Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is WBZ, Boston's news radio, redefining local news.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Low clouds in Boston. It's eleven o'clock forty nine degrees
on this Thursday morning. Good to be with you. I'm
Nicole Davis. Here is what's happening starting in Washington, where
a long awaited House vote on a release of the
Epstein files appears to be in the work. A petition
to force a roll call on the floor has gotten
the necessary amount of signatures. There's ABC Stephen Port nine.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
After unsuccessfully applying pressure on a handful of GOP colleagues
to keep their names off a petition that would force
a vote, Speaker Mike Johnson says he'll put the Epstein
Files bill on the floor next week. It could pass
the House, but even if it does, there's no guarantee
it would be put to a vote in the Senate,
and even if it passed both houses, there's no guarantee
President Trump would sign it.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Newly sworn in Democratic Arizona Congressman Atlita Griholva was the
final signature needed to push that petition forward. Meantime, the
government shutdown is officially over. Forty three days later. President
Trump last night signing a funding bill to reopen the government.
Most Democrats opposed it, though, because it did not address
the key issue for them, the rising cost of health care.
(01:11):
Your CBS is Nicole keillyam.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
The measure extends government funding through January thirtieth, pays back
federal workers while reinstating those who were fired, and guarantees
snap or food assistant benefits for a full year.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
I will be casting my vote. I say no. In fact,
there will be a hell though. Vote yes.
Speaker 5 (01:30):
If not, you're the ones that are taking money from
needy families.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Democrats largely opposed the legislation, arguing it failed to extend
Affordable Care Act tax credits for twenty million Americans facing
rising health insurance premiums.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
And as the government reopens, the FAA says it will
hold off on increasing those flight cuts. Wbz's James Rojas
checkson from Logan.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
It may take some time for flight operations to return
to normal, but in theory, flight disruptions shouldn't get much worse.
The FAA has paused its plan to increase air traffic
reductions at six percent. It means a lot for those
traveling now and maybe during the holiday season.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
That's good news.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
People need to get back home. Do you have more
travel do you have more plans to like, I guess
come back for yes, yes, I was.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I was actually dread and traveling because of you know,
all the interruptions.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Still, folks can't help but feel uneasy about their flights
getting delayed or canceled.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
We just paid three hundred dollars, so we didn't We
just did a straight roof instead of doing the layover
because I'm like, what if we get there and then
they canceled the layover while.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
We're in the layover, I'm like, hell malicious.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Go sugar. At Terminal A James Rojas WBZ Boston's News Radio.

some clouds out there today, could see the occasional flurry,
maybe a light shower or two. Looking at the radar
right now, I'm seeing most of those on the Capan Islands,
especially over Nantucket and the Vineyard and really west of
the Quabbin. We're seeing some rain out there along I
(03:24):
ninety one in the Springfield area. Bit of a mixed
situation in the Berkshars, but right now here in the
Boston area, plenty of clouds. We have that breeze as well.

bit warmer than it was yesterday. For tonight breeze, plenty

conditions of the court.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Brown is accused of grabbing a gun from a security
guard outside a celebrity boxing match in Miami back in
May and firing shots at a man he was fighting with.
He's arrested last week in Dubai. If he's convicted, he
could spend up to fifteen years in jail. And yesterday
you might remember we told you about a little alligator,
a baby alligator found swimming in the Charles And we're
(05:53):
not talking about a Charles River in Florida. We're talking
about the one here in Boston and Cambridge. Good news
that gator has now been rescued. You can imagine it's
a little too cold outside for a baby alligator. Animal
educator Joseph Kenney of Joe's Crazy Critters saw video of
the gator and drove up from Abington to go find him,
not because the alligator is dangerous, but because this chilly
(06:16):
weather is dangerous to the baby alligator. Kenny says he
was able to find the gator within ten fifteen minutes
or so. Now he is keeping him warm and housed,
nursing him until they can figure out what comes next.
You are now in the league. For news updates throughout
