Speaker 1 (00:01):
W r k O presens Boston's only nightly sports betting show,
The Gambler with Adam Kaufman.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Now from nine till midnight.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Your home to talk spreads, promps, totals and more. Hey, Doc,
and what's the harm of bringing back a little info
in the future.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Maybe we could place a.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Couple of beats. The Gambler starts now.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
All I have to do is bet on the winner
and I'll never lose.

Speaker 4 (00:26):
Here's Adam Kaufman.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
What's up. Welcome to Thursday. This is The Gambler with
Adam Kaufman. I am Adam. Dan Watkins is here, Brian,
But on the board, Fellas, how we.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
Doing I'm doing all right, We're doing well.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Just okay, just okay, personal betting or show betting.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Show betting. Mine hasn't even started yet, so personal okay.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Well, here's what we're sweating right now. As I pull
up our Action Network page. The game ak is the handle.
We need one more assist out of Franz Wagner to
get him to four, which is the Chowdery's choice. Sam
chowtry FTN Network play the day, hoping to bring that home.
He was a two and a half time three at
the end of three, and sure enough, let's see if
he can pace and get himself to the four that

(01:09):
we need. It was pretty juice as well. It just
about a unit and a half investment for us. We'd
really like to get that one home. Your bank roll
repair is right now trending green. I know there's ways
to go in a couple of those games, but plus
one twenty seven, if we can bring that home for me,

(01:30):
plus one oh eight is what I am after. And
one game looks like it's on the cusp of going final.
The other two are sweaty right now, but long long
way to go in both of those. My straight play
the Denver Nuggets minus two and a half and wouldn't
you know at halftime up by three at Milwaukee, so
play it even in the second half Denver and we

(01:51):
can cash that one, which would be nice. As you mentioned,
your straight play, which is U see Santa Barbara to
cover six and a half doesn't get started for about
an hour. Matt lamarka fantasy life his play New Orleans
Pelicans plus seven and a half. We did get a
little CLV, little closing line value on that numbers. It
moved to seven and some spots even inside of seven

(02:12):
that game will tip off coming up in just a
little bit here as well a couple of minutes. So
that's all the stuff we're chasing. And oh, by the way,
I think we'll probably add some plays. We're gonna do
another State your Case. We did it in the opening
segment yesterday. We're gonna do it in the final segment
of this hour tonight. The reason for that is, guys,

(02:32):
there's a lot to choose from. Doesn't mean there's necessarily
a lot that you love. That's what we'll explore as
you present Dan your favorite play. Brian does the same,
soul Lie, and whereas we If you're new to this
because we just started doing it yesterday, the way this
works is, you know, if we're building out a parlay
or just like, hey, I really like this, I want

(02:54):
to make a show official. Fine, there's no debate, there's
no conversation about it. Believe in each other, believe in
the plays. And yesterday there were some that went for us,
some that went against us. But the group plays, those
are more conversation topics. And so for the State your Case,
Dan will give us a play he really likes. He
gave us a winner yesterday. Brian will do so as well,

(03:14):
and so will I. Unfortunately mine did not hit yesterday.
The other group play that we added as a quorum,
if you will, we got boned on late unfortunately, and
that was Oregon State to cover the three and a half.
It was a lot like the Knicks game. Honestly tight
or spread, but a lot like that game where it's
like you feel good about it all game long and covering, covering,

(03:37):
and then kind of fall apart at the end. The
Knicks managed to win. Didn't help us. Help me personally
because I was part of a money line parlay, but
Oregon State didn't do anything for us. Lost the game,
which was unfortunate. What was really annoying too, if you
were watching it, I don't know if you guys were,
you may have been in bed by this point, but
they lost by two and had the ball final possession

(04:01):
opportunity to tie couple of seconds left. I don't know
the names of these guys, was watching it on mute,
but one guy takes it in missus. A layup guy
tries to follow it hits the shot half second after
the buzzer, so that would have forced overtime. Given us
the opportunity to cash that four point and would have

(04:23):
been really nice. But the reason we're saving it tonight
for the final segment is because Timberwolves Lakers get started.
In about an hour and a half. You have two
hockey games both after ten Canucks Ducks, Blackhawks and Golden Knights.
And college hoops, Fellas, there are ten games starting at
ten o'clock eastern on You see Irvine, Fullerton, Pepperdine and Portland, Montana,

(04:48):
Sacramento State, Cal Poly, UCSB, as we know, Cal Baptist, Seattle, Cal, Bakersfield, LBSU,
Long Beach State, Montana State, Portland State, you see San
dieg and Cal State Northridge, Saint Mary's LMU, and then
bleeding into Friday, you see Riverside and Hawaii. Yeah, we

