It's Danny. I don't know.I'm gonna be laughing all day at
the concept of the Steve kerr Buttcandle. No reason, no reason.
Wilford Brimley would have been eighty eight. He liked dope meal, he hiked

(03:51):

isn't where's Danny? He's probably passed. I passed it years ago. Bro.
Yeah, I think he was likeforty six or something like. That's
how old was he when he wasin Cocoon. Yeah, he was in
his mid late forties. I believe. Okay, forty h turned fifty during

(04:14):
filming, so essentially it's fifty yearsold, right, Yeah, he was
fifty. He looks seventy seven. That's incredible. Diabetis Yep. He was
a spokesperson for the sugar diabetes.Yes. If you guys ever see Cocoon,
Yeah, I think Cocoon is great. I think it's amazing. I'm
really good film, But thirty yearssince I've seen it, he should watch

(04:38):
cocoon and review it for us.But you know the Tonight Show nineteen fifty
four, it's about to be seventyyears that's been happening. And then the
Cleveland Show came out in two thousandand nine, Danny, that's great.
On the list of Danny's impressions, what here did he come out? Two
thousand and nine? Happy birthday tome, Cleveland Brown, that's the worst

(05:00):
impression I ever heard. That call. We on our shared doc we have
a list of Danny's characters. Theone added to it was Barney Rubble the
other day, Buddy, that's allI have. That's it. Somebody on
text when we had our rock breakingguy that called in earlier, asked if

(05:26):
Nolan yeah, who won tickets andcalled in in our hot New six am
segment, what are you doing up? Do you fw? Somebody asked him
if he screamed Yabba Dabba do whenhe got off work, how did we
miss damn? How did we missthat? Well done? Text her,
he's not barefooting to work and heslide off the tail of a brontosaurus before

(05:49):
he touched out like he's grinding therail. Gosh, so dumb. What's
two sports? At seven missed opportunity. Let's take up for that. Now
say shallow now seven, all right. Sports at seven today is brought to

(06:14):
you by Crap. Crap. It'sin your pants. It happens over the
weekend, and sometimes you just don'tknow where to put it. People want
more of it, and at thesame time they can't wait to get rid
of it. It's in your garage, it's in the floorboard of your car,
and it's often on your mind.Let's face it, it's everywhere.
It's time to change the way welook at crap. Go to crap dot

(06:40):
TV, Slash Coffee and learn moreabout how you can spread the word about
crap awareness, crap, Lean intoit, thanks crap, lean into it,
appreciate it. Crap I had sixtyseconds. You get to read thank

(07:00):
you, a good tagline. Almostlean into it. Rangers still two and
a half game lead in the ALWest. The best case scenario they lost
yesterday. They lost but the Marinersone, which meant that those two teams
kind of just stayed static and they'releading to and Alf. Those two teams
are over there playing with each other, feeling around each other's privates while the

(07:23):
Rangers are they can just lose andit's no big deal. I think it's
a three game or magic number toclinch a playoff spot for the Rangers,
Okay, and I think it wouldbe, and I could be wrong,
and maybe you lessen that, andI believe it's DL West are still in
there here and they win to night. Here's the big news for the Rangers,
and then we'll move on to RyderCup one O one. Scherzer was

(07:46):
originally expected to need eight to twelveweeks of rest to heal this major strain
in his forearm. Well, he'sbeen playing catch. I've been flicking it
and here's what he said yesterday. It's another step forward. I'm continuing to
strengthen my arm. Throwing off themound is close. He is working his
ass off to get back and itmay be dangerous and it could screw up

(08:11):
his arm for next year, buthe wants to pitch in the playoffs this
year. Our hetero chrome hero isgonna come strutting onto that field. Kind
of love him, I love it, kind of love him. Well,
I mean no dates on and evena guess when, like deep into the
playoffs, we need to win aseries. I don't know it does we

(08:31):
don't know. I don't know.I think that means it's such a he's
a war daddy. That's what ChrisYoung was like, saying that, you
know, oh yeah, well he'sdone for the season. Or does that
mean the season the postseason? Whatdoes that mean? Uh? That's why
Church when we played the audio ofit two weeks ago at we gotta get

(08:54):
into more, right, we gottawe gotta get this checked out and see
what it is like. Everything islike an urgent matter with him. I
just love it. So there's thatRangers again late night tonight against the Angels,
against the Angels tomorrow, and thenthree with Seattle. There are five
games left in the regular season andthey are getting close to clinching and anything
goes on clinch night. Guys,Ryder Cup is this weekend. When I

