WBZ's Jordan Rich says lifeguards saved thousands of lives this year at our beaches.

Welcome to the upside with Jordan,a dose of good news, because it's
a big world out there, andthis past weekend, with the weather so
nice in the East Coast, thousandsflocked to the beaches to have fun in
the sun, and hundreds of people, that's right, hundreds were saved from
drowning by a busy contingent of lifeguardsfrom the coasts of Florida to New Hampshire.

waves and very strong and dangerous ripcurrents up and down the Atlantic Coast.
Unsuspecting swimmers fell into the clutches ofthe rip currents and many began panicking,
fearing for their lives. But upand down our coast, lifeguards swung into
action, unsung heroes who pulled hundredsout of the water with few injuries and
even fewer fatalities reported. It's morethan just a summer job, and we

we're just trying to have fun atthe beach, a good day indeed along
