Light the bloody beam, Biggest Puma and the Crew return with a high-octane episode of The Sports Cave, broadcasting live from the north side of San Antonio. With just 42 days until the Emirates NBA Cup Final, Sam dives into the countdown with his signature blend of sarcasm, sports insight, and chaotic charm.

This episode is packed with everything from fantasy football heartbreaks to World Series heroics, with a mix of Spurs and Cow Notes along the way. Sam and the guys break down Yamamoto’s legendary performance, Will Smith’s uncanny streak of World Series wins, and the Dodgers’ unsung heroes who stole the spotlight.

In true Cave fashion, the show veers into hilarious territory—like the mystery of the cornucopia, the curse of banana Laffy Taffy, and a concert so good Sam didn’t check his phone once.

Sam dives into the latest on the San Antonio Spurs, noting their first loss of the season. He discusses injury updates and new concerns affecting the roster, hinting at how these could shape the team’s trajectory.

Monday Night Football was ugly, which means the Cowboys get roasted during Cow Notes. While the segment is brief by its normal standards, it’s packed with sarcasm and disappointment, reflecting the team’s recent struggles and the emotional rollercoaster of being a Cowboys fan (highlighted by the two trades Jerry Jones pulled off today).

Lie Be Lie bean Line, bean Line.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Light the Bloody Beam. We are back for another week
of the Sports Cave with Biggest Puma. I am your host,
Sam Freeze, also known as Biggest Puma, broadcasting live here
on the North side of San Antonio, where we find
ourselves forty two days away from the prestigious emeritis As.

(00:36):
So you've got to stop saying that, because now I'm
saying it out of habit, and I keep saying Emerits
as a joke and everyone thinks I'm a god damned idiot,
some inbred hillbilly Amerite.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
It's not in North Texas. We got good public schools
down there.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
It's start Ameritition. NB ain't cut final coming down forty
two days from now. Actually like that, You got dang right.
It is also day number five of no ESPN or
Disney channels on YouTube. That might become the new countdown

(01:16):
of just counting up the amount of days government shut down.
I could care less you take away my ESPN and ABC.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Like I couldn't even watch Monday night football. I was
forced to go to the bar.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Oh yes, I'm sure your arm was twisted. The arm
that you're hearing metaphorically being twisted is of course the
arm of Cap himself in the room with me, as
well as the glorious, perfectly time drops of Producer Extraordinaire
and third leg of this program, LG LG Oh do

(01:52):
we have?

Speaker 3 (01:52):
LG.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
I always like to leave it up for I always
like to leave it up for hesitation, because at this point,
now that I'm doing in the show with Andy Tuesday
and Thursdays, I come in here with very less anxiety,
Like I've already been doing three hours of right now.
We're just having fun. Yeah, and I think it's going
to actually help the content in the long run, because,

(02:13):
like I was telling you the other week, self diagnosed,
but now starting to realize it more and more. Bit
of a control freak when it comes. Yeah, no way, right, way, right.
I mean, look, look at all these notes that we've
got to get to your job. I've gotta shoehorn them, men,
no matter what. Speaking of the notebook, you can see
right here if you're watching the stream, this is the

(02:36):
night that was the first night of notes. A lot
of notes.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
First night I read that one you did.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah, this was the only one I think you read
because you looked at all this You're like, yeah, I
ain't reading this. I ain't reading this. Every show that
was March thirty first, the first night we did Sports
Cave Live with and even then LG was getting billing
before you on.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
The sheet, I will say the Captain creams.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
You were creaming nothing last week, although I got my
ass cream, so to speak. This week in fantasy you'll
have the Fantasy Football League Update of course and Lightning Round. Uh.
Since we only did one show last week, we've got
a lot to recap, a lot to get to. Oh,
we're still rolling with the bloody subscribe as halloweena's past.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
I will say, name, Where's where's the where's the what
do they call it's the shoehorn?

Speaker 3 (03:37):
What's that? Damn?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Oh? The the corncopia?

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Is that what it's called? Eh?

Speaker 2 (03:45):
I think?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Like from the the thing that they say got removed
from the Fruit of the Loom logo. Yeah, isn't that
what it's called. We'll get our research.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Team, a research team, get on that.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
He roommate, sir, what's a cornicopia?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Hi, Hi hill see and now I'm doing it opposite.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
No, we got a lot to get to. We are
I should say, we are back in the room Tuesday
and Thursday this week, so we won't have to shoehorn
any picks or any Thursday business into the program tonight.
We can just focus on, uh, what we have going on.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
What we have is we got five dollars from ZEB
calling you out on how much of a control freak
you are when parking the McCarthy concert. What parking your Zeb?

Speaker 2 (04:34):
But Zeb, if you sent me oh man, now I
feel I feel like a giant d first in the league. Well,
time out. That's an ownership accomplishment, that's correct. I hired
the personnel that have guided my team slash, our team.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
CD lamb be came like I was like telling my
cowboy friends. I was like, Dak needs a chance in
inner Flacco and just throw to CD LAMB twenty times
a game.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah, or even CD twelve pickings eight.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
I mean, there's no we're CD twenty times for your
damn fantasy.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Okay, I see, maybe.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
There's thirty more passes, but we need twenty for LAMB.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
I see the angle you're going with now, Zeb, my apologies.
If you did reach out to park for the Paul
McCartney concert, did not, I feel like I have let
you down because I honestly did not see it. I
will stand by that. But no, we've got a lot
to get to. Thank you Zeb for the super chat.
Of course, we do super chats before the lightning round,
before we close out each episode. We've got weekend recap

(05:43):
to get to. Obviously, the shirt here the California Raisins
jamming on a saxophone will play into the weekend recap.
We've got Spurs notes. Spurs dropped their first game of
the year. We'll talk that, talk injuries, updates, new injuries,
as well as col notes. Then main SAGGI of course
an NFL Week nine recap. But before we go too

(06:05):
much further, I saw the subscription pop up there, but
I didn't see a third face join the join the
program having bad hair d LG. We need, we need
the glorious pipes of LG to tell the good people
how they can help support the program. Well, sure you can.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
You can support the program by jumping in and throwing
us a tip in the super chat. And when you do,
there we have a beer mug there on the screen
where the beer mug will fill up with your your tips.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Beer was sitting there. We got a little taste. We
got some backwashing there.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
I love it. Now.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
That's some coins fell in there when zeb hook. Yeah,
they dropped in there. If you didn't notice the animation
that flew across the screen, this is.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
The production value you will see. You continue to increase
as we get more super chats. And I will say
LG promoting the Superchats. I think the three of us
came to a consensus before the program tonight. We it
sounds like we have found our first purchase with the
super chats.

Speaker 6 (07:16):
Oh yes, we are going to make a microphone purchase
with superchat money. So thank you to the people for
all your contributions.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yes, so excited. This might be the.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
Last week you'll see these two guys using those microphones
right there.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
So yeah, I hate these I was about to say, well,
I don't realize because I get into like full like
anxiety o CD mode, and so I don't realize. I
don't think I like them either, because the roommate told
me she's like, every three minutes you're reaching up there
and touching your ears like you're looking for your baseball,
and like, god, yeah, exactly like it starts to get

(08:00):
it starts to it starts to look like I'm tweaking
on tailand all every now and then. I just did
it right there subconsciously. See, that's what I'm saying, So
I will be I will be happy to roll out
the new microphones and like LG said, thank you to
everybody that has helped drive us to the first purchase.

Speaker 6 (08:19):
Yes, and you don't have to just give money. You
can just subscribe to this program and that helps out.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
As we love you long time for Yeah, I saw
we are picked up a couple since last week, we're
we're up a couple. I I hate to see. I
hate to see. Well, I prefer stagnation over net loss,
so I will take I will take a couple up
week to week because we build Britain's right. Yeah, that's

(08:48):
I will say. Uh, I might have got I might
just be leaning towards self conscious. But I will note
whenever I put a specific post up to say like
hey go subscribe, that was when we lost a subscriber.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
So I like, I'm listening to this guy.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Yeah, I was about to say, I think there might
have been some further research done down the rabbit hole
that led somebody just touched it again.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
So to speak.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
But Like I said, we have so much to get
to We're not even gonna have the weekend recap. We're
gonna talk baseball there, but we've got so much to
get to baseballs.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
It was all about the last two games.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Well last what game? What was the eighteen inning game?

Speaker 3 (09:39):
That was Game five?

Speaker 4 (09:40):
That was so that was game four, right, and then
Toronto won the game five and the Dodgers had to
go and back to back to get the back to back.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
It's gonna be brutal to be a Blue Jays fan
after being you know, it reminded me a lot of
I don't I'm sure you don't. It reminded me a
lot of.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Canadians.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Yeah, in La.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
I'm not happy about it, but.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
It's still yeah. Is it though, or is it Japan?

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Is two point zero?

Speaker 3 (10:15):
It's wait to see the World Series Baseball Cup.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Yeah, the World Baseball Classic next year. That's basically during
spring training, right, yeah, because that's when they did it,
because that was I remember the some of the early
betting UH analytics where guys that had pitched in the
World Baseball Classic were dominant the first month of the
regular season because they were more tuned up competitively warm. Yeah. Yeah,

(10:44):
I will say this, speaking of the California Raisin shirt.
We saw VIAGRAA Boys Friday night, Halloween night, seeing a
good concert. Hell seeing a house show on Halloween, there's
so much fun.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Probably, I'd say we were definitely in the minority. Not
in costume. I wore my Stars Jamie Benn jersey because
one of Viagra Boys songs is just called sports yeah,
and so I was like, I'll just wear a jersey.
That'll be funny. But there was probably sixty forty h
sixty percent of the people in costumes and so just

(11:21):
being and it was an outdoor venue, so it was
big space. What a good time of year for outdoor,
perfect weather at the show, perfect show.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
I've ever seen wu tang in the midsummers and you're
just in there in the sweatbox. Yeah, right off. Was
that is that Stubbs that's right off of right Downtown Street. Yeah, yeah,
right behind the right behind the So it's a semi
and whatnot.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
But the thing about Stubbs is it's all it's a rectangle.
It's like very narrow and deep. The uh So we
saw we saw VIAGRAA Boys at far Out lounge, which
is right right where South Congress ends, where it hits slaughter.
It was Willie Nelson's old hole in the wall hangout.
It was a little you know, nickel saloon bar, not

(12:10):
where he didn't play a lot of good further oh yeah,
not bad, yeah, but it's it was more of a
like a festival ground in the backyard, way more spaced out.
You could get a good view from the sides, unlike
stubs where you're just in like a sardine camp. But
it was Friday night, and I'll tell you this is

(12:31):
a testament of how good the concert was. I didn't
check my phone one time.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
One time, not even the one time when you took
a picture of the.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Band, So the.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Roommate might have convinced I was in such a good
mood she was able to convince me to take multiple
pictures because it was I look, very rarely, I won't
spend all all night on this, but very rare does
a new band come around that. I'm like, okay, no,
this is this is potential rushmore like Mount rushmore level

(13:09):
band for me. I mean it's it's Devo. It's like
Joy Division meets Butthole Surfers.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Yeah, it's so great.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
It's so great. Yeah, it's so spectacular. But besides the
pictures that the roommate forced me, uh forced me to
take with the threats of violence if I didn't follow
through and take pictures with her. Now, I didn't check
my phone to look at the game at all, because
I thought, one, I'm at the concert, like I'm not.

(13:40):
I don't want to be distracted and looking like inning
by inning to see what happened. And but that was
Yamamoto night, and it was right it was Yamamoto game six.
So in my head I was already kind of chalking
it up to Yamamoto wins this and I'm and we're
gonna see a game seven Saturday.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Now.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
The spectacular play on that one was the game ending
double play. Yeah you know that was like they were
primed man on second, man on third, one out and
spectacular catch with a spectacular throw to second to double
them up.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
So with the funky ground world double that saved a run.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Yeah exactly. So it's that was that was. But let's
get to the end of the last game.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
So it was game the eighteen inning game was game three?

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Oh wait, that was that was gonna had to be
Game four.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
It was Game three, which is what makes it even
crazier that these pitching staff I'm looking right at it,
uh that these pitching staffs were able, like the fact
that Yamamoto is pitching winning Game six and then winning
Game seven.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
I thought the Dodgers lost right after game the eighteen
inning game.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
The no, because the Blue Jays tied it up. Blue
Jays won Game four after the Dodgers won Game three
in the eighteen.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Inning, and then they went in went one up. Okay, yeah,
all right, all right, that was wrong. Hell minutes.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Well I thought Game seven where I had to, like,
I'm out there screaming.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
White handcock, white handcock, you.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
Know, because old Will Smith with the go ahead home
run in the was it the tenth or eleven?

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Did you see the fun fact about that one? The
fact that Will Smith, a Will Smith has won a
World Series every year for the last six years. Yeah,
so it was obviously this year Will Smith for the Dodgers,
last year Will Smith for the Dodgers. The Rangers had

(15:45):
a relief pitcher named Will Smith, the Astros had a
Will Smith, the Braves had Will Smith, and then it
was the same Will Smith as the Dodgers in twenty twenty,
so we've had six such a generic name now six
straight World's series with Will Smith as a winner. I
think that's kind of the takeaway for me for the Dodgers.

