Speaker 1 (00:01):
W r k O presens Boston's only nightly sports betting show,
The Gambler with Adam Kaufman. Now from nine till midnight,
your home to talk spreads, prompts, totals and more.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Hey, Doc, and what's the harm in bringing back a
little info in the future.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Maybe we could place a couple of baths. The Gambler
starts now.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
All I have to do is bet on the winner
and I'll never lose.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Kears, Adam Kaufman.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Happy, I'm today. Everyone welcome in. This is The Gambler
with Adam Kaufman. I am Adam. Dan Watkins here, Hey Dan,
you know we got Brian Bud on the board. Brian, Hello,
how are we doing well? You know what, let's just
get out of the way. Let's just start with a
little bit of bitching the Boston Celtics. Oh good God.
And you know I want to shout out real quick

(00:51):
Sean Grandy, longtime radio voice of the team. I don't
know if you guys saw what he tweeted out late
last night, I think again earlier today, just to really
kind of highlight what Boston's been doing lately as compared
to Detroit entering this game. The Pistons. Seven straight wins
for the first time in seventeen years. Big deal. The

(01:12):
Celtics six straight wins, all of those by double figures,
eight straight road wins, a dozen consecutive victories against the Pistons,
and oh, by the way, seven straight wins in Detroit.
Seltz started slow, outscored by nine in the opening quarter,

(01:33):
covered up that exact deficit in the second fifty five
apiece come halftime laiden egg there in the third quarter,
outscored by eleven. And what really did the Men? Outside
of not having Jalen Brown tonight, which obviously doesn't help anything,
but still we've seen them win games shorthanded many times before,

(01:55):
what really did the Men was they started the fourth
quarter with Jason Tatum on the bench for the first
two three minutes and it was just all Pistons, all Cunningham,
your guy, Beasley, Thompson. You know, the Thompson Twins had
been giving them a hard time between Houston Detroit as

(02:15):
of late. It was just like non stop Detroit those
first few minutes to where the Celtics were basically dead
before Jason Tatum even checked back into the game. Joe
Missoola only put him out there for just a few minutes,
because it really didn't get any better. The non Tatum
minutes were an issue. The Tatum minutes on the floor
weren't all that much better. I mean, he was a

(02:36):
minus eleven tonight despite finishing with twenty seven points, and
Boston is only seconds away from getting blown out in Motown.
It's one seventeen to ninety five right now, Detroit is leading,
so it's going to be eight straight wins for the
Pistons despite all of Boston's road success this year. We
talked a little bit about it with Dan Titus last night,
twenty four and six, entering this game on the road,

(02:59):
and yet ugly, ugly performance out of the Celtics, you know,
just bad game out of Christaps porzing Is is. Derek White
was good, Peyton Pritchard was good, Tatum was you know,
he didn't have a bad game. I mean, he really didn't.
It's just unfortunately you needed him to do more tonight.
And where I am particularly ticked off is I was

(03:21):
on the over on his points prop, which was twenty
seven and a half. Jason Tatum entered the fourth quarter
with twenty seven points, not a single point in that
fourth quarter in the abbreviated action. I think he only
played seriously three four minutes in the fourth Performansoho was like, nope,
pull him, not our night.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Yeah, I'm mad at the books for this one too.
I was searching all over every book possible to try
to find an al Horford rebounds line for tonight, and
he was not posted anywhere. And of course he has
ten boards, yep. And this one tonight. I really liked
the angle of him returning to Michigan after he had
that big ceremony for his high school jersey getting retired.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Recently, they show all these years two decades later.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah, they showed that that's all it took. Yeah, twenty
years for out of high school jer.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
They were talking about on the broadcast, apparently scheduling issues.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Oh yeah, I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Anyways, two decades for twenty years.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
But yeah, I really like that angle. And if you
just look at what he's done when he does play
in Detroit throughout his career, I mean, he was like
minimum five rebounds, And I figured he'd probably get a
little extra playing time tonight with Brown and out of
the lineup, and then he'd be in the starting lineup
which he was, and yeah, he had ten boards tonight.
So I'm a little mad at the books for that one.
Very curious that, you know how they just decided to

