(00:00):
Now wr KO presents Boston's only nightlysports betting show, The Gambler, with
Adam Kaufman covering spreads, props, parlays and more. The Gambler starts now
here's Adam Kaufman while we are sweatingout the People's Parley and man, well,

(00:24):
is it sweat or is it rain? It's yeah, that's what I
was trying to figure out. Sothe after I guess I live in the
w NBA streets now because my legcleared this afternoon with relative ease. That
was the La Sparks winning. Theyjust had to cover three and a half
points. They won convincingly on KidsDay in Los Angeles today, so that

(00:44):
was a nice early success for thePeople's Parley. But of course at that
point in time, still two legsto go. Took a little while to
get there. Although it was alwayspacing throughout the game, your leg got
the job done as well. Thatwas the fore I believe nine runs in
the Cubs Cardinals game. They're sittingat ten right now, Cubs pretty much

(01:06):
by themselves, your Cubs, that'sright. I know nine to one,
Chicago is in front. So justa push alone on the part of Chicago,
and if we can get a PaulGoldschmidt hit at some point in time
here over the next couple innings beforethis thing does come to an end,
because we know we're not seeing extrasin this one that will also cash your
bankroll repair, so hopefully that happens. The only leg that we are waiting

(01:26):
on right now for a successful, mercilessly a successful people's parlay, and again
very much on track. We arejust in the waiting game at the moment.
That is the under four runs inthis contest between the Washington Nationals and
New York Mets, which is undernine and a half. It's one one

(01:49):
in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Mets have tied the game.
They have the bases loaded with oneout, and I guess the skies opened,
so we have to wait for thisone to resume. Hopefully the Mets
can, you know, just geta few across and one, two,
three, go to the Nats onthe top of the ninth, and we
will have ourselves a successful people's parlayin a plus day. Obviously in terms

(02:09):
of units, I mean we've we'velocked that in any way, but we
would like to go up three fullunits with the official picks for this show.
Because it's been a week and notthe best possible way. We need
to end on a high note.Dan Watkins, Yes, we do,
an Adam. You didn't think thatour first successful parlay in a few weeks
would come easy, did you.I mean, look at this literally literally,
it's like God is intervening to preventus from hitting a parlay. You

(02:31):
do a quick Twitter search right nowof city Field and it's people sprinting from
their seats. Biblical rain. Itis just an absolute monsoon in Flushing,
New York right now. And thatis what we are dealing with, is
we're trying to hit this parlay.Plagues and locusts and whatever else, whatever
else gets in the way of ustrying to get this job done. Like

(02:52):
I said you, hopefully we'll findout Paul Goldschmidt. I assume he's going
to bat again at the bottom ofthe eighth. Yeah, okay, so
we'll keep an eye on that.I have that game on here. Hopefully
you cash your bank roll repair mineunfortunately did not come through one out of
the two legs did the other one, And I even told people at the
time, I don't feel great aboutthis particular bank roll repair, which I

(03:13):
know goes It flies in the faceof what that segment is supposed to be.
We are supposed to be overjoyed andjust beaming with confidence about getting those
things together. And I just mindlast night it was a rush job.
I didn't like it. I eventold people at the time I didn't like
it. Obviously I played it,you played it. It didn't happen because

(03:34):
this female tennis player I'd never evenheard of that I included in this thing,
unfortunately, was upset last night. The New York Liberty covered the first
half. They did what they weresupposed to do, but sadly we are
looking toward, hopefully another split inthe bank roll repair. So we'll see.
We'll have more official picks obviously tocome over the course of this show.
We have a big show. Wehave another big show. It's not

(03:57):
maybe as big as last nights interms of being as robust because last night
show obviously had four guests, whichfor us was unprecedented. It was a
jam packed two hours. But weare not, by any stretch lacking in
content tonight with the three guests thatwe will welcome onto this program. And
I'm very very much looking forward todoing that. Starting in about ten minutes,

(04:18):
we are going to have John mckeckney, who covers college football among other
things for Roda Wire, good buddyof yours. He is going to join
us. We are going to talkACC. That's right. No NFL tonight.
We of course did the Patriots backon Monday. Tuesday, was the
Bills, Jets and Dolphins both lastnight. More on that in a moment.
We are moving our focus for tonightto the start of our Power five

(04:43):
Football conference previews. We will dothe ACC tonight, which as all of
you out there, fully expect loadsof Boston College talk and loads of Syracuse
talk because me being an Orange Menalum man. Of course, the location
that we are in, that's whatpeople want. People want Eagles talk,
and they want Orange talk, andthat's what we're going to give them.

(05:03):
No, obviously we'll be well, you'd have to drive to another state to
bet on bcity. True, that'strue. That is unfortunate. It is
some mckckney's gonna come on with usfor a couple of segments starting in about
ten minutes. As mentioned in thesecond hour of the program, will of
course do a new Bank will repairfor you. At the end of this
hour, second hour of the program, we will have Sloan Piva will join

(05:25):
us and we will talk about thebaseball trade deadline market, next player team
odds for a variety of people. There are a lot of interesting people,
not including Shoheyotani, baseball god Shoheyotani, who could be on the move.
Over the course of the next week, we will explore some of what Sloan
wrote about for the Sporting News andchat with him, find out what he

(05:48):
is expecting. What will the RedSox do, if anything, in terms
of a monumental move. I knowthey've been making smaller moves in recent days,
but will they do anything significant,be it buyer seller? We will
see. And Charlie Disturco, ourbuddy from Action Network, will give us
some early Friday baseball leans. He'llhelp us out with the People's parlay as
well. See if we can makeit too successful people's parlays this week.

(06:11):
If in fact, of course,we even do nail tonights. We'll keep
an eye on that, depending onLike Dan said, what what a higher
power has in store for us asit relates to that, And and yes
he was in my ear. Idon't. I don't think everybody could hear
him. Maybe, just maybe,as we are putting this show to bed
later on, it being our finalshow of the week, we will give
our guy, our our man hittingall the buttons back there, EJ.

(06:34):
Pacheco. We will give him anopportunity to hand you guys some more UFC
picks. I don't feel good aboutit. No, no, we are
doing a fade EJ segment tonight.Yes, but we will let we will
let him, you know, givehis offerings to the people. It's going
to be a good card I can'twait. Can't wait either. That's that's

(06:55):
I'm very much looking forward to it. But Adam, I got some bad
news. Tell me. The Cardinalsare wave in the white flag. They
have nope, they pulled them. They put Burlson in as a defensive replacement.
He's now up to the plate. They took Ernado out of the game,
they took Contreris out of the game. So they are just full on
waving the white flag to the Cubs. And what's just been a very sad
year in Saint Louis, And itlooks like the bank roll repair is gonna

(07:17):
go over two. Well, thatsucks. Yep, that's unfortunate. That's
not even the worst thing that happenedhappened to me today gambling wise. What
Justin Thomas did on the eighteenth holemade me almost pull out all of my
hair last night during our golf segmentwith Matt right that I'm totally blank Cannon.
Yes. With Matt, we weretalking about Justin Thomas in his first

(07:40):
round score. I took it atunder sixty eight and a half with plus
one fifteen. He's going into thepar five eighteenth hole. He is he's
putting for eagle. He's got fiftyfeet left for eagle, and I'm looking
at the option I could cash itout. It's almost going to pay out
the full, and like, youknow what, No, he's got fifty

(08:01):
feet, he's gonna he's playing nice, he's playing well. Putter's been hot
today. He's gonna sink this firstput Okay, he gets it within within
nine feet, so I'm like,Okay, he's gonna hit the birdie.
Gonna hit the birdie. We'll befine. Well at sixty eight, will
barely clear this. And then hemisses by about three inches to the left.
He shoots a sixty nine. Anice sixty nine, but not nice

(08:22):
for my bankroll as I lost thebet. Yeah, that's it's tough I
am about at the Uh No,this like no slide. It was a
good pick obviously. I mean youyou effectively lost by by the hook.
Yeah. In the world of golf. I don't know how often that actually
happens, but it did, unfortunatelyhappen to us. There's no slight on
Matt. He had his his hiseyes on the price. It was the

(08:45):
right idea. I just I havegiven away way too much money to the
world of golf, and I thinkwhile we are going to continue to do
golf segments from time to time, not as often having nothing to do with
my own personal successes or failures, just because obviously we are past major season
in the world of golf. Soyou know, we'll we'll touch on golf

(09:05):
and you got the Ryder Cup comingup in a little will we will do
some of that. I just don'tknow how many of these like three m
Open, you know, kind oftournaments will be doing extensive previews of.
But we will be giving out thepicks to the people from our experts,
the people that that know, uhPGA and and and uh anything and everything
that has golf much better obviously thanI do. But on a personal level,

(09:28):
me, I think I'm I'm goingto take a little golf break.
Probably not a bad idea, yeah, adding once still get on the course
though, if you if you don'teven know if you play, do you
play? No, I should play. I I it's one of the I've
I've been out two three times inmy entire life. Okay, it's it's
not It's not even one of thoselike, oh I I play all the
time and I just sucked. Don'tget me wrong. If I did play

