Speaker 1 (00:00):
K why no walking.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Some of the best high school basketball in the country
is played right here in southeast Wisconsin. It's time now
for the Pick and Save high school Basketball Game of
the Week on Fox Sports nine twenty and your iHeartRadio app. Now,
let's go courtside with Mike McGivern. Here's Bil Schmidt.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
That's right, big voice guy.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
It's the high school basketball Game of the Week, presented
by your local Pickingsave and Metro Market stores on Bill
Schmid alongside big time Mike McGivern, and we come courtside
from Wawatosa West High School as we bring you a
sectional semi final. I'm the girls side of the state
Division two basketball tournament here on Fox Sports nine twenty
and your iHeart Radio appnu Beryl and Eisenhower against Waukeshaw

(00:46):
West and big Time. This time of year, you get
to bring out some jewelry. The excitement goes to both sides,
the girls and the boys. And now that we're two
games away, these are the ones that are really really fun.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Billy coached a long time, right and people ask me,
you miss it that I missed this? Yeah, miss I
look the grind. I don't miss a whole lot. But
the sectionals I was lucky enough to win be part
of some state championship teams. And I can't tell you
a lot about the state championship games.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
I can tell you almost played by place.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Sectional semis sectional finals. Those were the games for some
reason that I remember so much.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
I remember a travel call. I remember a game where.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
We we we spent the entire year of closing out
high hand and don't jump on on a shot Bake,
And against.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
East Troy in the corner, we're up one.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Time, running down shot baked, the kid goes flying past
them and he hits a He hits a shot from
from short corner. And so that's the stuff I can
that I just remember, and the atmosphere for a state
semi final. But what's interesting, Billy, the game we're at
is not like there's some marquee games around the area

(02:10):
and around the state tonight. When you look at the
records of these two teams, you got to play who's
ahead of it, right, you gotta. If you look at
at their regional and their sectional, you're kind of like,
heyde Berlin Eisner got the one seed and and Seedarberg
got the two and Wakshall West got the free But
if you look at some of the other regional sectionals

(02:31):
in the Division two division, on any of them, sometimes
you kind of luck out a little bit. But that
doesn't mean that you go into a game thinking, well,
you know we got where this isn't a great sectional
and we got a.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Chance to get You just play who's ahead of it.
As coaches, we look at that stuff. And now coaches
our thing are.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Are watching to see who's gonna win the Nasha West
a peer, But you don't even talk about that game
to these kids. It's look, we didn't got to be
on the side of mine, I say, But as coaches,
we always work ahead, right, You don't look ahead, but
you work ahead. And if I walked up the coach Closston,
a coach Darling and they said, what do you know
about Manasha or West of Pier, they could they'll break

(03:12):
down there starting five, breakdown who's coming off the bench.
And these players don't know they've done all that. And
in practice, if they think that they got a decent
chance to win this game, they're already putting in drills
against who they think is gonna win West of Piramnasha
because they play them in two days.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
So it's like, look, this time of year, it's so
much fun.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
It's the whole chess match of how much time are
we gonna put in for this?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
How much time we're gonna put in for this?

Speaker 4 (03:39):
We're gonna you know, we've already shut them down a lot,
maybe three weeks ago as far as two are.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Practices and getting them on the line and running.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Now we're getting a lot of shots up and getting
a lot of stuff done, how to break their press
when they go to zone, that kind of stuff, and
it's just really fun as a coach.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
You don't sleep much this time of year.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
I asked Bach asked both Darling and classon how much
you'd be slept, and they shiit. Come on, man, you
know you've been through That've been through it to know
that that's not happening. Yeah, you got that silver ring
over there for a reason. There was a lot of
sleepless nights at this time of year.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Cool man.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
When when you talk about it, part of the grind
throughout the week is you get to earn the next week.
You sign up to play the entire regular season, but
you play the regular season to get a chance.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
To do this.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
You go through all the hard stuff to be able
to get a chance to do this here into the playoffs,
and we're gonna have a whole lot of fun here
tonight on the pick and Set high school basketball game
of the Week.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
You know, I it's a big game because uh Rob
Russell is sitting next to us and Tom Mainville, mister
Mainfeld's daughter plays for New Girl, and Eisenhower talking about it,
we go. Tom Mainville is one of the good guys.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
He is one.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
There's no doubt he's one of the good guys. I
talked to him for about twenty minutes yesterday and I said, hey,
how you feeling, He goes man, I get nervous. I'm
nervous about thist A pacing. And his daughter is a
junior on this team. She's led them in scoring the
last last two games, but their big time score had
been out with a concussion.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
She's back.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
Wakshaw West is out one of their best players fractured
an ankle, a big time softball player. I just saw
her on crutches walking a by and with six minutes
to go, they were up sixteen or eighteen and talking
to coach Darling and he said, look, I'm you know,
we're we're up eighteen with six minutes to go. Maybe
I should have had her. All said absolutely not, it's

(05:27):
a regional finals.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yet you got too much on the line. And they
were up.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
They were up fourteen with like four minutes going the
first half and it was even a half.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
And he said, look, I was a little gun shot.
And he said.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
If it was a horrible, horrible injury, and I feel bad,
and we're going to be missing her a lot. She
doesn't score a lot, but she does everything else. She's
our best defensive player. She rebounds, she attacks the basket
and kicks. He said, we're gonna miss her a little
bit tonight.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
And the competitiveness when you're one of those types of players,
we see it all over the time, all over the place.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
When you're one of these multi.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Sport athletes, the competitiveness you bring to the floor, especially
into these clutch games, right a lot of times can
be invaluable.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
So we got a big one here coming up tonight.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
As the crowd continues to file in, Mike and everybody
see wants the way with Dan carry the voice coach
from Pies.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
He's here to support Joel Clauson. I'm sure Clawson still
works in the building. I believe at Pies coaches their
softball team, and he you know now when he when
he's playing Pies.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
He said it a little bit weird because some people
cheering for me, other people booing me.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
But now they they can come and and and cheer
for cheer for close Clawson and coach Carry. Coach Carry
from Pies is here. I think he's I think he's
supporting Clawson. I'm sure you look at yes he is,
so yeah, turn not to support coach Clawson?

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Who uh you want to talk about one of the
long time guys in the business.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
He didn't you give you an award or something?

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Gave me the most the award for playing with the
most layer at the highest basketball camp at one point.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Not efficiency do you have a little Jason Williams your
game or what little white chocolate?

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Yes, but it was a double order.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
It would be a double order in the white chocolate
if you're talking about me as a as a youngster
messing around in that basketball camp and not earning necessarily
in that invite back. It was one of those of like, hey,
we really appreciate it. There's other great basketball camps in game.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
They wanted to make sure the check was going to
cash and then they said here's your yeah, coach, class
is a smart one. Good like it was a cash
only good good luck in your football career, young head.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
That's what the That's what they said to you.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
We appreciate your contributions to the program. I think was
a part of it, and we got a lot of
fun for you.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
Here.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Our pregame show is brousted by Kelvin Restoration. Why repair
when you can restore Kelman Restoration? There is a difference

the other side, we'll have the starting lineups and more

the new Berlin Eisenhower Lady Lyons going up against the
Wolverines from Waukeshaw West right here in Fox Sports nine

(08:04):
twenty in your iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Welcome back as we are courtside.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
At Walla Tosa West High School for a girls state
Sectional semi final, the Waukeshaw West Wolverines taking on the
new Berlin Eisenhower Lions. I'm Bully Schmid alongside big time
Mike McGivern and our starting lineups and more.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Brought to you by Citizens Bank.

Speaker 3 (08:27):

in Muskego on Jamesville Road. This close to tip off, Mike,
how excited are these two coaches and these two teams
to get ready?

