(00:00):
But not swag from you hit thehigh notes like you would tend yeah by
just to take you won it wonit? Won it you? J Park
(00:35):
is back from Let's Go. Ilike the mix. You like that intro?
I you're blown away? Yes,the first track, like not a
lot of people know about that track. It's a track with the d J
fuse. You put that that's crazy. I didn't. I didn't even know.
How did you find it is that? That's the track with the fuse
has songs you haven't even recorded yet. You got the acapellas and everything.
(00:58):
That's crazy. We got the stemsand a video for a while. Appreciate
it. Why is on its wayright? Why candy is available? Yes?
Jay Park back on a CRUI showwhich was talking about this off there.
The last time he was here wastwenty eighteen. We're with us right,
Yes, we're here now, solcomeback, man, thank you.
(01:19):
I appreciate you having me again. And then the last time I was here
was when I was doing like theRock Nation press run, Yes, sir
for for Sojo the single Sodio Iremember, yeah, and then so I
haven't done a US press run inlike five years. Wow, So thank
you for having We're happy to haveyou, bro. Man, it's been
a long time. I grew upon us. This is why crazy.
Yeah, yeah, I know that. It was tripping out about your hair,
(01:41):
like yeah, I mean last timeyou saw me, all are different
too, hours and forty three poundsyou got long hair now, it's crazy.
Five years is a long time.Half a decade, things are five.
Five years is a long time.Man, You've done five years in
jail. That's a long time.A long time. This weather doesn't bother
you, right, well, Imean I like the it is it is.
I do like la for like thenice weather. So it's kind of
(02:05):
weird that it's like very sorry,no no, no, it's cool though,
it's cool. I'm used to it. There's something I can do about
that. Yeah, facts, Sowhat has changed in five years for you,
like on a personal level, Yeaha lot. So last time I
was here it was twenty eighteen.I was obviously I was part of AMG
Higher Music, the labels that Ifounded, and then you know, right
(02:29):
now it's still family, but I'mnot involved like business wise with them anymore.
It's just like a family like thething. And then so I started
a couple of new ventures, moreVision, and so the purpose of more
Vision is I feel like in hiphop and Asia, we kind of I
plateaued a little bit, you know, so I kind of had to challenge
(02:51):
myself and use just kind of myknowledge and what I have to offer in
a different way. So I decidedto start to produce a K pop group,
like a boy boy band almost yeah, boy band. So one of
the works of that, we havea training program, we're developed, developing
a group of people, and hopefullylike within the next couple of years,
(03:13):
we can launch the boy band, the boy group. And then I started
my own So last time I washere it was for the single called Sojiu.
And now that I have my ownsoldiers, so we're here five years.
Yes, sir, that was alot of taste testing too, it
was, it was. And sothe press run in twenty eighteen, that's
what inspired me because everyone I gavethem like I gave everyone sold you,
(03:35):
Like what sold you? So it'swhat we're drinking career and they're like,
is this your brand? I waslike, no, it's not my brand.
Like you should start a soldio.I was like, I should start
a soldio, dad, And thatthat's what inspired me to start to sold
you. And so it took likefour years of developing. Wow, yes
man, and so now here weI'm the first person in creator launched their
own soldier. You're obviously very handson, right, Yeah, it goes
(03:57):
into creating that well. Sold Wemet with a lot of business partner or
like potential business partners, and thenyou know, there was stuff that like
contractually didn't work out, like weweren't heading the same direction or and so
like we're in the development process andthen back to square one developed and so
finally we found some partners that youknow, that felt right. It felt
(04:21):
right, everything felt right business wisecontractually, and then we started to find
different distilleries and then started tasting,Like you said, a lot of taste
testing, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah. Oh and then
you start tasting it and you're likeI don't care, yeah yeahs facts and
(04:44):
then yeah, so this is alittle bit different than what people are used
to drinking, like the green bottles. This is premium sold You distilled one
hundred percent rice yeast, alcohol andwater, no artificial flavors, no chemicals,
nothing, It's just from rice froman area called one jew in Korea.
