Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon, everybody.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Welcome to the program here on Sports Radio AM thirteen
under the Zone. My name is Craig Way. Glad to
have you with us. We're with you each and every
weekday afternoon here two to five. Glad to have you alongside,
and grateful and four and glad of the contributions that
Cole Dixon made as the stand in producers. I mentioned
the six man off the bench to the heck of

(00:21):
a fine job. Just got a chance to meet his
mom calls here, his mom flying in from northern California,
but now fresh from northern Florida, returning once again. The
producer of this program on the regular basis is Cameron D.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Parker.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
The D on the birth certificate stands for Dallas, which
of course stands for the Dallas Cowboys, the football team
that his dad first and then Cam second rooted for. Ardently,
Cam says he will continue to root for them, but
will not watch him this year. We'll see how all
that works. But he's back from Florida. Welcome back. How

(00:58):
was the I struggled with the word vacation because I
know it's time away, which technically gets classified as vacation,
but I know it was anything but pure vacation, for
it was working vacation. You were working and helping your
mom to relocate, so you were being the good son.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
But glad to have you back anyway.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yeah, thanks Craig. Glad to be back, Glad to be
back in the routine, back in the studio. And it
was a fun a little week in Florida, as you mentioned,
helping my mom get settled moving away to a different
department area in northern Florida. But what made it really
fun was Hurricane Debbie provided a nice wrinkle for us

(01:40):
on the weekend. So don't recommend being in Florida during
a hurricane. I'm glad passed through quickly enough to where
I wasn't delayed because there was a little concern that
I was going to get back in time.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
But here I am, and we are.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Getting closer and closer to the Texas football kicking off too,
so excited for that. But glad to be back in Yeah,
a good week in Jack Speach.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Let me also tell you that.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
You caught a glancing blow from Hurricane Debbie. I have
a brother and a sister who are dealing with it. First,
two brothers and a sister one not quite so much
affected by it. Then I've got a brother who lives
in the Myrtle Beach area and they're getting pounded by
the rain. And then have a sister who just relocated.

(02:26):
Get this, here's your relocation story from Kona from the
Conah Coast to Hawaii, where she'd lived for over twenty years,
to Bluffton, South Carolina, which is right near Hilton Head.
And she and her husband are married and retired. He's
quite the golfer, he really is. And it's a big
golf course commune, and they just moved in with all
that hit and they are getting swamped over there.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
They're okay and everything. They're catching a lot of rain
over there.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
So anyway, glad I have cam back a lot to
get to on the program.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Right out of the gate, he did.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Mention long worn football and there's some dismal news to report.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
We get to momentarily on that.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Speaking of dismal news, Jim Harball got some more of
that today. We've been talking about this Michigan ncaa thing
of the past couple of days. But there's a latest
wrinkle on that. The Olympics continue. The United States disappointed
today They had a two sets to one lead and

(03:25):
the men's volleyball Summer Final against Poland, they were three
points away from winning it in four sets, couldn't finish
it off, pulling when that got it to a fifth
set the tiebreaker, and Polland got up four match points
and the US shaved off three of them but could
not shave off the fourth.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
They lost the final in fifteen thirteen.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
So when five sets, four of the five sets were
decided by two points. So the US will not get
a chance to win a gold medal. They will get
a chance to play for a bronze on Friday. And
it looks like, and I'm going to stress the word,
looks like it like it'll be Italy they will face.

(04:03):
Italy is down to zip two sets to none to France.
But Italy was down two sets and it looked like
they were gonna get knocked out yesterday and came back
and won it in a fifth set. They fought off
all kinds of match points and stuff like that and

(04:23):
came back in one. So we'll see. But it could
be Italy that they face for the bronze. But there's
other Olympic stuff we'll get to on that. We have inconceivable,
So we'll we'll have that coming up a little bit
later on this We're gonna hear from long worn football
players as well. We've got some baseball notes to get to,

(04:44):
so there's a lot to get.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
To here on the program this afternoon.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Oh and I think women's golf is tomorrow and the
US hopes resting with Nelly Corda doing that. You've you've
seen her by now in the tea Mumble commercials where
she's got the mirror image of herself and.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
She's everywhere now she is, that's what winning how many
she went five in a row?

