Speaker 2 (02:21):
But we're gonna tell you how they got there.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
For them to win their first ever national championship. Let
me just start it by saying this, Mike White, love you, man.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
You have done an unbelievable job. Your energy is infectious.
I see the way that the team reacts to you.
You you have great leadership skills, I'll say that. And
you finally get a chance to dance the dance that
you want to by winning the national championship, and the

(02:53):
club exactly give us the club Now.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
I'm so happy that we made the acquaintance to him,
and he comes on the show and gives his time regularly,
and I think that that's one of the things that
makes him so personable is the fact that he realizes
that he's got to.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Go go out and make sure that they have a
platform for his women, no doubt. And I love that.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
I love the fact that how much he respects the
sport and respects the people that's playing it.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
No doubt.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
And this is how it happened. In the first inning,
Texas got the party started and they did not relinquish
up with Reese Atwood coming up to the play.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Obstructed the catcher's view trying to get the runners to
steal oh one wine shot in the left field of
base hit Henry being center around third up with it.
The left fielder Elder. Her throw hits the third basement,
rolls away. Both runners advance and the Longhorns lead. Won
nothing in the first inning, second and third.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
And just one out.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
They only had one out, but then they went right
back to work.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Next matter was Katie Steel and she was like, I
want to have some fun too, aren't you?

Speaker 4 (04:04):
And she swings lines that through the right side of base.
Hit Scott comes across Atwood Hell at third base.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
It's two nothing. Texas in the first.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Inning didn't want to push the issue because they knew
something good was going to happen, and lean Good made it.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Happen about yesterday.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
In the seventh inning, hit a soft fly ball the
left center that fell for a double. First pitch here
fly ball left center, Davis on.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
The move, looking up, it's over the fence. Leanne Good
a three run bomb, and Texas leeds five nothing in.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
The first They got the party started in.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
The first but didn't what you did right? Man? You
like that? You liked that?

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Then they continued the hit parade in the sixth inning.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
The party was it over?

Speaker 4 (04:50):
What Stuart ropes it in the gap right center field again,
that hits the ground, rolling on the way to the
wall that went around third base. She scores Stewart in
the second, six nothing Texas in.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
The Texas continued to work.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
But then that girl, that special player, the one that
everybody has been talking about all week, put the finishing
note on what has been a great career. When won,
Mia Scott said, this thing is over to two.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
Why ball center field high in deep a grand slam
for Mia Scott.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
The Longhorns are piling on ten nothing.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
In the fourth, That's what it's all about. They went
on to close out the game, lit the tower ten
to four. They wanted to run rule, but they ended
up playing seven innings and needless to say one Mike
White was really excited, but I want you to hear
the final call as our guy Andrew Haynes put the

(06:14):
cherry on top of a great season.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
One l pitch grounded the short backheaded by good fires
the first Texas wins the National Championship. It's a dog

(06:47):
pile between the circle and the first baseline. Twenty ninth
season in program history, eighth trip to the Women's College

(07:08):
World Series and for the third time in the last
four years they go to the Championship Series.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
This time they get it done.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Very proud of the man, very very proud of me,
and I want you to hear from Mike White after
it was all said, Mike White as we talked about
his career is something that has been very very special,
well documented and now he gets to finally hoist that trophy.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
He did it. How's it feel? Surreal?

Speaker 6 (07:43):
I'm not play sure it's real, you know, but jumping
out there at five nothing leave was awesome. The girls
really wanted to get it done and do a part
of the team meanings. You're gonna hear some of the
stuff they were saying, and they believe the whole time,
and we believe when they believe, we believe he did
can give on in the first in he didn't load
it is how much did that take a weight off
of you and get the offense, immlementarm getting men of

(08:05):
Davids That was a challenge for this that for us
this week and Uh, she did that today. She did
a pretty good job. Obviously the bund in the end,
but for the most part we took.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Care of business. Uh.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Late in the game, had a chance to run roll
them the Caseine just got a little you know, too
trying too much, maybe trying to get it done.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Yeah, there was some dudo going on.

Speaker 6 (08:22):
People would backing up in the dugout waiting and come
out on the field. I was like, man, that's like
packing the bats up all the games done. You just
don't do that, right. So I think we learned something
about that. And of course, you know, tip the stick
didn't lay down. They came out swinging the bats. And
how about this team? What can you say about what
this group did, fighting through adversity all year, fighting through

(08:42):
that super regional and finally getting over the over the hill. Wow,
that's a good question.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Tell me.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
I had to kind of circulate my mind for a
little bit. But uh, you know, it's it's just right now.
I'm just so happy for the senior. So we talked
about leaving the Juessey and a better place after for
wear Is. And now they said to a national champ,
he has to be in the three College Wild Series finals.
What a legacy they lived with this program. Mike White,
national champion.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Congratulations.

Speaker 6 (09:08):
I like the sound of that.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
I'd be hookham.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
I like the sound of that for you, my brother,
I love the sound of that for you, Mark. You know,
we were just talking about the numbers and the expectation
of so many other people, and you look at what
Mike White was able to do in the history of
Mike White and this program where it was to where

(09:33):
it is now, they have done an unbelievable job of
the ultimate achievements.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Yeah, and we talk about the standard being the standard.
Like now he can say when he walks in a
room at the University of Texas that he is a
national championship coach. He added to the mystique of what
the University of Texas is. And he didn't just knock
out They didn't just win the national championship.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
They anguished the foes. Yep.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
And that was the thing that I really wanted for
I didn't want Tennessee to beat them. I didn't want
somebody else to beat Oklahoma. They wanted three years in
a row. When you beat a dynasty team four times
in a row, when you beat a dynasty team, that
solidifies you as being great an elite. And that's what
Mike White is as a coach, and that's what his

(10:24):
team is and they will live on forever and at Texas.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Hookham twenty two posted this Mike White. Since he's been
at Texas, three hundred and sixteen wins, seven seventy one
winning percentage, twenty twenty four Big twelve regular season champs,
six Super regionals, he's never missed one, three trips to
the Women's College World Series, two national runner ups, and

(10:53):
he's finally kicked in the door to become a national champion.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Congratulations to this. There's so much more. There's so much more.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
That we are going to continue to cover because the
historical relevance of this program from the cat Austruments all
the way down. Now they finally finally get their national championship.
They've got the tower lit, they had a celebration, and

(11:25):
I'm gonna bring up a number that is gonna shock
you when you start to think of all the programs
at the University of Texas. Coming up next, we're gonna
talk about the fact that.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
The House settlement has been announced.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Dollar dollar bill, y'all, and what exactly does that mean?
Right here on a Longhorns Monday edition of the Morning
Kickoff on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred design here come that.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Money the House.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Seven.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Welcome back to a.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Longhornse Monday edition of the Morning Kickoff right here on
Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone, Mike Harball, hars World.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Strongest Man, WWE Hall of Famer, the Mark.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Henry, and of course we've got our guy Marcus on
the boards. Coming up in the next segment of the
Harge Knox Life segment, I will be talking girl Dad,
and I'll explain why I'm talking girl Dad. But right
now I want to get into this conversation about the