(09:18):
get home from Trees on Friday night, if you're seeing Electric six a great
band, when I get home fromthat, I'm gonna get home, probably
a little little buzzed, and I'mgonna turn on NBC and I'm gonna watch
the Ryder Cup, my number onesporting event of all time, and it's

(09:39):
not even close. I love that. You love it so much. There
is no number two. It's one, and then there's like the seventh favorite.
It's so good. Yeah, andright when it starts on the first
day is pretty damn juicy. Twowarning for everyone out there and Danny Friday
morning to be distracted. I'm withyou. We're gonna have it cranked up

(10:03):
in here. Yeah, watching ourboys. How do we want to do
Ryder Cup one on one? Whatare we doing? Remember, Danny knows
what it is. He's not anay yet, but I think he has
questions. We have information where thegolf bullies. Yeah, well the Ryder
comack you around all knowledge? Yebefore Danny asked questions. Let me just
get this out of the way.You just don't answer any of my questions.

(10:26):
All right, But I shall saythe Ryder Cup is not golf.
The Ryder Cup is about patriotism. He's right, it's going to play golf.
It's like anyone who got golf. It's a big display of flags.
Oh, it is the biggest playof flags and outfits. Yeah. For
the people that do that stuff.Yeah, Okay, you're just saying that

(10:52):
you hate America. Okay, Imean, if you want to be that
guy that's on you. You're theone who's gonna put your head to the
pillow. If you hate the troops, that's on you. That's something you're
gonna have to deal with. Andyou can look yourself in the mirror.
US First Europe Danny. Danny questions, shall we hit me? All right?

(11:13):
Let me get my list. Okay, let's start a list. Question
number one, how long has thisthing been going on? Nineteen twenty seven,
Danny? What the first ever RyderCup? It was matched with the
US against Great Britain. That's howthis began. And then and I think
it was nineteen seventy three, Ibelieve Great Britain team was officially changed to

(11:37):
Great Britain and Ireland because Great Britainwas like, these Irish dudes are pretty
good, we need a couple ofthem on board. And they actually played
on Team Great Britain before they madethat change, and then it was it
was a Great Britain in Ireland fora few years. The nineteen seventy nine
the GB and I as it wascalled, squad was expanded to include players
from all of continental Europe, whichis what we see today. You s

(12:00):
versus Europe love it Okay, Soin America, a lot of the tournaments
kind of have a father of thetournament. You know, you have the
Buick Open, I guess which wastiger Woods big tournament. Who would you
say is the father of the RyderCup. Who was the guy that was
the big proponent maybe even came upwith the idea? Where did it originate?

(12:22):
And why seven Valsteros was one ofthe guys who is seen as the
big I don't know, promoter ofit even. And then on the American
side, it was in the modernera. Modern era I'm talking about the
origin of came up with the ideafor this. It had to have been
it was God on some level. It was God. And then the troops,

(12:43):
sure the idea two men. Iknow it's named after English businessman Sam
Ryder. Samuel Ryder. He donatedthe trophy, which is a very iconic
trophy as well. We're going toget to the Claret Jug in a moment.
Guys, well that's not what thisis. This is not the Claret
Jug. But yeah, I don'tknow. I mean, that's the dude

(13:03):
who's it's named after. I don'tknow. I think they were golf in
their asses off in the twenties andsaid let's do a little team competition,
settle it. Yeah, but inthe modern era, Sevy, well that's
who I mean that it's Sevy wasstarted in nineteen twenty seven. It's been
going on for a very long time. But you're right, in the modern

(13:24):
era, the guys we think ofis the face of the Europeans, fior
Euros. Yeah, and there's athought for a long time that it means
more to the Euros because American golfdominance has been a thing for a lot
of decades generally speaking, and Americans, to some in the world, even
golf were unrelated, are considered selfishand more interested in themselves. So the

(13:48):
team aspect is really embraced by theEuropeans. But okay, next question,
what kind of pageantry should we expectbig events like Super Bowls, World Series.
They bring out celebrities, they bringout luminaries, What kind of what
kind of pomp and circumstance is goingto be surrounding this tournament, if any

(14:11):
at all. Well, the biggestcelebrity they'll have is probably just somewhere near
the first team column. Montgomery isjust over there eating a bowl of pasta.
Jiggling his man breasts. Hut Kevyis gonna be there. I know
you get a press pass. Yeah. I don't know that there's celebrity involvement

(14:31):
that you can count on, butwhat there is is the highest level of
fan involvement and engagement. You willhave synchronized chants galore. Anytime they play
this stuff in Europe, which theyare this year in Rome at Marco Simone,
we will have scores of people deckedout in exact outfits, matching outfits,

(14:52):
singing, doing chants. And Iget to say, Europeans destroy US
fans as far as chance go.Ours is more of just a drinking show
here in America and over there theyhave. It's very coordinated, it's very
it's just more intense, I wouldsay, yeah, but it's just the
number one thing that you don't thinkabout this in golf much. It's just

(15:13):
the idea. A guy hits ashot into the bunker for the other country
and everyone goes yeah, they're cheeringin his face, and a guy for
your team rips it down the middleof a fairway and you're going hot dog
and everyone jelling, and it's justit's just amazing. It's all the whole
thing, because every single point mattersfor this team aspect, that's what matters.

