Speaker 1 (00:11):
M HM official tuns down side of the lane, started
by the veteran horpor smolding. The running started Cordett and
swings the back of mitcheld Mintol gun running. Why am
I going to the baskets Berry's Corners broadcasting live from

(00:38):
Rocket Mortgage field House on those sunny shores of beautiful
Lake Erie. Well, I don't downtown Cleveland. Hello, you tuned

(01:01):
in to Wine and Go Radio down Now you're your host?
Rafa is this more on number one? And Joe Gi
put more on number two on the phone. Yeah, Hey, everybody,
we're back after a prolonged absence. We still haven't found

(01:23):
out whether we would have banned suspended. We were on ice,
but we didn't hit the record. I'll tell you what.
I'll explain the absence in segment three. How about that,
I'll give the whole explanation. I am Joe g to
my immediate right Orito, and I hope I'm pronouncing that right.

(01:46):
Rapa just got back from Mexico where his nemesis Joe
Buck butchered his name like he always does. After after
i'd send him a my producer said, you know, tell
me how you spell your name. So I spell all,
you know with the high fen and then I said,
I send you I'll do one better. I'll send you
a recording the way they do. He didn't need Hernandez

(02:08):
brito Hernandez h silent brito the t you pronounced, so
you know Joe Buck did. He swiped that left and deleted.
He deleted it right off his phony. He's like, screw that, dude,
I was saying. And then I go home and watch
and he said, and I'll running with the Mexican flag,
Willie Hernandez Mexican parents. And that is so public address

(02:32):
announcer Rapha Hernande Brito. It's so disrespectful. Man. My father
hate that. He should hate it. It's wrong, man, it's wrong.
It's it's it's it's uh dismissive. I think he doesn't
on purpose. He probably does. He's kind of cocky, great
play by play guy, by the way, but his father
was awesome. He's not bad. His father was one, I

(02:55):
don't want to say one of my mentors, but one
of the guys that actually gave me a lot of
good advice when I met him, and he was so
nice to me right off the bat, you know, right
on that on that night my first ever event at
It was the Broadcasters Dinners Association Broadcaster Association Dinner in
New York City of the world of Astoria, Toxedo black Tie.
Is there where you met? That's where I found myself

(03:17):
in a table to my right, Muhammad Ali to my left,
job Jo, Jack Bock, John Miller, Pat Summer roll, and
I'm like, what the hell am I doing here? I'll
tell you one guy who would never mispronounced your name,
Pat Summer Well, well, John Maddens, Wait did you say
John Miller, John Mann, John Miller, John Miller would never,

(03:39):
he would big Spanish. He's like when he over, he'll
do like a nice one. Gonzal. Yeah, he gets it
all too, man. I love John Miller. That's a great table.
You're yeah, yeah, And I forget who I was so
but I spoke with Jack Bock that night and he

(03:59):
told me this story. You know, I had read a
couple of his books, and I told him how he
was the reason why I wanted to become a broadcaster
when I heard him call calling the Because even back then,
before I even was had a thought of being on
the radio, I used to listen to the radio and
watch the TV the game on TV, and I remember
listening to him calling the Kirk Gibson Homer of tennis

(04:20):
a personally in game one of that series against the
doll Years and against the Age, and I remember hearing like,
I don't believe what I just saw. And it was
the first time that I said the home, My god,
that's what I was, you know, That's what I was feeling, right,
And I was like, man, I wish someday I'm gonna
Obviously took me a few years of experiment and to

(04:40):
decide to swallow my passion, but I wanted to have
the moment that that Jack Bok had had in the
World Series, and I think Game seven in Aroical one
was my Jack Bob mom and that I was like,
you know, So I told him story once and that
day he told me the story how he used to
call the guy the car in all games, and he

(05:01):
used Joe Back used to bring a recorder and sit
in the broadcast booth in front called the game and
on the way home they would listen to it and
Jack will give Joe tips and correct him and it's
pretty cool. So but then I told him the story
about how his father was so nice to me. And
how you know I always wanted to be a broadcaster

(05:22):
because his father put it and the guy that like
somebody had been telling me that story about my father
having that kind of effect on that person, I would
have been like at least happy to hear that. Yeah,
and Joe Buck gave you nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. He
wasn't impressed. That's sad. Hey, let's talk about the cats.
Let's talk about it a good talk about other guests. Man,

(05:43):
we gotta wait to leave him, and he's gotta warm
up from he's got to get his ship to get
his stuff together. Uh. Care's a nice win, man, and
much needed win, like just with the doctor because after
coming off a rough weekend on the road, came home
make a fifth fifth straight at home, really thumped the

(06:04):
Sixers who looked kind of disinterested tonight. I think it
is the perfect game for all our gms and coaches
and scouts on social media to realize and and and
and finally discovered have proof that you cannot get too
low on your lows and two highs on your high
Because in Toronto, for whatever the reason, the Bolt didn't

(06:27):
want to go in and tonight against the Sixers, that
were shooting it into Lake Erie and then one shot
in the whole third quarters. And the bench was perfect
in the second quarter. In the second quarter there was
sixteen or seventeen, I believe, and the bench was ten
for ten and the bench five five. The second unit
needed a good game too. They finally beat the other unit,

(06:48):
which is something that I've been hurting, you know, and
and and I think that it is also the proof
of what we now can actually probably called Cavaliers basketball,
which is when we play defense and the ball moves
on the other end, and everybody scores, and Garland has
his us he has six assisters, I think in the
first quarter, and and and when the ball moves and

(07:11):
the guy with the extra pass takes the shot, good
things are going to happen. And I think tonight is
the perfect example of the Cats going back to that
to what got us the eight wins in a row
to season too, to get everybody excited. We play so
well under at home, we need to figure out a
way to bring that energy. You know. We played in

(07:32):
the third quarter, but that is usually our our killers. Heell,
you know, we kept the lead even though we went
up to thirty one. We came down, but we never
never went below the twenty one and a half time,
so everything was good about about about tonight. And then,
like I said to you before, I don't know if
I was happier for the player or the legend. But

(07:52):
Jim Chones when Mamai Diakita came out the first time
in the game, he stood up and clever, and I
did too, because the aite. He is one of those
guys that you root for. He worked so hard and
he's trying to make it in this league and I
think eventually he will, but I appreciate what he brings

(08:13):
to the court. They should put a camera on Jones
for the game because fans and he was putting a
shirt on and taking pictures and thinking about all fans
don't realize how animated that big man is during Like
he'll fan a raf he'll just put up his big part.
Oh no, he'll just fan a guy or you know
he's going around a fan of me, like like look
at that, that's what I mean. He he's so animated

(08:34):
during the game, and real quick when during our absence,
our prolonged absence, Jim Jones celebrated his fifteen I'm sorry broadcast. Yes,
and uh, hey, let's I want to play it just
a little quick tribute to Jim Jones right here, he

(08:58):
sweets this car man, How you doing? I always had
profound memories when I come back to Cleveland. I'll never
again when you took me into your house, man, with
your family, and you're a terrific person. Congratulations on this
big night tonight man, and uh continued success as well.
I'm not surprised. I knew you always had it in you.

