Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is WBZY, Boston's news radio, redefining local news. Hey,
what are you worried about? It's Tuesday already here in Boston,
six o'clock, clear skies and a chilly thirty seven degrees
out the door Here in the city. The News at
six has brought to us by You're a New England

(00:21):
Toyota dealer, your hybrid all wheel drive headquarters. Thanks for
being with us on this Tuesday morning. I'm Jeff Brown.
There's not much to see here, mostly Sunday day.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Today.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
It'll be breezy with highs reaching the upper footy and
is WBZ ACTU weather meteorologist Joe Lundberg. Still below average
temperatures though by and large this week, even before we
slice the Thanksgiving turkey, Boston's Christmas Tree comes to town.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Not to be a scrooge, because who doesn't love a
beautiful Christmas tree, But I'm a little surprised.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Well here on the Common. It's fond memories of the
tree lighting of a spruce that's cut down in Nova
Scotia and shipped here every year.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
It's amazing.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Also, for the first time ever, a Boston mayor helped
cut it down.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
MARYA.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Michelle wu ceremoniously digging in a chainsaw.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
They're really pretty. But in today's day and age, how
often are we going to keep cutting all these trees
down for like a two week celebrate, you know what
I mean, like cutting down Christmas trees for like, you know,
to have them in our homes for a month.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
It's a tradition that was born out of tragedy Canadians
thanking Boston for the supplies. It's sent to the site
of the mass fatal Halifax Harbor explosion of nineteen seventeen.
Today it's a sight to behold.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
The lights flicker.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
On December fourth at the Common Jablelet WBZ, Boston's news.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Radio ruins flatline at the Garden. They lose to the Hurricanes.
A West coast trip is up next. It'll start in
Anaheim tomorrow night. Celtics are also hitting the highway. They're
in Brooklyn tonight they'll take on the nets. And Week
eleven and the NFL comes to a close as the
Cowboys flatten the Raiders in Las Vegas. The white hot
spotlight from Capitol Hill shines brightly on Major League Baseball,

(01:52):
and it's not good. WBC's Drew moholland is here with
an update. Good morning, Andrew, morning.

Speaker 5 (01:56):
Jeffreys. SENEC committee says it's going to investigate the sport's
recent betting scandal after two pitchers with the Cleveland Guardians
face charges of tipping pitches during games. Both Emmanuel Class
and Luis Ortiza pleted not guilty. Senators called this an
integrity crisis in American sports. And as you know, Jeffrey,
betting scandals have erupted of late in the NBA and
the NFL.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Too, seems to be a pattern, Druth, thank you. The
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office is investigating a new claim
of sexual battery against Sean Ditty Combs. The allegation stem
from a warehouse party about a decade ago, during which
a male worker claims Diddy attacked him. Official say the
man had not come forward until recently due to embarrassment,

(02:37):
but was convinced to launch allegations after the hip hop
legend was convicted and sentenced to four years on prostitution
related charges. Medical professionals highly recommend this year's flu vaccine.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
The American College of Physicians recommends the standard vaccine for
eighteen to sixty four year olds at a higher dose
vaccine for older people, but unlike previous years, the group
did not work with the Centers for Disease Control ACP
president doctor Jason Goldman.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
This current vaccine committee that Secretary Candy created is not
in accord with standard process or how things should be done.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Goldman says it's way too early to gauge the vaccine's effectiveness,
but getting it reduces the chance of serious cases, hospitalizations,
and possibly death. Peter King's CBS.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
News experts do caution that a strain of influenza now
making the rounds overseas is new and likely not protected
by this year's shot. He begins with another great looking
sunrise here in Boston. It is a chilly thirty seven degrees.
We do have winds coming in at US around twenty
five miles per hour this morning, so it still feels
like it's in the low twenties as we get our

(03:43):
engines going on this Tuesday morning. Overall, this is not
going to be a bad day. The winds will not
be as strong as yesterday, but they'll still be there,
which will make the air temperature feel a heck of
a lot cooler. Today. Once again, we're below average, with
a high temperature only in the mid tow upper forties.
Overnight clear and cold, twenty and thirties again, mixture of
some sun and clouds. Tomorrow pretty much the same day

(04:04):
tomorrow as today, with even less wind, highs again in
the mid forties. We look for clouds mixing with sun
again on Thursday. So this pattern continues for much of
the rest of the work week. The only exception might
be Friday. On two counts, tempts will jump into the
low fifties, and there's a chance of more clouds in
the possibility of showers later in the day. Right now

(04:24):
in Boston, no chance of rain at sunrise in the city.
It's a gorgeous start, clear skies, cold, thirty seven here
in Boston, six oh six on this Tuesday morning, all
teed up on Capitol Hill, where the House of Representatives
is expected to vote today to release all of the
Epstein files. House is going over. The said it's going
to over, and Trump says he's going to sign it.
But we really can't be so sure that all those

(04:46):
documents are going to be released.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
And then if the Department of Justice.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
By the way, says that they're going to release all
the documents. How do we know that that's the full
trove of information. I think it's going to be.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Hard to tell.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
That's ABC's Catherine fall the The President says, there's no
there there, and he's got nothing to hide. Meantime, the
President promises delivered to deliver two thousand dollars payments to
millions of American families, and he says he'll do it
by the middle of next year. The money is coming
from his global tariff policy, which the President says has
made trillions of dollars for the United States already, though

(05:21):
others in the administration says it's not about the money,
it's about getting American consumers to buy from American companies
again where there are no tariffs. Treasury Secretary Scott Besson
says payment to primarily low and middle income families would
need Congressional approval before being made. A Tennessee judge says
President Trump's use of the National Guard in Memphis is

(05:43):
against the law and orders a stop to that operation. However,
the judge will grant the White House five days to appeal.
The judge rules that deployment can only be activated on
orders of the governor and when the city is under
attack and would need state lawmaker's approval. He was a
skater boy who now doesn't know when to stop. Roller

(06:04):
World in Saugust looks and smells exactly the same as
it did when you were a kid.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
And if you happen to be there in the last
twenty years, Keith, you probably skated with Keith Carlyle.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
Yeah, because I stand out, so they, you know, they feel, oh,
it's got.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
To be something wrong with that guy stands out because
he's seven years old and he's doing the figure skating.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
If somebody told me comment was how many dreams he
got locked up in his basement? And the guy that's
saying that probably in his basement.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
But Heckler's aside, most people just watch in awe or
take out their phones.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
I do.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Some people. You inspire me.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
I look pt, which is nice.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
And oftentimes those clips go viral with comments like that
guy's been here since my.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Thirteenth birthday party. I'm now thirty. And for Keith, that's
what it's all about.

Speaker 5 (06:42):
It's kind of like my calling. This is what I'm
supposed to do. I feel like this is what I'm
supposed to do.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
His full story's up on our Instagram and TikTok, but
be warned, it's a bit of a roller coaster.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
