Speaker 1 (00:00):
With you up till five o'clock this afternoon. Then it'll
be a Cavino and Rich coming up after that. Long
Warn Football team has its third practice of the Paul
Camp workouts. That's tonight. They've had two practices in the books.
We heard from Anthony Hill and from C. J. Baxter
just a little bit ago here in the first hour
(00:22):
of the program. A little bit later on this hour,
we'll hear from Jake Major's Long Worn Center. We'll look
forward to bringing you that coming up in the four
o'clock hour. Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine Managing editor Greg
Tepper joins us, and we'll have a preview of for
a football across the step Texas, including those schools in
(00:45):
the Greater Roustin area. We've been doing some previews of that,
and that kind of goes hand in hand with the
magazine giveaway that we've been doing through our talk back feature.
And like I said, we've got all these nice toys
and things like that here at iHeart, so we're able
to use the talk back feature instead of just randomly
(01:07):
giving them out over there. So the way it works
is if you have the iHeartRadio app on your phone,
that's where you start from. If you don't have it,
you can download it. It's free, doesn't cost anything. Then
from that app, you go to the iHeartRadio app and
then you click onto AM thirteen under the zone it
(01:28):
comes up. There's two buttons. A white button that you
push if you want to just listen to the show, obviously,
but there's a red button that has a white microphone
on it. You push that red button, you leave us
a message fifteen twenty twenty five seconds about what you
look forward to and anticipate from the magazine every year.
So we've got yet another one. All right, let's listen.
(01:52):
This is an example we're talking about. Here's listen to
these responses. Here an example of what we're talking about about.
Folks who interested in getting the magazine. All we ask
you to do is leave us a message via the
talkback feature like these.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Mathis, Charles Mathis, I was calling about the Dave Campbell's magazine.
The reason that I'm so interested in the magazine is, gosh,
it's been twenty fifteen ish. My youngest daughter was a
senior at Saint Marcus High School playing basketball, and in
the stands we met a young man whose name was
ish Ish Johnson. He was a reporter then for the
(02:29):
Saint Marcus Daily Record and now I think he's on
the staff for Dave Campbell's. I've always followed the magazine.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Football and I also like.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Football, and I also like.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Thank Greig, big fan, been listening forever, way back when,
all the way till current. I always hear you talk
about the mag know about the magazine. Never had one.
Let me get that magazine, Craig, Icky chick, Craig. I'd
love to show guys good work.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Okay, thanks, you're going to get one. We have your information,
so get a copy of the magazine. Yeah, we've been
giving the magazine away for twenty five This is the
I guess twenty six the year whatever that we're given
with only a year that there was one year we
didn't do it and then that was during that was
(03:27):
during the pandemic. Other than that, we've been giving it
away for like twenty five years in the past. So
it's real easy to do. Like we said, that was
an example, you just leave us a message on the
talk back feature. So all three of those folks will
get magazine. Those three guys will get magazines as well.
And we're giving away our final ten copies of it.
(03:48):
As I mentioned, this is a good warm up for
you the listener. And here's what I mean by that.
During the course of this football season and even really beyond,
we're going to give away lots of things on this program,
(04:11):
like Hardball. Harge will do the same thing, So that's
coming up and his exciting new show that he has
with Mark Henry, which is coming up just around the
corner of the morning kick off, so looking forward to that.
So they'll be giving away things as well, and we
certainly will. And what we're going to do is that's
(04:34):
how we're going to shift into it is the talkback feature.
So like during the course of the football season, this
upcoming Texas Long Worn Football season, we're going to give
away tickets to Long Worn games. This year, we will
give away tickets to games, and in order for you
(04:55):
to win said tickets, you'll need to participate via talk back. Now,
there'll be some contesting because it's not like you know
with the magazine where we have multiple copies to give
away and things like that. There's going to be like
a pair of tickets to give away for a home
game during a week and so there'll be some contesting
involved with that, but that's how it will be accessed
(05:18):
is through the iHeartRadio app and through our talk back feature.
So just wanted to let you know that that's a good
thing to understand about it. Okay. Update on the Olympics,
Team USA today set a new world record. Track and
field is underway now. They had the four by four
(05:41):
hundred mixed relay and so the four by four hundred
is men and women in the mixed relay and the
team of Vernon Norwood, Shamir Little, Kaylin Brown and Bruce
Deadman easily won goal and set a world record in
(06:02):
the process with a time of three seven forty one.
So they just they won handily on that, so congratulations
and winning another gold medal. Also, Leon Marshaun won his
fourth swimming goal gold medal. He's the French Star, so
he's won forty He's won four gold medals there and
(06:24):
he had previously won the four hundred am, the two
hundred butterfly and the two hundred backstroke. Cameron McVoy becoming
the first Australian man to win gold at these Games,
so he did it in the fifty free gold and
Kaylie McCown became the first woman to retain both of
her backstroke titles. She once again was able to get
(06:46):
passed Reagan Smith, the American challenger to win it with
an Olympic record time, and Smith took silver about a
half second behind, and Kylie Massey took bronze for Canada
as well. US men's three on three basketball team won
(07:07):
its first game after losing their first three the US
women's team and the men beat France and the women
did as well. They clinched the second straight winning the
women's three on three beating France fourteen thirteen. So they're
(07:29):
the reigning champions the US and we're able to win
by one. They have two more pool games to play,
so that moved up to sixth place, which would be
enough for them to reach the knockout phase if they
win one more. There are more games to go on
as well, so anyway, that's And then, in case you
(07:51):
didn't hear about it, the US Olympic men's soccer team
got knocked out in the quarterfinals. As now, remember this
is the under twenty three roster for the men they
play in the Olympics, not the national team which got
as we know, knocked out in the Copoa America, but
(08:11):
the World Cup is two years around the corner, and
a lot of these guys you figure might have a
shot to be on that national team, but they lost
today and got knocked out. So now that they've been
knocked out, they'll see it what they do in trying to,
you know, get the soccer team, both those who are
(08:33):
over the age of twenty three and under the age
of twenty three, to get the best team together to
qualify for the World Cup and be ready for the
World Cup coming up in twenty twenty six. All right,
so there's an Olympic update for you. Coming up next,
we'll hear some more long warning football conversation. We get
some other topics to get to in some Major League
Baseball and the NFL. There was actual NFL football played
(08:56):
last night, sort of, I mean not sort of. It
was is just not a lot of your headline guys,
but there were two NFL teams who actually played a
game last night. We'll get to that and more here
on a Friday afternoon on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred,
The Zone and the iHeartRadio app