(09:19):
You always tenacious and sagacious. You guys telling the spilling
their guts, you know, minute talks and everybody's swearming though
what is he gonna tell me? What does he say?
You know? But it was really nice and did Jeffrey
Osborn put out a private concert for us, and we
were all up to dance for even Kareem got up. Yeah,

(09:41):
he was up upper body, his upper body was booming,
but not too much below his weight. So I met
the same spot. In fact, I stayed out the floor
so long I lost the feeling in my right leg.
I said, can we sit out? And I said, SEF, why,
I said, I can't feel my left leg. Mr Jared Allen,

(10:01):
Congratulations jim on the career broadcast number one thousand, five
hundred with the Calves. Tim, Well, you gotta get this
baby down the tent by the end of the quarter.
You know, you want to give yourself a realistic goal.
And I think it is they've showed that they have
what they call spurtability, but they have to sustain it.
I've never heard that word Park used to talk about

(10:24):
that spurta milities, the ability to turn it up. Jimbo Fellasy,
that is on fIF hundred broadcast games. My friend, you
are part of these Cavalier's essence as much as anybody
in the history of this franchise. And I want to
congratulate you and wish your fifteen hundred more. And my
only question is do you have more technical fouls or

(10:46):
more gained broadcasts in the NBA? Congrat my friends. Classics right,
music from the eighties, uniforms from the eighties. Joe Jett
bounces us back. I don't see it in your eyes.
You don't know who she is. I you I I'm waiting.
I'm looking for that clipper. There's no clippers. I have

(11:07):
a vague recollection of everybody. This is Kevin Love just
want to say congratulations Jim on a career broadcast number
hundred with the Casts. Now, this was a dream come true,
and I just want to thank everybody for giving me
a chance to be a part of it as a player,
even as an announcer, and then as a great, great
bass player. Why are you laughing? Of course I've got last.

(11:31):
Of course, this is Kobe Altman from your Cleveland Cavaliers.
Congratulations Jim on a career broadcast number hundred with the Calves. Unbelievable, Jim.
If that's his shot, John, We ran a lot of
that last year, Tim John, Tim John timidly right either
for three ball? No, good bye? Wanna make her high?

(11:52):
This is cterric match. Well, Jim, you are the damn man.
Fifteen hundred games. Brother, I love you, man, I love you.
You know I can't wait for the next fifteen hundred. Actually,
you know what I was talking, you know, thinking about
Jim Jones, and I calculated how many recaps I've written

(12:14):
since I started with the Cabs, and it's and my
record and my record is eight seven and eighty one. Wow,
that's pretty good. Yeah, that's pretty good. Over five Yeah.
So anyway, so I want to get you a job
in Mexico as a coach. Hey man, speaking of Mexico,
you are freshly back from Mexico where you are kind

(12:36):
of public enemy number one because you're always well, you're
always dogging their soccer team and not in the World Cup.
Now are they in the World Cup where they limited?
They just got eliminated, and didn't they win and give eliminated?
Didn't they? See? Now that goes when we talked about
earlier this morning about how ties are good and you
can win a game and get eliminated. It's it's such
a messed up. There's nothing difficult about it. It's what

(13:02):
I'll explain it to you. Cry. Two teams divided and
into eight groups. Each group plays a round robin round
which is three games one again, you know, like the
calfs one for all and all for one, right, and
then at the end of the at the end of
the thing, the top two teams on each group advanced
to the round of sixteen. So how could you win

(13:23):
your last game and not advance Because Mexico lost the
second game and tie the first one, so they only
have one point going into the last game. So what
did they have to do? What could they have done
in a game begin they could have scored one more
goal to have a very goal differential. They ended up
giving up a goal in like in in in the
in the in the extra time again. Man, that would

(13:44):
have made it even worse because they would have been
tied with Poland, who lost to Argentina on the third game. Right,
they were tied in points, tied in goal differentials, and
the next type breaker was the fird play typebreak, which
was the yellow cars and Poland had yellow carson confuted
because they committed less fouls. That'd be like if the

(14:07):
Calves played a round robin tournament with the Bulls and
the Magic and the Lakers, and at the end of
it they won their last game but didn't score enough points,
That's what they'd be like, Yeah, and they would don't qualify.
Because that's what I'm saying that were there before the
game started. It's very confusing to me. That's better than
saying and there's no sucks. Well I'm not gonna say

(14:27):
it sucks. I'm just saying that I don't really it
was a great day. Then the Calves won Argentina one,
Brazil will win to know tomorrow and Mexico got eliminated
on the way back home. And then when when does
America play? America plays on Saturday against the Netherlands. How
is the Netherlands good? The name team and it depends
what they are now, But I don't know. That's one

(14:48):
team that should be a world champion by now, but
they have. They have lost two straight. They lost two
straight finals to the home team in seventy four and
in seventy eight Germany and Argentina. And you maintain that
Mexico will never win away in my lifetime. Mexico will
never win a work up and will El Salvador. Now
we might not even make you know what I always

(15:10):
say every war every four years, Elsavo chose the world
that nobody plays with All Salvador because we'll never make
it there. Pickle myself too, that's well, that's good, that's good.
And America will win. You say they will when they
have they could, they could because of the way the

(15:31):
system is here that that support and the results come first.
And then Mexico is money first. And then you told
me Italy was not allowed in because they didn't qualify
the first presidents against Italians, that's what you're saying no,
I did not say that. I thought you did. No Mexico.
It only didn't qualify very hard in Europe because they
have groups of four to qualify to the World Cup

(15:51):
and only one team makes it from that group and
the second team, the second place goes into like a
plane again to all the seconds. So it's like you
can you end up having matches that are like really good.
Did Germany make it? Yes? And they might make it
into the second round by you know, because they had
a plain. They have to play Costa Rica, right or

(16:12):
they already beat Costa Rica. I don't know, you know,
now's a good time to bring you know, they have
to play Costa Rica because Spain Spain's court seven one
against Costa Rica, and then Costa Rica has a chance
to qualify even after giving up seven. I was gonna say,
if you want to talk a little German soccer, we
could bring in our two times German two Tonic friends. Yea,

(16:33):
the Golden Boyado. It means a German soccer like aficionado.
I think I think it does make you a German
soccer aficionado. I mean I got a lot of German
in me, so that's kind of where my where your
loyalties are outside of the United States. I paid cheer
for them over others. And you watch faithfully, I mean

(16:54):
you you watch, you're into it, like, yeah, I cheer
for a cheer for Liverpool on the on the on
the club and like if they have if they got
a seventh thirty game on a Saturday morning, I'm up
for it. Did you play soccer coming up? Okay, that
makes sense. Then I got to the office today and
they have a TV in my in my in front
of my desk, and it's like ESPN Steven screaming Agmith

(17:16):
is on the on the TV. I'm like, what the hell? Well,
I mean like, oh, we really care about is the
American games? I think? And they showed didn't They show
the USA game on the track, which had been cool.
I should show all of the game. I think that's
great that you show the Brazil game. Yeah, you know,
let me the finals there it should be. I will
come let me sit in there. I would. I would
actually come watch that. I think they'd be pretty cool.

