Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is w b Zeen News Radio where Boston gets
the news, an iHeartRadio station.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Forty one degrees in Boston. It's eleven o'clock. Good morning.
I'm Nicole Davis. Here's what's happening. House Democrats on Capitol
Hill have released a new series of emails from disgraced
sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including those that reference President Trump
and what the president knew about Epstein's crimes. Here's ABC's
j O'Brien.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Bombshell release of what House Democrats say are emails to
and from deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, several referring
to President Donald Trump by name. In an April twenty
eleven email released by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee,
lawmakers say Epstein wrote to his now convicted accomplice, Gilenn Maxwell,

(00:51):
three years after pleading guilty to sex crimes involving a minor,
telling her, I want you to realize that that dog
that hasn't barked is Trump.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Republic on the House Oversight Committee this morning, saying in
a statement that Democrats are cherry picking documents to quote
generate clickbait. Meantime, it is a busy day in the
House as they get ready to vote this afternoon on
a bill that could end the government shutdown. ABC. Stephen
Portnoy has more on what's in it.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
The bill funds all of the federal government through January thirtieth,
and select portions of it through the end of September.
Those to be fully funded include the Department of Veterans Affairs,
military construction projects, the Department of Agriculture, the SNAP Food
Assistants program within it, and importantly to those on Capitol Hill,
the offices of members of Congress. That means if there
were to be another government shutdown at the end of January,

(01:38):
congressional aids would keep getting paid.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Meantime, the Supreme Court is handing a legal victory to
the White House over SNAP.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Millions of Americans who rely on the federal Food Assistants
Program SNAP had been hanging in limbo during this shutdown.
The Supreme Court weighing in as the shutdown is nearing
an end, extending an order that allows the Trump administration
not to fully or immediately pay out those SNAP benefits
for the month of November, but once Congress passes this
bill and reopens the government, those benefits will start flowing

(02:05):
again to American That is.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
ABC's Rachel Scott now Here in Massachusetts, Governor more Healy
says the state has been paying out full benefits for
the past few days after a federal judge in Rhode
Island ordered the federal government to fully fund that program.
And for the rest of the afternoon, we will see
some clouds. There's also a chance you could be seeing
some very light showers, more like a drizzle situation, maybe

(02:27):
some flurries too. We are seeing that in the radar here,
mostly in southeastern New Hampshire on the sea coast cape,
and you're seeing a bit of activity, very light again,
nothing that's really getting in the way Central Massachusetts, if
you're in places like Southbridge and Sturbridge, you're seeing some
snow and in the Berkshiars once again today. It was
a beautiful day out there yesterday from what I saw.

(02:49):
You're seeing some flurries again as well. We have a
high in the mid forties today, but with the wind,
it's feeling much cooler in the thirties then for tonight,
partly to mostly cloudy, breezy. We've got a low in
the mid to upper thirties, low forties if you're on
the Cape and Islands. Then for tomorrow, clouds and sun,
breezy and high just about fifty. Friday, we've got more
of the same and we've got a high in the

(03:11):
upper forties. Some rain is coming in for the weekend.
Right now in Framingham we're at forty one degrees. Some
light showers in Ipswich forty two soull the Boston, a
little bit of rain on the Cape in mash p
forty five. In Boston right now at eleven oh five,
it is overcast and forty one. Well this afternoon, a
legendary NFL tight end is officially coming home to Foxborough

(03:34):
and retiring as a Patriot. Wbz's Jim McKay has that story.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
He broke the news this past Sunday as part of
the NFL on Fox pregame show.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Here's some news first, everyone, I am signing a one
day contract with the Patriots.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
This week, coming up to retire as a Patriot, be
a Patriot for life.

Speaker 5 (03:51):
Rob Gronkowski making it official later today with a press
conference and ceremonial one day contract signing to retire as
a member of the Patriots Operation for This one day
contract signing comes after the death of Susan Hurley, a
local philanthropist who worked with Cronkowski over the years and
helped open up a new playground at Boston earlier this year.
She passed away from cancer back on November first, at

(04:13):
the age of sixty two. Kronk is now fulfilling that
wished to retire as a Patriot in her honor. Jim
McKay w b Z, Boston's news.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Radio, speaking of the Pats, former head coach Bill Belichick,
of course, now heading up the team at UNC, has
heard some rumors. We're talking about rumors about the Giants,
and rumors that he Bill Belichick might be wanting to
become head coach.

Speaker 6 (04:36):
I mean, I've been asked about it from time to time,
but yeah, look, I've been doing this real before. I'm
focused on the way for us. That's it, and that's
my commitment of this team, and next week it'll be
to our next opponent and so forth.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
The Giants fired their head coach, Brian Dable back on Monday.
We're also learning more today about what led up to
that plane crash in dark Myth last month in the
middle of the morning Rush hour a small plane crashing
on one ninety five. A new report from the NTSB
out this week says the pilot was trying to go
back to the airport when the plane went down. Shortly
after takeoff. Tom and Agatha Perkins, a couple from Rhode Island,

(05:15):
were in the plane. They were heading out to Wisconsin.
Tom was flying. He had just taken off from the
new Bedford Airport. Just moments after they took off, Tom
told air traffic control he had to come back. He
said he didn't need assistance, but about a minute later,
air traffic control said he was flying too low. Then
after what air traffic Control says was a quote unintelligible exclamation,

(05:36):
the plane crashed and if at first you don't succeed,
try try again. That is what NASA and Blue Origin
are doing today. They are trying to send a giant
rocket to Mars.

Speaker 7 (05:47):
The two ash capage spacecraft will study Mars his weather.
You see, Berkeley Principal investigator doctor Rob Lillis, the magnetic.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
Field can get stronger, the speak can get higher, the
density can get higher, and all those things have an
effect on the Martian atmosphere.

Speaker 7 (06:01):
Litla says all of that could affect future Mars exploration.
The Escapade spacecraft are on top of a powerful Blue
Origin New Glen rocket. It's a three hundred and twenty
two foot tall launch vehicle making just its second flight.
Sunday's launch was scrubbed due to bad weather. Despite restricting
most launches to overnight hours during the government shutdown, the
FAA is allowing NASA and Blue Origin to try again

(06:22):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