(15:35):
Yeah. That brings me to mynext question. What determines I know,
this event happens every two years, correct? Yeah, okay? What
determines the location? I think theygo back and forth between Europe and the
United States, they alternate. Yes, Well, what determines what course that
it's going to be played on?Is there a bidding situation? Is it

(15:56):
already predetermined years in advance of wherethese events are going to be? The
Ryder Cup is going to be held, do you but by a long time?
Ye? But what constant? Imean who who makes those decisions?
God? God, I actually don'tknow that. I give up. I
don't know. Is it the PGAOF and the U and the RNA,

(16:18):
I mean they work together, Thisis a this works for both. Yeah.
I mean they are rewarding courses withthis. I mean it's much like
assigning a major to a course.I mean, it's it's a good thing,
you know, I mean everyone.I don't think it's very combative.
I mean they're trying to award venueswith the honor of hosting the Ryder Cup,
which is massive do the venues themselveslobby Okay, that's our new headquarters

(16:45):
in Frisco's lobbying to get it intwenty thirty nine or twenty forty one,
I believe, and it could beearlier than that. Twenty thirty one and
twenty thirty five are both on accountedfor it right now. But yeah,
Bethpage Black in New York will hostthe twenty twenty five one. That is
the Black Course. It's, ofcourse so hard. They have a sign
on the front that says regular golfersdon't come around here, like, don't

(17:07):
play these teas, you don't belonghere. It's kind of cool, like
it's a famous hard course. Butwe get to see some cool European courses
that aren't in the British Open Roto, which tends to be the only courses
that US American fans know are theones in the rotation for the British Open,
Right St Andrews that like the famouscourses Troon and all this, so
they jump out. We've remember seenMarco Simone. I haven't. It's probably

(17:29):
on the euro Tour or on theDP World Tour, but that's in Rome.
There's a course in Ireland twenty twentyseven. That's that's kind of cool
that we'll be able to see forthe first time. So yeah, I
mean, it's certainly a ward tohost this thing, and but how that
actually shakes out, I'm not positive. Okay, let's do a little speed
round. How has lived impacted thefield this season or that for this tournament.

(17:49):
Well, Dustin Johnson was not rankedas the top golfer, so he
couldn't automatically automatically qualify Brooks Kepka ison the team, Bryson d Shambo is
not. There's a feeling that therecould be some politics involved there because Justin
Thomas, who is on the tour, was selected. But he's a friend
of everyone's, including Tiger Woods. But Zach Johnson is your Ryder Cup captain

(18:11):
and he is a PGA Tour loyalists, so it does feel like he would
probably shun most of the live guyseither way. The live guys were not
going to get automatic bids because theywere not getting PGA Tour points in the
top six of the twelve people onthe team are automatic bids based on their
tour points. Don't make sense. It made it harder for live players to

(18:32):
automatically qualify, they essentially couldn't,so they have to be so good that
the captains would have no choice butto leave him off and keepco is the
only one that fit that category.Okay. Two more, how much do
players make for participating and or winningthe Ryder Cup? Free? Nothing?
Do they cover their expenses? Yes, there's no monetary benefit. This is

(18:52):
simply for national pride. Yes,that's one of the things that makes it
awesome. I agree. The onlytime you're not just playing for yourself,
you're playing for the partner that you'repaired with or obviously singles is Sunday.
But yes, it is a wholedifferent sport, which time it's cool to
go to work and not get paidseriously? Okay, which brings me to
my final question, and this isthe big one that I think most people

(19:12):
that are just kind of casual golfviewers that don't maybe know much about the
Ryder Cup want to know what makesthe gameplay different than a typical PGA event
like the Masters, US Open, etc. Why is the Ryder Cup different,
How does it work? How isit structured? Tell me, well,

(19:33):
the the format of play is different. It's not just one hundred and
fifty six people playing golf against eachother. They partner them up, so
you basically get two guys going offagainst two other guys, two Americans versus
two Europeans, okay, and youhave six per okay. But they go
out to eight at a time, basically the four teams at a time,

