Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, Killy Nash, Good morning. Tomorrow is Thursday, and it's
another day of winning. Yeah it is. I just want
to celebrate another day of winning. We're going to the
Dagon Rodeos what they call it, because that's what it is.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Then you better know what the word appetency means. Appetency,
that's what we're talking about. For what you're talking about, appetency.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Appetency is it's primarily used in real estate negotiations as
an essence of time, primarily essence of time applicacy. I
like it.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
It's wrong, but I like it. It's a fixed and
strong desire, so that desire is not going to go away,
and it's very strong. Whatever it is, you have an appetency,
almost like an appetite.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Oh gotcha like it? Appetency. I bet that's a fun
derivative to search out.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, appetency the definition on the Morning Rest blog along
with your chances to not only when you can buy
tickets if you'd like to go to the Colonial Life
Arena to see the world's toughest rodeo March twenty seventh
and March twenty eight that's a Friday and Saturday night
next year and again that's at ninety seven five to
WCS dot com on the Morning Rush blog. And while

(01:14):
you're there, you can peruse some of the other things
that we have up there. Like we were talking, well,
first off, let me bring this one up to you.
This is a big ask. I read this story in
USA today and I said, wait a minute, what are
you asking me to do?

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Again?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
They're asking Americans some people a group, not just one group,
multiple groups have got together and have asked Americans to
skip Black Friday, do not shop online or in the store.
And I thought, perhaps this is one of the because
we've heard in the past people like what about the

(01:50):
workers they got to spend time with the family on
the holidays, And it has nothing to do with that.
So the groups involved include the Money Out of pop
Tics Movement, Black Out the System, the People's Sick Day,
American Opposition, and the Progressive Network. They've all combined and

(02:13):
they've put out flyers and they're doing an online thing.
They don't want you to shop or work between November
twenty fifth and December two. They also don't want you
to eat out, they don't want you to travel. They
basically are asking you to sit in your house and
do nothing for a week.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
It's the COVID weekend remembrance.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Well, at least on COVID. I could get a pay
per view. They don't want you to doing that either.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
You could shop.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
They do not want you using credit cards. Now they
say that they're making an exemption for small business Saturday.
So that is what November twenty six, I.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Guess shop on Friday, Wait and do small business Saturday.
Could shop? It only for small businesses and.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
You must pay cash, And they say that, and I'm
trying to figure out how they're They also want you
to cancel all digital subscriptions during the boycott. So get
rid of your no Netflix, get rid of Netflix, get
rid of HBO, get rid of Hulu, get rid of
YouTube TV, get rid of you know, Amazon Prime, get

(03:21):
rid of all of them. Cancel it during that week
because they're trying to send a message. And I'm trying
to figure out this is the message that one of
them says, Congress serves donors, not the American people, and
democratic norms are being dismantled in front of our eyes
with corporate backing. This campaign is about showing them where
the power truly.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Lies with the oppose America Group and the Progressive Network.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
And the People's Sick Day and the Blackout the System
and the Money Out of Politics movement, all of those
groups together was that like six of them.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
I will give them this. They are dedicated, and they
are focused, and they are committed because they have no
idea how flat this is going to fall. Because Americas
are not this committed and they're not this focused, and
they're certainly not going to go along with this program
because it doesn't fit their lifestyle.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
I don't even understand how it's supposed to work. So
you're telling me that if I cancel all my subscriptions
and I don't go shopping, and I don't go to
restaurants and I don't order food, or I don't do anything.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
We're going to bring the economy to a halt on
one Black Friday.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
But that somehow that changes Congress. I don't even understand,
and what is Congress is going to do about it.
I'm confused by the whole messaging. But to a bigger
point outside of COVID, have you ever gone a week
without buying something? I was thinking about that the other day.
Like every day, sometimes I try to say, can I

(04:50):
make it. I haven't done this lately, but can I
make it through a day? Is it possible for me
to be alive and not spend a nickel? Could I
wake up up and not spend any money the whole day?

