Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey guys, it's Bethany from the Michael J. Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
You're listening to Michael J and Bethany After Hours.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Ninety three point one WPOC. Now Trudy, So.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
People are talking about the Ravens again. Football season's been
over with and you know football becomes a twelve.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Month year thing around here in Baltimore, right, Well, of
course when there's scandal.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yeah. Well, the Baltimore Banner, which is, you know, a
basically online version of the Baltimore Sun.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
They love chasing news stories.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
They put up an article today that says sixteen massage
therapist at eight different Baltimore area spas to find a
space to tell their account of Justin Tucker. Have finally
forced the Ravens to come out and make a comment
on their zero tolerance because there's been this thing that
they've said just oh, we have zero tolerance at the Ravens, but.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Apparently that history has shown that's not exactly true.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
No, at the combine this week, that's where they're looking
at new potential players for the Ravens. They were forced
and I guess John Harball came out. Here is a quote.
Can I just read exactly what he said? Please, he said, quote,
the Ravens do not have a defined, written zero tolerance policy.

(01:25):
Each situation stands on its own. Actions will be determined
after the facts are known. So unquote that is that's
the Ravens stance right now. They're waiting for the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
That was perfectly written and perfectly vague. A lot of
vegity in this. Is that even a word?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
I don't like it. But here here's the real crux
of the whole issue.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Ok.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
We got this problem with justin.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
The NFL is still in Baltimore interviewing these women.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
They started last.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Week, and I think everybody's waiting for the NFL to
to say something. So that's where that stands. Wow, And
that is where it is with the Ravens as well.
Ninety three point one w POC.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Traffic Okay, so fifty westbound at Easton Parkway is still
closed due to accident investigation work. A ninety five south
bound between ninety five and the Harbor Tunnel back to

eastbound between exit thirty five and Exit forty two. Things
or stop and go on the outer loop between Bellier
Road and York Road. We're rough right now, and then

(02:25):
ninety five SOUTHO on O'donald Street an accident there has
two right lanes block.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Things are not even moving.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Yes, you can be brainy this morning, and yes, your
brainy miss will help you get some lane.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Miss Laney Wilson is comming.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
We'll tell you how to win those tickets by seven fifteen,
so stay rights.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Record is sponsored by.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
All Right, there's so much excitement about Laney Wilson. I
say we go right to it.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
I was going to do the Music City minute, but
right now it's Laney Wilson as our attention, and we're
gonna give you a chance.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
To be brainy for Laney. All you need to do.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Starting with the ninth caller at eight hundred three two
one thirty six ninety three, Bethany and I both have
a question to show off your brainy noess, and it's.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Not going to be difficult. It might be a little tricky.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
We'll see eight hundred and three to two one thirty
six ninety three. We want to keep you rolling on
the beltweigh this morning, and apparently eighty three point one
w POC traffic the belt was Chevy.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
It's a four f one fifty.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
The Michael Jay and Bethany Penny pickup is headed to
Dix right there on Root forty.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
We'll tell you more about it. They're going to be
there at eight this morning.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
But here at ninety three point one w POC Bethany,
We're gonna do this real quick. Okay, we're gonna see
who's brainy for Laney for Laney Wilson Dickets. She's going
to be at the Merriweather Post Pavilion October ninth.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Are you ready?

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Oh my gosh?

Speaker 1 (03:59):
All right, here we go.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
The first question is how many categories are there of clouds?
Did you know there's different categories, different types.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Cubula, nimbus, Let's say five, that's all I can come
up with.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Oh no, that's not it. I'm so sorry.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
It was a pleasure talking to Leanna though. All Right,
have a great day, honey. Hold that's always say in Baltimore,
have a great day. Horn Hey hello ninety three point
one w POC Hello, Hey, your next what's your name?

Speaker 4 (04:42):
Laura Lynn?

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Laura Lyn? How many types of clouds? Luke Howard divided
clouds into categories.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
How many are there?

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (04:55):
My god, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Nine.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
No, that's not it.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
But here's the thing with people listening, maybe they'll they'll
figure out the lines.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I'm telling you the lines right now.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Bethany blowing up for Landy Wilson, Good morning?

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Who is this?

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Good morning?

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Good Deborah? How many categories of clouds are there?

Speaker 3 (05:22):
We're not there yet, deb Sorry w poc?

Speaker 1 (05:26):
How many types of clouds are there? Multiple? How many?
I need to know exactly how many? Line?

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Oh, everybody's guessing a high number. There's not that many.
Should I start giving hints?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
No? Oh, okay?

