You think we could get you to dress up as

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Didn't know about that. You ever seen.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
I've never dressed up his missal.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
I thought you did that.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
You didn't know they asked me to.

Speaker 9 (02:26):
Oh I thought that was almost No, No, there was
gonna be a bet payoff.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
I would show you a picture if I did that.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
I'm sitting here like, No, I was gonna.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
That was a bet payoff.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
That would have been a hell of a bet paid.
I lost.

Speaker 9 (02:38):
I lost in the round of the Survivor pool. And
one of the bet payoffs was me dressing up like
misst out fire.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
That's when I had like.

Speaker 7 (02:46):
The long yeah, yeah, yeah, got the same height.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Oh yeah, miss the same high. But ye, I don't
want to Franklin.

Speaker 9 (02:55):
It was one of the better that actually was pretty good.
YEAHO did the show has Ben Franklin?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Did you do the voice and everything?

Speaker 3 (03:02):
No?

Speaker 2 (03:03):
No, I don't even know what he sounds like. I
don't know he sounds but.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yeah, I didn't know.

Speaker 9 (03:07):
But it was funny because I had on the the
frills and all the vast and then like the pants
and it was pretty good.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Good with wing tip shoes, we were good.

Speaker 5 (03:18):
That's crazy, all right, Mean this time y Chance come
here throwing the show off and ain't me this time?

Speaker 3 (03:25):
This is there?

Speaker 2 (03:25):
He just rolling rolling damn shoes.

Speaker 9 (03:28):
But if we had, if we had to dress me
up for Santa to do Christmas stuff, I think we
can do that.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Okay, let's think about that. Maybe that's how we get
to Let's go to TV for gotta get the TV.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
So we're giving him the fans.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, that's what I'm trying to work out, is get
some fans.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Now.

Speaker 7 (03:40):
Every time Amber mentions it, it throws it back a
few weeks. But hey, you know, we'll keep working on
it too.

Speaker 8 (03:45):
Blame me, Blame the voice of the fans trying to
speak for them and as the TVs.

Speaker 7 (03:51):
All right, here's what I had a question for you
guys on before and and a lot is transpired, obviously
a lot of very serious things have transpired. But after
the Arizona game, we heard Shaddy say, you know, they're
gonna be some big changes coming after the bye. And
my question for you guys is do you think that

(04:12):
with the things that this team has had to experience
in that in that in those two weeks, because it
wasn't a typical buye you you literally went through a
tragedy in the middle of that. Do you think that
maybe fans should not expect as much from the standpoint
of big changes. There are obviously going to be some
players that are coming back. We've talked about overshown and

(04:33):
revel But do you think that that fans should kind
of scale back a little bit on their expectations for change,
for big changes in things because of the fact that
the team was going through some other things that were
much bigger than making changes on the football field.

Speaker 5 (04:47):
I don't think that fans shouldn't expect it. Tragedies did happen.
They still have a job to do, and they still
have a goal that they're trying to get to at
the end of the season. And I think some of
those weaknesses on defense are so glaring that even if
they had two by weeks to sit down and think
about it and reflect, some of those changes are still

(05:08):
going to happen because they're like those are top tier,
danger level you know, changes that need to be made.
So like if it was a here or there thing,
you know, maybe so And I think I think you know,
they all got to sit and have tough, you know,
conversations about it, like hey man, I know we going
through this da da da. We still have to move forward,
as Shahi say, but you know, moving forward, I think

(05:30):
this is the best course of action moving forward. So
I think that's how it'll kind of be. So, yeah,
changes chang is definitely coming.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
For sure.

Speaker 8 (05:37):
I think it'll It all depends on your interpretation of
what changes mean, because you know, technically they did make
changes because that comment was made prior to the Cowboys
making those traits. So now you do have some outside
health that comes into the So it's all up for interpretation.

(05:59):
And you see it.

Speaker 7 (06:01):
I'm impressing you today, got about.

Speaker 8 (06:07):
Because set An m I stand there and be like, well,
those are the changes with that?

Speaker 5 (06:12):
So now I'm thinking how much do those trades impact
the change that were gonna happen any way?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Rights had? What were those of change?

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Like?

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Literally was that it?

Speaker 5 (06:20):
For example, not to be so like cryptic about it, right,
let's say that they were gonna play a linebacker less
to play a young linebacker more, do you think go
to that young linebacker? Like, hey man, Logan Wilson is here.
Now this is probably where we still love you. But
I still love you, brother, Uh. I think this is
a perfect example. Perry On Winfrey right activated twenty one.
This is probably the time that he was gonna come back.

(06:41):
Now you got a bona fide dude in that room.
Now we're back to the conversation, well, is it five
defensive tackles that we're gonna be carrying? Are we gonna
sit Perry on again?

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Like?

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Is it gonna be one of those situes like.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Corea end up being the guy a man out?