(12:29):
House settlement and what exactly does it all mean. It
is amazing to me that now we are living in
a life of college recruitment and the fact that student
athletes are now receiving name likeness and name image and likeness,

(12:53):
but also now they can receive it from the universities
has been signed to where the settlement leads you to
the point that as a student at the elite the
university can universities can now pay their student athletes up

(13:15):
to two point eight billion dollars coming from the universities.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Now that's as a whole. Not one university has a
billion dollars.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
But you know what I mean when I say that,
And it's interesting in so many different levels for all
Division I athletes. But here is the other part that
is interesting to me. You can still get money from
other deals. You could still do a commercial for Covert,

(13:49):
which we both did. We can still do commercials for
all of the other industries that are out there. But
now scholarship players are everybody. Scholarship player now now gets
an opportunity to get paid from the university. So Pete
Damil kind of touched on what it is and how

(14:11):
this is going to work.

Speaker 7 (14:13):
Well, I think we have to start from the macro.
The formal settlement last night around six' Ten West coast
time is a giant moment in the history of college.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Sports and it's.

Speaker 7 (14:24):
So significant because schools can now directly share revenue with
athletes after generations of payments going under the table black.
Market we've seen them pop up in federal court and
other places and see infractions cases in different. Ways the
biggest takeaway from the macro for the common fan here
is that schools can pay, athletes and that is. Significant

(14:46):
it is not, unexpected but it's been. Formalized as for
the next steps and the sprinter you're talking, About, phil
it is going to be. Messy an entire new infrastructure
for enforcement has to be put into place By july.
FIRST nil deals are going to start going through a
clearinghouse called nil, go which is run through the accounting
form Firm, deloitte Starting june, eleventh That's. Wednesday so this

(15:10):
is going to be a summer of very few vacation,
homes a lot of sprinting for athletic department members around
the country to try to adjust to this new.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Reality so when you start to think about how this
all is going to break, down the universities are going
to pay and let's just.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Use texas for.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Example you know he talked about the infrastructure and how
all the.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Formalities if all of.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
These universities saw this coming, down they've got everything in,
place they've already it's Not, oh it. Happens, now let's
go back and try to get everything. Organized they've been
working on this for a, month for a, year because
you knew it was out, there you knew it was
going to end up. Happening so here's some of the
things in some of the details that are in there that.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Really should be dove.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Into if any player has AN nil deal that's over
six hundred, dollars think about that six hundred.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Dollars it must be approved by the.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Clearinghouse they were talking about college baseball on this my
Boy Kendall. Rogers he, says schools are now allowed to
have unlimited to offer unlimited scholarships normally the thirty four
IN d. One but there's so many other things that
need to be broken down that you still have to
try to find out who's going to be able to

(16:42):
financially have, this because it's not just, men it's women,
Also so it's across the. Board so each university has
twenty point five million dollars that they are going to
spread out through all of college athletics, now scholarship, wise
and everything else that goes into.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
That we'll find out.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
More we'll get a chance to talk To Joe cook
Of Inside, Texas Danny davis Of The, statesman our Guy
Eric henry Of horace twenty four to. Seven they will
all break it down for us all week on what
they're hearing and what they're. Seeing But, mark this is an,
epic epic time to be a college. Athlete you have

(17:24):
a college athlete and your Son jacob at this.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Time this is, amazing it Is it's an amazing. Time
it's good for all of the. Kids it's What ed
O'Bannon envisioned when he started the lawsuit with THE ncaa
and took them to federal court and won.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Two thousand and, two two thousand and, three two thousand and.
TWO i believe it is what it. Was it was
a long time ago and it's just now coming to.
Fruition and the thing.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
That should be noted as well is you have the
two year guarantee, Now so if you sign with The
university Of texas and you you you get that money
and you get that you have to be there for
that two. Years so it's the one and done is
over with if you accept the. Money, now if you're

(18:17):
A cooper, flag if you're an arch, manning you don't
have to accept the money from the. University you still
can play for, him but they can't own your. Rights
so now your rights are in your. Control and there's
going to be probably about one hundred maybe guys that
are able one hundred, overall AND i On texas, Team

(18:39):
i'm talking about one hundred and the entire ENCOMPASSING ncaa
that will be able to say, NO i WANT i
want my rights AND i want my nil with that
vary on.

Speaker 8 (18:55):
Sport BECAUSE i would see basketball as the most likely
sport that.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Too, well every top quarterback in the top twenty, FIVE
i guarantee you it's going to be, Like, NAH i
want my, Rights so IF i want to, LEAVE i can. Leave,
yeah but more likely and you won't be able to
have my rights WHEN i do. Leave more likely.

Speaker 8 (19:15):
Football if you're that, guy you're not walking away as
easy if you're.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Established, yeah and there's a lot of quarter like the
quarterback that played FOR unlv that you know he left
the school he handed up with.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Nothing, yeah, yeah you gotta be. Smart Nothing, now that
won't happen because if he signed away his, rights he'll
get that money for two. Years and if he.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Decides Well i'm going to, leave they still have your,
rights so you.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Might you. Can't you can go play for, somebody but
they can't pay. You, yeah it's. Interesting, well there's.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
So much craziness that's got to be worked out and.
People so you can't listen to your parents unless they
are so versed on all.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Of this that they can actually be.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Helpful, yeah we definitely have to start reading up on
all of.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
This and here's some.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
Of the juice of this deal right, here THE ncaa
will pay back nearly two point eight billion in back
damages over the next ten years to the athletes who
competed in college at the time from twenty, sixteen twenty

(20:34):
sixteen through the present.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
DAY i think that's unfair because you go back To
ed O'Bannon in two thousand and two and you go
to The longhorns in two thousand and.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
Five but here's the, difference and here's the important part of.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
This you know.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
THIS i was told. THIS i was a part of.
This that's why we. Strike that's why you go on
strike for the next, person for the next. Generation, yeah
you you did what you needed to do to fight
the good. Fight but we don't always get the reward
because we fought that. Fight it's those that come after

(21:14):
us that get the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of your.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Labor, Yeah Kenny simms to.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Our rip to our great, Fan Kenny. Simms, Kenny kenny.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Played through a broken leg before to go on strike
for these kids to now make what they make in THE.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
Nfl so it's a it's a it's a step in
the right.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
Direction and now it's gonna be convoluted like, crazy exactly
exactly coming up next in A Hard Knocks, Life i'm
a girl, dad And i'm gonna tell you Why i'm
really happy to be that right here on the morning
kickoff On Sports radio and thirteen hundred The.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
Zone All, Right i'm.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
Really, really really am excited about this segment and the
reason Why i'm excited about it is we have come
so far in athletics to now be able to set
world records on viewership for not just, athletics but specifically

(22:25):
for women's. Athletics we knew about the Honorable Caitlin clark
numbers that she was able to, create and yes there's
always going to be some arguments and debates about why or.
How it doesn't. Matter there is a house settlement for college.

