Speaker 1 (00:00):
My business right now is to talk a little Texas
long Ard footballs to get ready for the scrimmage tomorrow.
Longwarts HITD coach Steve Sarkisa was asked at the media availability,
yes to be a question that when I sold the description,
and I think I laughed at loud, but then I
decided to listen to god. The description of it was,

(00:22):
is he comfortable airing it out with Quinn viewers? You know?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Again, you know, we have a system in place that
we love balance, we love versatility, we love multiple personnel groupings,
we love motion shifts, formations, all that kind of stuff.
But I'm also not I'm not so stubborn to think that, Okay,
whatever our team may be best at, that's where you

(00:48):
start to have to lean into. You know. A couple
of years ago we were a run first, run second,
and run thirteen and we were really good. There's been
different years and different teams. I've been a part of
where the passing game became the focal point of the
offense and the run game became the compliment to that.
And so, like I said, we're a week end of

(01:09):
this thing from a football installation, learning our team perspective
as we start getting through kind of two scrimmages, we'll
start to get a real identity for our team and
where our strengths are, and then we'll start to lean
in that direction, but still not neglect all aspects of
our team, because we're at our best when we have
really good balance.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Translation, Yeah, he's comfortable airing it out with when it
works within the system of what they're trying to accomplish
with the running game, the short passing game, and then
as he likes to say, taking their shots downfield. But
when they're in the running game now, it looks like,
obviously Jaydon Blue is gonna be the lead guy, not
the only guy. And we'll see what the scrimmage shows

(01:51):
tomorrow and the second scrimmage and further practices, is if
Jameane Blue will be the number one running back. But
Sark was asked where in what air has he seen
Jayden Blue grow the most during the offseason.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
The first area for Jade that I've been really proud
of him is his maturity. You know, from where he
was when he arrived here at the University of Texas
to where he is today. This guy's on our leadership committee.
He's really a respected player on our team, not only
from who he is off the field, but the way
he works on the field naturally. His skill set is

(02:26):
unique because we talk about versatility in our offense, and
he's a guy who's a really good threat running between
the tackles and can be a home run hitter when
he gets on the edge, it's a problem. He's got
a great route running ability and hands out of the backfield,
so he allows us to do a lot of different
things with him, and I think that creates a really
nice compliment, especially with Trey. Now you have two guys

(02:48):
on the field that are electric in the backfield and
running the ball, but also on the perimeter catching the ball.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Tray, of course being Trey Weisner another guy. So probably
those two would be the two that would draw the
preponderance of the carries. But again still early days. As
Sart just said on the prior piece of sound there
on the prior cut, he said, you know, we're only
a week into this thing, and they've just moved beyond

(03:17):
one weekend it and they do have their first scrimmage
coming up tomorrow. Speaking of that scrimmage, what kinds of
things will Sark and the coaching staff be monitoring. Again,
it's only the first scrimmage of a fall camp. Nevertheless,
what does he have in terms of a feeling for
what tomorrow's scrimmage will look like.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Well, it's a fun one for us because everybody plays Saturday.
You know, all these guys have been practicing their tails off.
We've been two spot and everything we've we've been four deep.
We're going ones, twos, threes and fours. So again, it's
going to be a great opportunity for guys to play.
What I want to see is what do they know? Again,
the coaches aren't on the field. Everybody's off. They have

(03:57):
to get the call, they have to communicate the call,
have to work together. How do they play when they
get a little bit fatigued. So again, it's not going
to be so much of the test of you know,
maybe the ones you know, because the installation is what
it is. But I want to learn about our twos
and our threes and even some fours of how they
respond and playing in dk R in a scrimmage type setting.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Okay, all right, So there you are with some thoughts
about what could happen in the scrimmage tomorrow From Longhorn's
head coach Steve Sarkis, and we'll hear sark talk more
about that, you know, on Monday as media availability about
what he saw from that. Speaking about what we're seeing,
I mentioned Bo Hostler, the lifetime log worn shooting a

(04:44):
ten and a round of sixty to take the lead
at the Windham Championship. Ben Taylor has just gone out
in the front nine like Hostler did in twenty eight
seven under par through nine now wound up just going
three under on the back nine to finish with the
thirty two on the backside and finish with a sixty.

(05:07):
But if Taylor just does that, he would match Hostler
with a sixty. And again if he shoots four hundred
in the back nine and Hostler had a chance to
barely missed a birdie put on seventeen, then scrambled to
save san save on eighteen to get his part of there.
But if he is able to get four more birdies
on the back nine or eagle to one par five,
which is an eagle available type of hole, and finished fourner,

(05:34):
he would shoot fifty nine. And that's a rare thing,
although it has happened in Greensborough before. We mentioned brand
Stenecker did it nine years ago in twenty fifteen, but
both Hostler is the leader and minus ten he's in
the clubhouse shooting sixty today. Today was the first round
of the term because of all the heavy rains from
Hurricane Debbie that pelted the state of North Carolina, but

(05:55):
Ben Taylor minus seven through nine making the turn there.