(16:05):
The obviously Yamamoto very deserving MVP. I mean, oh yeah,
you talk about Uh. If you had told me at
the beginning of this series, we're gonna see a Japanese
player do something that you've rarely seen, if ever seen
in your life, the obvious answer would have been showhy
and the fact that Yamamoto is the one walking away

(16:28):
like I'm gonna remember this World Series because of his performance.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Yeah, dude, show hand show Hey, he blew it. You know,
they had a Yang came out in the third inning
because his stuff wasn't there. He was overthrowing his breaking.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Ball, had no control.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
He had started using his splitter, and that's like the
least used pitch in his arsenal. He's got seven or
eight of them in this.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Which tells you he had nothing.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Yeah he did.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
Yeah, no trust in any of his like go to pitches.
But Yamamoto comes in and throws two two and two
thirds of an inning at the end after coming off
of one hundred pitch, six inning, six and a half
inning performance, one run the day before.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Like that is the stuff where that's old school baseball
for me.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
What I'm saying, it's like, no, I'm coming in, like
I don't care if I got one day rest.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Well, he tried to come into the eighteen Indi game
and would have come in if he fine hadn't been
able to get out of that or if the Dodgers
hadn't been able to score in the bottom half of
that inning as much as like Yamamoto, obviously you know
MVP steals the headlines, but you will smith Is is
a good ballplayer.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Yeah, he's a solid utility man.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
That's that's your catcher who hits the game winning home
run in Game seven, Mickey Rojas with the game tying
home run and then the game saving defensive play pahez
would the great catch and center as he's towering over
the left fielder.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
What about the heads up player of the first baseman
throwing the ball home when the bases loaded, Yeah that
was Mickey that Yeah, where he stumbled, he's able to
snag it and he's falling backwards and able to get
the throw.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Beats I KF by half of a. I completely agree.
It was that close the and I heard I heard
a clip floating around of the Toronto radio broadcast losing
their mind in celebration because they thought it was over
and they thought, you know, that he was safe. And

(18:40):
I agree with you. If it had been called safe
on the field, that would have been really hard to overturn.
But all of that to say, obviously it's the Dodgers
heavy hitters, like you know, Mookie, Freddy Show, Hey, that
got him there. But it was their unsung heroes that
ended up.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Funny how that happens.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Baseball man, Yes, Aaron Boone.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
When he got dubbed his nick name Aaron Eff and Boom, Yeah,
you know, like he was.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
He was the eighth man. He was the eighth man.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
Like we were looking at going back to the top
of the order with Wakefield and Aaron eff and Boom
puts one over the you know, green monster.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
Yeah I I do. I keep going back to.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Sweet two thousand and three.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
If only, if only you could go back, if only,
if only this.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
Is a new generation. Yeah, well we just got a fire.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
We're getting ready because yeah, I was about to say, Aaron,
your first one God, we are as we get closer
to the Winter meetings, well, we're definitely going to hit
on some MLB free agency because.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
Bryce Harper wants out.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
You got who wants four hundred and we'll.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Get it from somebody, whether it's from Nets, Yankees, Dodgers,
someone will give him that money.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
If we're gonna compliance with even the Dodgers, the Mets,
all these big spenders, even the Phillies. You know, we
we gotta spend money like the Yankees used to spend money.
It's it's that simple, man. And like Bryce Harper's a
home run, Scooball is a home run. These guys are
going to be good, you know.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
So can I give you some I'll give you some
news that will.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
And Cody Bellinger opted out.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Yeah, free agency, that'll be an interesting one because his
what seven point zero war this year?

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Yeah he was, he was excellent during the regular season playoffs.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Yeah. Well, Vegas obviously has the Dodgers as the heavy
favorite for a three peat. But the Dodgers plus three
seventy five second team on the odds, the Yankees, Yankees
plus plus seven hundred, and then you get Phillies Astros
marins Man.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
They almost doubled up on them.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Yeah, well that's not in a good way.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
And here's here's Yeah, here's the thing. Man, if.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
Aaron Judge had his normal postseason and two years ago,
we would have beat the Dodgers. But he had one
of his worst postseason's career. But he averages like almost
four hundred in postseasons with home runs with RBIs he
is a bast during postseason. We saw that this year,
but last year was a faux pod. It was like,

(21:28):
what is going on?

Speaker 3 (21:30):
You know?

Speaker 4 (21:30):
And John Carlow I'm calling him Michael because he had
a down yere This year, Michael had the Judge style
season him like eight seven home runs. But I also
do like the fact did we see the home run
record get broken or the hit record?

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Like we got the total in now. Granted there's been more,
it's way more playoff games being played now, but the kid, oh,
the Blue Jays third baseman Ernie Clement ended up setting
the record for most hits in a playoff run. Okay,

(22:06):
but I mean again, if you're you know, if you're
a Blue Jays fan, it I mean you had the hated,
vaunted La Dodgers on the ropes in Game six. In
Game seven, you had you had the bases loaded with
one out and couldn't get a run. Where do you fall?

(22:28):
So I was as we were watching it, I should say, uh,
shout out to Jeremy and Nikki, congratulations on your wedding
Saturday night. Sorry we didn't get there till eleven forty
five because we were watching game seven and I couldn't.
I couldn't handle watching it in public. We as we
were watching.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Did you just go to the reception?

Speaker 2 (22:50):
So that's what That's exactly what it was. They actually
did it. They did it very similar to how we
did it, where small service and then reception at a
local bar and just be tabbed, come hang out. But again,
congratulations to the newlyweds. We during that Game seven, when
ikf was on second base, no outs and the Blue

(23:13):
Jays bunned him over to third and immediately I told Steph,
I was like, he's not gonna score Like that is
not that is So that's one of those rare baseball
decisions where the old heads that's just not how that
doesn't work. You take the risk that you're going to
get a base hit because a single can score him

(23:35):
from second obviously you're playing that you could score with
a sack fly, but the numbers just don't show that
bunning unless it's the extra inning where you've got the
ghost runner out there within zero with zero outs. But
when they did it, that was that kind of immediate
and they end up getting the bases loaded, but still

(23:55):
don't score.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
You know, it kills me, Like bunning some one over
was still like one of my favor My favorite play
was the running to the catcher, which we almost had close.
You know, you had full right to go run them over,
and I'm like, give me it. But suicide squeeze, like
when you have someone that fast, have him sit there

(24:17):
and dance, especially if you have a left handed picture
on the mound, you know, like push the button, you know,
to get a suicide squeeze on. Even if he's sitting
there popping off the base all the way to like
halfway off in between, there's so much that can go down,
and like the worst thing you can do is file
the ball off and run it and get it again.

(24:40):
But like I would just kill him on a suicide
squeeze and then all of a sudden, dude, fake it,
go there, do a little chopper and you got the
first basement, third basement already up, you know, just do
like a late.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
So they it wasn't it wasn't a suicide squeeze. But
do you remember the shot the Toronto did exactly that
and it just went right to Max Muntsey and all
he had to do was move his head out of
the way and put the glove up. But that was
That's exactly what I was thinking, because he was charging

(25:13):
in to play the bunt and then they tried to
slap it and it just again, you're better off doing
that though, because the odds that you're gonna hit it
right into Munsey's glove as he's charging in from third. Yeah,
so the odds are still in your favor. That's not
gonna happen. It was just another bad break for Toronto. Yeah,
we're going to obviously as we get closer to the

(25:36):
real MLB hot stove heating up, I should say I
forgot I buried the lead. It is It's National Candy Day,
which is stupid because why is National Candy Day on
November a.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Half price at the stores it's half it's free.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Yet here at the residents where we currently reside, a
lot of Yeah, they load you up with the banana.
The only person that likes banana, laughy Taffy's my grandma
because that's the only flavor she had majority of her life.
It's an ass flavor. Like we have the ASS category here,
I do have a we have a new clip to

(26:12):
submit to the ASS category and it does involve your
Dallas Cowboys. But Saturday skipping, I should say it's National
Candy Day, but it's also election day. So I am
going through. Greg's going keeping us up on the prope
Prop B. Do we actually have any results coming in yet?

Speaker 4 (26:34):
Yeah, it's for sure, fifty seven to forty two and
fifty three to forty six.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
You were right. I thought that was gonna be more
a sixty four.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
Now, well you almost got to sixty forty.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
I voted today.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
Those are that's already it's already been called though, like
we're officially or is that just where we're at currently?

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Are we? I think?

Speaker 2 (26:58):
Okay? So that's the The early voting results were fifty
seven in favor of Prop A, fifty three in favor
of Prop B. Yeah, but the I mean with the
polls just closing an hour and a half ago, and
people still lined up to vote. I that I don't

(27:20):
think there's going to be enough day of voting to
swing that to where it loses. But I bet it
does tighten up a lot because I think the majority
of people that were against it. I think the majority
of people voting day of are probably voting against it.
But I don't you think.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
I like, I voted the.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Day of and I voted for it, yeah, you know,
And I didn't know there was eight pages of like
props on there, so like, oh, it's the white Wifey's like,
tell me what do I need to do?

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Like I always listened to you and.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
Vote, And I was like, I give her the specs
and I'm like, okay, this is yes. I do kind
of tend to make billionaires pay for their own craw,
you know. But I was I was like, this is
just going to create so much commerce and it's gonna
make the city nicer. We don't have to worry about
rejuvenating the area because the pearls already happening. All this
stuff's already happening. So we know we're going to get

(28:13):
a better final result than we did with the Frost
Bank and the att.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
It's different you know, like when the Alamo Dome was built,
that was built with a one percent tax applied to
San Antonio citizens, this one being tourism and hotel and
car rental base. So it's even different in the way
that the Alamo Dome was financed and the Alamodome, as
Andy was, Andy gave me a history lesson on air

(28:39):
today because it actually it's it's kind of a shining
example of a rare government project that actually does pay
for itself on time zero the balance zero, the ledger out.
And now the UTSA Roadrunners are twenty four and oh
in the Dome during American Conference games.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
Yeah, I was no they they lost one of them
in there, not a not a conference game.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
They lost to Texas State in the Dome earlier or
earlier this year. Big win for UTSA. In fact, let's
do that here because since it is weekend recap and
we missed talking college football last week, uh, let's burn
through a little bit of the college football.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Man showed out to this week.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
It's it's a completely okay. Arch showed out and Arch
absolutely looks like a different player than he did against
uh utep or San Jose State and any of the
other cream puffs they were playing at the beginning of
the year. But more importantly the changes on the offensive line.
They shuffled the offensive line, yeah, end up finally finding

(29:51):
some cohesion between amongst the unit. And I mean that's
that Vanderbilt games the best the offensive line has played
all year, which I think.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
Obviously time in the pocket to actually do. He didn't
have to roll out as much, even though I do
love him on the rollouts, you know, because he's got
that run option.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
But now that's where the danger, that's where he poses
a different kind of danger than any of his family
with the same last name.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
And they come down to the end.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Well, that was a bit that was a bit unfortunate
the way the final uh. But I mean, dude, like
that two point conversion, what is the sec replay team
seeing like you can see from every camera angle in
the stadium that the ball doesn't cross the line or
doesn't cross the plane into the end zone. And even

(30:41):
the you know, I was making the roommate watch it
with me as we were stealing someone else's streaming log in,
because I dude, I.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
Set the alarm stealing.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
It's sharing, it's sharing, that's right, it's bartering. We're we're
actually devolving back to trading beaver pelts.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
For ESPN paramount. I'll give you peacock man.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Come on, so we already do that, and I just
never since we had gotten YouTube TV, I hadn't had
to have an ESPN log in.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Oh you're missing your quad box.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
So dude, it's brutal. It's terrible that I can't flip.
I'm turning into Archie Bunker on my couch, just complaining
about not being able to flip. Not it was a
it was a rough weekend for me.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
I'mna tell the roommate to hide the remote.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
Don't. Don't put me through that kind of trauma. You
know what kind of shape my heart is in it.
I can't handle that. No, I'd set the alarm Saturday
morning for ten to fifty five because I popped right
out of bed, turned the game on right, turned the
eleven am window on. I had completely forgot that it

(31:50):
was off a YouTube TV. So at ten fifty six,
I'm randomly calling. I spam calling like seven different friends. Hey,
I need your ESPN log in. Well, hey man, I
haven't heard from your No, no time for small talk.
Give me your username and your password. Now.

Speaker 4 (32:05):
It was like, my buddy upgraded the Hulu, so I
got to watch some of the ABC games on the Hulu.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
Oh because Hulu has the live TV.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Yeah, but you have to upgrade to that.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Well, and they're Disney now too.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
Right, ESPN Disney Bundle. You know it's pretty LULUs.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Yeah, but YouTube gets your crap together.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Yeah, come out really, especially like on a weekend where
the Cowboys played Monday Night Football like they knew what
they were doing.

Speaker 4 (32:33):
What's the leverage? Are they going to raise the price again?
I just might go with direct TV.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
I mean I read there losing Uh. I sent a
buddy in, uh direct TV, what is it direct TV
now or something like that. I sent a buddy that
way because he was looking for uh he was he
chose to cut the cord. The week that YouTube tv
lost ESPN. I was like, brother, you picked up bed

(32:57):
and he's like, you've been telling me how great you
I was like, yeah, well not this week. Yeah, go
to direct TV.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Well I've got some bad news for you. Next week Texas, Georgia.
It's gonna be on ABC at six point thirty. Well,
I'm gonna go, You're gonna go out for that one.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
I don't mind watching Texas. I mean, it's not the
Cowboys out in public.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
Yeah, I can't do Cowboys in public or Game seven's
of any sport. I like to get the full experience there.
The I don't mind watching Texas games in public, especially here,
because it's you're mainly surrounded.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
So Texas got to run the gauntlet. Man, Arkansas is
the only one that's gonna be an easy one. But
A and M and Georgia they run it. I think
they're in.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
If they run it, they're in, no question, because that
would also mean they knock out Georgia. And depending on
what A and M does between now and the Thanksgiving week.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
Georgia barely beat Florida last week twenty four.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
That's always a tough game. I mean, that's always a
sneaky good right.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
It's not a blowout against South Carolina is spur you're
still coaching that team.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Uh negative, No, it's a South Carolina is Beamer Beamer ball.