(22:49):
Athletics there is the payments that will be, made and
things have.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
Changed it is.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
The exact same way in women's athletics are starting to
be able to be viewed by so many people on
so many, platforms and people are excited about. It The
World Series game one Of texas Versus texas set had

(23:18):
two point one million viewers watching women's. Softball it peaked
at two point eight. Million it's up eleven percent over
last Year's game. One the Entire College World series averaged

(23:43):
one point one million, views that's up twenty five percent
over last. Year you start to look at athletics as a.
Whole they're becoming more. Marketable they're becoming the faces of the.

(24:04):
Sport you are looking at the records along the way
and understanding, that, hey they're talented.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
Too they've got a lot going.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
On they're able to make things happen that we truly enjoy.
Watching when we were watching women's, basketball you think About,
texas And i'll keep it. Local you think About, Texas
you think about The Rory, harmon's you think about The
Madison Booker.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
Texas joining THE sec.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Was a great thing because you got to See South
carolina and what they've been able to do in THE.
Sec you look across college, Basketball tennessee always been in the,
conversation regardless of ups and downs that they may have
because Of Pat. Summit she was one hell of a
coach AND i know she's been, gone but that program
continues to. Roll you look At geno and what he's

(25:01):
been able to do player after player after player after,
player and then you think about Kat ostromen here what
she was able to do and capturing the hearts and
minds of so many different. People and you look at
some own biles and gymnastics where people are always talking about.
Her you think About Katie sideki in. Swimming you look

(25:23):
at all The duke car, Right you think about all
the different golfers that are out there that you want
to pay attention to to see what's happening with, you
the pro wrestling that is involved in how they are
moving the, Needle and, yes it takes some. Time it's taking,

(25:43):
time and there's always going to be these.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Debates about why or how or what got us.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
Here it doesn't matter what has gotten us, here it's
the fact that we are.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
Here you made it a.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
Point it was must SEE tv to watch The Women's
College World, series whether it Was texas or. Not you
were tuned. In you know, why because it was so
much talent that was. There and oh, yeah all this
happened Without oklahoma in.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
It the the.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Ability to get seats at those, games attendance was through the.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
Roof and maybe it was because it was it was
a lone star state showdown In. Oklahoma it didn't. Matter
you got to see.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
A young lady In kennedy who was the first million
dollar nil softball. Player think about, that and she just
got a new deal and they've got more money At Texas.
Tech now that is going to create something positive in

(26:57):
the sport because now they are trying to become a softball.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
School they had never been.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
There at one point they canceled the softball.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Program, wow brought it.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Back and now they've just played in The College World
series for the first time and they had the investment
of a million dollar.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Player, well it's going to get even more than that
now that the settlement is here and all the players
are going to get paid and they're going to be
on the.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Books somebody needs to tell them about. Taxes, WELL i,
Mean i'm sure they're going to do.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
THAT i mean that that's going to be part of.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
THAT i THINK i saw.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
THAT i know that the universities are trying to go
through that Because i've talked to some people that have
dealt with, it some parents that are dealing with. It
BUT i also understand that there's programs that are out
there for every person to understand what their tax situation
is going to. Be we just talked about six hundred.
Dollars now you've got to go through the. Clearinghouse what

(28:00):
six hundred? DOLLARS i think it needs to be more than,
that because six HUNDRED i don't think they might get
that in a.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Handshake, yeah go have six of them in the.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Thing but you start to look, around and my point
being this being a girl dad is awesome, anyway your,
one it's great.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Anyway but now they have an.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
Opportunity to capitalize on the chances.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
That their brothers.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Have and now they are invited to the same party
as anybody. Else, Right and that's the thing THAT i
continue to want to push is that now you have
an app you have an opportunity to be a part of.
This and now they said that seventeen year olds in

(28:52):
the state Of texas can now get, name image and
likeness as well as high school.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Students so it's.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
We're in a whole new world of opportunity for these young,
people boys and.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
Girls to now we as parents.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
Have to be locked in on our game as well
when it comes to opportunities and what is good and
what is.

Speaker 8 (29:20):
Bad it's as if being able to market yourself with your,
name image and likeness would like make people want to watch.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
EXACTLY i want to see if the people are worth the, money,
right you. Know and there's gonna be some of that. Too.
Well you also look at it this.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Way with all of this that's going, on the social
media aspect of it all has changed. It we had
a conversation yesterday about social media and the clips and
the reels and the importance of all of that because
we are now seeing people.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Make money money for views and it's.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Not really anything worth.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
Watching we've got what are they called influencers that are
out there right now that are making so much. Money
i'm not saying.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
It i'm trying to get in there too tall to
see what we need to. Influence when we come, back
we'll continue these conversations and so much. More we'll close
out our number one The French. Open we've got some
championships that were handed, out speaking of Girl, dads Co
Coke golf and Car.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Lots they did their thing in The French.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
Wild wild is the word of the day for you
to win a pair of tickets to go See Judas
Priest october the twenty at The Germania Insurance.

Speaker 2 (32:03):

this afternoon as they break down and give you an
opportunity to win a pair of tickets to go see another.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Participant i'll let them tell you who that might.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
BE i wanted to talk a little tennis BECAUSE i
know it's shocking hardball out here talking, tennis BUT i
wanted to talk some tennis because what we witnessed this
past weekend in tennis was nothing short of. Amazing there
was a match that went on from for five hours

(32:41):
and twenty six. Minutes that's, right And carlos Out krraz
wins Over center in five sets that lasted five hours.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
In twenty six.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Minutes you talk about giving it everything that they can
possibly give, you and being able to play.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
Tennis for that long is something.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
THAT i have never ever in my life seen or
understood when you can sit back and play tennis for that. Long,
Also Coco goff was The French open. Champion as she
won her matchup and now she is A French open.
Champ they Popped they made her pop bottles on, set

(33:31):
which was kind of. Interesting she said that was the
first time that she had pop. Bottles so congratulations to
two participants in The French. Open big time champions continue
to get win that was the back to back championship
for All. Caress All, RIGHT i wanted to talk about
this real quick BECAUSE i don't think we do this.

(33:54):
Enough And i'm guilty of this because we don't talk
about men's health in being able to go get yourself.
Checked if you WATCH espn or you Watched Good Morning
america last. Week Jay, harris who has been an anchor
AT espn for a long long, time he announced the

(34:15):
other day.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
That he has prostate cancer and he is now having.
SURGERY i believe he's having surgery either today or, tomorrow
and he was going to be out for a, while
and he said that he was having conversations with his
family and his friends and tried to make everybody understand about.

