Speaker 1 (00:11):
It's August and you know what that means. It's Summer Slam.
That's right, everybody, Welcome back to the Wrestling Round Table
here on Fox Sports The Gambler for the first time
since the Elimination Chamber Round Table. Hey, we had WrestleMania
and Philly all so we were busy, so we didn't
convene for the Roundtable for WrestleMania. But we're back for SummerSlam.
(00:35):
As you may have noticed, John Jansen is unable to
join us for this one, so we're gonna have to
somehow manage to make it through. Shout out to John Jansen,
Wrestling round Table pioneer. I'm sure he's out there listening
and yelling at his radio already. My name is Nick Pcone,
co host of The Straight Shooters podcast, editor of Philly Influencer,
and yes, that guy on Twitter. I am joined by
(00:58):
my co hosts of The Shooters, Von Johnson of the
Philadelphia Inquirer, and of course Jason Finelli game spot Game Informer.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
What else do it too much?
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Just had something go up on the official blog of
the Epic Game Store from EVO when I was out
in the Las Vegas cover in the Fighting games last
weekend or two weekends, two weekends ago, excuse me, the
mid July normally in August, but it was earlier this year.
And then, if you want to talk about hype e sports,
video game competition, fighting games are where it's at. That
(01:34):
was so much fun, just a weekend of like Street
Fighter and Techan and Mortal Kombat and all of them
in one place with all these people watching. They built
a nine thousand seat arena in one third of the
Las Vegas Convention Center and that's where they had their
finals tournaments. It was awesome. In fact, they repurposed bleachers
(01:57):
from the F one race that was on the strip
last year. I know they're going back this year, but
this one from last year. They built those bleachers high
bleachers for people and then seats on the floor was
nuts so that I can't wait to go back to
that again. And I highly recommend if you like Street
Flavor or tech In or any of them at all,
you give it a shot at least once. It's a
lot of fun. But yeah, just write news, reviewing games
(02:18):
and living the dream.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
I guess I think, aw you could sell out that
nine thousands of seed arena, you kid. I cared. We
love aw around here, folks, don't don't let them tell
you any differently. As I said, this is the first
round table since the Elimination Chamber, so we're gonna have
some fun. We're gonna talk about our favorite storylines going
(02:45):
into Summer Slam. We got quite a few of them
and they're gonna culminate at Summer Slam. So I'll go
to my co host, Vaughan Johnson. What are you looking
forward to the most heading into SummerSlam.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
I mean, I think what a lot of people are
looking forward to the most. It is the match that
has the most heat coming into this show. It is
CM Punk versus Dream McIntyre and looking forward to seeing
see them Punk can actually stay healthy do this match.
And last for another match in wwfore.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Right for the Royal Rumble there he had two and
back in w W so I lost count, but he
made it through those matches. But then the Royal Rumble
came and then yeah, all hell broke loose.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
So that sounds right.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Yeah, yeah, so that's what I'm looking forward to. Obviously,
you got the big stadium show. Those are always cool visuals.
Like I think we said before the show, only five
matches on the card, so you're gonna see some probably
some longer matches, some matches that will give him some
time and care, you would think. But there's one thing
I had to again point out. It would be Punk
(03:51):
versus Drew McIntire's outside of I would say Cody versus
Roman Slash the Rock going into WrestleMania, this has been
the best story in WW all year, and they haven't
really touched all that often. Obviously, They've had the run
ins for seeing Punk screwing over Drew McIntyre I multiple
turns and Drew McIntire getting into revenge at multiple turns.
(04:13):
But this is the first official match between these two,
and this view has been going on since them Punk
got heard the World Rumble back in January, so eight
months in the making for this match. I know people
kind of ragged on the promo they had this past Monday,
but outside of that, I feel like they've been hitting
on all cylinders with their story, and that would be
(04:34):
the thing I'm looking forward to the most Saturday night
in Cleveland and Cleveland Brown Stadium home of the Browns, obviously,
so yeah, I'm looking forward to that.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
I am. People, if you listen to our latest episode
of Streat Shooters podcast. I'm one of the ones who said, yeah,
that promo was lame. It doesn't take away, you know,
the juice I have going into this match. I think
they added Seth rollins because they obviously it's a way
to pivot. It's pun again Seth. I don't know if
they're going to sting that out to WrestleMania or Rumble,
(05:04):
but I think like that's their pivot, is why Seth
is included. What do you think about that, Jason, Ah.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yeah, I think that they're maybe not that far off.
I think maybe you could start a Seth punk program
right now, right after SummerSlam, and let Seth and Drew
kind of cool off, because let's not forget gentlemen, SummerSlam
and Special Referetion and Andigans have a bit of a
Historytt Michaels, Brett Hark, Shaan Michaels and The Undertaker. I
(05:32):
would not be surprised if something similar happens here where
Drew gets in Seth's faith face and Seth has a
problem with it, and then he goes after Drew and
hits punk instead giving Drew the pin right something like that,
and then you have Punk and Seth have their little
war for a little while and then maybe go back
to Drew for Hell and a Cell. Because if that
were to happen, Punk could then say, yeah, you beat me,
(05:54):
but it took both of you. You don't have a
clean win over me, So can you really consider that
a real win or is it just a moral victory?
You know? He could probably turn it in that little
in that some sort of similar fashion. That's what I
would like to see. But as far as other matches, honestly,
I think low key the Judgment Day storyline and the
(06:16):
different ways that that could go, and how that how
both of those title matches, Damian Priest versus Gunter and
Ray Ray Ripley versus Live Morgan, both of them could
go any number of ways, And I think that it's
it's a really good test It's a testament to the
way they tell stories now, because like Dominic, could Dominic
turn on Ray? Could Dominic stay with Ray raya I
(06:37):
keep saying, Ray, it's Riya come on now? Yeah? It
could Finn Balor be in the mix here? Could he
be in cahoots with Live Morgan? They planned that seat
a couple of times. Could it be that they're just
pretending to be splintered so they can get one over
on Gunter and Leve. There's all sorts of different possibilities,
And I think from something that we used to think
was like a afterthought joke when it first started, Judge
(07:00):
the Day when it first started to where it is
now is an absolute one eighty night and day situation.