(04:37):
leave that line down today.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Well it was interesting too. There was a lot of
like there was just weird stuff going on with the
books today. For instance, there was a stretch of time
in the middle of the day for I don't know
if it lasted a couple hours or if it just
felt that way. But nothing in terms of props, I mean,
only sides and totals and you know, some alternate lines

(05:01):
of the like, but no player anything, no props of
any kind for any game we're listed on Caesars. It
was really odd. Eventually they did come back, and I
look to some of these books. You know, Caesar's is
a good one for this, MGM is a good one

(05:22):
for this, not always FanDuel, not always DraftKings, for some
of the depth guys, the real like down the bench,
like like you said, you know, the universal props are
one thing, and typically Al Horford falls into that category.
But Marcus Sasser this was a prop bomb play over

(05:43):
four and a half points, figuring he was going to
get a little run tonight, and he did at eight
by halftime, that's exactly where he finished. But he was
only available on a couple of books. He was really
not widely found. In fact, Chowdry's choice are show play
Today from Sammy Chowntry, which by the way, was a
first quarter cash It's plays like this that it honestly

(06:07):
like I wouldn't have personally gone near this play on
my own period, let alone have this be my favorite
play of the entire day. But that's why Sammy is
who he is and I am who I am. It
was Zubot's over one and a half assists and he
was you know, I think it was maybe on DraftKings

(06:28):
for minus one twenty something like that, but it was
not widely distributed like I wanted to play it on Fandle.
Wasn't on fandle. You couldn't find his assists on a
few books. It was just it was there a weird
day in that respect, with some stuff being available in
some places, some not, which is why we always preach.
And anyone who gambles or talks about gambling in this

(06:51):
space will tell you beyond multiple books, if not just
for the main purpose of line shopping, but because something
you want to play may be available on one book
and not on another. Just kind of is what it is,
a little weird, but sometimes that's the way it goes.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Absolutely, and it definitely like depending on the sport too,
Like when it for sure with hockey props, it's it's insane.
Just some books just don't even put up like points
or like a single point or anything like that. They
you know, they limit your shots, and it's tough. I mean,
there's a bunch of stuff in like the hockey game
later tonight and one of these hockey games coming up
that I'm on that wasn't that just isn't up on

(07:29):
every single book. You pretty much are limited to just
DraftKings or fandle.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
So we have what seven games I think late night
we have five in the world of college basketball. Cody
Mitchell is going to join us from the bet the
Juice podcast was with us you specifically a couple of
weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Last week.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah we will, Yeah, last week, we'll have a j
Sholz as'man on a little while recently celebrated a birthday.
Good for him. NHL talk in the next hour because
while today is mild, tomorrow slate on the ice, and
Matt Lamarca, who we have not seen or heard from
in a little while from Fantasy Life, will pop on

(08:08):
for some NHL or rather NBA talk in the final hour,
and I don't think he does much in NHL NBA talk,
and we'll get into people's parlay with him as well.
But we have five late night college hoops plays starting
at ten pm Eastern or later that Cody will help
us break down. There's two late night NHL games and

(08:31):
one in the NBA that gets started in about twenty minutes.
I want to do something a little bit differently. Maybe
we'll make this a recurring thing if we have fun
with it. But you know, we usually save a group
play for the final segment of the opening hour, maybe
a little bit earlier when the guests are on depends,
but you know, typically in this first segment, I realize,
I apologize if you are listening out there in podcast

(08:52):
form this next couple of minutes, it's not for you.
It's just not We're gonna be talking about things that
are happening tonight that have already ended by the time
you are listening. But for the live listener and for
us and for our show card, which we will check
in on in a little while as well. There's an
opportunity to maybe add to it again volume over variance,
as we have started to preach a little bit more

(09:13):
recently here. So I thought we'd do a little something that,
for lack of a better name, I am calling state
your case, which is independently. I've come up with a play,
just one that I like. I've asked An to do
the same and Brian as well, and we will each
take a moment to give our play and a little
rationale behind it, and maybe we will make none show

(09:36):
official or up to three, depending on how the panel
feels about everything. So how do you guys feel about this?
You go with it?

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Who's leading off?

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Let's go to Brian. I mean usually when he gives
out place he tends to start, so pick it up.
But what do you got?

