state senators here in North Carolina makingnational news as they have introduced a bill
to ban participation trophies at youth sportingevents that are getting government funding. They
claim that it makes kids too soft, and as a mama of little kids
and I get a little soft heart, I don't know how I feel about

this. I want to hear fromyou, Guna five. Well, I
have two children that have played sportsthe entire life, and I do not
agree with participation trophies, Okay.I think that they should have to work
for you know, first, second, third, whatever, and that they
should have to earn it. Myson's baseball team used to burn all the

second place trophies at the end ofthe year because they were just like,
you know, second place, right. My daughter was a gymnast, and
so you either got gold, silver, bronze, or nothing. And I
think that it made them better atwhat they did by not getting that little
participation trophy. Honestly, they endup in a box on the shelf collecting

dusk to somewhere, and once theyget into school sports, there are no
participation trophies, so I think theyneed to work to get that. For
a second or whatever, do youthink that there's a goal. So I'm
a softie, you know, LikeI agree, like I don't think everybody
needs a participation because they got tolearn what the real world is like when
they get older. Yes, butI remember being in t ball when I
was little and all of us gotthe little trophy and we thought it was

so special. We were five orsix. To me, I'm okay with
that, But then when you getinto like competitive sports, I think it's
you got to actually earn that trophy. Yeah, and maybe a participation certificate
because that first team. I rememberthat that first team is special and it's
nice to see your child doing thosethings, and those are great memories.
But just trophy after trophy after trophy, all the kid ever wants it was

a trophy, and they really don'tlearn, you know, the athletic piece
and striving for better if they well, I'm going to get a trophy no