(05:10):
got ourselves a slate tonight, fellas.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
Yeah, full college basketball slate today. I mean, just all
over the place, a lot of these schools that nobody
really knows or could really tell you anything about. But
we will find some best bets, I'm sure, as we
always do.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
And we're gonna hope that Tom Casally CBS Sports Line
knows everything there is to know about all of these
teams in all of these games, because he's going to
join us coming up in about ten minutes. Hang out
for a couple of segments. Who knows, Guys, Like I said,
we could be giving out plays and plays and plays
and plays and plays because maybe we'll build out a
people's parlay with Tom. Maybe we'll get his favorite play.
We'll give you something that we like independent of the

(05:49):
state your case segment. I don't know. I haven't talked
to these guys. I don't know, if Dan, if there's
anything across those thirteen options that I listed that you're passionate,
be it a player, prop, a side, a total, all
of that stuff. And I'm still diving through some stuff
as well, including kind of the internal debate. We brought

(06:11):
this up yesterday of nos Reed, Lamarca loves himself all
things nas reed. He is part of that Timberwolves game tonight,
where by the way, Anthony Edwards is a true game
time decision right now. So if we were to invest,
we'd certainly be beating the number because props on him
are going to move if it turns out that Anthony

(06:33):
Edwards gets ruled out. Whether you're looking at points the
narrative that we were talking about, obviously, was the rebounds
attacking the size or lack thereof for the Lakers. I
know Joe Dealera Action Network was posting about how Lebron
James rebounds plus assists numbers have been down since Luka
Doncicz joined. I don't know if you guys saw this,

(06:53):
but he had a nice little write up just to
give you some of it. Here. Ra dried up alongside
Luca under this line fifteen and a half in four
or five since Doncic came aboard. The only one over
was against a weak Hornets team. Lebron's rebound chances a
bit skewed after nineteen against an undersized Mavericks team, but

(07:14):
even then stayed under the mark because of a lack
of assists, averaging twelve point two rebound chances fourteen point
four potential assists twenty six point six total. You typically
convert about fifty percent of those, so that obviously will
take you to thirteen fourteen. Again the line fifteen and
a half, and you know goes on from there. But

(07:34):
Joe saying not only does he like the under fifteen
and a half, he'd played down to fourteen and a half,
where it has moved to some places. Now it's pretty
juiced at fifteen and a half at various books. So
there's a lot of stuff to consider tonight and read.
He is still sitting below ten. We were talking nine
and a half in terms of the rebounds last night.
Have to see exactly where all the juice and everything

(07:57):
is right now. But we do have options siderations that
we could add for that basketball game or you know,
some of the late night games. I can tell you
our friends over at SB or SGPN, the sports gambling
podcast network love almost universally Portland minus three and a
half against Pepperdine at home, Seattle at home to cover

(08:19):
against col Baptist. That line's moved a bit, and one
that I was looking at I'm still not sure, but
I might be tipping my hand LMU Loyala Marrimount plus
thirteen and a half at home against Saint Mary's. A
lot of people in terms of the public want to
back the Gaels. You look at the splits and it's
like eighty twenty divide investing in Saint Mary's. So this one,

(08:42):
you know you talked last night Dan about you know,
the whole zigging versus zagging. Well you're making me nervous.
The confirmation bias. Well, it is everybody out well, I
assure you, publicly speaking, the public is not on LMU
tonight very much invested in number number twenty three St. Mary's.
So there are some spots that we could consider.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
Yeah, well, I mean, I'm sure that's because Saint Mary's
has just been a freight train and conference play here,
they were just pretty much just stuffing everyone in a locker,
and that includes like the likes of Gonzaga. They beat
San Francisco at home by twenty points, and San Francisco
is a really good team. They didn't lost them on
the road, only by a point though, that's their one
blemish in conference play here. And they do have oregons

(09:24):
or they Yeah, they have Oregon State coming up this weekend,
so just two games left in the regular season for
the Gaels. I don't know if i'd want to really
go against them. I mean, tonight's been a weird night.
I've been hooked twice already, so I don't know the field.
The vibes are off, let's just put it that way.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
You know what, no better time like the president to
fix the vibes. Dan, Yeah, yeah, maybe the vibes are
waiting for tomorrow. Who knows they could be you never
do know. But look, last night we were tracking for
a not so great night, and then some stuff was
going for us for a little while and looked like
we were gonna go up a unit and a half
and then again like Oregon State ultimately was you know,

(10:00):
sort of the swing play, and I think we dropped.
We went like five and five across the plays and
dropped half a unit. So we drank the juice. But
wasn't a bad day. I think it was worthy of
the the experiment. Just look, I don't need to explain
this to you or to anybody out there listening. Some
days are better than others.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Oh that's for sure, that is absolutely for sure.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
And like I'm just like, I'm just in a bad
mood right now because I just stupidly, I stupidly bet
the Bruins tonight, Like did you I did?

