Speaker 1 (00:01):
How are you, mister Wheetrow.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Fantastic, Fred. It's many Friday Thursday.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
So uh, I like that, MANI Friday. I'm gonna steal that.
It's a it's a mini Friday. Now. The problem is,
you know, we had four really good days all right,
things looked, we got we got close to meeting that
record that.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
We had set.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Well, we kind of sprawled a little bit yesterday and
in fact, the S and P had its first loss
in four days. So what happened yesterday? What's the reason
for all of this?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
It was probably because it was a whetro Wednesdays we
talked about yesterday. It was kind of pushed it down.
They just rained on our grade bad. Well, we had
the data come out yesterday with the CPI okay, and
you know we were expecting two point five. It came
in you know, ecuse it came in just to hear higher,

(00:56):
but the core came in lower. It was right in line.
It came in less than what they expected. So you know,
it's a big relief because we're all kind of looking
around eight thirty going okay, place you're going to go
up because of the tariffs a little bit more than
what we thought, and it didn't. Now today we have
the PPI coming out, But it was all good. In
the beginning, stock part was going up, you know, kind
of going back and forth, but it ended down for

(01:18):
the day and the Dow was down is basically flat
down one point, the SMP down sixteen and a half points,
which ISO point twenty seven. The natattak off ninety nine,
which is a half percent. So it wasn't an overly
bad day, but all being very cautious. We had news
about the uh hold it. How did they describe it? Yesterday?
Really really good talks with me. They are making headway

(01:42):
talking about letting us some of their students coming over
here and going to our colleges and then we get
some materials from them. So I think they're working things out.
And I said yesterday they're going to work something out.
We are the two largest economies, so it's just kind
of a we're kind of just seen. So we have
the FED coming out next week. You know, what are

(02:03):
they going to do with rates? They can leave them
the same. President Trump wants them to cut. But you
know things are progressing. You know, it's not bad right now.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
So yeah, I mean it's not it's it's it's a stall.
It's not really a dip, it's not really a fall,
all right, It's just it's just that little thing.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Now.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I do have a question though, because I'm looking at
the Blade this morning and UT had a panel of
businesses or what they call businessmen and trade experts, and
one of them was the supply chain officer from a
First Solar and to him, he's quoted as saying, right now,

(02:41):
I think the tariff structure breeds so much uncertainty the
way they're wrapping it around and other issues like critical
minerals and things like that, it creates even more complexity
of economy. Is that from your understanding and all the
stuff that you look at every day, is that what

(03:02):
a lot of businesses are feeling? Are they still feeling
that uncertainty and that there's a complex problem out there
with the tariffs until we finally signed some agreements with
these other countries.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
I think the and that's basically emotional because nothing's been
really like I don't think a lot of it's hit
us all yet. I think that's just something. You know,
if I look what happened tuesday. We have the Optimism Index,
you know, from small businesses it was higher, So some
people aren't as worried, and I think things will get settled.

(03:38):
The stock market, of course, is looking at it, and
when you know, it rebounded from April from that SMP
being down twenty percent and bounced up off for that. Yeah,
it's going to be complex, But I'm tired of us
not being able to take our stuff and take it
to other countries and being on a fair playing field.
That's all we're trying to get. So why should we
pay the penalty all the time? You know, we're the

(03:58):
United States. We you know, we can't take care of
the world. We need our industry to get going. And
so yeah, any way you look at it is, you
could say it's going to be complex any way you're
going to do that, But I don't think the tarriffs.
It just showed in the report on inflation that it's
not hitting us that hard yet. Now it could in

(04:18):
a month or two, but we don't know.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah, yeah, well.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
And then maybe that maybe that's what's creating the uncertainty.
You know, they because business is like to know, look,
I have to order X number of things that I'm
going to be using in the next six months to
a year. I need to know exactly how much I need,
and especially with First Solar because they're using a lot

(04:44):
of those precious minerals that we're getting from China.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Agreed. And but how many companies that came out with
their earnings this earning period and then they you know,
they weren't giving any forecasts. Well, it's too hard to predict,
you know, where we're going, so they weren't giving numbers
or even saying, hey, things are going great. So we
had that hit some stocks. I have an article I've
been read. I have not read this, but the headline

(05:12):
is Stilantis fine for June on rare Earth Supplies. Manager says,
So you know, it makes shift think of what's going on.
And they just are making a deal with China, so
you know, I it could happen, but it's always going
to be complex.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Yeah, always.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
And you know you said we're getting the pp I today,
anything else we should watch out for.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
We have the PPI coming out today that that could
be your market mover, and then tomorrow we have the
consumer sediment. We're gonna see how we all feel about it.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
So you're saying sentiment not sediment sentiment.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
You're right, You're like the material.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Like the dregs of dugs.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Thanks, like what's getting what gets left in the bottom
of the coffee.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I'm mining through our gold and sentiment rest behind is
what I'm talking about. That's my consumer.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Either one works, though, that's the problem.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Either one could actually FI all right, We'll talk to
Tim again tomorrow if you need to reach out before