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Yeah, you can look at both teams. Their benches are
ready to go. The fans.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
It's a great crowd, man.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Another thing I love about this time You get to
a big gym like Coast West, and the student sections
are good, and the parents and auntuonk.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Here we are off and running New Berlin. Eisenhower starts
with the basketball. They win the tip ball controlled right
away by Autumn.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Tens passes it inside a couple of steps down low
rejected on the.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Way up there as a lot of Mainville is up
underneath the basket. Double team closed and Waukeshaw West has
it on the other side. End zone view for your
broadcast team.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
A steal.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Megan McDonald runs, Hey, she's got the first deuce of
a night. Good patience there Mike looked like she was
potentially gonna get some contact on them.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Yep, laying Yeah, she's got uh, she's got the The
thing on her face is to protect her numbs out.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
I know that one of their best players. I think
that was heard that was out of the concussion for
a couple of games and uh going.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
Up, Yeah, very much so missed three by Natalie Bloom
offensive board for the Wolverines. Baseline drive five foot or
contacted on the way up. Foul is gonna come against.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
McDowell of the Lions, and Ava Spratt is going to
be the one going to the foul line. Spratt's first
attempt short shooting throws a little over forty percent of here.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
So Megan McDowell.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
Had a concussion a couple of games that go near
the end of the game, and she went up and
got fouled and hit her head.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
And so it's good to see that she's back.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
She's their leading scorer and she's the one that offensively
really helps them.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Says at the top of the circle, off of the
pair of missus by Spratt at the foul line. So
an empty trip foul not an issue. Lions have it
stop the dribble at the elbow, kick it back out
has has it reset the offense.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Very patient And look, I've seen Joe klat since teams
over the years, and if he's got kids that can
get up and go, he goes. And if he got
his kids that can go half court, he goes half court.
He's uh, he's got a lot of wins.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Man.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
It always helps to be able to adapt to your
personnel at the baseline. Attempt is missed here by the
Lions on McDowell. On the other side, it's Spratt working
her way inside the.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Lane. Cook with the right hand makes it too too.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Two minutes underway here inside of the jim Atosa West
Trojans hosting the Wolverines and the Lions.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
Yeah, talk talking to coach Darling with Peyton heizel out,
he said, look, she does so many things for us
on both sides of the floor. It's can be tough
to play without her. But they're gonna, you know, next
man up, as we say in every sport, right, Yeah,
no doubt about it.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
Johansson's drive was just stopped there at the she tried
to penetrate the lane. Now the offense goes to the
parient mcdowald's drive cut off. Good defense being able to
slow down some of these drives, and now a traveling
to be called against Mainville inside the painted area and
a turnover.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Well, it's a tough spot to be in.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Eisenhower was very patient on the offensive side, both student
sections having some fun here, drive inside, contact on the
way up, halfway down and out merely in and one
for the Trojans as Jordan Fenski, their leading scorer, had
the drive and she had a lane with the right hand.

(12:35):
But she's gonna get two file shots. Mike one hundred
and fourteen makes it the charity stripe this year. One
hundred and thirty one attempts eighty seven percent for Fenski,
and she knocks down the first.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
You add my percentage to your percentage, you probably well,
Keegan Man, Keegan might be a little bit.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Better than us, but we might get close. We might
get close, except her, she knocks down the.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Pair makes it four too olds, and now patiently the
Lions will bring it. Across early stages of a game
like this, eve been waiting all week for it, kind
of feeling out process of what you expect from the
two teams.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Very much so.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
And look, both teams offensively showing a lot of patients.
And I know new Berule and Eisenhower showed that kind
of patience all year long and just trying to get
something going to the basket. Don't shoot a ton of freeze.
Oh there's one just right on cue.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Megan McDowell catches one on the perimeter and knocks down
a triple.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
You're pretty happy to have her back, Huh, No doubt
about it.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
She had a couple of baseline or drives that got
cut off right at the block. Looked a lot better
from the perimeter on that one. Five to four lions
all down onto the other side as Spratt has it
at the top of the circle, gives off into the corner.
That's bloom. That's a dribbler way out of there. It
got a little dicey, now, Spratt long that was deep

(13:58):
with a deep at seven five walk a shaw west.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
All right, here we go. Now we're talking. The nerves
are gone, and now we're just gonna play ball. Good
feet inside.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
McDowell has it, She gets it poked away, bodies hit
the floor, a lot of contact, and the Lions have
it still inside the offensive zone. McDowell to Tes into
the corner. She'll dribble it out. Lane opens up, kick
off to a three left wing two strong. Tess gets
the offensive board. She'll drive it around the baseline and
it poked away. Good defensive play there by Fenski to

(14:30):
be able to stall the momentum there for a moment.
Now Joe Hanson's gonna inbound the basketball nearly to a
count of five. Test gets it at the block, now
backs it up, works again, Sprat giving up a couple
of inches because drives by to the right side, kicks
back over to Johanson top of the key. Tes has

(14:54):
it in the corner, looking for something towards.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
The bats, running a five out offensively and just trying
to get a back cut. Tosa West do a nice
job of keeping somebody in the middle of the lane
and taking away all the.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Backs as his pass goes right through the legs of
Alana Mainville, and that's a quick turnover for the Lions.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
Seven to five. Now, well, Wolverines with the basketball.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Five minutes in here and Tosa West Sectional semifinals couple
of games away from getting to the state tournament.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
Ooh boy, yeah, winner is gonna play the winner of
the National West appere Oh good.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
Inside feed Fenski found Kaylin Foster and she drops in
the deuce, gets into a nine to five advantage for
Waukeshaw West.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
I think Dowell drives loses it, Piegan bounder are.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
Stat Oh almost two touches with the right hand and
pull it into the other scorers table alongside. Luckily, Rob
Reischell crowds on that far grandfather Mike brother Beckett and
made that catch. I'll tell you Beckett definitely, what have happened?

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Fenske misses that one off left side.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Now the Lions will run, try to get something going
in the midst of this that they've been very patient
on the offensive side being able to get up and run.
That was coming off of steel to start the game,
and that's how they got their first lead. Now it's Mainville.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
We're going on.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Fenske double comes drive cut off three on the way
for the Lions.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Rolls off right.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
When Fenske pulls down the board to control and bring
it into the offensive zone for Waukeshaw West.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Good help Sprad drives cut.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Off miss on the feed off to Foster nearly poked
it away from the Lions, but instead Eisenhower will control
main it drives at the right hand.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Here's see some space, here's some contacts. You'll go on
the line for two.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
She's been there a couple of times, Mike, and that
time was finally able to get the shot off, lost
it one time, had the drive cut off, and that
time earns herself at trips to the charity strike.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Yeah, you bet.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
And she saw the opening and what Walkson West had
been doing really well is keeping somebody in the lane
to take away that that drive, but nobody was there.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
And and she took it right down and Landy got filed.
Hit that first free throw.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Eleven to go here in the opening quarter, opening half
pardon me as mc McDowell knocks down in the pair.
Makes it a nine to seven game. Here now applies
a little bit of yeah corporate.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
Three quartercore one three one or one two two, just
kind of a tempo press, just to.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
Try to be able to speed a mudttle bit of pressure.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
And if Foster gets a shot on the block, can't convert,
goes off the backboard.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
And now the Eisenhower Lions run.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
You know what exactly what Klaus who was looking for
to speed him up a little bit, get in, get
out of that patient offense.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
McDowell fires a three, no good, but a rebound comes
with the Lions, nearly a double dribble. Instead a wild
hookshot goes arrantly off to the right side. Spratt grabs
the rebound for the Wolverines. I mean, here comes walk
of Shaw West. Kick off into the corner. Thought about
a three baseline drive cut off, appears right into the
lane and gets the deuce. That is a good pass,

(18:32):
good cut as well, great cut.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
You're right, perfect timing on that for Walk Show West.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Sorry teammate have the drive being cut off. Go and
make yourself available when deuce becomes available. Eleven to seven
ball game ten and a half to go in the
opening half. Here Tosa West feed inside as being cut
off right there was Kayleie Griffith boy.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
Walk Show West is a nice job of weak side defense.
Two girls in the lane trying to take away any
back door, any cut.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
Lauren Nutt nearly had a good opportunity for a back
door cut. Instead it was cut off. Now it's McDowell
top of this left wing drive cut off, no good
off the right side looked like she's trying to force
the issue there at the end of that possession, Yep,
driving inside has sprat her righty layup no good, cleans

(19:29):
up her own mess.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Time out.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
It's the Wolverines up six, largest lead for either team
at thirteen to seven, nine nine to go here in
the opening half thirty second time.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
I will take one as well. On Fox Sports nine
to twenty, Welcome back to the high school basketball game
of the week.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
Were sent about your logo Pick and Save and Metro
Market stores tip off of tonight's game. I was brought
to you by a Current Electric home of the Superheroes.
For any all of you your electrical needs, go to
call Current dot com Lion's meeting a little bit of electricity.
Here on the offensive side, they've been a little stagnant
as of late. Down six, early nine and a half

(20:12):
minutes to go here in the opening half into the corner,
now driving out and cut off, and before the travel
comes a held.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Ball on the block. I don't know where they were
gonna go with that one on the drive.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
No, me neither, and I don't think clause it's too
happy with that, So I the couse. It takes a
time out for new Berlin. Eisenhower walkshow West comes out
for one possession. I believe in the zone, so whenever
he was gonna run, I used to do that a
little bit, make sure that if he's setting up a play,
we're gonna just change up the defense and we'll just

