(00:01):
March is Women's history, Monk,so we're celebrating and encouraging the vital role
of women in American history. Hi, Amanda, you are a woman we
love. I will never forget meetingyou and then seeing you a year later
vault and now big picture of healthand you're a woman we love. It
(00:24):
is International Women's Day. Thank youfor launching season four of Women We Love.
We Love you. What an honorbecause the love is very mutual with
you, Ellen, and you area true girl's girl, and I don't
think there's enough of us out there, so let's celebrate that for a second.
Ah. Well, Amanda, thisis all about you. You are
(00:46):
faced with a really, really toughdiagnosis and now you are doing great things
for LLS sou Keemia Lymphonus Society.Thank you. Yeah, we've raised over
one hundred thousand dollars for the BloodCAAM their community, and a good almost
half of that was raised while Iwas actually going through chemo myself. I
(01:07):
made a promise that if I gotthrough it on the other side, that
I would pay it forward, andI feel really good about that number.
Over one hundred grand towards helping peoplewho can't pay for their medical treatment,
for the scholarship fund for chemo warriorsthat had to take a break from going
to school to pursue a higher educationso that they could save their own lives.
And for the Children's Initiative to helpto help lessen the intensity of pediatric
(01:33):
chemo for our adorable PEED patients.Oh yeah, for sure. What has
been one of your biggest challenges withgetting through this being on the other side?
Do you have sc anxiety? Isthat how you say it? Yes,
Yes, yes I do. Ido have sk anxiety. I always
hope that lab day is a fabday when I go in. But you
(01:55):
know, it's funny now my stresscomes from wedding plan so it's nice to
kind of convert that focus and justkind of, you know, channel it
somewhere else for a good thing. My wedding is going to be the same
weekend I celebrate five years in remission, so it's a double celebration. It's
two things to look forward to.It's a transitional year. It's it's kind
(02:19):
of putting one journey in the inthe backseat, in the rear view mirror,
and it's all about focusing on beinga wife, getting to say I'm
someone's wife. That's kind of wildsaying Ellen. When did you get used
to saying you were someone's wife?Oh? I wrote it a lot,
and we were engaged for about ayear, so I wrote it all the
time. And then it was justit's the best feeling. It's your teammates,
(02:40):
it's your ride or die forever, and so I think it. It
didn't take long. It's just okay, that's good. Yeah, yeah,
yeah, that's all the work wife. You're Ryan's work wife as well,
double wife duty. Well how areyou now balancing it all? You're raising
(03:00):
for LS, you're also planning yourwedding, you're doing live television every single
morning early, you're out of pressjunkets. Tell us, like, how
you do all that? You know, I'm figuring it out. I want
to thank you guys also for bringingawareness to the Luke Malmphoma Society, So
thank you for all your help there. We just added an hour of programming
(03:23):
to our show. So now wedo g DLA Plus, which is on
Fox eleven plus, so it's kindof like Good to La the remix,
so we get to be I know, this is hard to believe. We're
even more off the cuff and looserif you will, okay, but always
authentic. And then yeah, afterwards, I go and I just interviewed Jack
(03:43):
Black and Aquacina yesterday for Kung FuPanda four. Yes, and then I
go home and I'm janned, mommy dog, So I got to walk
home and make sure. But Ijust started my Seamaus journey thanks to Ryan,
so hopefully I get a little moreenergy there, all right, you
know what, Amanda, I hope. Well, Okay, I'm just gonna
let you decide. Yes, Idon't think that Simas actually does anything for
(04:04):
us, but I do believe thatthere is a mental placebo effect, you
know. Okay, it's my daytwo. I'm gonna let you know.
I just started acupuncture as well, and I'm like, is this working or
is this just my mind over wantingit to work? Okay? See,
but let me let me jump inhere, and this is all about you,
Amanda. We're gonna go back toyou here in a second. But
Ellen is also the same person whobelieves in mercury and retrograde, which I
(04:27):
WHICHO. Okay, but you guys, you want to talk about mind over
matter that is mercury appearing to spinback, no what it is. I'm
just saying I believe in energy.I believe in the title poll, I
believe in wishing on stars. Butyou don't believe in nutrients from something that
comes from the sea. I dobelieve in nutrients that come from I just
don't believe in paying seventy five dollars. Okay, that's fair. That's fair.
(04:50):
Also though, like, I've neverseen a mermaid with bad hair.
I'm kind of like whatever having,So I'll have that as well. The
juries to on that one. Let'sget back to you. You meet everybody,
you junk it with everybody. Sowho's been your favorite celebrity? Ooh
okay, Well the first one thatpops in my mind, because it's hard
(05:13):
to pick a favorite because I've beendoing this for sixteen years now. But
I got to say interviewing Matthew McConaughey. He has such a unique cadence to
the way he speaks, and itis a journalist dream because it's nice and
slow and very direct in particular withwhat he's saying. He talks with purpose,
and so he's just easy to pulla SoundBite fromm I have to say,
(05:36):
that's that's great. I also loveAriana Debos because she's such a triple
threat. Anything can happen in aninterview with her. We can sing,
we can dance, we can cry. I call her Storyana because she really
has that star factor. That's sogood to hear from you, because,
like you said, you've done itfor sixteen years, You've met everybody.
