The San Francisco Giants surveyed the trade market and opted to stand (mostly) pat in hopes of an offensive resurgence, despite most evidence suggesting one was not forthcoming. Now, the pitching has to be perfect in order to win. Is there a chance that the dog days of August could help a moribund group of hitters even for a time or will the team being susceptible to the same pitchers' fatigue as every other time flatten out any offensive gains?
