Speaker 1 (00:00):
But right now is the perfect time to talk about
a three to nothing Texas victory, and what better way
to break it all down than talking to their head coach. Up,
Texas Softball coach Mike White, coach, congratulations on the victory,
moving into the second round and you get to face

(00:20):
a nemesis in Oklahoma. But let's talk about what you
saw yesterday from your Texas softball team.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah, it was an exciting day obviously, you know, being
the first game of the day. I think it was
a good good for us to get out there and
get going. You know, obviously a lot of that team
and being back sixteen of the twenty plas, being back
the Cult World Series, we felt really comfortable in that environment.
And you know, playing against Gains Florida, you know we're
their number one pitcher.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Back Kegan ross Rock was going to be a tough
match up.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
But Jolie Mitchell came through for us hit a couple
of home runs, and then followed by Katie Stewart, and
then there's some really great pitching boy Teak Colan.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah, we'll get into tigging in just a minute, but
let's talk about Joe Mitchell and the fact of the
power display. In her postgame she said, I didn't hit
a home run last year, so I had a personal
goal of.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Hitting a home run.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
So she didn't only hit one, she hit a second one,
and her power is undeniable. Not only did she hit
one the left field, she hit one the right field
and just displayed a great approach in that at bat
and those that bat excuse me.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, no, for sure, I mean, and the wind was
blowing in too, But the first one was a no
doubt for sure, and the second one, the cinfielder made
a pretty good ap at it, but it came just
up her glove that I mean, to hit it into
the wind like she did Church Path for sure, without
a doubt.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Yeah, And I just love the fact that you had
mentioned it on our interview just the other day. You
talked about Florida coming back with Keegan Rothwright and being
their star and you didn't get a chance to face
her the first time. What did you guys notice about
her on the mound that they were able to take
that approach.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah, she threw a few more changeups she was going to,
but you know, she was throwing the low seventies, which
is pretty good velocity.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
For sure.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
But you know, we noticed she had gone away from
her rise ball a little bit more and starting a
little more of a curve drop, and so that was
the pitch we were looking for to attack.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
I love the fact of the way that you guys
went out there and handled your business. We talked about
Teagan a little bit, because Teagan is somebody. She didn't
have a bunch of strikeouts yesterday, but she was effective
enough to let her defense take care of the plays
when they needed to talk about her approach yesterday and
only giving up two hits.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah, I thought, you know, she hit some pretty high
pitch count the first couple of innings, but then was
able to settle in and actually had one inning where
she had only had five pitches and was using her defense.
And that was something we told her about, was like,
try to few throw her less pitches and really use
her defense. And so I think for the risk of
the game, from the third andy on, she was able
to do.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
That and really get some some good outs.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
And of course Mia Scott played an excellence a base
for US again.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Coach Coach harj and I had a big disagreement before
you came on, and that disagreement was the fact that.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
I hate to say this to you.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
I actually I actually was hoping Oklahoma will win because
I wanted revenge.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
I'm coaching. It's something about me.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
I don't like to lose, and when I lose to somebody,
I want revenge.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
And Harts was like, nah, man, I think we I
want Oklahoma.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
To go through the loser's bracket, is what I said.
I thought that they were They always find a way, coach,
and you know this better than anybody. If you let
them hang around, they find a way to get back
into the ball game. And being in Oklahoma, crowd, noise,
everything that goes into it, they find a way.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
So that was our disagreement. That was the disagreement. But
I wanted to know from you. Do you feel the
same way that I do.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Well, it's going to have to feel that.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
It is what it is. You know, they do find
a way. They're tough.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I mean when the chips are down, they faught away.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
But you know, so we so you know we need
to get out there and bring it to them. And
you're in their environment. We know that nothing we can
do about it.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Sit go out there and play some really tough softble
and hopefully kick their butt.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
We're talking to Mike White, Texas softball coach as they
get ready after the victory against Florida three to nothing.
Now they go and face a nemesis that they play
every single year, multiple times in the Oklahoma Sooners and
coach obviously Teagan did a great job. Are you set
in your rotation you feel comfortable about that? Or are

(04:45):
you just gonna wait and see how everybody feels on
Saturday before you decide which direction you're going to go.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Yeah, I'm looking to my haf on that one just
right now. Definitely get to play off. So I don't know.
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Menhrt is gonna have to have a conversation because he
keeps he keeps trying to get you. You're coach Losnegga
to tell him who's you gonna start?

