Speaker 2 (00:16):
All right, thanks again to Paul Keels, play by play
voice of the Ohio State Buckeye's joining us here on
the program. Let's go back here in from some long worts.
We'll hear some more from Sark next hour. But I
wanted to get to some players sound And this is
Jade baron the long Orange Jim Thorpe Award winner and
defensive Captain Jada visiting with the media on the media soon.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Going back to the COVID year, you and Macouba and
Taff obviously working out all the time together. He comes
in this year, you win the Thorpe, You have the
number one pass defense in the country. Is what sort
of like magic power did the three of you have together?
And what does what is the Andrew mccooba that we
don't see like, I mean, for one, you know.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
It all starts off well, God, you know, God just
placing us here all together at the same exact time, uh,
for a purpose that that means a lot greater than
us and any individual on a team.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
So I mean that's for starters.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
And then second, you know, we all we all work
hard and we push each other. And then the level
of bond and the level of trust that we have,
I mean, I wouldn't want to say, you know, we
have a better trust level with everybody else on the team,
but we we've obviously been known each other for over
a decade and things like that, so it's kind of
a little bit stronger and just a strong connection when
we're out there. And then Andrew mccoob, but you know,

(01:29):
he's always working to be better. It starts off with
his practice, happens the way, the way he goes throughout
the week.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
So when the game comes, he could just let it
loose today, good afternoon, afternoon.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Uh what do you recall from playing Will Howard when
he was playing with K State And what have you
guys learned last couple of games playing these mobile quarterbacks?

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Uh, that's a veteran quarterback there, you know, a lot
of all a lot of experience on him.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Hats off to him.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
And then you know then too, you know, not downgrade
his receivers that can stay, but he has a better
group of receivers here better, better people he can work
with to get the ball to. And then that's a
strong kid. You know, he's a fighter. He'll run the
ball if he has to and things like that. So
it's gonna be a great challenge for us.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
Hey Jada, you guys gave up some trump plays in
the second half, which is uncharacteristic. What's the concerned level
going in against Ohio State and offenses playing as well
as any in the CFP.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
I mean, again, you know it's not it's not some
matter of the opponent. Just being in there with us,
paying attention and being dowed very detailed to PK's plan
and what he has for us, and just executing it
at the highest level we can, which we know how
to do and which we're capable of doing. So, I
would say, just executing his plan to the best of

(02:48):
our ability.

Speaker 7 (02:50):
Hey j today, you've obviously shown a lot of love
for Michael and Andrew throughout to see them. I'm kind
of wondering about the other guys in your room, specifically
Manny Gavin. Just what have you seen from them this season?

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Just growth?

Speaker 4 (03:01):
You know, uh, you know, they'll keep making plays, but
just growthing and being willing to learn from coach Joseph
and and take the learning. But they're all coming along
and also they're creating theirselves value for special teams and
things like that. But just growth and just and always
being engaged on team and you know, always helping me
to be better for myself and pushing me.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Ajon what stands out to you and watching Jeremiah Smith
and how exciting is it for you to have that
opportunity to go head to head with him.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
That's gonna be amazing opportunity to go against him. You
know that kick and ball. He can ball. He's a
big baller, strong, strong ability. You know, he's a deep threat,
you know, and they love to get him the ball
and they love to create opportunities to get him the ball.
But it will be a great challenge for him and
then also for the other receivers they have. You know,
they have a great receiver group group of guys. So

(03:48):
it just be a great challenge for us and and
us DB's in the back end against to go against
those guys.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Hey, Joday, just kind of following up on that. You know,
you don't go against six three guys? Is that often?

Speaker 8 (04:01):
Yeah, I'm just curious do you do you have to
change how you approach that because this person is physically
bigger than the norm.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
I mean, uh, I mean I think you know everybody
once they go in the game, you gotta play your game,
you know, you can't can't change your game, uh, based
off somebody else to get out of your position on
how you play and things like that. So just being
a namor with my game and how I do things.
And and also I mean, you know, game is a
physical games. So he's a physical player and I'll have
to be also physical. I'm a physical player myself. So

(04:32):
just being physical and just going at it, you know.
And I think that's the that's the great thing about football,
having an opportunity to go against amazing players. So it
will just be a fun opportunity to just go against
those guys.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
What's up day?

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (04:46):
I just want to ask what I just wanted to
ask about.

Speaker 9 (04:49):
You take a lot of pride in watching film, and
I know you love to study film. Just curious to
seeing what you've seen from Ohio State. What what has
impressed you the most with this scheme that Chip, Kelly
and Ryan they have the developed out themsively, especially since
they kind of they.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Kind of adapted it throughout the season this year.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
I mean, uh, they all they have all around great
players everywhere. I mean, starting from a veteran quarterback, two
amazing backs, and then the receiver group just just a
veteran quarterback they have, and then uh, just they create
opportunities for those guys to get the ball in space.
They try to get those guys their touches to see
what they can do. But you know, they love their

(05:26):
explosive plays and things like that. So our job would
be our job to eliminate those explosive plays and just
to to play our game, you know, trust PK is playing,
and then ultimately it'd be a good game.

