(00:01):
From the theme park capital of theworld, Orlando, Florida. Is the
Theme Park Podcast. Wait podcast? Is this? Why does everything got to
be so messy on this station?Anyway? Here's your hosts, Dickerman,
Jimmy D and Scott Harris and welcomeinto the Theme Park Podcast. We are
(00:24):
officially into the month of June. It's Dickerman here, there's Jimmy D.
What's going on, guys, it'sGemini season? And Scott Harris. Hello.
Yes, believe we're already into thesummer months of theme park insanity,
not only the hottest time of theyear in Florida, but also the busiest
(00:44):
time maybe outside of Christmas at ourwonderful theme parks here. You know,
I actually heard that Memorial Day wasn'tthat bad. Yeah, I saw it
reports that it was pretty crazy atsome parks, but I didn't get a
full park report. But you know, as summer rolls on, it's only
gonna get worse. You know whereit was busy where Disneyland, California.
(01:08):
Yep, because now there's only oneSplash Mountain left in the world and everybody
wanted yeah yeah, and before theyclosed that one up too, yep,
yep. It is officially closed.Goodbye Splash Mountain. So if you want
to go do it, go toJapan. Oh, they have it in
Japan, Stid hang On. Ishould have had this at the Red End
(01:32):
in Japan. They might just belike, that's fine. It's no.
They have said that they were nothand guys. They have said they will
not make changes to theirs. Yeah, it's it's Japan. It's a different,
different vibe. I imagine over there, Tokyo to Tokyo Disneyland. Okay,
Tokyo disney Land. It's a placeI want to go. I want
to go to also Universal Studios Japanas well. At some point I want
(01:53):
to go to both those places.I'm going to Japan in twenty twenty five.
You need to come with me.You are what do you go for
celebration? Oh you're going to Japanfor that? Yeah, the next celebrations
in Japan. It's either that eitherI wait two years to go to Japan
or I wait like four to fiveyears to go to the whatevers after Japan.
(02:15):
So I'm just gonna do Japan.Oh, how celebration Japan would be
wild? How about this? FromJuly through August last year, Splash Mountain
at Tokyo Disneyland became Splash Mountain GetWet Max, during which guests gotten more
(02:36):
soaked because it's hotter outside. Okay, so they just they threw more water,
but they advertise it. Yeah, well okay, yes I didn't.
Splash Mountain hasn't been advertised since likeninety nine when it open. No,
I just mean advertising, Hey,we're gonna get you wetter on the ride.
Yeah, we should do that here. It's it's a different culture over
(02:58):
there and different things, like youknow, are enticing to that peep that
crowd over there. It's interesting,it's interesting. I would love to go
there just to see how the PFfeel racked, to see how people dress
for the parks and just the wholeexperience. They wouldn't let you there,
Godzilla, Godzilla, you wouldn't beable to eat anything there. They have
(03:23):
McDonald's in Japan. I know fora fact there's been enough MMA promotions and
wrestling promotions that I've sent these guysin Japan, and I know when those
big old wrestler guys go there, they get looked at like they got sixteen
heads, because they don't see peoplelike that all the time. Yeah,
it's an attraction. I've been I'veheard that folks in Japan, like the
(03:45):
you know, the locals, they'llwant to take pictures with you. Yeah,
because like look at this. Youknow, there's a giant white guy
that's here. Hey, you guysa freak show. He looks nothing like
people we normally see here. Allright, I'm excited. Yeah, um,
all right. So I mentioned thatit's the beginning of June. We
are officially into VIP passholder month overat Walt Disney World. So they literally
(04:08):
they just brought back passes what lastmonth? That was last month, right,
all of a sudden, okay,April and now all of a sudden,
we're into VIP passholder month. Sothey're trying to go out of their
way to do something for passholders.I think in the past, maybe you
guys remember better. The only thingI really remember as a passholder was you'd
get a magnet sometimes and there wasa special line that you could go into,
(04:29):
but they didn't really check that lineand anybody could go through it.