And if they keep going this way with all these
different threads and they tie it together in a really
cool way, I think we could be talking about the
Judgment Day as a group up there with the other
storylines of the year.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Yeah. I think the Ria and Live match has more
story going into it than Damien and Guther. But I
tell you, Damien and Goother sold me the last like
two weeks. You know. Yep, that's not It's not kind
of like your what you thought of the SummerSlam match
being it. Everybody thought Goother would face Cody at SummerSlam,
(07:40):
like Cody wins the title WrestleMania. Obviously, if Guth loses,
then he'll face Cody at SummerSlam. But the fact that
they went separately, I think they'll eventually wind up facing
each other. I don't, I really hope it's not to
unify the title. Well, it wouldn't be like a terrible
thing if they unified the titles, But I don't think
they're gonna do that anytime soon. But I think they're
(08:02):
just holding that. I think that's like their money match
in the future. They're like, you know what, We're gonna
do it yet I do.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
I don't know. They're on separate shows right now. They're on, yeah, don't.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
I don't see Cody. Last year, they kind of kept
them away from Roman after he lost, So I don't
know if it's going to be next year. But I
could see down the line where they that could be
a WrestleMania main event.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
It could. I feel like Cody's kind of destined for
the Rock. You know you can't.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
I would hope the Rock doesn't win, But well, I.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Don't see that happening at Survivor Series or a Rumble,
So you bring the Rock back for Cody, roads it's
going to be at WrestleMania. I don't see. I don't
see a reason to do Cody and Goonther anytime soon.
But that's just that's just me.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Yeah, and that gives me pause, and like, I don't
know if they're ready for Goonther to win the title. Uh,
you asked me three weeks ago. I like, no doubt.
But you know, they're given Damien a lot of this
these different stories to kind of sink his teeth into
You have Gunthor obviously, and then the ria Don situation,
and then his is separate from Finn, so you know,
(09:11):
they all kind of intertwined. But at the same time,
he could go either which way after Summer Slam. So
I really like how they kind of gave Damien that
arc that he was really missing since he won the
title of WrestleMania. He's just kind of like, what's he
He's a placeholder? Okay, who's going to beat him? Is
(09:32):
it going to be at Money in the bank or
is it going to be a Summer Slam. But I
think he's really gained some momentum a lot and a
lot of people now think, yeah, I could see Damien
holding the title after SummerSlam.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
So yeah. And also too, there's a theory I've been
reading up on Summer Slam predictions and stuff like that.
There's a theory that somebody postulated on one of the
YouTube channels that I watched that I really, really like
a lot of people have said that Damian Priest has not,
you know, until this recent program, has not really lived
up to the the stature of a title defense, you
(10:07):
know what I'm saying, Like that it hasn't really gotten
to that point yet. What better way to legitimize him
as a champion to swerve everyone and have him beat
Gunther clean, no interference, no shenanigans, save the shenanigans for postmatch,
and have him beat Gunther clean as a sheet. I
(10:27):
don't know that that necessarily hurts Gunter all that much,
but the one issue you run into is that your
first ever King of the Ring with this stipulation is
going to lose.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Yeah, that's my whole thing, because they've they've invested a
lot and then Gunther this whole summer, but he's been
yet and he won King of the Ring. I don't
know if you should lose clean maybe not win the title.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
But okay, penned, but having you could, you could soften
the blow of your King of the Ring losing the
title match. He earned this first outing by having the
Queen of the Ring win the title in her first outing,
and honestly, I think that's a shoeing. I really do.
(11:13):
If we're talking most improved wrestlers across maybe all companies
in the last six months to a year, he got it.
I can't believe I'm saying this out loud, but you
have to consider Naya, you have to Nick.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
You know, I've been on a Nya jacks train from
day one. She just needed time. Everybody thinks she's going
to come out of the out of the performance center
like Sean michaels like she's going to be the goat.
No take it easy, give her time. She's only been
doing this for a short amount of time comparatively speak
relative to like other season vets in wrestling who are
(11:50):
really really good. I think people forget that with people
who are really really good typically there are some outliers.
Typically they've been doing it for a long long time
to get to that life level. You don't just come
out to shoot great. So not to your point, Jason,
I agree with you and that Nia Jacksons solidified herself
as quality in the ring, and I think I silence
(12:12):
a lot of her haters from over the years. You
just we're impatient, which is you know, that's our society
twenty twenty four. People want the instant gratification of everything,
but no, you got to take some time sometimes and
slow it down and understand that people progress. You know,
she's she's all right now. Imagine she's going to be
another year or two.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
So she a lot of people, and I've forgot about this.
A lot of people may have forgotten. She's main event
at a premium live event this year.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Yeah, in Australia, right yep, against Weird Rippley. Nobody batter
than I. Nobody complained, that's true. She held her own.
Then she went Queen of the Ring. Nobody batter than I.
Nobody complained, she held her own.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
This is her mom huh it is.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
I really do think it's her moment. So the next
question is where it is? Money in the bank?
Speaker 3 (13:01):
Fitting data?
Speaker 2 (13:01):
So I don't think you cash in two years in
a row.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Are we doing predictions right now? Are we kinda? We
kind of because I can get I got some predictions now.
Oh so I don't want to I don't want to
give it away just yet, but.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Like, all right, all right, we can we can put
a fill for them in the second segment. We'll go
through them in the second segment. But a lot that leads,
like this conversation kind of leads to the point that
there are a lot of different storylines that people can
find interesting heading into this. There's not much filler. There's
seven matches listed right now, and everyone has a story
(13:38):
that's been building for at least you know, five six
weeks out. That's triple H'SWW, right. You know, there's very
rarely filler matches, which is you know, in a way,
I understand like the lesser matches the better because you're
not getting that filler. But sometimes the filler is good
because you want to see people that you want normally,
(14:00):
like on a premium live event of pay per view.
You know, a w still uses pay per views. So
I think the of the seven matches and listen, I
said it on The Straight Shooters, I'm a premium uh peacock,
Premium plus subscriber now, so those commercials won't you know,
deter me anymore. I'll I'll get to see video packages instead.
(14:22):
But you know, in this era of w W, we're
gonna get those small cards compared to you know, years
ago to fill those commercial times because that's you know,
the deal they have at this point. You know, I don't,
and every match is for a championship. The only one
with no championship is See'm punkin Drew mcatire. There's titles
(14:43):
galore at this Summer Slam, and it's it'd be really it's.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Almost like night a champions or something, right, exactly, champions.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
There's one thing, the champions. Yeah, oh that's right. There
was Clash of and then Clash of the Uh. There's
one thing missing on this card, and that is a
tag team match. They're all singles. There's no variety as
far as the special guest referee is the only non
standard normal singles match. Now that's not necessarily a problem.
(15:17):
It reeks of UFC, which in these TKO days it
makes sense. But I would have liked to have seen
a tag match or a triple thread or something like
that in this in this card. Even WrestleMania had the
Philadelphia Street Fight and stuff like that. But am I complaining?
Speaker 3 (15:35):
No.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
I think it's gonna be great, but it would have
been nice. Maybe they book it tomorrow on SmackDown or
something like that, just just some sort of non singles.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
Match, and I think we'll see that on SmackDown because
we've seen you know, they've had big matches on the
smackdowns prior to their premium live they kind of build
up that SmackDown almost as like an extension to the
pay per view premium live event. I'm sorry, paymerum Life event.