Speaker 5 (06:55):
There's a lot of things, how often like we've ramped
you all the way up to go like do we
just say no?

Speaker 3 (06:59):
No?

Speaker 5 (07:00):
So that's a fantastic thank.

Speaker 8 (07:03):
You appreciate it. That's great.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
I think let's just get along the whole rest of episode.
See we can do it.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Go ahead, there's no chance of that.

Speaker 9 (07:11):
The I'll say this though, I think a lot of
it depends on how these players and so I'll focus
on the other side of things.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
I'll focus on the injured guys.

Speaker 9 (07:21):
You know, how's the I think that there's gonna be
naturally some guys that are going to get the opportunities
with how do you not play Quentnin Williams? How do
you not play Logan Wilson? You know, but let's think,
you know, expectations are for these these injured players are
to be hey, let's immediately throw them out there.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
We don't know how that's going to play out. We
really don't. I mean we we hear that they're going
to practice.

Speaker 9 (07:46):
You know, they've got several practices that they've got to
get through, so you know, as they as they work
through that. That's that's any player coming off injury. So
I think fan expectation is Revel is going to be
out there, He's going to be out there playing, you know,
the overshown going to be out there playing. I think
we need to kind of see how practice goes, and

(08:07):
I think we need to see how these you know,
how they get through this.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
And then where the game leads.

Speaker 9 (08:13):
And I could say, I think expectations are that that, hey,
these guys.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Are probably going to start. We'll see, we'll see how
all this plays. It's just like anything else.

Speaker 9 (08:22):
It's you know, it's you know, we saw with Carson
how they ramped him up, digs, how they ramped them up.
They have a little bit of a history of these
players coming off injuries how they're going to play them.
So I could say I think there's some obvious ones
and then there's some I think you have to kind
of wait and see.

Speaker 7 (08:40):
So if you had to, like if you had to
put yourself in that position and say, okay, yeah, there
are personnel changes that are obvious. There are guys they
brought in, they're guys that are coming back from injury.
We know there's going to be some difference there. We'll
see how much they're used. That being said, what other
things would you look at and say, here's some changes
I think would be specifically if you're talking about the

(09:02):
defensive side of the ball, but if you have some
on the offensive side of the ball, great, what are
some of the changes that you would say, Hey, this
is something they had two weeks, this is something I
would expect to see a little different in this next game.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
I think at the end of the day, we have
to look at these athletes as pros. They're you know,
they've been doing this their whole entire life, you know,
and I'm sure they've been a part of a situation
where they showed up and they were better than somebody
and somebody had to sit down. It just is what
it is. That's part of it. That's just part of
the game. I would love for this coaching staff, organization,

(09:35):
whoever in charge. I don't know. I'm just on the
camera to mic I would love for everybody to just
kind of have this. It ain't personal attitude, but this
this player playing better than you, that just is what
it is. Some defensive ends, you know what I'm saying.
You know what I mean, Donvinezeraku, it's time for him
to kind of take this thing over. For the most part,
Devian Clowney came in, took over even as old man

(09:59):
fresh off the count. He showed you a little more
than what we've seen from some players that have been here.
Now that he's knocked the rust off a little bit,
got a couple more games under his belt, he's still
climbing and getting better. At some point, you got to understand, hey,
even if you played forty reps in week one, if
your snaps are thirteen this week, you can't be mad
because you are a professional and you've done this to
somebody else. That man came in, If he's playing better

(10:20):
than you, it is what it is. Another example, Kayln Carson, Right,
Kayln Carson puts some fantastic film on tape. Sure, fantastic
film on tape. Some of y'all done got picked on.
Guys that have been here since week one. However, you
got here. You got here, and you know you may
be here because you know some coach favors you wanted,
the new coaches favor you. But we can't deny what
we saw from Carson on film last week. So you'll

(10:41):
have your opportunity to take your job back. But just
as of now, this new cat that just came in,
he just took it from you. So what I would
love for them to do is to just have grown
conversations about this and like, look, it ain't personal, but
we just want to tighten up the rotation a little bit.
I know that the idea was keep everybody fresh, rotting mouse,
and everybody's going on. This may sound a certain kind

(11:02):
of way, but somebody seventy five percent is better than
another players one hundred percent. So I'm I'm I'm going
away from all their road taser right now.

Speaker 9 (11:10):
Yeah, the thing to me would be maybe at right tackle,
but I mean that could be a fifty to fifty
right there with you know, a veteran guy and a
younger guy, and you know, I mean, I wanted to
believe Nate Thomas. And I still think that Nate Thomas
has got a future. There's no question about that. But
you know, now there's a little bit of like, Okay, well,
if he played fifty plays, would he be better or

(11:31):
would you know, he played nine eighteen nineteen plays, gave
up a bunch of pressures to a team that doesn't
pressure the quarterback all that much with the Arizona Cardinals,
So you worry about that. That's a switch you could say, okay,
immediately placed the right tackle. You know, I would like
to see We've talked about this a little bit. I'd
like to see more span Ford playing tight end. You know,
if they're going to get into some twelve personnel stuff.