(17:38):
And I watched America versus iranap band and it did
you watch the game? Did you see the one? Dude?
Go down on the ground screaming part of the game,
and they're want to get into that. I just think
that they have to go on one condition. Put the
Spanish broadcast because man, in English, it is like they're
calling a funeral. Oh my god, they're so boring. Yeah,

(18:03):
they're just they're just not it's not I can't get
into it. Yeah, no, you're right, it's it was not
that great. So yeah, let me let me come into
let me come into work tomorrow and just like set
up shopping a sweet, like on a table that will
be the best. Yeah. Yeah, you're watching on the Jumbo.
It's normally string field level face the hun and they

(18:29):
have a table that yeah, because normally you come in
in the morning and then you go take a nap
in a sweet for like right, um, a couple of hours.
Not a sweet, I got it somewhere else in the fild. Okay,
you take a little sis staff for maybe four or
five hours, penhouse. Then you come back up, punch out
and then leap yeah, or or I mean sometimes I
just you know, just leave my desk to standing and

(18:49):
just like set up shop rut of there. Okay, go
to sleep on my desk. Golden boy, what do you
got for us? Man? Give us some news around the league. Um,
so we'll we'll talk first quickly on the NBA. UM,
the in season tournament potentially, it seems like it's going
to be a thing starting next starting the next regular season,

(19:12):
mid season kind of tournament sometime in November, similar to
like how European soccer does you know Champions League foot
all that kind of stuff, Like you guys have have
thoughts on this, not knowing you know what the format
is entirely, not knowing what the prize kind of money.
I I suppose prize kind of situation is for this.
That's kind of the thing. I guess, my I don't

(19:34):
know all the rules, but who what do you win?
That's kind of like that's going to be a difference
on whether the players get into it. Yeah, but I
think it's also going to be because at the end
of the day, you know, it's all about money. It's
all about everybody being happy with because not just the
play is did to make money because you want to
memory TVs contract is already established, right, So I don't

(19:57):
know how they're going to make the trust that the
league will figure out figure it out, but if the
players are not interested in making sure that you have
those bragging rights and you want the Golden boy Cup whatever,
it's gonna be called the Golden boy Cup, right, but
it has to be something that somebody gonna take pride in.
What's what I mean? You have to incentivize it, and

(20:18):
I don't know how they're going to do that. Like
in Europe the Champions League, which is the tournament that
all the league champions in the in the in the
European Confederation, they played the tournament and first the groups,
like the World Cup, the group stage, and then they
go into a knockout stage. Most team man coaches get
fired for not winning that tournament. Even so when when

(20:40):
they win the league locally, okay, so what do they
win when they win that, they just want money and
bragging rights. It's like louder Horn and the Big, the
Big I've been talking a hundred years history here, Yeah
we have, but the NBA doesn't have that. So what
is But at one point, at some point he started, yeah,
you know, but it's hard to say that somebody in

(21:00):
the year, and you know how we're talking about traveling
being the minute that sometimes this guy's gotta go to
Russia to play in the snow and come back because
at the beginning, it's like home and away. Serious is right,
obviously in basketball is gonna be different. But it's all
a matter of them coming up with a format that
will create not only excitement with the fans but also

(21:24):
with the players, the team, the sponsor, the TV. It's
it's it's I mean, there has to be some kind
of drama. There has to be some kind of incentive.
There has to be. But I think you said something
that that some of the games with the Cup will
county towards towards the regular season. Okay, then that there
you go. That's one hurdle right there, and they're not having.
It has to be more than just regular season wins.

(21:45):
There has to be something. The only team, I think,
the only team that plays more is the teams that
go to the finals. So they played one more game
and everything is gonna be over in the regular season, right, Yeah,
it's season is still going to end in I'm whatever.
I'm always for more playoffs, always for more brackets, more playoffs,

(22:07):
more teams. So I'm good. I'm good with it. It's interesting.
I think it's interesting. I don't know how they're gonna
you know. The other thing, the other difference in the
European leagues in soccer is that they don't have playoffs.
They just played the They just played the regular season
and at the end of the day, the guy with
the most win win the league. So soccer is weird.
They of course have different football countries and its no

(22:28):
it's soccer. Do you play football with your hands? How
do you call it football? Another thing, kind of tournament related,
is just announced shortly after the cast the Sixers and
Night is the college Football Playoff is expanding for four
to twelve teams. I know it's it's a bit of
a source subject for at least two of us on this.

(22:49):
You know, guts right now because because not me. You know,
you're not a house. This is about That's what I'm saying.
This is about football and everything that happen with the
college football. He's noticing the decline that is just upon
coming upon Ohio State. So they're going to make sure
that at least twelve teams that don't make the play
Wait wait, wait, back up, did you say college footballs

(23:10):
in decline? Ohio State? States decline? It is it's not
a row if you make a twelve team tournament, even
if your West Virginia Mountaineers speak about that, my concrete
state vikings could even get in. My problem with that
Golden Boy is that whatever it is is that they

(23:31):
always keep judging by how big the school of the
program is, and sometimes there's like small schools with good records,
but they don't count because I so they I wonder,
like what's gonna if it's gonna mean, if it's gonna
mean that mid level schools are gonna make it? They wait,
like in college basketball, do yeah, but it's just gonna
mean that it's gonna be four big twelve and four

(23:54):
SEC and four big ten teams. Then then you're not
really doing anything for the sport. You're just gonna be
the reach a good che I mean in in I Like,
I don't know, maybe it's I think some of it
is just me being like out of school now, and
maybe some of it with West Virginia not being as good.
But like I've kind of soured on the whole college

(24:16):
football thing just because of the whole money thing. And
with four teams like you know, you know, we we
we could have a bit of a change up with
like TCU and you a C getting in this year,
but like it's still Georgia, Alabama is still in the conversation, Michigan.
House State is still in a conversation. I'm an a
House State fan, but like it's the same kind of
so you add more teams, you sure with more money,

(24:36):
and it's also it's also how your state can be
in a playoff every year, but like there's there's more,
there's more of a chance for chaos, which in you know,
which is good seeing ten State beating Michigan in the
Big Ten Championship and like getting in as an eleven seed,
and like, I don't know, could they play somebody close anyway?

(24:56):
I don't know. I don't know. I'm but I'm good
with the tournament. I am definitely good with with with
more teams, more, more playoffs, more football. I think if
I think it might drag me in a little bit more, well, yeah,
I see, I don't. I'm not a college football fan,
excepinitely Michigan stopping. I'm not. I'm for New York Man.
I don't, we don't. We don't do that's weird. New

(25:16):
Yorkers don't do college football. I think I remember maybe
on the lightest on the last episode we had. I
think you you told Rofit, You're like, if you live
it in an arbor, you'd be say that's true. You
just want to if I was in Mexican, I'll be
for USA. What else you gotta I'm gold Back to
the NBA. Are the like the Warriors? Okay? Are they okay? Right? Like,

(25:40):
they're they're fine, They'll make the playoffs and make some noise.
But are you, like, are you as confident in Yeah,
that's the question. Why do you mean by okay? Yeah?
Are they? Are they okay? Right now? That's a different story,
But like, are you as confident in them making it
to the Western Conference Finals out of the Western Conference
this year as you have been in the past seven years?
I am not. I am not. I think Raphael, I

(26:01):
think you disagree. I think you think, well, I don't disagree.
I just think that they'll be okay. I'm not saying
they're gonna win it all, but I'm saying they have
a chance because of their pedigree and because at the
end of the day, when you get to a serious
until you bring me a team here that you put
it in front of me, and say these guys are
built too. You know, if it wasn't it wasn't Draymond Green,

(26:26):
I actually would like the Warriors. I mean, I hate
him for beating us and everything like that, but he's
the only one on the team I just can't stand man.
That's it. That's it. Yeah, he doesn't bother me. None
of the other guys bothered me whatsoever. So so it's funny,
like a bit of a tangent. I think, uh, Clay
annoyed me a lot when we were playing them in