Speaker 4 (09:53):
This is something that me and Dan spoke about before
the show, but is a huge narrative play. Mackenzie Black
is former Devil's goalie now goalie for the Avalanche. I
want to instead of going to his saves prop which
we saw was swimming last night. You know, we don't
want to rely on the other teams shooting. So I
like Devils under two and a half goals at minus

(10:14):
one oh four. Okay, and Colorado they've they've been, They've
not played well since the Foig Nations Tournament. They're back
home tonight, so I think they're gonna get a little
more steady and they'll break off that RUSS from the
Four Nations tournament.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
All right, what do you have? Dan?

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Yeah, I'm staying in that game too. I love Colorado tonight.
I have like five different plays in this game, but
my favorite one is actually a little builder fellas. It's
the abs on the money line parlayed with Nathan McKinnon
to have a point. Here. McKinnon has not have a point,
does not have a point since the Four Nations, so
back to back games without a point. He has not
gone three straight games without getting on the score sheet

(10:53):
since twenty eighteen, So big time narrative play there. Colorado's
also lost back to back. I think this is a
great spot to back them as well. So you put
these two lags together minus one twenty on DraftKings for
a little builder.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Okay, I am going to give you a couple of
plays that I like because I just say, I couldn't
decide between the two, so I'm just going to give
you both. And they are both in the basketball game
that starts in about twenty minutes between these Spurs and
the Rockets. And I know we are already invested in
this game because Dan Titus last night. Yeah, who Sports
gave us the over at plus money on Alprah and

(11:27):
Shangun rebounds ten and a half, so we'll be looking
for that. I'm going to go to the other side here,
the Spurs. I'll give you one juicy play. This is
Devin Vessel under two and a half three pointers. I
was on this yesterday it hit. This is a Joe
Delera special. Just to read part of what he wrote
on the Action app with this one. No real understanding

(11:48):
why the Spurs are running particular rotations. Vasel just played
thirty plus minutes last night after not sniffing it the
prior to games, giving it to back to back. Maybe
they switch up the rotation some Either way, thirty minutes
is about his ceiling and he has missed this in
six straight games. I will add to that that Toad Sports,

(12:08):
I just searched plays from this game and probability and
edge and that type of thing, and Vicelles under for
threes came up as the number one play with a
roughly seventy five percent probability according to the numbers there.
And but I said it's juicy. It is, I believe
at best minus one sixty six, so we'd definitely be

(12:31):
drinking juice if it did not hit. The less juicy
play is Harrison Barnes, also of the Spurs, and that
is over three and a half rebounds. I think it's
minus one twenty and change. I can pull that up.
That's another play that comes recommended by Toad's analytics. But

(12:53):
simply put, he had thirty plus minutes against the Pelicans
last night and has been clearing this line again three
and a half rebounds with regularity, in fact, going back
to February third, So essentially this entire month one two, three, four, five, six, seven,

(13:13):
eight nine, ten, ten games in that span, ninety percent
hit rate. He has had four plus rebounds in nine
of those ten games. So those are the two that
I am presenting. Would anyone like to react to what
any of us had to say?

Speaker 3 (13:30):
The I mean, Brian's play kind of goes right hand
in hand with mine, So I was looking at that
as well. Definitely, Blackwood does have one start against the
Devil's in his career, was earlier this season when he
was with the Sharks, and he shut him out. Do
you like that as well? Yeah, I like the Barnes
look a lot. The vi Cell plays just so juiced
that it's just if we get on the wrong side
of variants, that's gonna suck. Yeah, like big time. Sure

(13:51):
the Barns when I'm looking at my rhythm's got them
projected for over five rebounds tonight. So I like that.
I like that look. And yeah, like I said, obviously,
my play is my favorite play.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Naturally, Brian.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Ye, what's the odds on yours? Dan minus one, twenty one,
twenty Okay, Yeah, I mean I think Colorado is going
to win to them, maybe the safer play and let's
say it's almost a guarantee McKinnon.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
Gets a point.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
Any thoughts on the basketball, No, not really. I mean
I like everything you said. I like all the points
you made, So is that so?

