From the theme park capital of theWorld, Orlando, Florida. This is
the Theme Park Podcast. Wait podcast, this radio? Why does everything got
to be so messy on this station? Anyway? Here's your hosts, Dickerman,
Jimmy d and Scott Harris. Heythere, and welcome to the Theme
(00:23):
Park Podcast. Dickerman. Here, there's Jimmy D. What's up Bellas and
Scott Harris. Welcome back to theLand of Living Deckerman. What do you
mean by that particular phrase there, because you are the proud owner. I
can't believe you did this of bothan Incredi pass and a pirate pass annual
(00:48):
pass at Walt Disney World Resorts. That's six annual passes three people. First,
first, there's only three in myhousehold, so I don't need both.
And I could not have one ofthose, much less six of those.
Yeah, I was surprised when wewere texting you, Hey, Jimmy's
in the queue, what do youwant? And you you texted you wanted
(01:10):
a pirate pass with everything, andthen you said you want an Incredi pass
with everything. So you're talking aboutthe passes with the water parks and the
photo pass option as well. Justto attack them all right on top of
the price you're already paying. Yes, you know, I still haven't gotten
your Venmo transfer. I'm really gonnaneed that soon. You know, I
(01:30):
don't know how to use Venmo.First of all, that's not even that's
not even a joke. You know, I don't trust Venmo or any of
those cash apps are just gonna stealyour money. At some point, I'm
gonna need you to stick your handin your mattress and grab two fistfuls and
bring them to me. Yeah, open the Scrooge McDuck vault and pull out
a bag and pull out a bagthat has a dollar sign on it.
(01:53):
It's gonna pull out a bag init. You're gonna open the vault and
it's gonna have moss fly out ofit because there's nothing in there. It's
empty. The same with the mattresssold moss from Mature the oak tree in
the backyard. Yeah. Like wealways joked that I'm in the Ivory Tower.
You're in the higher Ivory tower thanme. You have six passes,
I don't know no, Yeah, but annual passes did go on sale this
(02:16):
week, the twentieth of April, which I don't know if that was a
joke, an inside joke or what, but they'd go back on sale.
Jimmy, you actually did wait inthe queue just to see what that experience
looked like. Um I did waseight hours? Eight Yeah for me,
it was eight hours. There werethere were people that got in and out.
(02:38):
I saw some one person said it'san infinite amount of time to wait
online, but apparently if you call, it's five to ten minutes. Oh
my gosh. Really yeah, Like, who would have thought. Let's I
did not test that, but that'swhat I let's just pick up the phone
and call somebody. Who could youhave gone to the park and done it
as well? I imagine you couldhave just gone to like guest services right
(02:59):
like on the outside at Epcot, you know that rear the rear entrance of
Epcot where you going that the backway through the resort, and they yeah,
yeah, I know what you're talkingabout. And they got they got
a box office right there, justlike they have the box office at you
know, the TTC and any ofthe other or Disney Springs. I would
have gone to the Disney Springs one. Yeah, that's where I would have
gone if I was going to goin person. I don't know if they
(03:20):
were doing them at the parks becauselike customer relations is always crazy on a
normal day annual pass release. Man, you know, I don't know that
backdoor of Epcot. I've never hada Trump trouble with now. I've never
gone for like a special event, but I've gone there. I've updated my
annual passes and years gone by oneI had them. I never had an
issue back and that rear instance ofEpcot, mostly because in that area is
(03:45):
only people saying it resorts. Yeah, you don't get too many, you
know, regular people rolling up thatway because you don't think about it until
now. Now we've put it outthere into the world and forget it and
now you've to get in there again. Sorry, Well that's all right.
You know, my spot at DisneySprings still is pretty solid, so I'm
happy we go. Where is thatlocation at Disney Springs for all the listeners
(04:06):
to know, look for Blaze Pizza. And then there's there's a thing at
Disney Springs. And I didn't knowthis until I tried to renew my annual
past a couple of years ago. There's a town center and it's like a
visitor center in the middle of likeDisney Springs, and it's just like you
can walk three hundred and sixty degreesaround that building, so it's like in
(04:29):
the middle around like I want tosay, like it's ever about the shopping
ball side of Disney Springs. Yeah, yes, absolutely, look for Blaze
Pizza. You'll you'll find it overthere. So eight hours online, by
the time you did get to thearea where you could actually purchase, there
was still availability. Yes, yes, and I Disney had um. I
(04:51):
don't know how many times you've beenin virtual cues lately, but typically now
in virtual cues, he'll give youthe time. And this isn't just Disney.