(26:47):
the finals. All for you, he said, because he was
so good offensively and so good defensively. But like I
have to thank him because he didn't say he poked
the bear. He poked the bear and say lebron to
take the high road and kind of chuckled in this
whole thing. I don't add a feudal fire, So I
kinda gotta think of a right And again, Clay doesn't
really bother me. Where's his cool captain's hatties. But it's

(27:07):
just like Draymond is just a He strikes me as
a as a bad person. I just don't think. Not
many people in that building like him, That's what I mean.
And I wonder, you know, in terms of like you're
probably gonna say it won't matter, and it probably doesn't,
you know, when push comes to shove in the playoffs.
But I wonder if that effects team chemistry. Man, I
can't when you have one dude punching and one thing

(27:29):
about how you don't have to be friends and hang
out to right, and I understanding the other thing is
that you want to avoid that person or you don't
want anything to do with even sometimes even playing with
that person right right, And it's I could see it
like breaking up a locker room like for for us,
for example, we talked about it, you know, earlier to

(27:50):
night about Carislvert and then it was so nice to
see him have a good night and get confidence and
you know they were calling plays for him there isn't
and talked about that they were calling place for him.
That's a team that's really together, the cancer a team
that's really together. I don't know how much they are,
but hey, maybe they're just so used to dreamer and
that it rolls right off and they don't care. I'll

(28:12):
tell you one thing. I'm not gonna be rooting for them.
I don't care. But in thinking about the West too,
like it's it's kind of tough this year. The Pelicans
look with like fully healthy with the you know, dominant
zion or close to it anyway, Like Memphis we've talked
about before. Memphis is I think Memphis is the one

(28:32):
that can actually do something, especially the way the West
is wrent out. I think it's like from one to
last time, I don't I don't know how much it
is now about from one to ten, there wasn't that
much is four and a half games, So it was
like and I think Jah could be the one, could
be figure that can change and take over and carry

(28:52):
a team, right. Yeah. On the other side, you have
guys that you know, like I don't, I don't trust
Phoenix that much. In if you put Phoenix and the Warriors,
they kind of have the same arsenal. But when you
the Grizzlies, that's I mean the Grizzli they're tough, they're
they don't have an experience. That's a big problem. What
do you what do you guess make of the Clippers situation?

(29:15):
Because health health health, health is the big thing. But
with every but with Kauai and yeah that's true, but
with Paul George with them there totally different doing you know,
doing load management every you know, however many games and
all this kind of stuff, like, are we confident that
they're going to know as good as we think they
are or at least on paper when it comes to playoff?
Time to play with doing his load management too, Like

(29:39):
when it comes to the Clippers, it's like a show
me situation. Every year I kind of say, well, it
could be the Clippers. It could be, but it's every
year they're hurt and they're banged up and they just
can't get it. So I can't really get with the Clippers.
But Tyler though, how about how about Zubos going for
thirty one and twenty nine? The other dameca? Wow, do

(30:02):
you mean to tell me you wake up at six
and am to watch those Premier League games? Say? I
used to, but then you wake up on the game
it's not a good one, and now it's six sturdy
and you're up it. If it's a if Liverpool play
on a seven, seven o'clock or seventh on a Saturday morning,
I'll get up for it. You remember being in New

(30:23):
York City where like you get up on like a
Sunday morning, go get newspaper and like a bar would
be pack with a bunch of like but fans. I mean,
they'd wake up at six o'clock in the morning. I'm
not much of a drunk. By seven, I'm not much
of a sucker. I bet the Golden Boys probably plaster
back right. Well, it's it's kind of funny. I remember.
I remember one time Liverpool played Man City was very,
very good in the English Premier League. They played him

(30:45):
at seven or seven thirty on a Saturday morning. West
Virginia had a home game that day. I got up
and at Liverpool we're losing like two nothing. At half
time they were down to ten men got a red
card before half time, Like all right, turn that off,
went to the tailgate. You know, you got about it all,
you know what I mean. There's a sportsman. So it's
good when you have something to forget about it. But

(31:06):
sometimes you're at home and like, you know, I don't know,
it's too early for me. Man, Well the Golden Boy
can he's different. Man, he's built now. It's different when
you were in the worst coast and there's a ten
am baseball game. That's that's pretty that's pretty cool. On
Sunday people, people who live in California, the best schedule

(31:26):
for and they love it too. Were four o'clock game
in and you can still do something with the wife
and you know, like you do something on Sunday and yeah, yeah,
they do love it, and I understand that it's a
it's pretty cool. So hey, Golden Boy, thank you so
much for coming on with news around the league. And
we are going to be right back with our special guests,

(31:47):
Dean Wolf. De Way his alma mater in the big
champions His alma mater could put Ohio State and I
never never met some else where they belong. I never
met so many Kansas State fans. All right, we'll be
back with Dean Wolf right after this on Wine and
Gold Radio. Good Wine and Gold Radio. Hi, A J.

(32:12):
Bondi Cavalier's ticket sales. Let me tell you something about
Wine and Gold Radio. Yeah, and no hard pass. This
is a flashbags. I'm bringing an air pistol with me

(32:36):
to every arena in the league, and I'm going to
shoot down every one of those stupid balloons. I'm gonna
be a flying ah. You're gonna hear pop pop at HI.

(32:59):
This is cow serious from the Athletic. I'd rather listen
to Chris Feedor's podcast than Wine and Gold Radio. Now
back to Wine and Gold Radio. Goodness, okay, everybody, and
welcome back to segment two of Wine and Gold Radio.
We are joined by the great Dean Wolf. Wait, before

(33:21):
we get going, I think that Wine and Gold Radio
should take total credit for the wolf call. We need
to get it going first. That's true, but I mean
it's it's it's already been there. I mean, Dean gets
a little credit for hitting shots, I guess, but really
we deserve all the credit for the wolf howl once
we get that going right. The question is, first of all,
we finally got the arena to do it, and welcome

(33:42):
to the show. Have you heard it? Would you? Is
it through that you don't hear anything when you're on
the court, or have you heard the howl? Um? You know?
At first I didn't hear it, um, But I had
some family and sound U here recently and they were like, man,
do you hear after you? Did you know, after you scored,
you hear the howl? And I was then then the

(34:02):
next game after that, I heard after once. I was like,
now we're trying to get the crowd to do it
from the stands every time. Every time you hit this
this is this is Um. I'm sure you remember you
get the good game against the Knicks, right and I
think three of you guys hit six triples at least,
So this is one of yours. Who can do who

(34:38):
Parliamental side? That is so perfect? That's awesome. So you
guys are a quarter away through the season, you're at
the quarter turn. Uh, what's different this season than last
season for the team? And you you know, I really
just think it's, Um, you know, our chemistry. You know,
we've been together, m matured a little bit. Um. Everyone
you know has another year under their belt. Um, and

(35:00):
you know we know what the goal is. Um. You know,
I think last year we came out, you know, we
surprised a lot of teams. I think we surprised ourselves
in a in a way. UM. And this year we
know what to expect, you know what we want and uh,
you know we're we're just we're just grinding for our
team's coming at you different this year, Like you said,
last year surprised, this year not so much. Yeah, this year,
I think we have more of a target on our back. Um,
you know, last year, I think some teams you were like,

(35:22):
it's you know, the calves, Well we'll just you know
through this one. Um. But this year I think we're
getting everyone's best shot. Um. And it's it's you know,
it's fun. Every every night's super competitive. You can't have
a night bad night offer you know, you lose, so um,
you know it's just this year is just a super
super competitive year. Yeah. You know right now in uh
in Wine and Gold Radio, Manhattan has a majority here

(35:44):
because Manhattan concess and Manhattan right right, and everybody knows
your story Dean. You know you you are the poster
child of hard work, pace off and you know on
draft that comes into coming to the league and then
you have to deal with all these different things that
have nothing to do with basketball or you are a
working with the pandemic and all that. But has your

(36:06):
approach change, if any, now that you definitely have a
much bigger role in this team and and and you
know one of the leaders in the team. You no
longer have to expect whether or not you're gonna play
or not in like you are part of the mix.
So has the approach change has deemed weight change? Um,
I don't think the approach has really changed at all. Um.