(09:50):
all the time, I have noexpectations I'd be good. I just like,
at least maybe it would be respectableenough to like be worthy of an
invitation out to play. Right rightnow, I like, I would just
embarrass myself. It wouldn't I wouldfrustrate everybody I'm on the course with.
I would just be annoying and andhold everybody up. Wouldn't be worth it

(10:11):
at all. By the way,we've got a more runs in this Cardinals
game, but we've already catched theover. But the cards, you know,
waking up late now that they've wavedthe white flag. They've got all
these other guys deliverings nine to three. Now still you know, in all
likelihood, Cubs out of this inthe bag. But Cardinals are trying.
Yeah, put up a little bitof a fight, I guess with their

(10:33):
bench guys. Unfortunately. Yeah,Barlson got a hit too, Like that
was a spot? Can we getcredit? Can I should? I email
FanDuel saying, hey, it wasGoldschmidt's spot, it was his replacement,
he got the hit. Did weget credit for that? I actually did
not take Paul Goldschmidt to get ahead. I took the number two hitter in
the Cardinals life to get a hittonight. That's exactly it. I don't
care. I don't care about Goldie. I just wanted. I wanted that

(10:56):
spot, but wanted It's it's likethe Cardinals first base. Yeah, it's
like when you do a card break, like I have this particular spot in
the order, I have this teambeing represented. I don't care about your
your particular player, nonsense. Wedon't need any of that. So this
will be good looking forward to it. We'll continue to keep an eye obviously
on that Mets game and find outif and when they resume, I hope

(11:22):
they do resume and it's not youknow, suspended game that we got to
wait till tomorrow to cash our partlay. That would be incredibly annoying,
but it is possible. I didwant to mention, by the way,
we had Adam Beasley on with uslast night talking Dolphins, and you know
he'd talk about tempting the football gods. Yeah, so overconfident, pretty much

(11:45):
scoffing at the idea that people wereoverlooking the Dolphins as as a team to
win the division and making it allabout the Bills and all about the Jets.
You people aren't paying attention. Well, then you know, he goes
to training camp practice today and JalenRamsey obvious gets carted off the field and
has a knee injury that's going tokeep him out at least the start of

(12:05):
the year, and maybe even alittle bit longer than that. So everything
has been turned upside down at leasta little bit defensively for Miami. Meanwhile,
some concern obviously in Cincinnati with JoeBurrow coming up lame on a calf
injury that looks like, as youwere telling me, he's out for the
preseason, which sounds like, yeah, no big shock there, like these

(12:26):
guys shouldn't be playing the preseason anyway, you know, people like Burrow,
but hopefully he's ready obviously for Weekone. But it was as that happened,
a lot of people jumping on theunders for some various Burrow props,
or or picking the Ravens to winthe division, that type of thing.
So among the many things obviously tokeep an eye on in the football world,
football is here and college football iseven closer in Texas official game.

(12:48):
So we are going to chat withJohn mckney when we come back acc Atlantic
Coast Conference Football Talk on the wayThe Gambler with Adam Kofman w RKO.
Sick and tired of old sports talkand want to get right into the action.
The Gambler with Adam Kaufman, asyou covered, call us now with
six one seven two six six sixeight six eight. That's six one seven

(13:11):
two six six six eight six eight. The Gambler with Adam Kaufman will be
right back after this on WRKO.Welcome back everyone to Gambler with Adam Kaufman
w RKO. As mentioned earlier,we have done a whole lot of NFL
Future Stalk over the course of thisweek. Tonight, though, we start
our look at college football in onePower five conference per week per week.

(13:35):
It begins with the ACC, theAtlantic Coast Conference. We will do a
deep dive over the course of thenext twenty minutes or so, and to
help us do that, we welcomein a good friend of Dan Watkins as
a matter of fact, so whenhe has worked with in the past,
from Rhoda Wire, John Mckecknee John, How are you man? Doing well?
Guys? I really appreciate you guyshaving me on. I'm really excited

(13:58):
to talk in college pig skin. You know, we hit the dog days
of the summer, we see themedia days and it's like, oh man,
football is almost here. So I'mso excited. The pageantry, all
the good stuff, and the ACCis an awesome starting points, a very
interesting conference, a lot of movingpieces within it, so I'm excited to

(14:22):
break it down. I'm glad youfeel that way because I chose it by
going in alphabetical order, so itseemed like how you did do that science?
It seemed like a wonderful place tostart. In fact, I think
a really great place to start JohnIs, you know, with fifteen returning
starters and avoiding Clemson, North Carolinaand NC State, everyone is wondering.
Everybody I talked to, will JeffHafley's Boston College team contend for a bowl?

(14:46):
That is what is top of mind? Would people talk acc right?
Of course it is, um,you know, and naturally so, I
mean we're talking about it. We'retalking about a football factory that produced the
first rounder this past year. Yeah, they did just the one. But
yeah, and you know, Iwent to a Jesuit high school, Boston

(15:07):
College, a Jesuit college, SoI mean, I have the utmost respect.
But uh boy, it's gonna bea bit of an uphill climb.
I'm gonna be honest with you.Um, it's not. It's not looking
great on Chestnut Hill right now.Um. It's It's interesting because a couple
of years ago, with the newcoach they brought in, it felt like

(15:28):
that things are really training in theright direction. You bring in, build
your COVID and you know things, things look solid, and then he gets
injured during that twenty twenty one season, and then last year I just couldn't
believe what I was seeing. Andit started with that Rutgers game, and
it's like, okay, but somethingis amiss, uh here with with this

(15:48):
Boston College team, because they've donewell in the transfer portal, they had
competed well that the year prior, and things just did not materialize whatsoever.
And I think, if you're BostonCollege, I think, what what can
turns me a lot if you ifyou're trying to just kind of get yourself
on the right track, I thinkyou got to either have a healthy passing

(16:08):
even now you have Zay Flowers who'sgone, who is basically like thirty thirty
five percent of that passing attack inone person. You gotta be able to
run the football a little bit better. In the ammic nature of this Boston
College rushing attack last year was particularlykind of something that stood out a lot.

(16:29):
So I was concerned by that. And you know, Boston College is
a program that generally is able toturn out some legitimate offensive line talent that
that goes to the next level. So something is not clicking there. If
they can at least start with gettingthat ground game established. I know that's
like not a cool thing to sayin today's day and age where everyone just

(16:49):
wants everything to be seven on seven. That's another segment, of course,
but I think they need to getat least a little bit a credible run
threat for anything to start working therefor BC guys, I was at that
Rutgers game last year, and letme tell you, I have seen better
offensive line play and Pop Warner gamesthan by blast year. It was bad.

(17:14):
I was gonna say I was,I was half kidding, but you
know, we actually got some realgood BC analysis there. I think that's
probably about as much as we'll talkabout the Eagles during these couple of segments
about the ACC. But it's goodto get in there, and hopefully after
going three and nine, there's nowhereto go but up. But at the
top of the conference, as weknow, guys, and there there are
some dark horses. There are someteams that that actually could threaten to maybe

(17:34):
win the ACC. But the teamsthat we are focused on, of course,
at the top of them on thesethis fourteen team league and no divisions,
and that's important to note. NowClemson and Florida State two horse races,
you guys have you know we weretexting about it earlier. Clemson's won
seven out of the last eight ACCtitle games eight no and league play last
year blew out North Carolina and theconference championship. And uh, you know

(17:57):
you have also an as you teamthat finished ten and three, another team
that has the potential to go perfectin league play. But yeah, these
two teams, it's just it's kindof interesting because I think, John,
you look at them and you couldsay, I mean, either of these
teams could be a national champion, but neither one is even a lock to
win the conference. So who doyou give the edge? Two? I

(18:18):
give it to Florida State. Um. I think that they have more experience,
namely at quarterback. I think thatthey had some really key decisions from
from some very important players to comeback. And I think that you can
draw some parallels to some other recentteams that made big runs. You know,

(18:40):
I'm gonna go full disclosure here.I'm a graduate of the University of
Georgia. And after the two thousandand six team season that you know,
things were not great. That thatfirst season under Kirby Smart and Nick Chubb
could have left, Ny Michelle couldhave left, a bunch of guys could
have could have jumped to the nextlevel, and they didn't. And then
two and seventeen all of a suddenfind themselves playing for the national Championship Games.