(11:53):
You know Luke Schoonmaker, and you know it's not anything
that Luke Schoomaker's done wrong. I just don't think Luke
Schoomaker's done enough to keep Span four or watch laid
it out for you perfectly. There are guys that, like
the eye test tells you he's a little bit better
than this guy, and so let's see those changes. I
think the thing with this whole thing with Blue at

(12:13):
running back, you know, you need to figure this thing out,
you know, is it now if it's a situation where
the coaches come out or we're starting to hear where
it's not translating from the classroom to the field to
the game field. If that's the case, and I understand
what the coaches are doing, but man, that kid is
too talented not to try something with him and try

(12:34):
But if it if he's his I's he's his own
worst enemy. Then I can completely understand where the coaches
are coming from. And I'm not interested in making that change,
but something I would like to see.

Speaker 8 (12:47):
Well, going back to your initial comment, uh, Derek, prior
to you posing the question specifically speaking about the defense,
I don't personally expect a whole lot of changes when
you talk about scheme or things like that. I will
lean more towards what Boch was saying of like you
playing your best players out there, and that's what you're
leaning on, because going back to what Danny McCray was

(13:09):
saying during the podcast, Yeah, you're gonna expect these players
to I expect them to be on the field and
just go and like they're gonna play it. But it's
different when you're talking about being in a room where
someone's supposed to be sitting there and they're not, and
you're talking about scheme and changes, So it's hard to

(13:33):
absorb new information when you're in a certain state of mind.
You can say, yes, they're professionals and all this or that,
but the reality is you're still human and it's only natural,
and those are certain things. When you talk about mental
and focusing and absorbing, those are things that most of
the time is out of your control. Even if you're
trying to focus, you can't. So I do think you

(13:56):
will affect them in that sense to where we don't
see them implement a whole new thing or give a
whole new information. But I do believe in what Brian
Schottenheimer said yesterday. They're gonna go out there, They're gonna
be prepared, and they're gonna go and played. And he
said it yesterday in his press conference which was completely

(14:18):
dedicated to Marshall Meeling. He mentioned that they're gonna go
honor Marshaan and they're gonna honor him in this game
against the Raiders and all throughout the season. So I
do think that they're gonna bring their hearts and effort
in there. But as far as giving new information and
absorbing it, I personally don't believe that would be the case.

Speaker 9 (14:40):
Yeah, But what's sad right now is they've backed themselves
into a corner, you know, the way the season has
gone so far, and yeah, you know, and and they
and they really they have to There's no margin of
error now, there really isn't. You can't go out there
and mess around and play poorly and allow the Raiders
to stay in the game or even win this game.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
You know, if you really really.

Speaker 9 (15:02):
Want to honor Marshaw Neelan, you know, go out there
and if you have to play five man line, play
five man line. There's some things that they're going to
have to do differently, and they were going to have
to do it differently whether they had the tragedy or not.
You know that that was some of the stuff they've got.
The type of defensive lineman now that they if you're

(15:24):
really serious about putting your best guys on the field,
you will figure out a way to put the best
guys on the field, and you will fight your way
through any other adversities you have. But the margin of
error for this football team is really zero. And that's unfortunate.

Speaker 7 (15:38):
All right, we're going to take our first break. We'll
come back. We'll dive into Las Vegas defense versus the
Cowboys offense. Will be back Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio.

Yeah, I'm still working.

you don't see me doing that. So like when I
want to do block, shall go and I let people
know how important blockchain is.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Okay, Yeah, thank you Jerry.

Speaker 8 (20:14):
So we're gonna talk about the defense.

Speaker 7 (20:16):
Yeah, I'm talking about this about this Raiders defense because it's,
in my opinion, very similar to the conversation we had
yesterday about the Raiders offense. There's a guy as a
beast that you better be aware of because he can
change your day. It's worse, tell me about it.

Speaker 5 (20:33):
It's very true. The difference is Dallas Cowboys defense is
where dreams come true and anybody can show up and
be fantastic. I think the difference is the Cowboys offense.
You got dudes all over the place that are ready
to take advantage of those guys, you know what I mean.
So just looking at the Raiders in their defense. You know,
yesterday I was like, Hey, if the Raiders offense are
going to beat you, it'll be this way. It's not

(20:55):
a whole bunch of ways that the Raiders defense can
beat you. Max christ will have to have phenomenal day
versual right tackle there.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
But that's not that's not possible.