Speaker 1 (05:03):
And I'll give them just eating stuff out of the
refrigerator or stuff you've already purchased.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah, and I was gonna say that's I guess I
would allow myself the stuff I've pre purchased.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
I don't have to go hunting, but you're not going
to spend any new money.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yeah, I could drive if my car has gas or
if it's charged. If you're an evy type of person,
But have you ever gone, like, could you go like
a whole weekend without buying anything?

Speaker 1 (05:29):
I don't know that I've ever done it. I don't
know that i've ever I'm not saying I couldn't. I'm
just because we all have too much food already stored
in our house. I'm not saying I couldn't. But I
know that I've never actually thought about that, So I
know that I've never conceived of doing it or congratulated
myself on doing it.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
It seems like whenever I try it, Angela will say
something like, oh crap, where we need toilet paper or
whatever it is. Something will pop up and it's like, well,
we need can you order that now?

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:58):
And what if I was to say, I got to
wait a week to order it because I'm trying to
help the People's movement or the people's sick day or whatever. Kelly,
We're not waiting a week for I.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Got a bowel movement over here. I don't need the
people's movement, but it is.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
And I By the way, I was talking to somebody
in Florida.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
The other day.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
I had never considered this. I have heard people complain
about it, that you never actually own your home because
you always are going to have property taxes. And so
they were talking about how in Florida the property taxes
are a lot more than they are here, but they
also don't have income tax and that's how they kind

(06:39):
of make it up. But apparently Ron DeSantis is talking
about we're going to get rid of property taxes as well.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
And running the all off of sales tax.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I don't know that's it, he said. They're trying to
crunch the numbers right now. So you have no income
tax and no property tax, so you could own your home,
so that if you paid, you paid cash straight cash
home for your house one hundred and fifty thousand, five
hundred thousand, whatever it is. You just bought it. You
don't owe anything else on top of that annually or

(07:09):
they can come and take you know.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
The car taxes. Property taxes are huge too. But isn't
that crazy. That's why people drive around with their South
Carolina tags No no, no, no Florida tex So you're right,
it's less. Yeah, that was.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
We had a coworker who lived here for gosh, I
think at that point it was like twelve years and
he still had.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
The Florida tags. He had his mama buy him. Okay. Interesting.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah, And if you are thinking about buying a home,
we've now put it up on the Morning Rush blog
the hot These are the ten fastest growing trends and
home features according to realtor dot Oh.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
I love this list. Do you every year? I love
this list. I see something on there. I didn't even
know it was on the market.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
So number one is the home would come with water
Sense fixtures, which is kind of like that app that
I don't know if you're the one who told me
to download it, or whatever that would detect a leak.
So I have the app, but this would actually I
guess if you have like a running toilet, it would
alert you which toilet is running or the sink has

(08:13):
a leak, something like that. So that's the number one trend,
and it says that people are Americans are shifting. For years,
we have been moving towards more and more opulent home features.
We're getting away from that now, so that's less appealing

(08:34):
to Americans. It's more about I guess, practicality and those
types of things. And that's why I guess the water
Sense feature. And not only will it alert you all
that stuff, it says it can actually reduce your water
use by twenty percent, so you'll save money in the
long run if you have this installed. Yeah, what else

(08:56):
do we got for the top five fastest rising? Features
are related to efficiency and eco friendly living. People also
want built in coffee systems and smart lighting. I don't
know exactly what smart lighting does, but I know I
understand what the other stuff does. And they also want

(09:16):
in the garage. They want EV chargers. That's fast, that's
and I guess if you get an EV charger, that's
going to be a lot more powerful than if you
just plug it up.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Yeah, they run the two twenty to your garage and
that'll put it on a level three.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
And if you're just looking for accents, it says right now,
aged metal accents is the hottest feature right now. Number
one thing to have in your home that you might
not currently have would be a home gym. So I
guess when you sell it, you leave all the equipment there.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
You're sure, and.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
It's I'm sure that when you say home gym, you
don't mean a couple of dumbbells.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
No, No, they talk about stuff that was Yeah, you
be a pain of the button to move.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Yeah, they want the riot with the bicycle one that
we saw hat a couple of years ago.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Peloton.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
They want the Peloton, they want all that stuff, rowing machines,
all of it. I want to I would like a
home gym. And what I would really like it doesn't
have it on this list, but I would like maybe
it comes under the home gym category. I would really
like an infrared sauna. Now let's go for like somewhere

