Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ragway alongside Cameron Parker, the producer of the program. You know,
I haven't heard you say anything about it. You're a
real modest, unassuming guy anyway, so I'm not surprised by
this at all.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
But your favorite.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
NBA team has won fifteen consecutive games. The Oklahoma City Thunder,
in case nobody had noticed, is thirty and five. By
the way, he's toill not the best record in the NBA.
That belongs to Cleveland Cavaliers, who are thirty one and four.
And guess which two teams play this week Wednesday night ESPN.
(00:44):
Let's get it, baby, you're all fired up about that?
I am, yeah, yeah, last night's gaming against Boston, which
I was watching a little bit at Moody Center yesterday.
I need okay Seeing in Texas basketball to get together
in like maybe not schedule their games at the same time,
because it keeps happening. It's all right, it's all right,
but that's his game, so much fun. Craig okay See
going down into halftime down by ten, Chris Stops is
(01:04):
playing incredible, and then Shaye takes over in the fourth
quarter lou Dort with some big shots. Boston only scored
twenty seven points in the second half on twenty percent shooting,
and it's the longest win streak in OKCE basketball history,
and it might be one of the most funnest teams
in OKACE basketball history. And they've had some great teams
obviously with Russ, Katie and Harden, but they have what
(01:27):
a seven game lead over Houston for the one seed
in the Western Conference, and had had now I've had
I think four straight comeback to the second half, the
same thing against the New York Knicks, who went into
that game on a ten game win streak this past weekend,
beat them, beat Boston yesterday, and now face the other
hottest team in the league Cleveland Wednesday night. A real
(01:49):
tough schedule, but a lot of fun basketball. And yesterday
felt like an NBA playoff game. And it's frustrating that game.
I know that there's football going on, but that game
should have been on like Pride Time TV, not a
not an NBA TV.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Come on, NBA, what are we doing here? Bud?
Speaker 3 (02:05):
I love that thunder up.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
What was the team they beat on New Year's Eve?
Speaker 1 (02:13):
On New Year's Eve, they were way down and then
they had like a thirty four to eight run and
overhauled them and beat them.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Was it Houston?
Speaker 1 (02:23):
It was not Houston. Let me pull it up here. Okay,
there was a team they were way down.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
To It's I think it's it's been four straight games
where they've been down going in the halftime and then
and came back Clippers. I believe it was the Clippers
or t Wolves, Tea Wolves, That's who it was. It
was Minnesota. That was a fantastic game. Okay, there's a
reason I bring that up. On New Year's Eve.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Night before the Peach Powl, myself, Roger Wallace, Noah Gross
from k E Shan, my son Andy, my son Jason,
and a statistician Steve Leech's the six of us were
sitting at a table at a local restaurant right almost
right next door, just across the street up one block,
(03:08):
I guess from the team hotel.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
That's why we went there.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
And it had good reviews and so we were there
and uh, there were a couple other people from a
network at the other table and we were there. There
was a little bit of weight, but we got in
sat down. From the time I ordered till the time
we left was two hours and had never got any food.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Yeah, they it just kept they kept coming back and apologizing.
Kitchens backed up, and it had it not been for
the Fiesta Bol going on, which we were watching on
the main screens, we just left. We would have left earlier.
Finally we just got them left. I'm not gonna wait
any longer. This is ridiculous. We were there for two
(03:55):
hours and then we left, and then we went to
uh there was another restaurant in the back of the
hotel that we discovered and we were able to get
some dinner pretty late there. But while we were watching
the Fiesta Bowl, my son Jason, who like you as
a thunderfan, was first watching on his phone and then
he saw it. It was on another screen that had it
(04:16):
on another screen in that in that restaurant, and he
was watching the rest of that. And when I first looked,
you know, they were way way behind you, and all
of a sudden they turned around one anyway that that
came to mind, and thinking about that.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
There's some sort of like cardiac kids. If it turns
out right now the way they're coming and coming back
in these second.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Half Let's hear from some more Longhorn players from the media.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Zoom.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
This is from the Longhorn's hard hitting sophomore linebacker Anthony
or as many Colin and Hill.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
And as it sent a good shock wave through the
building that y'all are underdogs this week.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
We never consider ourselves underdogs. I mean, we just want
to go out there and play and execute the best
of our ability, So we kind of don't look at
what they sound and all that. We just want to
tune all that up. Hey, what are you seeing Will Howard?
That makes him a dangerous quarterback? And how excited are
you to prove the critics wrong that say that the
long runs are going to get the beat? So we
(05:15):
kind of actually played him last year a lot, so
I mean he's an elite quarterback.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
I mean he has a big frame, he can run
with these two.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
He puts the ball in in at least spots deep
down the field intermediately, So we kind of have to
limit him and just make sure we got him under control.
Speaker 6 (05:29):
Our next question is gonna come from Thomas Jones. Go ahead, Anthony,
good afternoon. Hey, have you guys learned anything last couple
of weeks playing these mobile quarterbacks like like club Nick
at Clemson And last week there was one stay.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
We kind of just learned that we have to learn
how to plaster a little better, and we've been working
at practice plastering in the secondary and just being able
to keep contained and have guys ready to break the
container and get ready to go for them.
Speaker 7 (05:57):
Hey, and hopefully you can hear me a whole It
was good. But just want to talk about the extended season.
