(00:33):
somebody in the text line asked the question. He said,
did I hear this was actually on Friday, but it happened.
I didn't see it in time. Did I hear a
member of the media say the word guardian? They've only
been in first place literally every day. Oh, that was
with the deal with our friend the Cleveland Guardians pan

(00:54):
when we had Gene Watson on. They have been in
first place all the way through, and the Guardians are
trying to They're in a battle with the Yankees to
see if they can have the best record in the
American League. In the National League, the Dodgers have a
one game edge on the Phillies after these surging Mets
took three of four from Philadelphia over the weekend, and

(01:19):
it's into the final week of the season. The Dodgers
and Podres have a huge series starting marn I to
Dodgers Stadium. LA's magic number for wrapping up the division
is for Sant Diego's too much in the fight. And
right now they're the top wildcard team, and then the
Mets and the Diamondbacks are right there in the thick
of the fight for the wildcat. You know, you may
get left by the roadside. The Braves Atlanta might get

(01:41):
left out. They're two games back right now going into
this final week, so they have to really kick it
in the high gear to go in the Nation League
and the American League. Yes, the Texas Rangers were finally
eliminated over the weekend, So you can hold on to
that World champions thing for one more month until the
World's two reason. Then there'll be a new one crown

(02:01):
then and then Bruce Bochie will try to do what
he's done in the past. You know, have the down
year after winning a World Series, tit, don't come right
back and try to win another one.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Yeah, right, so that'll be that'll be the case there.
That streak continues. It's a crazy streak in missing the
playoffs the year after winning a World Series.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Yeah, yeah, it's just strange how that went of that.
It has to do with obviously losing guys to free agency.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
And things, and bad injuries.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Bad injuries, no question, I showed Linda tweet yesterday showing
how much money Max Schurzer is getting paid this year.
He's getting paid. I think it's fifteen million still from
the Nationals and thirty eight million from the Mets or

(02:46):
the other way around, and then another fifteen million from
the Rangers. He's making sixty seven million dollars something like
that this year and he's made all of nine appearances
for the Rangers this year. Round Rock Express ended yesterday.
They went thirty and thirty four in the second half there,
so their season is done, all right. Do you ever read,

(03:08):
amongst your perusal of the social media world reddits college
football twitter site?

Speaker 2 (03:17):
I follow them on Twitter. Okay, they have a lot
of different account owners, and a few of them are
very anti Texas, but they've been very quiet this season.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Well, they're Reddit CFB right now. They list this. I'm
gonna see how many of these you can guess, so
don't look it up here. Okay, they say twenty teams.
Twenty twenty teams are currently ranked high enough by at
least one AP voter that they would merit inclusion in

(03:48):
the twelve team playoff if that voter's ballot were used
to select the field. So, in other words, just you
know what Kerk bowls, or who has an AP ballot,
or just somebody somewhere else has an AP ballot and
if it was their ballot that was selected the field.
There are twenty teams that that could be in the playoffs.

(04:10):
So I want to I want to see how many
of them he's he's changed his votes. No, I'm just
saying of his entire ballot, there's enough that out of
out of that twenty teams are currently ranked high enough
by at least one AP voter that they would merit
inclusion in the twelve team playoff if that voter's ballot
were used to select the field. So how many of

(04:32):
these twenty teams can you name?

Speaker 2 (04:34):
I'm guess in Texas Okay, Georgia Okay, Alabama Okay, Ohio State,
all right, Tennessee, good Ole, miss Yep Okay, Utah yep.
We got seven there? M hm mm okay, any of
the ACC team right? Well, this will be to Miami
okay eight? I think if wells Michigan yep, okay, Matt nine.

(05:02):
I need a group of five team right?

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Uh? Well, remember there's twenty teams here, so twenty teams.
There's twenty teams. I'm just won't to see how many
of the twenty you could name.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Okay, well, then Oklahoma, uh no, okay, Missouri, Yes, there's ten.
I think that's all you go. Now you got half.
That's all the SEC teams, right? Uh?

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yes, yes, all right.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Let me see go let me go to the Big ten.
Penn State, yep, Okay, I think that's all the Big
ten teams. Don't tell me? No, no, oh, Oregon, I
forget Organs now, still not done with and then probably USC.
Uh no, I guess they did lose Michigan. Okay, it's
still not done with the Big ten. There's one mile
state Michigan. There's one more hen State, Oregon, not USC.

(05:57):
I don't even remember who else is in that. We'll
come back to it. Okay, Clemson, Yes, okay, what am
I at?

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Now?

Speaker 2 (06:04):
You're at thirteen thirteen? Probably a few more Big ten
teams or Big twelve teams.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
There's more Big twelve, and there's more acc And there's
three Group.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Of five Memphis Nope, really from the group of five Liberty.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Liberty's one. Remember Memphis got beat over the weekend?

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Oh? Okay, yeah, I guess they did.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
I'll think I'll just stop there because okay, yeah, Boise, okay,
all right, so that'd be fifteen. How about you, said
Liberty James Madison, Okay, we just scored one more touchdown
against That's right. There's another one UNLV.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Okay, shout out coach Marion.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Yeah. From the ACC Louisville, Yeah. From the Big ten Illinois, oh, okay,
and from the Big twelve Iowa state. That's twenty. These
these twenty teams are currently ranked high enough by at
least one AP voter in the whole deal that they

(07:05):
would merit inclusion if that voter's ballot were used to
select the field. So all of those right now as
it stands, and of course there's great discussion. I didn't
see this coming. I should have because I kind of
nerd out and look at these things, but I didn't
see this coming, and now I'm glad it's here that

(07:27):
there is great discussion on who the G five team
is going to be great discussion. My son raised the
question what if a G five team isn't ranked in
the top twenty five, and somebody raised the exact same question.
I think it might have been Matt Berry raised the
question on college football final and Joey Galloway immediately said

(07:51):
there will be, and so did Dan Mullin said there
will be. There'll be one, and there probably will be
at least one top twenty five anyway. So but there's
great discussion and looking at the teams that had the
best shot to get in as a G five, be
it Boise State or UNLV Memphis was mentioned when they

(08:13):
dropped back down. Liberty is obviously in the discussion. James
Madison popping into the discussion depends on how those teams
do obviously throughout the course of the rest of the
regular season and their respective conference championship games. All right,
we'll be back to wrap up hour number two of
the program here on sports Radio AM thirteen under the
zone of the iHeart Radio app.