Oh my god, come on twenty four now. I mean
(16:04):
they did in uh before Money in the Bank, right,
it was Diy versus Theory and Waller for the tag titles.
So I haven't seen the SmackDown preview yet as of
this recording, but uh, you know, I'm sure they kind
of they're probably gonna have big matches on SmackDown, and
whether it's a consequence or not remains to be seen,
(16:25):
but I know that, you know, they kind of you know,
went with SmackDown moves to USA. Will they continue doing that, like,
I'm not sure, but for now it's it does seem
kind of like you know, these pay per views Summer
Slam is gonna be at least four hours right there.
They still run long, they you know, four or four
and a half hours, maybe not four and a half,
(16:45):
but it will still be close to four hours if
not just over. But you know that two hour smackdowns
and extension to that, So it's almost like a six
hour type show, but you get.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
A three hour a three hour pre show.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
Yeah, I'm signing it too, which is that's different.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
I'm signing into Peacock right now because somebody showed me
something and I just want to verify if that screenshot
they showed me was real or if it was doctor.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
That Summer Slam is like eight hours or something like that.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
It slotted four pm to midnight.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Eastern, which is like and I saw some people complaining
it's like, you know, damn well, that's not all wrestling.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Like no, no, of course not.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
I just it's just making argument. Yeah it is. And
three hour pre show for five matches is a lot. Also,
I think Michael Cole was hosting that pre show, like
they're working that man to death. You can't you mean
to tell me you can get somebody else to host
that pre show. He's calling the show. I thought I
saw it that he was hosting it as well, but
maybe I'm wrong.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
They usually host the kickoff shows, so it might be
like a separate kickoff show and then the pre show
if they do it that way, because they usually do
it like the day before the week.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Something's wrong with my timing in my in my lap
at my computer because right now I'm looking it's a
Summer Slam kickoff tomorrow they're doing.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
They're probably doing like the Pepperrelly type deal tomorrow that I.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Forgot they started doing that. I thought that was a European's.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Little what I was saying, which Michael Cole is also hosting,
thats are just working man in wrestling.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Yeah, they and obviously part of that is going to
be the press conference after, you know, they're they kind
of slot that in, so it's.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Yeah, I don't think the show itself is going to
midnight now.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Right the press conference probably would probably go past midnight,
but you know, they still have those and they they're included.
I don't know how many people are going to stay
up to watch that. I kind of after brawl Out,
I kind of just they got I don't even a
W and W doesn't really treat that. I guess this
newsworthy if they don't say something, But I kind of
just wait till the next day to catch up on
(18:48):
any of the news and notes coming from the press conference.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
One last point about Peacock's timing the post show slot.
The separate post show is ten PM Okay, so are
you telling me this whole show is going to be
seven to ten? No, I don't think.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
I doubt it. Yeah, I feel like pay per views
are typically four hours right now and this one and
what was the live events?
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Was it Survivor series in Chicago that went slightly longer?
Did that one go to like eleven thirty? I feel
like I was sitting on my couch at eleven thirty
because I was able because that was that was the
day after Black Friday this year, and we have a
family tradition where we go to Hershey Park for a holiday.
I remember being able to come home and sit on
my couch and watch basically the entire Wargames match. I
(19:37):
think that one went later, So maybe this one, being
a Big four will too.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
But we'll see, Yeah, I think because when Pug came back,
it was like eleven something and I'm like, I don't know,
they have time because if he did come back, I
didn't know is it just gonna appear? Is he gonna
go in the ring cut of promo? Like right if
he does? And then he came back and I'm like,
oh my god, oh my god, and that it was
definitely like after eleven o'clock for sure, probably in between
eleven eleven thirty. But and that was very funny because
(20:02):
I remember before that I was that there's no way
they're gonna have a cmpung come back and Survivor series,
like what are we doing here? And boom, So I'm
not going to make any predictions like that again. Yeah,
you know, SmackDown is always very fun too. Before well,
Premium Live event almost did it, and I love how
(20:23):
they build it up and they might even you know, further,
some stories that aren't included in the SummerSlam card, which
I like how how they do that as well. So
and imagine I'm looking forward to a lot is the
Intercontinental title match Sammy Zaan and Bron Breaker. And speaking
of Breaker, We're gonna take a break here on Fox
(20:45):
Sports the Gambler the Summer Slam round Table like that, huh?
That was so that was smooth, and we will have
our predictions and some odds for our Summer Slam Roundtable.
We'll be back right after this. The Gambling, Philly's home
for all things sports gambling. Welcome back to the Wrestling
(21:18):
round Table here on Fox Sports. To Gambler, It's SummerSlam time,
and it's the SummerSlam Round Table. I am Nick Lacone
and I'm joined by Bon Johnson and Jason Pinelli, and
we're gonna go over the SummerSlam card. Seven matches currently
listed as of this recording. This is before SmackDown, so
we don't know if they're gonna add something or what,
(21:40):
but as of this recording, we're gonna go down the
seven match card. We got six title matches out of
the seven, so and on that seventh match, I'm sure
we'll have a lot of historyonics going on with it. So, gentlemen,
let's start with the Intercontinental title match. We went to
the break talking about Sammy Zay and bron Breaker, so
(22:03):
we're gonna come out of the break talking to Zen
Sammy Zay and bron Breaker. Sammy Zain beat bron Breaker
at the last Premium Live event, much to everyone's surprise.
Everyone thought bron Breaker was gonna beat Sammy Zain. Will
bro Breaker, a minus three thousand favorite beat Samdy Zain
at plus nine hundred for the Intercontinental Championship.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Yes, he will. We talked about it last month when
he lost Sammy z Ain and that he's gonna take
a lesson from that. They pretty much the promo I
think they did. I think it was from this past
Monday's Raw. Maybe it was last week's when he's talking
into the camera. Maybe it was this week's raw when
bron Breaker cut the promo talking into the camera. We
pretty much laid out the story that everybody missed when
(22:46):
he lost that money in the bank, and we kind
of said on the straight shoots out actors like he's
gonna be fine, He's gonna take a lesson from it.
It's gonna come back more ruthless. And you know, the
whole coup de gra to this is that he beat
Sammy this time at SummerSlam. Sammy z Ain is like, hey,
you know you underestimated me last time, but I'm still
(23:07):
that guy. Well, bron Breaker is going to prove it
at Summerslunder. He's that guy. He's going to become your
new inter Continental champion. I know some people were surprised
that money in the bank. I was surprised that it
happened clean, But what do you think about it? It makes sense,
and so will the fact that bron Breaker will get
that moment at SummerSlam in a stadium, not at you
(23:27):
know in an arena, but in the stadium at SummerSlam
for his first singles title on the main roster. So yeah,
I'm going bron breaker to become the new Intercontinental Champion
over Sammy's Ain.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Sorry Sammy, do you agree with that sentiment, Jason?
