Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to a Tuesday edition of the
Craig Way Show here on Sports Radio AM thirteen one
hundred the Zone.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
My name is Craig Way.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Glad to have you with us, as always, pleased to
be joined by the producer of this radio experience.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
It's Cameron D.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Parker that he on the birth certificate stands for Dallas
as in the favorite football team that he roots for,
even though he has pledged not to watch them, and
if Sunday's game gave him in the indication, you could
probably understand that. That said, they're tied for first place
in the NFC East. Yeah, thanks to comeback. Kirk Cousins

(00:37):
Perk Thuggins is some column Kirko Chains what a comeback.
I think Joe Buck summed it up best where he
talked about he had never seen anything like that in
the booth before. I think all of us were shocked.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
I mean I got up from the couch because I
thought this game is over with Philadelphia is going to
be two to o. Michael Pennix Junior will be the
starter in Week four, and all of a sudden, after
Mooney's big catch, the others forty seconds left this this
could be. It reminded me a lot of Oklahoma Texas
from last season. Sorry Texas fans, Sorry Craig, but I

(01:12):
mean the way they went right down the field after
Philadelphia looked like they had won. The game turned out
to be a really fun ending. A lot of questions
surrounding Philadelphia now. And if you're a Falcons fan, I
think you feel a lot better about Kirk Cousins than
you did wek aldgo been in the first half.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Yeah, all right, So as a Cowboys fan, do you
feel a little bit better about things now that you
saw what Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Had to offer? No, because Cowboys give up forty four
points in the last week.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Now you know it is, It's only Week two, and
this has happened a lot with Cowboys teams where you know,
happened last year with the Cardinals, right, so Week three
or Week four where they lost without a Cardinals team
that I don't think had Caler Murray.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
I can't remember. I don't think I blocked that game out.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
But and someone mentioned the Yeah, that was the Josh
Doobbs thing, right, was it Josh Jobs?

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Then he was traded, then he was traded after that.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Then someone mentioned the text line yesterday the Teddy two
gloves game against Denver in twenty twenty one, twenty twenty two.
So these games always happen, and then the Cowboys will
find a way to bounce back. You know, they could
win Week three against Baltimore and all of a sudden,
there's a completely different look on the Cowboys after the
first three weeks.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
But a lot to sort out, I.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Think defensively then offensively outside of Ceedee Lamb, not a
lot of big play guys, right, look at Texas in
this team, whether it's Jayden.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Blue or Isaiah Bond.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
You know, obviously quinnin Arch, but Sallas Bolden, Matthew Golden,
all those guys. A lot of explosive, big play playmakers
from the Cowboys. Outside of Ceedee Lamb, there's just there's
no one there, and that that's a concern.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
For the Cowboys I think this season.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Okay, this is a Texas Tuesday, and what we mean
by that is on Tuesdays, we hear from long warn
football play and also we take a look around at
college football in the state of Texas and high school
football in the state of Texas. So coming up in
a few minutes, what we have in store today is
a little something different, but I think we're going to
do on a more regular basis now that we have

(03:14):
the opportunity to do it, and that is to bring
you some conversations with some long worn football players, not
just the press conference stuff that's always there, and there's
nothing wrong with bringing you that stuff, and we'll continue
to do some of that, but at least today, what
we're going to do is our good friend and our

(03:35):
sideline reporter on our Longhorn Radio Network broadcast broadcast, one
of my broadcast partners, along with Roger Wallace.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
The other broadcast partner.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Is Will Matthews, the lifetime Longhorn, and he has the
entree and the opportunity to sit down and visit with
different Longhorn football players. So we didn't get a chance
to get to his conversation with Quinn Ewers late last week,
and we're going to air that even though this happened
before the conversation happened before the injury, before the oblique,

(04:06):
but there's still some good stuff there and so we're
going to bring that to you in this hour. Also
this hour we'll hear from Alfred Collins, So a couple
of the veterans. Later, we're going to hear from Anthony Hill,
We're going to hear from DeAndre Moore, We're going to
hear from Trey Weisner. So we've got we've got some

(04:26):
conversations to come your way, and we'll do that here
throughout the course of the program. Also in the three
o'clock hour, we will also visit with Greg Tepper, managing
editor of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine, and that will
be our weekly conversation where we talk about college football

