Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the Showy dot Com w CLX Studios.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's the download with Danielle on Boston's Classic Rock seven WCLX.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Danielle always does an award winning job with the download.
She's not here, she's on vacation. We're trying to live
up to that standard. We're just trying not to embarrass ourselves.
Well there's that too waiting, all right. So big thing
everybody's talking about is the fact that tonight at midnight,
we could have a government shutdown. It's like we've been
talking about this forever, but it's it's here that's interesting.
(00:34):
This happens every single year. It feels like it there's
always a thread of a government shutdown, but it hasn't
happened in seven years. And then they have to talk
it out and come up with some kind of a compromise. Oh,
we're not going to do it. But everyone's saying that
might not happen. That this actually could happen at midnight tonight,
which means military members might not get paid. Big problems
with airport security and flight delays because TSA, they're not
(00:58):
going to get paid. Air traffic controllers. Same stories. So parks,
national parks. We were talking about the fact that Danielle
is flying back this weekend and maybe she won't. I
told you not to put that out there and then,
but also let me put another one out there. Car
is supposed to be flying back tomorrow. Our whole stabbure
(01:22):
is going to be stuck somewhere if you would like
to do a show at ZLX six School of Broadcasting
exactly an exciting career fill in for Caught around tomorrow.
So all kinds of flight delays, and like you said,
national parks, the White Mountain National Forest, which is just
teeming with people now with the leaf peepers. Uh, it's
(01:42):
going to be open, but some trailheads are going to
be closed. Restrooms will be closed. That could be nasty.
Oh wow. Yeah, people using leaves out in the woods.
Oh my god. So hopefully this isn't going to be happening.
Hopefully not. One thing that is definitely going to be
happening is TJ Max closing down the store on Newberry
Street closing in January, which will impact one hundred and
(02:06):
seventeen employees. That's a lot of people out of work.
It's a huge store. Right after the holidays too, you
celebrate the holidays with your family. Yeah, but like you know,
now you're not gonna have a job. Usually when people
get fired, they don't see it coming. Yeah, you know
you're gonna be out of a gig in like a
couple of months. Malls are struggling now, brick and mortar stores,
that whole thing. But such such a location formerly Tower
(02:26):
Records his store, then it became TJ Max Historic. That's
a big one. That's a tough one, all right. So
Pelosi has been bugging us to be part of the download,
all right, because he wants to be a journalist. So
people need to know the people need Hold on a second,
let me hold one ear, all right, what do you have?
So there's been a huge increase in UFO settings. We
(02:46):
talk about this all the time, and especially in California,
but it's actually it turns out rocket launches from Vanderwert Space,
from that Space Force base in Santa Barbara County, which
they used to do something like forty launches a year,
they're up to seventy or more as they move out,
almost like five or six launchers a week. I feel
like I see a thousand social media posts and those
(03:09):
photos are the contrails of the rockets and all that.
This is evidence that we are not alone. We're not alone.
There people out there, people of things, creatures. That's the
end of the up. Gave the update. Oh all right,
that was it. That was the UFO update, the UFO.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Seven seconds of Sports with Tyler.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
I was letting the people know, what are you talking about?
Speaker 4 (03:39):
There?
Speaker 3 (03:39):
You're going it's probably a rocket. No, Daniel, please come back.
Oh my god, please get that flight in. Let's do this.
Red Sox Yankees tonight Wild Card series starts in the
Bronx six of eight. First pitch, we got our ace,
Garrett Crochety, that freed. The good news is we're nine
(04:00):
to four against the Yankees this year, including a five
to two record at Yankee Stadium, which is probably why
if you want to go to the game, you won't
be able to because according to what they've done in
the Bronx, they are limiting ticket sales to people who
live only in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
It goes by your credit card billing address. So if
(04:21):
you try to get tickets to one of these games
from living in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire ain't
gonna happen. I can't believe Ticketmaster is going along with this.
This just sounds so wrong. It's this is unprecedent. I
mean other places have done in other sporting other sports,
teams in other sports too, but never the Yankees. What's
a Yankees Red Sox game gonna be without fans from
(04:42):
the other team being in the Bronx or at Family Park.
They'll have to throw batteries at themselves. Yeah, exactly. I
touldn't that name. My conspiracy theory is because we're five
and two at Yankee Stadium this year, they don't want
our fans in. They're encouraging them. They're afraid of us.
They're afraid of us. They should be afraid of us.
We got Garrit Crchet going tonight. We could easily jump
on to a one nothing league. Let's go. The bad
news for the Red Sox, though, is that Lucas Giolito
(05:04):
was off the wild card roster. Left his bullpen session
early yesterday with a little elbow issue. He's had Tommy
Johns surgeons and all kinds of things. Don't know how
serious it is. We'll find out soon. If this goes
further into the playoffs. If we make it pass the Yankees,
that's gonna be a humongous issue, is so all right?
