Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time now for our DJC Law Injury update, brought

(00:05):
to you by a good friend, Dan Christensen and the
great people at d j C Law. Here's the thing.
Normally we do the update on Thursday. We did not
do it yesterday, and the reason why is because the
SEC injury report only applies to conference games. So that's

(00:25):
why South Carolina Kentucky had an injury report last week
because it was conference game. But Texas, as we know,
does not have a conference game until September twenty eight.
So what we do is we find out from Sark
on Thursdays. You know where things are with the team.
The team is largely I use the word largely the

(00:46):
current group. The current roster is largely healthy. Now, this
obviously doesn't include those who were knocked out, you know,
with the season ending knee injury and an achilles injury,
you know CJ. Baxter and Christian Clark respectively. I'm talking
about guys who are who are playing and started the

(01:08):
season and are still playing and got a little bit
banged up. It was good to see Derek Williams come
back into the ballgame after he got banged up and
looked like he had a fumble recover that ended up
being overruled, but Eric, of course had an interception in
the game. But the biggest concern obviously is Jaden Blue.
And Blue had the ankle injury and yet returned to

(01:30):
the game. Later he worked at you know, Will Matthews,
our sideline reporter, was talking about how he was really
Jaden was really campaigning the training staff, the conditioning staff,
and the coaches. I'm good, I'm good, I can go
back in. Eventually, he did go back in and made
two big plays, a catch and run for a first

(01:53):
down and then of course obviously the touchdown catch and run.
He still needed this week to get the ankle completely healthy,
and I would say that it's safe to say he's
probably questionable to probable if you were to put the

(02:14):
category on him on that, But all sar Cassette is
because they're not required to do that until they get
into the conference games. What he has said is he's
been working really hard to make sure that he's ready
to go again on Saturday. So I think we'll see
him tomorrow night, but he may be a little more limited.
They're also still trying to get Ryan Nibblett more ingrained
into the running game. And in addition to that, Jared

(02:39):
Gibson has very much impressed them the freshman early on,
and Trey Wisner has been running tough. So those are
some notes there with regard to that and that as
our d JC law injury update. You'll have another one
tomorrow during pregame, right, have a couple. Yeah, and we
may not know any information on the texts. The UTSA

(03:01):
seems to be pretty banged up coming off that lost
to Texas State. Yeah, the offensive line is really kind
of whacked up for them. They're hoping to get their
left guard vn Ley Tatufu to Tafu back on the field.
They may get Mackay Hart, the right tackle back in
the starting wall, but they weren't going to know probably

(03:24):
until they went through maybe even today's walkthrough to have
a better indication about whether they could do that. Now
in terms of continuing with their matchups, we talked about
Owen mccowm is an interesting study. There's sophomore quarterbacks in
native textan out of Ross High, started off Colorado, transferred in.
He has had a rough go, has not thrown an interception,

(03:48):
and has completed sixty two percent of his passes, but
it's been hard for the offensive line to protect him
as well. And Eddie Lee Marberger, who was just a
flat out high school star down in the Rio Grand
Valley at sherry Land Pioneer, and we had highlights of

(04:10):
him seemingly every single week on our High School Scoreboard
Live show. Every time he runs, have we got another
Eddie Lee highlight. He's gotten some action as a touchdown
as an interception as well, but he is a guy
who adds a mobility issue as well. And when Andy

(04:33):
Everett was on the show with us the other day,
he said he expects to see both quarterbacks play, so
that could be a situation where they're, you know, trying
to keep him, keep him loose, keeping keep the guys available.
Devin mckun is really their leading receiving target. He's caught

(04:57):
seventeen passes for over one hundred yards and two touchdown
ounce this season. Willie McCoy is another guy, seven passes
for one hundred and eighteen yards and a score. He
was a junior college player, transferred in last year in
from Kilgore College. He's from bel Air in the Houston area.
Mcuna is from Jacksonville. Chris Carpenter, also from Jacksonville, came

(05:19):
in from Colorado, as did McCown and Jace Wilson is
a guy who's a dangerous target. Sophomore from Denton Geyer
also j Sparkman, has only caught one pass so far.
He's a Texas Tech transfer senior transferred originally from Longview
Pine Tree and then as Sart mentioned and he heard

(05:39):
it in the first hour of the program, Oscar Cardenas
seemingly he's been there forever. They're big, and he is big.
He's sixty four and he's two hundred and sixty five pounds.
They're big. Senior tied end at a Brandice High on
the north side of San Antonio, has caught a couple
of passes, including one for a touchdown. But it's the
running game that they're trying to get untracked, and I

(06:01):
hadn't been able to do that in large measure due
to injury and inefficiency. But one can lead to the other.
Of the of the offensive front, Cafornian Barnes and Robert
Henry are the two guys that Barnes is the you know,
one of the real big, heavy duty returning producer. But
he's had a tough time getting on track nine carries

(06:24):
twenty six yards. Robert Henry is their leading ground gainer
at fifty eight yards through two Paul games on fifteen carries.
Neither is a rushing touchdown as well. So those are
guys that they when Jeff Traylor was on our program
early in the week said we got to get those
guys going. We have to get those guys going. One

(06:45):
other curiosity on the offensive side is their slot receiver,
the guy who backs up Chris Carpenter David Amador. I
don't know if you recognize that name. He's a sophomore
from Galena Park North Shore. Amador was the guy who
had to take over quarterback for Galena Park North Shore

(07:05):
when their regular quarterback Caleb Bailey was injured two years ago.
And he took him all the way to the finals
and they were driving on Duncanville and they were on
the verge of making it another win over Duncanville and
he got stopped about a half yard shore and Colin Simmons,

(07:25):
now a Texas long Horne, was one of the ones
who held him up along with Alex January, and kept
him from being able to get a first down. Inside
the ten yard line and that preserved Duncanville's first ever
state championship. Amador was a great pass catching receiver in
high school, got kind of forced into playing quarterback and
did a really good job for them all over, but
he has not been a factor so far. And on
the defensive side for UTSA Sark pointed this out. How

(07:49):
big the guys are. Joe Evans is really kind of
the leader of this group since Tray Moore transferred to
Texas and something Andy Ever said about Joe Evans, he's
a guy with NFL draft capability and he's disting it
for all of that sort of stuff. He only has
one tackle so far this season. The guys who've been

(08:10):
real busy obviously have been the linebackers and the secondary guys.
And in the secondary, Denver Harris is the corner of
the long Orange really wanted him a few years ago.
He was a high level recruit and was going to
start at A and M and then wound up at
LSU and then transferred in from there. So he starts
one at one corner spot. Ken Robinson is the guy

(08:33):
who really is the ballhawk free safety. Fourteen tackles and
two of those for losses. So those are some key
guys there, all right, So there's a look at some
of the matchup of those two teams. We'll be back
to wrap up our number two of the program here