(34:38):
It as a person who is a prostate cancer, SURVIVOR
i am all in favor of having men's health. Discussions
and the one thing.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
As men we do not do is talk about our
health the way that we. Should as a person who
has gone through the, CEREMONY i don't want to even
call it a. Ceremony on who's gone through the, surgery
who's followed it up with so many other treatments and
had family members go through.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
It as.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
WELL i want people to understand that if you go
see your doctor and you get ahead of, it there's
normally a good outcome that comes from.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
It but it's those that.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Want to wait around and not really do the things
that we need to do as, men let alone black.
Men And i'm not making this about, race but if
you go and look at the, numbers we As African
americans are the ones that have the higher risk of
contracting prostate capitals. Cancer so do yourself a, favor, men

(35:47):
and go to the doctor.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
REGULARLY i know it.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
SUCKS i hated it and it was a lot of uncomfortable,
conversations BUT i wanted to be here and be. Around so,
therefore you gotta start taking care of. Yourself AND i
would encourage anyone to go get. Checked you, know women
always talk about them going to go see their gynecologists

(36:13):
and how much they.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Hated same thing when you got to go see your.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
Urologists you gotta go see your primary care and sometimes
you got to go see. Specialists but the reason why
you do that is so you can stick around and
be able to have these types of. Conversations so in
honor Of Jay harris and all those that have been
affected by prostate, cancer colon, cancer any type of brass.

(36:40):
Cancer awareness we have all these different months that we
really talk about. It men's health is just as important
as everything. Else so, please please please, fellas do yourself a.
Favor go get checked by your. Doctor start setting up these.
OPPONENTS i mean these doctor or upon. Appointments excuse, me

(37:03):
because you never know what's going on with your. Body
you may SAY i just got some back hurts or
this is going.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
On, yeah those are wear and.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
Tear but you got to make sure you go get
yourself checked because it is just as important as anything
else that you are a part of in your.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
LIFE i work in. Healthcare you can see.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
It Robinson Creek Home, Health, hospice we do private, duty
we do it, all but it is just as important
to go get it checked out as anybody. Else you
go when you got a knee injury and talk ABOUT
i need to get MY acl shout out To Mia.
Scott but now there's things that are inside your. Body

(37:47):
as we get, older we definitely need to be seen
by different. Doctors don't be, afraid, fellas go get seen
and go get. Checked our number one is in the
books coming up AS i said in our number, two
we will continue these conversations about THE, NBA Nfl worlds

(38:08):
strongest take and AS i said, before we will finish
it off With texas women winning the national. Championship congratulations,
ladies AND i saw.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
That the tower was. LIT i got. It you gotta love.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
It our number one in the, Books our number two
just around the corner on.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
A Long Horns.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
Monday edition of The Morning kickoff right here on Sports
RADIO am thirteen Hundred The. Zone welcome back to our
number two of The Morning kickoff right here on Sports
RADIO am thirteen Hundred The. Zone it's a Long Horn
monday edition of The Morning. Kickoff at our number, one
we talked About texas softball lighting the tower and becoming national.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Champ we also talked about The house.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
Settlement it is finally announced and man oh, man there
was a lot of money that is being moved. Around
and of course we talked The French. OPEN i, know,
folks but it was unusual for us to Talk French,
open but we. Did but right NOW i want to Talk. Indiana, Okay, See,
mark you AND i have had this. Conversation we actually
had the conversation. Yesterday we Thought indiana was going to

(39:16):
be able to come out and play and capitalize on
what was, happening and getting that win in game number
one did not. Happen Tyrese. Halliburton, look if you're going
to be a, superstar you have to be a superstar
the entire. Time you can't play, passive literally passive instead

(39:39):
of being more. Aggressive when he's, Aggressive indiana is. Amazing
when he's, not it's a lot of work for a
lot of other. Guys but you cannot take away what
we saw From okay see last.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Night you can't take away from What okac.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Did they played defense better on, Him they forced him
to make, passes they trapped, him they denied him the.
Ball they did everything that a coach that just lost
to a guy and made him. Passive it's not like
he just, Decided, OKAY i don't want to take. Shots
they forced the ball out of his, hand and that

(40:15):
was a good coaching. Strategy that's that's the kind of
stuff that would have Allowed thibodeau to still be a
coach if he had if he had made moves like
that game to. Game and that's the thing that you
see a venturing coach, Move.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
Well you also look at what you know them as a.
Team talking About, okay see the balance that they. Had
they had what five guys that were in double digits
yesterday fifteen from Home, grim nineteen From Jalen, williams Shay
gilchris doing what he does all the, time with another

(40:52):
thirty four, Performance Aaron wiggins coming off the bench and
going five of eight from three point, land finishing with eighteen.
Points and he only played twenty one minutes and had
eighteen points in twenty one.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Minutes then you add In Alex, caruso mister, consistent mister.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
Defensive, SPECIALISTS i would dare to, say and this is
not being throwing it out there like, THIS i would
say he could possibly be in THE mvp category because
of what he's brought to this team in the way
that he plays the. Game, yes we Know Shay Gilchris
alexander is the. Point we get, That but go back

(41:35):
and look at When Alex caruso is on the court
and when he's not for this basketball.

Speaker 2 (41:41):
Team he, is as.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
You, said a defensive, specialist but he also brings energy
right he, comes and he knows his role and doesn't
try to do too. MUCH a lot of times when
players are feeling it and they're going through everything they
feel like they have to BE i want the, BALL
i want the, BALL i want the. Ball, no he
cleans up around the, Bucket he goes and guards the

(42:06):
team's best, player gets, rebounds pushes the, floor he does his,
rock get. Charges he does everything that you ask of,
him and it's pretty impressive when you sit back and
you think about his.

Speaker 2 (42:19):
Journey he's a.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
CHAMPION i think he's the only one on this team
that has finals experience and has a. RING i, think, yeah,
yeah and then you start looking at, It i'm, like,
man this dude is valuable as they come when it
comes To. Okay, see not only is he valuable, hards
he is a culture. Bringer he's a guy that reinforces

(42:41):
what the coach is saying on the.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
Floor and he's not the point. Guard he's just the.

Speaker 1 (42:46):
Guard, yeah like a combo guard that can guard all
the way up To. Jokic he can guard all the
way up to the. Center, like that's a valuable. Piece
you can go small and still don't have a guy
on the floor that's not afraid to go down there
and get the, grunt dirty work in and that's an invaluable.

Speaker 2 (43:07):
THING i think you one, Right, yeah he.

Speaker 3 (43:10):
Is he is definitely somebody that you continue to look
at and you, say, okay what is his role on this,
team and that is to help them win and by
any means.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
Necessary you're not afraid when he was on the floor.