Speaker 3 (34:13):
And then Georgia Tech got their first loss.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
Finally, they they have been fraudulent.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
Against the mighty n C State.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Dude. So n C State is a weird one too,
because Virginia's only loss on the year is too n
C State. They're both in the ACC, but the game
they played doesn't count as a conference game. It counts
as an overall game. Because of all of the movement,

(34:42):
all the conference realignment, Virginia and NC State didn't have
a game. They lost non conference opponents, and so they
played each other as a non conference game, and that's
Virginia's only loss.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
That's that's like a friendly man.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
That's exactly what it which is weird. Uh, you know,
looking now at how high Virginia has climbed in the rankings. Yeah,
we'll burn through some of the top twenty five before
we talk rankings.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Yes, so Miami lost SMU over time. Why is that good?

Speaker 2 (35:16):
You went there, my grandpa, My grandpa went, we're in SMU.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
Now Miami is on the verge of not making the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
Oh, I love to see it.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
So it's better Miami's like football. College football is better
when Miami's in the mix.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
I don't disagree, if only to see Mike Irvan losing
his absolute.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
He was literally chewing his nails off on the on
the sideline. I love.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
The fact that SMU beat a top ten team for
the at home for the first time in fifty one's
years at Priest Homes Or was that SMU fifty one
years ago?

Speaker 4 (35:53):
No, No, not that. I'm just saying. Who was the
famous running back that went to SMBU well.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Eric Dickerson, Eric Dickerson, James went to SMU. Doak Walker
went to.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
SMU, Priest Holmes Maybe No, Priest was ut ut Priest
was technically Ricky Williams fullback if I remember correctly, he was.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
We need to switch that around, right, That's my whole point. Yeah, Like,
and then became a stud in the league. Ohio State
struggled at first with Penn State. That was a seventeen
fourteen game at half, but ended up being a thirty
eight fourteen game. Not much challenge there. Indiana continues to
do what Indiana does, and that is blow the doors

(36:36):
off of everyone else in the conference.

Speaker 4 (36:39):
Then they and they got they got a week schedule, right,
They're like, so they're basically just gonna run the run
the table.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
Oh, I think I think Indiana's pretty I mean, unless
it's somewhere out of nowhere.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
Yeah, they got they had They got Penn State, which
is three and five. They got Wisconsin two and six
and then Perdue two and seven, so they're gonna run
the table. They're gonna fifty every game, yep, you know.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
And and that that's where I say like college football
would be in a quote unquote better place nationally if
that was Miami doing that and not Indiana.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
But also I'm interesting.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
I kind of like the chaos. So I don't mind
seeing SMU upset Miami. I don't mind seeing NC State
upset Georgia Tech because I still think especially ACC schools there,
they weren't going to get multiple bids to begin with. Yeah,

(37:36):
so if it's you know, upsets in the ACC, I
feel differently about those games than I do SEC or
Big Ten or Big Twelve for that matter. I mean,
the Big twelve is passed the age.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
If it wasn't for the Oregon coming over and USC,
the Big Ten would only have two good teams. And
it's Michigan's down. Yeah, Penn State's down. Even though they
were ranked with top two, they were number two, they
were ranked second at one point or third? Ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
And so now Oregon are they even ranked anymore?

Speaker 2 (38:14):
Oregon?

Speaker 3 (38:15):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (38:15):
Yeah, Oregon slid in. They are number nine Okay, they
just had they'd had an off week. Yeah, they were
just off this week.

Speaker 4 (38:22):
And the game of the week was Oklahoma Tennessee and
Oklahoma squeaked that by which you know it's always a
horrible day when that happens.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Yeah, Oklahoma is in the you know, they're in the
same boat as Texas's went out, and the chips will
fall in your favor.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
But and if Texas wins out, it gives more Oklahoma
more seating because that's the team they lost.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
If both of them can get in, because it also
is gonna potentially end up being the decider.

Speaker 4 (38:53):
As looking at Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A and
m are we looking.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
At six eight six to eight SEC schools.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Don't forget ole Miss.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Whole Miss.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
Yeah, still top top.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Six twelve teams go to the playoffs this year, yep.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
And one of them is guaranteed to be a small school. Yeah,
so right now, that would be Memphis.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
So and then so you got Tech from I don't
see anybody else from Big twelve b YU.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
I mean that's a big game. Like game days there
this weekend in Lubbock, undefeated BYU one lost Texas team yeah,
but that's the game out of week.

Speaker 4 (39:36):
Yeah, but I think how many byus like lost like
two or three?

Speaker 2 (39:40):
Right, undefeated get out of here. Yeah, they're running the
big twelve b YU right as we sit here. Right now,
I know, I know that's that game is now really interesting.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
Young You know, he was a ruthless, ruthless killer.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
He knew what he was doing. I'll say that the
So the SEC school right now currently in the in
the first College Football Playoffs A and M three, Alabama four,
Georgia five, Ole Miss six. So you've got three through
six that are all SEC schools, and then the first

(40:20):
two teams out are Texas and Oklahoma.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
So there's your six SEC schools, four of them comfortably
in and the next two schools out of the top twelve.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
Let me see what Vandy's got on the table. Vandy's
got Tennessee as their last game.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
That could be.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Nice end state rival now.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
And then that's the only I think the.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Vandy run was fun. But we've we've probably lost Diego
Pavia in a playoff.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
They didn't lose horribly. You know, they went up against Texas,
who beat.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
They didn't lose horribly. At the end of it, but
they were pretty much physically dominated for three quarter that
again yeah oh yeah crazy Yeah. Well and your big
ten schools Ohio State, Indiana one and two. Yeah, and
then I think that's it. Yeah, so oh Oregon, God,

(41:21):
I keep forgetting Oregon AC.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
The first one that's coming up is.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
Virginia is your only ACC school and I don't think
that holds, like I don't know how much. Again, this
is why, like these rankings right now are going to
look incredibly different week to week.

Speaker 3 (41:41):
The only thing that Miami's got is Pitt that's ranked
who just crept into the rankings at twenty four.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
Yeah that pit only two loss. Pitt is funny too.
Pitt is recruiting the hell out of our area right now.
They got let's have a coach daily the stud quarterback
up at Sageen High. Awesome player committed to Pitt. And
then they've also got another quarterback. I can't remember which.
It's one of the Austin schools or somewhere right there,

(42:10):
like west Lake and some like not even that, it's
one of the like smaller I'll have to look it up,
but they've recruited.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
Oh it's one of these, you know, yeah, like one
of the new like Vandergriff schools that sit there.

Speaker 2 (42:21):
And I don't think it's one of the private parochial
taps playing a prograger. It might be. I can't remember
off the top of my head, but I was shocked
to see because I'm still such a college football sicco.
I look at the top one hundred Texas recruits. Yeah,
and you know, look at them by region by city,

(42:41):
and I kept seeing Pitt pop up there for multiple,
you know, big time quarterback recruits we have in our area.
The sagein kids a stud though, that's the one that
I think they're really excited about.

Speaker 4 (42:54):
And why did they put BYU Texas tech As at
the eleven o'clock game? That's gonna be the big game
in the beginning.

Speaker 2 (43:00):
Oh, that's an eleven o'clock.

Speaker 4 (43:01):
That's eleven o'clock. And then they put Texas A and
M in Missouri. Uh no, that's that's the ABC game.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
Fun.

Speaker 4 (43:11):
But then the other spotlighted game is Oregon Iowa. You know,
both of them are top top tens facing in the twenties.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
It was exactly what they always are, a sneaky good
football team that is going to finish nine and three, and.

Speaker 4 (43:28):
Yeah, they're gonna they just got good defense and then
I guess they get put.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
The game of the week is L.

Speaker 4 (43:33):
S U Alabama L s U three losses, Alabama one loss.

Speaker 2 (43:39):
Yeah, I'm not sure how much.

Speaker 4 (43:41):
Let's see if Alabama without O'Brien kelly his gun bow,
he was gonna make.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
It work for him and his family. Family now moving
to the Midwest where they belong. You're sleeping on I'm
crossing my fingers but not holding my breath. If Navy
and beat in there, that's why we need Navy because

(44:12):
not only if Navy beats Notre Dame, it potentially gets
Notre Dame out of our out of our college football playoffs,
but it also.

Speaker 3 (44:21):
I mean, you don't think Syracuse could do the job?

Speaker 2 (44:23):
No, God, no, I think they're on their fitt No. No,
and then white Notre Dame still has pit.

Speaker 3 (44:32):
Yeah, they have pit after the next week. I mean
that's the most realistic. That's the most realistic. I mean Navy,
they're like they will sneak up doing the option.

Speaker 2 (44:41):
In twenty seven point underdogs traveling to South Bend. But
if they can win, it would also set Navy up
to potentially because I want Navy, I want one of
the service academies to get into a college football playoff
within the next few years. Do exactly just slow everything down. Yeah,
just total fall control. Be the fastest playoff game in

(45:04):
the Yeah, exactly have three whistles the first half of
the game. Yeah, it's I mean that that Texas A
and M Missouri game is sneaky interesting because I think
outside of Texas that's the only other real speed bump
A and M potentially has and A and M can

(45:25):
get away with one loss, probably two, but then you
start to sweat it a little more. But obviously that
that b y U Tech game with game day on
side up there in Lubbock, that'll probably be the one
I am most locked into this weekend. But should also
say UTSA underdogs at home last Thursday night and ended.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
Up handily, handily beating two Lane.

Speaker 2 (45:54):
Did you follow any of the back and forth between
the two Lane coach and trailer last week? So the
Tulane coach called for an investigator, a conference investigation into
UTSA because they, he said, they're piping in crowd noise
and playing music as they were going up to snap

(46:15):
the ball. Once the ball had been set and the
official backed to way whatever it said. Utsa's band was
playing daring snaps while while they were exactly he went
full and he also said, look, I know this conference
just as good as anybody. There's no way one team
should be undefeated at home over the last three years.

(46:35):
Clearly they're doing something. Yeah, Jeff's Jeff's presser after the
game Thursday night was an all timer because you could
tell you could tell how it was.

Speaker 4 (46:47):
Also, it's like he's making excuses for the loss before
it even before, Like, good job, coach, you're a one.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
I want to know what your motivating speech is.

Speaker 4 (46:56):
Listen, boys, we're gonna lose, but let's just put a
good showing there.

Speaker 2 (47:00):
But I've already got the ground work and excuses so
you won't have to worry about the loss. I'll take
this with the line of excuses I have. It was
also Trailer's fiftieth win at utso oh nice Benchmartin David Robinson,
that's right, five, oh the admiral, speaking of how about
we shift into some spurs notes as.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
I spurs, Lennie, your sons beat us. I see you
on the chat. Oh, Wimby got four blocks on those.
That's so yeah, dude, little backhanded compliments. I see you.

Speaker 3 (47:35):
Yeah, so he's a Suns fan.

Speaker 2 (47:39):
Wimby first time he's scored in single digits almost to.

Speaker 3 (47:46):
The day a year ago. Oh wow.

Speaker 2 (47:48):
So the last time before the game against Phoenix, the
last time Wimby had scored in single digits was October
thirtieth of last year against the eventual champion Thunder.

Speaker 3 (48:00):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (48:01):
Yeah, yeah, so I that's you don't see that often.

Speaker 4 (48:05):
So you're not mean, you're saying we can't do eighty two.
So eighty one is the goal, that's the benchmark.

Speaker 2 (48:10):
Yeah, we are we are now down to uh, we
are now down to eighty one and one being the
the goal with uh.

Speaker 3 (48:20):
They couldn't miss, dude, Like, oh no.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
And honestly, at the end of the nine.

Speaker 4 (48:25):
We looked, we looked unready, like like there was a
lot of procedural and eighty.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
Two game season, Like you're gonna have that pop up
and bite you every now and then no matter how
good you are. There's a reason the best team is
only ever gone seventy three and nine.

Speaker 4 (48:43):
Yeah, you know, like and when when we a seventy
two and ten team that year.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
No, the we were the Warriors team.

Speaker 3 (48:51):
I thought we were racing with them on that.

Speaker 2 (48:53):
Yeah, but I thought it was like sixty sixty two,
sixty four.

Speaker 4 (48:58):
Somewhere we broke seventy, really, I believe. So you guys,
so chat to Totistol if you want to.

Speaker 2 (49:09):
Sixteen. No, don't, don't ask that sixty seven. You didn't
break seventy, but it was a little higher than I remembered.
It was sixty seven, not sixty four. And an upstart
thunder team at fifty five. No, the the biggest issue
coming out of the game was not the loss. It
was the injury news Dylan Harper uh strained left calf.

Speaker 3 (49:31):
Hopefully two weeks max.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
It sounds like they dodged the bigger bullet, yeah, and
they're eating the smaller one. Is it's.