(19:57):
so there are four points on theline every time they go out. So
there's two sets of play on Friday, two sets of play on Saturday.
Don't understand what you mean? Twoplay Friday morning. Yeah, they're gonna
play two on two, right, and it's foursomes or four ball the first
one morning four it's foursomes and that'sall right, Actually that's yeah, that's

(20:21):
foursomes, which is alternate shot.So they're gonna go out there on the
first tea, which i'll tell youabout tomorrow because there's some amazing quotes about
the first tea. It's called themost terrifying shotting golf. And all these
dudes who are these legends of golfcannot put the ball on a te their
hands are shaking so bad. Butthey're gonna go out there Friday morning into
this cauldron at Marco Simone and it'llbe two on two. It'll be two

(20:44):
Americans versus two Europeans, and they'replaying alternate shots. So let's say that
the two Americans are whoever Speth andThomas right, ye, Speth teas off
first, Thas second takes the secondshot, Speth hits the third, back
and forth and then and from thatpoint it's eighteen holes and you just play.
Then it's match play. So ifif the Speth and Thomas make a

(21:04):
par let's say, and then theEuropean team of Stepstraka and ludvig Aberg make
a bogey, the US is oneup. And no matter how much you
win that whole bud Yeah. Andif if Sepstraca pumps it out of bounds
and then they retee it, andthen he puts it in a lake and
then they drop it, he hitsin a bunker, and the US is

(21:26):
on the green right by the holein two, the US the European team
can concede. You don't even haveto finish the whole. You're like,
oh, well, you win thehole, pick him up and a wash
is a wash. Push yeah,I'll square, And each team gets half
a point. So there's four matchesgoing on. At once, and they'll
flash the leaderboard or the scoreboard upon the graphic and you'll see the American
flag or the European flag based onwho's winning up or whatever. And you

(21:52):
get a point for each of thesematches. So there's four matches in the
morning, four matches in the afternoon. Saturday, there's four matches in the
morning, four matches in the afternoon. Sunday, there's twelve one on one
match matches. Is it all aboutpoints? All that? It's all about
winning your match play battle and winninga point. The best you can do
is win one point, and theteam wins. Like that, the country

(22:15):
wins, the region wins on atthe end of the all the golfing's done
on Sunday. What determines the winnerof the Ryder Cup. So there's twenty
eight total points. You have toget fourteen and a half points to win,
Okay, So whoever gets to fourteenand a half wins the Ryder Cup.
Now is this a person or isthe no team the team? Yeah,
there's four. Yeah, there's twentyeight total points and all the stuff

(22:37):
he just said, including twelve pointsavailable on Sunday, and whoever gets to
fourteen and a half wins. Now, if it's a tie, which has
happened, the team that has theRyder Cup retains it. So if they
tie fourteen to fourteen, which doeshappen, the US, who's who won
at Whistling Straits and the last RyderCup here in Wisconsin, would would retained
the Cup and essentially win the RyderCup. US is not one in Europe

(23:03):
since what ninety two, a longass time. Europeans have dominated US over
there. For sure. We justnow won two years ago. We won
for the first time in a longtime, and this is good, like
a historical landmark that goes back, that involves Tiger and phil And maybe we'll
talk about that tomorrow and might giveus a little bit of information about the
course, and I might ask formore clarity on the structure and the gameplay,

(23:26):
because I still don't feel one hundredpercent like I understand it sounds like
the games change every day. Yes, yeah, so it's like three different
types of Golf's three different types ofgolf. And there's a chance you don't
even finish the eighteen yeah. Yeah. If if your team is four up
and there's only three holes left, there's no point what can you possibly do?
And then you turn around to doit again that night. Yeah,

(23:48):
and you switch partners if you want. If you did really good, you're
gonna stick with your partner. Ifyou didn't, Zach Johnson's and the squad
are going to change partners. Somepeople sit out those first two games.
They don't even play those first twodays because there's there's what eight guys to
play, so you don't have toplay. Yeah, you might not play
at all until your singles match Sunday. Sometimes, Yeah, some guys won't

(24:10):
because some guys are on the teamprobably shouldn't be on the team. Yeah,
like a very bad form, orif you just got your balls blown
off, They're like, all right, you ain't playing in the afternoon.
I don't understand singles match. Canwe hit that up off at the top?
Absolutely, real quick. We're calledthe golf bullies, but we're friendly
and we want you to like I'veever met. We didn't even take my
lunch. Yeah, exactly, that'snext. Plus, oh my god,

(24:36):
also, can we get next tothe scuttle butt. I've got something very
interesting involving the new video board atthe American Airline Center. I saw it
last Night Next. On Night seven, won the Freak