Speaker 1 (43:23):
Either, no sometimes you get in a situation where, MAN
i don't know IF i can defend this.

Speaker 2 (43:27):
Guy if you say, help he already, There he's, Already help's.
Coming the cavalry is already in.

Speaker 3 (43:34):
Transit you, know you talked about what their team defense
and what they force you to do this pat this,
game they forced them into fifteen. Turnovers, wow fifteen, turnovers
and you look at them as a whole and you're, like,
okay the depth that they, have the ability to Bring

(43:59):
hartenstein off the bench now and him be a.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
Facilitator when he does come.

Speaker 3 (44:06):
In you've even had you Put Caseen wallace in the
starting lineup with Lou dort and. Him both of those
guys are so quick And dort is so physical that
you can't.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
Just run through. Him he's a brick. Wall you.

Speaker 1 (44:23):
Know when they go small and they Have dort And
caruso at power, forward and small. Forward it's like having
a six seven two and thirty pound gal on the.
Floor their size does not define their. Positioning so you
can have A Chad hunger and your hartenstyle at, center

(44:48):
and you can have those smaller lineup on the floor
and still do what a big, team big unit would
do and Shake Gilders. Alexander being the point and being
the as doing the bulk of the offensive work gives
you more credence to play. Defense you, know, look he's gonna,

(45:08):
shoot let's go get the. Rebound let's go play. Defense
like they just have so much, depth and you Named
casey And, wallace like the dude is the best combo
guard they have on their team other than.

Speaker 2 (45:23):
Shape.

Speaker 3 (45:24):
Yeah, Well i'll sit here And i'm thinking about this.
Game and they lost the game in the second. Quarter
the game got out of hand in the second. Quarter
that's When halliburton was on the bench for a. While
he still wasn't taking, shots And Richard jefferson on the
broadcast kept, saying if you're going to be the, star

(45:47):
be the. Star you have to be able to get
to the, rim get foul, shots and get yourself. Going
you can't settle and he does these jump. Passes there
could have been a couple of times he could have Been,
yeah they should have been. Travels but, somehow somewhere he
got it. There last, night he did not take a free.

(46:07):
Throw that's that's a. Shame your point guard cannot not
take free. Throws you have to attack the.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
Paint on the other, Hand Shae gilchris shot twelve free.
Throws you know this is not A this is no
stranger to what we've seen in the entire playoffs.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
For the first playoff series to.

Speaker 1 (46:26):
Now he takes a game. Off last, series he had
that game where he scored nine points they, played and
the series before that when they Played Yanta's Ante, takumpo
he had that twelve point. Game like he takes a
game off in the series for whatever, REASON i DON'T

(46:47):
i don't understand.

Speaker 3 (46:48):
It, well it looked like game. One he took it
off until the very, end just like he did. Yesterday
he started shooting in the fourth. Quarter by that, time
your team is already out of. It you have to
start establishing yourself in the first half or making something.

Speaker 2 (47:01):
Happen he had six assists yesterday with five. Turnovers that's
not a good. Game for.

Speaker 3 (47:05):
HIM i think his dad might have a word with.
Him i'm sure his dad. Will they kept trying to
pay into his. Dad he was just sitting at the, bleachers,
like what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (47:13):
This?

Speaker 2 (47:14):
Dude this is. Terrible CAN i go to the bench
and say? Something CAN i?

Speaker 3 (47:16):
Go but, yeah so you start to look at what
is happening with this, team and you know The, pacers
they had seven guys in double, digits but their numbers
weren't high double.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
Digits they WERE i was at the double. Digit they
had servicemen exactly.

Speaker 3 (47:35):
Exactly so as this series continues to go, on you
start to wonder can they make can they make it?
Better can they make a run and see exactly if
this is going to happen the Next.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
Definitely make a run.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Hard the whole point is home field advantage and home court.
Advantage they did, it, Okay see he did exactly what
they were supposed to do at.

Speaker 2 (47:58):
Home they were.

Speaker 3 (47:59):
Eleven point favorites last, night eleven and a half to be,
point to be, exact and This wednesday they will be
five and a half point. Favorite so they have not
been underdogs in any of these any of these matchups
as of right, Now so for, me what is the
important part of them being able to bounce back and

(48:21):
get a dub at.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
Home aggressiveness From. Halliburton one, yep and two they have
to be more definitive in who they play in the.
Post LIKE i really do think that sometimes they're gonna
have to go small and Put Pascal siakam at center
and try to run WITH okc and play that defensive

(48:44):
game that they played with the swarming guards because they
have enough depth to do. So and then when you
get to the point the where you need to bring
In Miles, Turner Miles turner And Obi topping and And,
bryant then do. It but sprinkle it up and mix it,

(49:05):
up BECAUSE i feel like that's What Oklahoma city was
able to do differently this time than they did last.

Speaker 3 (49:11):
Time, well the one thing THAT i want to continue
to try to understand is if you get into a
track meet WITH, okc you can kiss the baby because
they don't play around when it gets up and down.
There and then you look at What shade has been
able to. Do that mid range is as deadly as
it can possibly. Be, MAN i can't wait till Till.

(49:32):
Wednesday wednesday seven Thirty game three right there ON. Abc
coming up, next we're going to continue the conversation IN.
Fl THE mvp odds are out and there's some shade
that is being. Thrown we'll talk about it right here
on the morning kickoff On Sports radio and thirteen hundred The.

Speaker 1 (49:53):
Zone we are eighty two days away from The Texas
longhorns starting their, season but THE nfl is always on our.
Minds so right now we're gonna get into THE mvp.
Conversation and obviously we all know that the names that
are the names will be part of THE mvp.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
Conversation what DO i mean by?

Speaker 3 (50:16):
That Patrick, Mahomes Lamar, Jackson Joe, burrow And Josh. Allen
but there's some other names that are in the conversation
to BECOME. Mvp we know that it seems to be
that THE mvp always seems.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
To go to a.

Speaker 3 (50:31):
Quarterback the quarterback is always the one that gets all the,
glory sometimes a little bit too much as opposed to
having a run game like we saw last. Year you
saw What Saquon barkley And Derrick henry were able to.
Do neither one of them got THE, mvp which is
kind of. Crazy got offensive player of The year In,
saquon but THE mvp went To Josh, allen his first one.

(50:56):
Ever BUT i wanted to ask you this because as
you look at these, odds And i'll give you these,
odds and these are going to be from a different
website than WHAT i normally go, to BECAUSE i wanted
to see what else is out. There but you start
to look and you, Say, okay who is the TRUE.
Mvp Lamar Jackson he's the number. One he's the favorite

(51:19):
at plus four, ninety followed By Josh allen plus five,
Seventy Joe burrow plus six, Hundred Patrick mahomes plus six,
Twenty Jayden daniels plus eight, twenty And Jalen hurts is
plus eighteen.

Speaker 2 (51:37):
Fifty, well then you look. AROUND.