(19:03):
So Florida State getting Jared Bursey back, who projects to be a first
round defensive end or edge rusher innext year's class, probably could have been
squeezed into the first round this year. I think that was a huge domino.
Getting Johnny Wilson back. That guyis an absolute terror to defend.
I mean we're talking about a guywith, you know, small forward type
of size, playing wide receiver, who moves like a wide receiver. So

(19:27):
having him on the outside. They'vedone well in the transfer portal that they
got Coleman out of Michigan State, who I think, you know, Michigan
State was just kind of a messlast year. He gets a fresh start
down at FSU. They have aloaded backfield trade Benson. I think it
is really a potential challenger to winthe rushing title this season. So there's

(19:49):
so much going for this Florida Stateteam. I was a little disappointed in
how they played in the bowl gameagainst Oklahoma may or maybe or maybe not,
because I thought that they were thebest bet to to cover that seven
and a half point spread. Butthat's besides the point here, I really
do believe that Florida State they've gotthe continuity that got themselves on the right
path there under Norbelle. I wasstarting to question coming into last year whether

(20:11):
they really had the goods or whetherhe had the goods specifically to take them
back to where Florida State traditionally overthe last you know, forty plus years
since the Bowden days have been. And I think that they really have it.
But we get to see right offthe jump and it doesn't really necessarily
pertain to the acc for them goingup against LSU. I think both of

(20:33):
them are kind of buying to bethat next second tier of title contenders behind
your classic SEC teams. So Ireally do believe that Florida State has a
chance to make a statement all throughoutSeptember that they open again with LSU and
they get Clemson. I believe inthe fourth game of the season it's going
to be in Death Valley, Sothat is going to be really just kind

(20:56):
of the game for this common Princethe entire way. As for Clemson,
so they have kay Clubnick, whowho's going to be his second year in
the program, coming in. Ithink the talent was hard to question.
I think he definitely has everything betweenthe ears and on the field to to

(21:17):
be um not like a Trevor Lawrence, but you know, I think certainly
much better than what dj Lui Unglaywas over his couple of seasons there at
Clemson. But I do question whetherI think a recurring theme and something that
has kind of been a calling carda hallmark of Clemson teams over the last

(21:40):
decade plus since they became you know, truly relevant, and they ditched clemsoning
as a verb has been an elitewide receiving corps and they don't really have
that right now. And it's surprisingthat that Davis Swinney, who you know,
kind of cut his teeth, cuthis teeth as a wide receivers coach,
they they're suddenly, no, notreally getting those elite, elite talents.

(22:02):
Other than Adam Randall, there isn'tlike a stud wide receiver and he's
coming off in acl last year,so we don't even know exactly what he
is at among the college football ranks. So I will say that the Florida
State is my pick for this conference. I do kind of like Jordan Travis,
the quarterback of Florida State has abit of a Heisman dark horse.

(22:23):
He's sixteen to one right now.I think it with everything that's in front
of him, you know, it'sit's a quarterback award for the most part,
and it's a narrative based award, and if he's able to go ahead
and beat LSU and Clemson in thefirst month of the season, he's going
to go from sixteen to one tobeing one of the top three four candidates
as far as the odds are concerned, So that there's a lot going right

(22:45):
I think for Florida State, theyhave a lot to prove still, but
I think that what they have comingback this year and what they built in
twenty twenty two is something that Ithink is going to push them over the
edge. And now all of asudden, whereas Clemson has just kind of
been the number one with a bulletin the acc for for five or probably
coming up on eight years, now, I think now it becomes a bit

(23:08):
more of an open discussion. Ithink that's reflected in the odds as well,
with Clemson being plus one fifty andFlorida State being plus one eighty five
and the next closest contender being nineto one. All right, John,
quickly here, how big is thisaddition of Garrett Riley for this Clemson offense?
They were flat out abysmal last yearand we are up against the break.
But can he get Clemson back overa nine and a half win total

(23:30):
here? I think he should beable to. I don't think Clemson's non
con is all that terrifying, andagain, Florida State is really the only
particularly tough conference game that they're goingto have. Um So I think that
the addition of Riley obviously, whathe was able to do with that TCU
offense, it was astounding last year. But I think it's worth noting that

(23:55):
a lot of those guys were, you know, Sonny Dunks was a relatively
new coach there, so so thatthat needs to be said. But there
was a lot of experienced players there. Max Duggan was a long time player
at tc Kendrin Miller same deal,Clinton Johnson, same deal. So does
Clemson have that big three that GarrettRiley can accentuate properly? We will see,
But I think bottom line, withthe overall depth of this conference,

(24:18):
Clemson should be able to hit thatover We're docing ACC football with John mckeckney,
and we have only scratched the surfacea lot of Clemson, Florida State,
even Boston College. But obviously thereare other teams that could contend in
this conference. Pittsburgh, North Carolina, maybe even North Carolina State. We
will touch on them when we return. Any event about bad bets, you've

(24:40):
come to the right place, tellus about it. Call six one seven
two six six six eight six sixone seven two six six six eight six
eight, or if you're listening onthe iHeartRadio app, use the tuckback button.
The Gambler with Adam Kaufman will beright back after this. On WRKO,

(25:03):
we are previewing the Atlantic Coast FootballConference coming up for the upcoming college
football season. Of course it israpidly approaching, which is always exciting.
We have spent a good amount oftime on Florida State, on Clemson.
Let's look at some of the otherteams that are maybe not fully on the
dark horse category, but darker horsesif you will, to contend for conference

(25:23):
championships in the ACC. We aretalking with John mckeckney here from Rhoda Wire,
and John we mentioned Boston College earlierobviously who no longer has filled Drakovic.
He is now in the QB mixat Pittsburgh, a team that might
be third or fourth in the conferenceat least preseason ranking, depending on where
you look who you talk to.The club. The Panthers that won the

(25:45):
ACC in twenty twenty one avoids Clemsonand Miami in conference play. What are
the expectations here? I'm low onpit I think that they're a program that
when the way that they rely ontransfers, it doesn't work out always.
And you know, we saw itlast year with Keaton Slovis. You guys

(26:08):
obviously saw what Drakovic was bringing tothe table last year. I think he's
a Pittsburgh native, so fresh startthere for him. But losing Izzy Bonaconda
is a huge loss for Pittsburgh,so I think they are going to struggle
despite being able to miss some ofthe giants in conference play. So I
am fading Pittsburgh as far as acontender for this year in the ACC.

(26:33):
John is unc flying under the radarhere. I'm seeing their win total at
eight and a half. I knowthey had a lot of issues, to
put it mildly on defense last year, but they do have Drake May,
who might be the best player inthis conference. And while we can't bet
on Heisman voting here in the stateof Massachusetts, we can put a nice
little plus five fifty bet on himto be the first overall pick in the
NFL Draft. So I hate tothrow cold law are on it. And

(27:00):
I love seeing teams like like NorthCarolina that are not the traditional football powers
you know, have some have somereal staying power as far as that is
concerned. But I have some concernsabout the rest of this roster, and
they lose Um, they lose Joshdownsto the draft, so that that's obviously
a huge part of their passing game. I think they're gonna rely a little

(27:23):
bit more on the run game thisyear that than you might have expected.
They are totally loaded in the backfield, and Drake May is a very very
good player. Um, I stillthink he's a He's a run or two
below Caleb Williams, however, SoI think that when you back of that
in it can Drake May put onthe Superman cape the way that he needs
to to vault and see or uncto the conference championship game. I'm going

(27:48):
to doubt it this year. Um. I think last year was just kind
of a funky type of season wherewhere they just sort of became the de
facto kind of almost sacrificial lamb theClemson at the altar of the ACC Championship
game. I don't see them gettingback there this year. John, I
know Dan wants to ask you aboutMiami, so I'll go NC to NC
State. Any potential that this isa sleeper, This is a team that

(28:08):
started four and one last year, and then injuries and inconsistency at the quarterback
position led to that four and fourfinish down the stretch, including a bold
loss to Maryland. Now Brandon Armstrong'sin at quarterback. He was dominant for
Virginia in twenty twenty one, averagemore than five hundred passing yards per game.
This team obviously will avoid both Pittsburghand FSU and ACC play, which

(28:30):
at least helps in terms of then season schedule. What are your expectations
here? So they are installing anew offense, However, it's an offense
that Brendon Armstrong himself ran at Virginiain twenty twenty one. Robert and a
who spent last year at Syracuse nowat NC State. NC State kind of

(28:51):
to your point there, they remindme very much of like that they're like
the college football equivalent of the Cityof the Los Angeles Chargers, where like
they have all this talent that youcan see their path to really being relevant,
and injuries and other weird things kindof end up getting in their way.
But I think bringing in Armstrong, such an experienced veteran quarterback who has

(29:14):
shown an ability to put up prolificnumbers, I think that that is a
huge addition. And I think havinghim with that comfort level with the offense
and the offensive coordinator is really goingto elevate things here. So we'll see
if their receivers can can kind ofstep up and hold down their end of
the bargain here. But having Armstrongthere, especially when you consider that NC

(29:37):
State always has a very strong defense, I think that they are definitely a
strong contender. I think they areabsolutely my favorite dark horse in the ACC.
I think there's a lot going onthere that there might be a little
bit understated nationally right now with thisprogram. And yeah, I think you
point to losing the Maryland in abowl game, that's not a great look
but they are much different team cominginto this year. I think they're gonna

(30:00):
be fie. I love Dorian astheir head coach, and I really think
that NC State is going to bea tough out all year, and I
think they have a chance to pulloff at least one significant upset on their
way to potentially making their way tothe conference championship game. All Right,
I think this is the last lastteam we're gonna have time for. It
is year two of the Mario crystalBall experience in South Florida. He's back