(36:28):
You know, the past few years, I didn't know if
I was gonna play, but I still prepared like I
was gonna play every game. Um, this year, I'm doing
the same thing. I prepare like I'm gonna play every game,
and I usually do play every game. So, UM, the
approach has really stayed the same. I just think the
expectation from the coaching staff and and my teammates for
myself is just way higher than it has been in
the past. And you know, it's it's not a bad thing.
It's a good thing to have that much expectation. But

(36:50):
you know, I don't want to go out there and
let anyone down. So my approach stays the same, just
because I want to go out there and help us
win and not let anybody down. And for all of
us humans here that you know, there's a pretty shade
the game of basketball. I always say that in the NBA,
from one to fifteen are talented players. It doesn't matter
whether they play or not. But in your case, then

(37:11):
now that you come to play, how much of that
help the consistency of getting the minute? Because we talk
about how that helps, But like I want to hear
it from you. You know, not only you know you're
gonna play, but in terms of developing your game, how
big a difference is that? Uh, you know, I think
it's it's big just you know, you know you can
go out there and play free. Um, you know it's basketball.

(37:31):
You're gonna make mistakes. Um, but you know, I think
you know when you're when you're not sure how much
you're gonna play or when you're gonna play, if you're
gonna play, Um, you get a little nervous to make mistakes.
And you know that kind of you know bothers the
way you play a little bit. You know you're not
just free and loose. Um, but you know, now you know,
I know why I'm out there. Just go out there
in battle every time. I know I'm gonna make mistakes.

(37:51):
But what I gotta do is just anything I gotta
do to help the team. So I'm gonna I'm gonna
make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. But um, as long as
you don't, you know, worry about not make mistakes. You
just go out there and play aggressive, play to win.
Mistakes will happen. But if you're playing hard and really
not really worried about the mistakes, just worried about the outcome.
You you'll cover yourself. I want to ask you about
the three. First of all, we gotta get all the

(38:12):
serious basketball questions out of the way first so then
we can jerk around. But at the at the three,
that's about the only position on this team that's not
etgton Stone. As far as the starters go, the other
starters are pretty much set. Not knowing you're gonna start
from one night to the next. Does that mess you up?
Or or how does how does that? How does do

(38:34):
you handle it? How does Lamar handle out as Carris
handle it? Where you don't really know? Uh? You know,
I think for me um personally, even if I don't start,
I know I'm gonna play. UM, so I approach it
the same way as if I'm a starter or not.
Just gonna go out there and play the same way.
You know you're gonna get a lot of minutes. Uh.
You know what your job is out there to do

(38:54):
space the floor guard, play hard, UM, do all the
small detail things, box out stuff like that. UM. I
know that's my role and UM, but you know, starting
it is what it is. You know, sometimes different lineups,
you know, kind of meshed together better. So um, and
I completely understand that. So um. But now starting and
not starting, it doesn't really matter as long as you know,

(39:15):
you know you're gonna get minutes to go out there
in battle. Is that okay? Is that just the NBA
line that it doesn't matter if you start or not? No? No,
Like I really don't okay. Alright, So enough of the
of the serious question. This is that we already got
the the wolf how started right now? The next one
is to get the wolf pack in the stands. But
I wanted to ask you about the joint yard dog chain.

(39:38):
I wanted to do you like the easiest one that
we want to put a breed on that dog every
time somebody wins it. But I guess we'll give you
the husky because you know, the wolf husky, like like
Gardland for example, d G, what what what breed would
that be? Well? If there any player, any team that
you want to pick, like, what breed would you give him? Oh?
That's that's a good one. Careful yeah, uh man, d G.

(40:04):
I don't know. I think you know he's smaller guy,
super fast, super aggressive, super quick. I'm not sure what
dog breathed that would be. Um, you know what about Lamar?
Would he be the like the pit bull? Yeah, he's
probably a pibbole strong aggressive, you know, just battle hard

(40:26):
and kind of guy. He just you know, you know,
you can go out there and just I mean fight
every possession. So, um, I'd say that was probably a pibbule.
But then I think about my other teammates. I'm like, man,
they're kind of all so I don't know, maybe we're
just all different kind of pitbull Alright, that like that
That is a good one. That's that's that's a very
safe answer. That's a good answer. Do you have a

(40:48):
dog at home? I do? Okay, Okay, uh, just a
kind of a mixed rescue dog. Oh nice, that's a
good good that's what I got. Yeah, So we talk
about Manhattan. You said about Manhattan, how you got married
this past summer. Correct? And your wife was a great
basketball player at k State, Right, so obviously she can't

(41:09):
beat your ass, but she could probably win both of us. Correct.
I don't know about that first part. She might be
you know, she's she was unbelievable player kse State. Okay,
And how has it has life changed for you married,
being on the road now and stuff like that, is
any change? Not really? She lived with me the past
year and a half, becur, so, um, not much has changed.

(41:31):
Just to ring on the finger, I've been. I have
not been on the road this year the last year
as well. Rafa tells me when you guys around the
road now you carry councils. Yeah, is that right? What
is that all about? Man? You know there's a lot
of guys on the team that, um, you know, to
pass the free time play video games and stuff. So um,

(41:51):
and we spend a lot of time on the road,
so you know, there's a couple of guys. I've bring mine. Um,
I'm a little PlayStation with me and it's just nice.
You know, when you get to the hotel room, there's
nothing going on. You can just kind of set up
and just play against other other calves. Now, I haven't
this year, have it this year? Donovan won't play with me.
I don't there. What what game do you play? Call

(42:13):
of Duty? God? Everybody plays that? Yeah, that's like way
up all my head. Yeah, I'm still from the generation
that you pook quarters in the machine you get, don't
Junior pac Man yeah, but I mean like it's for
as generational things. I mean, the guys. Do you guys
play cards on the play anymore? Yeah? On the plane,

(42:34):
some people play cards. Um, but a lot of people
just kind of sleep all right. You know you know
how old we are, Yeah, there do some of our
some of our cabs players still like Pokemon. Oh my god,
Like I used to buy Pokemon for my nicknames and
the nephews. Okay, are you a Pokemon guy? No? Right
that that seems to me like wait, like yeah, I

(42:56):
mean I know some people that are, Um, but I
just I wasn't when I was younger. Um, what were
your power rain? Your guy Meaningja turtles? Uh? More of
a Ninja turtle kind of person. I think that's still wait,
like almost the train and who's your road dog on
the road? Who do you who do you hang with?

