Speaker 1 (00:01):
When you need to know she's got you.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's three things with the cold story is still to come.
It's not happening right now. I mean, okay, it's so
cold twenty three degrees, but if you want to talk
about the ridiculous cold that's tonight, we're down to three

(00:27):
for a low in the city. Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
That was the voice of Jennifer Ketchmark from WCPO talking
about the weather that we're getting. So I guess what
feels like mild right now is going to feel quite
different in the beginning part of tomorrow morning. And that's
going to stick around for a good solid week, which
means all the snow that hasn't been cleared from wherever
it is that you live is going to become like

(00:52):
a rock.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Now.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
On top of that, there's some snow supposedly coming our
way as well Friday into Saturday, depending on your location.
We could see varying inches and accumulation between one and
four inches. So we're not out of the woods and
we won't be for a while, all right. Second, and
three things you need to know this morning. A huge
story across the world United States is the fire's happening.

(01:17):
Wildfires happen all the time in California, but this one's
pretty intense. It's hitting Pacific Palisades now. If you need
some geography, it is bordering Malibu, twenty minutes or so
from LA And I have some visuals for you that
my best friend Hannah, who lives in Santa Monica, sent
me on my page. Guys, it's crazy. I vacationed there

(01:37):
in twenty twenty three at the tiff to F's Potter
like the Wizard. If you want to see what it
used to look like compared to what it looks like
right now. It's crazy. Pacific Palisades is also where all
the celebrities live. There's some video footage going viral of
Hannah mont Talk Montague, you'll know her from the Hills days.

(01:59):
Her house burnt down. Imagine what it's like leaving your
home and being like I think I got everything that
I needed, but I don't know, and then thinking in
your head like, oh no, I forgot to grab that,
and then the house has just gone. It's burnt to
the ground. Lots of wild weather happening across the country,
but those I can feeling for my friends in California,
I'm sure if you have them too, it's it's just crazy,

(02:20):
crazy crazy. And the Santa Ana Wins are also contributing.
We've got you know, eighty mile an hour winds. So
sending my thoughts to California and my friends and your
friends as well. All Right, lastly, and three things you
need to know this morning. I'm gonna let Mark Zuckerberg
talk about this a little bit here because there's some
changes coming to Facebook and Meta because.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
It's time to get back to our roots around free
expression on Facebook and Instagram. I started building social media
to give people a voice. I gave a speech at
Georgetown five years ago about the importance of protecting free
expression and I still believe this today. But a lot
has happened over the last several years. There's been widespread
debate about potential harms from online content. Governments and legacy

(03:02):
media have pushed to censor more and more. A lot
of this is clearly political, but there's also a lot
of legitimately bad stuff out there. Drugs, terrorism, child exploitation.
These are things that we take very seriously and I
want to make sure that we handle responsibly. So we
built a lot of complex systems to moderate content, but
The problem with complex systems is they make mistakes. Even

(03:24):
if they accidentally censor just one percent of posts, that's
millions of people. And we've reached a point where it's
just too many mistakes and too much censorship.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
So what's coming to the change is ending third party
fact checking and replacing it with community notes, removing reduction
of political content, and lifting topic restrictions. The Facebook world, well,
meta owns. I feel like meta owns everything, but Facebook
and Instagram are very different, and I don't really operate
much on Facebook much anymore because I feel like it

(03:57):
leaned so political for a while that I did get
off of it. And so from some of this content here,
I'm wondering what kind of changes will come to our feeds,
like always do your own fact checking. Okay, all right,
that is three things you need to know for the
eighth of January. It's a Wednesday. I needed that reminder myself.