Yeah, so it's very premium, tastes a lot different and it feels
(05:05):
a lot different when you're like, the buzz you get is a little bit
different and you feel different the nextday as well. So it sounds delicious.
You should try it, Yeah,as soon as possible. How many
different bottle designs did you have beforeyou landed on the one you fell out?
So even the label, it's likethere's just slight things that we kept
(05:26):
on changing. I think we hadlike ten fifteen. And then even the
texture of the label, there's like, you know, there's so many different
things that go into it, andso I wanted something where it's like when
you feel it, it's not justlike you, you know, a sticker
exactly exactly. So that's why wehad cloth. So it's like made of
(05:46):
cloth and yeah, yeah, yeahthat's right. Yeah, you know,
being able to feel the texture ofsomething is extremely Important's a lot of people,
you know, because you want toknow where you're money is going,
facts you feel. Me. Yeah, I don't mind spending money, but
I got to feel like I gotmy money's worth what I'm saying. I'm
saying, Yeah, man, YoJay Park is here, so let's talk
(06:10):
about why and and uh and thelyrics of the song and what it means
to you. You want to yes, sir, yes, sir? Why
So I was, you know, recently announced the the Gucci Global Ambassador I
appreciate you, and so, youknow, we wanted to do something special
for that announcement, and so they'relike, yo, this release the track,
(06:33):
and I was like, okay, cool, and so we landed on
Why, and you know, it'swe we have a few different genres and
Why where it's like it's house andthen it's like Jersey club, and then
it's afrobats and and so. Andthen the lyrics, it starts out like
kind of sad, like I'm likeon some like emotional like feeling some type
(06:54):
of way to you know, likeyou're looking out like a rainy window like
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like I'm yeah, yeah, yeah,
why you hurt me? Like I'mso lonely like that type of you
know that sects and then and thenit turns into the kind of afroword like
afrobeats where it's like yo, I'mlike, oh no, we're asking why
I'm filming the fly, like let'sgo get it, like you know,
(07:15):
even though you know you you youlost the world, it doesn't mean that
you can't gain it again or sure. Yeah, it's almost like the way
human emotion works, right, Yes, if you're down, you pick yourself
up, Yes, exactly, andyou know you put pep in your step
and now your days more exactly exactly. You're bouncing back from it. Yeah,
yeah, bounce back exactly. Soand then it was just fun to
(07:35):
like kind of play play around withdifferent genres and then get the choreography.
And it wasn't the choreography that Iwas used to, because it's different genres
that I'm used to, So itwas it was it was challenging for myself.
And you know, I've been inthe game for like fifteen sixteen years
now, and so it was funto like challenge myself and to not get
it right away, like because youknow, I've been dancing for twenty years
(07:56):
now, and so usually when Ilearned choreography, it's like it's fun,
but it's not challenging, and sothis time around is a little bit challenging.
It's like, oh, I'm notused to this movement, and so
at first I was like, hey, maybe I'm old now. Like maybe
I can't get it, Like no, I was like maybe you know,
I'm done. And then you know, obviously it's like you have to earn
it. You have to earn thoseskills to be able to move like that.
(08:18):
And so I put into work andyeah it feels good man, Yeah,
yes, by said, let's getit. I can drink that whole
thing. Yeah, I can drinkit all day, plan on it too.
Why is it so good man? It's good? Why it would be
(08:39):
that smooth? Like at the end, it's very It's just it's easy,
yes, And so I mean thisis a little bit stronger than the soldier
people are used to. Like thesoldier people are used to it's like seventeen
percent. This is twenty two percent. And then also it's fermented arrested in
a traditional Korean clay pot called it'scalled the yes yes, And that's why
(09:00):
it's a little bit more smooth. This is my typepisode, you guys,
Yeah it is yo. You seeyou can taste the rice. Yeah,
it's like so smooth. I'm reallylike, wow, I can imagine just
having like Korean barbecue and then justyes, yes, it goes very Goulart
Crean barbecue. I'm literally always onlike green barb. I literally bought a
Korean barbecue for my house. Didyou get indoor Korean barbie? Oh wow,
(09:22):
that's how you get the right one. It was getting expensive to go
out. So is there a rightone? I don't even know if there's
a right one. I think Ijust bought an indoor grill just like okay,
and I said it was good forKorean barcue, okay for us?