(20:44):
I would assume that Wakshaw West is.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Gonna come back into a man now and they are.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
Veteran coach over a walk show West, and Clauson's more
veteran than.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Any of us, the chess calling him old. Yeah, no,
I'm gonna tell him you did that.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
After in the game, not under nine minutes to go,
Eisenhower looking for a backdoor cut and has it poked away,
nearly saved, and instead it goes to the Wolverines.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
It's a great question, Mike. I think it was gonna
be off the Wolverines.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Ye.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Now, Walkshaw West has into the offensive zone with a lead,
and they still have the majority of their starting lineup.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
In Yeah, McDowell. Offensive foul coming against Fenske.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
Is McDowell's taking off the headgear. I think she's like done,
I'm I'm taking it off. I don't care about doubt question.
She took it off pick that facial guard off here
quickly tried, she said, no, get it. I missed a
couple of shots.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
Get it off. Good for her. Bridge Biscouding was the
one that saved that ball that Mike was wondering about.
She has now exited the game for the Lions.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
Anything you do travel comes as Lauren Nutt was just
trying to drive the lane and it's a couple too
many steps before she put the hard very.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Calmly Joel Claus and said, go take it. A quick
take it. Take the lane. It was wide open and
he just wants them to get get some things going
to the basket.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
It's Brad drive kit cut off by a nice double
team and a steal there by Kayleie Griffith hal Eisenhower
runs in, McDowell.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Tries, She's rejected by Fenske gets the on board.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Now Jordan Fenski runs for a Wolverines fires into the
corner pump a three dangerous cross scord pass. Now having
it is Natalie Bloom thought about it inside feed and said,
gets it right back. Penske wants it, got it at
the elbow and kicks off to a three misses everything
nearly an offensive board by bloom Is.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
She ran baseline to try to catch what looked like
a putt billy.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
We've been at thirteen to seven for about three minutes
a time out.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
Yeah, I think it's important from New Berlin Eisenhower, New
Berlin Eisenhower to get.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
A bucket here. They have not scored in a bit.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
One of those times where if you're Eisenhower, it's not
gone the way you would have liked, but you are
only two possessions out of this, like you mentioned, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
They feel a little bit discombobulated offensively right now and
walks your west defensively is taking them out some of
the things they're used to getting.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
At the top of the circle, resets the offense for
the lions. Inside McDowell could passing a nearly better finish
as it just rolls off. Oh wow, that was a
nice pick and roll and a beautiful pass inside just.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
Everything, but to finish there, Mike, Yeah, they're starting to
frustrate McDowell a little bit here and she needs to
get one to go.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
Throwing a lot of bodies at her wild pass by Fenske,
he finds the mark nearly a problem. Instead, the wolverines
have it now. A three goes off right side defensive
board comes.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
For the Lions. Mainville with a great blockout there.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
Yeah, no doubt on a Mainville back into the game.
She heads into the corner now.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Inside good caught in an even better finished time for
Maya Joeansen, so new Berlin Eisenhower and now they've spread
the floor a little bit better and they're taking that
defensive player that's in the middle of the lane from
Waukershaw West out.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
Said Alaris has it for the Lions. Off a miss
by the Wolverines. It's a thirteen to nine lead here
for Waukeshaw West, has Eisenhower hanging around here.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
With six oh six to go in the opening half.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
If you're just joining us, plenty of time, sit back
and enjoy six oh six to go in the opening half.
Billy Schmid and Mike mcgifven for the pick and say
Basketball Game of the Week Sectional semi Final as Eisenhower
trails Waukeshaw West currently thirteen to nine with the basketball.
Mainville in the Corns, ribbling it out, working against Jordan

(25:03):
Fenski has been a force for the Wolverines.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
Here.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
Early Mainville's drive cut off at the block. Sod Lars
three from straight on knocks it down and makes it
a one point game.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
Well, we talked about a couple of possessions ago New
Berlan Nin's and our had to get a bucket right
there at stuck at seven, and now they're rolling.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
Last two possessions Spratt cut off, travels before she can
pass it away.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
And now Eisenhower in the midst of a five zero
run with five twenty seven to go here in the
opening half, Mike and go and take the lead.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
What a flip of momentum here, Yeah, very.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
Much so again offensively made a little bit of adjustment,
spreading the floor a little bit more and trying to
get things again off, you know, going to the basket
and getting kids coming off screens.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
And they've been pretty successful with the last two possessions.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
Tez cut off, Mainville has it inside, turn around, can't
get it to go a little bit strong. That's good
defense on the drives, passes it into the corner. Now
I think Fenske's gonna want it right back, so that's
a good ball. Screen comes back to get it nearly
stolen away kick to Spratt three.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Boom, oh, too strong.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
Offensive board comes for the Wolverines. Fenski will reset it
inside feed poked away by McDowell. She got a little
greedy there, a little bet man, a little frustrated with
herself on that pass.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Four and a half.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Minutes to go here in the first thirteen to twelve
Eisenhower looking to take the lead. There in the midst
of a five to zero run, Johnson gives off sod
Lars just knocked down a triple. Now pass it over
to Johansen. She gets it stolen away. Spratt running all alone,
laying with the left hand is good. Back to a

(26:53):
three point lead. In Waukeshaw. West gets threatened but just
edges it right back out there. Four minutes to go
here in the first.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
Man man defense kick him in the corner, pass poked away,
Lions regain possession.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
McDowell right wing. She's knocked down a triple from there.
Has really liked that right side drive, but he said
it's test at the top of the key. Three forty
five to go here in the first it's a three
point game. Good switch there on the ball Mainville one
as she converts with.

Speaker 4 (27:27):
The right hand, good feed, a better strong finished there
by Alana Mainville. Yeah, I've played basketball with her daddy.
She's better basketball player than he would He wouldn't have
been able to convert through that time, Yeah, and he'd
still be complaining about the foul. And Tom Mainville one
of the true good guys in this year, that softball player. Yeah,

(27:51):
really used to be the president and nairy, good guy,
very proud of his his daughters.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
I can tell you that he's.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
Definitely proud of that. And one is she converts it
with the trip to the foul line. Fifteen up, three
point thirty to go. Here in the opening half, Spratt
has fired a couple from downtown. Instead, she passes it back,
gets it, eyes it up, now fires into the corner.
We're going to try to get it inside defense, and
she's got a height advantage inside.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
They just haven't been able to feed it down low.
Good drive, Moro stepping to the cup. The foul I
believe is gonna be on the way up, and that's
gonna send to the foul line.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
I believe Sprat gonna go to the foul line, knocks
it down. Good trip to the line.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
As she knocks down a pair, it's seventeen fifteen as
they have a sprat gives the lead once again to
Wakashaw West has has it top of the key, kickoff
three on the way, Johansson two short, nearly converts instead.
Eisenhower still knocking at the door trying to get that

(29:10):
lead back.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
They had at to nothing and that's.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
The last time they've held the advantage. Henske has it,
trying to feed it inside, can't now it's backed up.
Kayln Foster has it right wing Billy.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
This has been a really well refed game.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
I don't I don't say that a lot, but the
never flow I do, I do, come on, man, I
do sometimes, but I got to give these guys and.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
The boys are refing the game initiated game. There you
go these but the flow of the game has been really,
really good.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
There's six total fouls. These these refs been doing a
great job here tonight.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
Frankly, they just I don't even call it more travels
than they have fouls in that moment, And like you said,
that's what you want at this time of year. Oh
wild pass by Ted's goes into the Waukashaw West bench.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
She just cannot get over the top. Yeah. Seventeen fifteen.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
West holds the lead again and they have been threatened,
no doubt about it. West coming in winners of their
last five games, including a win against the rival Watchlan
Wes Hayton.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
Heisl on the bench with her with her leg up,
and man, she just you know what, she wants to
be out there so bad, and she's it's.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Also got to be in quite a bit of pain.
That's a rather recent injury. There's a smile. Now, that'll
be a smile. And as Taylor Foster drives, the lane
finishes with the right back to a four point lead.
Back to a two possession lead. Now for the Wolverines.
Johansen drives clear some space. She's re checked by Foster.
Good contest. Now they'll get it to Fenski and with

(30:49):
a minute thirty five to go, fire it up ahead.
That's Taylor Gifford. Gifford now cut off sprat three boot
sit down and now it's the largest lead of the
game for either side. After a seven oh run by
the Wolverines, this thing got tied at fifteen. Now it's

(31:09):
twenty two to fifteen. Walkershaw West tes drive. She slices
her way through two West defenders, converts a while and one.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Oh. The Wolverine defenders couldn't believe it.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
Yeah, I never needed that, no doubt about it, that
one kissed high off the glass.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
Tes goes to the foul line to try to finish
off v and one oh, what a swing of momentum
that would be. She converts it right back to a four.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
Point game, and they're again back to that one to
one three one one two two, And I.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
Was gonna say a loose one three one.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
Yeah to one three one, and they're getting flushed and
yelling that they want as they're close to a timeline violation.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
Instead, Walkshaw West gets it ahead. Gifford finds herself all
along good past the foster. She converts it on the
left side, gets back to a six point lead twenty
four to eighteen. Johansson, cut off on the baseline, has
to dish it away. She's fouled as just a little
too handsy, did Ava satan Wiser get She's called for

(32:21):
her first personal just a fourth poule on waka Shaw West.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Only she liked that call much after I picked great things.
I thought he was a good call.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
I did too, getting a little aggressive on the cutoff there,
des drives. She kicks off to mainvilt thought about a
three instead. With thirty five seconds, drives the land against Venske.
Tries to convert with the left hand, can't get it
to roll down. Now, West fires into the front port
Gifford spinning left side, kicking off to a three too

(32:53):
strong rebound on the floor. On the rebound, loose ball
comes against Tay Gifford for the Wolverine.