Speaker 5 (21:05):
It's very much so it happen. I've seen least I've
seen lesser edges have have days like that versus right tackle.
You know, it'll kind of mess up what you're doing there,
but the edge pressure is what that can really deal with.
And we mostly get whooped on the inside. Then it
gets real bad.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (21:21):
It surprised me. They got a character that Lulu, the
Jonah Jonah. He's a little better than I thought. He's
a little better, And I thought, I'm not gonna sit
up here and you know, kick around the Raiders D
line like they're all terrible, but most of them are.
It's just that Max and Lulu are pretty decent. So
if you could deal with those guys.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
What is lineup he typically play? Who would he be
matched up with?

Speaker 9 (21:42):
Primary They're gonna, they're gonna, they're gonna play him like
each side.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
Both guards are gonna.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
Even though you have tools to beat him. But this
is where Lulu can kind of get you. He's he's
very active. He's very active, and he's very moving around
type guy and cowboys have issues kind of dealing with
gap exchanges and you know, slants and all. Let so
if this situation where Max and Luis lou are on
the same side, hey man, it could be one of
one of the ones for you. But in the event
that you block those guys up front, uh is gonna

(22:10):
be a party. It's gonna be a part of These
guys don't cover well. Some people seem to say that
the Raiders can't cover the seam all of well, I
don't think the Raiders can cover nothing all that well,
it just depends on can they get to you. And
they are a team that's gonna sack you a whole bunch.
They may get some prescious here there, and they're they're
kind of decent in the run game, more than you
would think. But you're good in the run game as well,

(22:31):
so you can push those guys around. I'm gonna leve
Brian talking. I'm gonna talk about Dv's a little bit later.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
Yeah, I think he's absolutely right.

Speaker 9 (22:36):
Then, you know, when you look at the Raiders with
the way they play up front, Yeah, it's all about
Max Crosby, and he will actually he'll he'll play over
your your right tackle, they'll move him over on your
left tackle. They'll they'll hunt some matchups every once in
a while. This is a team that plays a lot
of just base defense. They do not get into many
exotic looks or anythings like that. You know, we've seen

(22:58):
teams kind of come up with ideas putting two of
their best rushers on the same side and all that.
You kind of get what you get, you know, with
the with the Raiders as you watch them play, You're
absolutely right about Lulalu, the way that he plays a
defensive tackle. I mean, he's got a physical guy and
it's gonna you know, we've seen where the Cowboys will

(23:18):
always kind of say, well, the matchup inside for the
Cowboys should be pretty good, you know, and hopefully so
you've got powerful guys inside. So this is a team
that does not get a lot of pressures. Believe it
or not, that's our quick pressures. That was the thing
last week that Arizona, or a couple of weeks ago,
Arizona was able to take advantage of you because of
the quick pressures. Dak couldn't handle it and then all

(23:40):
of a sudden you had the problems, you know, moving
the football. But this is a group and they've got
veteran guys Devin.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
White att linebacker.

Speaker 9 (23:47):
This team gives up less than four yards of carry,
but teams from the ball twenty eight times.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
A game against these guys.

Speaker 9 (23:54):
It's not like you're taking advantage of one and neglecting
the other. I mean, teams honestly try and run the
ball against the Raiders, and they're able to play with
White in their front and make plays that way. So
you have to be ready for that. I think you're
going to have to be balanced in this game because
if it does turn into yes, you're gonna throw or

(24:16):
you're gonna have to throw the ball, then it turns
in down to having to deal with Crosby and then
Tyree Wilson. I know Tyree Wilson was a first round
pick for them from Texas Tech.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
I know on the draft show we all.

Speaker 9 (24:28):
Kind of talked about I know the Dallas Cowboys absolutely
love the player. That was talk about him like maybe
a potential draft pick or a trade candidate or something
like that came out of Texas Tech. They were worried
about his foot hit a little bit of a problem
with that, but you know, if they get him going
in this game, then that gives them the two rushers.
But overall though, they're going to play you pretty basic

(24:49):
with with their looks. They're not going to do anything
really exotic to you, and you just got to be
ready of how to handle him, but also have a
plan for how to run the ball, because these guys
will not allow They don't want you to run the ball.
They really really don't, and they do a good job
of it.

Speaker 5 (25:04):
Brian, the Cowboys normally leave their tackles on the island.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
Of the time.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
Most of the time. Yeah, I think this week is
a little different in a way that it's kind of
like Max and everybody else. Yeah, I mean, uh, let's say,
for example, like the Denver Broncos, right, well, they got
people all over the place that can rush you, so
you really can't give help to every single bay. It
might benefit you to get rid of the ball quicker
and keep those passing opchers right versus the the raiders

(25:33):
they got Max. I think everybody else would be finding
their one on ones. Do you think this would be
a game where we see a lot more chips in
tight end hill.

