Two tickets, you don't get three you don't get three.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
I wanted to get into this right now because what
we saw this past weekend was less than a please
of appeasing. It was not what we thought was going
to happen. I did my prediction. I had Texas in
the game twenty four to twenty. Maybe it was homersh
of me. Maybe it was I thought having a week

(04:07):
off and getting into the by you would be able
to come out and play against a team like the
Georgia Bulldogs, knowing what you're up against, knowing what's at stake, Mark,
but nonetheless, coming into the fourth quarter, you thought it
was a ballgame. Everybody was excited. Everybody was like, Okay,
play here, play there. But there were signs that were

(04:29):
telling you it's not gonna end well. Texas couldn't run
the football. They were relying so much on the pass.
They couldn't get any movement up front. And for whatever reason,
it seems like the Georgia Bulldogs always find a way
to get it done against the Texas Longhorns. Now, the

(04:49):
last time Texas won against Georgia, it was in the
Sugar Bowl a few years back.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
And that's when.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Sam Ellinger said we're bad Texas back, and then since then,
Georgia took that personally and they have dominated the Texas
football team.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
They have dominated the Texas football team.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
But it's in part and you're not a homer like
Texas has the tools to and had and has the
tools to win a game like the one they played
on Saturday. A lot of what we look at is
more the schematics and the game planning. You had a

(05:31):
week off, you had plenty of time to fix a
few things, try to shore some things up, and maybe
even throw a couple of wrinkles in it. We're gonna
do something different. I mean, this is Georgia. We haven't
beat them in a while. Let's let's let's surprise them.
Kirby Smart did and they played an aggressive, mean, aggre

(05:54):
agitated style of football that Texas didn't play. You send
sick As on a rush and you're twelve yards off
the line of scrimmage in front of your wide receiver, Why, what,
what and what defensive world do you do that? There

(06:15):
are things that the fans are saying, I'm not This
is not just my thoughts. I'm saying what I've read
as well as what I saw. I'm not by myself.
I'm not attacking anybody. I'm just saying the facts. You
have a wide receiver that has kind of been the

(06:36):
the the quarterbacks.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
Go to guy his roommate Parker Livingston, two shots the
entire game.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
I mean, what happened that the relationship between them went away?
You have mostly who it's stepped up, made some really
good catches in the game in the first half, second half.
Nothing You're gonna throw it to a tight end that

(07:10):
you haven't thrown the ball to very much, if not
any in the last two or three games. Injuries, who
is the kind of the bell cow spent a lot
of time trying to wham block and block people rather
than get up and get a three yard pass and

(07:33):
try to run the ball.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
Like there were just things.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
That typically they have done well that they went away from,
and I think that those things would have expanded the
run game. How about some you know, direct snaps, how
about the quarterback running the ball something. If you can't
do what you normally do, then you have to have

(07:58):
a plan B.

Speaker 6 (08:00):
What was that?

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Well, here's coach Sark's opening statement after the ball game
talking about what he saw during this time.

Speaker 7 (08:08):
All righty, you know that was a really good game
until the start of the fourth quarter. It was fourteen
to ten. They get the ball and they converted two
fourth downs. They score the outside kick, they score again,
they pop a kickoff down then we get pinned inside

(08:28):
the ten shape. The punt they score again. Was twenty
one and up in the fourth quarter. So great job,
my Georgia. I thought they did a nice job.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
I wish we.

Speaker 7 (08:39):
Could have taken advantage of a few things earlier in
the game offensively, especially in the first half, that we
just weren't able to And you know, at that point,
you know, it was unfortunate because we thought we could
have been had to go a balanced attack, and we
didn't because we got behind to the fourth quarter, we
had we had a start throwing at that point, so

(08:59):
disappoint It was a pretty good game for three quarters,
and it was not a great game of fourth quarters,
at least not for us. So I think the challenge
for US now is we got to we got a
two week season in front of us, and we got
to get up off the map. We got to go compete,
and we got to find a way to go win
the next two long games to see what happens so
that's it.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Yeah, and you know, we we've had the conversation about
the three loss team trying to get into the college
football playoffs. Oklahoma winning did not help Texas's chances. When
you start to look at those types of conversations, I
know what people were like, well we beat Oklahoma, Well

(09:41):
don't really matter when you got three losses and you
got to try to figure out what's going on. But
the biggest problem that I've had so far this season
is the lack of.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
Rushing. We we for.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Some reason, you think that you're turning a corner on
the running game, and if if you can't run the football,
there's no play action, there's no threat of that. And
start talked about the issues that the team has with
this rushing attemp.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
Oh, oh, we actually ran it pretty good.

Speaker 8 (10:12):
We just didn't get enough opportunities.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
Well, uh, where was that?

Speaker 1 (10:17):
We're seventeen rushes seventeen And the problem that I have
with that conversation and that answer is.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
You just told us the game was close until the
fourth quarter. You've played four quarters, though, but you.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Just told me it was close for four quarters. Why
couldn't you run the football? Why didn't you have more
rushing attempts. They finished with thirty five. You had seventeen
rushing attempts. You have two backs that are experienced. The
game is still tight, there's still opportunity to control the game,
control the clock. Time of possession was not in our favor.

(10:57):
They had it for thirty five minutes. Yeah, it wasn't
moving towards what we thought it was going to be.
So for me, it's like, you still have to give
those guys time. There shouldn't have been a rush to
get to the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
If you're not.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Gonna go up tempo, up tempo, then what.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
Are we doing? Funeral yet? I mean no matter.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Saying that, but it's that time where you got to understand,
we didn't run the football, and we're in game eleven,
we're headed in the game eleven and twelve, and we
still we will not have a thousand yard back this year. No,
and that's what we've been told for years, that they
were able to hold their hat. When we come back,
we'll continue the conversations we'll hear from the players. What

(11:43):
does it look like for the Texas Longhorns and their
possibility of getting into the college football playoffs? Got to
win this next game for sure, and we'll talk about
it right here on the morning kickoff on Sports Radio
AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back to the morning
kickoff right now. You're on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred
The Zone. Busy busy day here on AM thirteen hundred

(12:07):
The Zone.

Speaker 5 (12:07):
Coach Sarks.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
A media availability has been moved up to eleven fifteen.
It will start at eleven fifteen and you can hear myself,
Craig Way and of course Cam Parker right here leading
up to that conversation with Coach Sark. Busy, busy day
on the forty and it's a busy week.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
As you heard. We have wind down Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
This Wednesday at Canaan Ables from five to seven will
be giving away Ariana Grande tickets and we'll be giving
tickets to a future Texas Longhorn football game.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
Might even get some tickets for this weekend.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
But before we get a chance to hear from the players,
I want to say prayers up to a former player,
Chris Boyd. Chris Boyd was on fortunately shot in downtown
New York this past yesterday, as a matter of fact,

(13:07):
yesterday morning, and they say that he was in critical condition.
I do not have an update as of right now,
I have not seen one, but prayers up for former
Longhorn Chris Boyd. Chris Boyd was a special team star
here at the University of Texas. He's made his way
in the NFL doing the exact same thing. He's currently

(13:29):
with the New York Jets, and just keep prayers in
your mind for him. Also Bernie Kozar, he's not a
former Texas Longhorn, but he is going a liver transplant
this morning. He was waiting on a liver, finally got
one and now he's doing a transplant this morning.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
So prayers up to both of those young men.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Let's get into this because we just talked about the
running issue and what was going on with that, and
the Russian attack only had seventeen yards and Trey Weisner
was asked about what he thought. Did he think he
was gonna get more carries after that great first quarter?