Speaker 4 (10:28):
I did?

Speaker 2 (10:28):
I bet them live a lot of different ways or
just no, just just to win.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
But I'm still mad. So I did the swiming thing
again that we'd had the other day, right because just
the Bruins a ton of shots with Knackaboy out of
the lineup, and they come out tonight and they're out
shooting New York sixteen to one. Just start the game goodness,
and it's like okay. So I'm like, okay, they're actually
like playing tonight, like they want to save their season.

(10:51):
These guys don't want to get dealt. Some of them
trade deadline coming up. This is their last push. They're
gonna snap this losing streak. So I live bet them.
You know, it was at a pick at that point.
I run to the bathroom, come back in. They're losing
and they're down one nothing. Swimon has like two saves
and yeah, he's a long way away from getting Gett
into twenty six saves tonight. He's only a thirteen right

(11:12):
now as we're a pitch approaching the midway point of
the third period. But the brilliant they're just they are
a dead team skating right now. It's just it's pathetic.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
I know that internally they care so much about making
the playoffs, and it's it's more of a monetary in
the game.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
Yeah, they want the playoff gate because in the game
out you break it. Yeah, you profit as long as
you have one playoff series.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Basically, right, so there's that on top of just reputation,
like just being able to say we've been in the playoffs,
you know, ex consecutive years or x number out of
whatever since Don Sweeney took over, you know, all these
different things they like to be able to. It's it's
like the old Red Sox more days in first place.
It's that kind of thing. Yeah. The best thing for

(11:53):
them though, whether or not they agree, and they probably don't,
the best thing for them would just be too miss
the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
Oh definitely. And I don't even like sell off some
pieces here in the next week, Brad marsh and Morgan Geeky,
maybe Brandon Carlo, Trent Frederick. Like, there are so many
guys on this team that they they could move and
really shake things up. And they just desperately need to
shake up this core because it's like they they've they've
gotten everything they possibly could out of this core and

(12:22):
it's just.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
It's just not enough.

Speaker 5 (12:23):
And then some yeah, and year in and year out,
it's just it's just not enough. So they need to
get some different kind of players in here, and you know,
maybe they make a real blockbuster trade over the summer
and trade one of these really big pieces. Who knows,
but I would personally, I want I want to see
them trade Brad Marshan. I would like to see Marshan
go somewhere where you can contend and be on like

(12:45):
the second or third line and and be that complimentary piece,
uh and pursue a cup that way, and hopefully the
Bruins got like a first round pick for him.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Wanted to go full Ray Bork is what you're saying.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Sure, why not.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
I mean, he's already got a ring. Obviously he does
not the same thing, but yeah, you know, you want
to see guys go like that, go out on top
and not not with a whimper. But at the same time,
I am, especially in this era of sports that we
are in, free agency really drastically impacted things, and then
obviously just trades in general. But it is so rare

(13:18):
as we know that a player plays his entire career
with one team. When you have that kind of longevity,
I mean, yeah, you know, crappy players play for you know,
one team for a brief couple few years and then
they're out of the league doing whatever it is, and
you know, one organization they weren't good enough, so no
one else gives them a shot. But when you see
that caliber of player who can play ten, fifteen, twenty years,

(13:41):
depending on the sport that you're talking about, it just it's,
you know, usually you see like the Paul Pierce thing
for or right Tom Brady thing. Not that I ever
thought he would actually leave, but you know, it's it's
the vast majority, you know, ninety percent of your career
one place, and then you know a couple other teams
at the tail end that nobody remembers, like you know,

(14:01):
Patrick Ewing playing for Orlando or Seattle, that kind of thing.
Like it's, you know, like, who's gonna remember in fifteen
years that Paul Pierce was a wizard? You know, it's
just this, this stuff happens. So it would be nice
from that standpoint if Marshann never left, but I know
he wouldn't choose to. It's just a function of obviously
what the team decides to do. But uh yeah, Well

(14:24):
we'll tackle a little bit more with the Bruins with
Nick Martin a little bit later on from Daily Face
Off New York Post. Han't had Nick on a while,
looking forward to.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
It, locks Leans and everything in between.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
It says here we should work in teams. It wants
to be my spawner.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
I don't think you should be doing too much gambling tonight,
Alan gambling, because anything about gambling, it's not gambling when
you know you're gonna win.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Think Now, back to Boston's only nightly betting show, The
Gambler with Adam Kaufman. Listen on the iHeartRadio app or
your he's a smart speaker.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
We're back The Gambler with Adam Kaufman. Nuggets are dead
nine point loss in Milwaukee, so so much for that.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Another triple double for Joker, Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Mean, he's unbelievable and Giannis. I just want to see
where this tracked because Doc Rivers said before the game
that he was still on the mid limit the previous
two games coming into this one. He played thirty two
minutes and people wondered if it was going to go
up a little bit. He played thirty two right on
the nose, so apparently that is the limit, although he