(04:48):
in the state of Texas and high school football in
the state of Texas. So we'll do that with TEP
coming up in the three o'clock hours. So we have
a lot of stuff in store to get to well,
we'll look forward to bringing you of those things.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Now two weeks in the books.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
For the NFL, and so the question is how much
more do we know about the league now than than
beyond Week one. I mean, everybody, I think there was
a lot of shock and all as to what happened
to the Cowboys, but we're seeing, you know, now we
start to get into these how real are filling the
blank questions? Minnesota Vikings might be one of those how

(05:29):
real are they? Type of Pittsburgh Steelers, how real are they?
You know those those kinds of things as well. I
think with Kansas City and Buffalo, you kind of know
what you have there. All of Kansas City's gonna have
to deal with not having Isaiah Pacheco out for what

(05:51):
they say.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Well, they're put him on the I L.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
They're definitely going to put him on the I L
or the injured res are on i R in the
NFL's I L in baseball IR. So, yeah, for those
of us who have him on our fantasy teams, we've
got to reshuffle the deck too. But anyway, Uh, they
have other weapons and A. J.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Brown's gonna be out for more more than just Monday
Night Football last night. I'll be out for a few
weeks as well.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Yep, yep, and uh uh there's uh, there's there's a
lot of Hollywood Brown you talked about him. It's going
to be an extended stage, just like it will be
for Puka Takua on the injured list. Cooper Cup looks
like he'll be out for a bit. They've not announced him.
I didn't see his going to the IR uh, but
he could wind up on the injured list. Uh and

(06:39):
so there is Oh no, they said he could go
on could go. I don't think they made the definite
decision to put him on it yet, but he could
wind up on that. So yes, early season injuries also
taking their toll. So there is so there is that,
So a lot to get to on the program. We'll
talk some baseball to I did he mentioned last night?

(07:02):
I was, you know, in addition to the Monday night
football game, I was watching Dodgers Braves. Dodgers end up
splitting the four game weekend series with Atlanta. Yoshinobu Yamamoto
looked good. He wrote the roller coaster. He had runners
on base every inning, but didn't allow a run in
these four innings of work and uh and so anyway,

(07:23):
the Dodgers win the game, they split the four games
with Atlanta, and Atlanta now is one game back of the
Mets for the final wildcard spot in the National League
East or overall on the National League. So that's that
is significant as well. And there's this great chase going
on not only in the National League West, but for
best overall record. The Phillies have the best record by
one game over LA and then Milwaukee's just two games

(07:46):
more off of that pace, so they're in the think
of the fight. San Diego is still just three and
a half behind the Dodgers in the National League West.
They beat the Astros last night. I watched that the
Astros could not figure out you Darvish last night at
a real difficult time with him, and then the bullpen

(08:07):
they did that. So Arraghetti gave up just a couple
of runs and then the bullpen gave up another running.
It was enough for him to take the loss on that.
So San Diego remains red red hot. And because Seattle
finished off the Rangers yesterday that lead over Seattle again,
don't completely count the Americas that they're three and a

(08:29):
half back now the Astros in the American League West,
so and very much in the wildcard race when they
had been left for dead when when Scott Servis fired
as manager there in late July. Now all of a sudden,
they've perked up and they have come to life. By
the way they did mention on the Astros telecasts, and
they did it, I almost cam I almost detected a

(08:52):
little bit of glee in the voice of the broadcasters
that the Rangers will be eliminated this I'm sure. I'm
sure there's just a little thread of it. Because they
pulled up the American League West standings and the Rangers
were ten and a back, and they were like, and
then the Rangers will be eliminated this week. It was
almost like with a little glint of glee in there.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Their voices about well, reminder to them, defending World Series
champions still still are the defending.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
They get to defend it another month.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Yeah, and then yeah yeah, then on the golf course, right,
still the champions still, yes, they are, at least for
now anyway.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
All right, coming up, we're gonna hear some conversations that
Will Matthews had with a couple of long worn football players,
including QB one Yes even though he's injury still QB
one Quinn yours. We'll get to that coming up, And
as always, we opened up the text line for your
question in comments uh you can access us on the

(09:52):
text line by texting the word Texas followed by your
question or comment to eight one five three zero. So
you text the word Texas, then your question or comment
to eight one five three zero. Standard messaging and data
HbA apply. We'll also tell you how you can also
win some tickets to Brooks and dun You're gonna have

(10:13):
to use the.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Talk pack feature to do that.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
We'll do all that and more when we continue on
sports Radio AM thirteen under the zone of the iHeartRadio app.