Speaker 5 (14:16):
Who's gonna do whatever?

Speaker 2 (14:17):
We do?

Speaker 5 (14:19):
Just thing, so coach sarka stuff they ridden up on
the place and.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
He basically said, coach Shark and will call the players.
We should have did a better job of executing and
we're gonna go out and execute what play is being called.
But the answer is, yeah, keep giving me the ball
because I was moving it. They were moving the ball,
they were getting first downs, they were driving down. I
mean they came up short on that first drive. They
scored a touchdown on the first drive. We have a

(14:53):
different conversation. The energy is totally different. But what you
did was you didn't score. You got three points, right,
But George is sitting over there. That's a defensive win.
That's a defensive win if you can hold them from
seven to three. Defensive win. And so their energy changed
a lot as well. Now they got a chance to

(15:14):
go make the adjustments. They settled and they went and
did what they needed to do. They most definitely did.
And rather than harp on the negative part of it,
I'm going to hit you with some positive. The positive
is Arch did a hell of a job. He executed

(15:34):
the plan. It's unfortunate that the plan did not work.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
But for all those haters, the people that try to
heap all the hate on Arch, Arch did what he
was supposed to do. He went out there, he delivered balls.
He man he ate a few blitzers that got through.
He didn't over scramble, didn't overrun the ball, which I

(16:05):
feel like some some plays designed for him to run
would have been great, being that the you went away
from the running attack.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
But Archie did a good job.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
And you know, I feel like that there's still improvement
since that Mississippi State game, and I wish that they
would have been able to capitalize on it.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Arches a baller. We we we have established that the
game has slowed down for him. He's done everything he
needed to do and continue to to be that type
of player. People that obviously are gonna hate on Archer,
ones that are just gonna hate period. They're not watching
the game. They're not watching the game. If you watch

(16:48):
the game, he was on point. He made good decisions.
He put the ball where it was supposed to be.
So those people holding on to it, I'm done.

Speaker 5 (16:58):
That's a different question.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
I got to get quick quick Listen, how do you
feel hardsh that Mark stole your bit being positive?

Speaker 5 (17:05):
Yeah, it's okay, it's okay. You know he wanted to
do that, that's what. Yeah, that's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
We understand, we understand, it's all right. It's all right.
You know turn turn about his fair play. You know
I've done it too. I've done yours before.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
So it's okay, it's okay, But I do want to
get into the point of Michael Taff, and Michael Taff
was asked the question if he still thinks that.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
This Texas team is a playoff team?

Speaker 9 (17:36):
Yeah? Sure, do you know we're starting fourth fourteen tennis
a top five opponent. You get to stop, you get
to the offense and go score that you're up, and
now everything that's getting brought about us, it's all different, right,
So that's the game of football. If you watch the

(17:57):
South Carolina and back and touchdown and now it's thirty
to three. But clearly that A and M showed what
type of team they were in. So it's just football.
You got to be on the other side of it,
figure out ways to not heart your self.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
And they also have to figure out what is next
for them.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
So Arch and Colin Simmons end up quote co excuse me,
coach Sarkeysian spoke about the frustration of losing this game.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
So you got to win the fourth quarter. That's one
of our things that we talked about each week. Winning
the fourth I thought we were in a pretty good spot,
just kind of got out of control. And it starts
with me. I gotta play better, I gotta leave better.
And we got to get back to work and stick
together throughout these last two weeks.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
It's very humbling, but you know, we gotta get back
to work at the end of the day, Like you know,
we can't soak in on the pass, you know, just
move forward.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
It's a frustrating loss.

Speaker 8 (18:50):
I would say that it's frustrating because you feel like
you're prepared to play.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
I really did.

Speaker 8 (18:56):
I felt like our players were really engaged, ready to go.
I thought our staff was, everybody was. And like I said,
it's a fourteen to ten game against a really good team.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
On the road.

Speaker 8 (19:06):
Let's go play the fourth quarter, and us just not
playing the fourth quarter anywhere close to what the standard
is around here is very disappointing and frustrating.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Twenty one points in the fourth quarter. And finally, Michael
Taff talked about the Longhorns effort in the fourth and
holding the team accountable and giving the Bulldogs credit as well.

Speaker 9 (19:28):
Football is a game of every single play, if you
think about it, they score, they go up twenty one
to ten. They get an ounsi kick. Now they have
the ball at the forty yard line. They score again.
Now we get stopped, they score again. It's just like that.
But if you have the same type of playing as
the second and third quarter, then it's way different. So

(19:50):
it's not like the big bad Georgia Bulldogs. It was
we hurt ourselves, and like I said, I gotta give
respect to them because they earned it. They drove down
the field and they scored on I think a really
good defense, and then on their defensive side they stopped
a really good offense in my opinion. So you know,
at the end of the day, we got to step

(20:12):
up as leaders and and understand that at the end
of the day, it's on us.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
But it comes down to each.

Speaker 9 (20:19):
Play mentality, and we lost a couple of those plays
that just hurt us.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
It's it's it sounds it sounds bad to me because
I just feel like, you know, they got some some
some bad beats.

Speaker 9 (20:36):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (20:36):
There's no way that that interception at arts through should have.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Been an interception as past interference.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
Yep. Uh.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
There was several times that Colin Simmons was horse collar.
I mean like it looked like a pro wrestling clothes
line a couple of times.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
Uh that that weren't called.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
But if you don't sell it, then they're not gonna see.
You gotta exaggerate the fact that I'm being held. You
got to exaggerate the fact that, look, man, this guy's
hand is around my neck. Like you know, you got
you gotta play the game, and not making any excuses,
just saying that, you know, everything that happened in Texas

(21:18):
in that fourth quarter was not just Texas's fault, all right.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Texas was flagged for nine penalties for fifty eight yards.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
Georgia had one penalty.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
One penalty in a high intense football game. And for
the Georgia Bulldogs to only have one penalty, Mark just
told you. There were plenty of plays where the quarterback,
I mean the defensive lineman, Colin Simmons was being held

(21:51):
that were not called.

Speaker 5 (21:53):
It's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
But like you said, I just think the SCC don't
like Texas and they're gonna keep doing it until the
Texas just dominates them.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Well, Waves coming up next, we're gonna continue the conversations.
I'll give my thoughts on what I saw from the game,
and we'll hear from coach sark on a couple of
things that kind of stood out as well. Right here
on the Morning Kickoff on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred
The Zone. Welcome back to the morning kickoff right here

(22:24):
on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Mark Henry
Marcus behind the boards, and of course your boy hardball
hards bringing it to you. Coming up in the next segment,
we'll talk Texas men's and women's basketball as they had
big weekends this weekend on the forty acres and we'll
give you a chance to win a pair of tickets

(22:46):
to win to go see Texas basketball. But right now,
let's get right into it, because I'm gonna give you
my thoughts on the game this past Saturday.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
It was a great Saturday.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
I started off great Friday Sons basketball team wins. Goes
to Colleen on Saturday morning to go celebrate my grandmother
and her twins ninety fifth birthday. Outstanding time, unbelievable group
of people involved. Shout out to my aunt uncle for
holding it down and all the people that were involved
in making that day special. And then you get the

(23:20):
chance to watch the game that everybody was excited for.
Four versus ten Top ten matchup.