Speaker 2 (23:47):
In fact, I think they they might even turn this
into a Kevin Owens Sammus Ain n XT situation where
Brown just beats the living hell out of Samy to
the point where he can't continue. If you're gonna do
that on the main roster, this would be the place
to do it, and you really solidify a brand new
name who if you play your cards right, could you
(24:08):
could be talking WrestleMania Night two main eventor in the
future this guy. And I think one way you do
that is to just turn him into like, Okay, like
you said, you beat me the first time, it's not
going to happen again. And the way that doesn't happen
again is that I'm gonna beat you so bad you
can't even stand up and just wins the title that way,
And if you want to make it a squash, that
(24:29):
would be cool. I don't think that's gonna happen necessarily,
but a squash would be even more shocking and fitting
of elevating this guy to the next level. But no,
one hundred percent, I think bron Breaker wins. If bron
Breaker doesn't win this time, what are we doing here? Right?
Speaker 3 (24:44):
Like he's exactly.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
He's knocked down too many pegs.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
So he's clearly a guy that they are building around
for the future. And I love the fact that they're
not just rushing him straight to the main event and
having him win potentially win the Anticontinental Championship first and
having him, you know, have a feud with Sammy's ain.
He's going to help him get better. So yeah, I'd
like the way to progressing him. I think the Intercontinental
(25:09):
Championship is a nice stepping stone for him as he
before he moves on to bigger and better things. Like
you said, nine to two main event type of talent
they have with him. But no rush have him win
the icy title of Summer Slam. Again, No Rush didn't
have to have it happened at money in the Bank.
Wait till Summer Slam and the payoff will be even
(25:29):
nicer because he went through kind of some trials and
tribulations to get there. Those trials and tribulations, was losing
Clean as a sheet to Sammy's Ain at Money in
the Bank because of his own inexperience and also him
underestimating sammu'se Ain, who is a champion, so you shouldn't
underestimate him. Sammy should have beaten him. And now Bron
(25:50):
learns from that and clobber Sammy's Ain spears him right
out of his shoes in Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Love it.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
When they first made this match of Fish, that was
my kind of thought processes, like, oh, he's gonna kill Sammy,
you know, like there there's no way Sammy gets, you know,
two minutes worth of offense on Bron in this match.
It might even be a quick one. Who knows it
might open the show and be done five minutes into it.
With all the entrances match and then postmatch, I could
(26:20):
see that happening just but I mean, I don't think
they're gonna do that to Sammy, But I do think
that it's funny that everyone wanted Sammy's Ain to have
like a sustained run and he's been given the IC
title and he beat an up and cover on Clean
on a pay per view, and people were mad about it.
(26:45):
You know, they're just like we if you're gonna push Broun,
then push him. But they were mad Sammy's Ain won
even though they love Sammy, So it was almost it
was kind of funny seeing that, you know, juxtaposition where
it's like, we love Sammy, but damn it, Brown should
have won. And I think the story is perfectly laid out,
you know, of all, and like you said, I'm gonna
(27:05):
learn from this and then I'm gonna kill him, And
I think that's kind of where we're at where, you know,
I would be surprised if it was another long match
that Sammy got, you know, half offense in or even
like twenty five percent. I think Bron's just gonna destroy him.
And I do think that helps him in the future
as well as IC Champion. And we'll see what happens
with Sammy after that. You know, I do wonder what
(27:28):
they're gonna do with him. You said, revisit at Kyo.
It's a n XC thing, Jason, But you know what
we see is Sammy's a and Kevin Owens feud under
the Triple H creative on the main roster, which we
haven't seen yet. And you know, I mean, I know
they've done it a lot already on the main roster,
but I wouldn't be surprised. I do think.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
I think Sammy's gonna reunite with the og blood line
they go against the new blood line.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
He would be the fourth guy because they would be
the four guy, right.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
That's just my hot, you know, my prediction on that.
He'd already reunited with jay U still a little bit
on wrow this past Monday, I believe.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
So he hadn't seen each other a little bit, so
it was interesting they did that.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
They did the handshake with the big foam hand. That
was so. I think that if you're gonna do a
bloodline reunion, you almost can't do it without the honorary
oose feel weird to not do it with the honorary
whose right, But obviously that will take I think they
can take time with that, take their time with that,
because there's a lot of wounds that had that would
(28:32):
have to be healed with that. You know, you got
the min defenses with the USOS, you got the min
defenses with Sammy's ain and all that. So, but that's
for later on down the road. But that's what I
think is next with Sammy's ain.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
In my opinion, that would be great. They would have
me hook line and sinker for that stuff. Man, that
was some of the most entertaining TV they've done, and
while Vince was calling the shots, you know, like so uh,
I would totally be okay with that. USSI absolutely absolutely
(29:04):
We're gonna go for the inter Continental. So we're all
at agreement. Bron Breaker wins the Intercontinental title. Let's go
to the United States title. So we have Logan Paul,
the hometown boy, going against La Knight. This is a
one of the matches where the challenger is a favorite,
(29:24):
heading in as La Knight is minus four fifty and
the champion, Logan Paul is plus two seventy five. So, Jason,
do we see La Knight capture goal at summers Land.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Yes. Any hope of Logan pol retaining his championship, if
there was any inkling backstage at all, evaporated the minute
he opened his stupid ex Twitter mouth today and had
half the roster screaming at him because he's too dumb
to keep his mouth shut and to even have an
opinion worth talking about. But that's another story. Honestly, the
(30:00):
Perfect World Triple H would see that SmackDown would start
tomorrow night with l A. Knight saying, I don't want
to wait, let's do this right now. He beats Logan
Paul on the on SmackDown and then in that segment
he comes out and issues an open challenge, and Michael
Cole is sitting there is like, who in the backers
gonna do it? Bronson Reid, who else? Who else is there?
(30:21):
Joe Hendry and then his music plays and then l A.
Knight Joe Hendry for the US Championship. That would be
That's how I.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Would do it.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Man, that's not gonna happen, so Ellen Knight should win,
and Logan Paul can frankly, uh, I'm actually not. This
is going on live radio, so I can't finish that statement.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Yeah, that was That was stupidity from Logan Paul on
x slash Twitter today. And it's just I love how
everybody's pro woman when it comes to being anti trans,
like mm hmmm, doesn't make any sense. I wonder if
they're pro woman when women are actually like, hey, I've
been abused, and they'd be like nah, or like you know,
you don't believe them, or they you know, they say
they're victims of sexual assault and don't believe them. You're
(31:01):
not pro woman, Then you're not pro woman when the
women you know are athletes and they're doing, you know,
great things in the athletic realm and then yeah, people
out there telling them to get back into the kitchen.