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Yeah, earlier this season she she'd won five in a row.
So that'll be going on. Obviously, there's a men's track
and field, uh to keep track of, and we'll do that.
So it's still full speed ahead on the Olympics and
full steam ahead.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
It's all still going forward.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Uh. When you traveled to Florida, did you have any
airline issues?

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Delayed a little bit in Orlando taking off, but got
back you know, pretty close to when we were supposed
to originally arrive in Austin, Austin Berstram but nothing crazy
that the guy next to me could not fly out
for two days. Yeah, living in Liberty Hill, went on
a fourteen day cruise, came back no cell phone, arrives

(05:58):
and says, yeah, your flight is canceled and you're not
getting to fly out for the other two days because
of Hurricane Debbie. So besides that, no no issues getting
to Orlando and leaving Orlando.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Which I'm thankful for. And then what you pick up
a rental and you drove to Jacksonville's back. No, my
mom given picked me up back. Oh okay, what is
it a couple of hours? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Two hours? Okay, two hours? There is two BUCkies on
the way.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Yeah, okay, so it made you feel right at home?

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Yeh did Daytona Beach and another one just outside Knocket.
You can't confirm they do hold up their bargain of
BUCkies in Texas. So the name is not being smeared.
It's not like bow Jangles in Florida. That's absolutely discussing.
The BUCkies in Florida is just as nice as the
BUCkies in Texas. Is the bow Jangles in Florida not good?

Speaker 1 (06:46):
No, it's awful.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
You do not go there. Only go to bow Jangles
if you're in a true southern state. So you haven't
tried the one in De Soto yet.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
I am that.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
The different menu, okay, and Carls Junior, Yeah, I have
a little bit interesting.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
It's interesting. The biscuits are as good.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
The sweet tea is not let the sweet tea in
North Carolina, which is you're going to get used that
you're in Texas.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Yeah, but a different menu though different menu. You know
who else is like that? And I think I've mentioned
this to you before. Dairy queen, the Texas dqs, those
may Field own property dairy queens are different. Those are
the ones that have the Hunger Buster and some of
those other ones you don't have that. The DQ's a
little bit different on on the East Coast as well.

(07:30):
So interesting how that works out. All right, coming up,
we're gonna hear for long worn football players. We're going
to give you that unfortunate news regarding the Texas running
back positions. Some details on that we'll do that will
keep you updated on the Olympics. If you would like
to text the program, feel free to do that. All
you have to do is text the word Texas follow

(07:52):
by your question or comment to eight one five three zero.
So you text the word Texas and then your question
or comment to eight one five three zero.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Standard messaging and data rates may apply.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
We've had great response with our talkback feature when we
were giving away the copies of Day Campbell's Texas Football magazine.
We're done giving away the copies of the magazine, but
if you'd still like to reach us on the talkback
and leave us a message, you're certainly welcome to do that.
All you have to do is make sure you have
the iHeartRadio app, which is absolutely free. Have it downloaded
on your phone or go ahead and download it. And

(08:26):
then you pull up AM thirteen under the zone and
there's two buttons. There's a white one that where you
can listen to what's going on on air, and there's
a little red one with a white microphone inside. You
just push that and you leave us a message on
the talkback. That's it fifteen to twenty twenty five seconds.
So we appreciate that as well, and we should tell
you we're going to be giving away tickets to long
ONRN football games. This is the only radio station in

(08:47):
time where you can get those long WRN football tickets
given to you as the flagship station we'll be giving
away tickets over in the course of the year, and
when we do it, and we'll have some sort of contest,
but when we do it, you'll have to participate in it.
We talk back, so it's a good way to get
warmed up for that.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
All right.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
We'll get to a lot of things coming up next
when we continue here on sports Radio AM thirteen under
the Zone and the iHeartRadio app.