Speaker 2 (14:21):
I mean, obviously, so I agree. I like the Barnes
play better than the b Cell play, in part because
of the Jews, So I would advocate for that one,
and I do think there is a redundancy to your
two plays, so I certainly wouldn't play both. I tend
to like the Builder and the you know, McKennon, and
as to win one a little bit more so. The question,

(14:44):
I think we all like that one, so we can
make that show official. The question is whether you guys
want to make Barnes official.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Yeah, I'm in.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
I'm in, all right. A couple of group plays very good.
That is where we're starting, and the couple more to
the card here. We'll see how it plays out, but
we'll get those loaded into the app as well. This
has been fun. We're not nearly done.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
However, locks, leans and everything in between.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
It says here we should work in teams. It wants
to be my sponnor. I don't think you should be
doing too much gambling tonight, Alan gambling, because anything about gambling,
it's not gambling when you know you're gonna win. Yes.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Now back to Boston's only nightly betting show, The Gambler
with Adam Kaufman. Listen on the iHeartRadio app or your
smart speaker.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
We are back The Gambler with Adam Kaufman. We got
some hockey, talking bank roll repairs on the way here
in this hour and joining us for the first time
in a little while. A recent birthday boy as well.
I don't know how many years young he is, but
it doesn't matter because he is still lacking the appropriate

(16:00):
surity that we require for this show. Nevertheless, he's here anyway.
AJ Shawls, who of course is over at Rodal Wired
does a great job covering hockey some soccer as well.
He's on Twitter AJ Shoals twenty four, AJ, how are
you Bud?

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Pretty good?

Speaker 5 (16:18):
How you guys doing how you been?

Speaker 2 (16:20):
I can't complain. I well could complain, but usually I
do that off the top of the show and then
we just kind of ease in and work it from there.
It depends on how the betting is going. You know,
people don't need to hear about my personal life around here.
It's how do the bets pan out? And that's that's
generally how it goes. The NHL has been a little
bit weird lately, coming out of the four Nations break

(16:42):
great tournament, a lot of fun. We've talked about it
here on this show, but he is very uneven. Slates
we got a monster slate in front of us tomorrow,
that largely you are here to discuss just a little
three gamer here today, including some games in progress right now.
We're you on anything today?

Speaker 5 (17:00):
Yeah, I mean, I think, you know, you always have
to look at Colorado when when you get the opportunity there,
their offense is just it's so good, even you know,
post Migo Ranton in trade. So I've usually at least
take a look at, you know, what sort of value
I can get from them on the puck line, because,
like I said, the offense is there, the goaltending, you know,

(17:23):
I wasn't sold on Blackwoods as the addition there, but
he has, you know, stepped up and looked really good there.
So definitely for you know, for Vancouver, La, I think
the under made a lot of sense there. Yes, you
don't have the stature dentical for Vancouver, but neither one

(17:43):
of those teams, you know, no JT. Miller anymore. For
the Canucks, Petterson's been struggling. So that just felt like
a game that we weren't going to see a lot
of offense.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
In as we look toward tomorrow, and again a lot
of games in front of us may as well start
in our backyard here with the Bruins. So it's not
been pretty for a number of different reasons. One, there's
four game skid, two of those most recently an extra time.
On top of that, they're just allowing a boatload of goals.
It's fifteen over the last four games. Now you've got

(18:14):
the Islanders coming into the garden. This is a team
that obviously they have seen this year, very similar to
their last meeting. As a matter of fact, just last
time out against Toronto on last night Tuesday, a five
to four overtime loss. The last time that these two
teams matched up, and Boston did beat New York on

(18:36):
the island back in late November, just after Thanksgiving. That
was a six to three wins. So, you know, we've
got a little bit of a sample size between these
two teams this year. But what do we make of
this next meeting where the Bruins are marginal favorites but
it's minus money on both sides.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
Yeah, I think for me, I'm not really sold on
grabbing alt in this one. I just you know, as
the line suggests, it's it's a bit of a toss
up here. What I do like is is the under
I know some of those games have been good. But
I mean, you're talking about two of the worst power
plays in the league from that standpoint, and you know,

(19:19):
if you can get marginally better goaltending, I mean, it
looks like we're probably going to have so broken for
the Islanders. You know, Swamen will probably go for for Boston.
You know, and just when when you have just such
poor power play numbers, you know, the shots totals, neither
one is over thirty Bruins just twenty seven point four

(19:41):
per game. I'm just not seeing a way to get
a lot of offense out of this one, even though
there have been times where you know, the offense is
or the goaltending has struggled for both teams.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Aj we got a rematch at the Stanley Cup Final
from a year ago tomorrow night, Edmonton in Florida going
at it down in South Florida tomorrow night. The Oilers
have been a disaster defensively since the Four Nations ended.
Here They've given up a least four goals in all
three games. They've given up a six, a seven as well.
Here they take on the Panthers, who are gonna be
without Matthew Chuck. Still, I mean, we have the total

(20:17):
sitting at there's some five and a half's out there.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
How are you?

