Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey guys, it's Bethany from the Michael J. Morning Show.
You're listening to Michael J and Bethany After Hours.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Love Cash Boys with Hometown Home.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Come on ninety three Void one WPOC Now, Trudy.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Has everyone else been as fascinated and captivated with the
plane crash in Toronto as I mean to see that
plane roll? We got a guy named Captain Steve. I
love Captain Steve. Yeah, he breaks out. You know what's
been going on? He said? Basically, he's been an airline
pilot for decades. Yeah, for yeah, like thirty years. I
think he's about to retire, he claims. He said he

(00:37):
showed the video in slow mo, and he said what
happened was the plane was coming down. It was a
a Delta flight with eighty people aboard. It looked like
there was snow on the runway. The right wing tips
over and goes into the snow, and when that happens,
there's a flume of snow coming up. The wing got
ripped off because they couldn't handle the torque, and that

(00:58):
allowed the plane to flips right on its head. Yeah,
the left wing rotated over. Everyone was upside down, hanging
like they described as bats with their seatbelts.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
So Captain Steve wanted to share this information.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
I want to talk to you directly about safety on
an airplane. Folks, when you get on an airplane, think
about this for a second.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
I don't want you to get scared.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
There's ten thousand takeoffs and landings a day and this
is a really safe way to go. But having said that,
instead of dressing for your vacation destination in flip flops
and a halter top and shorts, right dress to get
out of the airplane in an emergency if you have
to wear something that laces up over your feet, wear jeans, wear.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Cotton, wear long sleeve.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Where's something that you can get out of the airplane
in an emergency.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
These people needed to be dressed, right.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Of course, they were going to Toronto, so they're going
to be dressed warmer. But imagine if they had been
going to Bermuda for the Bahamas, what they would have
been dressed like trying to get out of the airplane
in an emergency?

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Right exactly?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
And I think, like, I like a lot about what
he says, but like, boy, I don't want to have
to be thinking about how I'm going to evacuate an
airplane before I get on it. I don't like that
bringing that energy into the you know what I mean,
like bye.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
You put your seatbelt on for a reason.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
So ninety three point one WPOC traps.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
His name is Dylan Scott, Michael j and Bethany here
at ninety three point one WPOC. It's gonna be a
cold day today. Yeah, high up to about twenty nine
that is it. Some snow is possible tonight, could be nothing,
could be maybe an inch half inch, but just be careful.
Could be treky, a tricky and treky by tomorrow morning.

(02:48):
I just wanted I just just listened to your conversation.
And you do dress or pack in your car for
the selling case you get broke down exactly you're in
a traffic jam.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yeah, I just wanted to let that know.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Also, do you know you know, I take a blanket
in my car. I got like some stuff if we
do get stuck. There was a really bad snowstorm south
of DC. It was either it was a couple of
years ago. Remember there were like thousands of people stranded
for twenty four hours on ninety five. Take food, yes,
they they take food. Yeah, you always should be kind

(03:23):
of thinking. It's like a boy scout brought out thing
you think ahead.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
I'm with you.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
I agree with you.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Not to jinks, you're you're not one way, but not
to jinks.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
But always trying to be prepared. Yeah, I think that's
a good point.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
I know, I know what that's like, bringing a whole
bunch of negative energy, like we're probably gonna crash.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
No, I should probably be safe. Like see, I disagree.
I think it's it's being smart. It's being smart exactly.
It's being ready in case of anything. That's why. Like
you have a pocket knife in your pocket.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
He has a pocket knife.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Well, you can't have that on the airplane anyway. This
is all started because you said, she wants to cut
our seatbelt off with our pocket knife. And now stop it.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Michael Jay's music in sixty seconds. You don't know like
you own music.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Row, let's go all right, Hey, this all ties together.
We started. This started because of a pilot who said, hey,
be prepared when you go on an airplane. Yeah, you
gotta dress warm. I think she's sweet. Dotty said, you know,
dress warm if you're gonna be in your car. Well
cold Ford a country star makes news in the Country
Music Minute this morning. He says he technically died twice

(04:33):
after suffering a massive heart attack. He's back. He said
that he gave him a point zero one chance of survival,
and now he's releasing new country. The reason he's in
the story today is because he says this is an
important message. As he releases a new song with his
buddy Michael Ray. He says, whatever you're doing, you better

(04:54):
be living, because this happened to him very quickly. He
was on his bus. He calls his wife. He's like
a I think I'm having a heart attack happening, boom
like that. So the message today is, whether you're going
to be flying, driving, or on a country tour bus,
listen to cold Ford, you better be living.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Ninety three point one.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
We have to we have to look something up. What's that?

