With all these stud defensive tackles on the roster now, there’s been talk about playing some 5-2 alignments on defense. So, should they switch to a 3-4 base to get those guys on the field? Also, how much can we expect from both the new guys and those coming back from injury? Is the defense overall going to look vastly different?

Speaker 10 (03:07):
What is this?

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Was? You know college, you do crazy stuff? Okay, So
it's uh, you know, everybody was doing the praying hands.

Speaker 9 (03:14):
So I thought I'd be creative because I was a
wide receiver and I just got like praying hands and
football gloves and it says heavenly.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Received, right right, good you do stuff? Twenty Did you doing.

Speaker 10 (03:25):
Something like that heaven received?

Speaker 5 (03:28):
No?

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Okay, I like about you your youatoo?

Speaker 6 (03:32):
No, I have no I got fat too, I said
when I turned forty, I was either going to buy
a motorcycle, do drugs for the first time, or get
a tattoo.

Speaker 7 (03:42):
And I didn't do any of them.

Speaker 8 (03:43):
Good man, he doesn't have a football. He is always
for the energy.

Speaker 6 (03:54):
Yeah, you want a few people I know got emoji
tattooed on them.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Emojic.

Speaker 10 (03:59):
That's not that's funny. You got it, you got it,
You got it got.

Speaker 7 (04:09):
Not watching playing hands.

Speaker 10 (04:11):
Just you put thank you university.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
That's funny.

Speaker 10 (04:17):
Somebody told me.

Speaker 7 (04:18):
Those really aren't praying hands. Everybody just ran with it.

Speaker 6 (04:21):
Originally was supposed to be a high five. If you
look at it, it does look like a high five.
But everybody started going yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Yeah, like put your right hand up.

Speaker 9 (04:30):
That would be dumb because if I gave him a
high five, he's not giving me a high five with
his left, so that would be opposite hand.

Speaker 7 (04:37):
Like, we don't Maybe that's a lie the same hand
to get it.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
See, maybe I have to rese usually the same hand,
that's true.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
That's awkward. It's like you usually it's usually opposite hands.

Speaker 10 (04:47):
The word dyslexic mean anything.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Yeah, mold you dyslexic.

Speaker 7 (04:56):
Yeah, like that would be elexic. I don't know, like
high five. I'll do some research.

Speaker 9 (05:01):
I should research, right, So that's like right, that's how
that's weird?

Speaker 7 (05:05):
Do it with that hand?

Speaker 10 (05:06):
Does that feel weird?

Speaker 4 (05:07):
See that feels more comfortable? Right to come across?

Speaker 6 (05:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 10 (05:11):
You can do it either way.

Speaker 7 (05:12):
Let's do some research.

Speaker 10 (05:13):
We'll do some research.

Speaker 7 (05:14):
In the break. How we doing today?

Speaker 10 (05:16):
We're good? Good to thank your hands.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
What's that Thursday?

Speaker 10 (05:20):
This week?

Speaker 5 (05:20):
This week?

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Strack him?

Speaker 10 (05:22):
Is it? Yeah? Not a win?

Speaker 6 (05:23):
Kind of yeah, we gotta get that extra show this boy.

Speaker 10 (05:28):
Yes, we're gonna take you that.

Speaker 6 (05:32):
Sebment our invoice with a bonus day, Chris Nate's bonus day.

Speaker 10 (05:40):
Think we get that.

Speaker 7 (05:41):
One past, Derek.

Speaker 10 (05:43):
Do you know the.

Speaker 6 (05:46):
Whole show wiped the whole He finally got his excuse
y'all done?

Speaker 9 (05:50):
Yeah, I don't know if you found that funny or not,
but you ain't gonna get paid what text?

Speaker 7 (05:56):
We're doing good today though, Kurt.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
You look at your pants today. Your pants are nice.
I walked by him in the hall and was taking
up the hall and I had to sitting.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
You had to kind of yeah. You was in the
office with me. When's you Seum?

Speaker 6 (06:11):
When I came in, he was out there holding court.

Speaker 7 (06:13):
He was telling some story. I don't know what it is.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
I know you get around, you know thick black brothers,
and you.

Speaker 7 (06:18):
Watch out lose my mind. Your eyes dropped below the horizon.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
That's crazy, that's wild. That is a wild place for
your eyes.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
All right, let's take our eyes to the depth chart
because since we're doing uh cowboys defense, what do you
guys think the starting and does it even matter if
they're if they're as a starter or not, because you're
probably gonna see up front a good maybe a balanced rotation.