Was there anything else that we evergot as passholders for Disney? You could
ride the new rides, true, that is true. You would get the
you'd have the opportunity, you hada chance at a chance, you had
an opportunity to ride the rides ifyou're able to get through that lottery system.
But nothing exclusive, nothing, nothinglike a reward kind of like what
(04:54):
Universal does for their passholders exactly. So we finally have our she helps a
reward going on. You're gonna haveexclusive seating over at Epcot in the Land
pavilion. Have you guys seen whatthis This setup looks like. They have
beamed tables and I'm telling you rightnow, I want to pillage the orange
(05:17):
Bird table. I'm sure you do. There's a lot of things you want
to pillage from Disney trash cans, rugs that go in front of doors,
and now the orange Bird table.Yeah, I could really use that rug
right now. Yeah, I gotyou're the one that was in my office.
So now it's like very echoine.Okay, well, you know,
(05:38):
see if you can make a friend. So this is in the land.
When you go down there, youhead head down like you're going to living
with the land, and it's rightthere. You actually have to present your
pass, your annual pass card, and I can you show it on your
phone? Now? Can you putit in your wallet and just show it
in your phone. You don't haveto show the physical card, do you
do? We know? My guessis if you just show any to form
(06:00):
of it, you might have toshow your phone and your ID so it
matches. They do say you mightneed to show your ID as well when
you present your annual pass card, just to make sure you know, okay,
this is it. This is it. They're actually going to run some
you know, legit security on thisplace so the riff raff can't sneak in,
you know, the regular day passholders. I wonder if they'll just
tap your magic band. I don'tknow. It seems the way it's described,
(06:24):
and I haven't been there obviously,because I'm not a pass holder.
What do you mean? You're afour? You're you're a six time pass
holder? Why did you get toeach I don't know what was that thinking?
And why haven't you paid us back? That's not happening. Now that's
gonna happen. We don't have It. Sounds like there's a physical person they're
(06:46):
waiting for you to check your cardand uh no, tapoo tapoo. On
that situation, you do a complimentarysnacks a figment sticker, and you have
that exclusive seating area along with icecold water to drink as well. So
it's kind of like you guys, remember this the visa credit card. Yeah,
(07:08):
that was nice. That was nice. That was always pretty good deal.
That was not a bad deal.Um. You also can charge your
devices there too. They have charginglockers lightning USBC and what's microbe Does anybody
know what MicroB is? That's forlike devices kind of along the lines of
like cameras and like go pros. Can we just not switch everything to USBC
(07:30):
and be done with us? Hey? Can we just hey? Hey,
hey, half the world is tryingto tell Apple to do that. Okay,
here Union they already h yeah,I told them they had to in
Europe. So see what happens there? Here you go. Oh. One
other thing is there is a figmentphoto op there Scott Harris as an exclusive
an exclusive figment photo op. Andif it's anything like the Disney Visa photo
(07:56):
ops, the lines are usually likenon existent for those I have done that.
Me and Courtney did that a coupleof times and it was Yeah,
a lot of fun. It's great. You walk right up. There's never
a line. They're just waiting foryou. June thirtieth, that goes through.
So if you want to take advantage, if you're a passholder, if
you want to become a passholder,I guess you still can. I did
see sea World's offerings for the monthof June two because they do something every
(08:20):
month for their passholders. Sea Worldseems to really like go out and above
and beyond for their passholders to tryand do stuff. So um for June,
their passholder benefits are a free weekdaySea World Rescue tour. I don't
know what that is. Anybody inable to see World rescue tours. They
have their rescues set up in theback there. It's over by like where
(08:43):
the manatees where they rehab the manatees. You get a tour of that area.
Okay. Also ten dollars in SeaWorld Bucks vip Ride night that's actually
happening the first which is tonight, the night we're recording this, and you
can buy guest tickets for forty twoninety nine for up to four people.