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Somebody on text said, Hi, the oatmeal commercial where an
old man states, this is the goat the greatest oatmeal
of all time is the cringiest thing I've ever heard
on the radio.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
We have to look I didn't hear it, the greatest
oatmeal of all time. That's funny.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
I'm forty and that's the cringiest thing I've ever heard.
I gotta I gotta look up.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
I agree. If that's what it said, we'll listen for
it here at ninety three point one WPOC Michael J
and Bethany Cold Day High twenty nine Today, snow possible tonight,
don't get hysterical less than an inch. I'm ready to sing.
Here we go, Oh baby, what's your name?

Speaker 1 (05:56):
It's all right, Ashley. What's gonna happen is I'm gonna
give you a word. We're gonna count to three. You
have to sing a song with that word in it.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
You gotta get three songs correct, and if you do it,
you win the tickets for Blake Shelton. Let's go.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
The first word is summer summer. Let's hear a song
with summer one, two three.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
I'm sorry, you have to try again. Ninety three point
one w POC. What's your name?

Speaker 5 (06:24):
My name is Kristen.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
All right, Kristin, get ready to sing? What's the first
word about the name? First word is summer. Let's hear
a song with summer one, two three, summer summer time. Okay,
that's a song. Okay, that's one.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
The second word is baby, sing a song with baby
three two one go hit.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Me baby one more time?

Speaker 1 (06:47):
All right, all right me baby, Yeah, we needs more
singing and less talking. Yeah, this is not a rap show,
all right, all right. Third word is feel she didn't
make it?

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Oh, well, you know what. We're gonna go back to
the phones. Then eight hundred three two one thirty six,
both of them. We'll see what happens after. Co Wetzel,
I can tell that you met what did you want
us to know? I really enjoy you guys in the morning. Wow,

(07:24):
we enjoy you in the morning too. You're at ninety
three point one w poc Michael J and Bethany And
we got Robin on the phone. Robin's ready to sing.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
The first word, Robin is summer. Sing a song with
the word summer.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Go haug me up.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
All right, all right, Robin, that's good. Let's get another word.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Okay, ready, baby baby love stop.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
When is your single coming out?

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Robin?

Speaker 1 (08:16):
God?

Speaker 2 (08:17):
I got goosebumps?

Speaker 3 (08:20):
You win. Blake Shelton tickets great job.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Where did it go?

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Y three point one w POC traffic.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Oh, that's funny. So she's going to CFG Bank Arena
March twentieth.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
She's delightful. We'll do it again tomorrow, all right, Marilyn.
Route to northbound between Pasadena and Route ten is closed
right now due to an accident investigation. We're slow before
both tunnels. Before the Harbor tunnel going south, we're backed
up about twenty minute. You see.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Brooks and done back in a big way now, CMA
Duo of the Year last year. That was amazing and
boring everywhere this summer.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Ninety three point one WPOC now treuity.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
So you know, since the bridge collapsed, the Key Bridge
in the last year, local businesses have been affected big time.
And I guess one of the categories that have been
affected the most restaurants.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
I think in theory, we all kind of knew that
that would happen, you know, like the businesses would take
a big hit, but I guess I didn't realize how
bad it was.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Well, the Maryland Restaurant Association called the industry's outlook extremely
tough for locations close to the Key Bridge, so they
put together an organization and a partnership with a Door Dash.
And this week Governor Moore announced that they were going
to give out cash one hundred thousand dollars. They divided
it up to ten businesses. And what was it for

(09:50):
businesses that made less than three million over the last
twelve months? Fifty employees or less at a brick and
mortar location. That's cool. And so they picked ten restaurants
and they are Sunset, Raw, Juice Bar, Cheesy's, Pubs and subs.
I think we ought to remember the names of these
and then let go help them out too and go,

(10:12):
you know, buy some of their food. Check them out.
Beetles Donuts, Frank's Bay Tavern, Frank's. Is that the place
that's got pizza that's really good? I think that's a
is it a different frame? We'll check that out. Marie
Louise Bistro, Catering number one, Oh no, Marie Louise Beestro
and Catering number one, Chinese Kitchen, Faux Bach, Salty Dogs, Crabhouse,