(30:22):
at the year nowhere to go butup after a very, very disappointing year
one. He's blaming that on aculture class. John can crystal Ball write
the ship here and Tyler Van Dyketake the next step and get back to
where he was two years ago.Well that's a fascinating one. This might
be one of the best questions forfor the college football season generally, because

(30:44):
last year was such a train wreck. So you figure that they will at
least look a good bit more competitivewith crystal Ball installing his second year there.
He did so well at Oregon.I was so in on that higher
when Miami brought him in, soI have to think that things are going
to start to turn around there. But I still I pointed Tyler Van Dyke

(31:06):
as someone who is okay, butI think he needs a lot of help
around him. They obviously are changingtheir offensive coordinator. Gaddis gone after one
year, so new look offense. They were really injury riddled in the backfield
last year. They get a littlebit more injury luck there. The offensive
line looks pretty strong. I thinkMiami will be good, but I think

(31:26):
we're talking about a team that endsup in the eight to nine win range.
I think so significant improvement over lastyear. But does that mean that
the U is back? The juryis still very much out. Hey,
you can get over seven and ahalf at plus one twenty on DraftKings,
plus one thirty eight on Fandel Rightnow, I'm liking that bet a lot,
John, But quick yes or nofor you before we let you go.

(31:47):
Does the ACC send a team tothe playoff this year? Yes,
the champion will get in. Ido believe that one of Clemson or Florida
State, I think is going tomake their way back in. All right,
and very quickly. This is thelast one from me, and we
will go. Do you have anabsolute favorite bet in the conference. I

(32:09):
would say it is Florida State towin the conference. I think that this
is their time. They've been workingtowards this for a while now. We
started to see proof of concept lastyear. I think that this is another
year that they take a step forward, and now it becomes a big question
as to who really is the kingof the a SEC after Clemson's reign over
the last decade. John mckeckney fromRhoda Wired. John, thanks so much,

(32:31):
man. I'm sure we will betalking to me again real soon as
we continue our Power Five Conference previewfor the football season. Cheers, fellas,
Thanks again for having me on.Thanks absolutely a lot of great stuff
from John mckeckney. We are goingto step aside when we return, Dan,
it's time we got to get thebank roll repair back on track.
Were to do that, We're gonnapick some winners when we come back.

(32:52):
Sick and tired of old sports talkand want to get right into the action.
The Gambler with Adam Koffman heads youcovered call us now with six one
seven two six six six eight sixeight. That's six one seven two six
six six eight six eight. TheGambler with Adam Kaufman will be right back

(33:12):
after this on w r KO.Now back to the Gambler with Adam Kaufman
on six eight e w r KOstreaming live on the iHeartRadio app or tell
your smart speaker to play w rKO on iHeartRadio. It's time for your
bank roll repair powered by today's collision. So the bankroll repair didn't do so

(33:37):
hot today, Dan Watkins. Somethingwe had been we had been a pattern
in recent shows, last handful ofshows of one of us would be right,
one of us would be wrong. We were just splitting and overall we
were up on our bank bank rollrepair units. But we we don't want
to just be you know, upa core or unit or a half unit

(34:00):
each day. We want both ofthese to hit every day. That is
the point of the bank roll repairsegment. That is our goal. I
realize that's not going to happen onehundred percent of the time, but we
would like it to happen as oftenas possible. As supposed to what happened
today when well, I think fittinglywe this this segment dropped to nine and

(34:21):
eleven with today's OZ and two.You put that together that is nine one
one. That's an emergency. Weneed to we need to fix it.
We are we are down overall inthe bank roll repair, specifically the bank
roll repair bankroll, if you will. We are down about about a unit
and a half. That is notrepairing anybody's bankroll. That is costing people

(34:43):
money. So let's start around whatare you looking at for tomorrow? Okay,
So since this is our last weekweek or show of the week,
I'm going to stretch this into theweekend, give us, you know,
a little action Saturday morning, veryearly on as well because the World Cup.
But let's start with baseball tomorrow. We're going to take the Twins on
the money line to start this SunnyGray as seemed to figure things back out

(35:05):
after a rough couple of starts. He's taken on the Royals tomorrow night.
So I've targeted the Royals a fewtimes this week. All of those plays
have hits, so let's hope thatcontinues as well. They're going against Brady
Singer for Kansas City, who theone time he has faced Minnesota this year.
Adam, let me quick quickly readyou a stat line. Two and
two thirds, eight earned runs, three walks, not great, so hopefully

(35:25):
the Twins can pounce on him,and then we are going to go to
the Women's World Cup. We're goingto go to early Saturday morning. It's
a six am kick our time,France versus Brazil, and we are going
to play around with the total andbring it to over one and a half
goals. So we just need twogoals in that game. Brazil scored four

(35:46):
in their last game. France actuallyplayed to a zero zero draw, but
hopefully they can get a goal here. So you put those two together,
it gives you a nice little plusone nineteen two pick parlay plus one nineteen
Okay, all right, well,I respect you living in in in looking
at looking at the positive. You'reyou're you're not even going light on yourself

(36:08):
here. You're still you knowing thatplus money vicinity with a bank roll repair.
That's good, that's good. You'reshowing a certain level of confidence that
well, I wish I shared itin this moment, but I want to
get this back on track. Andso here's what I'm doing. I have
been knock on wood having some bettersuccess, a little less variance in the

(36:35):
women's basketball space. So I amgoing to the w NBA. Okay,
and I am putting a first halfwinner in. This is for tomorrow first
half winner in for the Dallas Wingswho have been hot up against the Washington
Mystics. Not where I thought youwere going with that, No, no,
no mixing it up, getting alittle crazy. And if you didn't
think I was going there, youreally didn't think that I was going where

(36:59):
I'm going to go next. Hereis what I am going to do.
Uh. Despite temptation of going backto the CFL or something like that,
which is always fun on the weekends, obviously, I'm gonna call this my
my ode to EJ bankroll repair.I am extending this on to Saturday.
I am bringing in a UFC fight. Oh boy, who I know I'd

(37:21):
like. Do you hear him? He's bouncing through the walls. EJ can
tell me how much he likes thisone. Avoid it. It's a good
points. I mean, it's aheavy favorite, so I sure hope it
pans out. But uh, yeah, I guess that that is a fair
concern. I am going to pairwith my Dallas Wings first half winner Gabriel

(37:43):
Bonfim to win on the money lineagainst Trevin Gillies. Those are puling fighters.
I have no idea who they are. Good, perfect, I don't
need to deal with the main card, all right, good, there we
go. Doesn't just have to bemain, that's right. So I'm gonna
have bonfin on the money line aswell as the Dallas Wings first half winner.
You put them together, that isminus one thirty. Okay, let's

(38:07):
do it. That is how I'mgoing to roll with this one. I'm
you know, hopefully we don't.This would be a pretty drastic upset if
im and look UFC is it canbe funny that way. I'm not.
I'm not saying anything is guaranteed, but bonfam is minus three fifty five on
the money line by himself. Yeah, I see the overwhelming favorite going into

(38:27):
this. Yep, he's on onlyminus three thirty on DraftKings, so it
might actually be a little bit ofa better play on DKA. What do
you have is for this bet?On Draft Kings, they don't have the
first they do not there yet,Nope, can't. They don't have the
first half up yet. Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. So that's what we're
working with. So colus one nineteenfor Dan here and plus or rather minus

(38:52):
one thirty for me on my bankroll repair and you know, we're like
I said, we're extending it into the weekend a little bit. That
is the luxury, obviously of aThursday show. And there were a lot
of things to consider though. Therewere a lot of different options that we
could have gone with here, justsort of exploring whether it's in. The

(39:13):
Braves were calling me, but Idecided to leave them alone. I actually
thought you were going to go withthem, So that's why I leave you.
Yeah, that's why I left themthere. After losing two games at
Fenway, I think going back hometomorrow night against the Brewers, that's a
good spot for Atlanta. Hey,maybe they will factor into the People's Parlay
somehow. It could happen. Itcould definitely happen. Maybe look at a
first five line or something like that. Maybe somebody would get bold with the

(39:35):
run line. It won't be me, It won't be It won't be me
either. Don't worry. We willbuild out the People's Parlay in the next
hour with Charlie de Storreco very muchlooking forward to that. When we returned
though, in about five minutes orso, we will get into baseball and
take a look at the next teamfutures for various players that could be dealt
at the trade deadline. In abouta week, we will do that with
Sloane Piva from Sporting News. Gonowhere our number two of the game with

(41:05):
you get your podcast. But weare going to move in the world of
baseball right now because the trade deadlineis rapidly approaching. We will do some
early Friday leans with Charlie Disturco People'sParlay as well. That Mets game,
by the way, should hopefully begetting out from the thunder and lightning and
torrential rains and back onto the fieldand going again in about ten minutes,
So we'll keep an eye on hopefullycashing tonight's People's Parlay. But right now

(41:29):
we are looking at some trade deadlinefutures, some next team odds for players
that could be on the move, and happy to have Sloan Piva here with
us from the Sporting News to helpus with that. He has been writing
about it forecasting where guys could be. You can get a lot of odds
on DraftKings Sloan, Welcome to theshow. Hey, thanks for having me.