Speaker 3 (05:43):
How many types of clouds are there? Categories of clouds?
Go ahead, No, nope, I'm on line four.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
You are line four. I'm not trying to give any
clues here or anything, but good morning. What's your name,
Karen j R? I M all right, Karen? How many
categories of clouds are there?

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Eight?

Speaker 1 (06:11):
No, ma'am. Try to get poc. Good morning.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Y.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
How many types of clouds are there? Categories of clouds?
There's three and there's a fourth special type that was
added called nimbus. But they are I'm not going to
ask you to name them. They're serious Cumulus and stratus.
So there are three categories, plus that fourth special type. Bethany,

(06:40):
we've learned about not nimb Now we know more about
clouds than we ever.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Wanted to know. All Right, the next question that you
have to get right, just one more?

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Oh my gosh, what color is the black box on
an airline?

Speaker 1 (06:55):
The black box? What color is it?

Speaker 4 (06:59):
The black on it?

Speaker 1 (07:00):
But it's not black? Hint orange? Yeah, we gotta winder
the smartest listener we have. Oh, I love that.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
And you're going to see Lady Wilson Merriwether October ninth,
thanks to Live Nation and ninety three point one w poc.
I've never had no one Mommy and j Just be
careful what the drink is you're ordering. Starbucks is cutting
a whole bunch off their menu. Did you see that
they're not cutting costs?

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Though?

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Now here at ninety three point one doty poc. I've
got a constant thing in my throat today. Who's that
when you do the morning show? For some reason? That stuff?
All right, Michael, Jay and Bethany, we are so excited
to be here part of your morning. We spend a
lot of time behind the scenes talking about what we
can do.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
To matter well. We want to make you happy.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
And we know that music is one of the most
important things. You know in you listening, you love country
music and you care about the artists. So Bethanie and
I started saying, I wonder if we ask who are
Let's just break it down to three, your three favorite

(08:13):
country artists right now.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
It's our scientific sign.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yeah, there's so many charts, there's so many ways to
measure number one, downloads and streams and listens and all this,
but what do you want to hear? Like, we don't
have a lot of control over the music, but what
we can do is take an unscientific survey and try
to see if we're making y'all happy.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Or actually we're going to take control. We're taking control. Bethany,
you like a strong man.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, all right.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Well, so basically in a nutshell, they just had this
big convention in Nashville, the radio can it's a CRS,
all right, and they talk all things country music, country radio,
and it really boils down to there's seven at any
given time, seven superstars.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Okay, but that changes in Rota all the time. It's
always changing. But there's no waven come with.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
So we're going to start with three, and then we'll
put them all together and we'll come up with based
on what you say in our unscientifics.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
We'll make one of those diagrams. Yeah, we need seven,
So let me give you an idea. Like I would say,
it's just my my argument. Okay, who are you talking?

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Well?

Speaker 3 (09:25):
I think Morgan Wallin has to be in the top
seven for sure, and I put him in my top
three Morgan Wallen. But then I start getting really confused
because I love Luke Combs. I'm a big Chris Stapleton fan.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
That's just me. But then let's get some ladies in
there too. You know what I'm saying. Where do you
come out on this? Boy?

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Well, so here's my question for you before I answer.
Do you want to know who my favorite country artists are?
Or do you want to know what I want to
hear right now?

Speaker 3 (09:55):
I think we need to know because we're trying to
get to know people that listen to ninety three point
one WPOC in the morning better and we want you
to get to know us better, and we're.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Just trying to have music.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Is I would say eighty percent of the reason why
I want to be here and why you're listening to
the radio, right, So we want to We just want
to know who it is that you're.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Really loving these days.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
And so I think we ask who are the three
artists that you love to hear with Michael j and
Bethany in the morning?

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Okay, right, I like, hmm, I want to hear I
love Dirk Spentley.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Every time it comes back to music, it's always Dirks
and it's shirtless and he's on stage and she was there.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
I want him to stand right next to me. I
know we heard about that. Okay, all right, So Dirk's
so Dirk Chris Stapleton? Okay? Does does Luke make it?
Or does Morgan make it? Maybe? Maybe Luke Combs makes it?
All right? You don't sound definitive yet. I'm not sure,
right you really having trouble with that? You think about it?
All right?

Speaker 3 (10:57):
We're going to the phones eight hundred three or Tech
seven seven ninety six two.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
We've been swinging and missing some days.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Michael Jane, Bethany ninety three point one, w POC.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
What's your name? Will? All right, we'll take it away.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Top three country artists you want to hear these days.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
I'm more of a nineties country plan. So like Brooks
and Dawn, I love when you got a thirt of
nineties throwback on top top artists these days. Luke Combs
is up there, yep, Luke Bryant. All right, you guys
don't play him a lot with some hardy. Sure, we
love hardy. What do you think of Zach Top? Have

(11:40):
you heard him yet? Oh? Yeah, sweet baby?