(10:33):
what else, Twist Fellas Point, and simply Marie's. They were
announced as the ten local spots that get ten grand each. Okay, well,
I'm glad. Did they you know, yeah, we want to
support local businesses. Oh yeah, for sure. So shout out
to all those and you know, look those restaurants up
and go get some lunch or dinner. Eat local.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Exactly ninety three point one w POC.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Traffic all right, Maryland Root two northbound between Pasadena and
Root ten.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Jason Aldan a ninety three point one w POC with
Michael j and Bethany.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Yeah, Jason Aldan wants us to help name his beach house.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
We talked about this yesterday. They're looking for tips.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
So I keep out in the loop of entertainment and
pop culture and the things we shouldn't care about, but
somehow we really do. Bethany bree on ninety three point
one w POC.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
So, if you want to tell us what your house
would be named? If your house had a name, what
would it be? Isn't that the goofiest thing that Bethany?
We were talking about this yesterday. Who names a house?

Speaker 2 (11:40):
But Jason Aldean and Brittany his wife, they want to
put the name on their towels.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
So if you had to name your house, what would
it be? Seven seven ninety six to two. Begin your
message with higher hands? Okay, asap? Rocky was found not
guilty on two felony assault charges related to a twenty
twenty one altercation. He was very excited in court yesterday.
This is Rhanna's man in case you didn't know. So anyway,
they're happy about that. The Becoming led Zeppelin documentary is

(12:06):
headed to Imax screens.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
It'll open in two hundred theaters on February twenty eighth.
All right, will you led Zeppelin fans a long time ago?

Speaker 2 (12:15):
You know what I mean? But I can't believe they're
still around.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
And their documentary is going to Imax.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Wow, that's incredible. All right.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Jerald Way of My Chemical Romance has unveiled a sequel
to Umbrella Academy graphic novel series that then became a
Netflix show. The first issue of Umbrella Academy Plan B
is set to be published this summer. A funeral company
in England called Poetic Endings is offering the world's first
living coffin made out of mushrooms. What it breaks down

(12:45):
in the ground within forty five days and thus you
get to begin breaking down soon after the added bonus.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
It's only fifteen hundred dollars. I kind of like that,
would you do that. Yeah, I probably would. I don't
want to be in a cement vault. Okay, well, here
you go a little mushroom. It's cheap for your fam.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's house was burglarized in Los Angeles.
They weren't home over the weekend and one of their
employees was able to scare off the intruder, so they
don't think anything was stolen yet.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
But Nicole and Keith haven't been home yet too. I'm
glad nobody was hurt. Isn't that crazy? It is all right,
So there you go.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
All right, ninety three point one WPOC traffic.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Let me ask you a question. Did you get a
call last night around I think it was around six
thirty reason why Johnny?

Speaker 5 (13:32):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yes, yes I did.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
You got that too, Yeah, it was like a town
I didn't have time to listen to it, though, but
I was like.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
This is neat.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
I stayed on the phone and listened for an hour.
I did.

Speaker 5 (13:42):
I was.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
I was mesmerized by it. Okay, because of the tech
watch Love is Blind? Well, I was listening to the
Johnny O town hall on our phones. Yeah, it was.
They took polls. He talked about yeah, and I was wondering,
what's he going to talk about? Right? Oh, by the way,
Michael J and Bethany ninety three point one WPOC.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
I thought that was a neat neat technology. I was like,
how about that?

Speaker 2 (14:03):
I wonder how many other people got that call? Let
us know if you got if Chanio called your home
yesterday seven seven, nine six two, you can text us
start with hey, or you can call eight hundred three
two one thirty six ninety three. The reason I asked
is I was listening and it felt to me that
one of the big points that he was really hammering
is that with all the you know, disagreements in politics,

(14:26):
he was saying, you know, we can all agree on
the fact that we want to get rid of government waste,
right right? Could we all agree on that? I mean,
I don't think anybody of course.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Yeah, we won our b If that's the only thing
combining the country right now, well let's do it.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Yeah, exactly. So. One of the shining examples of government
waste that people have been talking about is how we
spent eighty five million dollars making pennies.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Yeah, you know, and I don't need it. No, Well,
I mean it depends on how you think. But President
Trump has said that he would like to get rid
of pennies also, so.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Right, maybe it's time. We're kind of curious. What about you?
Are you ready to get rid of your pennies?

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Hi, good morning, This is Kimberly. I'm calling about the change.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Yeah, Kimberly, what do you think do we get rid
of the pennies or do we keep the change? Okay,
in theory, I think we get rid of the change.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
But selfishly, my husband.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
And I throw all our change into a big bucket.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
And by the end of the year we probably have
a couple thousand dollars, So I would hate to lose
that couple thousand dollars.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
What do you guys do with that money?

