Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is WBZ Boston's news radio. We defining local news.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
What is this real, actual sunshine in Boston at sunrise
six o'clock. It is sixty two degrees and it's gonna
be a beautiful day today. Imagine that The News at
six is brought to us by your New England Toyota dealer,
your hybrid all wheel drive headquarters. Thanks for being with
us on this Wednesday morning. I'm Jeff Brown, and it
is about.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Time sunshine today with a breezy and warmer afternoon, We'll
have a high of eighty two.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
WBZ AKI weather meteorologist Heather's Ayre will do this again tomorrow. However,
Father's Day weekend looks like it might be close to
a washout. Red Sox rookie Rome and Anthony steals the show.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Swings in a line on the left field. That's gonna
store too. He takes off for a second base. He's
gonna double the call on nesson. Anthony propels the Socks
to a win over the Rays. Socks and Tampa will
up that series tonight at Fenway, and there is no
weather permitting it is expected to be a gorgeous night
at the ballpark. Game three of the NBA Finals tonight

(01:08):
in the Midwest, as the Indiana Pacers host the Oklahoma
City Thunder. They're tied at one game.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
A piece. Back on track, the US and China agree
to reset trade relations following a two day marathon session
in London. Both sides agree to roll back trade guidelines
to last month's standards and agree to come up with
a framework for the future. Details on what that might
look like or not known, but both sides are getting
closer to the deal as China continues to withhold critical

(01:36):
rare earth minerals and magnets that are both needed by
US automakers desperately, and olive branch maybe from Elon Musk,
trying to repair a broken romance with the President. Musk
says he regrets some of what he posted on his
social media platform X last week following the falling out,
and now suggests again on X that he may have

(01:57):
gone too far. The relationship of most personal advisor and
head of DOGE disintegrated rapidly after the President gave Musca
symbolic key to the White House, and the world's richest
man began blasting the President's Big, Beautiful budget bill. Teenagers
Love their screens. WBC's Drew o'holland tells us this relationship
could be a toxic one. Good morning, Andrew, Good morning, Jeff.

(02:20):
For you.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
New research showed there's a link between the time kids
spend with their heads down and their emotional health and
well being. A new worldwide study shows the more you lose,
the more you use, the more you lose. That's what
it is. Experts say time on TVs, tablets and gaming
consoles takes away from quality time with others, and that
means kids are at risk of developing problems. Problems like aggression, anxiety,

(02:43):
and lower self esteem. The results in the academic journal
Psychology Bulletin says a closer look at some three hundred
thousand children finds gaming consoles might do the worst damage.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
The more you use, the more you lose. Thank you,
live it and learn it. Good morning, Thank you, Drew.
Guests inside our living rooms are about to achieve immortality.
The Television Academy Hall of Fame announces the class of
twenty five, and Conan O'Brien leads the way Complete Unknown,
Real Pain, No shoot Out to These are just some

(03:14):
of the names I was called on the Red carpet.
The twenty seventh annual Hall of Fame ceremony will also
include Henry Winkler and Viola Davis. The Hall honors trailblazing performers, creators,
and producers who make outstanding contributions to the arts. Six
will join the Hall of Fame this year, which already
counts more than one hundred and fifty at its ranks.

(03:34):
The Hall of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles's scheduled for
August sixteenth. It's a beautiful morning in Boston. We're actually
enjoying a sunrise here in the city sixty two right
now in Boston. It's going to be warm and a
little bit on the muggy side today, but we'll take
it right. Plenty of sunshine from start to finish, two
with high temperatures in the low eighties. If you're going

(03:54):
to Fenway Park, tonight is going to be a beautiful
night for baseball, unlike the previous two nights, as see
temperatures dropping back to around seventy by first pitch and
then into the sixties overnight. Tonight tomorrow is another great
looking day with hazy sunshine and by the way, the
Hayes again is from the wildfire smoke in Canada, so
the blue skies today will actually appear more milky white

(04:16):
than blue. But the sun will be blazing again tomorrow
with high temperatures in the mid eighties. Looks like a
mix of sun and clouds to wrap up the work
week on Friday as temperatures stall in the mid seventies,
and then comes Father's Day weekend, and unfortunately, it looks
like it's going to be wet and pretty much both
days are going to be affected this time around occasional
showers both on Saturday and Sunday. We can't escape that.

(04:38):
Sixty two and looking good in Boston this morning at
six oh six on this Wednesday, the defense in the
Karen Reid trial is about to present its final witness.
CBS News Boston Christina Rex has been following this trial
and says the jury certainly has a lot to digest.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
X rays of John O'Keeffe's body and right arm, presented
in this case for the first time ever thirty days
to Karen Reid's second trial. No, the bones in the
right arm were intact. O'Keefe's injuries were at issue all
day Tuesday, as doctor Elizabeth Lapazata, Rhode Island's former chief
medical examiner, testified for the defense.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Well, it didn't hit him, so it doesn't matter.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
She was adamant that O'Keefe was not hit by a
car and testified that injuries to the back of his
head were from a ridge surface, not from frozen ground.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
The jury could get the case by the end of
this week. Read says she will not testify in her
own defense. It is wedding season, and rejection might be
the toughiest, the toughest, or the easiest RSVP of the mall.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Of course, many of us love getting invited to weddings.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
If I was invited, I guess I would go free food.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
It's always a good day to go celebrate love, right,
But sometimes the wedding destination is just too far setting
up logistics, it's just too much, or you just don't
want to go. So how or why do you say
you're not going make up? Something that I had to
do was shit important? You know this is a It's
probably the answer you're looking for. But I just asked AI.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Then see what can give me some give me a
list of excuses, I ask AI, and just pick one over.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
I just say no, will not attend, just send it back.
No intimation, none, Just do whatever you need to do
to not hurt the wedding party's feelings. James throwhas WBZ
Boston's news radio.