Speaker 4 (33:01):
Coach Darling's looking pointing to it like he has a
watch on to his player saying, hey, look at the time,
we didn't need that shot, and then.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Very encouraging sand let's just play Degan stop.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
Wolverines have gotten up the floor and really pushed the issue.
They just haven't been able to convert enough.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
Right here we go down as with eight seconds to go,
cut off now at five, kicks off into the corner.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
It's poked away by Fenski. At two.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
She has to fire at one, just gets it off
a home elbow and can't convert. So it's a twenty
four to eighteen Wolverine lead after one half of play.
Here in the sectional semi finals at Wallatosa West High School,
back in a couple of minutes from. Right now, it's
a twenty four to eighteen lead for the Wolverines. At

(33:47):
the break, you're listening to the high school Basketball Game

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Where the difference really is the dealer Big Time. Hey.
We are joined by Sergeant Dumeyer along with his daughter Everly. Sargeant.
How you've been, I've been good. I'll be you man good.
I told you I'm getting a little nervous. The end
of April.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
I'm going to San Diego to go to the I
tell people I'm going to the US Marine boot camp
and they look at me like I'm out of my mind.
There are some things I can get get involved in
things I probably won't get involved in.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
I'm hoping that they pick you to come on that
trip with us. Yeah, I hope.

Speaker 6 (34:51):
So.

Speaker 5 (34:51):
San Diego's beautiful and I would do anything to go
back to boot camp. Probably one of the best times
of my life. Really, yeah, one hundred percent. I mean
it's very easy. You know what to do every day.
The weather's absolutely beautiful and there's no place else, so
you're gonna go on hikes and shoot guns and you
get to learn how to fight and do all this
different stuff.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
I get to pick and uh, I'm looking at some
of the stuff. I'm gonna do the hand to hand combat,
I'm gonna shoot the guns.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
I'm not sure I'm gonna do the rope climb thing.
Oh you should, No, I really shouldn't. You should? I
really should.

Speaker 4 (35:20):
If if Billy Schmidt would come with me shirtless, yeah sure. Yeah,
if it's dark and nobody's around, maybe you know. I'm
telling you not doing shirtless for anybody. I'm excited about it,
and what's cool about it? People ask why you doing it?
Because I get a chance to interview you guys like
you each week and then when I'm doing my high

(35:42):
school show, I'm talking to high school kids every single
week in studio, and and and this thing makes a
lot of sense. And I appreciate the invite a lot
to be able to go and just get a feel
for what that's like, and and then to be able
to come back and go on the air and talk
about it. A friend of ours, Billy Listen with K
from ninety nine point one, did it and I talked

(36:03):
to her about it. She said, Mack, it's life changing.
And I said really. She said, Look, my step son's
a US Marine and I wanted to know what he
went through. And she said the things that in my soul,
what I learned, and how proud I am of our country.
I'm still carrying this and she I was going back
and forth whether I wanted to do this, and she said,

(36:24):
you have to go do it and hang out with
these guys. And I understand that when I get off
the bus and I walked on those yellow steps, people
are gonna be yelling at me and they said, just
don't take a swing anybody. You're not doing hand to
hand combat at that point. But I'm really looking forward
to it. You're the first guy who said, look who
camp for me was easy and I would.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Do anything to do it again.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
Yeah, I wouldn't say it was easy, but I would
definitely say that it was. It was one of the
best times in my life. I mean, you meet, you
meet brothers and sisters there and the drone structors bulled
you from I mean really from a young boy to
you know, you leave a man, and the way your
family looks at you when you leave Argy Cauld.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
I ask you one of the things that that I'm
gonna be there for his graduation. What was that like
for you?

Speaker 6 (37:10):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (37:10):
I was terrified.

Speaker 5 (37:11):
I'd never shaved my head before, so I didn't want
my family to see me bald. But also it's I
don't know, it's something that you really can't explain, just
like when you earn your eglobe and anchor, you really
can't explain it.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
You just have to go through it and see it
and do it. We was in an emotional time for you.

Speaker 5 (37:26):
Yeah, so when I earned my eglobe and anchor is
very emotional. That's where you know every marine cries. But
graduation was kind of the same thing because that's the
first time my family seen me for three months and
they said I was completely different. You know, my father
was proud of me and my grandfather he was a marine.
We stood on the same yellow footprints together and to
earn the same title, you know that he did was

(37:47):
just absolutely phenomenal.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
Un hey man, thank you so much for these works.
I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully I come back in
one piece.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
Brother. We'll talk to you at the end of the game. Yeah,
I have a good one. Play a whole lot of
a second. He'll take carry you. Yeah, they will take care.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
You get it.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
You get it to a break. I don't want him
to throw in his head, set down. Oh no, you're
all good. Listen.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
That US marine. He knew exactly what he was doing.
We were we were locked and loaded. We're in a
big time battle here with a sectional semi final. A
couple of minutes left here at halftime, and we'll bring
you the second half right after this. Waukashaw West and
New Berlin Eisenhower on Fox Sports nine twenty.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
In Your iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
High school Basketball Game of the Week presented about your
local Pig and Save and Metro Market stores on Fox
Sports nine twenty.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
In Your iHeart radio app.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
We're in the sectional semi finals of the girls basketball
Tournament Division two, watching Wauka Shaw West take on New
Berlin Eisenhower. Eisenhower the one seed in this sectional here
big time, but right now they trail by six twenty
four eighteen.

Speaker 1 (38:50):
As we start in the second half.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
Yeah, I would love to be a fly the wall
in both flock groups, right. You know, if you're Wall,
if you're Walkshaw West, just hid to keep doing we're doing.
You hit some more open shots. Walkshaw West comes out
first possession in the zone again. Coach Darling been around
in a while, making sure they're a little bit uncomfortable
over it.

Speaker 1 (39:11):
New Berlin Eisenhower.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
Really aggressive two three zone to start it on up
they're almost drifting that middle middle up into the free
throw line. Kick off to Johansson in the corner. She
knocks down a triple. Well answers the zone with three.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Coach Darling is not going to play that zone much anymore.
I can think of stand back and man the man
one possession.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
He's just one possession getting when he thinks out of
rhythm for a little bit, and then see if they
can't get a bucket on this end.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
Here's the drive Gifford cut off. She was the leading
scorer with nine in the first half for Waukeshaw West.
Now fires it off into the corner. Spratt has it
right wing. Gifford's drive cut off, poked away by McDowell.
She led the Eisenhower Lions with seven and also with

(39:59):
the one unifor change. Started the game with a facial
guard instead, took that bad boy off, took that mask off.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
Send Nope, I'm the first stoppage back to a mand
a man as I thought, Coach Charlie, we do Wakshaw
West and quickly a bounce inside of McDowell.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
She's nearly fouled on the way up. Finishes the job anyway,
and that's a start.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
Five to nothing.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
Advantage here in the second half makes it a one
point game and the Wolverines habit. Gifford drives right, tries
to take Mainville off the dribble. She's cut off at
the right block, stolen away. McDowell has it.

Speaker 1 (40:33):
She's foul on the ground and Boster just got a
little bit loose with the ball there. Huge possession right now.

Speaker 4 (40:39):
It's been a while since the first opening minute of
the game when Eisenhewer's up to nothing. They've not been
able to get over the top. They've gotten it to
other and one a couple of times have not gotten
over the top to get the lead.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
The big possession for them right here, tied it.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
At fifteen, and then a quick seven to nothing spurt
by the Wolverines. Walkshaw west right back out in front.
Tess has it right wing, looking inside in main field.
Now has it stolen away as her pass was wide
into the hands of Foster. Penske has it, tries to
push the pace, gives off into the corner Foster nearly

(41:14):
an and one rolls off front iron.

Speaker 1 (41:16):
But she's gonna get two.

Speaker 3 (41:17):
Free throws and be rewarded for her defensive work on
the offensive side.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
Good question as to lie on that, Yeah, you know what?
And Foster the first you know they they they had
things going in. What she don't want to do is
force it, and that's what she did.

Speaker 1 (41:39):
And now they're down two and got a chance to
take the lead again or tie it to be big
for them.

Speaker 3 (41:46):
Two minutes into the second half, McDowell drives the lane,
finishes with her right hand and as Mike predicted it's
a twenty five twenty five game.

Speaker 4 (41:55):
Yeah, they've changed a little bit offensively instead of five
out with with just.

