Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am Sherry Mackie at his time for us to
go to God in prayer. You know today is Juneteenth,
a day of freedom, a day of remembrance. So Heavenly Father,
in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before you
with hearts full full of gratitude, full of grief, and
at the same time, God, full of hope. We thank

(00:21):
you Lord for Juneteenth, a day that marks the breaking
of chains, a day when the echoes of liberty finally
reached the last of the enslaved.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
The Lord.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Even as we celebrate, we also grieve. We grieve for
the sin of the world. We grieve for the sin
of slavery. We grieve for the centuries of dehumanization, for
the stolen names, the stolen families, the stolen dreams.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
We grieve.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
But at the same time we do not grieve without hope.
Our hope, our trust, our faith, our confidence is in you.
For you are the God who sees, the God, God
who delivers Israel from Pharaoh's hand, the God who breaks
every chain, spiritual, physical, and generational. Lord, we remember, We
remember those who waited, who labored under oppression, who prayed

(01:11):
through pain, who sang songs of freedom, even when freedom
was only a whisper on the wind. God, we honor
their endurance, their faith, their fight. Let us never, God,
forget the cost of dignity denied.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
But God, you are a redeemer.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
You bring beauty from ashes, You lift the heads of
the oppressant, called them your been loved. So today God,
we thank you, not just for a date on the
calendar before the truth. It represents that freedom delayed is
not freedom denied. Because your justice is short, your timing
is perfect. And yet, Lord, we confess there's still work

(01:48):
to be done in our city, in our nation, in
our country, in our world. God, there are still systems
of injustice, still hearts hardened by hate.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
So God we cry out to you today.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like the
mighty stream. God, teach us to be bridge builders, to
speak truth and love, to act justly, to love mercy,
to walk humbly with you.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
God, let Juneteenth not only remind.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Us of what was broken, but awaken us to what.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Can still be restored.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
God, let it stir within us a holy anger toward
injustice and a holy love for all people made.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
In your image. We pray especially for healing.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
God, healing for the descendants of the enslaved, Healing for
this nation still marked by division. God, Healing for hearts
wounded by generations of silence and pain.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
God, let your church rise up as a voice for
the voiceless.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Let our faith and not be passive but prophetic. Let
our worship not be hollow but holy and.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Committed God to justice.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Because whom the sun sets free is free indeed, and
that freedom must flow through every heart, every home, every nation.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
God, we thank you Jesus.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Our Savior, our liberator, our peace. You bore the cross
to bring true freedom. Thank you for the freedom of salvation.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Today. In your mighty Match's name, we pray. Amen. Amen, Amen,