(41:50):
It appreciate it absolutely. So let'syou know, people obviously who are
listening or probably most curious about theRed Sox. I know that you know
you and the odds, and thereare a lot of big names that could
be on the move, whether we'retalking Blake Snell or Cody Bellinger, Edward
Rodriguez obviously who pitched here previously,Jordan Montgomery, Josh Hayter is another one,

(42:13):
Justin Verlander, Marcus Stroman, MaxScherzer, Paul Goldschmidt, Tim Anderson.
Just looking at some of the guysthat are available to bet on,
and if the Red Sox are evenlisted with any of these players, it
is for very long odds. Doyou believe despite being right there in the
wild card mix, this team willbe a buyer at the deadline? Yeah,

(42:35):
I mean, I don't expect hugesplashes from him Bloom. I think
we've kind of come to expect, you know, an underwhelming trademark at least
mid season from from him. ButI also don't think they'll stand pat you
know, they're they're right there inthe mix, They've been beating good teams.
There are only seven games behind thefirst place Orioles, and I think,
you know, another arm and maybesome defensive help since that's been a

(43:00):
struggle of theirs all season, mightpush them over the top and get them
closer to contending for the at leastnumber one spot. But I mean,
hard to believe that that's even apossibility at this point after the race start.
But um, I think there's someuntouchables. Of course that the Red
Sox have, Duran Devers, Rodugo, Yoshida BeO, but I think Cassis

(43:25):
Um, he could be on themove. It's he's not untouchable. I
wouldn't think, um, but Iwouldn't expect, you know, any dream
moves like Berlander, Goldschmidt, TimAnderson. You know, there's a reason
why these these guys are all listedso long, like you said, and
some of them aren't even listed.Um for the Red Sox for Boston,

(43:47):
realistically, something that they could actuallypursue to help, I think the greatest
need would be another solid, rotationalarm, probably a veteran. Maybe they'll
take a look at a Jack Flahertyor a Seth logo. But you know,
I'm not expecting some big you know, former cy young pitcher or anything
like that, somebody that can maybeyou know, be a better defensive cog

(44:13):
and be a more reliable veteran batfor them, maybe like a Paul de
Jong, you know, like amid tier in field, or like a
rental. And I know that's notgoing to excite any Red Sox fans,
but I think we do have totemporary expectations at this point. And you
know also that they're probably not goingto want to deplete the farm system too
badly at this point. You mentionedTristan Cassas. Don't you think that if

(44:37):
especially the way that he is hitting. Obviously I know that it started a
little rough this year, but theway he's going right now, where he
just feels automatic at the play.If the organization this is still a young
guy. If I'm Bloom was seriousabout dealing him, don't you think there'd
have to be a meaningful return.I mean it surprises me a little bit
that you would mention him as apossible trade candidate. Yeah, I mean,

(44:59):
I do like houses a lot,but if they could get in the
mix for a Goldschmid, you know, somebody like that, it would be
somebody that I think they couldn't resisttrading costs for it. It's obviously not
you know, somebody that they woulddeal for for one of those lower tier
veterans that I mentioned, like theJong. But if they could get somebody

(45:19):
that could be a real game changerand really get them in the mix and
then contending, then I think hewould be a possibility. But you know
that, I also think that's probablywhat other teams would would come to expect
for for an All Star bat andyou know, a potential MVP candidate.
Well, unless they were looking atdemand a Brian Bayo or a Marcello Meyer.
Right, yeah, but I meanI don't think they're gonna deal uh

(45:45):
Bayo because he's just been so goodfor them. I think they do need
to improve their their rotation. Idon't think taking Bayo out of the rotation
is a good idea for them atthis point. But so yeah, I
mean it's definitely needs slow now thatshow Heyotani, baseball god shoe. Aotani's
odds are off the board because he'snot going to be moved in Quite frankly,

(46:06):
I never thought he was going tobe moved. Artie Moreno, I
recognize that he is going to becrucified if, in fact, Joe Hey
leaves at the end of the year. You have to go for it,
as they are kind of doing. They added Lucas Giolito. You have to
attempt to make a run. It'syour only hope of resigning this guy versus
just you know, hunting on thegreatest talent arguably the baseball has ever seen.

(46:27):
Little. I mean, we're notjust talking generational talent. We are
talking all time talents. So,like I said, now that he's off
the board, who do you think, realistically is the biggest name that ends
up moving well, I mean,I think they're going to think that clause
into talks for Josh Hayter. Ithink they'll they'll definitely make a call on

(46:49):
Blake Snell. Um. You know, they're gonna really want to go all
in, like you said, um, and and try to prove to Otani
that they want to win and thatthey want to retain his services for the
long term. Um. But it'snot going to be easy. They don't
have the greatest farm system. Um. And you know, they don't have
a history of pulling off too manygreat mid season trades. So um,

(47:13):
but you know, I think theydefinitely will be all in at this point.
The Geldo move is a good signum for for Angels fans that you
know, they're actually making some stridesand and and trying to learn some people
over there. But you know,we'll we'll see. And like you said,
Otani's probably moving at the end ofthe year. Anyway. I think
that's probably why not too many teamswe're interested in paying the King's ransom to

(47:38):
get him and deplete their farm systemjust to have him for a couple of
months. You know, the teamsthat are already contending don't necessarily need him
for two months. And probably theteams that are going to spend the big
money, like the Dodgers, youknow, trying to trying to get him
over at the you know later inthe year, they're they're going to grab
him if they can. Anyway,So Sloan, I'm browsing the DraftKings trade

(48:02):
deadline odds right now, and twonames that have caught my eye here are
both members of the Chicago Cubs,Cody Bellinger and Marcus Stroman. A week
ago, the Cubs seem like theywere surefire sellers, but they've rattled off
six straight wins and eight out ofthe last nine games they've won. There
now just four games back in thewildcard race, five and a half back
in the NL Central, so itseems like they might be in the position

(48:23):
to add instead. And I'm lookinghere, Cody Bellinger plus one fifty to
be a member of the Cubs onAugust second, Marcus Stroman plus two hundred.
What do you think the Cubs aregoing to do? Well? It's
funny. I've been watching a littlebit of the Cubs lately. They've been
kind of fun to watch during thisrun. Like you said, they're they're
starting to heat up. And whatthe Cubs announcers have been saying is that

(48:45):
this team really enjoys playing with oneanother, and it's a team that has
a lot of cohesiveness, and theyreally genuinely enjoy each other's company. And
you know, it's something you don'tusually see from teams that start the season
low. You know, they're they'rereally rallying to try and try and become
relevant again. And and I don'tthink that Bellinger's movement. I think that's

(49:08):
why his odds to stay in Chicagoare plus one fifty of course, you
know, his odds are still prettyshort to go to other teams like the
Phillies. I think the Yankees Iheard are interested. Um the Astros of
course would would still add of thatlike his if they could, But I

(49:28):
don't know if that many Cubs wantto be on the move. So it's
an interesting thing, um, especiallyconsidering the NLS got so many strong teams.
But you know, this team definitelywants to stick together and hopefully Stroma
can can turn it back around. He's he's an All Star. He just

(49:50):
made the All Star team and inthe two starts since he's been struggling a
little bit. But um, that'sit's a good team. Last one here
for he slow before we gotta letyou go. But I'm just fascinated to
see what ends up happening with theMets at the deadline. Obviously, this
team has far from lived up toexpectations, to the point where now we're
talking about this team potentially being aseller. It's too you know, World

(50:14):
Series winning top of the rotation guyswho are on the older side, You've
justin Verlander, you have Max Scherzer. The guy that really interests me obviously
is Scherzer because he's still on thehook next year for forty plus million dollars
and the landing spot. I reallylike for him, and I felt this
way when I started looking at thesenumbers about a week ago. It's actually

(50:34):
moved from twenty to one to nowthirteen to one. That's the Cincinnati Reds,
a team that you know needs astut experienced pitch or the rotation is
terrible pushing a six team era forits starters. They can afford him,
obviously, they have the prospects toget a deal done, and in all
likelihood they're going to win the divisionand try and make a playoff run.

(50:54):
You talk about exciting teams, theReds are certainly among them. What do
you suppose happens with Scherzer Indoor Verlander? I mean, I would love if
he ended up on the Reds. The Reds have been one of the priority
watches there must must see television. But yeah, like you said, they
do need pitching help beyond uh,you know, Andrew Abbott has been pretty

(51:15):
good. They're they've kind of struggled. But I don't know if it's likely
that he ends up with the Reds. Um it's more likely he might end
up back with the Dodgers. TheRangers will probably make a run at him
because they're they look like they're onepitcher away from from really contending for a
World Series. I think Verlander isgoing to end up with the Giants.