Speaker 9 (25:39):
Well, yeah, it's with the thing you know, if and
if I could say something about Max real quick, and
I'll get to your point because it's a good one.
The thing with Max is we all knew how Tank
Lawrence used to play, where Tank would sometimes gamble on
some stuff. You could watch this team play run defense
on third downs and you and you and you, and
you'll see Max Crosby all all sudden just take it

(26:01):
on his own, and I mean take it. He might
be playing at that left end spot and then he
just feels like he's going to jump that snap and
try and shoot a gap and then make a tackle
for a loss or get the pressure that he's so
you've got to be aware of him kind of getting
the gauge he's he's feeling the snap count.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
He's feeling the snap count. You know.

Speaker 9 (26:19):
This is one of those games too where if you
play against these guys and you want to run the ball,
I think the way to kind of do it is
go on early counts, go quick counts. These guys kind
of get it. Takes them a little bit of time
to kind of get organized. They're all kind of muddling
around and then that's the way the commanders. The Commanders
did that to him, Denver did that to him, Kansas

(26:40):
City did that to him. Is you watch the runs
and how if there were successful runs, those ten plus
yard runs, it was Raiders weren't ready quick snap and
the Commanders completely ate him up playing college offense Marcus
Mariota at quarterback, and then and then doing the stuff,
the pistol formation, the options, the read options. The Raiders

(27:02):
didn't have a really good plan for that. But I
would say be alert for Crosby on the slant stuff
or him just kind of taking it. But if you
want to run the ball, think about maybe going with
some quick stuff, quick count stuff, just first sound, just
getner center, go first sound, and then go because that
seems the Raiders are kind of doing that. Now to
your point about how to handle him on the edge,

(27:23):
you could space him, which you can make him wider
by alignment. That would be a span Ford somebody over there.
You could bring somebody across scoon maker, bring him across
the formation set up there. I think the chips and
all that are stuff really good.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
He is so long and rangy. It's arm over, it's
arm over. It's slide through.

Speaker 9 (27:43):
I mean, for a really tall guy, he's got that
knack for kind of getting through the gaps and cracks.
But he could also win around the edges too. We've
seen him do that a bunch, So if you're going
to do it, make sure that back. The one thing
that that Dallas does really really well is Williams is
a really good helper if you're if you're if he's
not helping in the middle of the pocket, he could

(28:04):
help to the outside. He does a really good job
of not getting connected with either you know, with with
a steel or with guy, and he stays wide.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
He keeps things wide.

Speaker 9 (28:15):
Sometimes you worry about backs getting too close and then
they mess up the locker.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
He's he's really good at.

Speaker 9 (28:22):
Staying wide and staying but staying engaged to what you're doing.
Such your point. Absolutely keep him wide with spacing. Also
trying maybe chip him a little bit with wims, because
I think he knows how to do it the best.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
Yeah, Brian, you know you're gonna try to get see
the involved, Piggins involved. Yeah, flow Ferguson, I think you
can do whatever you want to do against these guys.
Su Jamal Adams the nerve of him, Jamal, and I'm
still the nerve him nerve these people. But he's playing linebacker.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Now, playing linebacker.

Speaker 5 (28:53):
He's playing regular linebacker now and kind of terror.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
He had a couple more biscuits along the way a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
He was a big dude anyway.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Biscuits.

Speaker 7 (29:03):
Yeah, more biscuits, parcels biscuits.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
And Moore biscuits.

Speaker 5 (29:07):
Stokes Chin, Yeah, Polo mao, Go find them. That's all
they all those are people, those people, Stokes Chin and
Polo Isaiah.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
He thought he might be talking about the United Nations.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
I didn't know what he was talking about.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
Isaiah, Okay, go ahead, Eric Stokes, Jeremy Chin, Isaiah, Polo mao.
You can go find go all right, go find them all,
run past them.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
So you said you can beat all of them, all.

Speaker 5 (29:34):
Of them, every single last one of them, can be
got even their best guy. You you you you say
that their best guy is the killer Blue blame by
Blue Y Keller, Blue Keller, Blue Kelly Uh Kyle Blue
Kyle Blue Kelly.

Speaker 7 (29:51):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (29:51):
He can get it to though, you can you because
you have Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens. So I wouldn't
just isn't a game where you have to shy away
from anybody but everybody.

Speaker 9 (30:00):
Yeah, then Nichols the problems and and VOTs is absolutely
right the way they play their secondary. And if you're
gonna play with base front and base base secondary, you're
gonna like sixty two percent of the time most of
the league. I mean, these guys just line up and
try and beat you that way. And you know, with
Chin having to play in the slot, that's a problem.
Darnay Holmes playing in the slot has been a problem

(30:21):
for them. I think that I think that that Kelly
Kayuk Blue Kelly is the is their best corner. But
VOTs is not wrong, and there's times where they've gone
after him, But Stokes could be Stokes could be had
and the safeties could be had here. So it's it's
kind of a just if you could get the protection
they're gonna they're gonna bank on. They're gonna try and

(30:42):
get their best player home and if he gets home,
then you know you're gonna have problems still in the football.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
But it's but you can make some plays. Dallas.