(10:25):
around five thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
But they look and an extra benefits to the infrared. Yes,
what is that.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
So in order to achieve the health benefits that a
traditional sauna has. So when you hear about saunas deepening
your sleep, lessening, you're slowing the aging process, all those
types of things. There's so many benefits that come with
people who do sauna's minimum of four times a week.
That only seems to work at one hundred and seventy

(10:55):
degrees or higher. The infrared saunas do it at one
hundred thirty. You get your forty degrees coolture, so it's
not as taxing as your body to sit. And you
got to spend at least twenty minutes in the sauna
to get the benefits. So twenty minutes at one thirty
is opposed to twenty minutes he won seventy. So you

(11:17):
come out, you're still sweating, obviously totally, you're still hot,
but they say that you get the same benefits. So
and it looks a lot cooler, Oh totally, yeah, and
you don't have that godget sound going all the.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Time, the damn gas log.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yes, yes, I went to the first infrared son I
went to was at a beautiful hotel that's up just
outside of Greenville, and travelers rest and it's called Domestique
is the name of the hotel, and that is a
fantastic place if you want to check it out. It's
really it was designed by the guy who was I

(11:53):
didn't heard the term domestique for Lance Armstrong, which is
apparently the guy who his job was too out the path.
I guess for Lance Armstrong run other riders off the road.
It's a team sport, and so that Lance can I guess.
He rides right behind you, so you break all the wind,
you do all the heavy stuff. He's he's coasting behind

(12:15):
you for mile he's in your draft. And then when
it gets the last two or three miles, Lance as
fresh as a daisy, sure, and he can just boom
and he's already faster than you anyway, but he's been coasting,
so now he's really going to pour it on the
last couple of miles and win the race. And so
he was Apparently he raced in thirteen Tour de France's

(12:35):
as Lance and that was his assigned position. You're the domestique,
you clear the path for Lance. Lance wins, you get
a crapload of money and cool job descriptions. Yeah, and
I don't know how much money the guy made. But
I did look him up after we stated his hotel
because I'm like, this is an amazing hotel, and he said.

(12:56):
I didn't meet him, but the people said that he
bought the property because it reminded him of parts of
the Tour de France, and so he wanted a place
for cyclist enthusiasts who weren't going to make it to
France to have something similar. So he's built the property
to look like the countryside in France, and the roads
are paved in a way that are perfect for bicycling,

(13:18):
and he's worked with the town and stuff I guess
out there. So he put like eighty million dollars into
his hotel or something. It's crazy the amount of money
in it. But they were you look him up, and
there was some scandals, and one of the scandals was
and again, cycling is a lot bigger in Europe than
it is here, So I don't follow these things. But
one of the competitors said it on a radio interview

(13:41):
like ten years after the fact, So back in like
two thousand and three or something, it happened. And then
in twenty thirteen or so, this guy set it on
the radio in a European radio interview, like on the
BBC or something, that this guy whose name I cannot remember,
wanted to win what they call I think it's called
a trial. And so those are shorter races that they

(14:05):
have inside the Tour de France. So like usually when
we watch, we watch, like in America, you'll see like
on the fourth of July they'll be and they'll be
starting the mountain stage of the Tour de France because
it's like a ten day race. But before that they
have these like trial races which only lasts like an hour,

(14:26):
and so it's like on the Tuesday or whatever, it's
trial day, and so you're only going to race twelve
miles today. The next day you're going to race one
hundred and thirty, but today you're only racing twelve. Well,
he could win those types of races. He couldn't win
one hundred and twenty mile day race, and he certainly
couldn't win the eight thousand miles or whatever it is
they ride over ten days, but he could win those.