Bro? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, you must open the window right
the house gets yes, yes,a super dog video, Yes, yes,
hey Bro, just leave that bottlehere, will take care of it.
(09:46):
It's in good hand for sure, you guys. If you hear slurring
on air later on, that'll happen, yo, Bro, So j Park
was so much work, right,You're you're you're constantly grinding. It's over.
Get a lifestyle at this point? What what's relaxation look for you?
What do you do to relax?I mean to be honest. So,
(10:07):
also, what has changed since lasttime is I drink a lot. And
it's not just because the soldier. It's just it's kind of like, you
know, a lot of pressure Itake. I'm accountable for a lot of
people because I run two companies andfor you know, my family, whoever
it may be, and so anddoing this for this long with you.
I don't take long, long vacationslike I'm not like chilling out for six
(10:30):
months or like, oh, I'mworking on the album for I'm like doing
shows, doing TV and working onmusic and then in between, I'm you
know, getting workouts and whatever itmay be. So at the end of
the day, I like to drinkwine. I like to drink soldier.
I like to drink beer like Iyou know, before it's like, oh,
let's take shots. Like all thehomies they're like, oh, take
the quila shots, they take jamison. I'm like, no, I can't
(10:52):
do that. My body can't takeit. Like yeah, now, I
just like to sip and relax.Sip and relax exactly exactly. Contemplate about
like do you ever scroll on TikTokfor eight hours? I don't do TikTok,
so you know, I'll do likeshorts or some reels. I'm not
on TikTok too much, but Iknow that it is very important this day
and age to be on TikTok,and so I'm trying to find out how
(11:16):
I need to utilize TikTok as anartist, because you know, I'm from
a different era, so I'm alittle bit older as well. So it's
like I don't I'm not very goodwith I don't know how to edit.
I don't know like how to usethat voice like this time, I know
that I know that female voice withme. You know that there's that like
animated female voice everybody uses, likej Park came out with the news.
(11:37):
I don't know how to do that, so different voices. Exactly. I'll
teach you. Don't teach you allday, bro, So I'm trying to
figure out how to navigate. Youknow. We're also here to announce the
Jack your Mirrors is your new socialmedia manager. I need one. The
amount of like tiktoks I try tohave these guys do is ridiculous where in
(11:58):
the world. Yes, exactly,But that's what you need. You need
someone to like continue to push you, like, oh you should do something
like this, or like yeah youneed this is a good idea. Hey
yeah yeah, yeah yeah. Fact, especially with someone with your kind of
workload, you need someone to behyper focused on different errors so you can't
see everything can be on everything, not that you don't want to, but
yeah, no, no, andI have I have a great team and
(12:18):
a you know, a great justwhat is it label, and just a
good workforce like and then we're we'rewe're very efficient. But it's like for
me, I don't I don't liketo have people, uh manage my social
media because I just like to bea little bit more me on social media.
Yeah yeah, yeah, so I'mtrying to I'm trying to figure that
(12:39):
out. Like can you find thatyou have to take like social media breaks
once in a while, dred percent. I mean and for me, like
if if I wasn't like an artistor whatever, I probably wouldn't even have
a social media to be honest,I believe it. Yeah, you know,
because I'm not like the I liketo stay kind of like low key
like but in this job, likewith this work, you have to be
(13:03):
on social media. It's like youhave to be unless you're like Frank Ocean
or something. Yeah yeatory yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you have
to be on social media. That'svery true. The thing you don't want
to do is like, you know, have yourself a few, you know,
too many drinks and then go onsocial media. Oh no, facts,
I'm scary. I don't do socialmedia when I drink. Yeah yeah,
(13:24):
yeah, not even like close friendslist or anything. No, I
don't do it. You know, you never know you have, like a
close friend, I don't. Idon't do that. If I'm drinking,
I'm probably drinking with my close friends. Another one. They don't need to
(13:46):
know what I'm doing. I'm good. No, yeah, I'm with my
close friends. I like that.Yeah, I don't do close friends either.
