In a few minutes, we're gonna hear from Andrew mccoob,
but more from long Horn football players. In the four
o'clock hour, we will hear in the two o'clock hour,
we heard from Matthew Golden. In the four o'clock hour,
we're gonna hear from Quinn viewers and from Kelvin Banks
(01:06):
and also from Alfred Collins. But coming up here in
a few minutes. We're here from Matthew Golden, and uh,
excuse me, Andrew mccuba. We heard from Golden last hour.
Andrew mccouba. We'll hear from and Jake Major's the Long
Worn Center. There's coming up, but we want to hear
a little more from Long Wort's head coach Steve Circassian.
Now as he has turned his attention toward the Ohio
(01:26):
State Buckeyes, one of the areas certainly for him to
be concerned about is the play of their quarterback. And
everybody knows their quarterback very very well. Will Howard and
the challenge that he would bring for Texas And you
know what, what has he seen from Will Howard and
(01:48):
what makes a difference for the Long Worn defense?
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Yeah, I would say the first thing is he's a
He's a much better athlete than people probably give him
credit for. He snapped off a shoot about a seventy
yard touchdown run against us A few years ago. So
he has a good speed, he's got great poison composure
in the pocket. You can tell he's very bright. You know,
the system they ran at Kansas State put a lot
(02:13):
on the quarterback and knowing coach Kelly and coach Day
and what they do, so him managing you know, the
offenses that way. So he's got he's got intelligence, he's
got athletic ability, and then his ability to throw a
catchable ball. You know, I've seen that now for a
few years. You know, he throws passes where they need
to be thrown, and guys make plays for him, and
his poison composure in critical moments is something that has
(02:36):
been very impressive as well.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
All right. Now, on the defensive side, we've heard an
awful lot about that Ohio State pass rush. So he
was asked about to what stands out to him about
that Buckeyees pass rush.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
I just hope we're good enough to guard him, and
these guys are really good players.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
We'll find out.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah, short and sweet to that start. Talked about this
all the way back in June and July. In August,
we talked about the fact that Texas conceivably could play
sixteen maybe even seventeen games, which, by the way, if
they win this week, the National Championship game would be
game number seventeen for the Longhorns. They will have played
(03:17):
more college football games than any other program because neither
Penn State nor Notre Dame played in the conference. Is
that right?
Speaker 3 (03:24):
In the conference? Y? No, no, no, Penn State State play.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
They lost to Orgon That's right, Penn State did, so
they would be tied to If Penn State beats Notre Dame,
they would both be on their seventeenth game. If Notre
Dame defeats Penn State and Texas wins, then yes, Texas
will have played will be playing in their seventeenth game,
more than any program in college football history. So Sark
was asked if this thing started to feel as they
(03:48):
moved on forward and now into to their sixteenth ball game,
much more like an NFL schedule.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Well, it definitely feels like that, you know, and you
think about, like I said, we're going into game number
sixteen here, and so how you manage the players, how
you utilize your time, how you you try to keep
them as fresh as you can, not only physically but mentally,
(04:13):
but also put forth, you make sure you've got a
good plan that you can execute against. You know, the
further you go into the playoffs, the better quality opponent
you face, and so your quality of play has to
continue to improve. The coaching has to improve, everybody's got
to improve. We've always got to continue to strive to
get better, all on the same time trying to get
(04:34):
everybody fresh and back and putting them in the best
position to have success. And so it's it's a challenge,
but that's the beauty of it, right, That's that's like
to be in this stage and to be it with
this opportunity. You you embrace it and you try to
balance it as best you can so that when the
balls kicked off, you're putting everybody, your staff, your players
(04:55):
in the in the best position to have some success.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
And then one final bit of sound from Sark. Even
though each team was allotted thirteen thousand tickets and sold out,
it's a lot, but the game is in, after all,
the state of Texas. It's in Arlington. It's about two
hundred miles from Austin, a lot closer than it is
to Columbus, Ohio. There would be the opportunity for those
(05:18):
to access the secondary ticket market to pick up tickets.
So Sarka was asked, does this feel kind of like
a home game for his team? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (05:25):
I don't know. I mean, I think both schools get
the same number of tickets. I'm not certain Bianca might
be able to answer that for you, but I think
I think everybody gets the same number of tickets. And
then from that point, who's going to buy the rest?
Speaker 3 (05:39):
You know?
Speaker 2 (05:39):
And I know we've got a great fan base that travels.
I know Ohio State's got a great fan base that travels.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
So I don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
If it was at DKR, i'd probably say something that'd
be like a home game, But you know, it is
what it is.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yeah, And you're throwing the one other factor, the weather,
the possibility. And then you mentioned cam. When we were
first looking examining the ticket market, the secondary ticket market,
it was looking like crazy things like four thousand dollars
for fifty yard line seats even upper deck. We're over
three hundred, well in excess of three hundred dollars, four
hundred dollars the face value including fees, taxes, all, it's
(06:17):
about two hundred and forty bucks per ticket. But I
know the skyrocket, but then I'm hearing and I think
you mentioned it. It's kind of fallen back a little bit,
mainly because I think folks are worried about the weather.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Looking at seatkeet right now, Craig one hundred and fifty
dollars including fees to get it in. Wow, So it's
plumted from the cheapest resell ticket, which is your ear
in the fourth row, you know, or the fourth deck.
Excuse me, So you're steering right at the jumbo tron
but to get in looking at four hundred dollars now
it's one fifty and I'm assuming it's going to continue to.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Drop along with the temperatures, yes or outside, So there
you go, all right. Of course, our coverage will begin
at three thirty on Friday afternoon from Boomer Jacks with
Cam and with my cardball Harge and with Mark Henry.
It's really at I thirty and one fifty seven I
I thirty and Collins, near the entertainment area, not about
(07:10):
a mile from the stadium. It's pretty close, so it
would be a great place to start up.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Now. I know you've had some issue with the name
boomer Jacks because it says, you know Boomer in it
does that mean, like, will you still join us for
our our pregame segment on the show that's still gonna
happen even though we will.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
I will be on. I will be on with you regardless.
I might even venture out to Boomer Jacks at some
point during the week. My son's all about Boomers. I've
just kidded with him and said, you won't. You won't
see me stepping there because it's got the name Boomer Now,
I just I get it. I think the owner lives
in Dallas. It's not I don't think it's an okay,
I think he lives in Dallas. But anyway, all right,
(07:47):
So it starts at three thirty, Network pregame at five thirty.
The kickoff is going to be about six forty five
when I'm told, so, there you are, all right? Up
next the guy who saved the day for Texas on defense,
Quin Yours to Matthew Golden on offense. They're in the
end of the first overtime for the Longhorns, and then
(08:07):
in the second overtime to end the game. The play
that ended the game that would be made by Andrew
mccoopa of the former LBJ Jaguar and we'll hear from
him next on sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone.