So that's the deal with that. I'll got a quick
baseball notes. The annual postseason manager firings have begun. We've
(05:27):
had three casualties already on day one. Bruce Bochie out
in Texas. He just won them the World Series a
couple of years ago. How fast they forget? The Twins
fired Rhode Island native Roccobal Deli after a seven year
tenure there. He won three American League Central titles up there,
So that was a pretty successful I think that's pretty
successful run. Yeah, they never won the World Series, but
they did all right. And then the Giants fired Bob Melboyne.
(05:47):
San Francisco Giants. Man, waits, what a turnaround? They get Raffi.
They go down the toilet. They fired their managers. They
don't make the playoffs. The Raffi curse and also a
curse last night. If you have a knee and your
name is Tyreek Hill, you gotta see the video, you do.
You have to at least watch it, you know, through
your fingers. She felt funny, He felt funny. The guy
(06:11):
from the Jets twisted his leg as they're falling out
of bounds and he he sits up and his foot
is going in the officer direction. Can't be good, right
and not supposed to do that. And they showed the
replay so many times on Monday Night football that people
were complaining stop. Yeah. I saw that. Was some outrage
on solcial media this morning that people were like, I
can't believe you guys showed it again. It is gross.
(06:33):
It sounds like it was great. It's one of those
things you have to see. Dislocated knee. Hospital overnight, we'll
find out more. I can't believe it was just a
dislocated knee when you see it, and you will no,
I thought it was. I thought his leg was just
being torn off. I don't want to see that. Finally,
the Ryder Cup drama still lingering a little bit. We
got a tweet from Tom Watson yesterday, who was a
golf legend, highly respected member of the golfing community. He
(06:57):
posted this on Twitter. He said, I'd like to gradually
at Ryder Cup Europe on their victory. Your team play
the first few days was sensational. More importantly, I'd like
to apologize for the root and mean spirited behavior from
our American crowd at Bethpage. As a former player captain
and as an American, I am ashamed of what happened.
(07:17):
Everybody's ashamed of what happened. That was awful. That was
the videos of the European players celebrating that we're hysterical.
They're in New York and Lowry's up on a table
and he's got the trophy and he's dancing around to it,
and he starts humping the trophy and just they're spraying
booze all over him. I'm bummed out we lost, but
I think you gotta hump the trophy if you win, right, Chuck.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
This just came off the wire service. The Bozeman Paranormal
Society had its fourth annual Big Sky Paranormal Conference on
Saturday at the Clark Chateau in Montana.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Are you serious? Yes.
Speaker 5 (07:48):
Guests attended seminars on crop circles, mediumship, and war and
they were up to eighty people in attendance. So it's
big in the community.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
All right.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Thank you, Thank you very much to let you know
that the important news. It's a great job, all right. Well,
there's your UFO update from Pelosi and that is sports
for me, Tyler, And this is the Chuckle one Morning
show on ZLX. All right, let's get back to what
Pelosi does well. The Classic Rock Challenge six one seven
nine three one hundred point seven. Give us a call.
We have a musical puzzle for you, Yes, if you want,
(08:20):
if you can figure it out, who does the song
and what the song is? Tickets for the Cult at
the Or Film this Saturday. Why is there sombrero over
there Saturday?
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Why?
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Guys like Tequila does?
Speaker 4 (08:32):
What does?
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Yeah? Tequila? Some bird's going on?
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Is it for the challenge?
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (08:36):
The challenge? Await it's coming up next for Boston's Classic
Rock one hundred point seven WZLX.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Now it's Chucks Challenge one hundred point seven w ZLX.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Challenge time. Let's see what you made of six one
seven one, one hundred point seven. We are playing for
a pair of tickets to see the Cult at the
Or Film this Saturday night. I've seen them before. Great band.
What a good place to see him too, at the
Ore Film. That was fun. I love it. Uh what
we have done this time around? I'm just wondering what
inspired Pelosi to come up with this, this version of
(09:11):
this song. We've never done this challenge this, I don't know.
I was just perusing through the files and hanging out,
going down the rabbit hole in the like I do
most hours of the day. Yeah, and I just made
me laugh. I don't know. We are doing the Mariachi challenge.
So mariachi version of a classic rock song. We're really
(09:32):
doing this, aren't we? Okay, here we go? It sounds
pretty cool. Is Kevin from Weymouth? How you doing?
Speaker 6 (09:39):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Good morning guys, Good morning. Thanks for being a contestant
number one here.
Speaker 7 (09:44):
No problem. I'm probably gonna fail miserably, but I I
want to admit that I am the guy that sings
those talking.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
About you're the singing guy I am. You're pretty good
at that. You come up with some creative lyrics.
Speaker 7 (09:57):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
So glad legalization has happened because it really helped with
the creativity in Massachusetts.