Speaker 4 (49:39):
So, I mean, we got I think it's time that
I know we're resting the Aaron Fox Sohn, a couple
other people bringing let's bringing our boys back in. You know,
we gotta we gotta create some offense.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
So the as far as uh tomorrow night out going
up against LA against the Lakers, still no, Fox doesn't
look Still no Cornette. Both of them fully ruled out
for tomorrow night, which I know, and the Fox one,

(50:17):
like they told just Fox and so Handed, they didn't
expect to miss more than two or three games. And
we're going into game seven but no Fox, no Cornette,
Olenock and so Hand still to be decided. So we
might get the debut of both of Kelly Olinok and
so Hand, but still no Fox, which means more Castle

(50:38):
at point, more j Mac running back up. Also Lindy Waters,
I think was it's still going through potential questionable.

Speaker 3 (50:48):
John out more involved in the game. I think Basel
is gonna have some breakout, but they need to work
on that pick and roll. You know, it wouldn't be moving.

Speaker 4 (51:01):
Up towards the basket without the ball, even though he's
got good handles.

Speaker 2 (51:06):
I think at this point it's it's a matter of
the fact that they First of all, the fact that
the Spurs had never started five and oh is crazy
to me. Yeah, yeah, that's some two decades of greatness
of domination and never started five and oh.

Speaker 4 (51:26):
But that was, like I always said, that is because
we played all the elite teams, because we were the team.

Speaker 2 (51:31):
Getting matched up, and also you had a lot of
pop playing with lineup, figuring stuff out, putting guys out
of their comfort zones, especially.

Speaker 4 (51:40):
Towards the later and like Tony was always banged up
or Genobi or Dunky somebody he was like, I'm pulling Yeah,
I know he's sitting this game.

Speaker 2 (51:48):
Yeah, or he's playing twenty two minutes instead of thirty
or thirty two or whatnot. Yeah, the but that did
happen since the last time we were in the room together.
I think the fact that they were able to go,
the fact that they were able to bank five wins
on the Ledger without the Aaron Fox, and now it

(52:11):
kind of feels like with Fox still out and now
Dylan Harper out, we might lose some games that we
should have won if the end, So it feels like
it's a bit of a it's gonna balance itself out
to like.

Speaker 4 (52:23):
Give a real update on Fox, Like what are we
looking at three more games?

Speaker 2 (52:27):
The longer it goes, the I mean, especially because now
I mean fully ruled out for tomorrow night, we're not
even getting Ah, We're gonna put him through a you know,
pre game exercise to see where he's at or anything
like that. But all that being said, there's only one
team in the West that has a better record right.

Speaker 3 (52:47):
Now and not this neck.

Speaker 4 (52:49):
Not we play the Lakers, so I'm excited to see
how we match up against them.

Speaker 2 (52:53):
Six and two Lakers versus five and one Spurs. Also,
did you watch any of the Lakers game last night?

Speaker 3 (52:59):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (53:00):
Yeah, with no Luca, no Reeves, no Lebron and they
beat Portland, who Portland's had a surprisingly good start four
and two until the lost last night.

Speaker 4 (53:12):
That was a good game, man. I was watching it
and just right at the end they just went away
with it. The last Sea Yeah, until what's his.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
Name, Oh my god, the little Nolan Smith or Nick Smith,
nick Smith junior there. He's on a two way contract
for them, and he dropped twenty points over the course
of the last quarter and a half of that game
last night. But Luca rested, probably gonna we'll be I

(53:38):
would expect to see him tomorrow night. But it should
anytime Spurs Lakers, it's must watch TV.

Speaker 4 (53:44):
Especially then we got a group group games go against
Houston right after that, so it's two huge games that
wouldn't mind having a veteran point guard, an All Star.

Speaker 3 (54:00):
And clutch fourth quarter, fourth quarter killer.

Speaker 2 (54:05):
Did you see the they're bringing back the Fiesta jerseys too.

Speaker 3 (54:08):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (54:09):
Yeah, and the good ones, the ones that have just
the uh, the Fiesta color stripe across the just all
black look real real cold. Yeah. Yeah yeah. They unveiled
the Uh I've got a pair of shorts. I got
a pair of the Fiesta shorts when they brought them out.
What was that like, three four years ago now?

Speaker 3 (54:28):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (54:28):
And they released what the court's gonna look like as well,
pretty pretty damn sharp. But uh, at this point again,
if they can keep banking wins, want fighting all of
this injury adversity. Uh, they're well ahead of uh, well ahead,
well ahead of where I think you would expect them

(54:49):
to be. If I if I had told you Darren
Fox misses the first six games of the season, Jeremy
Sohan misses the first six games, and now Dylan Harper
is going to miss two weeks, I think you'd be
praying for five hundred. Yeah, not looking at only one
team above you and the standings, and the one team
being the defending champs who are seven to oh to

(55:11):
start the year.

Speaker 4 (55:12):
I'm just waiting for them to get forty five so
we can ship. Like I'll do something like what shavy
stats break break? Yeah, snap that little Mississippi mud slide action.

Speaker 2 (55:24):
Look, I'm saying I think Vegas might have been a
little wrong on that number. But a lot of basketball
to be played, yes, and of course a lot of
basketball to talk about as we continue on in the
I saw someone post it's no longer the race for
says it's the race for say say seu quat, SAT's French.

(55:53):
It's French. Now it's now the race for say. Oh god,
that's right, that's right. Let's talk some cowboys, shall we. Yes,
let's get into that, because honestly, there is there's more
to talk about what they did today than what they

(56:14):
did last night.

Speaker 3 (56:14):
We can talk about what happened last year.

Speaker 2 (56:16):
Well, we're going to trust me. Cowboys suffer back to
back losses for the first time this season full twenty
seven to seventeen. And last week when we were sitting
in here, you picked the Cardinals. I picked Dallas. But
I think if I could go back and you told
me the Cowboys defense would only give up twenty seven points,

(56:41):
I would have said, oh, I'm even more confident in
my pick, like they're only giving up that Canals had a.

Speaker 4 (56:48):
Sneaky good defense. So you know, the Arizona Cardinals, here's
a staff for you. Are three and ten playing on
Monday night football in franchise history.

Speaker 2 (56:57):
I believe it's four and ten now after last night.

Speaker 4 (57:01):
No, like this is kind of that. All three wins
have come from the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (57:08):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think I think they're eight and
one now in their last nine matchups against Dallas. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (57:18):
I always knew they had trouble with the Cardinals for
some reason. It's just that it's the back of their heads.
Emond Smith, the terror letting them go to the Cardinals
to go get his record.

Speaker 2 (57:30):
Yeah, we'll call it the Emmett curse, the fact that
he ever wore that jersey.

Speaker 4 (57:34):
I mean, they brought Zeke back, but they didn't bring
Emmit back.

Speaker 2 (57:39):
It was different times back then. It was different times.
Zeke Zeke was Zeke had he knew where the bodies
were buried for Jerry. Jerry let Zeke get too close.
He couldn't let him walk like he did Emit. Yeah.
The I mean talking specifically. We'll do winners and losers

(57:59):
as all, but specifically that Cardinals twenty seven point total.
I would have taken that bet I would have been confident.
Except for here, the Cowboys had nine possessions. Okay, tell
me if this is a good turn of events. Nine possessions.
This is how they went turnover on downs, Which is

(58:22):
funny because we talked about last week how Shody should
have gone for it in Denver when they got goal
to go on the first possession, he settled for the
field goal. Last night he went for it and got
zero points. Might have changed how the second half was called.
Play calling wise, Cowboys, nine possessions, turnover on downs, punt, fumble,

(58:44):
miss Phil goal, the sixty eight yard attempt by Aubrey. Yeah,
then Phil goal because Shody the second time they get
down goal to go settles for the field goal after
the Dack sack, then another turnover on downs, then their
only touch down of the night, only offensive touchdown of
the night, and then a fumble by Javonte Williams and

(59:06):
then an interception. Desperation.

Speaker 3 (59:07):
What about not going for your only down? Like what?

Speaker 4 (59:11):
They were down ten points and they did not go
for They were down seventeen points and they decided to
go for it instead of kicking the field goal.

Speaker 2 (59:23):
Oh wait, I mean Arizona when Arizona kicked the field
goal or when no Cowboy Oh yeah yeah right right right.

Speaker 4 (59:29):
It was like all the analytics say is like, you're
gonna need a field goal, get the points, so you
don't give them moment by turning it over on downs
and CD had to come back to that ball.

Speaker 2 (59:43):
Yeah, and CD ran a twelve yard what looked like
a ya was a seven yard hitch ye, Like I
don't even think it was seven either. I think it
was like or yeah that was.

Speaker 3 (59:54):
I was like, no, I'm gonna get the twelve Yeah,
I mean I've got shoddy as a loser.

Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
For like there were there were some It feels like
he might have listened to the media a little too
much after last week because clearly when they were on
that first possession, drove all the way down, had first
and goal, end up not scoring on the first three
downs and are facing fourth and goal. I told the roommate,

(01:00:24):
I was like, he's gonna go for it here because
he didn't do it last week. Yeah, and now you
would analytics would say you do that on the road,
you go for it at home, you take the points
because you've got the crowd bind you know, whatever other
impact or effect is in your favor at home versus

(01:00:46):
on the road. But I look, I think we are
officially ready to say.

Speaker 3 (01:00:55):
We put him in the ass category.

Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
Bubba. There was only one game in the ass category
this week because the Browns and Jets were both on
by and win. A three five and one team plays
a two and five, now three and five team. Yeah,
that is that is firmly in the ass category.

Speaker 3 (01:01:18):
The trade moves.

Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
As a as a the opposite of a fan of
the Cowboys. What's your takeaway on what they gave up
versus what they got back, mainly in Quinn Williams.

Speaker 4 (01:01:34):
I know, Quinn Williams was the headline not I mean
they got the Cincinnati line.

Speaker 2 (01:01:39):
Yeah, Logan Wilson, but that's a seventh round pick. Yeah,
And I wish they had spent more seventh round picks
on guys like Logan Wilson.

Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
But to give up two first round picks, so they
didn't give up to first.

Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
They gave up the for Quinn Williams. The deal was
their second round pick this year. Yeah, they're first the
better of their first round picks next year, whether that's
Theirs or the Packers and Mozzie Smith, Mazzi was getting
cut no matter what. Yeah, exactly. It's like, I mean,

(01:02:14):
you'll could take a flyer on him twenty seven.

Speaker 3 (01:02:18):
He's twenty seven. Okay, so that makes.

Speaker 2 (01:02:20):
It three straight Pro Bowls, one All Pro twenty seven
signed for three more years this year, two more so
you'd be redoing a deal in his age thirty season. PFF.
For whatever it's worth, his stats have been down as
a pass rusher significantly this year. He had like a
fourteen percent pressure rate last year, down to eight percent

(01:02:42):
this year. But he's still the highest graded run defender
amongst interior linemen, which, if you remember, Jerry said, we
got to stop the run. We gotta stop We got
Kenny Clark, you.

Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
Gotta stop the pass, you gotta stop everything Bland had.
He looked. I don't want to hear him in the
top five cornerback category.

Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
Anyone that ever said that to begin with, don't trust
whatever else they have to say about football. I've got
We'll talk Bland Darren a minute. I've got him. I
do think it's a bit Bland was. It was a
weird game because Bland didn't play well, which also contributed
to the fact that he was their leading tackler, which
when your cornerback is a leading tackler in a game

(01:03:27):
that's good, tells you how bad the defense is. But
I also think it was it was the first time
Bland had been used exclusively on the outside. This season,
we've seen Bland guard bigger receivers on the outside. It
doesn't go well. That's why he had traditionally been sliding
in to play that nickel while the other while two

(01:03:48):
undrafted guys were playing on the outside. Because this defense
is so bad, the Logan Wilson trade will start with
it seventh round pick, twenty nine year old defensive captain
of the Bengals. Ironically, the Cowboys trade for a defensive
captain from the only defense that's worse than there.

Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
It's so cowboy, what are you doing?

Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
It's good? But all of that being said, is Logan
Wilson better than Kenneth Murray Junior? By a mile? Is
he better than Jack Sanborn by two miles? Like that's
just how bad their roster here.

Speaker 3 (01:04:26):
When you're behind by twenty four miles.

Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
That's my whole point, Like, you're not catching anybody. But
if the Cowboys do want to climb back out of
the ass category, so to speak, into the fringe to
have any chance of sniffing playoffs. Logan Wilson is better
than anyone they have in the building right now. That
is hard to argue against. And you only gave up

(01:04:49):
a seventh. That move was the move Jerry talked about.
We've already done a trade. I just can't announce it.
That was that trade.

Speaker 3 (01:04:56):
Oh yeah, that was that move.

Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
That helps them this year. Only Logan Wilson's not going
to be a player in this thing multiple years into
the future. That's where the Quinn Williams trade is different.

Speaker 3 (01:05:09):
At least y'all did something.

Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
Yeah, and we'll talk about your niners lack of lack
of activity yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:05:16):
I think that. I think the consensus was just we
got too many injuries. Man, there's no way we can,
like well Andrew keep winning. Yeah, we keep So it's
a soft schedule.

Speaker 4 (01:05:27):
We are getting back some you know, one guy's on
ir one guy should be coming like, let's go Huff
should be coming back, you know this week or next week.
Party should be coming back this week. I you, I
don't know what's going on. I mean, I thought we
were using this trade bait or Jennine's using his trade bait,

(01:05:48):
but ik is finally going to come back, and that
was brock Perty's favorite receiver.

Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
Yeah, I think that changes. I think that that helps.

Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
The Pierce All hopefully comes back like see.

Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
And that's where, like a lot of the I thought
the Cowboys would do that route where they would call
Demarvian Overshown and schavan Ravel basically trade deadline act because
they're coming back from injury. They haven't played all year
for the Cowboys. I did not expect Quinn Williams because
that one does. I think, even as even as the

(01:06:22):
most jaded Cowboy fan out there, it's hard to argue
just the amount of talent that just entered the building.
And it does when you lose as much talent as
you did in the Mica trade to get anybody back
like Kenny Clark is not on the same level as Micah.
Quinn Williams is closer. He's not on the same level.

(01:06:43):
I'm not saying that, but that is at least talent
that I can look at and say he is elite
at run stopping. He's worth as he's worth the first
and if you think about it, basically the Cowboys that
traded Micah Parsons the second round pick they just sent
to the Jets, and Mozzie Smith will keep saying it

(01:07:06):
since it was technically a part of the trade, but
that means nothing. So they traded Parsons and that second
round pick for Quinn Williams, Kenny Clark and another first
round pick. You get what I'm saying, because they got
two back for Micah, they gave one up. No, no, no,
That's where I'm saying, Like I still one hundred times

(01:07:30):
out of one hundred say that is terrible business. It's
awful business, especially when you add the fact that they
did it a week before the season started and the
defense has been.

Speaker 4 (01:07:42):
So are they keeping their first round pick next year
or no, that's the one they.

Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
That they will keep. Whichever pick is better between theirs
or Green Bay. Yeah, come on, now, we'll see whichever
pick is better goes to the Jets.

Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
Okay, goes the Jets.

Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
So they'll get the worst first round pick they keep
next year. But all of that to say, did you
see that you got Quinn Williams and you got two
first round picks still in this draft to get better immediately.

Speaker 3 (01:08:13):
In twenty twenty six.

Speaker 4 (01:08:15):
In twenty twenty six and twenty twenty seven, in the
first two rounds, the Jets will have I think it's
like seventy seven. Yeah, I saw the picks. I'm like,
they can rebuild a team on that well.

Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
And the I mean from a Jets perspective, the quickest
way to turning around to franchise is finding the guy
at quarterback. And I think that's what now with multiple
first round picks and back to back years, they can
look at this draft class, this quarterback class and say,
either this is this is the guy we want. We're

(01:08:52):
going to use next year's resources to trade to move
up if we have to, We've locked in on our guy.
Or they can say, no one in this quarterback class
is as appealing as someone we can get next year,
and we've still got all this ammunition next year to
go because that one of those picks is going to

(01:09:12):
be their future franchise quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:09:17):
But again, you got any other winners and losers of that.

Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
Game winner Sam Williams, not the defensive lineman Sam Williams,
the special teamer Sam william to block the punt with
his head, didn't, and it was Steph's roommates said, like,
they need to put check him in concussion protocol because
it was just just smashed into his face mask. Neeland's

(01:09:43):
a win or two for managing to not knock the
ball out of because that.

Speaker 6 (01:09:48):
Was what.

Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
Body alright, I know that's someone who's been coached.

Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
I was very I even say I said it out loud.
I was like, he's gonnaout, He's going to try to
fall on this. It's just going to square it out
of the back of the end zone. The uh Jacoby Brissette,
who now Gannon is saying, is their starting quarterback. There's
a winner, no questions.

Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
CD did come out. I guess you know. Kyler's Kyler's busy.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
He's it's it's really hard not to fall into that narrative.
But when you see Jacoby Brissett have eight hundred plus
passing yards in the three games that he that Kyler's
been out, and you see him snap a five game
losing streak, granted all of it grain assault because it's

(01:10:40):
against Dallas, So what do you, uh, what do you
actually compare? I should say right after, so momentum exists,
right and for sure, right unquestionable, there's no, there's.

Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
No world get to your.

Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
So what's one of the biggest moments them swings in football?
A special team's touchdown. Yeah, you block a punt, you
recover it in the end zone. You've got the momentum, right, Yeah,
unstoppable momentum. Yeah. The Cardinals immediately drove eleven plays seventy
four yards and scored a touchdown right at the end

(01:11:19):
of the first half, right after the Cowboys block.

Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
But who got the momentum? The special team's got the moment.

Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
Well, Sam Williams came out and was playing defense because
he's also an edge rusher.

Speaker 3 (01:11:32):
On that defense, they still have the old defense over there.

Speaker 2 (01:11:37):
I would again, which is why I would argue having
good players is way more valuable than.

Speaker 3 (01:11:43):
The seven game momentum. Killing drive a seven game, I mean,
no eleven play, that's how you kill momentum. You burn
clock and you get first downs. But I thought, and
you just sit there and crush So.

Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
So maybe it's not momentum. Maybe it's just how football
is played.

Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
Possibly there's science to this.

Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
How about Troy, How about Troy as a winner for
completely laying out As Joe Buck was talking about Jerry
and Steven a smith in the in the owner's booth,
and then Troy also openly laughing at Jerry when Troy said,
or when Joe said, yeah, Jerry says he's already got
a trade. He just gotta can't announce it yet. He'll

(01:12:33):
announce it tomorrow. And then Troy's like, I'd see if
you can't back out of that thing, because this team
is dead paraphrasing, but literally, Troy just laughing, laughing at
his laughing at the team that he helped to carry
to the heights that it achieved thirty years ago. Losers

(01:12:55):
mentioned Bland the it was really curious to see Bland
line up exclusively on the outside for the first time
all season. That it again. I go back to also
another loser, Eberflus, because it still feels like game to game.
We're now running different schemes and different.

Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
Sis.

Speaker 2 (01:13:20):
They're running five man fronts now, which, ironically enough, with
the addition of Quinn Williams, run five man fronts way
more now because you have sixty four million dollars tied
up between Osa Adigizua, Kenny Clark and now Quinn Williams. Right,

(01:13:41):
so now please run five man front So I don't
have to see as much Sam Williams on defense, and
he can focus on blocking punts on special teams. Eberflus
also a loser because the Cardinals were seven for nine
on their first nine third down can versions and most
of them were like third and thirteen because the DA

(01:14:05):
was actually getting was cooking Ibra flues dials up. The
Blitz is able to get I think six, six or
seven sacks as a team, but still couldn't get off
the field on third down. How about the offensive line
mentioned obviously, you know Dax struggles in the game, but
the offensive line the Clayton Adams revenge game, you remembers

(01:14:30):
Campbell was Clayton Adams was the offensive line coach at
Arizona before being tired as the offensive coordinator for Dallas
this year, so he's going up against his former team.
They get destroyed.

Speaker 3 (01:14:42):
Like Camble, like two sacks that game. Thirty nine year
old Klays Campbell still still reckon shop.

Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
How about we saw a flash of Pittsburgh Pickens the taunting. Right,
there is some world where Pickens is literally just holding
it out, like where's the ref? Where's Like I think
he thought he was going.

Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
To be like it was he thought he could play
it off, right, because when you.

Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
Watch the replay, he sticks it out at first and
then goes over to the ref, but it was too late.
I think he probably also said something that the ref
heard right there. It's the old man.

Speaker 3 (01:15:18):
You can't sit there and hold the football at him
and stuff, and.

Speaker 2 (01:15:21):
It's like soft, as Kobe would say.

Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
Soft soft, but you know the rules. Sure, yeah, soft soft.

Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
Brandon Aubrey unfortunately got to go down as a loser,
had a chance to tie the record right after Cam
little cat plus one. Yeah Aubrey, But also, what a
world where we're spoiled that one? The sixty eight yarder
was good for from seventy plus, Like he distance was

(01:15:51):
not the issue. He just pulled it left. But the
spoils of Cowboys fandom where a sixty eight yard goal
and you're upset that a guy missed it is like, oh,
it should be automatic, Like what the hell? Like, No,
that's that's insane, LG. Do you have that clip from
the game. This is the addition of our new addition

(01:16:15):
to the ass column. As the Cowboys were uh staking
a fake late game comeback. Uh Javonte Williams fumble pretty
much ended all of that. But there were multiple hot
mic moments throughout the game, this being one of them.
See if you can hear this.

Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
Well, extra men.

Speaker 5 (01:16:38):
On the rush, Javonte Williams strong tackle on the edge
by the rookie will Johnson. Ball is out and recovered
by a king Davis Cather.

Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
Javante's so ass and Gavanti has some man he had
some good pancakel great.

Speaker 2 (01:17:01):
Yeah, that's early runs of eight nine yards. Was moving
the change. Javonte is not the problem. That's a terribly
ill timed fumble. But really I just played it so
we can further explain why this fine. This last column
is called ass. We also had when the Cards scored

(01:17:21):
that touchdown at the end of the first half after
the block punt, we had the hot mic picking up
two f and easy. This is two f and easy
as they scored, and that reminded me. Do you remember
when the Ravens, it was like four or five years ago,
the Ravens destroyed the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, and
you had I think it was Orlando Brown screaming to

(01:17:45):
the camera, easy money after they scored a touchdown that
was a drop forever we had that for years. It
reminded me. I immediately thought of that as soon as
the hot mic picked that up. Only other loser I
have though Jaden Blue inactive after the fumble last week.

(01:18:05):
We saw, Now, you can't be a bust when you're
a fifth round pick.

Speaker 4 (01:18:11):
I mean it's he was. I mean, he was good
at Texas until he got hurt.

Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
I mean, I still think there's a lot of good
football ahead of him, especially if you're only having him
in in situational downs. I mean, there's a fifth round
running back you're hoping you hit on it. But I
don't think you can call it a bust. But we
did see Malik Davis get activated in place of Jaden
Blue for the game yesterday. Malik Davis was waived today,

(01:18:40):
so I would think that was a one game disciplinary
move to bench Jaden Blue.

Speaker 3 (01:18:46):
Hands on the ball, buddy.

Speaker 2 (01:18:47):
We'll definitely see him again. But now Cowboys. I will
say this, the best thing about this Cowboys game was
that it was on a Monday night and I was
able to enjoy an entire Sunday of NFL football with
no existential dread attached to the Cowboy game hanging over

(01:19:10):
me like a rain cloud following me around.

Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
So you got a good Sunday Monday not so much.

Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
Not so much. Cowboys. Also, if you're looking for silver
linings and signs of something you can hold on to
besides the the needle moving trades are our GM of
the year. Pulled off today. Only one of their next
four games is on a Sunday. You've got Monday Night
against the Raiders. You've got so they're on bye week this.

Speaker 3 (01:19:38):
Week there's gonna be a Monday Night Cowboys Raiders suck
Fest two thousand, ass Fest Access five, Ascipalooza.

Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
Five.

Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
Change that Monday night game.

Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
The only Sunday game is Cowboys Eagles in two weeks
and then they got.

Speaker 3 (01:19:57):
I can't wait to see Geno light them up.

Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
Get ready for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
coming to Jerry World for Thanksgiving. But at least it's
not on a Sunday, so we can enjoy the rest.

Speaker 3 (01:20:12):
Ah.

Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
Speaking of the rest, let's get into the other doings
across Week nine in the NFL. You want to start
with your Niners.

Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
Yeah, so I have not done my niner minute yet.

Speaker 2 (01:20:24):
Greg, Your niner minute is almost as long as my
cow notes.

Speaker 4 (01:20:31):
We win, we win a game that we were supposed
to win, you know, Deathlight Stadium takes away another defensive lineman.
That first round rookie Michael Williams torn acl I cannot
like it is a numb at this point to do
like I think everybody's gonna be injured.

Speaker 3 (01:20:54):
Like I'm just numb. And we keep winning games.

Speaker 4 (01:20:56):
Where I'm like almost I'm almost wanting to lose to
get a better draft pick. I said that before we
even jumped on. But we still three. We're still three
and zero in the division. We can still run, like
we can still run. You know, we're gonna lose a
couple of games, but if we win a couple more

(01:21:16):
division games, we're gonna be in the running to be
have Like I don't think we're gonna have a first
round by we might. I mean, who who's better than
us in the NFC?

Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
So right now, so the Packers, it's helps you up there,
Packers losing like we can we can bucks. Yeah, and
then it's basically your division Seahawks rams. Yeah, and y'all
because the Lions also will get to them in a second.

Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
Yeah, they drop another one.

Speaker 4 (01:21:46):
But I had to like there's a clip of Kittle
where he's saying, how is there like ten different turfs
to pick from? NFL needs to come together, the players
Association needs to come together and be like, if you
got you have to pick.

Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
This turf or do this grass?

Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
Yeah, only option.

Speaker 4 (01:22:05):
You know, you can't make it long like bars like
soldier field to slow down of the game.

Speaker 3 (01:22:10):
You can't do this.

Speaker 4 (01:22:10):
And he's like, that's how every other sport does it,
you know, Like the only other sport that changes it
up is you know, maybe the French Open where they
play on clay. But that's a classic, you.

Speaker 2 (01:22:22):
Know, yeah, yeah, that's.

Speaker 4 (01:22:24):
Been happening forever and it doesn't sit there and blow
people's knees out.

Speaker 3 (01:22:31):
And it just.

Speaker 4 (01:22:32):
Kills me that these billionaire owners are going to cheap
out on grass when they pay tens and millions and
hundreds of millions of dollars to these players and you're
potentially gonna lose them for a year or they'll never
be the same just because you didn't put the investment

(01:22:54):
in the turf and like just make it grass.

Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
Yeah, it's it's I mean, it's maddening, but it also
feels like with all of the evidence we have to
support the argument it should have been done five years ago.
You know, like it's not like it's a new argument
or a new position to throw out there.

Speaker 3 (01:23:17):
It's like it just kills me, man, Like it's I'm
so happy.

Speaker 4 (01:23:21):
Oh yeay, we beat Jackson Dart. Man, we really besides
towards the end of the game, you know, we handled them.

Speaker 2 (01:23:27):
Yeah, basically end up thirty four twenty four point and.