Speaker 3 (51:39):
Cj stroud of The Houston Texas texan excuse, me comes
in at number eight on this at plus twenty three.
Hundred you go down To Dak, prescott he is at
plus three plus thirty five. Hundred saquana is plus forty seven. Hundred.

Speaker 2 (52:00):
MURRAY i, mean the list goes on and on and.

Speaker 3 (52:02):
On but the question Even Aaron, rodgers who signed On
friday with The Pittsburgh, steelers thirteen million dollar deal with
escalators up to nineteen, million but his base salary is ten.

Speaker 2 (52:15):
MILLION i, mean he did what he said he wanted to.

Speaker 3 (52:16):
Do he's plus seven seven, hundred seven thousand and five.

Speaker 2 (52:21):
Hundred so you look across and they're still.

Speaker 1 (52:26):
Still the only running back that is in the conversation
Is Sakwan berkley B Jon robinson is plus fourteen, Thousand
Derrick henry is plus ninety five, hundred And christian McCaffrey
is also plus fourteen, Thousand Ceedee, Lamb Nico collins plus sixteen.

Speaker 2 (52:48):
Thousand so with the, injury they just gave up on christ.

Speaker 1 (52:51):
McCaffrey, WELL i mean he's not the man he once.

Speaker 2 (52:56):
Was the game has taken a battle to. Him, yeah
none of us.

Speaker 1 (53:01):
Are exactly more than anybody the last two, years they've
stacked up exactly.

Speaker 3 (53:07):
Exactly so as you look across the these, numbers Obviously
lamar is gonna be a big part of.

Speaker 2 (53:15):
That when you got that offensive line that he.

Speaker 3 (53:17):
Has hope Hopefully Mark andrews plays a better season than
what he did this past.

Speaker 2 (53:24):
Year you look at What.

Speaker 3 (53:27):
Derrick henry has been able to, do What's Rashaw bateman
they just re signed. Him you start looking at those,
guys you Think lamar is right for the Favorite Josh,
allen his numbers, undeniable what he's been able to, DO
i get, it everybody loves. Him Joe, burrow if he
can ever get his team in the, playoffs he might

(53:50):
be that guy that everybody looks at and says he's
a true m V. P jade And, DANIELS i hope it,
happens but in a kind of, WAY i hope he
is the he has the sophomore slump because he's in
our division AND i don't want to see him get
better like.

Speaker 2 (54:07):
THAT i don't want to see hims like.

Speaker 1 (54:09):
That, Well, UNFORTUNATELY i feel like that guy is going
to be better because he got a chance to get
acclimated to the speed of the game at the at
THE nfl, level and he handled it with such poise
as a.

Speaker 2 (54:24):
Rookie SO i think he's just gonna get. Better well he.

Speaker 3 (54:27):
From from all, accounts And Cliff kingsbury being his offensive,
coordinator he said that's the only reason why he took the.
Job cliff did is because he wanted to work With
jayden and he's a. Worker halic he's the one that
wants to get better every step of the. Way so
it might be it might be doomsday for us In

(54:47):
dallas with that young man continuing to Get.

Speaker 1 (54:50):
We always gonna, push were always gonna split The Washington
commanders and The. Cowboys is just sign it, up write it,
down take a, picture emailing facts at whatever he want
want to. Do we're gonna. Split we're gonna. Go it
hurts my heart when we lose to. It, oh trust,
ME i understand the.

Speaker 3 (55:09):
Feeling so out of these wild, cards take Take lamar
And josh out of. It who are you thinking if
you would have bet your heart on, tennis who would
you want to put your money.

Speaker 1 (55:22):
On IF i have to Take Josh allen and no
they out, Right that's What i'm. SAYING i have to
take the two top dogs. OUT i would not Say Joe.
BARROW i probably would Say. JAYDEN i Think jaden has
got a potential for a big breakout this, year which

(55:43):
hurts me to.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
Say and.

Speaker 1 (55:49):
If they do the right thing with Say kwan and
be completely honest about the value of a, player and
he has another eighteen hundred yards and fifteen touchdowns twenty,
touchdown you gotta get that. Guy is the accumulation of
work in two years will rival any running back that.

Speaker 2 (56:11):
We've had in.

Speaker 3 (56:11):
History, well it's interesting that you say, that because they
Got Jalen hurts at plus eighteen fifty and they have
Sa kuan at plus forty seven. Hundred Sa quon's reward
was being on The madden cover for his. Season you
are The madden, cover my. Friend there you. Go that's.
It appreciate. It that's his.

Speaker 2 (56:32):
Gift we're not gonna give you AN, Mvp, nope but
we'll give you A Mad we'll give You Offensive player
of The year because what you did was.

Speaker 3 (56:40):
Outstanding that'll be. It but you're not going to be THE, mvp.
Sir this award is like The Heisman. Trophy it's gonna
go to the quarterback in the nf OF l, Too
AND i am not betting against number fifteen In Kansas.
CITY i think his performance last year motivated. Him he

(57:02):
didn't have his best, Year, no he. Didn't that team
didn't have their best. Year, somehow some, way they made
it back to the Super bowl and they've had that
kind of. Success BUT i believe That Patrick mahomes is
still that. DUDE i believe that he is going to
come back with a. Vengeance And Travis kelsey even said,
HIMSELF i was out of. SHAPE i wasn't doing the right.

(57:25):
Things so Now i'm correcting. Myself this may be his last.
Hurrah so he's focusing on the game. Itself so mine
would be IF i had to put money on, IT
i would put money On Patrick.

Speaker 2 (57:39):
Mahomes.

Speaker 1 (57:39):
WOW i, mean so you think there's gonna be a
rebirth With kelsey as?

Speaker 2 (57:43):
Well, yep it has to. Be it has to.

Speaker 3 (57:45):
BE i, mean their roster In Kansas city is still not.
Bad they're still a solid. Roster they made some moves
to make themselves a little bit.

Speaker 2 (57:57):
Better but IF i.

Speaker 3 (57:59):
Had to pick at this particular, MOMENT i can't go
against number.

Speaker 2 (58:03):
Fifteen, Man i'm never gonna go against. Him BUT.

Speaker 1 (58:08):
I just don't see like THE mvp, race he has so.
Much their offense is so versatile that it's hard for
one person just to stack up the. Numbers and as
far as like touchdown to interception, ratio he's always gonna
be at the.

Speaker 2 (58:23):
Top he just don't throw a lot. Interceptions but.

Speaker 1 (58:28):
They run the ball so much THAT i think that
they and they spread it around so much that it's
just hard For Patrick mahomes to be in the. Envy
he may be The GAME, mvp he may be The
Super BOWL, mvp but season, wise they do too much
with other players for him to stack up the.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Numbers, well let's just put it like.