Speaker 1 (42:00):
Back door there. They're running some curl action, getting good looks.
Fensky wild playing with the right hand.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
She finishes as she hits the floor, puts Wakeshaw west
right back out in front. Johansen thought about a deep
triple instead, will work some offense here. Five out for
the Lions, has drives, cut off kick to Mainville, three
hangs away, two short rebound comes to script look and

(42:28):
the Wolverines good corner, three opportunity for Eisenhower. Instead, Fenski
steps into a triples right when the Lions tie it
at twenty five, it's thirty twenty five is Fensk has
a quick five nothing run three minutes into the second
half and the Lions and Wolverines going at it. Jordan

(42:54):
Fensky fantastic there in the first half, really good point guard,
being able to push the pace and scoring a little
bit on the last two possessions.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Now top of the circle, working for it.

Speaker 3 (43:08):
Sodlars gives off to Johansson mind Johansen bounces it inside.
Sodalars bounced and she stepped out and bounds before being
able to fire that one to McDowell. Baseline coach Classon
very frustrated on that sideline looks to be giving some
encouragement to his assistant coaches. It appeared encouragement right now, Yes, yes,

(43:32):
into the corner has Taylor Gifford with it, working against
this Eisenhower defense. Mainville cuts off the drive, swats away
does McDowell Foster's lay in attempt.

Speaker 1 (43:45):
Oh, that was a block like you do in grade school.

Speaker 4 (43:48):
When you're about a foot taller than the person you're
playing one on one against.

Speaker 1 (43:51):
Let a drive and then swat it from behind it.
She turned her head and got beat back doors. So
you know, it's pretty lucky that she was able to
swat it because that was a him coming.

Speaker 3 (44:00):
Gifford drive cut off missus, the shot puts it back
and one good work by Taylor. Gifford sticks with it
after a misattempt, converts draws the contact and now it's
a seven oh run for the Wolverines and could be
an eight oh run if Gifford can convert this. An
one here with fourteen minutes to go, rolls halfway down

(44:24):
and out and main Bille grabs it for the Lions.

Speaker 1 (44:29):
Joe Hanson into the corner.

Speaker 3 (44:31):
How difficult is it to make sure that you don't
get out of sorts here offensively for the Lions? As
McDonald fires a three wrong, I think that shows right there,
loose ball.

Speaker 1 (44:40):
She had a good whole way at Waka Shaw West.
She had a good look.

Speaker 4 (44:44):
Look, it's important that that new Berlin and Eisenhower stays
and continue to do the things that they do. Yeah,
they've got to do better on this side of the floor.
They've got to get a couple of stops and only
give up one shot, no offensive rebounds, Give them one
shot and see if we can't score on the other end.

Speaker 3 (45:03):
Gifford trapped and nearly dribbles it into her own corner instead.

Speaker 1 (45:07):
Spratt has in the corner. Her three is blocked by McDowell.

Speaker 3 (45:11):
She gets her own board, nearly puts it back in,
but it looked like she was fouled on the way up.
No call Lyon's habit now, Tez. Her drive is cut off.
Giantson fires over to McDowell three left wing short.

Speaker 4 (45:26):
She's got to step into that shot. She's leaning back
a little bit. Fenski wanted Gifford to run right to
the cup. Instead, Gifford has it, gets filed on the
way up. Don't know who that one's gonna go against,
and they will call it.

Speaker 3 (45:44):
Against sid Lars, her second who she was the second
to the party. Mainville looked like she had Gifford cut off,
and then sid Lars came in and.

Speaker 1 (45:56):
Took Gifford to the floor. She misses the first free throw.
Looks to be a little maybe.

Speaker 3 (46:02):
Not affected from that fall, but still trying to gather
herself a little bit from it.

Speaker 1 (46:07):
Yeah, she's a really good basketball players. Yeah, no doubt
about it, Mike.

Speaker 3 (46:15):
I think Gifford five or six different times just found
herself into the right spot onto the offensive side. That
one bounces too strong. Fenskei nearly has a great offensive
board in between two players.

Speaker 1 (46:25):
Main said.

Speaker 3 (46:26):
Mainville misses that three from the left side. McDonald gets
the board, wild layup, no good rebound me and fought
for McDonald gets it into the corner.

Speaker 1 (46:35):
TZ three on the way way down and out.

Speaker 4 (46:39):
Boy, they needed that in Bainville. Where their second foul.
Oh you know they're getting decent looks, Yeah they are.
They got to continue to play good defense and I
can't stress it enough.

Speaker 1 (46:51):
Give up one shot.

Speaker 4 (46:53):
Wakshaw West has done pretty well at the offensive rebounds
and new Berlan Eisenow's got to do a better job,
but only give it up one shot.

Speaker 3 (47:01):
Gifford works against Mainville top of the key, working inside
his fenskeys.

Speaker 1 (47:08):
She's trying to get Tez.

Speaker 3 (47:10):
They just got a big height advantage over there, and
they're trying to get an entry pass inside. Can't do
it now, Spread has it right wing. Gifford straight on
three rolls off and Penske's gonna be called for an
over and over the back great box out, Yeah, no
doubt about it, giving up a couple of inches, and
as I mentioned during that possession, Penske's trying to take

(47:31):
advantage of her size and instead her size ends up
drawing a file because of a good, just clean box out.
Twelve minutes to play here thirty two to twenty five
the count as the Lions have led it at two
nothing and then have tied it at fifteen up twenty
five up, each time has been answered by a seven

(47:53):
zero run by the Wolverines. Less defensively man the man
very patient offense for the Lions here eleven thirty to
go driving trying to finish, and they newly entered Kaylee.
Griffith is fouled on the drive and she's gonna go
to the line for a pair seventy six and a

(48:16):
half percent on the season from the charity stride.

Speaker 1 (48:19):
You know.

Speaker 4 (48:19):
Coach Clauston's he has gotten his team byt of that
five out and he's running almost to swing.

Speaker 1 (48:26):
And and they've gotten some good looks out of it.
I'm my thought is he's probably.

Speaker 4 (48:32):
Gonna get back to that five out here in a
minute if if they don't get it a little bit closer.

Speaker 3 (48:37):
Griffith knocks down the pair, makes it a five point game. Yeah,
feels a little patient for this point in the game,
but you want to keep running your stuff.

Speaker 1 (48:46):
You got plenty of.

Speaker 4 (48:47):
Time, correct yep, And Eisenhower into his zone, passes off
the hands on the turnover.

Speaker 3 (48:55):
Grifford Gifford as she has nearly fouled as she caught
it inside actual got that loose ball.

Speaker 4 (49:03):
Bonard just hung out. He took two dribbles. I would
have taken it from him for sure. He didn't dribble,
but he writes a lot better than he dribbles. The
five point game.

Speaker 3 (49:13):
Here is the Wolverines defensively locking down the Lions in
the second half.

Speaker 1 (49:18):
Johansson's drive is cut off.

Speaker 3 (49:21):
Racing into the front court comes Walkshaw West Spratt loses it.
A block called against Tez four Eisenhower. That was a
little bit late. It's her second.

Speaker 1 (49:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (49:39):
Both players are kind of smiling at each other, like, yeah,
it's a tough call.

Speaker 3 (49:48):
Coach Clawson wanted a quick explanation. Didn't seem to like
the explanation that he got. No, neither side seemed like
there was a great resolution there.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
S Gifford missus her shot in the goes and works
hard to get the rebound, puts it back up and
in and puts her Wolverines back up seven Yeah.

Speaker 3 (50:07):
Two Eisenhower players there and neither one Box Durow Taylor.
Gifford making a strong case to be our player of
the game.

Speaker 1 (50:14):
With the US Marines.

Speaker 3 (50:17):
On the other end, the Lions get the deuce right
back thirty four to twenty nine, ten thirty to go here.

Speaker 1 (50:23):
In the game a lot of time.

Speaker 3 (50:24):
Gifford has it against Mainville, patient now feeds off right side,
gets it back elbow. Spratt has it nearly poked away
by Johansson. Now into the corner, Spratt gets it back,
tries to drive against Griffith and about time out comes
right before a turn of Rokashaw West and you're right
right before a turnover. Perfect timing will take one as well.

(50:47):
Ten oh five to go in the ball game by
point game here on Fox Sports nine twenty in your
iHeartRadio app back at so So West High School. It's
high school basketball game of the Week, presented by your
local pick and Save and Metro market source on Fox
Sports nine twenty in your iHeartRadio app on. Billy Schmid
alongside Big Time Mike mcgibbern hanging bonner keeping a fantastic

(51:09):
book here as Walkinshaw West taking on the Eisenhower Lions.

Speaker 1 (51:14):
And big time Boxing won put.

Speaker 3 (51:17):
I'm just gonna say it looks like a little defensive
adjusting here out of the time out pays off as
Wolverines missed.

Speaker 4 (51:23):
There running to Boxing won, and I think Walkshaw West
a little surprised by that. We'll see what they they
run next time down. I would think Coach Plots is
gonna stay with that again. Boom McDowell, Rainbow three to zero.
Good Fenske grabs the rebound for the Wolverines. Now pushes
the intensity, draws a little bit of contact.