Speaker 3 (01:23:33):
The last touchdown was kind of like this is you know,
a gimme.

Speaker 2 (01:23:37):
That line was only two and a half though. Yeah,
and we both picked the niners. We both want that
my Niners on these wins. Yeah, dude, when you're playing
the Giants and you're only two and a half point favorites,
I'm trying to figure out what I'm missing here?

Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
Was it Jackson dart become Uh, he's an elite company.
He's tied with I think Cam Newton for having a
running in a passing touchdown in five straight games or
something like that. He's he's an elite. Yeah, yeah, that's crazy, right.

Speaker 2 (01:24:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:24:11):
Do you think you think it'd be like Michael Vick?
You think it'd be RG.

Speaker 2 (01:24:14):
Three Dude, imagine imagine Vic though modern like where. Yeah,
there's certain plays, even RG three, that's a good one too.
How about the well we'll talk about the RG.

Speaker 4 (01:24:27):
Three went down on Death Life Stadium, Alex Smith's leg
with Death Light Stadium.

Speaker 2 (01:24:32):
RG three, the same Jaden Daniels getting injured at the
same yard line marker as RG three.

Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
Oh yeah, no, that's a that was all I Washington.

Speaker 2 (01:24:43):
Yeah, that was Washington. Yeah, I I. You have the
Niners right now, still seventy eight percent chance to make
the playoffs. Yeah, you're in the sixth seed, the Lions
seven seed, seventy nine percent chance. But this is the
thing with the NFC. The Bears are five and three.

(01:25:05):
But how much faith do you have that the Bears
are going to pass you in the standings?

Speaker 4 (01:25:11):
I mean, their run game is solid, swift, sat out
and the rookie.

Speaker 2 (01:25:16):
Yeah guy, yeah, the guy had.

Speaker 4 (01:25:20):
What almost one hundred and thirty yard one hundred and
forty yards or something like something ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
So the first three teams out of the playoffs right
now all had varying levels of upset wins this past week.
Bears not really, I guess I would actually call Bears
over the Bengals an upset, just because that game was crazy.
That game was wild. Yeah, we'll get to them in fringe.

(01:25:49):
But Bears, Panthers, and Vikings are the first three teams out,
and then the Cowboys are the fourth team out. Yeah,
but the three of those teams catching y'all or the
Lions in one of those final two spots. I I
don't know. It feels like the NFC is pretty locked
in right now as it stands.

Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
CMC did it like I mean, like I said, like,
I want to get hype in stuff, but when we
keep losing players to season ending injuries, it deflates me
and I cannot stand it when it's we go into
a stadium that we have had horrible injuries already.

Speaker 3 (01:26:32):
There. That's where Nick Bosa toward a CEO. That's where
Oh that's right, I know that's.

Speaker 4 (01:26:37):
We had a uh I think one of our linebackers
back in there, like a Shakir or something like, had
a horrible injury.

Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
That's why it was surprising y'all didn't make a move
today because one like you say the words, you're deflating. Yeah,
it's god. It's kind of like in baseball when you're
right there in the hunt and then your front office
doesn't make any moves at the deadline. Here's there's a
bit of a deflating feeling when you see, well, does
the front office actually believe in us?

Speaker 4 (01:27:07):
We do have Linman coming back, you know, like we
do have Liman coming back. We're not getting Nick bos back,
We're not getting Michel Williams back, and we're not And
I think a lot of people started leveraging us heavier
on a trade because we lost Williams. They're like, you're desperate, now,
that's what I thought, So give us that first round

(01:27:29):
or not the second rounder. Yeah, you know, and we
were like, nah, we're not gonna do that. We're like,
we build from our drafts. But I would say, would
have love seeing some Quincy Williams Quinn Williams on our team, yeah, wow.

Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
Or even I wonder if if.

Speaker 4 (01:27:46):
I think they just I just I think they if
y'all had their price them, oh for sure, yeah, because
they thought they had the leverage. But with the easy
schedule and the fact that we're three and O are
already in the conference, I think Shanahan is just like,
we'll ride out mortgage any of our future exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:28:06):
Yeah, which I think you could argue is probably the
right move. But I do wonder if the Michael Williams
injury had come down a week earlier, if y'all wouldn't
have gotten involved in like the Jaden Phillips, like you
would have made a move like that like the Eagles did,
giving up maybe not a first or second rounder, but
a third or fourth, yeah, to get a guy that's

(01:28:27):
better than one of these seven or sixth round flyer guys,
but not quite the impact of someone like Quinnin Williams, the.

Speaker 4 (01:28:34):
Guy that we got from New England. I forget, I
forget his name because we only gave up a sixth rounder.

Speaker 2 (01:28:41):
For him, Oh yeah, two weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (01:28:44):
Yeah, had an immediate impact. I think he had a
second and a half. And so it's like, I think
we got that guy. We were gonna get.

Speaker 4 (01:28:53):
Some of our interier like uh rookies that we drafted
in the second round in the first round, we're gonna
get those guys back. Then we're gonna get huffed back
and then like so we're gonna get healthier. And that's
what I think they looked at. Sure what I loved.
I wanted to know. I wish they could make it

(01:29:16):
public what was offered. Oh, now that was like we
would have gotten back Crosby, but they wanted three first
round picks.

Speaker 3 (01:29:23):
And I'm like, yeah, go f yourself, you know, Oh
I'm kidding because a we were already in caproom hell.
You know, like we've already spent so much money.

Speaker 2 (01:29:36):
But do you have sixty four million tied up between
three interior defensive linemen, because I think that is probably
more cap hell than having space available, because that's just stupid.
I mean, Kenny Clark, you are now gonna the.

Speaker 4 (01:29:50):
One takeaway I will put Speaking of cornerbacks, DeAndre Lenore,
we got to start putting up there in the top three.
His PFF rating and his stats, he's number one in
a lot of categories.

Speaker 2 (01:30:05):
Yes, he's a stud.

Speaker 3 (01:30:07):
Yeah, he is a top three, shut down corner like
a Sauce gardener. They got traded to Hindy, so start
believing in them again.

Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
You know, that's a lot of capital for Sauce. I
love Sauce. Yeah, and especially you've got him signed to
the long term deal. The Jets locked him into it,
so the Colts don't have to negotiate or any of
They've got him now for four years. After this. But
if the Micah Parsons trade was an underpay, I think

(01:30:43):
that tells me the Sauce Gardener trade is an overpay
because I don't I don't think Micah and Sauce are
on the same level of compensation. If you're talking about
them being available in a trade.

Speaker 4 (01:30:54):
I think they saw what they lacked. Yeah, that's a
great It was like they did not have that shut
down corner and they are in there with compete with C. J. Stroud,
who was going on a you know, did they win
this week or were they on by which one colts
the Houston?

Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
Uh? They ended they lost a squeaker to Denver.

Speaker 4 (01:31:15):
That's right, Yeah, that one's Denver. He's starting to catch
his stride again. Yeah, let's burn through the rest of
the league here. We both went three and two in
our picks. We'll burn through those first. I picked Dallas,
you picked Cardinals. Took that one. Both took the Niners.
I took Bills, you took the Chiefs. I won that one.

(01:31:37):
I took Steelers. You're riding if only they had had
Sauce Gardner Steelers over the Colts.

Speaker 3 (01:31:45):
I will tell you. I'll tell you.

Speaker 2 (01:31:47):
Vikings the last one you had, right, I took the
Dan Campbell's and Vikings beat the Lions.

Speaker 4 (01:31:53):
I figure the defense on that one was going to be, like,
Vikings have a top five defense, Yeah, you.

Speaker 2 (01:31:59):
Know, just like they did last year, and I can
JJ showed out.

Speaker 3 (01:32:03):
JJ showed out.

Speaker 2 (01:32:04):
Might be might be back in a U in at
least a disruptive position, because again they still they're The
Vikings are sitting last in the NFC North right now,
which sounds four and four? Ye yeah, we'll start with that.
Vikings beat the Lions twenty seven to twenty four. I

(01:32:26):
didn't have to worry about covering an eight and a
half point spread like the Lions were favored. What the
hell was I thinking? Every time I picked Dan Campbell
they've lost. Every time I picked against them, they've won.
So I take that for what it's worth. If you
want to follow a trend. Vikings uh now still last

(01:32:49):
in the division, but uh four, Vikings are way more
scary than the Bears are in my opinion.

Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
What is it? Five and four? The Lions five three?

Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
Uh live five and three?

Speaker 3 (01:33:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:33:02):
Yeah, tied with the Bears record wise, but own the tiebreaker.

Speaker 3 (01:33:06):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
The biggest shock of the day LG. I've got we
have video for this one. The Panthers almost blew it
because of Rico Dowdell's celebration.

Speaker 3 (01:33:18):
I was gonna save this for lightning round.

Speaker 2 (01:33:19):
Okay, I had had ahead. Uh. Panthers end up beating
the Packers sixteen to thirteen, but this was why the
Panthers were stuck at thirteen and needed a game winning
field goal. Difference between the two Palatants to about a.

Speaker 3 (01:33:37):
Yard difference in this area in the field.

Speaker 2 (01:33:38):
So great, it's down right back into the game at
third get in the end showing heads shacond of the day,
and the Panthers extend the lead. Two pumps, two pups,
two pumps, only two pumps. But apparently that's it up
for the flag. Can't peel sketch.

Speaker 4 (01:33:59):
It was two bold greg. Oh, let's not forget that.
Those helmets look like nut sacks. Please don't ever wear
them again.

Speaker 2 (01:34:06):
Awful? Yeah, which is worse the Steelers nineteen twenty eight
throwbacks they wore last week?

Speaker 3 (01:34:12):
Oh god?

Speaker 4 (01:34:13):
Or those those just the helmet alone, because I'm looking
at the helmet the most.

Speaker 2 (01:34:18):
Also, what's his name, uh, dob Bobbs.

Speaker 3 (01:34:21):
Yeah, yeah, he had a stack on his head.

Speaker 2 (01:34:24):
Yeah, he looked like he looked like Randy with the Willburrow.

Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
Whoever you ever decided that was a good idea.

Speaker 2 (01:34:30):
You know, it's not good.

Speaker 3 (01:34:32):
Get fired, just you know, wear.

Speaker 2 (01:34:34):
Leather helmets because that would be better than wearing those
as an awful look. But all jokes aside.

Speaker 4 (01:34:41):
So we go dash so WECo daddle after the game.
From my understanding everything I've learned, we go. We go
over stuff like this every week in the meeting room.
I definitely thought you were supposed to get two pumps.
Hopefully I don't get fined.

Speaker 2 (01:34:57):
No, he's gonna get fined in the same way it
was the Cowboys offensive lineman.

Speaker 3 (01:35:03):
Did like the rest know about the King spill keen
peel joke or they're just like, oh, that was sexual.

Speaker 2 (01:35:08):
So I think it's interesting because like three weeks ago,
the Cowboys offensive lineman Nate Thomas did this, you remember,
and we had the we had the footage of it
from the All twenty two's. That's the first time I
had seen.

Speaker 3 (01:35:26):
It completely like where everybody was involved in it, right,
like the Rico.

Speaker 2 (01:35:30):
It feels like if you're doing it, maybe I sap
to the side. If You're fine, but like to do
it all choreographed with where it was and there's literally
like look at that.

Speaker 4 (01:35:41):
It was tupon one dude, We're good, but like, here's
the thing, man, It's like, what was it when Dave
Chappelle said, like they're letting the Yin Yang Twins say
Ski Ski skeet on the radio.

Speaker 3 (01:35:54):
Yeah, It's like it's like, do they know what they
that might have just broke our fcs they did.

Speaker 4 (01:36:01):
They change it when they figured it out. But it's
the same thing with the CD lamb the old I'm like,
you know what that's from.

Speaker 3 (01:36:10):
It's from an old movie called Kids and You're smelling
Volva Good Lord.

Speaker 2 (01:36:17):
I'm not even gonna say the quote now because it
still makes me feel there. It is a lot of scotch, harmony, carmine.

Speaker 4 (01:36:26):
And I'm like everybody was doing it. Everybody was doing it.
It's like you're basically.

Speaker 3 (01:36:30):
Saying you.

Speaker 2 (01:36:32):
Yeah to the other teams.

Speaker 3 (01:36:33):
Yep, yep, yeah yeah, and it smells good.

Speaker 2 (01:36:38):
Well, it smells like butterscotch landing, but that's right. Uh yeah.
Panthers five and four Yeah, with winds over sneaky, sneaky,
very sneaky.

Speaker 3 (01:36:50):
Like oh, man, I gotta start Rico Dadle.

Speaker 2 (01:36:54):
Who do you trust more? The Panthers are the Vikings?

Speaker 4 (01:36:57):
Uh, division wise, I almost think I want to go
with Panther.

Speaker 2 (01:37:04):
Because of who they're had. Yeah, because they're not having
to go up against the NFC North exactly. Yeah, well
that's why. Honestly, that's why.

Speaker 4 (01:37:12):
The either defenses like they shut down the Packers nutsecks.

Speaker 2 (01:37:17):
So if you yes, I that is not the hospital.
When you walk into a hospital, sir, they refer to
that groat helmets is way better.

Speaker 3 (01:37:33):
I'm gonna start learning some fifty sling, you know. I
think the Panthers might be they you.

Speaker 2 (01:37:40):
Know, those boys from Carolina, Boys from Carolina traveling up
to take on the bees Knees Chicago Bear.

Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
But nah, I think Rico Man, he is he is
RB one material right now.