I've seen it in other things. They'll give you the time that you're
gonna wait, you know, youget the progress spar and then underneath it
they'll have like a little box forlike messages, like when passes start selling
out. They had anticipation of sellingout on the twentieth. By the time
(05:15):
I had gotten in eight hours, everything was still available. Okay, do
you mean I'm refreshing the page nowto see if there's any availability still for
any of the passes. They resumedas of today and everything was still available
to purchase. I wonder what theyyou know, you wonder we don't know
because obviously this is not probably informationthey're going to release. But what sort
(05:38):
of a number they put on acap for those passes, like a total
number and then an individualized number.I would think Pirate pass is going to
be the most popular, just becauseit's somewhat affordable, but not really it's
the most affordable of the weekend passes. Yeah, yeah, like weekday passes
(05:59):
that's like for seeing your citizens andbillionaires because you don't work. So so
the thing is um when these havegone on sale. So Disneyland in California
has been doing this for about ayear now, and there's there's are passes.
They're called keys, but it's it'sobsensially the same thing. And there's
like literally because they are I know, we always talking about it. They
(06:20):
are smaller parks, reduced capacity evenit is what it is. They sell
out those things and hours and Imean like one to two. If that
curious, Well, I mean I'mI'm on the ticket page right now and
everything still available. Yeah, Imean there's there's things to consider here.
(06:45):
Um, the price is it's growna lot over the years, I mean
astronomically. Jimmy was given me ahard time when we were texting back and
forth about this other day. Youknow, passes used to be about four
hundred bucks for what the equivalent ofa pirate passes now, and that wasn't
that. It wasn't that many yearsago. And Jimmy's like, oh,
candy, but candy Bar used tobe a nickel. Well, yeah,
(07:06):
that was like a fifty or seventy. I don't know how many years ago
Candy Bar was a nickel, butthis was you know, within the last
five to eight years. You geta pass for under five hundred dollars.
Scott, what's a Nickels? Thatband from Canada? Oh, nickel Back.
Yeah, that's the most popular bandout of Canada. It's the one
(07:29):
before the You get it confused fora quarters sometimes I don't know what quarter
is. No, it's a bigsilver one that doesn't have like the ridged
edges. You guys are missing outnot having coins. Coins are cool,
man. I threw those away whenthey when when they're given to me.
What is this, Scott just throwsthem in the street. It just throws
them. No, not even inthe street just in the garbage is stupid.
(07:54):
What does this? What do youuse this floor? Why does this
exist? This is heavy and dirtylooking. I don't know this. What
does it give me? Tokens? Is there an arcade here? Yeah?
I don't have any use for this? So pass is there? Wishing Well?
Nearby passes are still available, butum, they're not cheap. When
Jimmy priced out three pirate passes forme, it was twenty one hundred dollars
(08:18):
in change. Is that right?Uh, let me go back to it.
Yeah, it was. Uh,it's well, it's seven fifty.
So yeah, what's seven fifty timesthree plus twenty two thousand, three hundred
two thousand, three hundred ninety threedollars and seven cents including twenties. Yeah,
(08:39):
when you include that tax, Yes, I mean that's that's a that's
a big, you know, financialinvestment for a family. I'm a family
of three were traditionally actually smaller thanmost families. Most families are four or
more. So I mean that's athat's a lot of money to shell out.
Well, uh, deckerment, Uh, look at it like this.
You put a six hundred and fifteendollars down payment, then your payments a
(09:00):
month, they're only one hundred andforty eight dollars. That's all okay,
all right, cool, I meanthat's a one hundred and forty I mean
the six fifty down is like that'llsting. But one hundred fifty bucks a
month, you know, you couldswing that. And so it's one of
them. That'd be like my thirdmost expensive payment for anything. It'd be
my mortgage, my car, andthen Disney. All right, well say
(09:20):
what, Jimmy, what did yousay? Twenty two? All right,
so we'll put put in Venumo requesttwenty two hundred dollars, twenty three hundred
for shipping and handling. Yeah, actually twenty four for interest because he's already
a day late. Yeah. Well, actually twenty four will cover the entire
thing, okay, so twenty fivewith interest. Yeah, and so and
(09:45):
then we'll we'll do the math onhow much you owe us for the incredibass.