(51:37):
That's been you know, that's beenwidely speculated, and we've heard a lot
of rumors on the twitter verse aboutthat. Um. But yeah, I
think the Mets are definitely selling. And I was watching them before and they
couldn't even get one run off ofthe Nationals for seven innings, and I
think the umpires were so bored theyput the tarp on the field before it

(51:58):
even started rainings. So but yeah, the Mets just they're struggling to put
together runs, and when they doput together runs, they're playing terrible defense
and squandering leads. They don't havea great bullten. They seem to be
reeling ever since they're the closer gother ideas, they seems to be reeling
in the bull ten and they're justgoing nowhere fast. So I think now

(52:22):
as all in is that owners seemto be, I think they're they're gonna
be selling at this point. Alot of great stuff from Sloane pie for
from the Sporting News, of course, tracking what is to happen, what
we are expecting for the MLB tradedeadline, what key players could be on
a move to help contending teams orcontender hopefuls make a run, including of

(52:43):
course our beloved Boston Red Sox.Loan. Thanks so much for hopping on.
Hey, thanks for having me.Appreciate you guys. Absolutely, we'll
talk to you again down the line. We have more baseball on the way,
including building out the People's Parlay. We will do that part in another
little while. But when we return, Charlie to Sterco from Action at work
with some early Friday leans. Staywith us a need event about bad bets.

(53:05):
You've come to the right place, tell us about it. Call six
one seven two six six six eightsix six one seven two six six six
eight six eight, Or if you'relistening on the iHeartRadio app, use the
talkback button. The Gambler with AdamKaufman will be right back after this on
WRKO. Let's keep the baseball conversationgoing with Charlie Disturco, our friend from

(53:30):
Action Network covers of course major Leaguebaseball, bit of college basketball as well.
Are you a Mets fan, Charlie, or are you glued to your
TV while you're talking to us atthe same time. I am a Mets
fan, but the TV is offright now. I'm gonna go dark until
after this conversation and hopefully I lookand see the Mets up by a lot

(53:52):
here and they actually converted. Doesthat mean you want us to avoid updates?
Are you like recording it to goback and watch job now? You
can if you want to, ifyou want to tell me they're doing bad.
There's no surprises on my end,because that's what I'm so. A
couple of things. One, weeven't talked to you in about a month
and a half. How the hellyou been? You know, I've been

(54:15):
better. I've been better outside ofbaseball betting. I think that the last
couple of weeks, I've I've dealtwith some some brutal breaks. I've I've
been some bad ends of some beats. Uh. But you know that's the
that's the baseball for you. It'sJuly. So what do you expect?
You know there's going to be badand good variances throughout. You know what,
I like, Dan, I suspectthat even if we were having that

(54:36):
conversation just you know, with nomicrophones or listeners around. He wasn't on
a gambling program. He probably wouldhave answered the question the exact same way.
Oh definitely. But when like whenyou're a degenerate and you bet all
the time, that's generally what you'rethinking about all the time, especially with
the way that the month of Julyis gone in baseball. Man, I
don't know anybody that's having a goodtime right now. It killed me July.

(54:58):
I killed me. I U Yeah, I was on the side.
I had the phillies the day thatJosan and Marris did that blue pop up
that stayed in the air and theylost it in the sky. I was
on the uh the right Sox lastnight where they Joe Kelly had the drop
strike three and then walked in tworuns and then it was over from there.
And the Cubs one. There's beensome games that I could just keep
going on and on about about whathappened in the last you know, a

(55:21):
couple of weeks. It is remarkablehow we barely remember our wins, but
those losses, oh, those losses, they stay with us. You should
check Charlie out on Twitter by theway at Charlie to Sturco, just you
know the name. There's no addedto middle initials for you know, hyphens
or anything like that. And Itell you that because he is he is
since we last talked to him, changed his Twitter avatar too. Was something

(55:44):
I don't know if you were anextra in a Scorsese film or what is
exactly happening in this film? Thispicture, but I love it. I'm
into it. But you know,I think it's that photo. I capsulate
it's who I am. I wasat a wedding in San Francisco. The
bathrop was great, Trait mode ison and I threw up my classic hand.
Just the money Italian. How you'redoing? You know, you will

(56:07):
be happy to know the Mets havescored two in the eighth to take a
two one lead, and unfortunately theydid leave runners on second and third,
so it is going to the topof the ninth. But you're ahead,
so you've you've come back to yourposition to win. That's that's good for
me. Hopefully Robertson gets the calland nine one of these other bums.
But the thing that we care abouton this show is the under nine and

(56:29):
a half. You know runs,so hopefully first and foremost that hits,
and then you know, after thatwe can root for your team to actually
win out of solidarity with you.We will do our people's parlay in the
next segment. But right now,I'm curious because we got a whole lot
of information available to us for Fridayat this point in time, obviously a
much larger slate than what we hadhere on kind of a weird Thursday where

(56:52):
we had the double header between theAngels and Tigers and then just some scattered
few games in the latter part ofthe day. Tomorrow much more full.
Basically everybody is playing. What aresome of the early favorite picks that you
have right now? Yeah, soI've done done a couple. I'll give
you a one to start, andthen I can give you more after your
reaction. San Diego money line,it's minus one sixty four right now is

(57:15):
the best number, and I stilllike it despite the juice. And you
know, you've watched San Diego andtheir bullpen kind of implode to last a
few weeks. But this is reallyjust a matchup that I'm looking to attack.
Is Dane Dunnings on the mountain forTexas and if you look at him,
he's got a near five expected array, but his actually array is down
in the low threes, right aroundwhere his opponent to a Musco of his,

(57:35):
But they're just totally different pictures.Dane Dunning has a fifteen percent strikeout
rate, he's getting the bottom fivepercent of whiff rate. He's showed some
craphs against the Dodgers. He's gota two sixty nine batting amage of balls
and play that is just keeping himalive. And he's getting these timely double
plays to really get out of jams. But I think when it's all said
and done, he's gonna stuff fornegative aggression. He already did against the

(57:57):
Dodgers, and the perfect time todo it is against the Audre is a
team that likes to take pitches, likes to, you know, see the
and feel the batter out and thepitcher out, and Joe Muscos on the
mountain, and he might actually asgood as Snell has been. Musco has
not gotten any credit despite how dominanthe's been over the last thirty days.
He's eleventh and stuff plus of allpitchers in baseball, and his expected array

(58:19):
is three to eleven and he's givingup a less than a thirty three percent
hard hit rate, so a thirdof all balls on him play are hard
hit, the rest their soft contacts. So similar numbers of the last year
he was dominant this year just asdominant. So at minus one six before,
I project the Padre as heavier favorites, And if you're afraid of the
bullpen, I'm fine with lane thefirst five with at one seventy five two.
What I do think is interesting inthat game. These are obviously early

(58:43):
numbers. You know it'll change quitea bit overnight into the morning. But
looking at some of the draft Kingsplits, seventy seven percent of the money
is on the Rangers plus one anda half eighty eight percent of the handle
on that number for Texas as well. Do you think that, you know,
even if obviously the Padres win onthe money line, like you're talking
about, do you expect the Rangersto keep this close? You know,

(59:06):
it's interesting the I never like tolay run lines because bullpens blow up a
lot. And also San Diego ishome, so they will get one last
at bat in a game that Iexpect them to win. So that always
like makes me a little bit skeezedout of laying that run line as a
as a home favorite. I don'tknow if they keep it that close.
You know, their their offense isgreat, it's fantastic. There's nothing bad

(59:29):
to say about it. But obviouslyCorey Seeger's out there and it's not the
same offense as with as when he'sin it. And obviously last game they
played, they tore apart the Astros. But that's not what I'm gonna expect
here. I think I think Muscrowabsolutely shut it down. I think the
Padres probably cover the run line.Um, but you know, I'm happy

(59:50):
to lay the minus one sixty four, one sixty five whatever it is,
uh, full game and just kindof ride that out behind Muscrow. Red
Sox get back to work tomorrow. They are odds West Coast game in San
Francisco. Cutter Crawford on the moundagainst Logan Webb. What are you expecting
there? Yeah, I'm on onthe Red Sox. Of the first five,
I think this number is a bitdisrespectful the Cutter Crawford, and he's

(01:00:13):
you know, has some signs oflife and improvement in the second half of
the season. Obviously, last startdidn't go as planned against the Mets,
but he did throw a six shutoutagainst the Cubs. And if you look
at his splits, and that's whereI kind of go with this. He's
got a two forty eight road arrayand so he struggles in Fenway, which
makes sense because you know, thewinking get crazy, and then the short

(01:00:35):
and right field and all of thattogether you can give you give you some
issues. But Cutter Crawford, hisnumbers are pretty impressive. He's in the
top twenty five percent of all pitchersand average as of a loss of the
expected batting average, doesn't walk manybatters, and we've seen a strikeout rate
kind of increase ever since he's kindof become in this starting job. Obviously
he worked out of the pen fora decent amount of time, but since