So that's a pretty steep discount onguest tickets. Dolphin Button and you can
(09:05):
get your Hollow Scream tickets for justthirty two ninety nine during the month of
June. So again, at thirtytwo bucks for your hollow Scream tickets is
a pretty great deal too. Sothat's what's going on in the month of
June. Not a bad situation, right there. You guys want to roll
on with some further news, Yeah, U dining plans back? Okay this
(09:31):
now? Can regular people get this? Or you can only get this if
you're staying at a theme park.I think you have to be staying at
a resort to get the dining plan. All right, all right, that
makes sense. But here's my question, and I'll throw this out before we
get into the details of the diningplan. We thought about this number of
times. We tried to make thesenumbers that make sense. We never actually
could. But generally, when youget the dining plan, you also have
(09:54):
to buy tickets. So the thoughtwas, okay, I'll take the tickets
and either put them towards my nextannual pass or sell the tickets or something
like that. But um, itused to be like, you know,
if you booked enough time you canget free dining plan. Those days are
gone, am I right? Yes? Those days are long gone? All
right, So what are we lookingfor for dining plan this year in twenty
(10:16):
twenty four. Do we want todo do we want to do quick service?
Are we looking to do the bigone? I'm I'm a luxury person,
So what's the top tier? Okay, so read a Disney dining plan.
You're gonna scape thinking quick service.Nobody wants quick service. It's garbage,
throw out the trash. Okay,Disney dining plan for adults, it
(10:41):
is ninety four dollars in twenty eightcents per day, twenty nine sixty nine
for children, those are some oddnumber. That is the widest disparity I've
ever seen, I know, rightlike kids, if you got a kid,
you're making out like like a bandit. It's only thirty bucks a day.
Yeah, bad at all. That'sa great deal. Um. All
(11:05):
right, So here's what you receiveif you're on the dining plan. One
quick service meal per day, whichI assume you guys are just gonna throw
in the trash because that's nonsense. You don't want that, yep, One
table service meal per per day,one snack or non alcoholic beverage per day,
and one resort refillablemok. Okay, that's cool, that's I like that.
(11:30):
Really, the only difference between thetwo plans is the top tier plan
you get a sit down meal, whereas the other plan you get two quick
service. Yes, yeah, that'sthat's exactly what it is, two quick
service. So you're just adding thatmakes sense? I mean, I guess
you know. I mean, whenyou do the dining plan, you gotta
(11:52):
plan it right right, you gottaplanet to um to go to the most
expensive places you couldn't afford it.I pick the Galactic Starkers Hotel. Just
let me in. I'm just gonnacome. I got a dining plans.
It has a table service establishment mmhmm. Yeah. What's the other one
(12:13):
we wanted to do that we couldthat we could never see into. It's
over at Epcot. It's um it'sSpace Space twenty twenty. Right, yeah,
do we know anybody it's gone tothat thing? Yeah? No,
that's because no one in Orlando canget a reservation. And it is true.
Reservations are harned to get and it'sit is it's pricey, it's it's
not cheap. I'm gonna look rightnow to see if you can get a
(12:37):
reservation. Yep. It's like,Ohanna It's just I've never even seen it
come up on a restaurant search.Yeah, I've I saw it once.
I saw it once, and Idon't remember what the situation was. It
must have been like you got toeat it midnight on a Tuesday, pretty
(12:58):
much like right when the park's gonnaclose. Like we were looking this week,
just you know, just for thefun of it. And we did
see like Chef Mickey coming up,but it's like ten minutes before they closed.
I'm like, well, what kindof service are you gonna get when
you walk in at that point?Yeah? How long has that be faging
to remain open? You can't reallystretch your day out that way while you
look for that scott um real quick. Staying at Disney World, do you
(13:20):
guys did see that Rock and Rollercoaster reopened? Yeah? And nothing,
nothing, nothing changed. There wasso much speculation, there was so much.
I know, we got we gotback light black light paint that was
refreshed um and the lighting system wasupdated and that that's that's it. Nothing
nothing more. Just yeah, there'sstill there. The soft opening is over.
(13:45):
It's now officially back in the lineup. Yeah. In addition to Rock
and Roller, coaster reopening. Idon't think we touched on this last week,
but Makeo reopened as well. Thatwas closed for a bit. Yeah,
they were painting it. Yeah, they did a new paint job on
it. Listed as USA Today's numberone on roller coaster in America? Is
Makoo back open at Sea World?I have seen a lot of people have
(14:05):
been riding Mako, so yeah, that just that got a fresh paint shout,
But there was no speculation unrdoing Mako. What if it's a hammerhead?