Speaker 3 (11:43):
All right, buddy, thanks for calling. And one more real
quick good morning. Your name and your top three country stars.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Natasha and it's Brett Eldridge, Jordan Davis and Jackson d Oh.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
They're ninety three point one w POC traffic.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
It's its finest and we have a hundred texts too.
We'll get to those in a little while, so keep
them coming. Thank you so much. All Right, we are
crawling on A ninety five southbound between ninety five and
the Harbor Tunnel. It looks like you're sitting there for
close to half an hour, so if you can do
another direction, please do. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
BNW Parkway northbound, be toys. Yeah, I walk right out
the fire.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Yeah. You try to keep me down, trying to bum
me underground.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
I'm only going I can hear you in my head ba,
I'm dreaming. He was trying my dream. You'll do me
scale you where you can go.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
You're jelly roll. You know, some people like to inflate
how much money they make. We were talking about this
yesterday afternoon, Michael J and Bethany, and somebody asked you.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Yeah, I was out to.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Dinner with some friends the other night, and afterwards we
were walking out of the restaurant and she said, oh, hey,
how much do you make at that at the radio station.
I was like, what, that's pretty what I don't think,
I told her because I don't care if anybody knows. Really,
I mean, I guess I don't know. Should we care,
I don't know, kind of I guess. I just had

(13:25):
never been asked that question, so I never, like, of course,
like my family or something, if they asked me, like,
I'll tell them, but like, I guess.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Wait a minute, the irs is on the phone. They
want to know. Yeah, my accountant knows no. But I
just thought that was really interesting.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
And then I was like, and I think sometimes a
lot of people people think we make more than we do.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
I think it's kind of gotsy to ask myself so too.
My jaw dropped and excuse me, what size underwear do
you wear?

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Right?

Speaker 1 (13:49):
You know what I mean? I was kind of a
personal thing, or is it not?

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Here's what I'm Here's what I'm thinking. There's this one
Instagram account that I see pops up in my feed
sometimes where a girl just walks around with a microphone
and she's like, what do you do and how much
do you make?

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Really? And people answer her.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
And what I think is really fascinating is it's sort
of normalizing in a way, right, Like you know, yesterday
she was I watched the video that just yesterday she
was interviewing electrical engineers.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
How much do you make an hour? You know, how
much compared to when you start.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
It was really fascinating because the one girl was like,
I made seven dollars an hour when I started, and
now I make seventy dollars an hour or something. And
I'm like, how about that?

Speaker 1 (14:29):
I should be an electrician.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
If I go downstairs on Pennsylvania Avenue this morning with
people walking around in Towson, and I just walk up
the folks and say, hey, what do you do and
how much do you make?

Speaker 1 (14:39):
You know what? Most people are gonna say, hell out
of my way? Out of here.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
But I just thought that was really f I was like,
the people answer, And then I'm thinking, first of all,
in America, we're always about keeping up with the Joneses, obviously,
so is it better to like, should we be more
honest about how much we make and how much we
like actually should spend and shouldn't spend?

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Like, I just thought that was fascinating.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
And then there's a whole bunch of like problems with
how much people make when men making more than women,
minority is making less than, Like.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
I don't believe, Yeah, I don't believe guys are going
to tell the truth either.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Yeah, well right, because there's a certain like prestige, Yeah,
and MACHOs six figures, baby, you know what I'm saying.
But I perhaps we could all get a little bit
more even and more equal if we were a little
bit more open.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
And then there are jobs where it's already posted. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
So here's the thing that's really interesting to me about it.
My wife works with the state government, and she tells me,
I haven't really investigated this, but she says that everybody
in the state, you know, their salary, it's all public.
Like you're saying, yeah, yeah, so there's no privacy, and teachers.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Are on like a scale, so you can kind of
figure out ballpark what teachers make. And I just think
it's really I don't know, what do we think as
a society that we should be like honestly and openly
talking about how much we make or No.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
I personally wouldn't want to do it. I just think
it's kind of invasive to ask. It's kind of but
you know, hey, you can ask, and.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
I can ask whatever you want, right, you should ask
her how much she.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Made seven seven nine six two hit us on the
text line I swear it.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
And.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
I've been down a few broken roads.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
That I'm trying to mane. Garry LeVaux consin Kenny Rascal
flats one of your all time country favorites, Bless that

(16:45):
broken Road here at ninety three point one w POC.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
It's Michael J. Bethany. We're getting a lot of texts
about we are.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
We're talking about salaries, we're talking about One of my
friends just flat out was like, Hey, how much you
make at the radio station?