Speaker 9 (30:50):
Dallas matches up really really well against this against the secondary.

Speaker 7 (30:54):
All right, let's take our final break when we come back,
I want to zero in a little bit more on
the interior of the Cowboys offensive line. We haven't spent
a lot of time talking about Cooper Beebie in his
return in the last game, and Tyler Booker and how
he's progressing as well. Let's talk about that when we
come back. This is Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio.

Welcome back.

Speaker 7 (33:49):
We're in the final segment of the break Clive from
the SWBC Mortgage Studios at the Star. Let's talk about
the interior of the offensive line. Cooper BB returned in
the last game. Talking about what you saw from him?
Where were is he in coming back? Was their rust?
Did you think he played well? Where the areas that
specifically stood out to you about how he was playing?

Speaker 2 (34:09):
What was your assessment?

Speaker 5 (34:10):
I think the Bayde week was good for all these guys.
You know, you just talked about the guys in the
middle there. They all got hurt somehow. And you know
we look at Big Tyler and say, he don't all look,
you know, look like he's the same.

Speaker 7 (34:21):
Kyla has been battling like he's just this reminds me
a lot of like Tyron Smith when you see him
have seasons where he was just battling through and it
wasn't perfect, but you have to know, yeah, but you
have to know like he is battling his injury. Yeah,
he's battling through and I respect that.

Speaker 5 (34:38):
And BB they look a little stiff. They they both
aren't moving the best. Now you will see times where
they're climbing to the next level very well, you know,
so so moving forward may not be a problem. But
it's the same thing with the gap exchangees, SNEM slants
and stunts and all those things. Having to move sideways,
you know, and you know, turn to doing some of

(34:58):
that stuff. They're still kind of stiff and that way,
but they're powerful and honestly athletic. Tape man, you wrap
it up, you probably won't even won't even feel it,
but you still got to recover throughout the week through that.
So I think the bye week's the best thing for
all of them.

Speaker 9 (35:11):
Yeah, you know, it's unfortunate that they've all been dealing
with injuries. I mean it really has been especially inside.
You know, you lose Booker for a couple, you lose
bb for a few, you know, I mean it was
they really there's the lack of continuity inside has been
pretty evident. And go back again, the quarterback has done

(35:33):
a great job. You know, every time you look up,
you know, you do the look at the final book
of the day for the for the stats, it's three
pressures here, four pressures here, four pressures here, three pressures,
two pressures. You know, the quarterback has done a great
job of managing the pocket and all in Arizona game
didn't particularly but VOTs is right there. The movement of
these guys inside I think has been a big, big

(35:55):
issue because again having to get back in there and
get going again, and the continuity, the working together. You
could talk about the practice and all that stuff together,
but you actually get in the game and those gap
exchanges and you're passing guys and you're really not You're like, okay,
I'm going to pass this guy and I hope you know.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
And then you got a guy like Williams.

Speaker 9 (36:15):
I mentioned it, running back picking up like if there's
things that happen inside, he's there picking up a lot
of that. But it hasn't been as clean as you
liked for this group.

Speaker 5 (36:26):
Passed back and for sure, I'm sorry. Five right now,
five offense Atlanta, the same five we've been running there.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
Yeah, that's you gotta do that.

Speaker 5 (36:34):
I'm not making changes at right tackle right now. I
think sometimes we and when I say we, I mean
like like y'all, uh, the new guy you know what
I'm saying, the new guy.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Is really I'll admit to that too.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
This is all right, Brian Brus, you know what I'm saying.
But Nate, Nate is right where he needs to be.
But I don't think it's quite time for him to
take over full time for seventeen eighteen games. You know,
that's always what we say about Brock, right, Like I
like Brock a lot, but you know, for seventeen eighteen nineteen,
you know, you know, playoff push. I don't know, that's
a long time for somebody to just kind of scheme
on him and then we have the idea that all right,

(37:07):
you come in versus like a real talent, and let's
see what that looks like. It could it could be
a little weird.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
You know.

Speaker 5 (37:13):
I know that Terrence kind of will have a bad
game and you know, just people just want to move
on from him. But think about the last game Terrence
and Nate had the same number of pressures and you
know all this kind of stuff, but like Nate played
like twenty less reps than Terrence did, you know, So
I think just keep what you got hold on right now,
I think the writings on the wall, I think it's

(37:34):
it's kind of clear about how this is going to
end up looking future wise, But as far as the
rest of this season goes, I think you should just
keep it at Terrence. And then to be clear, Terrence
ain't a horrible run block and neither I think, you know,
Cowboy offensive line has kind of had the same identity
all year that they run block much better they than
they pass block. Right now, so I think, you know,

(37:55):
game flow helps. You know, I always say game flow,
like what does that mean? Just if I'm passing the ball,
and you know I'm passing the ball, I'm much easier
to defeat because you know what I'm about to do.
If you fly off the football and I get to
smack you upside the head, or I get to let
you go a field and somebody else pull and hit you,
or I get the screen best release in block one

(38:18):
of your potners, then you have a lot more to
think about. But if we're just dropping back and it
ain't quick passing needed because we losing by twenty some points,
we dropping back and were trying to hold the ball
for a little bit to get some downfield, you're going
to beat me more than likely. So if anybody comes
into the game, you could say take out, take out
BB and put it in brock. They all gonna have
the same issue of game flow. I think if you

(38:39):
let the Cowboys offensive line hit first, sometimes I think
they all to be a little better.