(43:16):
Who do you sit with on the plane? I sit
next to j Um on the plane. Okay, that's that's
gotta be fun and we're gonna conversations going. That's gonna
be a good conversation talk about anything under the sun. Anything. Um.
You know, he's super funny guys, So I mean it's
always just jokes. Like that. We have a campaign here
trying to make him the first NBA player to go

(43:37):
to Space. Hey, if he wants to do it, he said,
he'll do it, even if he has to miss a
couple of games. I got right, he'll drop the whole
season and go out there. So, UM, we wanted to
like obviously, we're now into the holidays after after weekend?
What do you ever looking forward to the holidays? Uh?

(43:58):
This year, you have a family coming in town? Do
they come I hang out with you guys? Yeah? I
had some family in um right before Thanksgiving, a couple
of friends. Um, you know, it's nice to see him. Yeah,
I'm looking forward to Christmas. I think my mom's coming
to town for a few days. Um, somewhere in the
Christmas areas. So I'm not sure when. Um, but you know,
I'm excited to see him. How is coach Way doing.

(44:20):
She's good, she's good, she's Uh, they're still battling, battling.
I think, Um, volleyball is over, basketball starting, so she's
kind of getting ramped up for that, and UM, she's excited.
So your mom was a coach. I didn't know that. Yeah,
how is you tough on? You only in track only yea,

(44:42):
and I heard your mom and if I'm right, your
mom rang the mill correct, So that's that's awesome. That
doesn't like too good credit. But he's also beating it,
so you know relations thank you so well. I'm not
I'm not beating it yet. I have the bell here,
you're beating I'm here. I'm here, so that's pretty good.
But die, I rung the bell yet. Regulations to your mom.

(45:02):
That's that's like the best gift. That's the best Christmas
Holiday present you could ever get. Right there, man, that's fantastic.
When are you gonna get on the six three man?
We need to get the how going hopefully soon, hopefully soon. Yeah, yeah,
we just we needed to hit some shots for our South.
Really it's for our own our own publicity. We want
credit for uh. Dean way Man, thank you so much

(45:26):
for joining us on Wine and Gold Radio. This is
kind of like our first first episode of the new season.
This is your second appearance. We should get in like
a sport code like if you if you're on twice,
you should get like something right. Yeah, I don't think
we have budget for not Okay, well, Dan, thanks for
joining us and uh We'll be right back. Uh. Which
segment three on Gold Radio Radio A lot. This is

(45:56):
Donovan Mitchell and you're listening to Wine and Gold Radio
and inspecting that were you all right? Should I say
what I do? Or good? All right? This is Maddack

(46:22):
from the Cleveland Cavaliers, and I just want to say
happy holidays to everybody, and whatever holidays celebrate, make it
a good one. Hello, this is a c I want
to wish everybody out there merry Christmas and a happy
New Year. But the most important thing that's all stay safe. Hi,
am Georgia. Should I well, it means merry Christmas and French?
Hey everyone. Casey Cool is here from Cavalier's engineering team.

(46:45):
Just wanted to wish everyone out there listening a merry
Christmas and a happy holiday. This is Zach Yelman from
the Calves Communications team. Everyone have a merry Christmas and
a happy holiday. Hi. This is Jordan Vandding with the
Calves Communications teams, and I hope everybody has happy holidays
except for Zachieman. Everyone. Brandon Jerosic with the Cavaliers Computer team,
wishing everyone happy festivals. For the rest of us, bring

(47:07):
out those polls and I know you've got a lot
of problems with everybody. Hello. I'm Campy Russell and I
would like to wish all of you I'm merried Christmas
and a happy New Year, but more importantly, stay safe
and healthy and consider a humanity. Hi. This is bethany Um.
I messed up. Wait it's still recording, so just my

(47:31):
name all right. Hi, I'm bethany Um. I work in
community relations for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Happy holidays and have
a great day. This is d Mac from the Creative team,
and I want to wish everybody except for Rafa, happy
holidays and to you Rafa Police. Navid. This is Leo
and this is Zembo. We just wanted to wish everybody

(47:51):
out there happy holidays, Happy holiday. Okay, I'm nervous, nervous. Hey,
this is man. Hey, this is Madison from the Calves.
Happy holidays and go caps. Hey. This is Madison from
the Calves. Happy Holidays, Go caps. It's the exact same way.

(48:24):
Now back to wine and go radio. Let me get
that taste, O, let me get that taste. Dean Wolf,
don't you love that? One of my favorite guys, and
even from the beginning, it's just such a cool he's
a cool dude. He's like a normal guy. I have
to go, oh, you know what cool hair. Now that

(48:44):
we're going to New York, I gotta get him that
T shirt that made me famous in the last cruise
I took. I haven't even do I know this story.
I had a T shirt with a revolver and he says,
New York, it ain't Kansas. I've seen that both Manhattan
and I was. I wasn't a cruise. It was a

(49:04):
bare feet cruise from UM and it's a sailboat. And
this lady was wearing a shirt that said be aware
of the fog the arena were Kansas played? So we
trade his shirts. And and as great as everything is
going for Dean Wade in the starting lineup, hitting some

(49:25):
big shots at night's game the other night, the really
the best news we got we heard from Dean Wade
as his mom rang the bell. Yeah, which coach way,
the coach Wade rang the bell, which is really the
greatest thing. Uh, it's really the greatest thing going right there.
I think it's great news. And then and she still
obviously when you always when you're in remission, you always

(49:46):
got away for the for the for the exams and everything.
But he was so happy when he told me that
when we talked about it, because it wasn't really public
at the beginning, but when somebody could put coach way
hit didn't the thing? So well, happy for him and
happy people heard, of course. And I can tell you
that when you hear that word, that c word, the

(50:06):
cancer that changes your life, it turns everything. It's like scary,
laugh you know, it's well. And now I said, in
the first second I'd explained our absence. And the reason
is because I I never know how to say this
if I have or had prostate cancer. Either way, I

(50:28):
have prostate cancer and I had surgery to remove it.
And that's where I've been on the men. What did
the doctors say when you went to get the results?
You went to get the test and the most part
of your lost, part of your of your insanity, you know,
when you get the exam and oh, well, when the
doctor first says the surgeon, you mean, well, the funny

(50:51):
thing is like I kind of laugh about it, and
that the surgeon the surgeon, Toby said, well, you know
I have a surgeon. So they lay out you want
to do chemo you want to these radiation seeds or
do you want to do the surgery? And like, wow,
I don't know, you know, and he said, well surgery.
You know you're in and you're out one day. And
I thought, well, I remember you telling him like yeah,
I'll be back next week. And well shooe man, I'm like,

(51:14):
you know, I'm going there and be like the daist.
I'll go in and I have this thing removed and
and as much of as much as an and as
I am. I didn't want to break it to you,
right right. So we both have a friend in common
that has also survived prostate cancer. One of the deep
best engineer in the business, head engineer, Joe Richard. No,

(51:37):
actually he has. I always have to do like a
judgment on his um, on his title, because he always
he's not just engine you know. Jeff, Jeff Fritchen is
the senior director of Video and Broadcasting and at the
CAP Steve, he's the guy he had he was diagnosed

(51:58):
right with us. The reason you went and he's the
reason I went, and we kind of you and I
talked about whether I should discuss this on the air,
and I and you said you should because if you
can prevent someone the way Joe prevented me exactly. Joe Fritchen,
who you hear us mentioned and think at the end
of every at the end of every show, he told
me that he had rustate cancer and it scared me.