Speaker 3 (20:19):
How are you looking to play this one? And when
it comes to money line, it's basically a pick. I'm
here with Florida a slight favorite at home.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
Yeah for me, So in this one, I don't mind
taking the Panthers. I just think you know, they've got
They've got Bobrovski. Spencer Night went most recently, so Bob
got you know, some extra time off there, and he's
he's a gamer. Yeah, you know, there's the occasional one
that comes out that's that's just a struggle. And you know,

(20:47):
this isn't like, you know, the Panthers suddenly don't have
any offense just because to Chuck's you know out of
the game that you know, they've still got Ryan Hard
and Bennett. You know, there's plenty of guys that team
that can still generate some offense for them. So I'm
not worried about that. I just think overall, I like,

(21:09):
you know, I like that team a little bit better.
You know, Edmonton's defensive struggles aren't aren't going to go away.
So as long as Lebrowski and the Panthers can can
keep it a little tighter, they should be able to
pull it off. You know, the Oilers are team built
on just getting goals from Drysido and McDavid and hoping

(21:29):
they can you know, win in a blowout, and I
think the Panthers are better structured team.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
Some heavy favorites tomorrow, like north of minus two hundred.
You know, you got the Lightning at home against the Flames,
the Canadians at home against the Sharks, Hurricanes at home
against the Sabers. None more so obviously than the nearly
minus four hundred Golden Knights at home against the Blackhawks.
My question for you is which dog should we be

(21:58):
looking at?

Speaker 5 (22:00):
And so, you know, the Knights, like they're they're so
heavily favored that you can't even really get good value
on the puck line, Like you're still looking around around
minus one fifty on that one. So while I definitely
think Vegas is gonna win that one, I'm not totally
sold on on that result. The Canadians just, yeah, that's

(22:23):
another team that just worries me that, you know they
you know, Montembeau has has definitely been better this season,
but the Sharks, you know, they've had a couple of
runs this year where they've they've played well. So out
of all those teams, I'm going to just go back,
you know, go back to the lightning. You can get
plus one twenty on the puck line to get some value.

(22:45):
They're at home. Tampa has always been a well well
played at home at Amelia Arena there.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (22:54):
And of course again, you know, I don't mean harpine
goaltending too much here, but I'm Vasilevski is still one
of the top net miners in the world, and I think,
you know, he's always capable of stealing you one, always
capable of coming out with a shutout at you know,
against anybody really, So I like the lightning on the

(23:15):
puck line for this one.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
So the Capitals aj home tomorrow night taking on the
Saint Louis Blues Washington coming off a loss to Calgary
the other night. But besides that game, though, they have
just been putting the puck in the back of the
net like crazy the past couple of games here since
that Four Nations breaking. Alex Olvechkin, especially with four goals
in three games since the since the Four Nations break,

(23:38):
I mean, OVI Tomorrow night is even money to score
and anytime goal, as he is just twelve away now
from breaking Wayne Gretzky's record. Are you looking at Olvechkin
tomorrow night you're looking at the Capitals or are you
going the other way and maybe thinking about Saint Louis.

Speaker 5 (23:52):
Absolutely, I mean I plus one hundred. I mean it's
free money at this point. I would expect him to
keep rolling. You know, obviously some of those my Penguins
being one of them, not hard games for the Capitals
right now. The Blues aren't, you know, significantly better. But
I like both Oveskin to score and I like the

(24:15):
over in this game. The fact that it's sitting at
five and a half, I you know, I don't think
it's outrageous a four to two five to win something
from Washington there, Uh certainly would cover that over. So
I'd be more concerned about the total if it was
at six or six and a half. But with it
sitting at five and a half, I think you take Washington, uh,