I'm saying, see, like JayPark waiting, what's ley taking a
break from social media? Working out? Like? How often you got to
reset a schedule or a routine?So I don't. I don't have a
(14:07):
specific routine. So what I do? Like, so I like to balance
even though I drink, I do, Uh, what is it? Take
my health very very seriously, justbecause health is wealth. You know,
without without health, you can't enjoyeverything you work for or whatever. You
can't work. You know, otherpeople worry about it. So I try
to take my health very seriously. And the first thing I do when I
(14:31):
wake up is I I drink aveggie sea moss fruit smoothie. Yeah,
and then I have like this saunathat we bought from Costco. It's not
I don't think it's portable. Youcan't just pick it up. But it's
like yeah, yeah, yeah, that's kind of crazy. No, it's
(14:54):
just a one person Okay, Iknow what you're talking about. That that
that's like the is it a tent? Yeah okay, no, no,
this is like you turn it onand then yes, yes, yes,
yes, yes, yeah yeah,so we just one person sound it from
Costco. And so initially I boughtit for my parents because I heard that
it's I don't know if it's true, but I saw on social media it's
(15:16):
supposed to be very good for yourheart. Everything's true on social media.
Yeah it really is. Yeah.Yeah, it's supposed to like, you
know, allow you to live longer. It's good for your heart. So
I think that like cardio, itshrinks down the risk of you dying from
a cardiovascular disease or like a heartattack, like by like thirty percent or
something like that. So initially Ibought it for my parents to use,
(15:37):
uh, just because yeah, yeah, just because you're my father. He
has stencils in his heart. SoI'm just like yo, like okay,
yes, so let's do it.And then but they don't really use it.
Just it's just me. That's yeah, my dad as a pacemaker.
I try to help. Yeah yeah, yeah, nothing. The fact you
know, you live, you livea certain way for seventy years and it's
like you're not going to change.Oh yeah yeah. And then you know,
(15:58):
I try to run, I tryto uh get pete in and then
I'm kind of trying to be awareof what I eat. I do,
like, you know, just notfood that's not very good for you.
Yeah, I'll just say like that. Yeah. Yeah, So I tried
to just be mindful, like yo, I'll eat it sometimes, but not
every day, you know what I'msaying. So yeah, yeah, being
(16:21):
mindful of stuff like exactly how didyou lose stone? The motivation was definitely
like healthy and career like I Iwas just like I felt like my my
physical state was in aligned with mywith my visions, with the things I
wanted. But and he wanted todrop a project as well. Okay,
so he did with his weight loss. That was the market. I was
(16:41):
just sorry for the weight. SoI was like spend money, like barking
the project without spending money. Iwas like, look if I embark on
a physical transformation, either they're afan of the music or a fan of
the transformation. Yeah, yeah, yeah, So it was just like it's
a win win in the day,Yes, and you get healthier. So
yeah, I dropped one hundred fiftypounds in a year. Wow. Exercise
(17:03):
and a lot of working out andeating well, eating Wow, hundred and
fifty pounds in a year. Yeah, crazy, right, I weigh one
hundred and fifty pounds. Yeah, you as the whole person? Yeah,
person crazy? What does it meanfor you to be Korean? For me
to be Korean? So the thingis when I was, it took me
(17:27):
a long time living in Korea andfinding out about the history and how long
it took for us to get here, because you know, there was a
time where we were very oppressed, very we went through war. It technically
is still going on, very poorthe third world country. There's people worry
(17:48):
about eating, you know, andnot starving to death. So came from
that to now just basically running stufflike I don't know if you can sweart,
but just running ish you know rightnow is like yeah, well run
and ship like you know, inentertainment, whether it be fashion, whether
it be food, and so ittook me a long time to actually realize
(18:08):
how much my parents, my grandparents, like my great grandparents sacrifice for me
to even be on this radio showedit and release music and not worrying about
fighting the war or being starving todeath. You know. So I'm very
proud of be Korean. Yeah. Before it's like, yeah, like when
I was in elementary school, they'relike, yo, where you from?