Speaker 2 (01:37:56):
I think from a Niners perspective or a Lion's perspective
at that, the Lions sitting in the last playoff spot, yeah,
the Bears and Vikings being two of the three teams
right behind them, that is a way more potential for vulnerability.

Speaker 3 (01:38:13):
And upset, right, I wonder how many cos.

Speaker 2 (01:38:15):
But the Panthers kind of sliding in between those two teams,
and potentially we might end up seeing the Panthers as
a seventh seed and these NFC North teams beating up
on each other and eliminating themselves from a playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:38:30):
Throw the keep it in a low score game, yep,
killing these high scoring offenses. You know, that's how you
beat good teams, you know for sure, Like that's how
you take away their game plan because now if they
go and pass heavy three and out, you're putting a
tired defense right back on the right back.

Speaker 3 (01:38:51):
On the field.

Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
Also, from a Cowboys perspective, if you are still believing
that a playoff run, that's correct if you art well.
And this is why, if you are still believing in
a potential Cowboys playoff run, they've already lost to the
Bears and Panthers. So you don't own those tie breakers.
It's you gotta somehow you've got.

Speaker 3 (01:39:12):
Are you talking about the Cowboys in playoffs?

Speaker 2 (01:39:14):
No, just talking about off playoff, just talking about playoff positioning,
not Cowboys. Uh in the ground? Oh, the Rams put
the Saints to bed thirty four to ten. Rams beat
the Saints. Not much to say about their Rams securely
in a playoff.

Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
Position, almost he avoided injury.

Speaker 2 (01:39:36):
He did what was another rib issue? Right? It was
a nice touchdown catch he had, though fallen. I thought
it looked out of bounds everything.

Speaker 4 (01:39:44):
I think he's gonna stick to his guns and retire
before thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:39:47):
You know, is he gonna stick to his guns and
go play basketball in Europe like he said he was
gonna do, go play for a Eurolite. I would love.
I mean, that'd be a great story, like go watching
him play for Olympiakos or someone in Greek or somewhere
or hell, Wimby's old team, the Metros Sunday night or no,
it wasn't. It was Sunday afternoon. It was the Tones

(01:40:08):
Rooms and Nance game. Bill's beat the Chiefs twenty eight
twenty one. Chiefs tried to come back, but Bill.

Speaker 4 (01:40:15):
So, I'm so sick of Josh Allen's sneaky like taking
James Cooks's touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (01:40:19):
Oh yeah, quit the touch push.

Speaker 4 (01:40:21):
You got one of the he had the most varied
hours last year and I drafted him.

Speaker 2 (01:40:28):
Oh there's the real reason, and this in.

Speaker 4 (01:40:30):
Our sports cave league, and we'll get to the why
I did not win this week. I'm dying. I'm like
I think I might be out of the playoffs right now.

Speaker 2 (01:40:40):
Playoffs play there it is again, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:40:42):
But oh man, we'll talk more about that one. But yeah,
Jared Allen with the touch push, let's get rid of it, please.

Speaker 2 (01:40:49):
Well this is what this is exactly. This is what
the Bills do. They beat the Chiefs in the regular
season and they lose to them in the playoffs. I mean,
I don't think.

Speaker 3 (01:40:57):
Maybe they needed not piss them off.

Speaker 2 (01:40:59):
That was about the amount of times that they beat
The amount of times they beat the Chiefs in the
regular season has no bearing whatsoever on what happens in
the postseason. I mean, watching that game Sunday afternoon, I
still would pick the Chiefs in a playoff game in
Buffalo and Kansas.

Speaker 4 (01:41:20):
City when they got Taylor Swift in the stands and
the refs helping them out.

Speaker 2 (01:41:24):
Look, everyone's a swifty. Other contenders Eagles on by yea. So,
now that the trading deadline has come and passed, he's
loyalty in Philly. They didn't move aj But you mentioned
it before the show, or maybe it was at the beginning.

(01:41:45):
How the contenders category has changed at all, if at
all based on the trade deadline today. So the teams
I had the way I've been doing it. If you
are under plus one thousand in Super Bowl odds, then
you're a contender. That's that's the barometer we've been using.

(01:42:06):
So if you are less than a ten to one,
they weren't this morning. Ah so the sauce gardener trade
has now moved them up onto They are back to
plus one thousand in Super Bowl on zones. Despite the

(01:42:27):
loss to the Steelers twenty seven to twenty on Sunday,
that we might that was the Crystal School. We might
be pretty yeah that was that was or whatever. That
last one was called the Dial of Destiny or whatever.
We might be moving having to move the Colts back
into the contender category, but they did lose to the

(01:42:48):
Steelers twenty seven to twenty. Elsewhere in the playoff category,
we'll burn through. These Chargers played with their food beat
the Titans twenty seven to twenty. The Chargers might be
the team I feel like I know the least about
like in terms of that's that happens with a lot.

Speaker 4 (01:43:07):
Of West Coast I mean, the Rams and the Niners
are dominating the West Coast talk. But I feel this
Seattle on the friends.

Speaker 3 (01:43:14):
But like I feel like I know what Seattle is
though when you talk AFC, like I feel.

Speaker 2 (01:43:17):
Like I know what the Rams are. I have no
idea what the Chargers are.

Speaker 3 (01:43:20):
Weak are they aff was Chargers, Chiefs, Raiders, Raiders and
Denver yep, yeah, so I mean they're the least talked about,
like the fan base.

Speaker 4 (01:43:33):
That's that's what killed the Chargers from staying in San Diego,
one of the most beautiful cities in the world, is
because no one showed up to their games. I went
to a diner. I went to a Denver Chargers game
before they moved to LA and it was seventy five
Denver fans.

Speaker 3 (01:43:52):
You know. But like Herbert is just too good, Harball's
too good of a coach. You know.

Speaker 4 (01:44:02):
They had a lot of injuries on defense and at
running back. Vadel Money Vedel did not perform this week because,
like you said, they're playing with the food.

Speaker 3 (01:44:14):
They didn't really need them.

Speaker 4 (01:44:16):
They got a lot of weapons, man, and they're gonna
put up points on offense when they need to.

Speaker 2 (01:44:21):
I fear that they might be the team that falls
out of the playoffs when the Chiefs moved. Because the
Chiefs still have the best Super Bowl odds. But they're
the first team out of the playoffs in the AFC
right now, and I think it's gonna because right now
it's Chargers and Jaguars that I think are actually pretty
There's some similarities there in terms of not knowing what

(01:44:43):
to expect week to week. But one of the Chiefs
are going to pass one of those two teams, and
it's probably gonna be the Chargers because they have the
division matchups to fall back on. Speaking of playing with
your food, good lord, the Pats squeaked out a in
against the Falcons twenty four to twenty three.

Speaker 3 (01:45:03):
And they're like, Falcons are hit or miss.

Speaker 2 (01:45:05):
So hit her.

Speaker 4 (01:45:06):
I mean they get the Bills, they beat That's right.
They crushed us on defense. Man, we didn't know what
to do. And they still have the best running back
in the game.

Speaker 3 (01:45:17):
When like.

Speaker 4 (01:45:19):
With the ability he's in, Greg London absolutely went off him.
Like when him and Pinnix get together and they sit there,
it's like a Burrow Chase dynamic. Kyle Pitts put him
out the pasture. Yeah, Like it's just there.

Speaker 3 (01:45:39):
The need consistency, They need a top tier coach, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:45:43):
Yeah, And they're still I feel kind of like they're
in the same boat as the Cardinals almost, where it's
there are pieces that you really like, and when they
are firing in Unison, they can beat damn near or
anybody in the league, or at least play them like
they did the Pats, where it's a one possession, one

(01:46:04):
point game, but still not anywhere close to getting really
into you know, I wouldn't even put them in the
fringe category right now, probably, but depending on who they play.
Broncos we mentioned Broncos get a game winning phild goal
beat the Texans eighteen to fifteen. It feels like.

Speaker 3 (01:46:27):
They're starting to un least r J Harvey a little
bit more.

Speaker 2 (01:46:30):
Yeah, and you know, that was a seemingly expected to
be a big weapon for them, a big part of
their offense that is now starting to show signs of
life to me. This game, two of the best defenses,
if not the best two defenses in the league going
up against each other. The over the total points for

(01:46:51):
this game was it was under what was under significantly
under fifty I think it, No, it was under forty.
It was like thirty eight and a half. What was
the total eighteen thirty three thirty three points were scored
in that game. Yeah, that's a defensive battle and seven

(01:47:12):
and two Broncos end up coming out on top. But
more so it feels like that's a game the Texans
had to have because Ravens coming on strong with Lamar back,
Ravens now have the same record as the Texans, And
I mentioned those are your three teams right out of
the playoffs in the AFC, Chiefs, Texans, and Ravens. You

(01:47:34):
feel really confident the Chiefs are going to get in there,
and you kind of could have seen a pathway for
either the Texans or the Ravens to climb back into
it or at least into making it close by the
end of the season. But the Texans feel like especially
with the did you see the CJ. Stroud concussion? Oh yeah,
the two a hand start, Yeah, that you never they

(01:47:57):
never want to see the.

Speaker 4 (01:47:58):
Eight slides man, like, yeah, got it? Like these quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (01:48:02):
Dak did it a couple of times last night where
I thought, dude, you should have got you should have
just gotten lit up like.

Speaker 4 (01:48:07):
That, and I think, well, I think one of the
car it was Buddha Baker. He went over and talked
to him. It was like like, what do you want
me to do? I was like, I can't sit there
and let you get three extra yards.

Speaker 3 (01:48:17):
You know, when we're sitting here playing. Yeah, it was
exactly when we're exactly their first get first down. He's like,
you got to start. It's got to be a five
yard penalty for a late slide. See or I.

Speaker 2 (01:48:31):
Don't think I disagree. There's gotta be some kind of repercussion.

Speaker 4 (01:48:34):
You can't sit there and do a late slide and
then get your head banged off the thing and then
you throw a flag and you're like, I can't pull up.
You know, I'm going full speed. There's no way to
contort my body. It's gonna injure me. What if this
person is doing a late slide?

Speaker 2 (01:48:55):
What if instead of penalizing late slides, you just ban lighting.

Speaker 3 (01:49:01):
How do you do that?

Speaker 2 (01:49:03):
Well, just tell these guys like stop running, like play like,
don't put it in, because then how do you determine
what's a late slide? You know what I'm saying. I'm
trying to think, because there's gonna be so.

Speaker 3 (01:49:16):
If you if you are within a yard, within a yard.

Speaker 2 (01:49:20):
Saying that's where I don't know how you litigate that
in real time. It's as said, it's going to be
at the discretion of the refs, right, And that's the
part I had.

Speaker 4 (01:49:33):
And that's where the coaches come in. Like an old
clip of Kylee Shanahan, watch this, Kittle's going go on
out route, they're gonna hold them, and he's literally tell
the ref and boom, happen. Hold the ref those the flag. Yeah,
because he's seen it already and they're not calling it.
So he brings it to their attention. And if they
sit there and.

Speaker 3 (01:49:53):
Review like they do every year, all these things, all
these things, they will know what will late sliders.

Speaker 4 (01:50:01):
It's like it's going to be cautionary, is going to
be at certain times.

Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
Well, and you go around to each team in training camp,
show them and be like the point of emphasis like
they always put exactly, I agree with you it is.
It feels like you have to you have to protect
the guys from putting themselves in that kind of position.

(01:50:27):
I just creating that gray area of what is and
isn't a late slide. I mean, because we're going to
see more guys get laid.

Speaker 4 (01:50:35):
The NFL really wants to cut down on CTE. I don't,
but if they do the optics wise they do.

Speaker 2 (01:50:42):
That's why I think it would be better for them
optics wise to just say no more sliding.

Speaker 3 (01:50:47):
You either can't do that, like what, no more scrambling?

Speaker 2 (01:50:50):
No, you're a foot outside of the pocket. You are
a football player normal to everybody else. They won't ever
do this because of the investment in the quarterback position.
But it just feels like we're gonna see more and more. Well,
even it wasn't a late slide, but the catastrophic injury
to Jaden Daniels as well, the dislocated.

Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
Elbow that was that was just him putting his arm
down right just to try to hold his weight, which
is attack. Do you know anything on sliding? Keep your
arms up?

Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
Yeah, Commis lose that game thirty eight to fourteen. Seahawks
continue to roll. I've got some fun Seahawks audio to
close out the That's how we're closing today's episode. We're
not the only ones that have fun pronouncing wide receivers
names in the league. You remember we had Egbuca with

(01:51:42):
with Gronk, we got a couple of radio legends trying
to pronounce jsn's name, and then elsewhere Playoffs category Jaguars
sneak by the Raiders again like the Chargers. I don't
know what to make of the Jaguars, though Brock Bowers
was so back. I don't think Yeah, I don't think

(01:52:03):
it helped us win. I think we have him, I
don't remember. And then Buccaneers were on by elsewhere the
fringe category. Ravens beat the Dolphins twenty eight to six.
And that Bears Bengals crazy ass game. Yeah, I had
flipped away from it and there were twenty one more
points scored. Yeah, by the time I even realized.

Speaker 4 (01:52:24):
Flaco, he doesn't have Aaron Rodgers' arm for that Hail Mary.
But man, how do you let that guy rumble and
tumble into the end zone?

Speaker 3 (01:52:33):
Loveland, Like, I just don't kid it.

Speaker 2 (01:52:36):
Man, you know, I think there's going to be a
lot of Bears fans, Yeah, all the three miss tackles
on that final play, there's gonna be a lot of
Bears fans that for a decade talk themselves into the
fact that Loveland was the better pick than Tyler Warren.
I know, I know, but this is this was that
was one of those days, right, See told you, told

(01:52:57):
you Loveland was the right choice.