Okay, here, all right,that's that's that's great. I'll just
I'll just throw this out there, you know, for a family that's on
a budget. I want to say, when I priced out Universe for same
deal three passes, it was aroundtwelve hundred SeaWorld even less because um,
(10:09):
well, let's see world, especiallyif you go and purchase it during their
their Blue Friday sale. Yes,so I mean you could get you could
get SeaWorld, Bush Gardens, Aquatica, an Adventure Island all and have it
still be considerably less than either ofthe other parks. Or you could just
buy one for the Pepper Pass PepperPig Park. That is true. The
Pepper Pig Park was like what wasthe annual pass that like one hundred bucks?
(10:31):
It's like eighty bucks I think,and it's sold out immediately. There's
gonna be more than you get apark than your annual pass. It's all
you can eat bacon too. Ohno, that's not right. There's no
pork products in the Pepper Pig Park. I gotta believe we ran through the
menu. Oh we did run throughthe menuments, Scott. I just sent
(10:52):
Dickerman a Apple cash request of twentyfour hundred dollars. We'll see if he
responds, Oh good, I maylet me know if I need to do
the same thing. What is thistwenty four hundred dollars? Just pay it.
He's somehow gonna you know, he'ssomehow going to accidentally do it.
He's somehow going to accidentally send youthis money, and now we're both gonna
(11:15):
be guilt ridden as it will takelike more than a day to send it
back. Yes. Um, Idon't think there's any money attached to my
Apple account other than my regular creditcard, and I don't think it works
like that. I don't think Ican just send Jimmy twenty four hundred dollars
I did. I didn't actually geta request. I think you do have
a I think you do have alimit to the of what you could send
(11:37):
in Apple fee. Oh god,it's it's I think it's like ten thousand.
Oh no, oh no, Iwas gonna say it's like a thousand.
The elitists working at Apple at tenthousand, that's nothing. We canna
make that little, that's fine,no big deal. I spent that on
lunch yesterday. Ten thousand dollars isin an air at all. I throw
that away a change, all right. So yeah, if you if you
(12:01):
have that expendable income, First off, congratulations. Second off, you can
get your wealth Disney World passes. Now purchase them while you still can't,
because we do. They anticipated asell out yesterday that didn't happen yesterday,
but I imagine it could happen atany point. Now, can I just
say, I feel like they're justsaying that to get people to do it
as soon as possible. Well, they might be. I mean they could
(12:22):
be, you know, because here'sthe thing. Annual passes never sold out
before when they were on sale.Well they never, they never. I
don't think they ever put a limiton them. You know, this is
they're almost taking like the old vault, Like they closed the vault for their
their videos and movies. But nowthey've opened the vault for annual passes.
But now that they're going to seehow many people are buying these, why
(12:43):
would they turn away the money theywant the Foamo. They want to build
up that false anty. They hadthree years, they had almost three years
to the day of the Foamo.Hm. I maybe I'll be wrong.
I would never see them going backwards. I guess we'll see. I guess
we'll see how that how it shakesout. But yeah, if you want
(13:03):
to get those passes, um,maybe do it soon. I don't know
who knows. Yeah, don't dowhat Dickerman did. Just buy one tier
of a pass. Don't buy two. And look if you get that fomo
and you don't buy tickets and theysell out, you know what. There's
Universal and their Sea World, andthere's Bush Gardens or and there's fun Spot
wherever you want to go. Youdon't have to go there. Or they're
(13:24):
constantly doing four day deals. Seeonce you're an annual pass old, or
you will never buy a four daypass. That's ridiculous. This is true.
This is this is very true.Could why do you what do you
mean? I have a couple ofdays now, I'm used to go on
whatever I want Tuesday afternoon from fourto five and I'm going home? All
(13:46):
right? Should we move on?Yes? All right? Um Scott,
you had you had an a firsthand report just come down of the Rodeo
Round Up Barbecue at Disney Hollywood Studio. Somebody actually made it in there.