(15:38):
was pretty damn close to a triple double as well.
Twenty eight points, nineteen rebounds, seven assists for Giannis. Wow,
you know what's funny? So I did my FanDuel no
Sweat bet, which with a miracle late three pointer cash
from uh Damian Lillard got home, which is wonderful. But

(15:59):
I in building this thing out, I just didn't know,
Like when these two guys who have such size, Joker
and Giannis are going head to head, I just I
don't know how to play the rebounds right Like it's
you know, am I even comfortable with an alternate of
like six plus eight plus? You know, is one going
to dominate the other? That type of thing? And boy

(16:20):
talk about meaningless tonight. You a Joker fourteen rebounds, Porter
and Brown each had ten rebounds. On the other side,
Kuzma nine the nineteen for Gianni's has meant as mentioned
just like I mean, I guess just misshots all over
the place, but uh trust the bigs. But yeah, you
had more than one hundred and ten rebounds between the

(16:42):
two teams in this game. That's a crazy number. That's insane,
high scoring game. Bucks take care of business. One game
left less than twenty minutes from now Timberwolves and Lakers.
Much more NBA on the way with Jonathan von Tolbel
from Vsen, But right now let's fallocus on hockey. Nick
Martin has not been on with US in way too long.

(17:04):
We've missed him. He's on Twitter at Nick m Underscore Hockey.
Last time that he was with us, he had a
different affiliation. Now he is all about the New York
Post and Daily Face Off. Some work with Leaf's nation,
Flames Nation. You know, if there's a nation, he's part
of it. North of the border there, Nick, how are you?

Speaker 3 (17:24):
I'm doing good? Yeah? I like that intro. The other
one is the Canucks Army, which is so good from
there right now, it's been a good night. That might
picks on the Canucks game I'm looking to.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
We were talking about the Bruins just a little while ago.
Excuse me, lost two to one at home to the Islanders.
This is now five straight losses for the Bees, who
are are just coming apart at the seams. With the
trade deadline right around the corner of the conversation as
to whether Brad Marsha and the captain and career brewin
to date could possibly be dealt some of the younger

(18:00):
players that they could get something for just a function
of whether or not they'll admit defeat and pack it in.
As it stands right now, NHL standings looking specifically at
the Wild guard. The Bruins are in the five spot
in the Eastern Conference sixty two points. Technically, that's tied
with both Ottawa and New York the Rangers, and all
of those teams sitting four points behind both Troit and Columbus.

(18:23):
The real issue, though, is games in hand. Boston's played
sixty games, every other one of those teams I mentioned
fifty eight or fifty nine. So all long winded way
of asking, is the season over for the Bruins.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Yeah, I mean, honestly, I think it is, and I
hate to be dis excited about it on a Boston show,
but I did bet them in miss the playoffs at
plus one ninety five, and at this point I'm pretty
keen to cash that one, because yeah, I think they're
in really tough. I feel like the better decision at
this point would be to sail off the assets that

(19:02):
they can. I think Trent Frederick in particular. I know
he's a guy that's easy to love as a hometown
pun but he's also the kind of player that gets
overvalued this time of year, and I feel like he's
a guy that if you could get something significant for him,
I would do that because I feel like They're in
pretty tough and what are you really going to expect

(19:23):
if they were to pull off the miracle run into
that wild card spot. Yeah, I feel like it's probably
time to just cut your losses here after that class
versus Toronto and not the worst loss versus Islanders tonight,
but I mean they needed those two points.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Nick alex Alvachkin twelve goals away from passing breaking Wayne
Grutzy's record as the with the most goals of all
time in NHL history. Four shots for OV tonight. He
does go over on his shots. Prop He's just been
firing at will here as he seems hell bent on
trying to break this this season. Are you looking at
his shots and like anytime goals pretty much every single

(20:04):
night here from here on out with him.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Yeah, I've played it here and there. I still think
kind of a little masterup dependent and so on. It'll
be interesting to see if he keeps this kind of
pace up and if maybe the numbers start to get
tanked a little bit as the public really kind of
gets behind this chase. Obviously, it's really fun, you know,
to bet on him scoring goals, and he was entering

(20:28):
tonight's game second in goals scored per game this season,
So it's not like if you're getting plus one third
or whatever, it's you know, the worst. But I do
think it's possible maybe we'll get to a bit of
a point here where he flows down the little. I mean,
this has been, by pace, one of the best seasons
of goal scoring in his career on a per game basis,

(20:50):
and maybe the numbers get a little inflated as everyone
kind of wants to back it. I really hope you
can say hot. I honestly kind of think he's going
to slow down a little. He's just fishing off chances
that's such a high rate, and the team's been in
so many matchups where they're able to kind of help
let him really just pour away and kind of try
to cheat to get him offense. So with that said,