(52:22):
So I went and got checked. And I was one
of those jerks who, oh, I don't want to doctor's
thumb up my butt, you know, the whole, all the
macho stuff. I'm feeling good, so I don't have to go.
Right as long as I'm feeling good, I don't have
to go. And it's really a stupid thing because you're
just ignoring what could be. Anyway, I went in and
the doctor told me, well, you know, it's one day thing,

(52:42):
and I thought, well, well, so back to that story.
You told me, you know, that you were back knows
and that you were choosing the option of surgery, which
I was happy about, and and then you said, you know, well,
you know I'm gonna have surgery. I'm thinking that maybe
a stul have it, you know, before the season starts
so I can't get back on the road. And I
was like, you know, talk to your doctor, because I

(53:05):
had to say because I had spoken with Joe throughout
his process, okay, and I knew it was and a
day in and day out. So you keep saying, you know, well,
you know, I might just missed a couple of road
trips and then get back and like, doctor, you doctor,
find out first if you need to have it now
or if you if you think you can wait for

(53:26):
the end of the season. So when you have obviously
the doctor said, the doctor said waiting, right, He said,
if you wait to the end of the season, we're
gonna have a different conversation. So we were recording Wine
and Gold radio at Rocket Mortgage field House one day
and I went to talk to Joe Fritchen and I said,
he you do me a favor, you know he I
don't know if he told you yet. I know he

(53:46):
wants to make it public. But you know, Joe g
get diagnosed with prost the cancer, and Joe was really
concerned right away. He goes, what is he hold on?
I said, go talk to him because he's talking about
having the third Judy on Friday. You think he's gonna
be back at work, right Like the surgery was schusuling

(54:07):
for October seven, and I thought, well, we would think
it opening night. All right, well, I miss a couple
of preseason games and then I'll be back and it'll
be cool. So anyway, so it was better it's somebody
that would experience. Yes, and you are correct. The only
thing is, as far as that story goes, the last
episode of Wine and Gold Radio that we did, we

(54:28):
had Nick Barlage and Lucy and anyway, So to fill
that story out again, I was I thought it was
gonna be quick in and out. This is gonna be
a walk in the park. So we're just about to
start that broadcast. Nick the President is now is sitting
at one mike, You're sitting at the other. And I
said to you, guys, hey, I'm going to run into

(54:49):
the bathroom real quick. I'll be right back. So I
go out. There in the hallway is Joe Fritch and
waiting for me, and he's he's like, oh, you're all
set for surgery. And of course I'm like, oh yeah, man,
I'll be in. I go ahead and come out and
cut it out and I'll be back in a couple
of days. And he says, oh no, dude, oh no.
She says this is gonna be months. Months. He said,

(55:11):
I mean and he explained all this stuff, and I mean,
we're laughing about it, but it didn't. No joke man
in that, Hey you're getting plumbing cut out. Be you're
getting plumbing rerouted. And then see I used the letter
see very uh specifically because you lied to me. I
did not. I'm not a whim. I'm not a whim

(55:34):
in that. Let me just tell the audience that said
I was. You know, so anyway to quick close that
story out real quick, I go out in the hallway
and Joe Fritchend starts telling me all this stuff that
I'm going to go through, which I had no clue
about any of it. Shooting yourself in the stomach once
a day for thirty days, all that stuff. I walked
into the bathroom and I had to go sit on

(55:55):
a toilet because I was going to pass out, because
going to pass out because it shocked me so much
and and just scared me. And I'm not joking that
I was. I had Joe Fritchard came back in the
bathroom with me and stood outside the stall because he
wanted to make sure fall way. I wanted Joe to
be the one to talk to you about it, because

(56:17):
I could tell you don't worry about it. Joe is
gonna be okay day by day, you know, whenever you
want you grit. I love you, and you told me
all that stuff, and I appreciate somebody that had gone
through it. Could I tell you, because there's nothing better.
I think. The first thing it is here if you
can get tested, if you're a male and get tested
fifty years old, you should get test. Get tested that

(56:38):
you have you prostect tested, right, absolutely, get that. That
is the first one. And second of all is when
you are dumped all of that together, it sounds like
an avalanche. Oh my god, it's overwhelmed. It's literally overwhelmed.
So my point, my my role was to get you
to take it day by day. I tell I might

(56:59):
have I to you was be like like like like
a castaway. That's the way and every way every day
you wake up, you're winning. Put a line on the wall,
and then you know, keep coming to day's right, because
if you think of of of of thirty days doing
this and thirty days doing that, and it's like it's
horrible and again a long time. Anybody who thinks it's
seven weeks now so and again up until last week

(57:22):
I was in some pain. Uh so come back to
the sea word and that I'm nervous about this whole process,
really nervous. And the one thing I'm most nervous about
is and if somebody out here is a week's stomach
a catheter that Catherine has to go and I think
you make it sound like it's a lot more than No,
it's not. It's horrible. So before I go in for surgery, Raphagos,

(57:47):
I said that, I said, of all the things, I'm
most afraid of, the cathe is the worst thing. Is
just like and I don't know if you're trying to
make me feel good of your being and you're like,
oh no, dude, that's like that, that's nothing. That's what
they put it on when you are sleep. So and
then you wake up and then you realize you have
to be like if they if they if they branded
you while you were asleep, it still hurt when you

(58:10):
woke up. I know. But I find it amazing that
you think that is why, which is good for you?
If you part, that is good for you. And so
I was the surgery in four days. I was off
pain pills. So how many times do you see the
clip from from Oh My God when they go up

(58:36):
to the violator he pulls the caather that just watching
that could make me fall out, I'm telling you. And
I was like, again, a dude, I love you so much.
You're you're like you're more of a brother than any
of my friends. I gotta say. But I was m
f and you when I had that hose in me,

(58:58):
I was thinking that I was like wanting to call
you would say this is this is the hardest part. Dude,
you lied to me. I don't think you like I gets.
I don't know if because I have experience, well, I
don't know what kind of experienced you. You must had
the greatest must have had the greatest catheter of my
first experience. I was having toured you, you know, because

(59:21):
my family has Colin answer said that, so I always
have to check. And I had issues with my collinses.
That was like one. So I had a surgery when
I was I don't know, like forty, And remember I
didn't have a like right now, I'm leaving like better
than Jack la Laine compared to what I used to
live with my experimenting, they're very very very healthy. Right

(59:42):
But back in the day, I was like the totals
in the pound, drinking and whatever. So I had surgery,
my first surgery, and I remember the guy with the
anesthetic and anesthetic guy came in and like, you know,
told me, you know how they do to play by
play and everything we are, we're gonna put Yeah, So

(01:00:03):
he put the shot me and that's the last thing
I remember. The next thing I remember. The next thing
I remember is waking up with an urge to go
to the bathroom right, and I'm thinking, so I look
at my right and there's a woman nurse sitting on
the table in a chair next to my bed, reading
a book. I guess, just waiting for me to come

(01:00:24):
back from But in my mind I tell the latter, say, listen,
can you do me a favorite? Can I can I
still go to the bathroom before you start dying. I'm
dying to take to go to the bathroom. And she
goes to the other side of the bed and lift
the bag. She goes, go ahead, honey, you already went.
I'm like, oh my god, oh my god. It took

(01:00:45):
it took me a day too. That was my only
problem I have with the with the Catherine that I
had an urge like I wanted to go to the bathroom,
but she's like, keep going go. I'm like, oh, this
is great, and it didn't hurt you, it didn't have
you know, my god. And then when he wanted to
take out, You're like that you leave it, know, but
taking it out with another experience. But oh my god,

(01:01:07):
hed em bothered me to the point that he bought you.
And then I'm saying, I hate to like to tell
me what the Catherine was kind of funny and that
my nurse was great. You know, you go in and
she kind of snips the catherine just like the end
tube hanging out. Keep it? Do you keep it? I
would have kept mind, Like I don't even like hearing
that word anymore. But so she lays you on the

(01:01:31):
table and and she's talking sports. We're talking calves. We're
talking about how can you believe the Browns lost yesterday?
They blew that big lead and stuff like that's what
it was. They don't tell you get ready three to one.
She's just talking about sports and I'm laying on the
table and I have this thing, and she's like, can
you believe the Browns lost yesterday? They had they had

(01:01:51):
a couple of touchdown leading what do you think? And
then next thing, you know what, Man, she just yanked
it right in the middle of a sentence and I
probably cursed you again right there. Either way, I'm on
the road to recovery. And which is the best part.