(01:00:57):
June has really taken it over andforty I think it's worth the stat of
the Red Sox have a top fiveoffense in baseball over the last thirty days.
I'm sure you guys are well awareof that. And the Giants,
they're the opposite. One of myfriends and the Giant Buddy Giants fan says
take their team total under every singletime because they're dead last in WRC plus
of the last thirty days and LoganWebb he won't get torn apart like he

(01:01:17):
did against the Nationals last time out, but he's in the bottom fifteen percent
of all pitchers in hard hit rightnavagacs and velocity. He has a lot
of strikeouts, but he actually doesn'tget a lot of swings and misses,
which you'd be Fries about bottom quarterof all pitchers and whiff rates. So
I just think this game is closerto a coin flip the fight the fast.
Being at home and playing in abigger park for Crawford is huge because

(01:01:39):
you know his groundball rates sub fortypercent, so he's not like a dominant
groundball pitcher, so in a biggerpark, I think the Red Sox have
the advantage here, especially with howwell they've been running the last few weeks.
Charlie, what are you expecting outof Lucas Giolito in his first start
with the Angels Friday night? They'rein Toronto. They're pretty big dogs plus
one eighty Toronto's favorite there minus twofifteen on the online Any value there you

(01:02:00):
like with Giolito and his k propis five and a half, by the
way, that's that's interesting. Ido I think, I like I have
a look deeper into the strikeouts, but that is a number that kind of
popped out to me a little bit. I do think that they're undervalued here
a bit. I don't know ifI'm going to pull the trigger, if
I have the heart to pull thetrigger, given the fact that the Aims
have worked back to back, youknow, on a double header today and

(01:02:22):
now they're heading out for another game. But you know, I don't mind
it. Zugasiolido. I'm more actuallykeen on than the majority. I think
that, like we've he used tobe a pitcher that you could fade plenty
of times over the last uh,you know, a few seasons, and
he's really kind of improved, especiallywith his strikeout rate and the swings and
misses. He's really generating a lotmore compared to years past. And you

(01:02:45):
know, I haven't given two deepinto it, but there is some concerns
with the Godsman from time to timethat obviously that three one eight ear ay
is impressive, but he gives upa lot of barrels. He's in the
bottom ten percent of all pitchers inbarrel right, and he's given a four
home runs his last start out. He's been prone and along ball at times
before. So I think the Angelsare a little under value. I definitely

(01:03:07):
think that, Like, if you'regoing to be aside in this matchup,
it's Los Angeles. I just amwaiting to see, you know, lineups
because Otani left with cramps, uhand just if I mean, if he
doesn't play, I don't know ifyou really can make a bet on them.
But in general, just waiting tosee how that game kind of moves
and the market goes there. Butdo think the Angels are a little bit

(01:03:29):
of value. Listening Game one todayshow, Hey, Otani had a complete
game, one hit shutout. Inthe second game he homered twice. I
refuse to believe that anything impacts him. I don't. I think these completely
made up. You know, youmight think that, I you know,
he just seems to, uh dowonders after wonders, and I'm sure,

(01:03:50):
like you know, if you pitchednine innings and then hit two home runs,
you'd be trapping up just yeah, honestly you probably would need to be
Would you be able to hit thetwo home runs? You'd be on the
you'd have nine huffing and puffing arenot able to pick games or play game
two doesn't have cramps, he's justfatigued. All right, we have got
to go, but People's Parlay withCharlie disturco. When we return, and
we may be in position for backto back winners. We'll let you know

(01:04:14):
when we come back. Sick andtired of bold sports talk and want to
get right into the action. TheGambler with Adam Kaufman, as you covered,
call us now with six one seventwo six six six eight six eight.
That's six one seven two six sixsix eight six eight. The Gambler
with Adam Kaufman will be right backafter this on w r KO. Let's

(01:04:38):
hear it, DJ, let's hearit. That's right, I know it's
it's not as it's it's not asboombastic as you'd like to like to feel.
But another one dah, there areright I feel, but give me
one more dah. Thank you.It just like I could see the cash
register we have converted on the People'sParlay. Thy the lord needed it because

(01:05:02):
yeah, there there'd been a lotof two out of threes or or obviously
you know worse. But but we'reon the cusp. We needed the parlay,
so uh for anyone that that rodewith us, awesome, good for
you. Under nine and a halfruns in the National's Mets game over nine
which cleared with these in the CubsCardinals game, both of those cleared.
In fact, all of these clearedwith ease. I had the minus three

(01:05:25):
and a half points in the Sparksgame to beat the fever. So a
three and oh today for official showPicks brings us to now an overall show
record of seventy seven fifty three andtwo. We are up fourteen units.
Folks, tail us, be withus, ride with our experts, not
to mention me and Dan as well, and we will see if in this

(01:05:46):
this is this is a show numberfifty of The Gambler with Adam Coffman,
we have we have hit the halfcentury mark. Dan, this is show
number fifty. Hopefully Show number fiftyproduces yet another successful people's parlay to take
us into the weekend. Tomorrow wewill find out Charlie Distort goes here with
us from Action Network. After allthat no pressure, right, Yeah,

(01:06:06):
you know, I'm just glad themes cup that win and you guys got
that people far like now, Igot a lot to live up to,
especially for your fiftieth episode, Iknow. So let's see if we can
do it. You know how thisworks. You've done it with us before.
You are required to play it obviously, so that we can all text
tomorrow and celebrate. Hopefully, Let'sfind out what is your I know you've
given us some picks so far.Maybe it's one of these that you already

(01:06:30):
mentioned. Maybe it's not. Ihave no idea. What is your favorite
pick for tomorrow's and I assume it'sbaseball, doesn't have to be. I
don't want to close your mind offto other things. Your favorite pick for
the people's parlay? Yeah, okay, so gay you give me you just
tell me. I have two picksthat I'm between. You tell me if
you want it over under minus onefifteen. Oh, I mean, I

(01:06:51):
just want whichever one you have themost conviction, and I'm not so much
concerned with what the line is.Okay, then then I'm gonna go.
If you if you had to absolutelypick one that is going to hit among
the two, which one do youlike? The padres tomorrow? I just
think that this is a game thatyou It is a slam spot for San
Diego. They're on their last legsand this is their last chance to really

(01:07:15):
play before the trade deadline, andwithout Corey Seeger and Dane Dunning on the
mound, who I've obviously, thelast segment discussed on why I expect a
lot of thinkative aggressions from him.I think the Padres are gonna roll to
victory. I'll go instead of goingfull game, I'll do first five innings
minus one seventy five to anchor thepeople's far light man. And I'm seeing

(01:07:38):
on fan duel minus one eighty four, big, big numb. Well that
means I'm not even seeing first fiveup on DraftKings right now. I see
first three minus. I see minusone seventy five at three sixty five and
batt rivers. Okay, I seeminus one eighty four for the first five
on fan duel, and full gameis minus one seventy four. So long

(01:08:00):
number obviously in either case. Butyeah, yes, you know, yeah,
I'll want the anchor. You getyour trust, you get the anchor
in, and then you guys cankind of come in boost it a little
bit, and then and then we'reon a roll. There we go.
So we're going first five or fullgame because of the because of the lines
jumping up all over in the limitedavailability on first five, Let's do full

(01:08:20):
game. Okay, very good, full and full game? All right,
Dan, what are you looking at? So I've been having a tough time
with this when I've been searching, scouring, and I finally found something that
jumped out to me, and thatis our Boston Red Sox. Their team
total tomorrow night in San Francisco isjust three and a half. Now,
I know they're going against Logan Webb, who's very very very good. He's

(01:08:42):
very very good at home as well. But the Socks have scored four or
more runs in six straight games infifteen out of the last sixteen. They've
done that against start. They've donethat against starters including Nathan Vivaldi, Justin
Steele, Marcus stroman Nex Scherzer's mostrecently Spencer Strider. Now that they scored
all those runs against those pitch butthey eventually worked their way to the bullpen
and hopefully they can do that againtomorrow. So give me the Red Sox

(01:09:04):
over three and a half for theteam total and very close to an even
money pick right there. Obviously, excuse me, pardon me over three and
a half runs for the Red Sox. All right, well, Dan,
I'm gonna I'm gonna ask you whatI asked you last night. I've been
riding in the women's basketball space withthese people's parlay picks. I have hit

(01:09:26):
these haven't been all WNBA, butI have, you know, knock on
wood, I've that it continues.I've hit my last five here contributions to
the people's parlay. Do I continueliving in the women's basketball I think he
got it, and I think Ialso got to give you an because that
seemed to work this week when Iwhen I doubt you, So come on,
just just give the pick out,all right. So here's what I'm

(01:09:48):
gonna do. I'm not it tiesin somewhat to my bankroll repair pick earlier,
although they we've looks like we've gota trade. By the way,
it looks like the Mets Cordin tocanro Wasn't all the Mets are dealing David
Robertson to the Marlins inter division? How are you feeling about that, Charlie?
Being the Mets fan, you know, I was danging can we sell

(01:10:12):
everybody, even Max Scherzer and anyoneelse that we can to just gear up
for next year. So I'm,you know, it's i'd say this.
I'll leave it at this. I'verarely ever seen and I'm, you know,
twenty six, twenty seven years old. I've rarely ever seen the Mets
cell to the Miami Marlins or andthis is first or mate. Interesting,
I'm trying to think back, Igot nothing. Yeah, I can't even

(01:10:33):
come up with a weird with aweird trade. So going back to the
people's part, like I am goingto go w NBA, I'm going to
look at that eight pm Eastern gameWashington Mystics and Dallas Wings, and I
am going over I'm going over onesixty four and a half points. I
am seeing it at right now atthe It's Dallas scores like crazy Washington despite

(01:10:58):
some injuries right now, so Ihave read anyway, still finding a way
to put up points. And thisis a game that very much the sharps
are on, the public's on,everybody is on the over one sixty four
and a half. I think itmay may be even opened. Right around
one sixty three. It's climbed alittle bit. Nevertheless, still like it
over one sixty five and a halfpoints mystics wings w NBA tomorrow night.