(21:11):
I do think some of the takes about kind of
how much the team is cheated to get him offense
have been a little unfair because he's done a really
good job moving the puck when needed, and if you
look at a Cat's power play this year, this is
the best power play season they've had when he's been
in the lineup in several years going back to the
Oshi backs from years they weren't their power player in

(21:31):
this effective so they have done a pretty good job
of obviously trying to get him opportunities, but also kind
of weaponizing the fact that his shot is this good
and getting other looks from guys like Chickering and Carlson
because I mean, yeah, you look, they're second in the league.
I think it's hard to say that the chase has
become just a joke where they're clearly just trying to

(21:53):
help him. I think they're still first and foremost doing
a good job of trying to win games.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
I asked this of A. J. Schulz from rote A
Wire when he was on with us last night. Are
we now fully at the point where the four Nations
face off is in the rear view and the impact
on star players who participated is no longer a factor
on their real teams, and that we don't have to
take that in consideration with our handicaps.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
I don't know. I don't know about that. I feel
like some of these guys kind of still seem a
little out of gas. McDavid hasn't been at his best.
He's a little better tonight, but it could be a
thing where maybe those guys are a little more worn
out to like even a little further on down the line,
so we'll see. I did think it was kind of
an interesting take on how much these guys really must

(22:44):
get up get beat up during the playoffs and how
many injuries they are playing through. When you look at
how many guys played in their final games of that
tournament and then went back to their teams and were
unable to play, I thought that was kind of interesting
because I feel like it probably indicates just how much
playing during the playoffs, but you know, after those kinds
of games, they weren't willing to play regular season games

(23:04):
with those injuries. But yeah, I mean I think there's
definitely some teams that are still fighting through that a
little bit.

Speaker 5 (23:14):
Yeah, you mentioned McDavid there. I want to kind of
talk about Edmonton, who is still right now the odds
on favor to win the Stanley Cup. I think you
can still get them at fandel right now at plus
six point fifty. Carolina is right behind them, but Edmonton
loses tonight to Florida in that Cup final rematch from
a year ago four to three. Edmonton's lost five in
a row here they've given up at least four goals

(23:34):
in all five of those games. I mean, the defense
is kind of raveling. I mean, should they be hitting
the panic button in Edmonton or not just yet?

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Yeah, I mean it's hard to say. I think they're
definitely going to feel more inclined to at least try
and see what they can do from a goaltending perspective.
Ahead of the deadline here, I think they were probably
already in a bit of a borderline decision in terms
of they wanted to stick it out with Skinner and
now like they'd probably really like to bring someone in,
whereas they probably would have liked to try and out

(24:05):
upgrade their their roster elsewhere. I don't know if i'd
say it's you know, complete panic button time yet. They're
nothing good lately, but we did see obviously, you know,
some comparably bad runs earlier this year and last season.
Obviously it's a really bad start, so I don't think
i'd argue they're a remotely good debt. As the odds

(24:27):
on favorite, I don't know if we'll see that number
come down just because of how many people were pouring
on that in the summer, But I don't think it's
it's panic time, and I still think that they're best. Still,
I'm not going to have as many flaws as pretty
much all the other true contenders.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
We're hanging out with Nick Martin again daily face off
New York Post. We've got three games some very light
slate in the NHL tomorrow, three games to touch on,
and we will do so with Nick when we come back.
We're back with Nick Martin daily based off New York
Post Talk and hockey of course, a busy, busy day

(25:04):
in the NHL today, and still plenty of games that
are in progress, including one that we are actively sweating.
We need three goals out of the Ducks down one nothing,
five minutes to go opening period, an eternity left in
this game, but so far just not able to convert
any of their many chances. So that is a group play,

(25:25):
a state your case play that we added earlier. If
you were listening to the podcast right now, sorry or
you're welcome to back, whether or not in cash is,
But if you were with us live, then that was
a live play that we added for you here on
the air. All our plays as always posted on the
Gambler with ak handle on the Action Network app. But

(25:47):
as mentioned, three games to close out your February in
the NHL, that's it. And then all of a sudden,
come Saturday, we're in March. Don't forget short months and Rangers.
Let's start with this one here, Nick, where you have
the road Leafs understandably a slight favorite right around minus

(26:08):
one twenty. This is, you know, on on one side
home team, a Rangers team that is sort of in
desperation mode about a quarter of the season left, four
points out of a playoff spot, wild card standings, winners
of two straight and a Leafs team that is playing
well three straight wins. But there's just you know, talking
to a number of Leafs fans that I know they're in,

(26:30):
you know, Eastern Canada, the just everyone just waits for
the the sky to fall or the Florida bottom out,
like everything is you know, it's like being a Red
Sox fan pre two thousand and four. How is this
going to end badly for Toronto? So are they saving
that for the playoffs and they're just gonna keep going
strong here in the regular season? How do you look

(26:51):
at this game?