Speaker 7 (10:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Absolutely, we're gonna give We gave you something more creative
than the singing guy. Now we'll work on it. We'll
work we'll work on it all right. Felling for the
radio host tomorrow too. If you guys, no no, that's
all right. We're good, We're good, We're got so here
we are you bringing up said the mariachi challenge. What
song is this? And who does it?
Speaker 1 (10:31):
California the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Tating?
Speaker 4 (10:40):
What's that work?
Speaker 3 (10:44):
I wanted to have more fun with that. Kevin the
jingle guy came up with it. Oh, wait to go, Kevin,
you are going to stay with the cult at the
Orpheum this Saturday night. And may I say oo? Alright, alright, alright, alright,
he loves to sing. This guy. We got to check
(11:07):
in coming up. Keep that number handy six one seven,
nine three one, one hundred point seven. You're semi sonic.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
The Lex put a faith to the voice by following
at wx on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok a chef
morning show on one hundred point seven WLX, Boston's Classic rock.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
All Right.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
I may have mentioned in the past that before I
get into radio, I was pre med. So I do
have this fascination with medical science. So this is a
scientific story where yeah it's from a scientific journal as
a matter of fact, And there was some discussion about
whether or not we should talk about this, but I
think in the interest of science and the fact that
(11:46):
Danielle's not here. Why not? In the interests of science
and only science, A team of doctors has documented what
they have called a curious case of rectal ejaculation thirty
three year old man. He sought medical attention after five
days of pain in his testicles. It turned out to
be the latest and a long line of problems in
(12:08):
that area. For the last two years. He had been
passing gas in his urine. It's called new maturia. He'd
been did what new materia? Huh, it's a medical turn
gas from the front. Yeah, what Remember, this is medical science.
Speaker 7 (12:27):
I know.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
I'm just trying to understand it. This is how see.
This is like going back to high school for me.
I'm still confused. He was urinating fecal matter. That's fecal uria.
Really yeah, oh that's not good, and passing a substantial
amount of urine and the other fun stuff that comes
out of there. Yet Okay, got it from his rectum.
There's not a medical word for that. So basically, the tubes,
(12:49):
the tunnels, right, everything was reversed. It was reversed, so
everything was swimming upstream. Yes, so all liquids, solids and
gases were not going out of the passage. They traded
sally passed through. Got it, God, I'm understanding this. So
he was explaining it. Thank you. Remember this is just
because it's medical science. It is you were pre med.
(13:10):
I mean, but the guy didn't go for help until
he was feeling pain in the in the nether regions.
Like this was two years of this. How do how
do you do this? How does everything go wrong for
two years and you go, hey, you know what, I
think I should check this out? How do you let
this go on for it's the dog houses, the How
(13:31):
do you let this go on for two years? I
don't get it. This makes no sense. You don't realize
it's wrong. Right, You're sitting on the toilet and you
look in which we all do, and you see this something.
All right, let's get back to the medical science. The
medical team who published their case in a medical journal.
They found the patient to have a swollen testicle. Labs
(13:54):
showed signs of a urinary tract infection, while a digital
rectal exam that's doctor jellyfinger showed signs of a problem
in his rectal wall. A CT scan produced a much
better look at the problem. It showed a gas filled structure.
Further tests confirmed the presence of a fistula. That's a
normal passageway between the urethra and the rectima through which
(14:17):
the various fluids and solid has been passing. So he
had a fart bomb and the wrong place. Is that
what you're saying. Upon further investigation, they found their two
years prior, around the onset of symptoms, he'd been in
a three week coma following cocaine intoxication. During his hospital state,
he was fitted with the Foley catheter, during which the
(14:39):
injury is likely caused. They put the catheter in wraw.
Certain he screwed up the plumbing. It's plumbing was backwards.
I've never heard of this in my life. That is bad,
never heard of this in my life. Think about having
a plumber come to your house and they make a mistake.
How upset you must be. Could you imagine this happening
to your body. You talk about not being to see
(15:00):
the tyreeg Hill video. This is a thousand times There's
no way I could ever. This is a thousand times worse.
No way, couldn't do it. Why would you wait two years?
I don't understand that maybe he was enjoying it. I
don't know. Things are going wrong here. Do you think
he enjoyed it? I don't know. Maybe he thought he
was special. I cannot speak for him. I'm just speaking
(15:20):
from a medical perspective here. Okay, he's fine, Now, he's okay.
I've never heard of that in my line. Did they
reverse the plumbing? They reversed the curse? All right, going
in through the outdoor. I can't believe we did go
through that. And legally, yes, yes, we have the uh,
we have the check in coming up mix, which has
nothing to do with that. No, it's not scientific. No,
(15:41):
yesterday we did uh, what's your favorite cover songs? We
got a lot of people call in with some great songs.