Like from Korea's like what's that?Like you're certain Chinese? It's like,
(18:30):
no, I'm not Chinese. KoreansLike people didn't know where it was.
It wasn't even on the map.And now it's like the craziest ship in
the world right now. Yeah yeah, yeah, So I got Korean ta
yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah I used to yeah
yeah, So I think I thinkthat came from just the grittiness and the
(18:53):
work ethic of the Koreans. Andthen so now it's like you see the
result the fruits of our late whereI think, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, there's a lot ofraces out there right that are hard
workers, but Koreans and Mexicans work, We work and work and work until
the job is done and we're lookingfor another job to get the fact fact
(19:14):
I never stops. Come on,bro, it can say, yes,
it can. So we look backat the people that support us and love
us. We can't let them down. I how to bring them with us.
Facts? Facts, that's big.Facts. I eat Mexican food in
Korea like three times a week.Bro. You know it's crazy. Really
Yeah, I've been thinking about it. I'm gonna say it on an interview,
so stands so if anybody ever thinksit's your idea. So I've been
(19:34):
I've been contemplating for the last threeyears. Yeah, Korean barbecue style restaurant,
but with Mexican cuts inside dishes.Call it because it's like, yo,
it's like instead of yeah, Koreancuts, it's Koreans, you know,
wood chair whatever. And you gotlive mariachi, you got cocktails,
(19:57):
I mean tequila and solji. It'slike, you know what I'm saying.
So I don't know. I waslike, that's a great that's a dangerous
combination, a dangerous combination of it'sit's it's one of those projects in the
background because it takes a lot ofinvestment open up a restaurant, auto money.
So the restaurant, the Homy, right, there is a cook,
so you know cook of course heis. I mean, you know the
(20:19):
bottle. Yeah, we've been Francismiddle school, so we might do that.
You know, you might friends sincemiddle school and he's part of your
team. Well, I mean theyjust pulled up to you know, from
from Seattle, just to just sowe're friends some friends here. Remember how
(20:41):
proud are you this for dog Bro, especially you know, knowing my whole
life? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, So we've been in the
same B boy crew. Yeah, battle guys after the interview, me and
lection versus all y'all right, now, can we find dance videos on YouTube
(21:07):
of you guys? Like, Yeah, we've entered a lot of battles together.
So if you just type in ARTImovement AOM, I'm sure you there's
like over ten fifteen. How manytalent shows did you guys win together?
Though I know y'all entered talent Iowned, we didn't enter talent show.
We entered battles together. I've enteredtalent shows. I won our high school
talent show battles. How did weever win a battle together? I think
(21:32):
like maybe like one maybe one?So there's no proof they want, but
there's no battling on dirt. Wewant like one or two. But ever
so, it's weird because when theyenter without me, they want a lot
of battles. When we ended together, it's like we always lose in the
(21:56):
semi finals or like that type ofship sound crazy, Yeah, yeah,
yeah, it's all good though. It's for it's for memories. You know
that battling with the crew is likethat's different than performing in front of like
ten thousand people. It's like adifferent type of energy. Yeah. Growing
up seeing those dance movies being made, did you ever want to be in
a dance movie? Of course?Of course? Like like, yeah,
(22:18):
of course, of course I was. I wasn't a dance movie. Yes,
it didn't turn out very well.So I don't want you. I
don't want you to try to findit. But I wasn't a dance movie.
Yes you were, Yes you were. So I brought all the homies,
Yeah we were. We were ina dance movie. I was like,
yo, yeah, if the homiescan be in it, I'll be
(22:40):
in it. And so me andthe crew are in it. But it's
but don't don't find it. It'snot a very good. Please don't it's
not a very good one. Nexttime you come back, it's gonna be
in the intro. We're gonna outon the screens next time. Hey Jacking