Speaker 9 (38:42):
Cask a real quick question to show you chato, and
you're asking the chat.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
I'm asking the chat cheese. It's quick.

Speaker 9 (38:48):
So you guys help me on this one. If the chat,
if the chat, would you are you willing to use
one of your two first round picks on an offensive tackle?

Speaker 4 (38:56):
Man?

Speaker 5 (38:56):
You know what, man, you know they ain't gonna do that, man.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
I'm just curious.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
Can I answer?

Speaker 3 (39:00):
Go ahead? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (39:01):
Yeap, yes, sir? Really, yes, sir?

Speaker 8 (39:05):
Sure?

Speaker 5 (39:06):
Is that because you're the best player available no matter
what situation, or you're looking at offensive tackle as one
of the top needs on this head.

Speaker 7 (39:13):
I don't say I'm best player available no matter the situation.
I am typically best player available, though, so I look
at it as my evaluation is, is the best player
available a position where you can get some use, Yes, sir,
and right now that's avable I need well to some degree.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
But what I mean.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
No, I'm not. I'm just I just say it because
it's true.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Yeah, let me give you the example. Let me give
you the example.

Speaker 7 (39:38):
If they go and let's say they go and sign
pickings here before they get the free agency. If there's
a wide receiver sitting there in the first round, I
don't want to do it because it might be the
best player available. But how much am I going to
get us out of him in the near future? Because
I got two high paid wide receivers that are now
going to be on the field for me barring injury. Now,

(39:59):
So I I guess it does I always want best
player player available, or most of the time, want best
player available. I just want to be smart about it
to know is this a position where I actually can
get use out of this player?

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Does that make sense?

Speaker 7 (40:11):
And when you start again going back to the original question, yes,
you can get use out of a tackle if you draft.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Him in the first round.

Speaker 8 (40:18):
I have they do not sign him?

Speaker 2 (40:24):
Who Pickens?

Speaker 5 (40:26):
Pickens?

Speaker 2 (40:27):
They don't sign it.

Speaker 8 (40:28):
Let's just say, because we don't know for sure, let's
just say that's the case.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
In the draft. Draft Jordan Tyson from it.

Speaker 7 (40:34):
If Pickens is still a free agent by the time
you get to draft, I'm gonna have a lot of
questions anyway, like how is he still Like if if
the Cowboys don't sign him to a new deal before
free agency begins, my thought is the likelies is that'll
probably lose him because then you're laying everybody bid and
it just becomes it becomes really hard to bring him back.

(40:55):
So if they don't get him, if you're at draft
and he's not.

Speaker 8 (41:00):
Wide receiver, now takeover.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
Yes, because we saw it this year.

Speaker 7 (41:05):
Because what happens when what happens when or if CD
is out for an extended period of time. Now I
would ask the panel here do you think that Flinoy
is ready to step into a role like that.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
I don't know. I haven't seen enough to say. I
think I would bet on that.

Speaker 7 (41:22):
So if I had a really good best player available
wide receiver sitting there in the first round and I
don't have picture, then I then I I think I
would really consider it.

Speaker 5 (41:34):
I think defense is such an emergency.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
The whole draft on defense, I could live.

Speaker 5 (41:40):
See.

Speaker 9 (41:41):
You know what if free agency takes you in a
way with righte my defense, I'm.

Speaker 8 (41:49):
Sorry, Oh wow, thank you bring it back something that
Brian Mansharing a few shows ago about drafting on the
defensive side of the ball if you've had as much
success you've had on the offense.

Speaker 7 (42:02):
So I mean, are you saying free agency for defense?

Speaker 2 (42:07):
Well?

Speaker 8 (42:08):
I would because I want experience. But I know draft
you have to that's by design. You have to draft
people even on both sides of the ball, is what
I mean. But when you talk about higher draft picks
based on the recent non success of certain players, would
you considered leaning towards offense.

Speaker 5 (42:29):
No, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna cross my fingers real.

Speaker 8 (42:32):
Hard, crossing, real hard, real hard.