Speaker 1 (51:45):
McDowell hits the deck.

Speaker 4 (51:47):
Minsky picks up her dribble and gives it back off
to Gifford, who will slow it down.

Speaker 3 (51:51):
Nine and a half to go. They got a five
point lead. Biggest part of that is it's a two
possession lead.

Speaker 4 (51:57):
State back to straight man for New Guerlan eis an
hour and now Gifford cut off. Natalie Bloom has it
top of the circle all alone. I have a spratt.
She fires it in with the right hand. Great back
door cut way into the front court. Johansson's three too
strong comes for the Wolverine.

Speaker 1 (52:18):
Quick shot. Quick shot, Yeah, that is right away now.

Speaker 3 (52:23):
McDowell's backcard pressure draws a steal, gets a deuce. Time
out Joel Clawson full time out will take one as
well as the Eisenhower Lions are trying to work themselves
right back into it. Thirty six thirty one the count
on Fox Sports nine twenty, just under nine minutes to play.

(52:44):
It's thirty six thirty one, Waukeshaw West leading the New.

Speaker 1 (52:48):
Berlin Eisenhower Lions. Big time.

Speaker 3 (52:51):
Eisenhower just trying to keep themselves right into this thing,
and they've tied it up a couple of different times,
but keeping some distance here.

Speaker 4 (52:59):
Yeah, come out the one two two defense right now,
little zone trying to just continue.

Speaker 1 (53:05):
To frustrate walkshow West a little bit.

Speaker 3 (53:08):
Mixing it up after a successful trip in the box
and one inside the outcome and finishes.

Speaker 1 (53:13):
It off the left side.

Speaker 3 (53:15):
Great take and really good patient offense on both sides. Johansson,
she's cut off on the right block, has to give
it back over to test it's a ball screen and
now tries to drive right side.

Speaker 1 (53:29):
Cid Lars in the corner.

Speaker 3 (53:33):
Want to get it to McDowell instead just finding her
way inside with the basketball is more and Nutt looked
like she cut. She was cutting McDowell was maybe whose
sid Lars was trying to find there inside had a
different lion that made herself available. Cid Lars has it
inside off the entry pass too far under the bucket,

(53:55):
tes straight on three oh halfway down.

Speaker 4 (53:58):
And out rebound that sound again for two for her
just like that halfway down and popped out.

Speaker 3 (54:05):
Taylor Gifford grabs the rebound there in a sea of body.

Speaker 4 (54:09):
She she's soaring over everybody got her head down right now,
and if I'm wanted her teammates, I'm like keep shooting.

Speaker 1 (54:16):
They're halfway down. You're right there.

Speaker 3 (54:22):
Now, some full court pressure being applied as it's thirty
eight thirty one Waka Shaw West with a dangerous full
cord pass that's got a ten second violation. The Wolverines
were trying to pass it in right at the ten
second count and didn't get it off in time. So
good defense into the back court by coach Clawson and

(54:44):
company draws the turnover that they desperately need.

Speaker 1 (54:46):
Now, plenty of time.

Speaker 4 (54:48):
Here, plenty of time, but they they got to continue
to take care of the ball they're getting.

Speaker 1 (54:54):
They're getting good shots. They're not dropping.

Speaker 3 (54:58):
Seven and a half to go tat as it against
Ja Dollan.

Speaker 4 (55:01):
Now Gifford steals that one away, sent the pass with
a telegram and Taylor Gifford sends it in for the
largest lead on either side.

Speaker 3 (55:09):
Now it's a nine point lead for the Wolverines. Johansson
sid Lars tries to take it inside, bounces dude Johansson
into the corner. She keeps her dribble, luckily because she's
got to work against Spratt now picks it up, getting
trapped into the corner. Gives off to McDowell. Not a
whole lot of area to work with their onto the

(55:31):
far side, tennis drive short on the lay in rebound
comes deep three mit Nutt misses everything, and now Spratt
has it running for the Wolverines three on two.

Speaker 1 (55:42):
If she wants it, she'll back it up.

Speaker 4 (55:44):
Buy her overdue Natalie Bloom, who will slow it down offensively.

Speaker 3 (55:54):
Top of the circle comes Gifford. We're gonna work it inside,
fires back off right inside. Sprat drives a lot of concept.

Speaker 1 (56:03):
No whistle.

Speaker 3 (56:04):
Sid Lars comes up with the basketball and how the
Lions have it into the offensive zone. I don't know
how there wasn't a whistle there. Gives off to Joe
Hanson her rainbow three short boy. Benske just pulls that
rebound away and Waukeshaw West controls and slows. With six
point fifteen to play here in the game, in a

(56:25):
nine point lead on Q, McDowell intercepts that pass, drives
the other way. She's swatting from behind. Benskey takes it away.
Gifford up foul on the way up Joehanson wasn't gonna
let Taylor Gifford get that easy deuce and a double
digit lead, Gonna make her earn it at the charity
stripe and Waukeshaw West starting to flex a little bit

(56:48):
of muscle here. A couple of really good anticipatory defensive
plays on both sides there In that sequel.

Speaker 4 (56:55):
Taylor Gifford is, Uh, she's really having a game. I
can tell you fantastic. She knocks down that free throw,
Gifford with eighteen, trying to make it nineteen here.

Speaker 1 (57:13):
Misses off left side.

Speaker 3 (57:15):
McDowell pulls down the rebound, and how she races into
the front port fires over to Johansen.

Speaker 1 (57:20):
Boy, they need her bucket. Quick deuce is.

Speaker 3 (57:22):
No good forty one thirty one and now walking, y'all
West will slow it down. Fenski wants to push the
pace every time she touches.

Speaker 4 (57:31):
The mass, she does, which Darling had to put up
the stop sign there. Bloom has it left wing, now
kicks over, Sprad has it. Wants to get it inside
to Gifford. I'd want to get it inside to her too, Yeah,
to convert like she has especially here into the second half,
matching the nine she had in the first half, and

(57:51):
an offensive foul against Fensk.

Speaker 1 (57:54):
Hits the deck. That's her fourth.

Speaker 3 (58:00):
That's a notable moment her with four fouls as that
offensive I would go right at her. Yeah, no doubt
about it because she is enforced for them offensively as
she is.

Speaker 1 (58:12):
Tez has it driving does go right at her, gives
off to Mainville.

Speaker 4 (58:18):
She's fouled on the way up. A lot of Mainfeld
see it too. The same thing happened to Berlin Eisenewer
in the first half. They had about a six minute
spam where I think they scored twice.

Speaker 1 (58:29):
And this is what's happened here.

Speaker 4 (58:30):
They came out, came out of the locker room, they
scored the first five, they got it tied and I
don't think they've scored since Yeah wow, Yeah, and they
missed a free throw.

Speaker 1 (58:42):
Missed that first one.

Speaker 3 (58:43):
Does Mainville time out here are the Wolverines.

Speaker 1 (58:46):
It's gonna be a.

Speaker 3 (58:49):
Thirty second time out, Full time out, Full time out
here will take one as well, five to eleven to
go on Fox Sports nine to twenty in your iHeartRadio app,
Wauchashaw West leads at forty one to thirty one forty one,
with five to eleven to go Alta. Mainville gonna be
at the foul line here for the new Berlin Eisenhower

(59:10):
Lions as the Blaukashaw West.

Speaker 1 (59:13):
Wolverines leading the Lions here by ten.

Speaker 3 (59:16):
As Mainville's halfway down and out on that free throw,
West has it. They already have one ten second violation
just harassing defense in the back court. Mainville steals that pass,
sid Lars has it, gives over to Tes top of
the circle. Now it's Johanssen to Tes trying to get
it inside. Eisenhower gott to capitalize on this turnover, desperately

(59:39):
needing some to go right. They get a three on
the way by McDowell rolls off right side Spratt as
the board. Now Fenske controls offensively controls the loose term
as Giver trying to dribble it across midport. She's fouled
just as she gets across the timeline. And each team
had sixteen fouls going into that. That's the seventh show,

(01:00:02):
and that means a trip to the foul line for
Taylor Gifford. As the Wolverines go into the bonus.

Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
The ad from Walkshall West stopped by.

Speaker 4 (01:00:10):
He said, Hey, most of these girls on this team,
a number of them, five or six of them all
day worked with him on a leadership council and then
came here and uh, and are you know playing really
well that leadership council have anything to do with like
some lay up lines or anything.

Speaker 1 (01:00:26):
No, huh huh, I don't. I don't think so. He's
been a guest on Faith in the Zone, so I
don't think he'd lie to me. I'm just telling you maybe,
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:00:35):
That's good background four ten ago, Mike tough to not
be able to capitalize as Johanson misses that right side,
they get the turnover out of the break even off
the miss free throw, and now the backcourt pressure comes
and test fouls.

Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
Fenski.

Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
That felt like a real tipping point there. You know
your next file is gonna send him to the foul
line for the rest of the time. Great opportunity, even
off the miss, to be able to trim that margin,
just unable to capitalize.

Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
Yeah, offensively New Berlin Eisenow. When they look back at
this game, if they end up losing this game, it's
gonna be there's three or four threes that they've had
that right half time, halfway down and popped out, and
there's not The ball bounces home sometimes in the wrong way.

Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
Right Fensky.

Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
Knocks down the first free throw, makes it an eleven
point advantage year for right, biggest leave of the game,
biggest leave for either team here at eleven, now twelve.
As Spensky came into the game averaging just under fourteen
a night, she currently after just two in the first half,

(01:01:45):
has really picked up. Dwal finally gets something to drop
an eight footer from the baseline. Now with steel Tez
has it and little something here for the Lions as
Johansson drives, misses everything with that layup, but now Fenske
has it.

Speaker 1 (01:01:58):
Passing into the front court to faster and slow the role.
Come the Wolverines.

Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
Spratt's square to the basket, and you could hear almost
every parent on the Walk Show West sideline say no,
not yet.

Speaker 4 (01:02:12):
They're trying to drill, dragging down some clock. Foster cut
off Gifford all alone inside.

Speaker 3 (01:02:18):
She'll convert that one, making a twelve point game with
three sixteen to play.

Speaker 1 (01:02:24):
Walk Show West comes back into his zone up.

Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
Twelve and now really forcing the issue, says, thought about
a three. If you're Eisenhower, you're gonna have to start
taking some of these sid lars misses. That one rebound
comes down to Jordan Fensky. She'll dribble it across the timeline,
weaves her way into the front court.

Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Contacts and foul coming against the Lions.

Speaker 4 (01:02:50):
Even though Fenske took the initiative on that contact, it
appear very much so. And she's got four. She's got
four file gutsy on her part, but got the following.
She's going to the free throw line up twelve with
two forty nine to go.

Speaker 3 (01:03:04):
Well also knows the knows a skill that she has
shooting free throws as she boom knocks down that one
came in tonight, Mike shooting eighty seven percent and part
of where she's done a lot of her work here
into the second half. Right now, she's got eight in
the second half. Ten for the game offensive board. Taylor Gifford,

(01:03:25):
what a big time game. Now this junior has had
Fenski trapped near the court near the timeline, gets it
off to Natalie Bloom. She nearly has it poked away.
Eisenhower crowd can't believe it. Gifford filed on the drive.
They're not going to count the continuation.

Speaker 4 (01:03:43):
The student section's asking for it have been an A
one instead, Taylor Gifford gonna go earn it at the
charity stripe two thirty three to play thirteen point lead
and all things pointing towards Waukeshaw West playing for a
sectional championship coming up on Saturday. Man oh man, I

(01:04:06):
you know, even the ad said, Look, I didn't Uh,
I wasn't sure what i'd see tonight. Our basketball team,
they worked really hard, but they've had a few ups
and downs this year, and they're playing exceptionally well right now.

Speaker 1 (01:04:19):
Really really well.

Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
And uh File, I'm gonna come against Gifford.

Speaker 4 (01:04:23):
Maybe her the first mistake she's just gonna say, maybe
the first mistake she's made on the night, but hard
to say just playing hard as a mistake because she
defensively was.

Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
Just forcing the issue there.

Speaker 4 (01:04:34):
Yeah, you don't want to stop the clock and put
that on the line, and coach Darling is having that conversation.
Free throw Maine still thirteen. Look, you need a lot
of things to go your way to get back in
this one. But getting to the free throw line is
one of those things. Kelly Griffith knocks that one down,
knocks down the pair. Yeah, me allowing them to score

(01:04:57):
while the clock has stopped.

Speaker 3 (01:04:59):
Is the exact opposite of what you want to do
here by Wolverines, Fenske takes out McDowell. She still has
it dribbling around, and now a block comes against Tez.

Speaker 4 (01:05:10):
You don't want to purely in ten second violation again,
but you know what, coach Darling's getting the ball, defense
King clearing it out. Yeah, because she again, she's shooting
eighty seven percent from the line, and that's who you
want at the line.

Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
Just trying to get it to his best free throw
shooter and saying, go ahead, go at it. Winner of
this game will take on the winner of a Minasha
West to peer.

Speaker 4 (01:05:36):
I think they're playing up ends. They're playing right now, Yeah,
and they that game I think is up in final act.

Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
It is at one now.

Speaker 3 (01:05:46):
That pass goes Aaron into the stands intended for Johansson
fourteen point lead as a chance to grow even greater
here for.

Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
Well is it Timeshaw West. I think we probably know
who will be our us screenplayer. The game is this
thing holds I think we.

Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
Got a pretty good, pretty good guess and pretty good
handle on who that's gonna be. As a deep cat
pass goes up to spread into the front court, she's
on the way up by Johansson and Sprott will go
to the file line.

Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
And spread is quick.

Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
No doubt that's a pass that you just send out
there and let your years go down and run and win.

Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
And I don't know this for a fact, but I
would bet she's a soccer player. Probably be a good guess.
She is a little frustrated at her little frustrated. She
got language a little bit there. My grandson Keegan is
sitting here and she.

Speaker 4 (01:06:39):
Just said hot fudge, yeah, talking about the Sunday that
she's about to have, potentially a victory Sunday after this
one fifty.

Speaker 3 (01:06:47):
To thirty five, the count two to five to play.
As autumn tes has in the corner. Now, it's I
think dwal driving trying to do anything to get it
off the glass to go.

Speaker 4 (01:06:59):
She's gotten really frustrated, McDowell has. She's a really good
basketball player. Very frustrated right now. Understandably so.

Speaker 3 (01:07:08):
The Lions just work so hard to get themselves the
hard hard to say back into this game. They were
in the game all for the majority of the night,
and Mike, they've worked really hard to tie it up
twice then just couldn't get over.

Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
The hump he can. What was the score at halftime?
We know that twenty four to eighteen account for Waukeshaw West.

Speaker 4 (01:07:29):
Boy, they were stuck on thirty one for it had
to be six minutes, right, got it to a tie
at fifteen up, tied to twenty five twenty five into
the second half, right, that's when it was a thirty
two to thirty one game after another quick seven zero
run by.

Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
The Wolverines. Now that chant is never I've never fully
understood it. As the Lions ka juice back warmed the buses.
This is a neutral site game. Both teams are gonna
take a bus back to school, so that one never
made a whole lot of sense to me. Fifty one

(01:08:10):
thirty seven, thirty second time out. We'll keep it right here,
a minute twenty three to go. I know that student
sections are always fun. That one, just I mean, we
we gotta we gotta be better than that.

Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Yeah, we do, we do.

Speaker 4 (01:08:20):
But they're they're all football players from watch So West
you know right, Yeah, I see you rolling your eyes.
Look I Coach Rocks retires and you know, so that's
they're they're they're what they're coming up with.

Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
That Coach Rocks just did a tremendous man for.

Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
So you want to talk one of the really as
good a football coach as he is, he's a better man.

Speaker 1 (01:08:45):
So he's just a really good dude. Yeah him, Jeff Tricky,
that whole group out there.

Speaker 3 (01:08:49):
Yeah, man, Yeah, you can't say enough about about coach
Rocks and and congratulations on such a great run with
the Wolverines. And as right over there on this Peydon
heisl has a big, big style high five and a smile.
What a resilient win here, uh for Waukeshaw West after
losing one of their more most important pieces a couple

(01:09:12):
of days ago, still knowing that the prize is right
in front of them.

Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
Yeah, and you know what, I've been watching her and
I'll tell you what, what a great teammate. Now she
is top twenty five in the state and softball.

Speaker 1 (01:09:24):
She's a junior.

Speaker 4 (01:09:25):
This is gonna hurt her a little bit, not to
be She's not gonna be able to play in the
spring Yeah, she'll play in the summer from what I understand,
but top twenty five in the state in softball, so
she'll get back on the field.

Speaker 1 (01:09:37):
She'll be back on the court next year for Wakshaw West.

Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
Hopefully, Mike, because it's one of the tough deals for
you know, supporters and advocates of multi sport athletes in
high school sports. Now, moments like that, you hope it
doesn't deter more really top flight players from playing a
second sport.

Speaker 4 (01:09:55):
One hundred Yeah, I agree with you, and hopefully she
she understands it as good as a basketball player as
she is better softball player. And I watch on the stands.
She's so excited for this team. Yeah, you're right about that.

Speaker 3 (01:10:08):
You can see the excitement over there on the Waukashaw
West bench as a foul comes Fenceky gonna go back
to the charity strike she.

Speaker 1 (01:10:19):
You know, she might.

Speaker 4 (01:10:20):
I think we've got we've got to go with Gifford.
But Vinski's a really close second.