Are you pro woman then, or are you just anti
trance or you just you just hate you just hate
a certain segment of the audience here. It's terrible. But
(31:22):
outside of that terribleness from today, I still think Logan
Paul should lose, even though it's it's a tough call
because he is in his hometown and he's lost a
couple of matches recently. But I do think it's l
A Knight's time. At some point, you got to pull
the trigger on giving him, you know, elevating him to
to the next level. He can only be the guy
(31:44):
with you know, the catchphrases for so long. You know,
jay Us is kind of entering that territory too, but
I think will he'll be also involved in that bloodline angle,
so that'll tie him over for a little while before
it's going to be time for him to win a
championship of some sort maybe the ICE's title, maybe get
him and bron Breaker going at it heading into WrestleMania
something like that. But with La Knight, I think that
(32:07):
time is now. Otherwise, I think the people could start
to lose faith.
Speaker 1 (32:11):
In l A.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
Knight, And that's what you want to avoid because they're
with them, and they stayed with them despite the fact
that he's had some stumbles, you know, so he's run
into some roade blocks along the way. Lost in Roman
Reigns last year, was in Saudi Arabia, lost in the
four Way this year, to or a rumble. He did
be d aj Styles this year, but he hasn't done
a whole lot of things of notes since then. So
I think he needs this just to re energize that character,
(32:32):
get him back into the forefront. He's still obviously super over.
Every time he comes out, the people go crazy. They're
with them. I think if you want those fans to
stay with them, he has to beat a Logan Paul
at SummerSlam for the US title.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
That Slim Jym sponsorship will only go so far. Yeah,
I definitely think he needs a title to keep that,
you know, interest it. Really, I'm just surprised he hasn't
been giving it yet. But again, if he's not given
it at SummerSlam, then I think that's when you kind
of see the crowd like at some point the crowd
is just going to okay, Like he has the catch phrases.
(33:09):
You know, he has good mic skills, but you know
what else And you know, if he has a title
that gives you something that he can be on every
week and you know, have that belt, he's like, I'm
a champion. He could make promotional appearances as a champion.
Logan Paul's had two title defenses so far as US
champion or three, so it's you know, you're not gonna
(33:32):
you're not gonna get that little out of l A.
Knight being champions. So I do I do like that.
I do like l A. Night here, and I wonder
how you know Cleveland's going to react to you know,
it's very weird that we're seeing a hometown heel that
you know, you wonder how much he's going to be booed.
But I don't think it's going to be that hard
(33:53):
to boo him at SummerSlam, So I think L A.
Knight will win. Don't care how well you know, I
don't care if it's clean or not. But we got
to get that title on somebody that's there every week. Uh.
You know, I usually I don't care about that type
of stuff, but you know, at this point, I'd rather
have the title of somebody like La Knight who's there
(34:14):
every week and you know, has good promos. You know,
I don't want to have to see this. You know,
who knows if they'll have that prime logo in the ring.
You know they probably will.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
They're probably sweeping under the rug, you know, and just
like they'll sweap the thing where apparently Pat McAfee on
the show today kind of talked about the same thing,
and it's like, what are we doing here?
Speaker 1 (34:32):
They're Pat McAfee.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
I'm sure Pat McAfee played with people he knew were
physically abusing their spouses. Did he speak up for them? No?
I'm sure he knows people right now that he played
football with, whether it's college or the pros or since
he's retired, that's either sexually assaulted or physically battered their partner.
(34:53):
Was he worried about a man punching a woman? Did
he speak up then?
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Nope?
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Where was this talk? Then? Sometimes it's Okay to just
shut up, bro, because you literally you clearly don't know
what you're talking about.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
They admit it though, too. They're like, I don't have
all the information, but.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
They don't get it, and stop talking.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
Like you don't have to say something just because you
show you have to say something.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
A potential man physically male, physical physical body punching on
they're both women.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
What a you're talking about?
Speaker 3 (35:30):
It's stupid. It's really dumb. And I don't care to
call these people dumb because that's what they are. I'm
sorry now, they're dumb. Yeah, and you have had ample
opportunity in your past to speak up and be pro
woman and women's rights and all that stuff. I'm sure
they've had it. Almost guarantee you they both know people
who have done horrible things to women, because these horrible
(35:52):
things happen to women every day we watch a He
played in the football league, which is notoriously lenient on
people who have battered their partners. Notoriously lenient. You can
get the longest suspension for gambling. You know we are
here on the gambler. You get the longest suspension for
gambling than you do for physically assaulting your partner no one,
(36:16):
but no, we're not gonna spend time on that. Oh yeah, brother,
it's it's infuriating, honestly, and so you know, sorry, I
turned up a little bit, but like somebody's gotta say it,
and I'll say it. Do something.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Hopefully l A Night does something we need. We need
you know, some babyface champions and there I know Cody's babyface,
but you know what I mean. Well, uh, we'll head
to the w W Women's World Championship match Bailey versus
(36:56):
Naya Jacks. Bailey the champion, an underdog at plus one thirty,
Naya Jacks the challenger, a favorite at minus one seventy.
I think we kind of touched on it in the
first segment. I think I know where you guys are
gonna go, Bond, I know what your pick is, but
(37:17):
just for you know, the sake of this show, we
need to hear you say it in this segment.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
In this segment. In regards to which match, I'm sorry
I didn't.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Catch the Nia Jackson versus Bailey.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Nia Jacks versus Bailey. I think that Nia Jacks will
defeat Bailey for the Women's ww Women's Championship.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
However, oh, Oh, there's a However.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Oh, I think we will get a cash in second row.
I know, Jason, you said, you know you don't want
to do that two years in a row because we
did it with Yo Sky last year right on Bianca.
Similar situation, but I feel like it is similar in
the fact that they're cashing in a summer Slam right
after somebody wins the title. However, I think you can
still spin it with Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jacks because
(38:02):
they are kind of their homies right now, and then
they won't be homies with Tiffany Stratton. We're to cash
in on Nia Jack, So you can spin it forward
with that, where I don't know if they really spun
it forward last year with EO and Bianca in the
same way, right they were already kind of rivals anyway,
and then it just they just kind of kept that going.