Speaker 5 (23:27):
Playoff implications.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Everything was there, and then all of a sudden, you
get to the fourth quarter and Texas gives up twenty
one points in the fourth quarter to end up losing
the game thirty five to ten, And there was a
moment in the game that everyone was prepared for.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
The conversation was there. The announcers on TV.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Were talking about it as well, and then it happened
the on sidekick.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
You heard Michael Taff talk about it.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
If you're for it and you've talked about it, then
everybody should have all hands on debt.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
One of the biggest things.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
That we have talked about is special teams, how they've.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
Been great here lately.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
Well, they found something and they executed it, and Coach
Sart talked about it.

Speaker 8 (24:18):
Yeah, not that on site kick in particular, but we
knew where we might be vulnerable to one. We actually
practiced that kick in practice with anticipation that it might occur,
and we didn't field the ball, you know, and so
you know, it was a risk they were willing to

(24:38):
take because it's a twenty one to ten game. We
field that ball, We're getting the ball and the plus
forty five and with offense with some momentum to go score.
They took the risk and they recovered it, and inevitably,
those are momentum changing plays for sure in games, any
game in particular, but in games like this, those are
momentum changing plays. They took the risk, they made the play,

(25:00):
you know, and there was a heck of a kick
and nice recovery by.

Speaker 5 (25:03):
That heck of a kick.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
Nice recovery. Things happened throughout that game, but most importantly
it was the momentum shifter. That's when the game changed,
because you're there. He says, we practiced it, we didn't
execute it. We didn't recover it. We didn't touch it.
That's the problem. We didn't get there. And if that guy,

(25:28):
if you are able to advance it, he would have
advanced it, possibly for a touchdown.

Speaker 5 (25:32):
He just fell down on his own. I was wondering
why he failed that.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
Now you can't advance that. You could just only recover it.
You're not able. We as a team can get the
hop and advance it. Defense can't advance it. At that point.
You just recover it. You're at that spot. But it's
crazy to me, it's crazy to me that those are
the types of moments that they take the risk and
it executes. We haven't had an opportunity to do that.

(25:58):
We haven't been in those positions. Another thing that kind
of stands out, and this is well documented, so I'm
not throwing shade at this particular moment. Coach Sharks is
zero to three against Kirby Smart over the past two seasons.
The numbers, which was all over the broadcast because ABC

(26:18):
was talking about it. Texas is now one in seven.
Excuse me, Coach Sharks teams are now one in seven
against teams that are ranked in.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
The top five.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
And we've talked about coach Sark and Kirby Smart and
how good Kirby Smart is. They've only received forty four
points in the three games. Texas has only scored forty
four points in the three games. That's not Texas football.
You've got to be able when you're going up against

(26:52):
these types of teams.

Speaker 5 (26:53):
You've got to go execute.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
And Shark was asked about the challenge of facing a
Kirby Smart coach team.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
Yeah, no, they're they're a great team. You know, he's
a good coach. He got good they got good schemes
in all three phases.

Speaker 8 (27:06):
They got really good players, and you know, to their credit,
that's why they've been kind of the standard of college
football for the last ten years, you know.

Speaker 6 (27:15):
And so.

Speaker 8 (27:17):
You know, I've always loved the challenge of playing them,
and I'm gonna love the challenge the next time we
get an opportunity to play them.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
And Mark, you said something this morning that that really
resonated with me about Okay, it's time to stop being
a friend and now it's time for you to go
out there and bust his behind because it's that time.
That text this is this is your roadblock to greatness.

(27:43):
Now you look at what he lost to kaitlynder Board twice.
He's at Alabama. Now he lost to Ryan Day twice. Well,
yeah twice, and now he's lost to Kirby three times.
You gotta the friendships are just cordial. In my big brother,
love him call me at four thirty this morning. Thanks Pat.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
But there was a point when I was in the
ninth grade where I was tired of him being big
brother in me. I'm like, look you pat me on
the head again. I'm gonna fight you. I love you,
but don't pat me on my head again. That's where
Coach Sarkas gotta get he's got to get to the

(28:33):
point where, look, if it ruins our friendship, it's gonna
ruin our friendship. But you're not gonna big brother me again.
My team is instructed to punch you in the mouth
every chance we get. And that's what Kirby is. Kirkbererby
is like, I'm gonna punch you in the mouth exactly,
And I don't care what you think right right.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
And I'm wearing my burnt orange today because as upset
as I was, I still.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Love that burnt orange up. And I know that's the
way those players over there field. They not changing. The
ain't nothing changed.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
Nobody's leaving the team, nobody, nobody's watching about going back and.

Speaker 5 (29:10):
And and getting your get back. And Arkansas should be
very fearful right now, yep, because now you.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
Gotta there's nothing to lose. Yep, there's no pressure right now.
You're out.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
If I'm out, I'm taking somebody with me. Yep. That's
the mentality that they should have.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Well, we'll see if they're still out, because there's still
some outside possibilities. And coach Shark was asked about his
chances to make the college football playoff.

Speaker 8 (29:41):
We got we got two weeks season in front of us.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
We gotta go play. We got two games, it's two weeks.

Speaker 8 (29:46):
Let's go play.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
Let's put our best foot forward.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
See to let the chips fall where they may. The
two games that they play, they win these next two games,
they can jump up between ten and because there's gonna
be other losses.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
Right, That's why I say they gotta come out and
play Texas football. And they're playing their final two games
against a team in Texas A and M, the last
game on Thanksgiving weekend.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
That that is a.

Speaker 5 (30:18):
Changer. But you have to handle Arkansas first.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Don't let one loss turn into two, because then the
conversation is definitely on a whole different subject. Coming up next,
we'll talk Texas men's and women's basketball, and let me
just say, those ladies continue to light it up right
here on the Morning Kickoff on sports Radio AM thirteen
hundred Zone. Welcome back to the morning kickoff right here

(30:46):
on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. Coming up
at the top of the hour, we'll talk college football
and the rankings. Aggie's do the unthinkable and the Sooners
get busy in Tuscaloos. We'll also have NFL recap and
so much more. But right now I want to get
right into the Texas women's basketball game against Texas Southern.

(31:11):
And let's just say, Aleah Crump, Madison Booker and all
those involved, God.

Speaker 5 (31:16):
Busy you are.

Speaker 10 (31:18):
You've got to be closer to Leah Crump than Texas
Southern was on that defensive possession.

Speaker 5 (31:28):
That was a little weird right there.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Well, Leah Crump, as she always does, finds a way
to hit the bucket and she continues to shoot the
ball well at the University of Texas.

Speaker 5 (31:39):
But you know who's one of the best players in
the country. That is Madison Booker.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Booker sets it up out to Crump to Bookker steps
inside the arc and the seventeen foot is good.