Oh my god. We got talkbacks till like midnight Life,
some versions of some covers I'd never heard before. Yeah,
which was really cool. Yeah. So what we're gonna do
is the reverse. It's kind of like this guy. We're
going to reverse it. We reverse the plumbing. Okay, So
instead of what's your favorite cover songs? Name a song
(16:01):
that should never be covered? Blasphemous cover song? Yes, that
should never ever be covered? I have one. There's no
way you could cover this legitimately, it's huge. No one
could do.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
It, right?
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Is this a teaser? You're gonna tell us now? I'll
tell you now. Okay. Bohemian Rhapsody, that's a good one.
You could not cover that song. That's would you possibly
do that? You couldn't. I mean you could, but it
would suck, right, it would be cartoonish. I can tell
you mine. Go ahead, hot for teacher, that's true. Yeah,
you can't play like Eddy van Halen. You just can't.
(16:35):
Well you can try. See this is what it would
sound like. This is the inverted harmony you come to
this skisis that's screw me up? Screw up my head? No,
don't touch it. What are some songs that should never
be covered? Six one seven, nine hundred point seven. We
(16:59):
got to check in?
Speaker 8 (16:59):
Next one two, check check just check it in on
my body.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
It's time to check in.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Check in.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Chuck on Boston's Classic Rock and one point seven w ZLX.
Grab the phone six point seven nine three one hundred
point seven. You can text wzlex and your message to
seven oh four to seven ozh, or download the free
iHeartRadio app and use that talkbag button. Our check in
Today is the flip side of yesterday's check in, where
(17:28):
we're asking what's your favorite cover song? Today we're asking
what song should never be covered? It's untouchable, blasphemy, can
never do as good a job as the original, leave
it alone. I gave out my example. I think Bohemian Rhapsody.
It's a good choice. I could never cover that. And agreement,
and already we have controversy here off the.
Speaker 9 (17:48):
Talkbags, Chuck, I don't know how you can say that
Bohemian Rhapsody is you can't cover it. Queen literally has
a new singer and they tour with someone news, So
I don't know how that's any different than having a
cover song made.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
That doesn't count. That doesn't count that Adam Lambert singing it. No, No,
I didn't count. No one re recorded it and released
it correct. That's the point. That's It's like when Sammy
Hagar joined Van Halen, they still did some David Lee
Roth stuff. They weren't it they're covering it. It was
the band's sing. We're talking about a completely different artist
covering a song. Journey has the new song, so it'd
(18:23):
be like if we had a brand new band, Chuck,
Nolan and the Nolan Kites and we did you know
we HAMI raapsody. That would be blasphemy. I would never
touch that in my band. Now, good morning, Brian, Good morning, Brian.
Speaker 7 (18:39):
Hey, good morning guys.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Here you what's your song?
Speaker 1 (18:43):
So I have a.
Speaker 6 (18:44):
Very controversial statement to make here, AND's let's talk about
the original. The original is Paul Pena in the early seventies,
and the song is jet air Liner, which was later
covered by Steve.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
And made popular huge song.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
And I know everybody loves the Steve Miller Jet Airliners version,
but until you hear the original, uh, you don't know
what you're missing. And ten times better should never have
been covered. The original have should have been brought to
popularity in it in its error.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
That's a bold state. That's a bold state.
Speaker 6 (19:27):
So everybody's got homework to do. Paul Panna jet Airliner,
the original version, It is as great as his soulful
music could ever get.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Tyler did some research on this local guy. I had,
I don't know if he's a local guy, but I
had our crack music research staff look up the info.
And the thing you need to know, Brian, is that
that Paul Penia album called New Train wasn't released until
the year two thousand, so no one knew the original version.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
Correct, but it was written, and it was written back
in the seventh in the early seventies. And the reason
that Steve Miller ended up with the song is one
of his one of the musicians in his band co
wrote the song with him, and that musician either later
or was also in with Steve Miller at the time.
(20:19):
I said that was not written to be a Steve
Miller song at that moment, so I think Steve Miller
heard it and gobbled it up. But it's an absolute
amazing song. I don't know if you guys have a
clip of it and you could play it, but it's
an absolutely amazing song. And once you hear that version,
I think you start to question Steve Miller's.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Touch, right, all right, Well, Brian, he's been holding this
in for fifty years since starting to question the loss though,
so apparently he wants to go into the wayback machine
and change time from the year two thousand back seventy three,
reverse it right, and we can't do that. Last time?
Check Marty, what's your song?
Speaker 7 (21:01):
Good morning?
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Uh?
Speaker 8 (21:02):
A song that should never be covered Roadhouse Blues by
the Door.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
Oh yes, and I find don't touch that.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
Finding this cover of Jimmy fallonog absolutely makes that the fact.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Oh what is that from?
