(00:03):
He's a Texas legend, a Hallof Fame broadcaster, the voice of the
Texas Longhorns, and your host ofthe Craigway Show. Here he is now
Craig Way. Good afternoon, everybody, and mark, who's in the program

(00:29):
here on this Thursday afternoon. Myname is Craig White, planning to have
you with us. Also please bejoined by the producer Cameron D. Parker,
the deomiversary distincter Dallas and named,of course, in honor of his
favorite football team's quarterback. Was walkingaround in the boot just as a precaution,

(00:49):
and while it is his favorite footballteam, he's declared he will not
watch them. He is, he'sfrustrated. He's Cameron D. Parker.
How are you doing today? Doinggood, Craig? Better if I turn
my microphone on always helps. Yeah. But great night last I got some
pick a ball in. It's funplaying pick a ball against people for better
than you to really really just bruiseyour ego and remind you that maybe you

(01:12):
are as good of an athlete asyou might think you are. But a
great night. I got to watcha little the USA basketball. We'll talk
about that throughout the show. Butat least going by we're just four days
away from heading up to Dallas.Well, we're gonna be up there for
the next four days next week totalk SEC football. Man, I'm pumped.

(01:33):
I'm sad we won't have Mike Gundyaround, especially because he continues to
say really stupid things for a headcoach. But we'll be okay. We
got we got Sark, we gotthe Bower, we got Kirby Smart,
we got Lane Kiffin. I guesswe got Lane Kiffin. So it does
work. It'll be fun. It'llbe a fun week, am I to
guess that you're referring to Mike Gundy'scomments when asked if Ali Gordon was going

(01:57):
to be suspended because of his dwI and he said no, we're not
going to suspend him. And hebasically said we brought him here because he
has to face the music. That'spart of the deal. Although when reporters
asked Tolly Gordon about it, hesaid, I can't talk about it.
Yeah, legally he can't talk aboutit, correct, right, So well,
Gundy also said, like in reference, it's something that I've done a

(02:19):
million times, which is yeah,he said, done one thousand times.
Because you had two three four beers, which I've done a thousand times.
Wow, thanks for that revelation. That's great, especially with all the billboards
to drive around saying don't drink anddrive. And then you got Mike and
he said, ah, I's doneit a thousand times. It's fine,
We're fine. All he's fine.Yeah. Yeah, So that was But

(02:43):
of course Big twelve me the dayswhat they only did two days of it,
right, yeah? Short and Sweetin Las Vegas, Yeah, at
a at a Lion Stadium, whichwould have been fun to go up there
too bad now, of course itwould have been easier for us the travelers
to Dallas. But Short and Sweetthe Pac two had an open bar for
their media of days, and thenthe Mountain West had theirs. It looked
like it was in like the backof someone's two bedroom apartment with the lighting.

(03:07):
And then the SEC has there's Imean, where's Big ten aut Is
that that's later on this month orhave they already had it? It is
no, no, no, theyhave not had it yet. Just an
Indianapolis problem, tak or Chicago.I'm not one hundred certain about that.
And July twenty third, of thetwenty fifth at Lucas Oil Stadium. Okay,

(03:28):
so it's there. It's in Indianapolisand ACC I think is all of
next week Georgia. Is it Atlantaor is it Charlotte? Oh? Probably
Atlanta. Yeah, let's see.No, it's in Charlotte. Is that
the Hilton Charlotte Uptown? Yeah? There you go. Is that where we
stayed for the No, No,it's not for the NCAA tournament. No,

(03:49):
it's right, But that's the onethat's right across the street. Is
that, Yes, it's uptown.Yeah, it's uptown right there. Apparently
SMU is in the ACC. That'swhere they are. Greg Temper, the
managing editor Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine, was on with us yesterday and he
said part of what they had todo in reworking the magazine was to include

(04:11):
an ACC preview, which they've neverhad to do because SMU is in the
SEC. So they had to adda couple of pages. There's some extra
homework for the writers. Yeah, yeah, and they had to kind of
tighten up some other areas so theycould keep it right at the requisite four
hundred pages to do that. Soyeah, So well, we'll talk some

(04:34):
more football today. Some interesting thingson quarterback ratings. We'll get to those
college football quarterback ratings. Point out, did you do you watch any Wimbledon
this morning? Didn't watch anything thismorning. Actually, my aunt who's in
the hospital. She says, okay, she had surgery this morning. But
she's one of the hardest working humanbeings I've ever met. At sixty two

(04:58):
years old, she's working out onehundred degree weather, hauling timber, doing
all kinds of weird things. Hadan accident unfortunately, so she was in
the hospital last night this morning,so spent my Thursday morning visiting her.
But she's doing okay. So Idid not watch any Wimbledon. But at
sixty two years old, if youhave the work ethic to work outside in

(05:20):
ninety six ninety eight degree weathers man, that's something that I aspire to be
like her, No kidding. Therewas a great match this morning and I
was watching yet and it's funny intalking about it was talking about a comeback

(05:40):
when and I guess it might bethat for Jasmin Paulini, but it was
so back and forth it'd be hardto between her and down a Veckage.
Veckage was the one who took outLulu Sun and it was the longest women's
semifinal on record and the first timein eleven years since twenty thirteen that the

(06:09):
final set went to a tiebreaker, and of course, in the tie break
at Wimbledon, it's if it happensin the final set, it's not just
seven six, first to seven points, it's first to ten points. But
you're gonna win by two. AndPaulini won ten eight. She was she

(06:31):
was on the ropes and then Veckagefought off I think three match points.
It was back and forth. Itwas a great match. But Jasmine Paulini,
who was a finalist at the FrenchShop but is now a finalist in
the at Wimbledon, and she'll playBarbara kreid Jakova in the in the championship,

(06:56):
So that's the women's final on thatSo anyway, that there was then,
and we'll get in this a littlebit more. There was Team USA.
I'm playing now you uh you saidyou you did some you did some
pickleball. You get back in timeto watch it again, Yeah, okay,
that late it did it did so. Uh, by the way,

(07:23):
how old were these people who werejust basically just drilling you and pickaball were
they in their early seventies. Itwas a good mixture, probably late teens
to probably like fifties. Okay, okay, all right, Yeah, Well,
like you say, it's it's ait's a way to learn the game
a little bit exactly. Yeah.Yeah. So anyway, Uh, we're

(07:46):
going to talk about Team USA aswell. We'll get the camps thoughts on
that. We're going to do that. Uh, we have inconceivable this afternoon,
and so we'll get to that.Uh, we've got some other football
notes to get to the NFL andcollegiate varieties that pointed out, some basketball
notes and some baseball notes as well, so the lot to get too.

(08:07):
I'm glad to have you with ushere this afternoon. It's a Thursday afternoon.