(24:36):
you know, Washington and the Blues to go over, and
will definitely be part of that. I love getting even
money for him to score a goal.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
It's not a gambling comment, but I'd be remiss if
I didn't make it, am I. The only one that
is is it's inevitable. Records are meant to be broken,
all that stuff. We Vechkin. He's gonna get there. He's
he's close enough. Obviously, he'll play until his legs fall off,
just just to make sure it happens. And he's still
in other worldly shape. That's great. I mean, I appreciate
greatness when I see it. That said, I didn't want

(25:08):
him to break this record. I didn't like my my
favorite stat in all of sports, and there are so
many great ones, has always been unintended. I suppose with
Wayne Gretzky that he has more like, yeah, everyone knows
he has the most points in NHL history. He has
more assists than any other player in NHL history has

(25:30):
total points, and the you know, half the fun part
of sharing that with people who didn't know was always Oh,
by the way, he also has more goals than anybody
else has scored goals. And that's about the fall.

Speaker 5 (25:43):
Man.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
I'm kind of bummed about it, you know, like, due
respect to OV dudes awesome, but I don't know, I
wanted Wayne to hang on to this one.

Speaker 5 (25:52):
Yeah, I mean, nobody will be surprised. That's listened to
me over on you know, on Roda Wires podcast or
with you guys here on the Gambler, like I'm a
Crosby guy, I'm a Penguin guy, and so yeah, I'm
with you. I didn't really want to see this one fall.
Having said that, if you look at the Capitol schedule
the rest of the way, there is a distinct possibility

(26:16):
that he could break the record against the Penguins down
the stretch here in April, which I think would have
some sort of you know, poetic you know poetic storyline,
you know, the you know, Crosby Ovechkin rivalry all this time,
and then for him to get that record against Crosby

(26:37):
would be quite the story. So it definitely could happen.
We'll see, but you know, at the Rady scoring right now,
it's only going to be another week or so, but
we won't even make it through most of March if
he keeps up this space.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
No, it's crazy. I saw tweet earlier today and I
wish I remember exactly what it said, but I think
it was coming into the season, he was like plus
twelve hundred to break Gretzky's goals record and now today
minus two hundred. That's the torrid pace that the dude
has been on throughout the year. We'll let more with
AJ Shols from road to wire talking hockey when we

(27:12):
come back. We'll get back to hockey in just a
second with AJ Sholes. But I got to mention Dan, so,
thank goodness, my NBA builder is in. It is cash today.
I spent a lot. I devoted a lot of time
to this earlier today looking for just what in my

(27:32):
us I used the boost Yeah, wow, well yeah, this
wasn't a college basketball boost. This is an NBA boost. Oh,
KBA booster college basketball. I thought it was.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
I thought it was all boosts.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
No, no, no, no, the the college basketball booster where I
need to chill out the NBA boosts. I've just been
on the wrong side of variance with a lot of stuff,
like I talked about like lamellot ball finishing at thirteen
points instead of fifteen, sinking me the end of the
you know, the other day, that type of thing. But
I bring this up because a play that I I
you know, I always build out multiple versions of this thing.

(28:04):
I'll if it needs to be plus one hundred I'll
throw in a bunch of legs to get it up
to like plus two hundred that I like, and then
I'll whittle it down from there and one of the
legs that I came very close to leaving in and
maybe he'll get there by the end. But it doesn't
look good. Jordan Clarkson ten plus points for the Jazz.
I figured, you know, there's no market in. They're dealing
with a lot of injuries. They're shorthanded. Like, I mean,

(28:27):
how does he not get to ten points? He right now,
late in the third quarter has zero points on zero
for twelve shooting, And I can't even begin to imagine
how beside myself I would be right now if I
had included him in my builder today, like I might

(28:47):
have to resign from the show. I would just be done.
It's no more gambling. I'm out. I'm out. Drop the mic.
It's been real, everybody, all right, AJ Show's here with
us again talking hockey and well after celebrating Alex Ovechkin,
who you know, continued to look into some of his
stats during the break. By the way, thirty goals this

(29:09):
year in forty two games, which is the fewest he
has had in a season, with the exception of the
twenty four and forty five games during the COVID year.
Just an unreal career this dude obviously has had, and
you would have to have to become the NHL's all
time leading goalscorer. You know what we should too look into.