Speaker 1 (16:57):
And I was like er because I was like, is
that something we're asking now? But here's the difference between
you and me because you told her.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
You say you would just just tell I mean you
would do that with a stranger, like if someone said, hey,
excuse me, ma'am.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
I think where I stand on this issue is that
I think transparency would be good because there's so much
of a difference between how much people make, and I
think the only way that we're going to combat that
is if we are all honest right at like, you know,
if specifically women, if we just keep being like hush

(17:33):
hush about how much we make or the people around us,
then we're not going to know how much to ask for, you.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Know what I mean. True.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
So anyway, a lot of people are mixed on the text,
but it seems like the consensus is we don't talk
about it. Someone said, my grandfather taught me there are
two things I should never talk about. One was my salary.
The other was who I voted for. That's Paul, he says,
have a great day. I don't know, though, why why
don't you? Why not talk about it? Because first off,
it feels invasive. For one thing, it's like, you know,

(18:02):
get to know me for it, give me a kiss first.
Yeah no, but it just feels it's and I flashed
back to conversations I've had along these lines with my
wife because I'm pretty open about like if I'm talking
to neighbors, for example, and we're talking about I don't know,
a project that we've done or whatever. You know, you're

(18:24):
just sitting around drinking a beer and you're at the
fire pit or you're hanging out at the pool or
whatever you're doing with the neighbors, and and guys will
just start talking about, oh, hey, Frank, I got a
new you know bag from my golf clubs, and you know,
I don't know, and I'll I'm casual and relaxing, so
I'll throw some I don't know numbers come out, and
right away Cheryl's like grabbing me.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
She's like what She's like, be quiet? Why are you
always telling people about money? You know what I mean about?

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (18:51):
And I and I wouldn't feel comfortable, like, I mean,
first off, that that's I mean, I know your friend
said to you how much you make? But maybe she
was talking about in a professional situation because she does
improv and she was kind of curious, well, maybe I
want to work in radio?

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Is Oh no, I think she was just I mean,
I think she's happy at her job. She was just curious, Okay,
But I think Hannah says this. Hannahs from Millersville. She says,
we need to talk about pay. There should be a
conversation and we shouldn't be uncomfortable. The more we talk
about it, the closer we get to equality.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
And I believe that.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
I feel like perhaps the patriarchy is keeping the stone.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
How much do you think Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood
are making for singing this off wrapped on?

Speaker 1 (19:31):
I bet it's a whole big wheel.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Dollars gone out up Middensca.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
The song's gone burn on the fourth.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
Of July, Carrie, Cody trillionaires. I'm sure they are. You're
in ninety three point one w POC. We just been
talking about money. We got the penny pickup, which is
somehow tied into all this.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
This morning at eight o'clock Dick's Sporting Goods.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Yeah, right out by you know what's on Root forty.
If you've not been there, you get off at twenty nine,
right across from home Depot.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Okay, that's where the penny pickup is going to be.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
And we're collecting your unused pennies it's all for Saint
Jude eight o'clock this morning.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
If you're in that neck of the woods, we'll let
you know. We'll remind you when they get there.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
We are just wrapping up our chit chat on salary
and should we talk.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
About it out loud?

Speaker 2 (20:31):
And a lot of people are saying, Nana, there's some
things you just never talk about. Talent from Baltimore says
it can definitely feel invasive.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
First of all, I like that name. That's kind of cool.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
And then but she says it absolutely is so important
for fair pay, especially for people who are typically underpaid.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
One hundred percent agree. It's almost like maybe auditors need
to come in and look at that on some level.
I don't know, but I don't see how we can
do that individually though.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
Well it's like, you know, if you're on a team
and there's like all different people on your team, different races,
different you know, genders, and everybody on the team kind
of does the same job, but nobody knows how much
anybody else makes. Like that's how you can get different,
you know, Like but if everybody knew and everybody was equal, like,

(21:18):
but nobody talks about it. So I almost feel like,
I almost feel like they don't want us to talk
about it because then they can pay people less.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Ninety three point one WPOC traffic.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
I think it comes down to motivation, and I think this.
Some people are motivated by money, some people aren't. So
if you're a manager, you're like, I'm gonna have to
give this person more money to get xm hout of
work out of them. This person needs to be motivated
through maybe a little bit more vacation time or maybe
some more appreciation.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
So there's that.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
It depends if you look at it as a manager
or an employee, and it's I don't interesting anyway.