Speaker 8 (21:19):
He He's live.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
Somewhere, He's in Brooklyn, Jimmy Fallon, He's wearing a card again.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Everything is wrong. They could be wrong with this cover. No, no, no, no, no, no,
stop that that is a great example of a song.
They should never be touched. I agree, Thank you, Marty.
All right. We also have Howie here, Howie what's your song?
Speaker 10 (21:40):
Well, this song is because of the pure attitude and
the rest of the country may not agree, but nobody
should ever cover from shipping up to Boston.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
I don't think you can.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Yeah, I think you can. I agree with that one, which, yeah,
you It would be a disgrace, total disgrace. I don't
think anybody could else could do that besides the drop
Cake Murphy's. But that energy, the energy, energy, the attitude.
Speaker 10 (22:06):
You gotta be from here, you gotta You may visit
and want to do it, don't do it.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
That's a good one, thank you. I agree with that one.
I'm on board with that one. Yeah, Mike, what's your song?
What is your your song that should never be covered?
Never even think about it?
Speaker 7 (22:21):
Who where's the cult?
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Don't hear the reaper, don't feel the raper?
Speaker 4 (22:25):
I don't.
Speaker 7 (22:27):
All time classic?
Speaker 3 (22:28):
I mean, is it the is it the secret of
the cow bell? What is it? I was just gonna
say that every time I listen to it, I can
just see Christopher walking going and I have the fever
more cowbell. I guess that's it's so associated with that.
I don't think you could cover it, but I wouldn't
mind hearing someone do it, and maybe do a heavier
(22:50):
version of it. I go, I don't think it's heavy hair.
Let's take a listen to listen to this.
Speaker 5 (22:54):
They went lighter on it. They got rid of all
that cow bell because this don't fear the reaper.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
Who is this?
Speaker 5 (23:05):
It's a man called keep Shelley and athletes. I just
pulled it up quick to see what was covered.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
And never cover this song. The dinner specials tonight are
Chicken Palm and the Reason like the music we have.
That's the music you have in the background when you
have a dinner at a wedding. It's like that and
Kenny g Hey, we're gonna talk back.
Speaker 11 (23:25):
Good morning, guys. I'm gonna have to say, uh, Mom,
I'm coming home.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
I got it. You know what, I'll agree with that
because it's so personal and special to Ozzie. Only be
tough to fake that emotion, especially right now, especially maybe
down the road a couple of years or so. Maybe maybe,
But that's a song he wrote for Sharon. It's so
I mean, not that other songs on personal, but the
emotion that comes with it. I don't know if anybody
(23:52):
could could equal that. Yeah, I don't know, maybe not.
I don't know. I don't think Underwood did a version.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Of that live.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
Oh she did, yeah, Country fight it. I'm not even
gonna carry Underwood, who sings the Something eight football theme
carry under yes again. That's that's along the lines of
Celine Dion covering a CDC that we played yesterday. It's
just so bad. It's it's just not right. No, it's
not six hundred point seven download the free iHeart Radio
app used the talk bag button. What is that song
(24:21):
that is so sacred? No one should ever even think
about making a cover? Checking with Chuck here at ZLX,
the check Villain morning Show on Boston's Classic Rock one
point seven w CLX.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
And wherever you may roam on the free iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Everybody in the poll. We're doing the check in six, one, seven, nine,
one hundred point seven. You get download the free iHeart
Radio app and leave us a talk back.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
There.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
We are asking what song is so great, so incredible
in its original form that it could never be covered
by anybody else. Ever, you cannot touch that song of
it alone? Yeah, I don't even think of it, don't
even consider it. Yeah, but I want to put a
different spin up. No, nope, you can't do it too.
It's blasphemous. Got some talk bags here.
Speaker 8 (25:10):
The worst are covers like Metallica's cover of Turn the Page.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Which is totally useless. Oh, that's like the greatest cover.
That is a good cover. Really, you don't like it
the collar there? You like the originals? Really? I did
like that cover. I like both versions, the original versions
cool because it's interesting. It's this classic seventies story song.
I just I don't know. I can't do it. See.
(25:36):
The reason why I think it's so good is because
it's a story about being a road dog. But it's
not their story, I know. But that's why they could
have written a cool story. That's what I thought you
could have. You don't dare take a stand? You don't, well,
you should probably get to Cheryl your holding on line three? Really,
I think she agrees with Pelosi. Cheryl, what do you think.
Speaker 6 (25:58):
Is the best page? Is what Elsey? I love?
Speaker 7 (26:04):
Turn the page?
Speaker 3 (26:06):
What you're saying here? What Cheryl's saying there? Almost I
didn't know Bob Seer was that revered. It's a great song.
I get it. But Metallica's version is iconic in a
collectible place. What are you doing throwing the empties in
the recycling kind of a night you have last night?
Cheryl Metallic had changed some of those words.