But this would be a kind of a new chapter
(38:25):
in this story, you know, in a page turn and
the tonal shift, I should say, that's what I'm looking for,
a tonal shift in the story. Whereas nia Jack is like, Oh,
you're supposed to be my you know, my homie, and
you're doing this to me did me dirty, So you know,
maybe that'll lead into some bad blood and October. Obviously
we got bashing blin first, but you know, I think
(38:46):
a lot of the roads leading to also bad blood
in October, which is already I don't know if you
got seen and selling a lot of tickets in Atlanta,
a lot of tickets with bad Blood, which is not
like you know, Big Four, that's very much a B show,
but it ain't selling like a bee show right now.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
I do think they're like Ti, Tiffany Stratton's gonna be
a babyface, you know, like just getting pops. And I think, obviously,
if they to go that route, Nya Jacks can't be
a babyface because like no one's gonna tear her, you know,
like I just don't see that happening anytime soon. So, uh,
you know, if they do go that route, Lawn, I
(39:23):
could see everyone cheering for Tiffany Stratton and they kind
of cement that that turn. What about you, Jason, what
do you think?
Speaker 2 (39:30):
I think Naya Jacks wins the championship, But I think
you can have you can play with that story a
little bit. You can you can have Tiffany walk around
with the briefcase, still chumming it up with Naya. There's
just a title involved. I don't know that you want
to do the friend turns on friend too soon when
someone could turn into the wrestling show on Wednesday and
(39:52):
see that that's already happened. You don't want to have
those You don't want to I don't know that they
want to be you know, you just stole the storyline
for me, you know, I'm saying, And like, you know,
they don't want they don't they don't want that heat.
They don't have to have it. Also too, Bailey just
destroyed Tiffany's briefcase not so long ago, yes, which leads
me to believe that Tiffany is going to get some
(40:13):
sort of custom briefcase soon. They're not going to introduce
that and have her cash in immediately. If that happens,
they're gonna let her walk around with it because they're
gonna want to sell them.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Yeah, and that's I hear you, I hear you. But
if we don't know that, yes, yes.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Yeah, yeah, So I think I think you could have
the will she won't she? Friendship frenemy sort of dynamic
with Naya and Tiffany for a while until Tiffany's ready
to strike, and then you have her strike leading up
to Bad Blood. Like you don't do it immediately. You
still have the match of bad Blood, but you have
return after Berlin or in Berlin, or or maybe you
(40:52):
want to take it all the way to Survivor Series.
You could try that too. Hell, you want her to
hold it all the way to the Rumble. I don't care.
As long as the story is good. You can make
go as long as you want. But I don't think
you have to have the cash in immediately if Nya wins.
I think, if, as we said before, if Nya is
one of the most improved wrestlers in the in the
(41:13):
all of wrestling, as I as I said, if you
want to quote unquote reward her with a title run,
you don't want to, you know, take it right off
from under her as soon as she has it. So
I well, I agree with the outcome of the match.
I think the cash in can be left to breathe
just for a little while.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
I have a feeling that we might see Naya give
Tipany the new briefcase gift through it, you know, on SmackDown,
and then you just kind of you kind of like okay,
like out of sight, out of mind, and then boom Saturday.
You know, she can come out and be like, thank
you so much for this gift. So I'm going to
cash it in. Like but again, like Nya's got to
(41:54):
be in a you know, a disadvantaged position, and I
don't know if she wins, like how does she get there? Barely?
Not going to beat her up, you know, after the
bell or anything like that. So you know, I'm kind
of like torn on that if I want to see
it versus if I think it's a good idea. Bailey's rain,
I mean, it's been all right, I guess, But do
(42:16):
they make that switch or do they do Naya Jacks
and Tiffany Stratton without the title, because then you have,
you know, didn't has Naya gained the trust of those people?
I mean she again I said she was in the
main event, so I do believe she has a semblance
of trust within the decision makers that she didn't have
years ago. So I can see that. But I mean,
(42:39):
my gut feeling, I will go Naya Jacks. She is
the favorite in his match at minus one seventy, so
you know where Bailey goes from here. I don't know.
Damage control is all wrong now, So you know what's
next for her? Do they continue you know, the Naia
Jack's Bailey feud and with Tiffany in the background, you know,
we'll see. But I see Nia Jacks being crowd, you know,
(43:00):
like given her a moment that she probably didn't think
was ever coming, you know, especially after she got released
the first time. So you know, I think this is
like a coming of age moment for her. And you know,
she cried after winning Queen of the Ring. You know,
it's kind of hard not to feel, you know, like
happy for and you know, even though she's supposed to
be a heel and all this, and she has that
(43:21):
reputation of hurting everyone in the back, but then you
know a lot of people like her, and so we'll
see what happens. But I will I will go Ni
Jackson as well, and we will shift to the World
Heavyweight Championship match. Damian Priest the champion, also an underdog
plus three hundred go to against Gunther the favorite at
(43:42):
minus five hundred Jason, who's the champ walking out of
summerslant Ah.
Speaker 2 (43:47):
This is the toughest one to call honestly, for me,
the toughest match on the whole court to call. I
could honestly see them going both ways. I could see
them wanting to establish Damien by beating Gountro clean. Like
I said earlier, I can see absolute shenanigans going in
either guy's benefit. But if if I am listing out
(44:08):
all the different ways I think this can go, I
see more victory potential for Damien, be it clean or
through shenanigans, than I do for Gunter unless Ludwig Kaiser
comes out of the blue, but didn't he like really
hurt himself he's done for a while, or yeah yeah, yeah,
he's not coming back anytime soon, so and then Gunser
(44:30):
could just blame that, blame it on the fact that
he didn't have protection or something like that. There must
there has to be a way, I think, for guns
to eat this loss without it really hurting him all
that much. And then if you want to just extend
it one more month and have him win in Berlin,
which I think makes more sense, I think him going
in as the champion doesn't make as much sense. You
(44:51):
want that he just won here pop, especially from a
from a non American crowd, which has now firmly established
itself as hot for anything. They no matter where it is,
if it's not if it's not in the contiguous forty eight,
that crowd is on fire.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
So giving them the know how Hawaiian and Alaska crowds are,
so we can't you know.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
Right, Yeah, I can't know the no comment on Lulu
or Juno. I bet Juno is kind of cold though.
Speaker 3 (45:23):
Hawaii's kind of hot. Maybe on.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
But yeah, I I'm I'm leaning Damian Priest. But it's
a cautious leave.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
Well what do you think?
Speaker 3 (45:39):
Yeah, this is a tough one because you got Bash
in Berlin, which is a is a show that would
make sense for going through to get the title. But
how do you get out of Summer Slam? Do you
do like a count out or disqualification or something like that.
It's a tough one because you got to find balor
does he get involved somehow because he's still mad at
(46:00):
the I'm gonna play it safe and I'm gonna go
with my gut. My gut has been telling me all
summer that Summer Slam is Gunther's time. They got these vignettes,
they've invested all this time. I feel like you got
to pay it off with goon through winning. Now, that
doesn't mean there isn't a rematch at Bash in Berlin.