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Stop? Stop the coach.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
I've been around this game a very, very long time.
I know exactly how this all works. I know you're
not gonna say anything, but I wouldn't be doing my
job if I didn't ask you on the starting pitcher
because that is what everybody talks about. You and I
even had this conversation ourselves, Coach, we talked about the

(05:33):
fact of when you have good pitching, it gives you
an opportunity every single week.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
No, without a doubt. I mean, you've got to get
that good start.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
And I think we're going to be home team on Saturday,
So what have the oportunity to give out there in defense?
On defense first, and we need that good start to
sit at the turn for the game.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
No doubt about it, Coach. I also wanted to bring
up me A Scott. You mentioned her a little while ago,
and you and I talked about this the other day
about her calm, cool, collected demeanor. You don't know if
she's o for four or have had four errors in
the field, or made four hits and had great plays defensively,
talk about the calming factor that she brings to this team.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Oh yeah, we want the ball hit to Mia.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
You know, it's like, hey, hit this one to me
and get a double play or something, you know. So, yeah,
she's steady as a rock out there and continues to
make great plays for us. And you know, I, like
you said, the emotions. She doesn't get high, too high
or too low. She's pretty calm, and I think that
that helps calm down with the newbies are the ones
that are like maybe feeling a little bit anxious at times.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
So let me ask you this. Now you get the
day off.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
I know practice is involved, but what does the Texas
Longhorns have on the agenda today to kind of relax
a little bit?

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Well, you're right about practice.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
We're going to go go and hit at Alklahoma City
Christian So we're going to hit the air for the morning,
and then they're going to go shop.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
There's like a tent setup for like, you know, the
girls in their shopping.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
You got to I understand, I got a dollar. She's
been trying to get stuff all the time.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
So they're gonna do that, and then we're gonna have
dinner about seven o'clock and you know, pretty much chilled
and get ready for tomorrow's game.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
All right, So the game will be at two o'clock.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
You can watch it on ABC nationally televised game. And
I guess since we talked about it bringing up the
Oklahoma Sooners and what you've seen from them over not
only just this year, but over the years.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Yeah, I mean, obviously they're they're leaning a lot on
Sam Landry the picture the transfer from Louisiana, and you know,
Coach Roacher is really good with developing pictures and she's
done a great job with her and she's and they
lean on here. So the secret crisis to get to
her and try to knock her out of the game.
But having said that, through lifty against this last year,
that this year that shut us out. So they're not

(07:55):
just a one person stop at all. But you know,
their defense, they played great defense. They're they're timely hitting.
But you know, every every player, every nobody bets a thousands. Sorry,
we've got just go detective weaknesses and uh, you know
in school runs, we're gonna have the school runs without doubt.
We need to score at least five runs with there
that's in front of us, you know, because they're they're
just a formidable team.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Yeah, they always seem to find a way to bring
out some of those young players kind of like yourself.
You have a bunch of young players that always seen
the show up. They've grown up in this organization and
have gotten better and better. And Kate and Henry and
center field, she is amazing. I realized she was quick,

(08:36):
but I didn't realize she was that quick.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Yeah, because I spend in her high school, you knowing
a lot.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Of track and so if.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
She's pretty quick, so I'm a lot to get her on.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
I had some options. So it's fun to watch you
run the basis and MEA used to be that way too.
She slowed down a little bit, you know, with her
with a knee injury that she's been kind of like
going through with their career.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
But you know it's fine. I just I love the
running game now and a sport.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Yeah, that's one of my favorite parts. I've always talked about.
That's one thing that's missing in the major league game,
the college game, and of.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Course the softball game.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
You got to be able to run to put pressure
on defenses because what people don't understand, you got to
catch it, you got to throw it, and you got
to catch it again. And now all those processes are
a little bit tougher as you go along. As always, coach,
we want to thank you for taking the time. Wish
you the best of luck as you take on Oklahoma
this Saturday, two pm.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
And you can watch the game on.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
ABC and you can hear it on I think we're
going to play it on AM thirteen hundred to zone,
but we'll keep you posted on that.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Thanks coach, I.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Really appreciate the opportunity to talk to that fans and
hook them there.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
It is good luck coach. Coach Mike White, Texas softball
coach handling their business, winning the game three to nothing
against Florida and now they take on the Oklahoma Sooners.