Yep. We didn't think it waspossible, but somebody did. Literally they
booked a reservation on Wednesday for thisrestaurant on Friday. Okay, oh wow,
(14:13):
that's a quick turn. What isthis curting into the Star Wars Hotel.
Here's the thing, anybody in now, spring break is over, Easter
Holiday is over. Okay, thisis this is we are in the down
period right now at the parks beforesummer. That's why they started selling the
annual passes again. Some times whilewe're talking here, it's you know,
(14:33):
truly down it is. But yes, so, uh looking at the menu,
I know we've run through the menubefore, but it is a barbecue
restaurant. Ribs, brisket, sausage, barbecued chicken or plant baste. Foods
like the combat coral flower Okay, all right, uh rip roaring rib chop.
(14:56):
Apparently, the the homemade biscuits. The Prospector's homemade cheddar biscuits with sweet
pepper jelly are the best bread itemon property at Disney. Wow, that's
really yes, old statement. Okay. Um, multiple items of desserts are
available as well. So basically it'syou order for the plate kind of thing
(15:22):
or for the table, all right. Yeah, it's a family style style.
Yeah. One of the coolest thingsthat I saw. I got a
video of this and it's posted onour socials. At some points, because
you were toys inside of a toybox restaurant, Okay, some points,
you will hear Andy looking for somethingthat's cool, that's fun, and everyone
(15:43):
in the restaurant freezes because Andy's coming. Yeah, and he's coming, you
can't move. And then when Andyleaves, you know, good job everyone,
we did it. That sounds fun. I like that idea. I
like that's that's fun with kids too. Kids. Kids will eat that up.
And I know we've talked about before, but any any seeing of the
pictures of people signing the checks withthe giant pencil is awesome. Yeah,
(16:10):
yeah, that's I love. Ilove all they've done with this so far.
I hope the food's good. Um, and what else? Canna?
What else? Uh? That wasreally good? Um. Apparently the salmon
is also really good there. Iknow you're a big salmon person. You
the paper The food comes on paperplates that are actually ceramic, but they're
(16:30):
made to look like paper plates.Yeah, okay, but yeah, it's
uh, it's pretty awesome. Ohsounds good. It's good. Good to
hear a report there. Just quickfollow up on the downtime right now.
A Slinky Dog Dash one hundred andforty minutes for remy read A twy adventure
one hundred and twenty rise one hundredand five. Um, Frozen is at
(16:51):
ninety five, Mine train at ninetyPeter Pan at ninety, Navi River Journey
at eighty five, Avatar at eightyfive, Tower of Tear at eighty Just
uh, those are the times. It doesn't sound like a downtime. I
don't know, let me but butI wonder though if I could get because
the afternoon drop for Tron last weekwas available for three hours. Wow.
(17:15):
Yeah, tell me again, whattell me again? Why we have virtual
cues? I need to lose thosevirtual cues are stupid. They're dumb.
Jimmy, you made your way outto Trader Sam's multiple times in the past
week. Um, first off,why are you constantly going to Trader Sam's
And what did you come home with? He's doing it to annoy me.
(17:37):
Yes, Well, I have afriend in my life, Greg. He
Uh he's a big tiki. He'slike my uh my biggest tiki friend if
you will. And uh, youknow, he's rich and buys all these
tikis that are like super expensive andstuff. Never been to Trader Sam's because
he's not a huge fan of Disney. So, uh, he says to
(18:00):
me the other day, you know, I really need to go to Trader
Sam's. Put it on the calendar, and this past Saturday was that day.
I'm gonna give everyone a tip.Trader Sam's opens at three. Do
not get there at three. Ifyou want to get in at three,
you need to get there at twoto get into queue, to get a
reserve, you know, not toget reservation, but like get your place
in line. We got there atthree right when it opened. It was
a three hour wait. Oh good, good cravy. Yeah. So we
(18:25):
ended up going to right outside ofTrader Sam's is like there is like their
little ani area. It's basically outdoorcast is what I basically call that place.
No, it's got an official name, but it's basically an outdoor version
for that. And we went there. We went over to the Enchanted Rows
over at um at a Grand Fleridian. It was only two and a half
(18:51):
hours into our three hour late waitwhen they called us back go and we
just drank and had a good time. We specifically talked my buddy's wife into
ordering a beer and she ordered ayeng Ling. Oh man, here it
comes here, it comes nothing.Oh that's not fair. They did not
make fun of her at all forordering a beer. God's leading. God
(19:14):
has just taken up his headphones. He is angered. He is mad.
