are you today? How are you
enjoying the how are you enjoying the podcast? And how
are you enjoying the popcorn?
Speaker 11 (26:02):
The podcast is making me extremely nervous the popcorn yet.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
So we'll try it soon.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Well, we have to start with who are you wearing?
Speaker 11 (26:12):
Okay, so most likely Banana Republic, black House.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
White Market h solid choices I had to get. I
think those are both in Crabtree Valley Mall too. They
are definitely both.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
From Crab Yeah, so holiday holidays coming up quickly, any
big traditions that you celebrate.
Speaker 11 (26:31):
We uh typically travel around the country to a different
city every year and then every couple of years we
take one off. So this isn't off year. So this
year we're just staying. But my brother in law is
trying a new tradition, which is Thanksgiving is on Wednesday,
so that on Thursday he can eat leftovers?
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Then what do you do on Friday.
Speaker 11 (26:56):
If there's any leftover? So he I guess he has.
Speaker 8 (26:59):
To cook a lot of time.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
So for like Thanksgiving leftovers are I was like the
Thanksgiving sandwiches same thing? Or is it just making a plate?
Speaker 9 (27:06):
Thing?
Speaker 6 (27:07):
Is so good?
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Good? We always get the Hawaiian King rolls. That's how
we make the sandwiches. Oh they're the best.
Speaker 11 (27:17):
But do they sell the rest of the year?
Speaker 2 (27:19):
They do? I keep I personally actually keep them in business.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
So a new city every so how many cities do
you even?
Speaker 5 (27:29):
Have?
Speaker 1 (27:29):
You lost track of how many cities.
Speaker 6 (27:30):
You've been to?
Speaker 11 (27:31):
Just that family is kind of spread.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Out, Ohio, New Jersey.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Well then you don't have to host every time, so
that's nice.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
The vermont Ones have to be nice around the holidays
because it's probably snowing and it's get the white Christmas man.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Well, speaking of cities, okay, there are some cities I
would not want to be a zombie apocalypse member. And however,
if you were in a zombie apocalypse, what would be
your survival plan?
Speaker 11 (27:57):
So I think the survival plan for us is my
parents and my brother live on a big piece of
land that we have always referred to as the Compound,
which is fully stocked with you know, homegrown veggies.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
A lake, and firearms.
Speaker 11 (28:14):
So we will be safe at the compound.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
And I will be joining you. That's so fun.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Also, been a big year for music. Is there any
artist or song that has has you know would be
your top pick in twenty twenty four?
Speaker 11 (28:30):
So most new music that I'm exposed to is walk
up music at the baseball field.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Nice.
Speaker 11 (28:35):
So I would say Fishies Got Drip and Strawberry Strawberry.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
That was very good.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
I don't even know those.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
She's ahead of the times.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
I can tell you. I can tell you know what
those are.
Speaker 8 (28:49):
Yeah, she knows them.
Speaker 11 (28:50):
And I can't remember the name of the kid that
sings of and then what's the other one the races
CEO U.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
N t R y oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 11 (29:00):
I love that song And I was never a country
fan until like that. So much good country music.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
There's so much good country music this year, like bringing
all the people in. It's true. If you had to
give one piece of advice for an entrepreneur, what would
you give them.
Speaker 11 (29:16):
One thing I live by and business is to just
always be honest. Be honest with the people you work with,
with your vendors, with your partners. Just always be honest.
And if you're honest with everybody around you, it will
you know. I think people can feel that genuine you
know it part of you and they want to do business.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Episode Always be honest. That's a good one.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Well, thank you, good life, Well, thank you for stopping
by the podcast. Thank you enjoyed the popcorn.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Thank you hit up the popcorn machine. Then there's topics too,
there's like Ranch and Paalapanio.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Get in there, all right, It's Trevor and Caitlin. iHeartRadio
Raleigh's podcast and Popcorn.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
We are popping questions just like we're popping corn.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
And so who are we joined by today?
Speaker 12 (30:10):
Hey, my name is Nick Hill. I am here with
the Better Business Bureau. Well, welcome, thanks for joining us,
Thanks for having us. This is super great.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
So first big question, who are you wearing?
Speaker 12 (30:19):
Oh gosh, who am I wearing? All Right, this jacket
I'm really proud of. It's thrifted ll bean, So yeah,
save some money getting this out of thrift store. Other
than that, I mean sweater Christmas gift pants j crew nice. Yeah,
trying to stay comfortable and also stay functional.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Oh bars, well, looks great. Speaking of the holidays, any
big holiday traditions.
Speaker 12 (30:45):
Oh, traditions?
Speaker 8 (30:47):
You know.
Speaker 12 (30:48):
Really only have my parents here in North Carolina, so
I'll go and see them all the time. And my
mother makes a fantastic prime rib on Christmas Eve. So
if I'm looking forward to anything at the end of
the year, it's that, all right.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Next one is really hard hitting, very serious stuff. What
is your survival plan during a zombie apocalypse?
Speaker 12 (31:08):
Okay, survival plan during a zombie apocalypse? I would like
to find a boat and then learn how to drive
said boat because I don't know how to do that,
that's the key, And then go out onto an island
and then try to stay as isolated as possible, I'd
bring a baseball bat with me. I know, we were
talking a little bit about baseball before we start recording.
(31:29):
Bring one of those you know, good range on the
baseball bat, not going to cause too much noise hitting
those zombies in the head. So I think that would
be my weapon of choice in case something happened.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
That's smart. That's smart. He watches a lot of movies.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
I gots no I just.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
So, what is your artist or album or song of
the year that you have listened to the most.
Speaker 12 (31:52):
Hey, I've been enjoying Chromocopia by Tyler the Creator.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
It's good.
Speaker 12 (31:58):
You know, he sets the are so high with each
album and he still finds a way to either meet
or top it each time. And I just like how
he's matured, especially with this album talking about you know, hey,
I'm like a guy in my thirties now these are
the kinds of things that they are in. And as
someone who's kind of like grown up with him too,
it's it really reflects on my life hearing you know,
(32:20):
him progressed as an artist.
Speaker 8 (32:22):
In a way.
Speaker 4 (32:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
In final question, biggest piece of business advice for a
new entrepreneur? Oh wow, So this is something we do
with a lot at BBB. We do a lot with
small businesses and entrepreneurs. I would say, just be authentic.
Today people just crave that authenticity, especially when they're working
with a small or batique business. They want to see
(32:47):
who you are and they want to see what makes
you shine. So I say, don't shy away from that.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Just be yourself amazing, a professional.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Well, thank you for stopping by today and enjoy some
more popcorn and podcasts.
Speaker 6 (33:02):
I will.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Yeah, thanks for having us