(29:29):
I bet he won't catch Gretzky when you include playoff goals,
So that'll be a feather in Gretzky's case.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
He's also got like over thirty empty netters as well.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Well, you know, look, those things happen. I'm not going
to hold that against him.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Well, I'm just saying, if you're just looking for a
little yeah, butts, you're.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Gretzky probably had a bunch of empty netters.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
I'm sure the games is probably a lot in Gretzky's
favor as well, if having you ask.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Yeah, I'm gonna look that up. I'm going to continue
to dive into this completely meaningless research that I'm curious about.
Senators and Jets tomorrow. Let's or pardon me, Jets and
Predators tomorrow. Let's let's take a look at this one here,
aj because this game is at Nashville, it's you know,
Jets are marginally favored right around minus one twenty slightly

(30:16):
plus money on the Preds. Early on. People are investing
in in the road team Winnipeg. Is is that the
right side? Or do you like the home team at
plus money?

Speaker 5 (30:28):
No, I'm I'm I'm on the Jets. They have just
been so unbelievably good overall this season. You know, I
will say the one kind of caveat here is the schedule.
So you know, the Jets played today and they did

(30:51):
for one win, So you know, they are on the
second of a back to back. They're going into Nashville,
and I might actually be talking myself out of taking
the Jets here just the more I think about it,
It's going to be Eric Commery in the nuts instead
of Connor Hellybuck. That hasn't really gone great for them
this season. So yeah, you know what, I talked myself

(31:14):
out of it. Let's go with the Predators on the
money line, like you said, you know, just about even money. Yeah,
you know, I wasn't thinking about the goaltending change. The
second night of a back to back. A lot of
teams have historically struggled at Bridgetone there. The Predators even

(31:35):
this year when they're not you know, they haven't been
as good as some previous seasons, they're still pretty good
within the confines of Bridge Soon Arena there. So I
think we'll take the Preds on the money line here.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
Aja, was there some big injury news in this Minnesota
Utah game tomorrow night that I just have not seen yet?
Because this line steamed quite a bit. Utah opened up
minus one twenty favorite at home. This is up to
like minus one fifty five on some books now. And
you can get the wild who are one of the
best road teams in all of hockey, at a nice plus
one thirty price if you think they can pull off
the win on the road tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (32:10):
Yeah, I mean you do have the Joel Erson Eck
injury for them that's going to stretch the depth down
the middle. I wouldn't have thought necessarily that it would
have tipped tipped the line quite as much as it
seems to have done here. But you know, second line

(32:31):
center you do still have. You know, they don't have
Hartman right now. He's still serving that that suspension as well.
Caprice Off is still out of the lineup. But I'm
with you. I think the opportunity is there, you know,
to really utilize utilize the wild in this matchup. I

(32:52):
would take them at plus one thirty. I think that's
really good, really good value for a team that, as
you said, has been great on the road all season long.
Sure they're thinned down the middle with with Hartman and
Eric Sinek both on the shelf, but still a ton
of talent, Still a lot of youngsters that have stepped
up at bolding Marco Rossi, and their goaltending has been solid,

(33:15):
whether it's Gustaf or Flurry, They've gotten pretty good goaltending
all season long. So I'm not as worried as it
seems like some of the some of the betters are here.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Is the Four Nations sort of hangover for lack of
a better word, over or you know, we spent some
time talking about this coming out of the tournament and
the you know first two three games after for a
lot of teams for the Stars that were obviously part
of that four team round robin and really gave the roll,
treated it like the Olympics, like the Stanley Cup Final,

(33:50):
all of that stuff. And you know those teams, those
those teams that had two three players star players participating
in the tourney. Coming out of the break where it
was bad, they were, you know, down and out. Guys
were kind of throttling down, trying to kind of you know,
regain their form all of that, and unfortunately at the
expensive of their you know, teams that pay them their

(34:10):
hefty salaries. Is all of that over though at this point,
you know, are we kind of back to normal now
as we approach March?

Speaker 5 (34:19):
Yeah? I think so. And you know, you kind of
mentioned the wonky schedule that the NHL has been given us.
You know, several of those teams came back and hit
the ground running with back to backs right away, so
that's going to factor into that even more. Yeah, even
for the guys who you know, had two weeks off
to rest, you know, now you got to get your

(34:39):
legs back under you and play back to back right away.
It was kind of weird scheduling.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
I agree.