Speaker 3 (26:53):
Yeah, I mean even the back and forth and the
regular seasons kind of nauseating because it's just there's no
keel at all. And this season they have been fairly consistent,
I mean pretty consistently good. But if you go right
back to the start of kind of a new year,
they've gone like four wins, three losses, four wins, three
love whatever it is, it's been kind of streaky. So

(27:16):
it just feels like every other time, or when they
get in one of those bad runs, you just don't
hit the end of all their problems. And you know,
the fans and media hate every guy and they want
this guy and that guy to come in. But I
do think overall that they are a pretty legitimate, you know, contender.
It's always kind of scary to say that, you know,
when you're talking without a team that's failed seventy years

(27:38):
in a row. But I mean, I'm a mastive Washington
Capitals fan, and I heard all the exact same stuff
the year after year that they'd never do it, that
they just had, you know, kind of the troker DNA
and blah blah blah, And I really did always believe
that they were kind of a bounce away. So I
don't know if that means it has to be the

(27:58):
same for Toronto. But I do think had been right
there in a lot of those series, and I'm not
really a believer that the guys they have just can't
perform in the playoffs. I think they have been quite
close in anything. I think they just seem a little
more depth scoring. That's kind of where they lost, even
though people kind of seem to come up with other
arguments to look at their series hurst the Burns, all

(28:18):
the other runs, feels like they lose every big game
to one, right, So I think in a year where
the East looks a little more open, they have a
somewhat legitimate chance. I don't know if I think they're
much better than in previous years, but I also kind
of think that in some of those previous years they
were they were closer than people thought.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
So, Nick, I see the Colorado Avalanche at home tomorrow,
and anytime Colorado's at home, I'm looking at Nathan McKinnon
props here. We haven't anytime goals sitting out there at
plus one twenty right now, that's the only line that's up.
But just he has tortured the Minnesota Wild throughout his career,
especially lately. Seven goals in his last four games against them,
eleven points in those last four games he had. I

(29:01):
think he has like sixty three points in forty nine
games or something against Minnesota in his career shots against them.
He is at least five shots in six straight home
games against them, dating back to like twenty twenty one.
McKinnon was awesome last night against New Jersey. I mean,
do we think this is the start of just of
a tear He's going to go on on a home
stand here?

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Yeah? I mean I could definitely see it. And the
fit with Matus has been unreal. I really have always
loved Machus. I think teams that Colorado made a really
submert bed here. I completely didn't think it was a
smart bet because Randon would be bad. I was not
going to try to say I had that foresight, and
probably we will see Randon gick going. But I do

(29:44):
think that Nachus, which is always a better player than
he got credit for, I don't think, you know, he's
getting ploticalarly on Carolina. At the time of his trade,
he was playing with Eric Robinson and Kopkinemi, so you
know he was carrying that line to pretty good considering
the talented who is with and now you put them
with McKinnon and they just look completely unstoppable. They're both

(30:07):
so good off the rush, books so good at gaining
the zone, and they've really worked well together. So yeah,
I do think could be a good time to keep
back to McKinnon. And I think, especially given that he's
really has good temistry of natures in that line just
seems to spend the whole game attacking King Stars.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Is I guess, your middle ground. Whereas the Avalanche are
the heaviest favorite in the day and the Leafs are
the shortest favorite, that gives you the Stars, who are
right around minus one forty and so far public is
certainly investing in the home team and even getting some
representation on the puck line as well against this King squad.
Here Stars coming into this one you know, awful loss

(30:48):
but hot over their last ten seven too, and one
still haven't hit twenty losses as of yet, at least
in regulation. They're second in the Central in the Western Conference,
not going to you know, Winnipeg that that ship has sailed,
but even still having a great year playoff bound. The
Kings meanwhile, also looking like they will make the playoffs,
but still have some work to do. Sitting third in

(31:10):
the Pacific and also playing well as of late, how
do you look at this one?

Speaker 3 (31:16):
Yeah, I mean I think I'm fairly neutral in terms
of the actual prices, but I will make the case
for the Kings because I kind of have thought that
lately people haven't been doing that enough. I am the
Kings right now. I think we've kind of heard all
the same stuff the year after year, where you know,
they've always been this really good defensive juggernaut that they

(31:37):
keep burning into the oilers. They don't quite enough offensive
outside or power play to get by them. But I
don't really think, you know, too many people are giving
much credit to the idea that this Kings team does
seem a little better than a year's past. I think
we've got a little more offensive outside. They're not playing
as conservative of a style overall, though, they're still really