Speaker 10 (31:51):
Yeah, you just can't go to that all five people
go to the paint and transition against Texas. You can't initially,
but you've got to get out of there quickly and
get matched up.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
And of course Madison Booker continues to show her whereabouts
as a defensive player, and of course give me that bucket.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
Rory Harmon on the right wing swings it into the corner,
working at Tayana Jackson. The bouts passed in long work
almost broken up back to Jackson again four to shooting.
The ball knocked the way of stolen by Booker, but
all of American moved from the all America who scored.

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Yeah, great defense.

Speaker 10 (32:24):
We've seen Booker block a couple of threes on the
perimeter so far this season.

Speaker 5 (32:29):
And you know, she's so great in transition.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
And the young freshman Crump continues to advance in her
game because she can score any type of way.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
Crump hass it angling into the front corner, Leah and
I go all the way down a little euro step
to get around traffic to score off the glass.

Speaker 10 (32:48):
Well, there's the third level right there, Craig. She's hit
the three, She's hit the pull up jumper, and she
goes coast to coast.

Speaker 9 (32:53):
With the layup.

Speaker 5 (32:54):
Oh you heard that beat about to drop in the background.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
They have missed theical waiting owner and of course Ta Sedbury,
who scored a thousand points in her college career, finishes
with an and one.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
Bouts pass over the left side Palela sewer. Since the
pass had broke it up Black Crump, here's a lea
the freshman bounce passed, so the cutting Sidbury scores with
a foul great pass ind by the freshman Leah cl
Crump in the TAYO Sidbury. She gets the bucket ann.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
One TAA Sidbury six of six from the field, two
of two from three point lane, and four of five
from the free throw line. She had eighteen points. Justice
Carlton comes off the bench along with her and has twelve.
Kyla Oldacre has eleven, Aliah Crump with eighteen, Jordan Lee

(33:44):
with twelve, Roy Harmon with seven and four assists, and
of course Madison Booker with eighteen points.

Speaker 5 (33:52):
In the final score, well, they put it on.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
Them down with ten seconds remaining in the ball game.
Holmes trying to drive into the paint spin turns fade
away off for him. No good rebound Sitbury and that
will do it. Logorns down four and oh they top
one hundred points again.

Speaker 5 (34:08):
They went big finals scored this afternoon.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
The Texas Long Orange won eleven and the Texas Southern
Lady Tigers forty five and mark.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Just so we are clear, Texas got fifty points off
of turnover, sixty two points in the paint, twenty three
on fast break points and they got fifty three points
off of their bench.

Speaker 5 (34:30):
All right, Yeah, I know I'm kind of a Debbie downer, but.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
This Texas basketball team all they needed was a score mentality.
And I cause Vic got on me last year, Well, Mark,
we played defense.

Speaker 5 (34:53):
Hey he's got scoring.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Now he's got people that are not afraid to shoot it,
and they shoot it at a high rate. With their
defensive ability. What I said last year does not matter.
Now this is a whole new team. You watch them
score and you go, wow, you're gonna have trouble with that.

(35:17):
And then you add the fact that they may be
arguably the best defensive team in women's basketball.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
I just see nothing but the best.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
That their top four team, and they're gonna stay a
top four team all season.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
They're gonna continue to get better and better. Obviously, the
challenge is going to become from other teams. They've got
to get better by the time they get into conference play.
There's a lot of games that are gonna be going
on Texas men. They went out in one as well,
seventy one to fifty five. I was talking to some
fans that actually went to the game on Saturday, and

(35:55):
they were saying this wasn't Texas's best game. They didn't
look as sharp, but they're going to continue to get better.
And right now is your opportunity to win a pair
of tickets by using that talkback feature on the new
and improved and always free iHeartRadio app. Get over there
and we're gonna give away a pair of tickets to

(36:17):
go to tomorrow night's game against Rider. Rider comes into
the Moody Center. That game will tip off at eight o'clock.
All you got to do is leave us a voice message.
You only got thirty seconds to leave it there. Tell
us why you want to go to the game and
who you are taking, and you might get the phone

(36:37):
call about that game. Texas plays against Writer on Tuesday,
then they travel to Maui. They're going to the Southwest
Maui Invitational that will take place on Monday night. Texas
will take on Arizona State and they will play either
the winner or loser, depending on how they do against
Arizona State, against Washington State or Sham Not. That game

(37:01):
can be heard right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen
hundred The Zone.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Man, I'm gonna tell you something like they had four
guys on that team that almost had double doubles one
or two points away or two rebounds away. Like balance
is more important to me than having one guy that
can give you twenty five. You get four guys that
can give you ten and ten, whether it's rebounds or assists,

(37:31):
it's gonna be a hard day for you. And then
it's gonna come down to who's gonna make the last
amount of turnovers. And that was another thing where Texas
shined is the fact that they're making other teams turn
the ball over more than they're used to turn the
ball over, and they're not well.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
The one thing that you can look at and look
at this game that Texas still scored seventy one points,
but Tremont Mark didn't have his best game. Jordan Pope
struggled from the field, only making one of eleven from
the field, and that's not something that he's always going
to do.

Speaker 5 (38:08):
And I'll get a chance.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
We'll get a chance to hear from coach Sean Miller
today as he meets with the media before their matchup
against Ryder. Our number one is in the books, our
number two is just around the corner. We'll recap some
more of this Texas football game here from Coach Shark,
and of course take a look around the sec as

(38:31):
Texas A and M does something that they have not
done ever right here on the morning Kickoff on sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

Speaker 5 (38:41):
Welcome back to.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
Our number two oh the morning kickoff right here on
sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. We talked a
lot about the Texas Long Horn matchup in Athens, Georgia,
where the Longhorns came up thirty five to ten on
the losing end of that and how they have to
get ready for a big matchup against Arkansas, which we'll

(39:02):
kick off right here on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred
The Zone this Saturday from DKR Texas Memorial Stadium starting
at two a clock. We also recapped the Texas men's
victory over Kansas City seventy one to fifty five and
the big win for Texas women's basketball one eleven to

(39:25):
forty five over Texas Southern. Just wanted to make sure
that you are aware Coach Shark will have his media
availability today his press conference at eleven fifteen. Make sure
you tuned in to AM thirteen hundred The Zone or
the always free iHeartRadio app so you can hear what

(39:49):
coach Sark had to say and recap the game against
Arkansas and preview, I mean recap the game against Georgia
in preview the game against arc saw. A lot happened
in college football this past weekend, but nothing bigger than
what happened in aggieland the Aggies were down twenty seven

(40:13):
points to South Carolina. You remember the conversation we were
having during the break just a minute ago talking about
what this Arkansas game means and how I'm feeling about it.
I'm sure the folks in Aggie Land were feeling the
same way when they saw their team down thirty to
three going into halftime, only to come from behind to

(40:34):
win after trailing twenty seven points to win the game
thirty one to thirty. It was an ugly, ugly first
half for the Aggies at Texas A and M South Carolina,
and I'm gonna tell you the kiss of death was
Shane Beemer did an interview talking to the reporter and

(40:57):
he said, yeah, we're not these guys. We beat them
by twenty four points last year. They just thought we
were just gonna come out here and just lay down.
We're coming out here to compete said that during the interview,
Well so did at Texas A and M. They decided
they wanted to compete and they came from behind. This
marked entering Saturday teams were zero and two hundred and

(41:23):
eighty six in Southeastern Conference play since two thousand and
four when trailing by twenty seven points or more.