What if it comes back as anurse shark? I got nothing in June.
Nothing. No, you're not You'renot gonna find anything. You're you're
not gonna find a single thing atthat place. At least it's staying open,
though. We could say that inmind, I'm looking for a meal
(14:28):
for one, oh just single, yes, just let me in the doors.
You could search at least two, because nobody has just a seat for
one person. All right, it'sa good call. It's true. Yeah.
When we did uh, we didthe Mexican Pavilion and Epcot, we
got that little like little two persontable. There was not a single one
person table that a little two persontable though not a bad deal right there.
(14:54):
It's a little fun intimate table.Yes, Jimmy, well heat,
yeah, I was gonna say whyhe was he's still scarring for a reservation.
I did go to Trader Sam's andbuy Wait where Trader Sam's did when
you walk in at this point,Jimmy, did they just like is it
(15:16):
like norm and cheers and that I'mdating myself with that reference. But did
they go Jimmy because you're there likeevery week? Now it's the yes,
but it's not that kind of emotion. It's more of a this guy again,
guy, he must have got paidagain here from guy I got his
weekly paycheck. Heurius the dump, put on a tiki mug. Lauren gave
(15:37):
me my allowance, and I boughtthe Nautilus. Um. I didn't mean
for that to be a pregnant pause. My brain just went into screensaver mode
for a second. I bought thesubmarine. What is the Nautilus? Is
a submarine mug? It's a submarinefrom twenty thousand leagues under the sea.
(15:58):
Okay, uh, would you rankthat as one of your top tiki mugs?
Now, I'm I'm at this point. At some point you're in the
show, We're gonna have to doJimmy's top tiki mugs. It's it's to
me, it's like iconic and Ihad to have it. It's the first
tiki mug I ever really wanted andnow I finally got it. And yeah,
(16:21):
so that was that was pretty cool. But speaking of tiki mugs,
um, Jurassic Park, Yeah, they're really coming after you, now,
buddy. They are they just theyare there. They're being nut of they'ren't
even like going an easy on him, They're just coming out hard. Well,
you know, I'm a little thankfulit's a plastic U tiki mug.
As that way, I'm not astempted to renew my annual pass. You
(16:45):
still want it, though, don'tyou. No, I don't need it.
I become a cup elitist. It'sceramic or um, it's gonna be
ceramic or stainless steel for me.But it's affordable. This, this thirtieth
anniversary Jurassic World tiki mug with thedrink inside of it, is a mere
(17:06):
seventeen dollars and fifty cents, Andcomparison to other tiki mugs, that's a
that's like a Margain basement price right, James, My Nautilus with the drink
was sixty two dollars. Oh ohwow, that's a lot. Yeah,
I can't believe Lauren, let youdo this. She did not. I
did not discuss that with her aheadof time. She's not listening tonight.
(17:27):
No she knows, and uh yeah, I got in trouble for that one.
Jia, is this a situation likewhere you just you you get stuff
until she says, all right,we're done now and you're not gonna buy
anymore now. I mean, there'sgonna be other tikis that I'm going to
want, but I need to Ineed to pace myself. I was gonna
(17:52):
say for them for your birthday andChristmas? Did you ever get worried that
Allah the a Christmas story. She'sgonna be like dusting or something with you
another room and then you hear acrash. Oh no, she doesn't dust.
That's it'll be fun. There's notesting going on in this house.
(18:12):
Don't worry. Don't concern yourself withthat silliness. This is not a concert
for us here. Well no,actually it's it's funny you bring that up
this past weekend. I completely guttedmy office and re capitulated, and all
my tikis are behind glass in acabinet. Oh wow, did you ever
(18:32):
use them? Yes? Oh?Okay, absolutely. Actually I can't say
for the Star Wars ones because someof them I've never used, but all
of like the Trader Sam's ones orany of that stuff, it's from when
I've gone there. You know,Yeah, I've used it, and I
have a specific memory from that time, and you know, all those memories
(18:53):
are great, so because I usuallyhave a buzz. All right, Well,
if you're not a tiki elitist andyou want to get these your Assic
Park thirty at the anniversary Tiki Cupseventeen dollars and fifty cents, very reasonable.