Speaker 8 (05:37):
Hey, John Day, how important will the pass rush be
in this game? Getting getting Howard you know, uncomfortable and
not where you can just sit there and rows and
and then what's the team's level of confidence in Burt
Auburn after his recent struggles.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Uh, we'll start off Bert Bert.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
You know, he's made a lot of and kicks for
us in the past. He's always gonna come up big
when we need him, so, you know, whatever, if he
could just block out the noise, he know, we're riding him.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
We got his back through it all.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
You know, That's that's what the culture is here, no
matter ups and downs, were always gonna pick somebody up.
And then for our D line, you know, it's always
good to create pressure, you know, mess up the timing
of the routes and things like that. So I know,
I know our D line and our guys they're going
to get after it and just amazing opportunity across the
board for eleven or eleven Jady.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
How you doing?

Speaker 8 (06:32):
Man?

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Uh So I keep saying you guys haven't played your
best football?

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yeah, it's still ahead of you.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Do you feel like y'all played y'all's a game as
a team and the playoffs so far?

Speaker 1 (06:44):
And is that dangerous if you're not?

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Uh No, sir, I don't think we've played our best,
you know, but you know that that's why that's that's
what practice is for, you know, to to get to
that point.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
But I think we can win in a lot of.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
Their ways from special teams often defense, So that's what
makes us an amazing team. But you know, once once
we have all three of those pieces together, we're a
various dangerous teams. So you know that's the goal to
get all those three together on board and we can
just keep it rolling.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Hey Joday, what has it been like working with PK
these last four seasons and what is it about him
that has helped his defense could consistently better year in
year out.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
You know, he's a genius.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
He's always putting people in position to make plays, and
he puts us in the best position to make plays.
And I think, honestly, you know, with the iPads having
the IPASS this year, you know he's taken full advantage
of it. He'll go down from each position groups from
the d line to the backers and it come over
to the DBS with coach Joseph with the iPad and
just just to kind of help him and fill everybody in.

(07:45):
But he's an amazing play caller. He's very patient and
he tries to get exact on the money with well
with the offense formation what they have going and what
look they have in the alignments and things like that.
But he's literally a genius and his plays are always
putting in some position to make place.

Speaker 5 (08:02):
Hey, YadA, after the game, Andrew was talking about how
this is your team. He talked about how he wanted
you to make a speech for the second overtime to
get everybody going. When you hear your teammates talk about
you in a leadership sense and say this is your team,
what kind of goes to your mind.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
I mean, I wanted to honor.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
You know, it's an honor to have have that role
and coming from my peers and teammates and things like
that alongside of me, that that putt in the same
amount of work I do. You know, we sweat, we
sweat the practice together. We we do a lot of
hard things together. But from coming from them, it means
a lot and it's an honor just to take that role.
But that was big of him just coming to me

(08:42):
seeing things that I in the right place, and you know,
I don't know where my mind was at, you know,
long long game, but for him to just come up
there and and talk to me and you know, give me,
give me the motivation to go talk to everybody else
that was that was needed at the time. But I mean,
it's just an amazing opportunity to to have a role like that. Jaday,
I appreciate your time. I guess I just have to

(09:02):
follow up on that one. What did you say? What
was the message I was just I was just telling guys.
I mean, it's gonna be on us. You know, offense
are gonna go score, and it's it's on us to
just close it out.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
We gotta go ahad on the business. But it starts
off with our energy level.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
I think everybody was just down throughout how the game
was going and things like that, and we just needed
a little bit of motivation and I think I think
that's what it gave it to it and we went
out there and we finished it.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Jday.

Speaker 7 (09:29):
How would you describe Coach Joseph as a coach? And
you know how vitle has he been to you since
you got here?

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Man?

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Coach Coach Joseph, He's one of the biggest pieces for me, honestly, Uh,
and everything, all the success that I'm having, I mean
it's I would say eighty percent is because of him,
you know, Uh, you know the other twenty obviously what
I'm doing outside to take care of my body and

(09:57):
things like that and then my own film. But he's
changed my life. He's changed my game just to make
me a smarter player. I'm a better person. Just how
I handle business throughout the film room and how I
watch film. You know, some people could just turn on
taping and you're just watching it. But he's helped me
to go through six seven different calls just with one

(10:17):
plays and seeing alignments and splits and and and it
just helps me play fast out there. You know, just
trust my game and once I study so much, trust
my instance. But I mean, he's changed my life completely.
He's made me the person I am today.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
All Right, there's some thoughts for John A.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Baron.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
We're gonna hear some more from Sark. We're gonna hear
some more long worn players and more on the NFL.
And I've got some news that might just be shocking
to Cameron Parker. When we continue on Sports Radio, you
have thirteen under the zone.