Speaker 5 (41:35):
Let me repeat that. I was just gonna ask you.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
Let me repeat that to repeat that entering Saturday teams
were zero in two hundred and eighty six and in
Southeastern Conference play since two thousand and four when trailing
by twenty seven points or more. That has been updated.

(41:58):
It is one in two hundred and eighty six. Because
the Haggies found a way to get it done. What
an unbelievable comeback. Marcel Reed, who had probably the ugliest
first half you could possibly have, came back and threw
for a career high four hundred and thirty nine yards
and three touchdowns to get that victory. Texas A and

(42:22):
M sits at seven and oh in conference play and
ten and oh overall, and it seems like they will
still be in the top three when it comes to
the college football rankings. The new top twenty five that
has come out has Texas A and M at number three,

(42:43):
with one receiving one vote for being the number one
team in the land, which is Ohio State Indiana Texas
A and M. Georgia moves up to number four, Ole
miss moves up to number five. Texas Tech is tied
at number six and ap pole with Oregon.

Speaker 5 (43:02):
Oklahoma moves up to number eight.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Notre Dame stays the same at number nine, Alabama number ten.
The Texas Longhorns, after their defeat, fall to number seventeen,
so they have some work to do. A new person
in the poll, North Texas. North Texas is at number
twenty two at nine to one. James Madison is at

(43:27):
twenty one, Tennessee is at twenty, Virginia is at nineteen,
Michigan is at eighteen. USC sixteen. After they struggled, but
they went up a little bit. Georgia Tech gets the victory,
but they go down. They're sitting at ninety one, Miami fourteen,
Utah Utes sitting at thirteen, Vanderbilt sitting at number twelve,

(43:52):
and as I said, the Oklahoma Sooners are sitting at eight.
So Texas has its work cut out for them. Oklahoma
went into Tuscaloosa to get the victory. Big victory for
the Sooners and a lot of work is still ahead
for this Texas Longhorn football team. And speaking of the

(44:13):
Texas Longhorn football team, we got a chance to hear
more from coach Sark, and Coach Sark was asked about
the struggles when finishing drives and is this a humble loss?

Speaker 5 (44:25):
It's a frustrating loss.

Speaker 8 (44:26):
I would say that it's frustrating because you feel like
you're prepared to play.

Speaker 5 (44:32):
I really did.

Speaker 8 (44:32):
I felt like our players would really engaged, ready to go.
I thought our staff was, everybody was. And like I said,
it's it's a fourteen to ten game, and it's a
really good team on the road.

Speaker 5 (44:43):
Let's go play the fourth quarter.

Speaker 8 (44:45):
And us just not playing the fourth quarter anywhere close
to what the standard is around here is very disappointing
and frustrating.

Speaker 5 (44:53):
I can't remember the first part. Explosive. Yeah, again, get
to your point on that. It's what I'll seeing earlier.

Speaker 8 (44:58):
It's like the so many kind of self inflicted things
offensively for us, that that was probably the most frustrating
part for me, because I don't think it was, like, man,
we could block them. I mean I felt like we
were blocking. Okay, I felt like we were getting open.
I felt like we want when we wanted to run it,
it was effective, we wanted to throw it. It was effective.

(45:20):
But kind of stubbing our own toe was the frustrating
part to me. Where to your point, stacking plays on
top of plays, that's what that's what we need to
do against quality opponents.

Speaker 5 (45:31):
You've got to be able to finish and finish strong
in those moments.

Speaker 1 (45:36):
Also, another part of it is what we talked about again, Mark,
you can't turn this one into another loss. You have
to come out and be prepared. And coach Sark was
talking about how things fell apart in the fourth quarter
to prevent it from carrying over to this week.

Speaker 8 (45:53):
I don't think it would carry over. We have too
much character in that locker room. We got too bit
of a culture. That that part is something that I know,
the leadership in that in that locker room we got
we got a ton of fighters. So that that's other concerns.
Stopping when nothing what's not my bigger money.

Speaker 1 (46:09):
Yeah, So he says, the team's gonna be locked in,
they're gonna be ready to go and that's the important
part of what's next. That's week to week improvement, right,
we talk about it all the time. You have to
be locked in and ready to go. You gotta flush
it and get ready for the next deal.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
Yeah, I'm hopefully we'll see some of the things that
we didn't see uh this Saturday. I'd love to see
uh Jeed sweet end around some maybe a couple of
runs from Arch with a convoy in front of him. Like,
just do things that you don't normally do that you

(46:47):
have the tools to do. Texas has all the tools
and the tool ship. It's just a matter of saying,
you know what we're gonna We're gonna put a couple
of drinkles in here, We're gonna do what we haven't done.
And and those are the things I intentionally want to do.
This to punch you in the face. So let me
ask you this, why do you think and those are

(47:09):
all great? Those are great, But why do you think
it has not happened because of the chance When you
run plays like that, there's a chance to turnover. And
but if you're behind, then you need to do something
to spark the team. And that's that's the thing that

(47:30):
in the losses that Texas has had, they haven't done
one thing that would spark the team.

Speaker 5 (47:37):
Georgia on side kick, what happened spark the team?

Speaker 2 (47:44):
Texas is lacking to spark the team plays and and
those are the things. Like you, football is a game
of momentum too. They always as us a game of interest.
It's the game of interest when you impose your will.
When have you seen Texas impose their will this season?
They've had close games. They're not imposed their will on anybody.

Speaker 5 (48:06):
Do they have the ability to do though? That though,
that's that they have all Americans on this team, so yes,
they have the tools to do it.

Speaker 1 (48:17):
I'm just thinking this is maybe it's just because this
game was so frustrating from the beginning. As you mentioned,
the drop passes, the the lack of execution, the false starts,
the things that.

Speaker 5 (48:33):
Have plagued this team all year long.

Speaker 2 (48:35):
These are things that have happened on You drop the
ball and you get pulled off the field and you
don't see the field to the fourth quarter. Maybe you'll
change your you'll catch the ball first.

Speaker 1 (48:45):
Or you can still stay out there. You're just not
gonna be my primary target. That too, I mean that
that to me, I mean Mosely earned the right. He
earned it was Moland earned the right. You have to
figure out you bring in a guy like uh injuries

(49:07):
and now injuries and now he doesn't even he's not
even a factor on our team?

Speaker 5 (49:13):
Like what am I missing?

Speaker 1 (49:14):
Like? Why is it that we have these types of
guys that we were hyping up at the beginning of
the year.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
How is Georgia's tight ends able to get free reigns
and wide open throws?

Speaker 5 (49:30):
Tell me that it's great, great question, Mark, great question.
And if you if you do, then while I'm spying
this is there's.

Speaker 1 (49:39):
A lot of questions that need to be answered. And
we've talked about this before. When you when you're in
a locker room like that with the All Americans, with
those types of players, what are we missing that we're
not able to execute at a high level?

Speaker 5 (49:59):
Those are the questions that I'm having. Coming up next, we're.