Speaker 7 (26:30):
On that song.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
You know what's right? She's throwing stuff around, she's pissed,
she's angry. All right, Well, thank you Cheryl. Thirty years later,
she still pissed about Metallica doing turn the page things
around the double wide very bill what's your song?
Speaker 7 (26:48):
So does a song turn the page? That was originally
was written by Rudy Toom Wait, but amos did I
say turn it on? I'm sorry? One Burbon one Scotch one, yeah, yeah,
And but amos Billboard originally saying that years ago. Yeah,
(27:11):
it does such a great job with that, a lot
better than what I thought it was originally written.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
So so you're saying the cover is better than the original, exactly. Absolutely,
it needed to becoming.
Speaker 7 (27:24):
I first heard the original. I first heard the original, going,
isn't that a thoro? A good song? But no, it
was done by that guy Amos ways ago, and I
think it's just so much better of a song hearing
that one now, So is that actually?
Speaker 3 (27:40):
It is it? It's definitely not a rock song, I'll
tell you that. What the hell is this?
Speaker 9 (27:50):
So?
Speaker 3 (27:52):
I don't think that's going to get the crowd going
in a show. I could see myself in a bar,
grimy bar, somebody sitting on the stage, tiny little stage,
singing that song. Completely different. That's cool though, totally. I
don't think it'd be possible to cover China Grow by
the Doobie brother Grove. What a wan wow, what a
what a wow wow? You know they have a specific sound.
(28:12):
It would be difficult, that is true, would be difficult.
Speaker 8 (28:15):
Yeah, morning guys needed rules interpretation here, and they both
have to do with Stone Temple Pilots.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
First.
Speaker 8 (28:20):
I'm thinking of the comeback with Wiland and Stone Temple
pilots doing Roadhouse Blues, but they had Robby Krieger on guitar,
and that was that Hollywood House of Blues. Then they
also did Wichita Lineman, which is a clean, clean example,
but with Glenn Campbell.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
So what do you think?
Speaker 11 (28:42):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (28:42):
All right, originals? I don't think the counts is a
true if the original artist is involved in the cover,
is that a cover? No?
Speaker 5 (28:49):
Like, that's why the En thing isn't a cover, because
it's the band Queen is playing it, even though they
have a different lead singer.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Right, But again, we're talking about songs that are being
recorded and released, not just in concert. Everybody covers stuff
in concert, that's true. So yeah, I'm not big on
the I'm not familiar with Glenn Campbell's catalog, so I
can't speak. I can't speak on that one.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
All right.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
The turn the page argument continues here with Tim. Tim,
what do you think?
Speaker 9 (29:15):
Well?
Speaker 7 (29:16):
I want to agree with Tyler and I want to
disagree with all the other call is very good song,
very good radition, very powerful.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Agree. I agree too. I like both versions. It's like
one of my top five favorite covers of all time.
Speaker 7 (29:31):
I don't know what other people are talking about.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Yeah, no, I like it. It's the most unlikely song
for a heavy metal band to do. Yeah, so it's
taking a chance. It's taking you're gonna go out there.
You're gonna take a chance an iconic song. You're saying,
we're gonna do this too, Yeah, and we're gonna release it.
When you think about guns and Roses knocking on Heaven's door, yeah,
like that was a that's a Bob Dylan mellow and
(29:54):
they rocked it and they made it their own and
it worked. Yeah. So that's like you could say that
might have been oh my god, you should never cover that.
But if you do it different, you do it right,
it can be great. It has to be just screw
it up so you can. That's true.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Let me just tell you a little bit of Jimmy
Hendricks Purple Haze should never be ever, ever, ever be redone.
Speaker 12 (30:19):
He is the man, the myth, no legend.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
Miss Danielle.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
A lot of Hendrick song has been covered though, Yeah,
I mean, hey, look, Stevie Rayvaughan did a great Voodoo Child.
Oh yeah, I mean, come on, but you need someone
of Stevie Rayvaughan's caliber to try and pull off Jimmy Hendricks.
The regular guitar play is not going to do Jimmy Hendrix.
Speaker 5 (30:44):
Yeah, that's a little garage fan and I really get
it that it's a couple of kids. Is the kids
a bunch of three kids? Three piece fan teas, drums
and guitar. That's really good though. The future of rock
(31:07):
and roll right there.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (31:09):
The one group song that you can't duplicate is Motley
Cruz kickstout.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
You're hot.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Really let me think about that. I mean I grew
up a Crew fan. Yeah, you can cover any one
of their songs. Yeah, you can. They're not they're not complicated,
They're not they're not that, they're not iconic, they're not
led Zeppelin. They're fun band, great band, but like they're not. Yeah,
you know, you can anybody what band has this covered this?
(31:42):
You're never going to get this.