And I know what you're saying, Jason, and that you
(46:22):
know you want him to win the title there, but
you could also when you're doing your promotional run in
Berlin ahead of the show, it'd be nice to have
Goonther with the title as he's doing all of his
promotional you know stuff. You know they didn't do that
with Drew McIntyre and you know I clashed the Castle,
but that that story was about him winning in his
(46:43):
home country. But I think you can you can flip
it around and not have Gunther be the sentimental favorite
as far as like chasing the title. He can be
the champion and be the conquering returning hero as world champion,
and you'll still get the pop, You'll still get the reaction,
you still get the hometown, home country reaction that you'll
get anyway. But I think for the sake of him
(47:05):
doing the promotional material, promotional run and interview after interview.
At the interview, I'm sure they're gonna have him doe
in no days and weeks leading up. It'd be nice
to have him, you know, walking around with that Ward
heavyweight title on his shoulder while he's doing it. So
I'm gonna play a safe I'm gonna go with our
board the Ring General Gunther to be your new world
(47:27):
heavyweight Champion.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
The most surprising outcome at WrestleMania was Guthur losing the
Interconninental Championship. In my eyes, I did not think he
was gonna lose, But right after that happened, I'm like, oh,
he's gonna be world champion. Like very soon they announced
Bash of Perlin and I'm like, okay, it's gonna be there.
I still am gonna go with my gut and say,
(47:51):
Guther is gonna win the title at Bash of Perlin.
So I'm gonna go Damian Priest here, even though he's
a plus three hundred underdog. But you know, if Nia Jass,
Queen of the Ring, she wins the title, I don't
think they do the you know, the double title win
for the King and Queen of the Rings, so uh, Unther,
(48:13):
maybe he wins by d h or something. I don't
know if they're going to go that route, but it
does lend itself to another match between the two if
they do with you know, Shenanigans, So I will, I will.
Maybe I should say Damien Prince will keep the title,
but maybe Guther wins by count out. I don't know.
That will kind of be wame for the SummerSlam, right,
(48:38):
I'm just gonna pick Damien Priest to keep the title,
so I'll go with him. We'll head to the Women's
World Championship. Live Morgan a minus five hundred favorite against
Rhea Ripley at plus three fifty. This is one of
the more interesting matches because we don't know if Dom
(49:00):
you know, the Seria is gonna interfere or what, or
if he on behalf of who you know that's out
there Finn Baler. Obviously we talked about it in an
hour one segment one. I should say, what do we
go on Live Morgan or Rea Ripley.
Speaker 3 (49:18):
I'm gonna go Live Morgan. I think Live Morgan has
done a tremendous job with this whole storyline over the
summer while real Ripley was out, and I think it
would be a disservice to her to have her drop
it as soon as Ripley comes back. I think the
real question is does Dominic Mysterio side with her and
turn on rear Ripley. I don't think it happens quite
(49:39):
that easy. Maybe we'll get down at another time, but
I do think Dom obviously gets involved and maybe he
accidentally helps Liv Morgan retain the championship. But I do
think Live Morgan holds onto that championship for at least
one more month, maybe until Bash of Berlin or maybe
even Bad Blood, but for a little while longer at
least Live Morgan will be your Women's World Champion, Jason.
Speaker 2 (50:01):
So I'm also going with Liv Morgan, and I think
I think the turn happens, but I'm not entirely sure
if it's Dom or Finn. Honestly, I think if the
Finn balor seeds are there and they're noticeable enough that
(50:24):
people can pick up one, it could be a red herring.
Could be going towards Dom this whole time, But I
really don't know which way they're going to go. Part
of me think wants it to be Domb because, as
I said, I was watching some preview stuff and one
of the people I was watching was like, what if
Dom costs three of the title and Monday Night were
(50:44):
all starts with Rhea flipping out, breaking stuff, coming to
the ring, screaming about how you know I'm going to
get you. This isn't the end. I'm going to make
sure you pay all this other stuff, and Adam Pierce
comes out and he's like, listen, you need to calm down.
I'm already losing an enough. I have enough. I have
enough lack of control over here with Drew McIntyre and
(51:04):
all that nonsense. That's finally over. I don't now need
you starting. I will get you a rematch with Live Morgan.
You just have to calm down. And then Ria just
goes who said anything about Live Morgan? I want Dominic
Mysterio And then it's like some sort of inter gender
match that would be awesome. Uh, but yeah, I am
(51:25):
going Live, and I do think a turn happens. I
just don't know what that turn looks like.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
Yeah, I'm going to live too. I kind of like
Vaughn's interpretation of dom accidentally costing Rea. I think they
play that up a little more don Can but you know,
accidentally on purpose type thing, where it's it's been his
plan all along. He's been with Live, you know, before
Rea even got back and stuff like that, and they
could possibly do that. But again that Finn Valor things
(51:56):
out there. You know, they planted those seeds, you know,
many weeks in a row. So but you know, maybe
that was, like you said, red Herring and maybe it's
been domb all along. I do like how there's more
intricacy in the creativeness of storylines in w W in
general under the Triple H ragime, So that could be
(52:16):
part of it. Obviously, you know, going into this maatch
and coming out of it Rhea Live would be a
perfect Hell and a Cell match. So does do you
wait for Ria to recain the title that Hell on
a Cell possibly? You know that's and it's early October.
It's not even that far away two months, you know
from now, so they could still stretch that out a
(52:37):
little bit, I think. And but yeah, I agree with
you guys. I think Live retains the title. Now we
have the WWE Championship, Cody Rhodes minus five thousand versus
Solo Socoa plus twelve hundred, the largest underdog of a night.
(53:01):
Does Solo Siicola win the w W Championship at SummerSlam?
Speaker 2 (53:06):
Hell no, no, flat out, zero shot, not even close.
Speaker 1 (53:12):
Does Paul Hayman come back.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
If Roman Rains comes back, then Paul Hayman comes back.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Do you think Paul Hayman walks to the entrance, stands there,
doesn't even say a word, just looks back boom Roman's
music hits. I love it.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
Roman call Roman Reigns bad music hits.
Speaker 3 (53:37):
I loved when Paul had the two phones he call
Roman call Rock.
Speaker 1 (53:45):
That was great, that was great. I agree to Cody Rhodes.
You know, obviously you gonna stay champion. I don't think.
But again, SLA has been playing those seeds. You know,
what if what if they pull an evolution two thousand
and four new Or and beats Chris Benoit's for the
World Heavyweight Championship. I stole that from Long because that's
(54:05):
what's uh so that does if the Solo somehow beat Cody.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
No, if Solo beats Cody, we're gonna have a insider
betting scandal on our hands because those odds are not
something that can be wild, right, they're wild. No, there's
no way they could feasibly do this. This match, This
match is just set dressing for Roman returning and being
like Solo, what you're doing, Pal, I mean like, what's
(54:35):
going on here? You know, I was just taking a
little break.