Speaker 1 (50:03):
Gonna go to the NFL bunch of game winners and
Mark had a question, is it time to bury the Chiefs?
I say no, but we shall see right here on
the morning kickoff on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
We've talked about a lot of college football. Now let's

(50:25):
get into the NFL. The NFL started this day Wild
and Willie Mark And as I told you before, I
told you on Friday, it was done. I was done
with the Atlanta Falcons if they don't start using bijon
the way that they're supposed to.

Speaker 5 (50:45):
Jon had a great game.

Speaker 1 (50:46):
He had two touchdowns, twenty three carries one hundred and
four yards. But they lost to the Panthers. They lost
to the Panthers once again. The Falcons were my team
that I thought was going to shine in the NFC South.
All they've done is disappointed me. And so now after yesterday,

(51:09):
what are you doing? I am done with the Atlanta
Falcons as a team.

Speaker 5 (51:15):
Not be Jean.

Speaker 1 (51:16):
But Jean is still in there. But Jean is still
in there. He's still doing what he do. But that team,
that coaching staff, in the way that they use their players,
say it, say it or not, who they are, they
gotta go. No, I ain't get rid of them.

Speaker 5 (51:31):
Oh I'm not.

Speaker 1 (51:32):
I'm not jumping out there like that. It's gonna be
hard to replace them. Who you're gonna get there's a
lot of that going around. They still trying to figure
out who they hiring them around here. But yesterday there
were a bunch of game winners throughout yesterday's games.

Speaker 5 (51:55):
It's quit through.

Speaker 6 (51:58):
Thebat, a tall finish with it in betray Santos puts
it up bed the comeback kids, Chicago Bears do it
again from twenty eight and Carolina.

Speaker 5 (52:34):
Has one. He's already made four today. Lutz in the
trucks and the Broncos have won it. Mattew rightful the
word the kick right out Broadway.

Speaker 6 (52:54):
We're the heart of Nationhville, and what a performance by
the Texans behind Davis Mills as Cam war brings his
team back to a tie one and nine a. The
Titans as five and five in playoff. Hopeful of Houston Texans,
We'll get out of here.

Speaker 5 (53:15):
With a victory.

Speaker 1 (53:17):
As you heard, a lot of those matchups came down
to the very end, a bunch of clutch kicks. Yesterday,
the forty nine Ers defeated the Arizona Cardinals forty one
to twenty two. Jacoby Brissett for the Cardinals throw the
ball fifty seven times and had forty seven completions four

(53:38):
hundred and fifty two yards, but it was not enough,
as brock Perty made his appearance once again back as
the starting quarterback and threw three touchdown passes as they
won forty one to twenty two. You also started today,
as you heard, with that game in Madrid where the

(53:59):
Dolphin sixteen to three. You'll hear that's right, folks, You're
definitely gonna hear from our guy, Mike McDaniel as he
talked about the victory.

Speaker 11 (54:10):
Well, it was a privilege to be here in the
first place, with an incredible city.

Speaker 5 (54:14):
I was finally able to get out.

Speaker 11 (54:18):
Into the city a little bit on Friday, uh, and
just overwhelmed with the culture. The Yeah, I've never been
in a in a city this big and this clean before.
And you want to talk about some good bread any

(54:39):
anywhere I go, there's an awesome bread. So but to
play here, to be the inaugural game was a was
a privilege and we really wanted to, you know, bring
it home with a win. So it was a very
good team win that we felt honored to be here
and glad we came up with.

Speaker 2 (54:59):
W Guys, I just want to let y'all know that
was not a I. That's really him. That is really him.

Speaker 5 (55:09):
Yes, yes, he said a city is big. Yeah, and clean.
I've never been. I've never been. Yes, yes, and with
great bread, great bread. Mark. How about the architecture, like I,
he wasn't there for the architecture.

Speaker 2 (55:29):
I've been to Barcelon, I've been to Madrid in Catalonia,
and the first thing that strikes you is the architecture
and the narrow streets.

Speaker 5 (55:40):
With the with the bricks and the rock. Not for
Mike McDaniel, no cracks. The roads have been there for
a thousand years. Clean. But did you try to bread?

Speaker 1 (55:49):
But I didn't try to bread, obviously, because that would
have been the worst. I think you was not You
was not Mark, You was not Mike McDaniel is the
best tour guide that you could have.

Speaker 5 (56:04):
He's in charge. But you know what they need to do.

Speaker 2 (56:07):
They need to limit his microphone time. No, we you
know we do need that for the show that I'm
just what would Mike do? He would eat bread? He
would eat bread on the trip to hang out with him? Absolutely,
because I want to I want to hear him in thought.

Speaker 1 (56:28):
I want to hear him that is thought. You want
to hear him without having to think. You just want
him to be himself.

Speaker 5 (56:35):
That right, there. He's trying to not say anything wrong
and then he does every single time, or or he
doesn't say anything at all.

Speaker 1 (56:47):
Right, guys, I just he was very active on the
sideline during that game yesterday.

Speaker 5 (56:51):
I'm very happy to be here.

Speaker 2 (56:53):
I mean hopefully, you know, Mike is you know, very
aware of himself, and Marcus is doing a great job
on the board, and maybe he'll.

Speaker 5 (57:07):
Do something that we haven't seen him do before. Here's
the real question for you. He says stuff, this is
so crazy, the same here's the real question for you.
Does he keep his job even with these three wins
in a row.

Speaker 2 (57:21):
I do not think he keeps his job because of
what we're talking about right now. He has overwhelmed himself
with failure as a coach, but also confusion and lack
of leadership and the inability to put a clear thought together. Like,

(57:41):
how do you want that guy leading his team? If
I'm a Pro Bowl defensive tackle and I walk into
the locker room and everybody's making jokes about my coach
at the podium after the game, I'm.

Speaker 5 (57:57):
Like, why y'all keep letting him talk. I'm gonna ask,
I'm gonna why we're laughing? Stop if you're the general
manager of the team, you should go too, because you
hired him. Well, he already is gone.

Speaker 1 (58:13):
They did get they got rid of him, which is
why people are saying he is going to be gone
because it's not the GM, the GM who's going to
take over.

Speaker 5 (58:23):
It's not his guy. So you're gonna end up seeing
possible change there.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
And you know you're firing him now because then you
make ruffles. But just let him finish the season.

Speaker 9 (58:33):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (58:34):
So here's here's two things, bless you. Two things that
I was almost gotta pull my hams.

Speaker 5 (58:43):
Today. I'm old.

Speaker 1 (58:46):
But you sit here and you look at the Bears.
The Bears what they were able to do. They win again.
They go into Minnesota, they are sitting at six and three,
I mean seven and three. You heard the game winning
field goal. They win nineteen to seven. But the story
has to be what happened to the Chargers. The Chargers
lose the game to the Jacksonville Jaguars thirty five to sixty,

(59:11):
I mean thirty five to six. The Chargers a team
that needed this victory because of what's going on in
the AFC, where the Denver Broncos defeat the Chiefs, Mark
thinks we need to put dirt on the Chiefs. The
Broncos win again and are sitting at nine in two,

(59:32):
six and zero at home and finding a way to
get it done.

Speaker 5 (59:37):
Is it pretty Nope, not even close.