Speaker 10 (31:46):
Is gonna be some country band in the country all
the way well.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
Blasco flats. Oh wow, that sounds like Vince Neil. It
almost sounds like, yeah, like when Vince Neil could sing.
He said it not made. Yeah, wow, that's a I
didn't know a country band doing kickst Out in my art. No,
but the vocals are close on that. Yeah, Carlito, what
do you think?
Speaker 7 (32:18):
Sweet Home Alabama? Leonard Skinner?
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Sweet Home Alabama? Now see, well didn't kid Rock rip
that off? Yeah he did, he did. He had a
big hit like twenty years ago.
Speaker 7 (32:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
That wasn't a cover, It was more of a sample. Yeah, okay,
but covering Sweet Home Alabama. I could see a lot
of bands doing, especially country artists.
Speaker 4 (32:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
I wouldn't call that one blasphemy. No, you're right, what
cover song? What? I'm sorry? What song should never be covered?
Is what we're doing for the check in six one, seven, nine, three, one,
one hundred point seven. There it is.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
I was right for it. Who is this?
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Is it a band?
Speaker 4 (32:59):
We?
Speaker 3 (33:00):
No, No, it's I think when it comes in it's
gonna be worse. Here comes to gethawk. I take it back.
You cannot cover you Sweet Home Alabama. But if you
are going to do it, do it with the kazoo.
This is the way to do it. Pass out kazoos
(33:21):
to the whole crowd. Everybody has a good old time.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
You know.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
The Kazoo Challenge is coming tomorrow for the Classic Rock Challenge.
Absolutely from the.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Showing dot Com. Do you see Lex Studios. It's almost perfect.
The only thing missing your voice.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
Voice.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
Use the top that feature on the iHeartRadio app. Then
make w CLEX your number one preset.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
We're doing the check in right here. What song should never, ever,
ever ever be covered? It's just too good. You can't
touch it.
Speaker 11 (33:51):
The song that you cannot cover. There's a ruption on
van handle a man many have tried, many have There
is only one Eddie van Halen.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
There could be only one. There is only one. There'll
never be another. Although have you seen the video of
his son Wolfgang playing that wolf. He is a monster talent,
he really is. He nails it, and he's got a
new album coming out like in a few weeks, probably
like three or four weeks. He does a song. There's
a new song he has called the End. He rips
(34:24):
this intro. It sounds like Eddie Van Halen reincarnated. But
he can get away with it. It was the last
time he came through. Here is a Big night Live.
You saw him there, Yeah, I saw him in concert.
Me Kenny Young caught around and we all went he crushed.
He's coming back again soon. He's so good. It's frightening
how good he is and the music's fantastic. If he
was alive in the eighties, this kid, he'd be a superstar.
(34:46):
Are you a fan? All right? Over here, i'mbout a
situation here? All right? This is interesting. Now here's a
song that is an iconic song. It's not a rock song,
but it's an iconic song, and it was given a
raw version justin what's your song?
Speaker 7 (35:04):
Yeah. So until a few years ago when I heard
the rock cover, I would have said sound of Silence,
but I think Disturbed it an amazing grandition and actually
did it better than the original.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Mm hmm. I've heard people say this before, I have
Simon and garfld. I mean, that's that's pretty mellow. David
Dreams has got a real haunting voice though. That's which
makes it. This is even more mellow from David.
Speaker 7 (35:26):
Draymond is just so intense in the song.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
I remember singing this in the fourth grade at the assembly.
This version you do it was not this version now.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
It was landed in there.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
It is there, it is God. I heard this a
mon haunting.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
It's building.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Yes, perfect for Halloweens. All right, let's do one more.
Speaker 11 (36:05):
I know it's probably not in there Cox Chandra but
nobody should ever touch any DG song.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Absolutely right. I disagree with that person who wants to
pgs are geniuses. You leave it alone, genius. Really, let's
get a band again. We'll cover Jive to Humongous the
disco era. They owned it. Saturday Night Fevers soundtrack was
(36:33):
number one for how many years? Forever? Here's a mashup?
All right, you're making people crazy? Ad can you cover
this blast? It's classic rock one hundred point seven w
z LX.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
Set us straight. We only think we know what we're
talking about.
Speaker 12 (36:57):
Used the top that feature on the iHeart Radio Apple
x w ZX and your message to seven oh four
seven our or give a sixty one seven nine three
one one hundred and twenty seven and answer the call
of the Chuck Gullen Morning Show on Boston Classic.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
Rock nine twenty three. This is usually about the time
I start to crash, all right with like yesterday when
you said PELUSI and yeah, I couldn't even pronounce this.
Yeah you get you get that way we all do.
It's okay, And I'm off the coffee right now. You
guys are making fun of me. I'm not drinking coffee today.