(01:02:14):
And I feel great, I really do. Man. Thanksgiving never
tasted so good. Everything's great right now. Man. So the
point of all this, I think, and I'm gonna thank
uh some people that really helped me out in our
thank you today. But the point is, and the reason
I guess I'm telling you this is because if you're
a dude out there, then you're to fifty A man.

(01:02:35):
Be a man. Don't be a jerk like me. Man,
don't be I I talked to a friend who said
his buddy's sixty and he's never had a colonoscy or
or or a prostate check or anything. And I'm like, that, dude,
is he's gambling? Right? At least cousin died because he
didn't want to have the surgery. He was prostate and
again it's the second leading. He didn't want to have

(01:02:58):
the surgery because of the it's a week we just
talked about it because you've made it through. So it's
funny now I'm telling you if you would tell anyone
out there, man, get that that's you tested. But then decided,
Like if I had a buddy who was going to
go through it, I would tell him do this like
Joe fritchand told me do the surgery. It's going to

(01:03:21):
be the worst month, month and a half of your
life because with the surgery you have a chance, and
with the with the key on the other thing, you
have like fifty or so. Just think of you going
to to a blackjack table and which one would you
sit on exactly exactly and and I will tell you.
And I'm not out of the woods yet. Month and

(01:03:43):
a half. Man, I'm starting to feel like myself again.
You missed the Capeter viol call you that back in
a COMPLI. It was so nice. I didn't have to
worry about going to the bathroom. Now your question, were
you have right? Let me tell you of doing he's
the worst thing you're gonna experience. You know what now

(01:04:04):
that you say that, I don't know. I know, I
know you're right. You know what. You're right? You were
because if you had told me that, at least they
would have prepared me. But it wouldn't. It would have
scared me. I was already scared to death. But I
just laughed at that because I thought, I wonder if
that was Rapha a messing with me like he always do.

(01:04:26):
I wonder if Rob was playing with me about this
catheter as like every I know, and you were great
and and and you know what, we're gonna preview next
week's games. Let's just get on with thank you, and
you know, I hope it was a good show, but
I have to thank some people and the people I'm
thinking today, man, are they helped me out huge and

(01:04:49):
you were a huge helping I thank you, and I
think everybody friends and family who who helped out. Man,
it's apported me and I'll support anybody who needs help
moving forward. Man, I'll tell you, I'll be honest with you,
just like Joe is honest with me, and I won't
lie to you like you lied to me. We gotta

(01:05:10):
say thank you to the PR Department, starting with b
J Evans, who runs the department. They help us today,
to the iron fist. B J got us the nice
uh Dean Wade, So the PR Department starting with b J.
But then you talk about Schrome, who's the straw, the stres,
the drink, Sammy slinging Sammy and Newcastle's owned Devin Booker,
who's not the son, not the phoenix, not the phoenix

(01:05:33):
getting book Booker. But she is, Uh, she's our Devin Booker.
She's the Kevaliers. Devin Booker has to say thanks to U.
Joe Fritchend Man, Joe, I love you, man, I love
you and were we're connected now we're Yeah, we have
a bond. Yeah. So the best engineer in the business,
one of the best dudes in the business. We have

(01:05:54):
to thank Lucy Varius, who's the best human director of Engineering,
Joe Fritchend Lucy, I think director of community, the boss.
I mean, she's in the best person in Cleveland. I
love Lucy. We all she hads Calves Care, which is
the side of the community relations that gets everybody involved.
Which my next my next volunteering comes up soon. Uh

(01:06:17):
in the month of December. I didn't get the email.
So can I go with you? Yeah, I'll put you
on and remember that all home games for the Calves
Monsters and charged during the month of December, we have
the toy drive by ups where we're asking our fans
to come in and bring on draps toys and we
then we will just redistribute to the children on notice Ohio.

(01:06:38):
So that Lucy that's part of the things that Lucy does.
We will will we wrap them? Well, We've given to
organizations that have like Santa's Day or Three Kings Night,
and I'm asking involves like the churches that we do
sometimes we like do little things. I wonder if we
wrap the toys because I'd love to be I love
rapid stuff. I don't know because I think we collect them.
And then with this, with this, we really this review

(01:07:00):
to organization. With that, Okay, hey, I want to help
you go to kids that don't have And also you
can also do if you're more incline to do it
online and you don't want to you want you won't
be at the game, but you want to help. In Amazon,
we have a wish list or caps so you can
go in and buy. Uh, what's that? What's that? What's
the name of the game that you put the mat

(01:07:21):
on the floor and it's like Red and Orange and Twister, Twister.
They have a ton of game that kids have made
the list. Oh nice, like right into Santa. And then
we have a whole list drop down on the list
of toys that you can buy, the ten box, fifteen bucks, whatever,
but just whatever you can give to all jokes aside.
I'm really proud to work for this organization. We help,

(01:07:41):
we can do. Man, we care. We HiT's not lip service,
it's not we care. This organization cares. You gotta thank
Rob Hageman, who hands uh, he handles all the I
T stuff that none of us know anything about. We
gotta thank boo uh Ryan Ryan. Somebody called it Ryan
Hagan the other day. Anyways, like who the hell's that?
You know? I gotta thank, gotta thank the guy that

(01:08:03):
makes all this go, the most important person, the really
the driving force, d Mac, the guy who puts all
this together. Now he goes into a different stage now
because he took care of Rosida while you were. You
were he took That's right, he did. He did. He
took care of my fat. I was so Mac. You know,

(01:08:26):
he get picked up on every other show. He gets
like a little match up. It's good. So d Mac,
thank you for watching Rosida. And then finally we have
to thank, of course the Dynamic Duo of Dirty Care
and Marty Allen send him the best, will right, Marty,
big Daddy. Also he's on the men himself so and
we love Big Daddy, love him. I wonder if the league,

(01:08:48):
the Pickle Bull League, is going to keep his streak
alive while missing game because he was only he was
also like the the A. C. Green of the pickle
League because he labor pickup. Yeah. I don't know, man,
but he was so happy when he heard Lebron and
Kevin had a pickup ball league. He should they should

(01:09:09):
draft it. They had it on TV finals that tournament's final.
Fifteen year old girl playing with like another dude. All right, well,
let's uh good luck to Marto and hey man, get
better soon and we'll see you back here, big Daddy.
We love you, and uh, I guess we'll just see