Speaker 1 (59:39):
But if you had to look at it and a
game was on the line, you would have to look
at the Broncos in them being able to sit at
nine in two. In the AFC West, Chargers sitting at
seven and four. You look at Jacksonville in the AFC South,
they are sitting at six and four, with the Indianapolis
Colts at eight and two. The Pittsburgh Steelers get the victory,

(01:00:03):
but they may be without Aaron Rodgers as he thinks
he has a fracture in his left wrist. They're sitting
at six and four. And of course the New England
Patriots at nine and two, Buffalo Bills seven and three.
Just like we thought it was going to happen, All
those teams that we're talking about, we all thought they

(01:00:24):
were gonna be there.

Speaker 5 (01:00:26):
Nope, No we didn't. No, we did, we didn't do well, No,
we did not.

Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
Coming up next, we'll hear from the world's strongest man
as he brings us his world's strongest take right here
on the morning kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred.

Speaker 5 (01:00:40):
This is all you heard that be drop? You know
what that means?

Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
WWE Hall of famerry World's Strongest Man, the Mark Henry
brings you the world's strongest.

Speaker 5 (01:00:53):
TAKEE take it away, big fellow hard what's up? Man?
You know what time it is? What time is it?

Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
Fifty time for the world's strongest take by the world's
strongest man, MICUs.

Speaker 5 (01:01:08):
Back then they didn't know me. Now I'm hot, they
all on me.

Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
Well, guys, I know y'all probably thought, after seeing Caleb
Williams win and go from worst to first in the
North in the NFC North, that I would be talking
about Caleb. You would be wrong, because I'm I might

(01:01:39):
have over exaggerated when I said that I was gonna
be positive today, especially being at Marcus didn't like it
very much. Kent City Chiefs mars the five and five
five hundred for the first time in many, many years,

(01:02:02):
even before Andy Reid. It's crazy the fact that they
are five and five and they are closer to the
Las Vegas Raiders, They're closer to the Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 5 (01:02:18):
Okay, nobody's close to them.

Speaker 2 (01:02:22):
The Cleveland Browns, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Miami Dolphins, who
we largely consider them to be a laughing stock. That's
who they're close to. They're not close to a New
England Patriots who are nine and two, are Buffalo who's

(01:02:42):
seven and three. They're not close to even the Pittsburgh
Steelers in the North at six and four.

Speaker 5 (01:02:52):
They're not close to Indy who's eight and two, and Jacksonville.

Speaker 2 (01:02:57):
Jaguars that are six and four. You're a bargain basement
team in the NFC.

Speaker 5 (01:03:06):
And hard.

Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
I think it's time to break out the shovels and
put dirt on the Kansas City Chiefs for this season.

Speaker 5 (01:03:17):
What's their year? Not doing it? Not putting them down.
Can't do it, won't do it.

Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
Still believe there's an outside chance of them being able
to get themselves into the playoffs. This is going to
be the challenge though for me. Mark, they lost to
the Buffalo Bills one score game. They lost to the
Denver Broncos yesterday in a one score game. You know

(01:03:48):
the difference in those last year, in those one score
games they won them. They won eleven one score games
last year. Now they're on the losing end of it.
The loss to the Eagles one score early in the season,
lost to the Chargers one score game.

Speaker 5 (01:04:07):
I guess you could say it was.

Speaker 1 (01:04:11):
The flip of the script where you knew you couldn't
survive on those one score games. The thing that needs
to change for them is next week. If they lose
next week against the Colts, who are eight and two,
then you can say you can put some dirt on them.
You look at the Cowboy game Thanksgiving Day. They play
the Cowboys, they beat the Cowboys, they're still in it.

(01:04:35):
If they win that game. Then they played the Texans.
They can win that one. Chargers, I just told you
they got boat raced by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Then they
played the Terrible Titans. Then they finish up with the
Broncos and the Raiders.

Speaker 5 (01:04:55):
Why you didn't mention it, Houston? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
I did you think that they can beat the Texans,
and they can beat the Coats.

Speaker 5 (01:05:04):
They may be able to beat the Cowboys. Maybe.

Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
I do believe that there's still the Kansas City Chiefs.
The thing is Damian Woody said it. They're nobody scared
of them.

Speaker 5 (01:05:16):
Anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
Nobody's afraid of what the Chiefs bring to the table anymore.
Just Patrick Mahomes need to play better. Absolutely. Do they
need to have some sort of running game. Absolutely, But
you can't tell me with all those weapons that they have,
and they have a plethora of weapons. Xayvi, you're worthy,
Hollywood Brown, Rashi, Rice Travis Kelcey, Noah Brown, Kareem Hunt.

Speaker 5 (01:05:42):
Yes, and they still have Patrick and Andy Reid.

Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
I'm gonna hit you with two things. Come on, they
lost something ouch, they lost something very very very very
very valuable. What's that Pachecko? When they lost Pachecko, they
lost that girl that gets those tough yards and not

(01:06:06):
having that is shown is exposed them as a one
dimensional team. In an NFL, you cannot be one dimensional.
And the second thing, Patrick Mahomes has become predictable. So

(01:06:26):
why when they put him in a predictable spot he
can't recover?

Speaker 5 (01:06:36):
They know that they could drop eight and then when
he starts to scramble, then they come up.

Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
It's not good for him because it forces him to
run more clock. They're allowing Patrick to scramble and run
because they know that they can.

Speaker 5 (01:06:57):
He's going to affect the game because they're usually behind.

Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
If you get If that's the case and that's the strategy,
well let's get a lead and let's force them to
run the clock. Don't let them hit us deep. We
know they have deep we know they have deep weapons. Right,
Let's don't let them do it. They're sending three man
rush at him and forcing him to run and scramble.

Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
He's getting tired, is what's happening. Well, I think anybody
would have been tired in Denver. That airr is a
little bit thin. But to your point, I still believe
that this can be a playoff team. And if they
do get in the playoffs, what do.

Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
You do you want to face that? No, because you
know Patrick is dangerous and they have weapons. But the NFL,
more than any league in any sport, the defense, the
offense is always ahead.

Speaker 5 (01:07:55):
Of the defense.

Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
And then the defense catches up, and you know what,
they catch up the playoffs and Patrick, God bless you.
But I'm going to the garage and get the shovel.
That's where I keep it in the garage, right by

(01:08:17):
the door. I'm glad, I'm glad.

Speaker 5 (01:08:19):
I'm glad. You don't keep it in the house. You
help me dig this whole. Nope, not part of that one,
but any other one. Possibly you want to see a
dead party, I'm not looking at it.

Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
I refuse, I can't. I can't accept that yet. Jeeves,
they right over there? And are they just like the Cowboys?

Speaker 3 (01:08:38):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (01:08:39):
Speaking of the Cowboys, they're coming up next.

Speaker 1 (01:08:41):
They play tonight and we will talk about it because
they are getting some reinforcements and I need to make
sure one thing is true. I'll tell you about it
right here on the Morning Kickoff on sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred The Zone. Welcome back to the Morning Kickoff
right here on Sports Radio A teen hundred The Zone.
If you missed any parts of the Morning Kickoff, all

(01:09:04):
you got to do is get over to the podcast
page wherever you get your podcasts, but of course it's
best to have it on the always free iHeartRadio app.
You can get us there. We're number one on your preset,
so make sure that you check it out. Also make
sure you tuned in all after noon long. We will

(01:09:25):
have coach Sark meeting with the media at eleven fifteen,
but it will start with myself, Craig Way, and Cam
Parker as we get you ready for Coach sarks meeting
with the media availability this afternoon as they recap the
Georgia Bulldog game and of course preview the big game

(01:09:47):
against Arkansas. As we will be back on Bevo Boulevard
this weekend starting at eleven thirty right here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred the Zone, as we are the
home of the Texas Longhorns. Make sure you tuned in
this afternoon from two to five with the voice of
the Texas Longhorns, Craig Way and the Craig Way Show.