(31:58):
good defensively, and I think they've got some guys that
you could continue to keep having big second half. Spyfield
has been really good lately, Kevin Tyallo looks excellent. I
think there's actually a lot to like about the Kings.
Another Kemper back, they're giving them really strong goaltending so
these teams did just meet. I think it was a

(32:20):
five to four shootout win for the Kings. Pretty close game,
but if anything, I'd probably lean towards them right now. Obviously,
the Heiskin is lost hurts the Stars outside a ton
So you know, I just don't know that there's too
much ground between these teams right now.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
So what is your absolute favorite play for tomorrow as
as the lines currently stand.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
I'm gonna go I'll say thes puck line as the
Lions currently stand. I think that's just a tough spot
for Minnesota traveling out of Utah tonight. Haven't been overally
good of late. You know, I've been pretty high on
Minnesota this year as well, but they're in your situation.
It's just been a design. Their underlying results of really

(33:03):
tanked over the last two months. And you know, they
haves they just look excellent. And then to make another
and right now, the puck line is at plus one
twenty I'm looking I think is the best number available
or at least some the regulated books. But so I
think that's a pretty good bet. And the other thing
with the abs going on that you know, it is

(33:23):
great to see the truth team comes back the other
night has a solid game. Their record with and without
him the last two years, it's been insane how much
of a difference he has made. I don't have it
right in front of me, but there one percentage is
pretty much night and day with him in the lineup,
and I feel like it is kind of easy to
see why they're a pretty one dimensional team without him.

(33:44):
They're really only get the one line you're super worried about,
but he's good enough to get that second line going.
So yeah, I think there's a lot to like about
the Abs right now, and I think it'll be a
really tough spot for the wild traveling in their night
to the back to.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
Back puck line. Obviously at slight plus money, would you
consider the juice with the sixty minute line, which is
pretty juice it's right around minus one fifty, or would
you rather the multiple goal win?

Speaker 3 (34:14):
Yeah. Whenever I get asked that, I always say the
best way to attack kind of designing, which one you
prefer is typically they're going to have pretty close eventual values.
Is just compare what your sports book is, because sometimes
they won't actually be a one to one comparison, if
you know what I mean. That you might be on
a sportsbook where they have the puck line at plus

(34:35):
one twenty, they have regulation win minus one fifty or
whatever it is, but they won't always be exactly correlated.
So my kind of best answer to that would be
looking at what's sport propresing and comparing the two prices
they have to kind of in a bunch of other
consensus books. If you get what I'm saying. Sure, so

(34:55):
generally they're pretty even, like I don't really have afford
way it I can get what like regardless, you're going
to get sometimes where you win on it, win and
get the extra payoff because the npt N hits or
whatever it is, or because they will them out. You're
going to get sometimes where they hang on to win
only by one goal motivation, get lesser pay So you
know what I mean. Over enough of a sample that

(35:16):
are kind of the same. So I think the best
way they're talented is just kind of comparing the options
that you have and seeing which one is kind of
better compared to the consensus prices.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Nick, we all leave about a minute left, but because
we are sitting essentially three quarters of the way through
the NHL season for most teams here. You know, it's
a good time to take a little prime or a
little look at the whether the awards market or just
the Stanley Cup oods or conference odds divisions, make the playoffs,
miss the playoffs, what have you? I mean, you know,
to pick your choice. Really in the short time that

(35:50):
we have, is there a team or player or something
in a situation that has your attention as far as
our listeners should be considering investing right now?

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Yeah, I mean that's pretty tough. I wish I could
see more of the live prices. I'm going to go
in and say, although at the Kings twenty to one
to win outright, I think it's a solid option. I
think it could be breaking for them a little better
than people think. I feel like they've kind of been
knocking on the door. They just can't get by the earliers.

(36:24):
But I think if they do, they are good enough
to get it done. So I think that's a pretty
reasonable price in a year that does look fairly open
when you like, it should be a pretty unreal postingon
because I think there's a lot of teams that are
right in the mix. So I think you're getting enough
for the price to back.

Speaker 5 (36:42):
Then, does Florida get to the Cup for a third
straight year or do you think that they're going to
be too banged up this time around of Ka Chuck's
really hurt.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
Yeah, I'm going to say they run out of gas.
I think they're you know, we'll see it. I mean
it's hard egauge because they're obviously very people are ramping
it up. We kind of saw this from the Lightning
some of those years there. But I do think that
they're in pretty tough because I think the leaves are
a little bit better, and I'm the Lightning are a
lot better I've been. I really thought the last few