Why not, though, I have a sixteen ounce coke. Call
right here. That's not what I asked you. I said,
why can't you drink coffee? I'll tell you because coffee
(37:33):
started to burn my mouth. It's like I don't have
the acid or something crazy. I had a weird reaction
to after drinking coffee. For years, I never drank coffee
until we had kids, and then they had me up
all night as babies and I gotta drink some coffee.
Then I really got into it. But now it's like
it's burning my mouth or something. I never heard of
anybody getting sores in their mouth from coffee? Is this?
Speaker 4 (37:56):
Am I the only one?
Speaker 3 (37:56):
Pelosi?
Speaker 4 (37:57):
If you heard of this story.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
I looked it up. It happens a lot. I don't
have mouth sores like it's like an abrasion. It's like
a like a chemical reaction. And he shorts the coffee. Yes,
because I stopped the coffee. And now for my wake
up drink. I have a nice Coca Cola, you know
America's beverage exactly, and I'm fine, but I'm looking for
like an energy drink or something. I stopped at the
(38:19):
store and the mass Pike yesterday morning on the way
in here. Scary it like a quarter to four in
the morning. People who they hang out, very colorful characters.
But I was going through the case. There are so
many energy drinks. I was looking at Celsius, Monster drinks,
all this stuff, and I don't know what to get there.
It's all sugar, dude. And then I see kids as
(38:39):
young as ten now are coming in to the hospital
emergency rooms with symptoms like chest pain, wrapid, heart rates, anxiety.
I don't want that. It's it's heavy caffeine, heavy sugar.
Whatever they put in these things. It affects your body.
Remember the story I told you about when I drank
too much mountain dew. Yes, I mean it happens. It
affects your body. Ended up in the hospital. You end
(39:01):
up in a hospital with the doctor putting his finger
up you. But I had doctor jellyfinger in there, and
I had just had over I just abundance of gas.
Like they realized, he emptied out like a balloon. Oh
did they get the catheter right? Yeah they got that
the right way. Yeah. I didn't have a revers little fortune, thankfully.
But I guess this is a This is a big
problem with energy drinks since they're saying, some people drink
two or three of these a day. That's god, six
(39:22):
hundred milligrams of caffeine. Yeah, I know. I know guys
over the years, they would especially like back in the
two thousands and twenty tens, guys at work would just
have constantly had like a monster energy drink in their hands. Yeah,
and I'd be like, man, at first of all, I
don't even like to taste it. It tastes like crap.
It's really sweet. Energy drinks are tough. I got my
cousin hooked on red Bull and vodka in Vegas.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
All right.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
I've seen that people drinking red Bull if they're working
against each other, they work against each other. But what
happens is if you're not used to drinking that stuff.
Because that was like my Vegas drink, right, red Bull
and whatever. And that's what happened to his heart. So
he was we were in this we had this big hotel,
we had like this junior sweet and so he's on
the other side of the room and I can and
I wake up in the middle of the night and
I'm like, what are you doing. He's like sitting there
(40:04):
staring at the ceiling, speaking in tongue because his heart
was just pounding from all the red bull And I'm like,
why isn't my heart? I get my body's just uice
to the caffeine. I guess exactly. That's why people go
into emergency rooms. Take those, you know, once once once
in a while. All of a sudden, you start sounding
like that, never mind that. Drink the water.
Speaker 8 (40:26):
Drink the water.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
You'll be nice. A nice glass of cold milk. That's it,
you'll be fine.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
The last thing this show is a communication breakdown.
Speaker 12 (40:35):
Call allan, speak your mind as six one seven nine

Speaker 4 (41:24):

Speaker 3 (41:29):
Yeah there we got's go countdown is on to six
o eight pm. First pitch on the Bronx. That's where
you're going to bed. Yeah, exactly, not long after that.
It's true. Don't fear party people. The Red Sox are
five and two at Yankee Stadium this year. What's your prediction?
I think they I think they win tonight. You gotta
(41:50):
win with Lucas Giolito. I mean with Garrick roche on Dail.
I think they win tonight. That's that's a given. Tomorrow
night's a little iffy. Bao has been sketchy at best.
He's been struggling mightily Game three. Anything can happen in
Game three without Giolito. That's a rough one. So they
got to win two in a row. They got to win.
Some must win in my opinion. Absolutely, you go behind
the eight ball. It's a three game series here. Every
(42:12):
game is it must win a three game series. It's true.
We get to watch the whole thing though, before we
go to bed, which is sweet. We will have highlights
tomorrow morning, yes, hopefully no low lights. Hopefully no government shutdown.
Carter Allen can fly back tomorrow, Damielle can fly back
this weekend. They're all gonna be stuck wherever they are,
and then we'll be left to scrambled. It would be
(42:33):
so funny if it wasn't happening to you. Yeah, it's great.
We might have to look for some uh, some temporary
workers here. Six one, seven, nine three, one hundred point seven.