(01:10:10):
And they too will give you an opportunity to win
a pair of tickets to go see Rider this week.
Matter of fact, gonna give you another opportunity.

Speaker 5 (01:10:18):
To win a pair of tickets right now. All you
got to do is get over to that.

Speaker 1 (01:10:21):
Always free iHeartRadio app, tap that read microphone and leave
us a voice message talking about why you would like
those tickets and who you will be taking with you
to that matchup. Mark tonight Texas and Texas. Tonight the
Dallas Cowboys, which you can be heard on ninety eight

(01:10:44):
points kvet well, they're in Las Vegas. They'll be taking
on the Raiders. Monday Night Football in all signs point
to one Texas Longhorn, the marvi and overshow being able
to be back on the field once again.

Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
I think it's gonna be really, really good for the Cowboys,
being that you're going to have a fresh linebacker that
actually knows how to play linebacker, playing with another guy
that was an All Pro linebacker last year, and being
that you have to double team one of those defensive

(01:11:23):
tackles for the Cowboys now. I think there's gonna be
a big change for them, But I don't see them
being like the top defense in the league. But I
think they'll be a hell of a lot better than
they was the previous game.

Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
Well, this also be the first game since the death
of Marshawn Kneelan. Obviously, this is going to be an
emotional time for the Dallas Cowboys. They spoke about it
earlier last week when they got back to practice or
and was just you know, trying to work their way
through all of this. So never want to go out

(01:11:59):
there in a situation like that or ever have to
deal with something like that. This is also the first
game that defensive standout Quinn Williams will be playing for
the Dallas Cowboys. You brought up the fact of trying
to double team and if you're gonna be able to
double team. The ironic thing about Texas, I mean Texas,
the Dallas Cowboys is there in second place in the

(01:12:22):
a f Ceast still, I mean NFC East. They are
in second place behind the Philadelphia Eagles who won last
night against Detroit. That they're sitting at eight and two
Cowboys Still, I'm not even gonna go there. It's not
even worth the time.

Speaker 5 (01:12:38):
They just they're there. They're in a situation.

Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
Can we use the second what they're in a better
situation than the Chiefs, their ranking number two in their
in their conference. If they can win out, just like
you were saying, if some and buts, if the Chiefs
can win, if the chief if the Chiefs, if the Chiefs,
if the Cowboys went out, they will be number two,

(01:13:05):
and they will be in that wild Cord spot.

Speaker 5 (01:13:08):
They will not be They'll they'll be all right. The
Chiefs they're like in sixth place. Cowboys Cowboys are in seven. Yeah,
So I'm sitting here looking at it.

Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
They gotta play the Raiders tonight, then they they play
against the Eagles, the Chiefs, the Lions, the Vikings.

Speaker 5 (01:13:33):
They'll beat the Chargers and the Commanders. They'll win the
last two games of the year. Oh wow, that's don't
do that, I'm saying. I don't believe that. I think
that you always come in here with these down questions.

Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
Always, Mike, shut up, Mike, like the it's horrible, horrible
take by you.

Speaker 5 (01:13:56):
You know you just did that. You just did. That
doesn't set me.

Speaker 2 (01:14:01):
That's all you did, Gasoline, And then with hey, Mark
borrow Man, that's what you just did. The Cowboys are
gonna win, Mike, just win, baby, I mean the Raiders, Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (01:14:18):
Hey, look, the only reason why I am even close
to being remotely excited about tonight's game is we get.

Speaker 5 (01:14:26):
A China have eight wins.

Speaker 1 (01:14:27):
We're gonna finish with eight, then maybe I can catch
that ticket seven and a half wins over under seven
and a half. We're sitting here right now and Marvin Overshawan,
as we talked about, was gonna get his chance to play.
He will be agent zero once again. He said that
he will probably cry when he walks out onto that

(01:14:50):
football field because of the journey that he's been on,
the things that he's gone through, the struggles with the
injuries and still trying to be positive to get back
out there. The one question that I need to have asked,
if he come out there with them short shorts on again,
I'm gonna have a real, real issue. And don't be

(01:15:12):
fooled because he's wearing tights. You could be like, oh, no,
he had all them. No, I've seen videos. He is
out there wearing them Oklahoma kicker shorts. And if he
comes out and I am going to roast him if
this happens, Overshawn, please please please do not come out

(01:15:34):
there with them span deex on and try to pull
it off as some football player.

Speaker 5 (01:15:41):
No, bro, do not do that.

Speaker 1 (01:15:43):
And I've seen you in your little cowboy boots. I've
seen you in your jeans. You like Huggies, you like stuff,
you like stuff. He was wearing your Jersesey from when.

Speaker 5 (01:15:56):
You went to I don't condone any of the things
that Mike is saying right now.

Speaker 9 (01:16:03):
That is not me.

Speaker 5 (01:16:05):
This is why are you criticizing my cowboys? No, I'm
criticized man.

Speaker 1 (01:16:10):
Hold On.

Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
I had two positive things to say, and I'm scared
to say them now because I might my.

Speaker 5 (01:16:15):
Take will be extrud what you said.

Speaker 1 (01:16:19):
Well, here's the deal, Mark, I'm I'm I'm on one
because I'm upset.

Speaker 5 (01:16:25):
This has not been the weekend of football that I needed.
I need more.

Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
I went to the Spurs game yesterday and Wimby didn't
even play.

Speaker 5 (01:16:36):
I'm sorry about that. So it's been rough. It's been rough.
It's been a rough weekend for you.

Speaker 1 (01:16:40):
And if the Cowboys come out here and Marvin overshow,
they're gonna help you.

Speaker 5 (01:16:44):
They're gonna help you.

Speaker 2 (01:16:46):
The Cowboys are gonna win this game, okay, And I'm
gonna give you those two reasons real quick.

Speaker 5 (01:16:51):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
The cornerbacks are not gonna be on the island for
four seconds now. They're gonna be playing closer. And secondly,
the linebackers are gonna be able to cover these other
guys and tackle these the other linebackers.

Speaker 5 (01:17:07):
Those guys were working at home depot last week.

Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
So now you have two legitimate Pro Bowl style linebackers.
I think the Cowboys defense is gonna be fine.

Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
Okay, Well we'll see, and we'll have all of that
recap tomorrow morning right here on the morning kickoff. We'll
also recap coach Shark's media availability. We'll hear from Sean Miller,
and of course it's Tuesday, so we will definitely hear
from Mark VanderMeer, the voice of the Houston, Texas. For
Mark Henry, for Marcus, I'm harball hard and just remember this,

(01:17:42):
don't believe everything you see, because even salt looks like sugar.

Speaker 5 (01:17:45):
Will be better tomorrow, folks. Ace

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