Speaker 5 (42:36):
Like you know, I can I can chalk up the
idea that the Cowboys don't draft well because by the
time they get to the second round, those are like
third round graded guys. At my time they get to
the end of the first round, those are like second
And I think some some guys be reaches to sometimes.
I don't want to say we may, but I think
when you're drafting in the top twelve or so, I

(42:58):
think it's kind of hard to miss on those dues.
For example, Walter Nolan right played his first game with
the Cardinals last week. He was a guy that that
that the Cowboys liked. If he was on our team,
man like that, that would have been a hit for him.
But he was. He's an early draft guy, so it's
hard to miss on, like Michael Parson's type guys if they're.

Speaker 8 (43:15):
Out of curiosity and just for memory.

Speaker 5 (43:18):
Say I'll let you cut me off. Go ahead, Tako.

Speaker 8 (43:20):
When was he drafted.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
Late first first?

Speaker 3 (43:22):
Late first?

Speaker 2 (43:22):
Yeah, was twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
It was late, it was really yeah, I think eight right.

Speaker 8 (43:27):
Now, So you're talking top.

Speaker 5 (43:29):
Fifteen, top fifteen. So I have a theory that you know,
edge has become like quarterback in the way that there's
a tax to where good edges just don't fall in
the second round like they used to. Like like Tank
Lawrence is a famous second round pick that just works out.

Speaker 3 (43:44):
I don't trade up to get him.

Speaker 5 (43:46):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (43:46):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (43:46):
I don't think it happens like that. Like just looking
at last year's draft, James Pierce with the Falcons, right,
he was a guy that we all thought was gonna
be like a second round type dude, you know, great talent,
but second round type guy. But he was drafted at
a premium first round. So now we're the cowboys. We
can't go, okay, well, at the back of the first
he's a first round pick. We may have a two
or three on them. We're just gonna take him at

(44:07):
the back of it. And now we can't treat those
guys the same. So Donvin Azeraku is a difference though,
because he's he's whooping feet, but he was the first
round pick on my board.

Speaker 2 (44:14):
I'll tell you all this.

Speaker 7 (44:15):
This This is where it could also get really interesting.
Let's assume that all these guys that they brought in
and that are coming back from injury, they start working
into shape, start playing better, get to December and they're
playing pretty good. I wonder how much that then affects
how Dallas looks at the offense front. I mean it
looks at the offseason from a defensive standpoint, because if

(44:38):
Overshown's back to playing like himself, if Revel's showing you
signs that he can play, you know, Williams is gonna
be doing his thing, right, Wilson, I mean, see what
you're getting from then.

Speaker 3 (44:48):
I'm just saying sign safety draft to safe, right, But I'm.

Speaker 7 (44:51):
Saying, does it change the whole complexion of what we're
talking about, because right now we're looking at we like man,
you you could go on the defense and get a player.
But I wonder how much that because you know, Brian,
you talked about this a lot. You know, sometimes you
can get in your head where you start thinking, well,
we gotta get answer now. And it may have only
been for a short period of time, but you start
feeling and it starts affecting what you think you really need.

(45:13):
That could throw a lot of changes into how we're
looking at the off season from the defensive standpoint.

Speaker 9 (45:18):
Other people what they're saying they want to they want
to tackle tackle.

Speaker 5 (45:22):
Uh people in the chat, there was a there was
a mixed yeses and those, and one person says, uh nah,
all defense on with y'all. I think I think, no
matter what, it should be edge and linebacker, because you
never run out of you. You can never have too
many edges, and even at linebacker. Right, Demo comes back,
he's fantastic. Logan Wilson another year in this contract, he's cool.
Demo still got injury history, so you still may want

(45:43):
to keep yourself safe in that way. And then when
you move on from Logan, we've seen how bad this
defense could be with no linebacker help. I'm going linebacker regardless,
and then it's either past. Micah was twelve, twelfth overall
and we stumbled into a pass rush of there. He
was a linebacker, but we stumbled into a great pass
rusher there.

Speaker 3 (46:03):
I think got hurt during the practice. Dan Quinn just
we got lucky. The Chargers played my kid edge.

Speaker 5 (46:08):
We got lucky. So your edge linebacker or Caleb downs,
not safety necessarily, but owns.

Speaker 2 (46:13):
Yeah, I've seen people talking about that young man.

Speaker 5 (46:16):
Too soon for me, but I'll bring it all down.

Speaker 7 (46:18):
Appreciate you guys joining to swooping back tomorrow. Uh's gonna
be leading the show tomorrow with the two Team. I
will be listening in, so everybody be on your best behavior.
And uh, I'm gonna be on a plane. I'm gonna
be on a plane.

Speaker 5 (46:32):
A Mischionine Star restaurant or something.

Speaker 7 (46:35):
You gotta go to New York see my baby girl.
All Right, till then for watching some Barty Brian brought us.
Amber Garcia, appreciate you joining. We'll be back tomorrow. Dallas
Cowboys That Camerado.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