Speaker 5 (34:44):
But I think at this point, you know, heading into
two Thursday's game, everybody's played again, you know, two maybe
three even three games in some cases, and I would
imagine that most of that, you know, any rust or
any fatigue has kind of gone out the door at
this point.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
Throw one more at you aj before you, before you
gotta go. How about your Penguins tomorrow night, four game
losing streak. Do they snap it against the hated Flyers?
This game is basically a pick them.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Well, oh god, if they hadn't just gotten embarrassed by
the Flyers on Tuesday, I would probably be inclined to
take this one. But that game was tough to watch.
The goaltending for Pittsburgh hasn't been great, you know, I
if you want to go pick them, I think the

(35:35):
Flyers are probably the safer, better choice. I obviously can't
do that, but you know, so I'll target the over
even sitting at six and a half, like that's a
big hill to climb. But the Penguins have been really
poor defensively. But then at the end of the day,

(35:55):
you know, they've still got Crosby and Milkin and the
Tang and Carlson. You know, Isaac can put up points
with Carver. Kal's been having a great season. So you know,
like a four to three game, five to three game
in favor of probably the Flyers, I think it's certainly
well within play. So if I'm picking a result on

(36:16):
this one, I probably would go Flyers, but for betting
purposes personally at least, I'll take the over, especially with
it coming in on the latest I'm seeing here plus
one ten, So getting positive money by taking over.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
I really like that. Aj, We've got less than thirty seconds.
Favorite play across the board tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (36:36):
I think the Jets were going to be my play here,
but as I said, talk myself into it. I'll take
the Predators on the money line for my favorite play tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
AJ Sholz once again editor over at rote A Wire.
He is on Twitter. AJ Sholz and the number twenty four.
Always appreciate when you hop on man again. Happy belated.
We'll chat soon.

Speaker 5 (36:59):
Yeah, thanks so much, guys. Have a great rest of
the evening you as well.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
We'll come on back with bankroll repairs for Thursday.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Now back to the Gambler with Adam Kaufman on six
eighty WRKL, streaming live on the iHeartRadio app or tell
your smart speaker to play WRKO on iHeartRadio. It's time
for your bankroll repair powered by today's collision.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
So bankroll repairs. Currently, mine at minus one oh four
has two legs and the other two are certainly on
their way to Houston Rockets just needed to win. Sacramento Kings,
same story. Both were up by double figures. Hopefully they continue. Ironically,
the sweatiest leg was Oklahoma City and nearly freaking minus

(37:49):
fifteen hundred trailed that. They were down by like twenty
five points or some crazy number against the Nets, but
they came back and won in the fourth quarter, So
thank goodness for that. Dan's br plu one to oh three.
We need some help from wake Forest, don't count on it. Well,
they're down by nine with what three and a half left? Yeah,
then I mean that accurate. Yeah, but they've been down

(38:11):
pretty much ten the entire game and just cannot claw
back in here. They're horrible at shooting three, so they're
not built to come from behind, and as an eight
point favorite, that's just just gross tonight. So yeah, we
will hope for the best and keep an eye on
show plays as well. I do want to mention, by
the way, Harrison Barnes has zero rebounds, Devin Fasel zero
three pointers. We may have chosen wrong on that one

(38:35):
despite the juice. All right, b ours for tomorrow, what
do you got?

Speaker 3 (38:37):
All right? Heading back to college basketball for tomorrow? Three
legs again. Let's go tousand, South Dakota State and Saint
Thomas The Tommy's all three on the money line plus
one twenty seven. Let's go for it tomorrow. I'm bet MGM.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
I'm gonna give you a three legger on DraftKings plus
one o eight. These are all home favorites. One in
the NBA, two in college the NBA leg much as
I hate backing them, the Dallas Mavericks, it's because the
Charlotte Hornets are a poor excuse for an NBA team
right now. The two in college Tennessee Tech and the
College of Charleston. Yeah, you heard me right, We're getting

(39:14):
weird on Thursday, folks. We only got two ranked teams
in action, and it's a big slate. College of Charleston,
Tennessee Tech, Dallas Mavericks plus one. Await NBA talk soon.

Speaker 1 (39:24):