Watering hole at Islands of Adventure isthe place to get that. Um,
that is the spot to go pickthis up. All right, you
guys, we're talking about spending moneyhere. Can I throw one more monetary
(19:17):
thing at you to see to seeif you guys might be in for this
one? Yep? Yeah go,this is This is even bigger than Jimmy's
Japan trip. Okay, I'll justI'll lay it out like that Adventures by
Disney. I know this, Yeahright, my answers. Yes, it's
a private jet vacation to every Disneytheme park in twenty twenty four. Anybody
(19:41):
who want to take a wild guessat what this number might look like.
Remember you are traveling by jet.I actually know the answer to this.
Dams you want to you want totake a stab of this. I'm gonna
say twenty four thousand dollars. I'mgonna go. Price is right, one
dollar the actual price is And mindyou, they did this last year and
(20:06):
they sold out, okay, soldout In the pre sales. The price
for this trip is one hundred andfourteen thousand dollars nine hundred and fifteen grand
basic. I don't know how tosay one fourteen nine ninety five. However,
you say that, what if youdon't like the people that are also
bought into the trip, I don'tknow you can um. The pre sale
starts on June twelfth. That's onlyfour people that have done Adventure by Disney
(20:30):
and have done three or more adventuresJune fourteenth. All other guests that have
done previous adventures June sixteenth, GoldenOak members. Those are the people with
those houses that are over right acrossthe street. Yeah, wow dollars and
June nineteenth, the general public isable to buy this. So this is
(20:51):
this is a level that I don'teven think we can comprehend. Like we
joked about the price of the StarWars Hotel, which was incomprehensible for the
most part. This is just likepeople that have absolutely obscene amounts of money,
just sickening amounts of money the trip. If I could afford it,
I would do it, though itwould be cheaper to become a member of
(21:12):
Club thirty three. Yeah. Imean, look, if you're third on
the list because you own a multimilliondollar housing old Nook, that's a pretty
elite list right there. Twenty fourdays, the trip is scheduled to last
sixty nine meals, and you're goingto visit a total of thirty one sites.
(21:33):
Now here's there is one little catchin one hundred and fifteen thousand dollars.
It does not include the transportation youneed to get to southern California,
which is where everything begins. Soyou got to make your own way to
southern California. Good, So Iwill sixty bucks for Southwest to get you
to California. So I will walkthere because I sold all of my other
(21:56):
possessions. Good lord, fifteen thousanddollars, that is, that is a
heck of a vacation. I meanyou got to be a super fan.
I mean a superfan that is likeobscenely rich. And it's like, I
don't I don't need money, Letme just spend it on something stupid.
This is the something stupid. Andnot that traveling is stupid and going around
(22:17):
the world, but at this,at this level, that is that is
obscene. I would do it ifI had the means. Yep, one
thousand percent. Here's my thought. Here's my one thought I'll share with this
if I had the means, Eventhough I did, I don't think i'd
like the people. I think peoplewith that much money, I just even
if like I somehow fell into thatamount of money, I don't think I
could relate to them in any way. So you think you'd trying to do
(22:38):
it on your own, then Imean I could do it for a lot
less on my own, I knowthat much. Just say I'd go with
friends. I bring you guys, because I have all the money, and
I could probably still do it forless. For all of us, I
went Powerball and taking the two ofyou. Okay, all right, let's
just do it on our own.We don't need to spend one hundred and
fifteen grand on it. I wouldstill keep up the trend of not actually
(23:00):
acknowledge acknowledging either of you existed, though, yes, Scott, somehow would
be in the front of the line. We've never seen him. We did
not see him the entire trip, and until we got back on the plane.
You just see like catch a glimpseof him, like on the you
know, down the hall or something. Well, guys, guys, would
you would you guys get here?We run the same plane. I'm busy.
(23:22):