Speaker 3 (01:52:58):
Which one got picked first?

Speaker 2 (01:53:00):
Loveling he went before Warren. Surprisingly, I know, uh you
got anything else from the Sunday before we do the
Lightning round, Get out of here.

Speaker 4 (01:53:09):
Shout out to Superchat Boyce, Finish Month, two dollars, Finish
Mafia Forever.

Speaker 2 (01:53:14):
Yes, sir Stars win four to three led by the Fins.
It was Miko Ranton and Bobblehead night.

Speaker 4 (01:53:20):
Really yeah, March. He just wanted to see the animation.
The animation is fun. Let's keep it going, man, Let's
see see how much we can get this cup filled.

Speaker 2 (01:53:31):
Yeah we should uh, we shouldn't tell you that animation
is not breaking the technology like when Walt Disney did it.
But please please look to it. Look to see that
cup get full. No, thank you Mark, thank you Royce,
thank you Zeb for the super Chats as always if
you missed the first part of the show. We will
be making our first purchase as a collective crew with

(01:53:55):
the super Chats getting some getting a new microphone to
add to the possibilities here on the sports k. But
with that, LG, let's do some lightning round. Get out
of here tonight. There's no easy way to put this,
so I'm just gonna say it. If you have enough
money to clone your dog, maybe maybe we should.

Speaker 3 (01:54:21):
Uh, like the dog would attack me? Dude, did you did.

Speaker 2 (01:54:24):
You not see the story? No, Tom Brady cloned his dog.
Oh buddy, the current dog he has now is a
clone of his dog that died in twenty twenty three.
He took a blood sample of it. And he's a
Believe it or not, Tom Brady's an investor in technology
that clones things because he's wanting to probably clone himself.

Speaker 3 (01:54:46):
But h I was just watching that Welcome to Jury
and I'm like.

Speaker 2 (01:54:51):
Oh, the new It. Yeah, show like thumbs up, thumbs down, sideways,
and that's kind of what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (01:54:57):
Yeah, I've heard, but yeah, Like it's definitely graphic a
lot of the vagina.

Speaker 2 (01:55:03):
Yeah, there's there's the scientific. Yeah, I can deal with
the graphic uh sexual side, but graphic violence that's where
the whole It's like, that's where the woke liberal literally comes.
It's like, ah, let me see any of that.

Speaker 4 (01:55:22):
Yeah, hit me LG. So this was before because I
know they were on by This.

Speaker 3 (01:55:29):
Was before.

Speaker 4 (01:55:31):
The Stellar game. One of the This was a Hall
of Famer game for Christian McCaffrey. We got Christian McCaffrey
versus Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry put together total yards yeah,
nine and eighty one two nine eighty seven, total touchdown

(01:55:53):
six to eight yards per carry, three point five to
four point five catches fifty three to fumbles one to three.

Speaker 2 (01:56:04):
Are all three of those probably Derrick Henry, like they
got one. Look it is.

Speaker 3 (01:56:11):
I will I will tell you this thing about what
he put up this week.

Speaker 2 (01:56:15):
The McCaffrey numbers are fun, But the bigger story to
me is how down, say, like Saquon's not even on
pace for a thousand yards in a seventeen game season.
Now they just have.

Speaker 3 (01:56:26):
The worst Super Bowl slumps.

Speaker 4 (01:56:29):
You know it does the last the last Super Bowl
Super Bowl they won, they fired their head coach, didn't
they like right after.

Speaker 2 (01:56:38):
Year and a half after Yeah, But I still when
if we go back and listen to the episode where
we were reviewing or predicting division outcomes, I don't think
it was necessarily talked about enough that the Eagles replaced
their entire coaching staff except for Sirianni like It. New coordinators,

(01:56:59):
new offensive coordinat, new defensive coordinator. I believe new special
teams got like it's a whole new underling staff under Syrianni.
I do think that in NFL, when the margins are
so small, there is a there is a lot of
towards success being driven by continuity among your coaching staff.

(01:57:19):
Hit me, LG, I know you will appreciate this number.
Thirty one and a half million. What's that the peak
viewership during Game seven of that World Series, oh, Saturday night,
thirty one and a half it's the It's the most

(01:57:43):
since twenty seventeen. Wow, so not record records, but the
most in almost a decade.

Speaker 3 (01:57:51):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:57:51):
And of course immediately people were like, well, what did
what Game seven of that NBA Finals do last year? Well,
Game seven of the baseball average twenty five point nine million.
Game seven of the NBA Finals last year sixteen point
four million. But we all knew Halliburton was out. Yeah,
it would have been higher if Halliburton had been if

(01:58:12):
he hadn't been.

Speaker 3 (01:58:13):
As still, American baseball.

Speaker 2 (01:58:15):
Is awesome, like the numbers. That's why anytime someone starts
to decry the death of baseball, look at the regional viewership,
Look at the how many sports are giving out four
hundred seven hundred million dollar contracts. Yeah, baseball is just fine.

Speaker 4 (01:58:30):
Yeah, because because they get to play eighty, like eighty
plus games at home, So the stadiums are making money.
Hands over fit, that's right, you know, So.

Speaker 3 (01:58:41):
Hit me LG.

Speaker 4 (01:58:43):
We have the sports game Fantasy Football Live update from
week nine. Well, the captain was creaming up to Bickerstraw
until Lamb decided to drop that ball. I got beat
by one thirty three to one twenty three. Is this
I was down by six sixty or is doing seventy

(01:59:05):
points with three players trade McBride, Sam Darnold and CD Lamb.

Speaker 2 (01:59:10):
Is this officially a losing streak? Now?

Speaker 3 (01:59:13):
No, it is losing.

Speaker 4 (01:59:13):
I'm four and five, man, I am. I'm struggling, and
it's not because lack of points. I'm like one of
the top league's top leader in points. I'm just playing
everybody's best game, which happens in fantasy football.

Speaker 3 (01:59:27):
Let me go, Let me just get that out of
the way.

Speaker 4 (01:59:30):
James Gang lost to Old King Henry Hampton's ninety five
to a ninety. Another squeaker Wild Car drops another one
to Papaya FC with a dominant performance one sixty over
ninety five.

Speaker 2 (01:59:41):
Here, hold on, I'm having to send in my six
digit verification code because I haven't signed into the Yahoo
website in two weeks.

Speaker 4 (01:59:50):
Team Momentumers gathers the Momentum and kills the chairman.

Speaker 2 (01:59:54):
Me out, hey, that's back to back. Oh wait, that's me. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:59:57):
The pussy's lost, Eli zuber So bringing up the bag
losing to the AI overlords one o three to ninety five.

Speaker 2 (02:00:07):
What the hell? Zeb was this payback? Because I didn't
get your text about parking at the.

Speaker 4 (02:00:12):
House and eight off all our bush decide to do
nasty things to Tulsa State Fair one thirteen to one
to seventy.

Speaker 3 (02:00:21):
Eighth, Poor Tulsa. This is where we get in the
crunch time, ladies.

Speaker 2 (02:00:26):
How many teams make the playoffs? Six out of our twelve? Yeah,
first two by and right now, there are three teams
that are six and three, There are three teams that
are five and four, and there are four teams that
are four and five. So what is that ten out
of the twelve are all within two games of each other.

Speaker 4 (02:00:49):
We're all striking distance. Yeah, I'm two games like this
one the baker Mayfield scoring one point. You know, like
you can just ceedee lamb not being in there and
for the record four games.

Speaker 2 (02:01:04):
The team, the team that scored the most total points.

Speaker 3 (02:01:07):
Yeah it's the Brigger Shop.

Speaker 2 (02:01:11):
No, no, no, no, no, oh.

Speaker 3 (02:01:13):
It is it is.

Speaker 4 (02:01:14):
Yeah, it's you guys got Jamar Chase, but we and
you and you have Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 3 (02:01:19):
Jonathan Taylor was the good pick up, a good pickup.

Speaker 2 (02:01:23):
That was the great one. Oh it's fine. You don't
need to see me. You don't need to just throw
it on cap. I'll do one more and we'll get
out of here.

Speaker 3 (02:01:32):
Oh man, all right, hit him?

Speaker 2 (02:01:34):
Uh one. College Basketball's back. Watched some of that last night.
Absolutely spectacular. Oh did you lose it? Now? Too spectacular.
Two live golf switching to seventy two holes finally, although
live is called live because that's the Roman numeral for

(02:01:59):
fifty four, which is how many holes they used to play,
so there's no consistency. But why not. It's Saudi goff.
I'm gonna need this just as a gift. Yeah, there
we go as a reaction gift. And now, on a
lighter note, we did have a we did have a
fairly significant death here in the city. It's a name

(02:02:23):
that's not gonna jump out or mean anything. This is
even better that you're doing just a reaction video so
that I don't have to be on camera as I'm
talking about it. When we first started doing working for
the PR firm here in town, most of our clients
were riverwalk restaurants, but local like Bohannon's, the steakhouse Battalion

(02:02:47):
when they opened Maverick in Southtown when they opened, but
the one that was kind of the I wouldn't say
above the rest of them, but the one that you
could tell had generational impact on the city's culinary scene,

(02:03:08):
like Bohannon's is probably the closest to it, but Biga
on the Banks and Chef Bruce and Pernie. When we
met all of them, that was like for it was
like meeting culinary royalty here and like the amount like
spectacular and it's you've got the it's it's it's Riverwalk

(02:03:32):
dining for locals. It's it's actually it's actually good. It's
not tourist food. It's actually high quality, uh, well thought out,
well developed. It's an amazing program led by you know,
Chef Bruce h Auden as the chef. That's a guy
who has you know, mentored so many great chefs here

(02:03:53):
in our city. And I know this might not mean
like a lot to a lot of people, but the
culinary scene in San Antonio over the last fifteen almost
twenty years now has grown so so so had exactly
and all so much of that goes back to chef

(02:04:14):
Bruce and Pernie. Pernie, she was the co owner of
Biga on the Banks, and she was the one that
when we did their PR and would you know, she
was the connection. She was the you know, Bruce was
the chef. She was the you know, she dealt with
the PR firm. Well, Bruce could focus on the program

(02:04:37):
she's set up. He's knocking them down. Yeah, And news
came out over the weekend that Pernie unfortunately passed away.
They're having a memorial this Sunday at Bega. But just
one of those one of those names in the city
that might not mean anything to you when you hear it,

(02:04:58):
but you have no idea the impact that one individual
had on the city. And not just the not just
the you know, fine dining or culinary or snooty crap
like that, but uh, you know.

Speaker 3 (02:05:14):
That is elevated cuisine.

Speaker 2 (02:05:16):
Years of donations to Saint Philip's culinary program. Yeah, like
years of donations to programs that were allowing people from
backgrounds that wouldn't have the opportunity to get involved in
that world, like she did so much to get people

(02:05:37):
introduced to it that might not have ever had the
resources to have that as a as an opportunity. So
the city lost a really, really really big one last week.
And it's again a name that might not mean anything
to you, but you know, the culinary scene here would
be very, very, very different if it wasn't for Pernie co,

(02:06:00):
owner of Big on the Bank. So I definitely wanted
to mention that one. And then before I lose it
going anymore nostalgic, let's end with a stupid radio clip,
shall we. So radio legends Mike Francessa and mad Dog
do Mike? Does Mike and mad Dog mean anything New

(02:06:21):
York w f A. N course, the guys that for
the most part single handedly or were very very early
in creating what is talk radio now. You know us
sitting here doing this, Mike and mad Dog doing it
on the fan in the early nineties, maybe even late
eighties as a full full sports station in America's biggest

(02:06:46):
city obviously developed cult following. Over the years, they've split,
they had their differences, they've come back, they've split again.
I think, you know, they continue to weave back and forth.
That tends to happen with radio guys, or so I hear.
But both of them had. Both of them share a trait,

(02:07:08):
and that's never being able to properly announce guy's names.
And one of the ones this year that has tripped
up a lot of people is rock Wall DFW's own
Jackson Smith and Jigba. Yeah, tell me which one of
these two you think is closer because they're both so bad.

(02:07:31):
I don't even know who to say.

Speaker 3 (02:07:33):
Did it better?

Speaker 5 (02:07:36):
Sam's having a really good year, well touchdowns, floor into
steps Smith.

Speaker 2 (02:07:45):
You know, it's amazing how high state, you know. So
he starts to He's like Smith and then he realizeses
like crap. I don't know how to say that. It's
amazing all these Ohio states. So I'm going to think
about it for a second, try to figure it out.

Speaker 3 (02:08:00):
Smith.

Speaker 2 (02:08:01):
Uh. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:08:08):
The Seahawks blocked the forty eight yard field goals four
minutes left, which would have put the Patch up six.
That was a big play in this game, Smith played
well and his receivers metcalf caught ten Jackson Smith and
good Juba the kid in Ohio State he caught twelve
more and the Seattle team is two and oh they
get Miami next week.

Speaker 2 (02:08:28):
I think Francissa did it better than bad Dog.

Speaker 3 (02:08:31):
That just know that that was that was That was
a couple of years ago too.

Speaker 2 (02:08:35):
Yeah, that's been awful announcing has been holding onto.

Speaker 3 (02:08:39):
That becoming the top five receiver.

Speaker 2 (02:08:42):
Man like Francis said, Ohio state wide receivers.

Speaker 3 (02:08:48):
Ohio Lui receivers always bank on him and Juba well.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