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Usually we put it towards our vacation.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
It's like our spending money for vacation the end of
the year. I think a lot of people save change,
and that's that's the issue. And I'm one of those people.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
But my handbag is always so heavy carrying that change around,
So yeah, I would I would get rid of the change. Hey, Kimberly,
if everyone's going to get rid of their change, like
we're talking, what about if we came up with a
really easy way for you to contribute some of that change.
You just gave Bethany and I an idea when you

(16:00):
were talking. What about if we had our very own
penny pickup truck and we drove it around Baltimore and
we gave you a chance to throw your loose change
in the back of the pickup, and then we could
do something really magical with that money.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
That would be amazing.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
How great? Yes, count me in. Yes, I'll drive the
truck for God's sake. Yeah, for sure. You're so cute.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
You guys are so smart.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
I'm so glad I'm continuing to listen to you guys.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Kimberly. Well, we're gonna thank Kimberly. She gave us the idea.
I think it's the best idea. You're taking your vacation money, Gimberly.
I think I think it was a collective idea.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
So we'll all get credit for it. How about that.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
You guys are doing great, keep it up. Well, thank you?
So what do you say the penny pickup? Let's do it.
Let's talk about that this morning, all right.

Speaker 5 (16:49):
Name Billy Currington, walms CA.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Can you know, we talk about good news stories every
morning at nine point thirty with Michael j and Bethany.
I think this could be a good news story. So
we were just talking a few minutes ago with a
really lovely lady who gave us an idea. You know,
I can get a pickup truck from apple Ford, no problem, Okay,
all right, Because I got a long relationship with them,

(17:19):
I know they'd let me lend me a truck. Okay,
we take the pickup truck from apple We call it
the Penny pickup because everyone wants to get rid of
their pennies.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Well, if the government stops making pennies, they're not going
to be worth anything anymore, so we might as well
get rid of them now.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Well yeah, and if you could throw them in the
back of our pickup, then we could give them to
Saint Jude. I think that would be a win win. Yeah.
What do you think? Am I the only one thinking
this is a good idea? Why not? I? Yeah? I
think if you agree, we're just kind of spitballing right now.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
I want to see if this, if this idea would work,
let us know if you would buy in a wink
wink exactly would you throw your pennies in the pickup truck.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Let's say, you know, we had the truck on Eastern
Avenue or we went to you know, Richie Highway. I
think I think we could collect some change people are
going to get rid of anyway and give it to
Saint Jude. What do you think you ever seen a
pre I just picture these little children at Saint Jude
that we talked about back in the radiothon back in December,

(18:21):
dealing with cancer. Yeah, and you know, looking into the
eyes of a child, you know.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
I mean it's so funny because we say, like, let's
just quote unquote throw some money at the problem. Let's
throw our pennies at the problem and see if we
can do something about it.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
This was a goofy idea, but I think it could work.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Somebody on tech said, Hi, I love the idea for
Saint Jude, and then someone said, hey, I love the
penny pickup. I will help and probably can get more
help in northern and Toronto County.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
I think we could run this truck all over the place. Yeah.
So I just we just called apple Ford is willing
to go along with it. That's awesome. I really think
this could work. Cindy is on board.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
She says, your penny idea, I have a ton all right, Cindy,
everybody who's listening who said that they're into this idea,
let us know where you are so that we can
send a truck your way.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
And if you're just turned on, you know, ninety three
point one WPOC with Michael, Jay and Bethany. We're the
new morning crew. We've been here for what six and
a half seven weeks? It hasn't really good. It's been
I think this is our seventh week. Anyway. The one
thing when they first said to me, would you like
to be on the morning show? I thought, you know what, Bethany,
first off, if I get to work with you, I
was really excited about I'm serious. I was super excited

(19:32):
about that. And by the way, Laurie is on on
Sundays at eleven am. Because people are wondering what happened
to Laurie, She's Sunday Morning. But the moment I found
out about this this, I thought, you know, maybe this
could be a platform where periodically we could do something
goodeh And Kimberly called up and was talking about her
change a few minutes ago and We just thought, well,

(19:53):
what about if we had, you know, a penny pickup
and we run the truck around town for a few
days and I don't know, see what happens.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Do people have cans full of pennies or like I've
even seen you know, they have those like tall banks
full of exactly. Yeah, if you've got one of those, like,
bring it, dump it in the back of our truck.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
I mean, if the president wants to get rid of pennies,
we know where he can put them.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