Not a thing. Were they overlybusy? Like do they don't have time
to make fun of her? No? But that's the thing is like,
you know, it is like atwo and a half hour away, but
it's not overly crowded. In theactual bar. You have room to like,
you know, spread out a littlebit. I think what it is.
(19:37):
I think what it is, andI don't remember seeing this before.
They have a beer flight now onthe menu, and I'm wondering if without
having ConA beer, and like allthose other Hawaiian beers, they're kind of
getting away from making fun of peoplefrom ordering beers because they want them to
try these Hawaiian beers. So Ithink it's just a change in like culture
at the place. At what pointdid you get COVID in there? Because
(20:00):
I saw the photo on Facebook whereyou're all drinking out of the same cup.
It's gross. Yeah. We Uh. Somebody at the table ordered a
what do you call it? ANautilus, which is the submarine from twenty
thousand Leagues under the Sea, andit's like it's an enormous cocktail. It's
kind of like, uh, theone you get from the Scorpion from Kobe
(20:22):
Steakhouse. It's kind of like thatwhere it's you need more of the one
person and uh so we all likeand it was enough straw to everybody,
So we all just like two peoplewere drinking out of it. In the
picture, some of us were justholding the straws in their mouths for you
know, dramatic effect. What's what'sthe beverage? Like that? Run you?
What is that? What does thatcost you? In there? That
one was with the mug it wassixty bucks. That's why I don't drink
(20:48):
it. Can't afford it. Yeah, well, so what what what'd you
get? Uh? Well, Igot the zombie mug, the new one.
It's got like the Matt finish, and it's got the uh it's lou
looks really really good and it's gota little like a couple of highlights of
other colors on it. And thenuh also in the gift shop they had
this pineapple Like if you've ever beento the bar that's right outside of Ohana,
(21:11):
they serve a drink called the LappooLappoo and it's basically a hollowed out
pineapple with some like you know, obviously RUMs because you're in that whole tropical
theme. Um, they made atiki of that and that was sold in
the gift shop and that was prettyinexpensive at thirty four ninety nine. And
then, um, the third tikiI got was yesterday, well, I
(21:33):
should say Thursday, you know, the on UH four twenty when they were
doing the annual pass release. Itwas also the halfway halfway to Halloween celebration
kicked off and they had a surpriserelease of the gargoyle. And I'm showing
it to you on the camera thatnobody at home. This is great for
radio. You can see like,oh, they light up, that's cool.
(21:56):
Yeah, they light up and theyactually have like the flickering fire effect,
which is really that's awesome. That'sa that's a great cup. Yeah.
This is the gargoyle from you know, a honted mansion. When you're
in that room that stretches in betweeneach of the paintings, there's a gargoyle
holding candles. This is a gargoylefrom the Haunted mansion. This is why
(22:17):
Lauren Campbell realtor doc let you buythat. That's that's why. Yeah,
yeah mansion. She thought I wascrazy for driving up there last night at
ten o'clock to go pick it up. But you know what, Yeah,
that's what you want. That's whatyou want, right, Yeah. And
it comes with a specialty drink too. It's a ma tie and it's got
you know, BlackBerry brandy, passionfruit, orange, guava juice, you
(22:41):
know, a lime juice, abunch of different stuff. And what's cool
about the cocktail is it's pure blackwhen it's in the cup. So between
the cup and the cocktail and theduy, what that totally costs you in
the end. Uh well, Iam still waiting to see what Kaufman and
Lynn can do for me about mydui. But now, yes, no,
(23:04):
no, no, do you Iactually got There's one of the great
things too, is they have analcohol version and in a non alcoholic version.
I got the non alcoholic version becauseit was ten o'clock at night and
I need to drive back to Orlando, so exactly yes, and I and
I picked one up for my buddytoo, and because he made it possible
(23:25):
for me to get them, anduh yeah, I would have had two
cocktails. No, we're gonna donon alcoholic. Thank you for me to
come pick you up ten o'clock. And they Hey, there two sneakies and
they were full. I had theempty them, I would have just gotten
a room. Man, I'm richnow, sure, I'm sure you are.