(01:11:19):
So you put that with Padres juicedup money line over three and a half
red Sox total runs in San Francisco. That gives me plus four eighty two
with this people's parlay, Yeah, forty two, I got four seventy eight
four if you go, if youuse Caesars four ninety two. Oh all

(01:11:43):
right, see this is why youshop around folks. Absolutely where were you
at? Dan DraftKings for seventy eightA draft Kings yea four seventy eight DraftKings
for eighty two on fan duel andfor ninety whatever Charlie said on Caesar's So
there you go, love it.Let's make sure we let's let's cash,
let's cash and show number fifty.Let's say yeah, let's take a two

(01:12:04):
in a row. Love it?Placing the bet right now, Charlie Distortco
from Action Network. Charlie, alwaysfun having you on man. We will
do it again real soon for sureand hopefully we will something to celebrate tomorrow
night, Yes, sir, pleasureas always, guys, Thank you,
Thanks Charlie brother we'll talk to youagain next time for sure. Okay,
all right, thank I I canI feel like I can breathe again a

(01:12:27):
little bit after a successful parlay onthis show about time. Man like God
even intervene tonight, trying to tryingto stop us. That's that's how how
how bad it's been. Yeah, and despite uh, we'll look at the
Mets. Did the Mets use Robertsonto get that save and then they just
shipped them off? I didn't seewho was on the mat. Let me
pull up the box box entirely realquick. Uh no, they did not.

(01:12:49):
Okay, they did not use himtonight. I mean now I guess
now we understand why? Right,Yeah, No, I've been Actually well,
you guys were just talking there.I was looking through Marlin's Mets trade,
his three A lot of big namesgoing from Miami to New York,
but not so much the other wayaround. I am glad you included the
Red Sox in the people's parlay.By the way, I number just jumped

(01:13:11):
out to me three and a halfthat, like Charlie said, there's some
disrespect on the socks tomorrow night.I know Logan Web's good, but socks
bats are on fire right now.It does seem like a lot of people.
Maybe it's just because the money areon the Socks first five on the
Sox money line, but that isnot impactful for the people's parlay. We
just scored to score some runs.We will talk more about that game and
the rest of the slate and what'sto come this weekend when we return,

(01:13:32):
when we put the show to bed. Need a venta bad bad bets?
You've come to the right place.Tell us about it. Call six one
seven two six six six eight sixsix one seven two six six six eight
six eight, or if you're listeningon the iHeartRadio app, use the talkback
button. The Gambler with Adam Kaufmanwill be right back after this on WRKO.

(01:13:58):
Wow, it's time to put theshow to bed with Mike Fellow,
I'll be opt man. This isprobably a very unhealthy thing to say,
but it's amazing how much better Ifeel, just just mentally when we hit
a parlay that bad. Huh.It's just it's just really it really swings

(01:14:24):
my night. Not like I'm nothaving a bad night, and I wouldn't
be having a you know, I'mnot gonna like cry myself to sleep if
we didn't hit it. But itjust it's it's that, it's that Pixie
dust Man, It's it just itswings me to another level of enthusiasm when
we convert on the people's parlay.Good, let's hit two. Let's hit
two be nice. It would benice. Two parlays a week would be

(01:14:45):
very nice. Nice to see aguest like come through. Yes, yeah,
we needed that. So hopefully thesestart hitting more often. I like
Charlie Speck a lot tomorrow too.Yeah, yeah, and uh he is,
he's I hope his hits almost hewas very confident in it, so
it should you brought it up intwo segments. I know, well,
I almost hope his hits more thanI hope even I mean, I hope
they all hit. But if Ihad to pick, I'm rooting for his

(01:15:08):
more than anyone's because his will crushus units wise. If yeah, in
fact, it doesn't. So that'sa you know, that's that's a long
odds one here, So hopefully itdoes play out obviously for us. Yeah,
what are you looking ahead to totomorrow beyond some of the stuff that
we've been talking about. So acouple of the things that have jumped out

(01:15:30):
on me here or jumped out atme here. If you go back to
this Braves game and you go tothe first five, you take the Braves
on the run line there. Soit's just to be leading after five.
It's a minus one twenty. Notbad. I mean, I think Atlanta
is overdue for a win after therough rough two games they had here at
Fenway taking on Milwaukee. Adrian Houserdid just beat him over the weekend,
So now they get them in Atlanta, which I think things should go a

(01:15:51):
little differently. Shane mcclanahan's on nowfor Tampa, always interested when he is
pitching. They are going against Houstonthough, so that has me a little
hesitant. But two other plays whichI mentioned when Sloan was on, I
kind of like these two futures onthese two Cubs guys, which are basically
like I think, look at itlike it's a like it's a golf future
almost Because this is four days away, they just got to be on the

(01:16:13):
team, you know, Tuesday atfour h one or whatever the deadline is
now. So plus one fifty onBellinger just be a Cub and plus two
hundred on Stroman to be a cubafter the trade deadline. Like I mentioned,
the Cubs won six in a row. They won eight out of their
last nine, four games back inthe wild card, five and a half
in the division. So maybe theCubbies try to buy at the deadline,

(01:16:34):
it would be interesting. We didn't. We didn't delve deep either into the
Pondres. I know he mentioned yeah, Blake, now he mentioned Soto Snell,
but we didn't. Really The biggerquestion is will the Padres. You
know, Blake Snell had the questionthe comments just a few days ago about
how he believes that they're gonna bebuyers, right, I mean, I

(01:16:56):
just don't see it right now withthe way they they're they're playing. Let
me pull up the standing here realquick. So the division race, that's
pretty much there, ten games out, that's pretty much over. They're not
going to catch la best odds forSnell for hater and six and a half
wild card, and they got threeteams ahead of them. The Cubs jumped
them recently. Yeah, I mean, haters like the the it's it's minus

(01:17:21):
one fifty that he's a Pondre stilland then you getting obviously big plus odds
that he's traded away. We're thesocks on that same story for for Blake
Snell, by the way, forHayter. Yeah, Red Sox are not
even listed, not even listed,Okay, I mean I think I think
if the Red Sox do anything,it's gonna be for a relief pitcher.
But Red Sox are only listed. They're the Snell one. They're not on

(01:17:45):
Snell No, no, they ohtaken off. Yeah they were. Yeah,
they're not anymore. No. Ionly see the socks uh twenty five
to one for Justin Verlander, andthat'd be something. Yeah, there's no
way they're paying that uh twenty toone for Tim Anderson. I think those
are the only two places I evensee the Red Sox. Yeah, and

(01:18:08):
I don't I don't think the TimAnderson thing is going to happen because stories
coming back right. Well, actually, you can get on Stroman, you
can get any other team at plusfifteen hundred. Oh that's true. Well,
yeah, you can do that fora few guys, I think,
right, I think for I thinkfor all of them. Actually, I
think it's listed there. Yeah,I don't know that. Paul Goldschmidt a

(01:18:29):
little rumbling there kind of caught meoff guard because I don't think there's any
way Heimbloom would ever part with TristanKasas right now, well and in Saint
Louis the and whatever that cappened, whatever, not saying that that they're not
dealing any of their core pieces, which Goldschmidt is a part of anyway.
Now it's it's lying season, sowho knows, but that is the that's

(01:18:50):
that's the belief anyway. Um,were you talked into any football futures earlier?
Uh no, but that has nothingto do with the content. It's
just I don't I don't know.I don't have the patience for few us.
That's you know, there were plentyof ones that I could be talked
into if I wanted to have itjust sit there in my bet slip for

(01:19:12):
months. But that annoys me,even just a four day golf sweat,
seeing that sitting in my bet slipfrom for you know, that period of
time gets on my nerves. Souh no, probably not, but maybe
at some point in time I willchange my tune in that. Nevertheless,
we got to call it a week, I guess, and then hopefully we
are bragging about successful bets tomorrow butthanks to a great lineup of guests that

(01:19:34):