Speaker 3 (58:49):
This he's gonna Have Exavier, worthy a Healthy Hollywood, brown
And Rashi rice is coming. Back he's got the toys
to play, with and you're gonna have a more Motivated Travis.
Kelsey so, yes spreading the ball around will be, that
but the quarterback is the one that's gonna get into,

(59:10):
him and he Could they those three wide RECEIVERS i
just mentioned can take a five yarder and take it
to the.

Speaker 2 (59:17):
House so it's gonna be.

Speaker 3 (59:19):
Interesting but if i'm gonna take, Somebody i'm gonna Take.

Speaker 1 (59:22):
Patrick and you said you would Take Ja jade And.

Speaker 2 (59:27):
Daniels log it, in logged it.

Speaker 3 (59:32):
IN i logged it, in AND i made sure that
you knew who picked Who Patrick. Mahomes you heard my.
Dog i'm putting some money on. There we'll figure out
as the season gets. Closer if we wanted to take
a long shot on somebody, too maybe put a little
pizza money on a little, sign so we'll see what.

Speaker 2 (59:50):
Happened dobbin. Knows when we come, back we.

Speaker 3 (59:54):
Got the world's strongest man bringing you his world's Strongest
Tech don't go. Anywhere the Morning Kickoff Longhorn Monday edition
rolls on right here On Sports radio and thirteen hundred The.

Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
Zone you heard that beat. Dropped that means one thing
and one thing.

Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
Only W We hall Of famer and the World's Strongest,
man D Mark henrick brings you his world's strongest.

Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
Take take it, away big. Fella all, right what's you
know what it?

Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
Is it's time for the world's strongest take by the
world's strongest, Man.

Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
Marcus back then they didn't know. Me Now i'm, hot
they all on. Me, well my.

Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
Take today is gonna touch a few, people MAINLY i
Got marcus close.

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
To his heart Because i'm talking about yes That Houston
tech centers.

Speaker 1 (01:00:52):
A team that has made more moves than any other
team in the n f as hard to would say
of l. Guys yesterday it came down that The Houston
texans Signed.

Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
Nick chubb to a one year.

Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
Deal and you know it's IT'S i think That Nick
chubb is a is a great acquisition if the injuries are,
gone which you, know the reconstructed knee mcl acl, maniscous it.

Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
Really got done. Bad outside Of willis.

Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
McGahee it might have been the worst injury THAT i
saw running back. Take and he was able to pass
the physical. Yesterday there's a video of him on the.
Internet squad and six hundred. Pounds Nick chubb is a, monster,
y'all and a lot of people, say oh, man there's
a lot of teams should have signed. Him everybody was,

(01:01:58):
afraid not The texans because they have a two Time
pro bowler And Joe. Mixon they drafted a running. Back
and then you get to the fact that The texans just,
said you know, what we're not going to allow ourselves
to have the same offensive line that we had last.

(01:02:21):
Year and they traded Away tunsul and got. Picks they
traded Away Kenyan green and got. Picks they Acquired Christian
kirk from The Jacksonville, jaguars who is a guy that
could take the lid off at a high. Level and
then you get to all of the moves that they.
Made they re signed the big acquisition that they had

(01:02:45):
a couple of years, Ago Cam, robinson who is the
most valuable offensive lineman that they.

Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
Had and you wasn't gonna get rid of that.

Speaker 1 (01:02:52):
Guy you go out and get a three hundred and
sixty Pounds shelton rankings to push the interior line. Back
they that trade that they made to get rid Of Laramie.
Tumsel they acquired one of the top five cornerbacks that
also at times plays safety AND. Cj Gardner. Johnson they

(01:03:15):
also picked Up Lincoln, thompson who is a road. Greater
his whole purpose is to push people into the end.
Zone and then you pick up Also Justin, WATSON E. J,
speed who was a valuable valuable linebacker in the league last.
Year And I'm I'm i'm really looking at what they

(01:03:38):
picked up and AND i have to say that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
They are ready for that next.

Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
Step but can all of these new acquisitions jail?

Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
Together when you mix and match and you make all
of these.

Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
Things their off season is more important than everybody else,
is because they have to get everybody to melt. Together
my take is THAT i think this is the year
that The Houston texans make the deepest run because they
fixed all the, Problems they acquired everything they needed and

(01:04:14):
even more so hard they have still draft capital for next.
YEAR i think they have so many draft picks now
that they're going to have to trade some of the drafts.
Away nobody's gonna draft like, eleven, twelve thirteen. Players you
package those drafts together and you try to move.

Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
Up what say, YOU.

Speaker 3 (01:04:35):
I, MEAN i Am i'm really curious to the fact
of The Houston texans making this lead because in the initial,
situation we already thought that they were making some moves
that were quite questionable at. Times when they traded their
whole offensive, line it made me. Nervous, yeah obviously you're

(01:04:57):
gonna be able to go and get some other guys
and try to make some things, happen but you're still,
wondering is it to your point going to. Work that's
why those OTAs have been very important for a lot of.
Them but the one thing about the OTAs is they
don't HAVE. Cj stroud practicing right. Now he's dealing with

(01:05:20):
the shoulder injury or shoulder tightness or whatever whatever they
want to quote it. As and that's something that even
though the season is a little ways, away it does
make it a little bit tough when you start to
think about what's going on with. It so we'll see
how that plays. Out but the outside the draft picks the.

(01:05:41):
Capital to your, point what they've been able to do
throughout this, process it makes me question and the only
reason Why i'm questioning it is because there were so
many moves at one.

Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
Time but Obviously.

Speaker 3 (01:05:56):
Demko Remember Bobby slovak was once considered a head coach
in waiting or a head coach that was the next
guy because of his offensive.

Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
Prowess well what?

Speaker 3 (01:06:10):
Happened how did that fall off so fast to the
point that he got?

Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Fired that is the thing that kind of. Worked that
offensive line got him.

Speaker 1 (01:06:18):
FIRED i, Mean i'm telling you, hard that's about the
poorest play that we saw of any team in the
league last. Season that offensive line was as in As
dallas's defensive. Line, so, like that's a horrible thing In.
Texas you, Know texas football is based off the lines of,
scrimmage and they both were very. Poor both teams had

(01:06:42):
very poor, play and now they both. Upgraded So i'm
looking forward to seeing what both of these offensive defensive
lines do here in The Big. State that definitely is
going to be one of those things that we start
to truly try to pay attention to and try to
see because The, TEXANS i, mean we are the station

(01:07:02):
of The, texans so we will be listening and watching
a lot of These texans games BECAUSE i can't.

Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
Always watch The, Cowboys gotta support the other.

Speaker 6 (01:07:11):
Two.

Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
Yah we're gonna close out the show and send you
To Dan patrick after another great tech by the world's strongest.
Man coming up, next one last celebratory clap for The
Texas longhorn softball, team AND i will let you know
what all they have coming. Back so hey beg to

Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Tennis which is, rare but we also Recapped.

Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
Indiana in AN nfl talk with THE, mvp and my

to talk About texas. Softball, Obviously texas softball becomes the

(01:09:30):
national champion first time ever eight tries and is it
ironic that the eighth try Kat austerman's number was eight
and here we are on the eighth one winning.

Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
The College World.

Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
Series but the beautiful part about it is the recruiting
class and the players that are returning are going to
be able to Put.

Speaker 2 (01:09:51):
Texas back at the top of the.

Speaker 3 (01:09:52):
Conversation, yes everybody's doing what they can in women's, sports especially,
softball it's, basketball they continue to. Grow But texas is
gonna have the battery Of Teaking cavan And Reese. Atwood
they're gonna Have, Maloney Leanne, Good, Bennett, Henry Katie, Stewart,

(01:10:13):
Hunter Satali uh and they're returning their, shortstop their. Shortstop
they played the whole season without their starting, shortstop Vv.
Martinez she will be back next season and that will
make the infield even stronger for what they. Have but
they also have a great recruiting class as. Well but

(01:10:35):
the one thing that is going to be missed is
One Mia.

Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
Scott Mia scott played the.

Speaker 3 (01:10:44):
PLAYOFFS i don't know how far back this injury, goes
but she played the season with a torn Acl think
about that knee wrapped every day in a sport where laterally.

Speaker 2 (01:10:59):
Is the most important. Part and we.

Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
Talked about her, athleticism, yes her quick ability that says
the ball off the bat and to be able to
physically go get.

Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
There Patrick mahomes even was quoted of saying that third
basement For texas is. Cold BUT i want you to
hear from her teammates because that was her last. Game
she is done at The university Of. Texas she has
done everything for this university and, nobody nobody should ever

(01:11:33):
be able to wear the number ten ever. Again oh,
wow think about, That you're tied the number hanging in number.

Speaker 1 (01:11:41):
Tens national champions b, y come on and me And.

Speaker 3 (01:11:47):
Scott, YEAH i said it in the same breath. Again
but me And scott meant so much to this program
THAT i cannot have any other person were in her.

Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
Jersey oh my, gosh.

Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
Mask it is a different for you to describe, her
but she's honestly.

Speaker 1 (01:12:06):
Unreal oh my, Gosh i'm gonna be like.

Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
You it's gotten more than.

Speaker 5 (01:12:10):
Anything she's, Incredible she's a lot of her.

Speaker 2 (01:12:12):
Legend she'll go down.

Speaker 6 (01:12:14):
There car she's incredible and she's to gry of herself.

Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
And feel she's the.

Speaker 6 (01:12:17):
BEST i love him as.

Speaker 4 (01:12:19):
She's a competitor, music a lead of her, own and
so to see what she's able to.

Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
Do like really like her welcome, says with no, effort
and she's so crazy to be able to play with.

Speaker 6 (01:12:27):
Him we have such a bid and she's so. INCREDIBLE i,
mean she's unknown from the cololun that she's one of
the best off up players in the country and to
ever come across The texas.

Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
Campus so it's sounds cool.

Speaker 6 (01:12:36):
To be able to come out here and see her
before who, way she DIDN'T.

Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
I don't even know how to call.

Speaker 5 (01:12:41):
IT i, mean she just goes down there and does her.

Speaker 6 (01:12:42):
Thing she doesn't eat anybody to hype her, up and
she just had that inner, confidence had done that need.

Speaker 4 (01:12:47):
To be pressed by anybody.

Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
Else like, look it's.

Speaker 7 (01:12:49):
HUGE i mean we as a, competitor she's just a
little bit of a silent.

Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Competitor so you, know it's awesome to see her finished
with career like, that And i'm really happy for me
up unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
Unbelievable what me means to this, program what she was
able to, achieve how she did, it it's just so.
Amazing and as far as being as smooth as she
was over at third, base it's something that as somebody
who's played the, POSITION i get.

Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
It you gotta be, quick you gotta be, reactive and
she made it look so. Effortless though it's almost unfair
that on both sides of the plate she is that.
Dominant you knew when she came up that she was
going to hit a home, Run oh for. Sure the
look on her face was, Like i'm finna change, this

(01:13:41):
And i'm as a.

Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
Picture what do you do when you you just.

Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Try to either walk them or you, know maybe throw
the ball real close to, him kind of scare him
a little, bit make them back.

Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
Off but none of that.

Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
Work everything we saw them, trying but just they everybody
failed the entire. Season, OKLAHOMA i don't know If I'VE
i don't know If i've seen in a while Where
oklahoma has been so dominant in women's. Softball, absolutely and

(01:14:17):
Whenever mia came to the, plate you.

Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Just knew that she was gonna change. That.

Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
Narrator, Yeah, well the one thing too THAT i was
appreciative of what you said was the fact THAT i
WANT i want to beat.

Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
THEM i want to Beat, oklahoma right.

Speaker 3 (01:14:33):
And you, know you look at What Texas tech was
able to do and what they're continuing to. Do they're
making some some really big time moves right now At Texas.
Tech because we talked about the financial windfall of What
Texas tech has been able to get from their collective
so to, speak they're.

Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
Amazing, yeah they're gonna go ahead and get ANOTHER A theyna.

Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
Get they're gonna get more than AN. Age they're gonna
get more. Production they've already made the moves in the Portal.
TEXAS i just told you about what they have coming.
Back their recruiting class is one of the top in the,
country and now they're getting that opportunity to be even.
Better so to, me every TIME i look at it
AND i try to understand what we're, seeing we're seeing

(01:15:19):
something that is short nothing short of amazing for women's
sports at this university and what they've been able to.
Achieve we talked About Vick schaeffer and what he's been
able to build with his women's basketball. Team you can
look at track and. Field you can look at, golf
you can look at. Rowing they have found a way
to get it. Done and What Mike white has done

(01:15:42):
in his, career and we talked about it in the first,
hour is it's amazing for what he's done for that Short.

Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
Yeah, yeah you get, there.

Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
Get, there get, there and then not get it, done
and you finally get it. Done And Mike white is
well deserved of his national. Championship i'm so happy for.
Them i'm glad that they lit the, tower AND i
appreciate what we've seen so.

Speaker 2 (01:16:08):
Far BUT i can't wait for next year in all
the sports, again, man let's started.

Speaker 4 (01:16:12):
Up.

Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
MAN i enjoyed calling it with you this. Year it's
been a great year for.

Speaker 1 (01:16:17):
Softball and you, know lighting that tower is the culmination is.

Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
Awesome and the tower was, lit and so are we,
OUR i mean, our the show must go. On we
are sending you To Dan. Patrick make sure you tune in.
Tomorrow did you know that The gamblers have An American
idol type of, tryout The Austin.

Speaker 2 (01:16:37):

Speaker 3 (01:16:39):
It we'll have one of the participants on the show.
Tomorrow we will be talking about that and so much
more For Mark, henry For, Marcus i'm harball hard and