You just sat down with Jack Black, Kung Fu, Panda Flour. I
(05:58):
hear Josh As contribute. Did aBrittany remake to the soundtrack? Yes,
it's funny because I said, wegot to get Poe, who's his character
on tour, and he said hewould want to do a Britney Spears song.
And you know what, you cannever go wrong with a Britney track,
right right right? Hit me Babyone more time because it goes too
(06:19):
right. Yes, yes, TanasiusB. You know, get a little
Brittany in the mix. That's agood duo. It's all about the duos.
You guys know firsthand about having agood partner. Thank you, Amanda.
Sorry you you're getting married. Ourlittle girl's getting married. She's all
well and feeling not getting married.I got to get advice from you though.
(06:42):
Ellen. You know you've been happilymarried for what is it over twenty
years? Twenty three years? Ye? Twenty's I to say to you,
Amanda, because I know you're inthe wedding planning stages and anyone else who's
listening right now, do not spendon flowers, like, thank you.
Don't make that an issue. Don'tworry about this certain china or these color
(07:06):
napkins or any of that. Noneof it. Make the food good,
make the mood better. Ooh,food and mood, yes, that's been
checked. Thank you. That's allyou had, food and mood, and
that is it. So no matterwhat you have to do. Look,
you could have a food truck andmake it the best wedding ever. And
I almost kind of wish I did, because we did a sit down dinner
(07:28):
and we wasted so much money onflowers and candelabras and all this stuff that
nobody cares about. Yeah, you'reright, you're not wrong speaking my language,
So thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah, mood and food make
it fun, comfortable and great food, okay, lots of it. Yeah,
(07:48):
yes, you gotta have enough foodfor sure. Yeah, because we
overserved our guests on the booze andunderserved on the food. Oh so we
had a few driven home, sothat was a little uncomfortable. It's Hollywood's
so used to that. When yougo and you see these Golden Globe events
or Critics' Choice events, it's lessfood and more booze for sure. So
(08:11):
you did it the Hollywood way forsure. All right, Amanda sallas with
us. It's women we love. What is your advice to others who are
going through cancer, who are tryingto make it to the other side,
who need that extra hope. Amanda, Wow, thank you for asking me
that. I would say my adviceto any warrior who's going through it now
(08:33):
is knowing how you want to haveyour story be told, because even to
this day, sometimes people will say, oh, didn't you have cancer?
And now that's part of when I'mmeeting people, or it's part of my
story, whether I like it ornot. Embracing that it did happen to
you, accepting that it happened toyou. But what are you going to
do about it? How are yougoing to pay it forward to somebody else?
That's what it's all about, becauseif it's less about you and more
(08:56):
about what you can do for someoneelse, it just becomes a little more
of a spiritual journey and you don'tget as sad because you know that it
was, you know, happening fora reason. I'd also say, on
a vanity note, take a lotof photos rock that bald head, because
when your hair grows back, hopefullyyou never go through that phase again,
(09:16):
and you're going to want to lookback at your shaved head and see how
far you've come. And it willhelp posting it to help other people who
have to shave their head to see, hey, you know what, it's
not that bad. I love that. And I will say, Amanda,
I think for anyone that is goingthrough it, look to people like you
or just you specifically. I mean, we'll never forget the way you handled
(09:39):
this with such grace and humor anddignity and oh my god, when you
were in the hospital doing your redcarpet walk with your hospital gown and you
made the most of a real horrible, scary situation. And I think that
the more people like you people canlook up to, the better their journey
(10:01):
is going to be and and ultimatelyturn out well. Thank you. I
mean, because there are dark days. Listen, your your hair will change
your body will change, your moodswill change, But how can you change
someone else for the better? That'sthat's the that's the bottom line. Amanda,
fantastic and good for you. Ryan, team up for Amanda and all
(10:22):
the work you guys do for lYes lymphoma. Yeah, you know,
it's only our relationship and friendship andwe just love we just we love the
everything about you. We love thecancer right out of you. Oh my
god, thank you. I mean, listen, I know this is about
women we love, but everyone lovesRyan at Ls for everything he's done for
(10:46):
us and the nonprofit and just forthe city. So thank you so much.
And let me add there's enough ofRyan for everybody. As you know.
Oh lord, I feel like weall love Ryan's mom, Ryan's dog,
Ryan's girl and everything that's Ryan. We're fans. Okay, I love
it, Ryan Sea Moss. Yeahall right, busy b who are you
(11:11):
interviewing next? You know, Ihave Anet Benning on the on the docket
where you know, she's been nominatedfive times for an oscar. So how
does she feel about this? Isshe nervous? Her and Glenn Close who's
going to win the oscar first?Oh? My god. Okay, so,
and now we are in love withan at Betting. We just saw
her on a television program wearing herblue jeans. They were cupped with loafers
(11:35):
and a motorcycle jacket. Oh she'severything. Yes, because she was doing
press for Apples Never Fall, hernew peacock series. You want to check
that out. It's good. Yeah, yeah, yeah, really good.
All right, well, Amanda, thanks for stopping by Women We Love You