(37:13):
years the Lightning's roster has quietly gone a lot worse.
But they've made some really good decisions this summer and
Haggle and THRELLI a book and Unreal, So I do
think they're a lot better. So I kind of think
that bracket is looking tough. So I'm going to say
that they don't find a way to get back here again.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Nick Martin once again a contributing writer over at Daily Faceoff,
New York Post, among other outlets. He is on Twitter
at Nick m Underscore Hockey. Nick I always enjoy it, man,
and we'll definitely catch you again down here the stretch
run of the regular season.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Yeah awesome, thanks a lot for having me.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
All right, we'll come on back with bank roll repairs
for your weekend.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
Now back to the Gambler with Adam Kauffman on sixt
eighty WRKL streaming live on the iHeart Radio app, or
tell your smart speaker to play w r KO on iHeartRadio.
It's time for your bank roll repair powered by today's collision.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
So today Dan's bank roll repair plus one twenty seven
is in mine fell apart late with Tennessee Tech dropped
the plus one oh eight, so we lost the unit.
Still profitable in the br streets by a quarter of
a unit. As far as other show plays, the parlay
is dead because of me. I had Denver minus two

(38:36):
and a half. They lost outright in Milwaukee by nine points,
so that dropped us a couple of units between the
Parlay and the Strait. Chowdrey's choice Sammy Chowdres Franz Wagner
over three and a half assists play got home with
four on the nose, And if you guys, you and
Lamarca Dan keep doing what you're supposed to be doing.
Then I will be a jerk for a second straight day. Pelicans,

(38:59):
we need plus seven and a half. They're up by
seven with five minutes to go in Phoenix and your play, Dan,
you see, Santa Barbara just on the money line. No,
I'm sorry, minus six and a half, up by eight
right now, late in the opening half, so quite a
ways to go. But that one's obviously trending where we
would like it. Nas Reed. The group play that we added,

(39:19):
one of them has been shut out across the board.
We have over twenty eight and a half points rebounds,
he has nothing.

Speaker 5 (39:27):
My god, I just want Anthony Edwards literally just ripped
the board out of his hands, frustrated.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
That's annoying. Frustrating.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
Good not great. Portland State is up at the half
by twelve points. Yep, we need them by three, so
that's good. Anaheim is down two goals after one period,
need them to score three. So that right now is
a problem area. But hopefully that can get going.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
And how by the way, both golf plays looking really good.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
That's what I was gonna ask. How are we doing
there with the our quartet to make the cut.

Speaker 5 (40:03):
All four are in good shape. Everybody was going load today.
Jake Napp first round leader, twelve birdies, insane, dude was
going nuclear today on the course. We can talk about
this a little more after we talked to JVT, but yeah,
all four of our guys in good shape right now.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
Excellent. Good to hear, all right, bank roll repairs. What
do you have for tomorrow?

Speaker 5 (40:22):
Back to college basketball again? Another three legger for us.
Let's go with Cornell on the money line, Georgia Southern
on the money line, they're taking on Georgia State, so
make sure you get Georgia's Southern. And to bring this
to plus money, we're gonna go with VCU, who's a
heavy heavy favorite at home. Put those three together plus
one oh nine on DraftKings.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
I expect to have something for you by the end
of the show, but I don't like what I have
right now, so I'm gonna wait a little bit and
continue to look into some of these plays and hopefully
bring something home for you. I mean the very least
it'll be on the app, but I think i'll have
it before or the end of the show, since we'll
have some time. Like you said, after Jonathan von Tobel,

(41:03):
in that final segment of the final hour as well.
But yeah, right now, it's just not what I'm liking.

Speaker 5 (41:10):
There's no Yeah, I was hoping like in something that
I think I'm gonna definitely probably add, and I think
we shad as a trend play tomorrow is McKinnon shots.
It's not up anywhere yet, so I don't have the line.
That's why keep make an official or anything like that.
But maybe we'll be available by the end of the
show tonight, who knows. But yeah, like I was talking about,
he just owns Minnesota and he's at home where he's
like converting. He's he has a point like ninety percent

(41:32):
of his home games again this year. It's just insane.
So that was also a potential builder leg if it
was posted anywhere, but it's not right now.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
Yeah, And I'm just not sure. Like you, you tend
to be universally college and I tend to have either
all NBA or NBA college mixture. And looking at tomorrow's
slate in the NBA, which we'll get into again with
JBT coming up in just a little bit, there's just
I mean, there's one heavy favorite and that is Oklahoma City,
a double digit favorite on the road in Atlanta, and

(42:00):
I'm a little squeamish after what we saw against the
uh Brooklyn Nets last night. They did get home, but
man ugly start. So the thunder it could be a warning.
We'll get into this with John. It could be a
warning sign the thunder starting to maybe throttle down a
little bite.

Speaker 5 (42:15):
I mean, they got a lot of young guys. Yeah,
you know, get into that full grind of a season
and they're here, what next Friday night something like that.
They cooked, so yeah, so that'd be that'll be a
fun one too. But uh yeah, a lot of talk
about it, lots to talk about in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (42:28):
Let's do it next.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
Bad was your bank roll Repair?