(14:47):
He was very competitive in those. He allegedly paid a
guy to let him win. He knew that that guy
was a threat and they and they said, how much
did he offer you? And he said a half million dollars?

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (15:04):
And they said, so what happened? He said, check the books.
He won. Yeah, they said, so you took it. He goes,
if you want to check my bank account, you see
I got a half million in it.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
I'm like, wow, that dude wrote a check for five
hundred thousand dollars so he could win one race that
he wasn't sure he was going to win. He thought
he could win it, but he wasn't sure. Godly, that's
a lot how much money was in racing.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
He was making a lot of money with Lance apparently. So.
But it's a beautiful hotel.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
But they have an infrared sauna and I got to
experience it there and I was like, this changed my
life that with the music is in there sure and
it's just so relaxing. I came out feeling like a
younger person after one time in it.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
You would have all these things like music that you
would like because the infrared wouldn't be as hot. You're right,
it's beautiful.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Yeah, So that that would be my number one thing.
And finally, Jonathan, as we try to help more and
more Morning Russia wrakulers. They need your help. They're looking
for your guidance. We have a morning Russian regular who's
been asked out on a date. That's a great thing. Congratulations,
you've got some fellow's interest and he wants to take
you on a date. She is concerned, though, because what

(16:15):
he has proposed for the first date is that she
come to his house and he'll make her dinner. She's
a bit nervous.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
On a first date. Yeah, you're not going to meet
her in a public place. You're going to have her
come to your house.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
That's the concern. Good idea, bad idea? What are you talking?
I mean, it's great that he wants to make dinner, right,
I guess he's trying to show off he's got that
skill set. A lot of people don't have that skill set.
I can't show it to you if you don't come
to my house.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Though, brother, I don't know what the heck he's thinking.
So you're saying, red flag, oh, huge, red flag. She
puts the She puts the motion back in the basket.
You want to find yourself under beneath that house in
the middle of the silence of the lambs all over again.
She puts the low shit in the basket. What the
hell are you thinking? You can think this girl's gonna

(17:08):
come over there? You gotta build some trust.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
So I'm reading her email. He says he makes the
best rigatoni in the world. I am curious about that.
Is it really the best rigatoni in the world?

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Come on, dude.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
He drives by with the the van that says, freek candy,
just hopping the van.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
I'm trying to come up with a reason that this
would be justified in his own mind. But he's not
very smart or he doesn't understand women.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Well, we're talking to her, I know, but she wants
to know. She wants to know do you go on
the date? If you're gonna go, you got to walk
in the front door. While you're walking, like ring the doorbell,
he's opening the door and you're like, all right, Marie.
So I've arrived at Robert's house again. It's at sixty

(18:00):
eight fifteen East Main Street, and I should be out
of here by what time you think we'll be done, Robert?
About nine nine thirty. I'll give you a call it
nine nine thirty.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Is that enough protection?

Speaker 2 (18:11):
I mean, unless he's completely crazy?

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Uh, this is good. Okay, you give us some guidance
on that. Maybe we're just heaping all kind of I
would just say all kind of aspersions on this dude.
He's an upright fine citizen, just looking to spend some
quality times to cook you a meal.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Takes a couple of dates before we're at that level.
That's what I would say. You've got to actually invest
money and go out to a nicer restaurant. Not the nicest,
but something nicer. I don't know what level that is,
depending on your income level.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
I know. Women it won't even let the guy drive
him on the first date. We're going to meet it
in the public place. It's like a rule.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Well she'll be driving to his house.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Oh, I gotcha.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Then he says, mark the pack. Why don't you play
your car into my garage?

Speaker 1 (18:59):
What's going on your neighborhood we should be talking about,
you know, reach out to us on social media. You
could also email us. I'm Rush at ninety seven to
five wc US dot com.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Nash at ninety seven five WUS dot com.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
Tomorrow, let's going to be s ht T so happy.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
