her friend, and five others board a private helicopter in
Orange County, California. The group is headed to a youth
basketball tournament at Mombas Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, a
little over seventy miles away, just northwest of Los Angeles.

It's a frequent destination for Bryant and his daughter, and
the pilot has flown that route many times before, but
on this foggy morning, conditions are different. On the five
