Time for your Black history facts. Yes, today we are
celebrating Quinter Brunson born in Philly and she's a graduate
of Temple University. Quina Brunson is the creator, executive producer,
co writer, and star of ABC's hit comedy series Avid Elementary.
Her mother was a public school educator in the inspiration

behind the character Barbara Howard played by Sheryl Lee Rolfe.
She says her love of watching comedy as a child
with her family is why she created the show as
a way to bring families of all generations back together.
She is the first black woman to be nominated three
times in the comedy category, winning an Emmy for Outstanding

years to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
She has been named one of Time's one hundred Most
Influential People and joined a plethora of artists who wrote