Speaker 1 (54:41):
What if that's Roman's character? Would that be something where
like he's just kind of nonchalant like that, like you're
not serious right now? It's like, well, would that be
interesting that that's going to change Roman's character a little bit?
Speaking a little bit, because Solo is running rampant with
a new bloodline, I could kind of see that or
(55:02):
Roman just let staring Dagger's throwng you know, like, yeah,
that would be that would be interesting, it would But
we're so we're on board. Cody Wins, Does Roman come?
Does he definitely appear at SummerSlam?
Speaker 2 (55:16):
I think so?
Speaker 3 (55:17):
Yeah, Yeah. I think people were disappointed if you didn't.
At this point. As much as Solo as mentioned Roman
rains and his promos leading up to this point, it
almost feels like it should happen almost, you know, like
if he doesn't again, I think people will be let
down and you could always drag it out, I guess,
and people will still be excited when it does happen.
(55:39):
But I don't think he wanted people to leave Summer
Slam again. You're arguably your second biggest show of the
year with a bad taste in their mouths because they
didn't get Roman Rains. Roman Rains debuted as a tribal
chief at SummerSlam four years ago. It feels, you know,
fitting that he would kind of re debut. Is this
again another tonal shift in the character? All so at
(56:00):
Summer Slam. So it's not like it's required and you know,
but it feels like at this point it almost has
to happen with the way they've been kind of building
up to this point, especially because Solo has been mentioning
Roman rings by name and these back room, smoky, back
room promos he's been cutting. At the end of SmackDown,
(56:20):
I do.
Speaker 1 (56:21):
Think do you think Roman and Solo stared at each
other in the ring as SummerSlam goes off the air?
Is that how we're going to see it.
Speaker 2 (56:30):
I don't even think Roman has to hit the ring.
He used to be at the top of the ram
and Solo like gathers his troops around him all scared.
Speaker 1 (56:38):
Maybe he just Solo high tails it out the other end.
Maybe because I don't know how you how you fade
to black with them just in the ring and staring
at each other like the Solo high tail it at
the opposite out of the stadium and then I don't know,
I think that would be better suited to end the show.
I don't know if like because a stared out just
makes you want more, but that's obviously the point of wrestling,
(57:01):
you want more after the show ends. But I could
see that obviously they did it when Brock came back.
They were staring down Roman after Roman beat John Cena
and a couple of years ago. So uh, you know
that's the moment, right, That's what the moment we're waiting for.
Sorry Cody, but we won Roman. Yeah, I love you, Cody,
but we want Roman and what some people consider the
(57:25):
real main event, Drew McIntyre CM Punk the last match
of the night Drew McIntyre minus three twenty five CM
Punk plus two fifteen the Cethra Obviously, seth Rawli is
the special referee, will most likely play a role in
the finish. Here who you got on?
Speaker 3 (57:47):
I'm going to see him Punk.
Speaker 1 (57:49):
I know he's the under the underdog though.
Speaker 3 (57:51):
But the thing that I think is a lot of
people are missing from this is that Drew McIntire still
has that Dan bracelet. That's like the crux that's like
the magovernment of this story. And how does see him
Punk get that if he loses, he's fighting not just
for you know, pride, fighting for his wife and his dog.
(58:12):
And yeah, I think that Seampunk overcomes the odds of
the betting odds and also the odds of seth Ronald's
being the referee and of course going against Dream McIntyre
in that he defeats Drew McIntyre and gets that bracelet
back and he can go home for a little bit
and be a good family man again. Yeah, I just
(58:33):
don't see how he beats him Punk after Dream McIntyre's
already taken that bracelet from him and I know it's
a you know, a little couple dollar bracelet, but they
say it on commentary it means the world to see
him Punk. Then he goes out there and loses and
he doesn't get it back potentially, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (58:50):
Then he quits again and he hasn't won a match on.
Speaker 3 (58:54):
TV since he turned out obviously because he didn't win
the World Rumble. Then he got hurt, So I think
Seampunk kind of needs it. As crazy as that sounds,
almost Drew McIntyre, I would admit he can also use
a big win, but I think Sampunk kind of needs
(59:15):
it more, especially because Drew McIntyre has the bracelet.
Speaker 1 (59:18):
What do you think, Jason.
Speaker 2 (59:20):
I think I'm taking Drew and I could make the
argument that Drew is wearing the bracelet during the match
where it brings the puts it on a ring post
or whatever, and Cempunk could go for the kill and
see the bracelet, take it back in his possession and
turn around into a claymore and that's how he uses
(59:44):
so the bracelet. Can he can get the bracelet back,
but it costs him the match. So yeah, you know
what I'm saying like that, I think Drew, after taking
away Clash at the Castle, after taking away WrestleMania, you
gotta give the man something, and this, I think is it.
So yeah, I'm going through.
Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
I am going Drew as well, but I agree with me, Okay, okay,
I feel like this is gonna lead to seth and punk.
I think Drew's eventually gonna just rip the bracelet in half.
You know, He's gonna break the bracelet and that's gonna
make Sampunk snap and so it's gonna be mad that
(01:00:25):
Seampunk's not listening to him because he's the ref. And
then they're gonna I don't know, I don't know if
they're gonna do the same thing. Summer ninety seven, we
just did a deep dive on that for The Street Shooters,
and that ending was a lot, like I really love
that ending just because it was you know, unique, I
don't know about like we we kind of mess around
with the ending, kind of like, well, why didn't you
(01:00:46):
know Sean just disqualified Brett because he's the one who
hit the Undertaker with the chair and stuff like that.
Like it's funny, but it's very well done for that era,
and it leads into so much more down the road.
So one of my favorite endings in general. But I
could see something similar I don't and possibly Drew and
Seth get into it, and you know, I don't know
(01:01:08):
if Seth goes after Drew and accidentally hits Punk and
that does that. I don't know if they do that specifically,
but I feel like we're in for Sampunk just not
listening to Seth, and then we go from there and
Drew gets his win and then we kind of pivot
to Seth and Seampunk down the road, and you know, obviously,
I think Drew wins because of that. So I have
(01:01:30):
Drew Jason as Drew Vaughn has punk. One of us
or two of us are gonna be wrong. So that's exciting.
And that is it for our SummerSlam round Table. We're
gonna take all these notes and we're gonna come back.
We're gonna make sure that you all know our predictions
and how we did. We're not really gonna do that,
(01:01:51):
but hey, this was a fun hour. I really enjoyed it.