Speaker 1 (01:10:26):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:10:26):
I can tell you that everything she does for that team,
it's just gonna be hard not to bring Gifford over.
And you know, Joe Class is now empty to his
bench and getting some seniors in and it's a very
emotional time for seniors. The last game a lot of times,
last time they're they're ever gonna be playing basketball again,
and they see they put so much sweat equity into

(01:10:48):
this program and now they're their career is over. And
you can see some tiers with some of the parents
up in the stands, and man, this tough time.

Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
You've been on the bench, you've been there, You've been
the parent in the stands, which spots harder being the
coach for me, and you know what being the parent.

Speaker 4 (01:11:06):
Look, that was easy for me because we won three
state state championships with my son Matthew. So that last
game is senior year. I knew it was the last
game and we're winner losing this last game, we end
up winning the thing, and so that made it a little.

Speaker 1 (01:11:21):
Bit easier as a coach.

Speaker 3 (01:11:23):
You know, you don't want it to end for some
of these seniors, and no doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (01:11:29):
You just see the like you said, the blood, sweating,
tears you put into it, the time you put into it,
the amount of effort you put into it all year long.

Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
To have an end like this is a tough pill
to swallow.

Speaker 3 (01:11:41):
However, it's not gonna end for Waukeshaw West as foul
comes here with twenty seven point nine to go.

Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
And the Wolverine starting the celebration on the right side.

Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
Here on the far side, the Lions. As Mike said,
the frustration and is starting to set in. Big smile,
big smile for I'm a becheler who knocks that one down.

(01:12:16):
Mike uh came in here zero five on field goal attempts,
but five or six from the foul line, he.

Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
Too, bear Man the Cray. The bench is going nuts
for her.

Speaker 3 (01:12:27):
I love that you only gotten into thirteen games on
the season, gets into this one here, into the playoffs,
get into the stat sheet.

Speaker 1 (01:12:36):
That's always a fun one.

Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
And this game is gonna tick down and the count
going to be a little bit more lopsided than the
game ultimately was.

Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
It was a closer one then the score would indicate.

Speaker 4 (01:12:49):
But Wakashaw West celebrating and surviving and advancing fifty seven
thirty nine and they're on to the sectional final fond
the Lack. This weekend they'll play the winner of West
of Here against Banasha. We'll have our player of the
game coming up on the other side, the high school

(01:13:09):
Basketball Game of the Week present by your local Big

That's Mike mcifferd showing off some jewelery. No, no, are

(01:13:31):
are us free player? The game tried ring out of him. Yeah,
that's really biggest well you.

Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
Know it, Yeah, Mike, because he sat it out there
the whole time.

Speaker 3 (01:13:39):
I let everyone look at the state I didn't took
it off and started flashing, Yeah, we get it.

Speaker 1 (01:13:44):
Shines in the light.

Speaker 3 (01:13:45):
No Player of the game brought to by the US
Marine Corps, the Few of the Proud the Marines is
Taylor Gifford to night for Waukeshaw West. Taylor, tremendous game here.
Just your effort and intensity. How much did you guys
know at halftime you pulled away a couple of times,
but it felt like it was gonna be a full,
uh forty minute game for you guys.

Speaker 1 (01:14:04):
Going to finish it off here tonight?

Speaker 6 (01:14:05):
Yeah, We knew they were gonna come out harder, with
more integrity. They wanted it, but we just talked about
we gotta limit the turnovers and we just gotta keep
playing together passing the ball. We had a couple of
travels in the first half that kind of like altered
our game, but we just we hit shots, we drove
to the basket.

Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
It was really good Taylor with it with losing Peyton,
and Peyton didn't score a ton, but boy, talking to
your coach, she did a lot for your team.

Speaker 1 (01:14:31):
How difficult was it for you, and you're a junior on.

Speaker 4 (01:14:34):
This team, but certainly one of the leaders of the
team to regroup and say, look, it's next girl up.

Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
We just kind of go she's not gonna be able
to play. Let's let's get a win for her. I
can tell you this. We had so much fun.

Speaker 4 (01:14:45):
Watching her on the bench. What a great teammate. Nobody
was happier for this team than she is. How difficult
is it for you when you lose such an integral
part of your team to be able to say, look, guys,
we just gotta we just gotta figure.

Speaker 1 (01:14:59):
This out without her.

Speaker 6 (01:15:00):
Yeah, I mean, we knew we had to rebound because
she was a huge rebounder. We knew we had to
get easy buckets because that was her role on the team,
and we knew we just had to take care of
the ball. And I think Caylen and Natalie stepped up.
Julia stepped up when they needed to. They hit shots,
they didn't turn the ball over, they rebounded.

Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
When we needed to.

Speaker 4 (01:15:16):
Hey, I take it this is your momb right here,
right because you guys look like twins. I'm just telling you, yo, yo,
you guys look like twins.

Speaker 1 (01:15:24):
She's so proud of you.

Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
Yeah, you had a hug for for Mainville after you
guys play together and for Lakers or who.

Speaker 6 (01:15:33):
We both played for Wisconsin Lakers and we played together
in the summer a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
So she was guarding you, you were guarding her.

Speaker 4 (01:15:39):
I'm a big fan of her and her family, and
I know that she's right now feeling a little bit sad,
but really happy for you. You have any idea about
the teams that you're playing, the team you'll play next,
either West of Pier.

Speaker 1 (01:15:52):
Or No Nonsha. Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry you know anything
about those not really.

Speaker 6 (01:16:01):
I mean we've looked up their player sets, but we're
just we just got to take care of it.

Speaker 1 (01:16:05):
Next game up.

Speaker 4 (01:16:07):
Hey, talk a little bit about the rest of this team. Look,
you're a US Marine Player of the Game and Sergeant
you got a chance to watch her play and when
when we named her you said, yeah, that's maybe.

Speaker 1 (01:16:17):
The best player on the floor.

Speaker 4 (01:16:19):
She does it all right, rebounds, pass the ball, handles
the ball, and scores. Man, she would be a great
US Marine wind. Shit, it's all about teamwork. Hey, when
when you get a chance to take a breath and say, okay,
now we're in the sectional finals.

Speaker 1 (01:16:35):
Look there, I looked at your your year.

Speaker 4 (01:16:37):
There were some ups and downs, right, you guys are
kind of a roller coaster, but you play in a
really difficult conference. So yeah, night in and night out,
that conference gets you ready for a game like this.

Speaker 1 (01:16:48):
Yes, yeah, uh huh.

Speaker 6 (01:16:49):
I mean we play like Arrowhead throughout the season. They're
a really good team. Go muskego cmh. So I think
it prepares us.

Speaker 4 (01:16:56):
He's really happy you see the Arrowhead because Billy Smid
coaches football.

Speaker 1 (01:17:00):
Yeah, we don't want to talk.

Speaker 4 (01:17:02):
We don't want to we we just we spent a
lot of time talking about Steve Ruts and coach Ruggs. Yeah,
on the football side and talk to your athletic director.

Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
You are doing the leadership council thing today.

Speaker 6 (01:17:12):
Yeah, we had a leadership conference out of church and
we just talk all about like being the standard and
winning impressively.

Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
Man, good for you, Billy thought it was a free
throw shooting kind of conference. And you know, yeah, you
weren't happy with your free throw shooting today this season. No,
that's all right.

Speaker 4 (01:17:28):
You know what, next game, you'll go nine for ten,
I'm telling you. And I'm just gonna give you a tip.
After your free throw, your falling back, stand the line,
and Coach Darling told you that one hundred times, stay
on the line. Congratulations, are us Mareen player of the game.
Twenty one points. I've got to think twelve rebounds, maybe

(01:17:49):
four or five assists, a bunch of steels. Very easy
for us at this point to name you are us
Green player of the game. Good luck to good luck Saturday,
good luck for rest of the way.

Speaker 6 (01:17:58):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:17:59):
Yeah, you bets, say tell your mom you guys look
like twins.

Speaker 4 (01:18:02):
I gotta tell you, yeah, no doubt we're gonna get
to a quick break.

Speaker 1 (01:18:07):
Hey, it's Sargean. Thank you so much. Yeah, thank you.
It's good to see you. And you bet we're gonna
get to a break other tide break. We'll we'll break
this this.

Speaker 3 (01:18:15):
Game down at that thing dialed in, Mike, I mean
now granted.

Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
Outside like twins, Yeah, outside of you, outside of that
fantastic job.

playing for the ultimate prize, which he's unable to bring
this moment to him and you're done.

Speaker 4 (01:20:36):
Talking to the head coach of brig the girls coach
of Broke Centraal. He said, look in this regional sexual
he said, especially in the regional he said, anybody could
have won it.

Speaker 1 (01:20:46):
He said, any team had a chance.

Speaker 4 (01:20:48):
It doesn't surprise me wat Show West as they're a
different team that we beat them earlier of the year
and and they've really gotten their stuff together and their
coach did a great job of getting them keeping them
on track, and they're doing some things right now that
they weren't due to the beginning of the year and
playing extremely well.
