Speaker 4 (01:33):
There's been a lot to talk about the cost of
a turkey, Jeffrey. It's definitive. Report from the American Farm
Bureers suggests it's not going to be that bad this year.
The group says the average cost of putting on a
feast for ten people turkey, all the fixins as well
as dessert going to be about fifty five bucks in change.
That's about five dollars fifty cents a person. A third
year in a row now of price declines, and the
group says it all varies by region, but this will
(01:55):
be nowhere near the record setting price tag of sixty
four bucks a pop three years ago. Katherine, this turkey
tastes half as good as it looks.
Speaker 2 (02:03):

NOI it's a must play every year. One week from today,
people ready set go. Tourism officials that meet Boston want
to meet more of you. The organization launches a new
campaign designed to tap into the possibility of bringing more
major events to the city. The Greater Boston Sports Commission
is born, and it hopes to build on the pending
(02:37):
success of next summer's FIFA World Cup matches at Jillette Stadium.
The Globe reports the billion dollars in economic activity the
World Cup matches will bring to the area are too
much to pass up, so the panel will look at
ways to go back to the well time and time
again to tap into the potential of the nation's most
renowned sports city. Making friends and influencing people may now
(02:58):
come with a cost.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Paying for friends. Would you do it? You wouldn't. Maybe
trust a friend that you're paying to hang out with you?
Speaker 5 (03:06):
Absolutely not. They have different intentions. They're motivated by money.
I don't need well, I do need people like that
in my life.
Speaker 6 (03:12):

get a job and keep it and.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Hold on to it.
Speaker 6 (03:25):
There's monthly subscription services that group like minded people together,
sort of like Hinge or Tinder, and there's others that
offer activities like aquarium visits, bowling to give people the
opportunity to make connections, so it's not like you're cutting
a check after a casual night at the bart to
the person next to you. But still Bostonians think there's better,
more cost free options.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
I don't know if I would pay for it so
much as like join a meetup or something that's free.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
At the common. Jay Will at WBZ, Boston's news radio.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
A lot of readings in the twenties on the map
this morning. In fact, here in Boston it is just
thirty two degrees and again the wind is a non
factor this morning, so we're in relatively decent shape. I
guess it's just colder than it should be this time
of year. Right again today mix the clouds and sun,
otherwise fairly calm, high temperatures will be in the mid forties,
and that's below average by about five or six degrees.
(04:13):
A few clouds around tonight, especially later on again back
into the twenties and thirties overnight tomorrow, a little bit
of a warming trend arrives in Boston. Finally, we'll get
right back to our wheelhouse in the low fifties tomorrow,
with more clouds, maybe a little bit of sun There
is a slight chance of some shower activity arriving overnight,
and that'll mainly be south of Boston. Any clouds overnight
(04:35):
on Friday will continue into early Saturday, and then we'll
see some sunshine. It's going to be breezy again with
a higher round fifty and pretty much the same story
for Sunday to wrap up the weekend as well. Right now,
it's just thirty two. Let's call it mostly cloudy as
we get set for sunrise here in Boston on this
Thursday morning, it's six oh five. After fast action in Congress,
(04:55):
President Trump signs the bill to release the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Comes twenty four four hours after the bill was overwhelmingly
approved by Congress, despite lawmakers saying they want the files released.
It's unclear whether the public will see many of the
files or how complete they'll be. Attorney General Pam Bondi
refused to say on Wednesday how the process will play
out and what the Trump administration could decide to not release.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
We will continue to follow the law with maximum transparency
while protecting victims.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Even with President Trump's signature, the Justice Department will have
thirty days to make the files public.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
That's ABC's Alex Stone. The prosecution of former FBI director
James Comy is on even shakier ground this morning, after
the Trump appointed US attorney leading that case admits the
grand jury never saw the final revision of the indictment.
Lindsay Halligan asked by the judge to explain herself during
a court hearing. Lawyers for Komy call for case dismissed
(05:51):
on grounds it's nothing more than a vendetta by the
President fueled by hatred of Comy. Comy is accused of
lying to and obstruction of Congress in a case connected
to the Russian election meddling allegations of twenty sixteen. He
is pleaded not guilty, while calling for these charges to
be dropped. New report this morning suggests border patrol agents
(06:11):
are becoming more aggressive in their work that takes them
increasingly further away from the nation's borders. An investigation by
the Associated Press finds millions of American drivers are being
tracked for suspicious driving habits, with many being stopped, searched,
and even arrested. Their report shows an extensive camera network
is being used and deployed more frequently to expand President
(06:33):
Trump's immigration and deportation policies. And a contestant of the
Miss Universe pageant takes a big tumble as.
Speaker 7 (06:41):
She was sauntering off the stage in a glittering orange
gown after her own introduction out a preliminary round, Miss
Jamaica stepped off the edge of the dark runway and
plunged to the floor. Audience members jumped out of their
seats to try to help Gabrielle Henry, who's a doctor
herself of ophthalmology. Footage posted to social media shows her
being carried away on a stretcher. The Miss Universe Jamaica
(07:02):
organization says she was rushed to the hospital. The group
says she didn't break any bones and her injuries are
not life threatening. No word on whether doctor Henry will
make it back for tomorrow's final round. Deborah Rodriguez, CBS News.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