I know the body doesn't feel great with more games
on the schedule, but I am interested to know just
the chemistry wise, right, having more time with the guys
on and off the field. Do you see the benefits
of having more games on the schedule.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
I mean it's awesome. I mean going to the bowl games,
I mean we were playing a game with each other
a lot. We had a lot of time to spend
with each other. So it's been pretty good to get
the next time with some of the guys and some
of thenationra linebakers, some of the seniors that you know
are going to be gone next year, so it's been
pretty cool getting extra time with them and just shutting
with them.
Speaker 8 (06:31):
And do you feel like y'all lack killer enstinct as
a team and you know, have an issue of putting
away teams.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
I mean, we're going against the elite football team, so
we know everything is not gonna be perfect, But I
feel like it's all about how you finish. And I
feel like a lot of these games we're finishing, we're
putting them away when it matters.
Speaker 9 (06:51):
And just talk about the need for y'all to get
to Howard, to get him off his spot, to get
him unsettled. Y'all did have a strip sack against him
last year.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
I mean, we want to get every quarterback off the spot.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
I mean, what makes it better for the secondary and
some of the guys that are are covering. So we
want to give off the spot to make him, make
him see things a little first hee and limit his
time in the pocket.
Speaker 10 (07:17):
Yeah, Anthony, Not necessarily their personnel, but stylistically, when you
look at Ohio State on tape, what are some of
the signatures you notice from this this chip Kelly Ryan
Day offense? And do they stylistically they remind you of
anybody you guys face this year.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
They haven't really reminded me of anybody that we face,
but just looking at their offense, I mean, they have
a lot of different things that they do. They have
really lead receivers to a lead beats and a great quarterback.
So it's going to be a challenge for us to
stop him, and I feel like we're up to the challenge.
Speaker 6 (07:47):
If you have a question, please make sure you use
to raise your hand function and we will call on
you to make sure we get your question in.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Hey, Anthony, just watching Trevion Henderson and Quinn Shawn and Judkins.
What's it like preparing the two different backs of that caliber.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
It's it's been pretty good. I mean it's been a
fun week of practice prepared for them. I mean they're
really patient backs, both of them there. You can tell
that their coach really will and they're really a lead
out the backfield.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
They can catch out the backfield.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
So it's gonna be a challenge for the linebackers and
we've been doing that in practice, trying to work to
get better to working with them.
Speaker 11 (08:19):
Hey, what are the ticket requests? I mean, it's got
to be difficult in a college football semi final, but
they excited for you within that to kind of go
back to.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Your home home area there.
Speaker 11 (08:31):
Yeah, just how much excitement is there for you going
back to ATG Stadium.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
It's really signed. I mean, the family don't got to
travel nowhere. Mom and dad, little brother don't have to
really travel anywhere to get to the game. You're gonna
have a couple extra family members there. So it's been
it's gonna be really cool. I want a national state
championship there, so it's gonna be fun trying to.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Get away back in that stadium.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
And you know now that you everyone's wanted the playoffs forever.
Now that you guys are halfway through this, you know,
with the length of the season, I mean, how do
you think the guys really do feel physically aside from
the normal bumps and bruises.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
I mean, at the end of the day, we summed
up through this, so we can't really complain mentally.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
We feel like everybody's doing good.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
You know, your body may not feel the best, but
at the end of the day, nobody cares. We have
to go execute it and get in the training room.
Speaker 8 (09:20):
Hey.
Speaker 12 (09:20):
And on that note, I wanted to ask what are
some of the things that you guys maybe did differently
or the start this year or maybe early in the
season to prepare your bodies, and maybe what the coach
did to help you be ready to play this long
of a season just an.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
Extra time in the hot tub. I mean they taught
to took some of the load of off of us
in practice. I mean a little bit less team run
and just little stuff to get our bodies prepared for
the long season because we knew we feel like we
would be this far.
Speaker 8 (09:49):
And it's y'all's first year in the league and they
are the only SC team still standing.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Yeah, what does that say about Texas?
Speaker 5 (09:57):
I mean, we feel like we're in the leaite football,
so we kind of don't think about what other teams
are doing. We just focus on ourselves and so it
feels good being chill in the playoffs and hopefully we
can do it again next year.
Speaker 10 (10:10):
And Anthony Sark said after the SEC Championship, you guys
got to come to Jesus meeting about penalties. Cut them
down against Clemson. It was in double digits again. I guess,
I guess Arizona State, When when the competition kicks up,
your facing elite competition, game moves a little faster, how
do you remain cognizant of not committing penalties, kind of
staying within yourself, but knowing that you do have to
(10:32):
play a little faster.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
I feel like it kind of all starts off with practice.
I mean, you have to execute and practice really well.
Me have make sure you have good feet, make sure
you're doing everything right in practice so you can go
out and do the stuff that you want to do
in the game.
Speaker 8 (10:46):
Yeah. I was just curious, and if you know any
of the Ohio State buck Eyes personally, if you're friends
with any of them.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
I know a couple of them, but I kind of
don't really talk to them during these times. We can
hang out after the season or whatever, but I really
don't want to, you know, I really communicate right now.
Everybody's kind of locked in and doing their own thing.
Did they recruit you, Yeah, they recruited me a little bit. Yeah,
I was recruited by them. Did you visit nod I
never got up there. It was kind of a little far,
so it's kind of hard for me to get up there.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
He was dialed in on Texas from the start. Anthony
Hill love him. It's great to visit with all Right,
We're gonna hear from more Longhorn players and from coach
Sark when we continue on sports Radio AM thirteen Under
the Zone.