Speaker 7 (06:49):
Is that what you guys are thinking?

Speaker 6 (06:50):
Because they have on the depth chart listed Quinn Williams
is tackle, Kenny Clark his nose, tackle Clowney left defensive end,
and uh of An Asaraku is right defensive end at
OsO backing up quinnin which may surprise some people. Some
people may have thought that it's gonna be Quinning.

Speaker 7 (07:08):
Next to Osa. What do you guys see the front?

Speaker 5 (07:10):
Can I clarify something right?

Speaker 4 (07:12):
Yes?

Speaker 11 (07:12):
This the the depth charts we're looking at are from
our lads dot com. Okay, the Cowboys official depth chart
came out and they've got Clark, Williams, and o'diggie Zoo
all listed his first team.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
M hmm, yeah, so I don't the way they've got it.

Speaker 11 (07:26):
They've got as Iraku end, Fowler at end starting all
three different.

Speaker 6 (07:32):
So that leads me to a deeper question, Kurt, why
are we supporting a third party website with our research
on the show and not going by the official well
website of the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas Cowboys dot com.

Speaker 7 (07:45):
Be careful what you say here, Be careful.

Speaker 11 (07:48):
It seemed easier to read basically, okay, And a lot
of times the.

Speaker 7 (07:52):
Visiting more printer friendly.

Speaker 11 (07:54):
Yeah, a lot of especially the visiting depth charts a
lot of times are tough to in.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Our last number one being more update our last is it?

Speaker 10 (08:05):
Yeah, they are more updated.

Speaker 7 (08:07):
And you get them all on one spot too.

Speaker 6 (08:08):
You don't have to go run them down.

Speaker 7 (08:09):
Okay, Just wonder Kurt, so what do you what do
you guys think?

Speaker 6 (08:13):
And then what I'm just you know, just checking kurk
just checking a call into the carpet, like try try
to get Kurt Man one of the cowboys because our
lads has as UH.

Speaker 9 (08:26):
And then he's gonna try to then he gonna say
it out loud. You can said the depth that you
don't have to say what name. It came from What's up?

Speaker 10 (08:31):
Cowboys? Depth? He said, our lads, you just said what.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
I said it first.

Speaker 6 (08:38):
He said it first, and I didn't throw him completely
under the bus.

Speaker 5 (08:41):
You did half.

Speaker 7 (08:44):
Anyway.

Speaker 12 (08:45):
UH.

Speaker 6 (08:45):
A third party website has UH Kenneth Murray starting to
at UH Logan Wilson and then they have UH Shavn
Revels staring in front of Kaitlyn Carson. So what what
do what's the official I guess the Cowboys have them
starting that same same.

Speaker 5 (09:07):
Same well no, I take that back.

Speaker 11 (09:09):
Cowboys for cornerback, they have or Revel, Okay and Murray
or Wilson. So I guess there's some some things up
in the air about it. I assume this is all
just trying not to hurt anybody's feelings.

Speaker 10 (09:25):
So they're Wow, they got We're on the same page.
That is the problem with this.

Speaker 11 (09:34):
I mean, are they going to start three defensive tackles?
Are they going to start Schevon Revel?

Speaker 10 (09:39):
Why not? Why not that?

Speaker 7 (09:40):
Yeah, that's my question.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Shot he said in this pressor.

Speaker 9 (09:44):
He was saying that you're gonna literally just said it
a few minutes ago, talked about, you know, some of
those five man front looks, and he was like, you know,
we can that can be implemented. We started doing it
before and then goes and I wouldn't be surprised if
there's something we'd do in this game against.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
The Vegas maybe doing it. Yeah, I don't know, if
it's first down.

Speaker 9 (10:01):
I mean I'll say this, I'll say this when you're
getting to this game. The one way that you can
kind of make them play with one arm behind their back.
You go to a five man front, you shut that
run down. You got brock boyers, and now you say,
all right, Gino get us.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
You have to beat this.

Speaker 9 (10:19):
You have to beat this with Tyler Lockett and Trey
Turner go. That's if So, if I'm if I'm Matt
ebra Flus, I'm going the new toy you just got me.
No need to, no need to keep them on the
sideline he's been playing. Let's go, let's let's clog this
thing up with with our five man fronts. And then
now our linebackers run, let them run and hunt, and

(10:42):
let's let's see if we can't shut down Ashton gent
Because I'm I'm sure you know hometown kid. This is
a kid who's from this area. I'm sure he probably
cheered for the Cowboys coming up. Would nothing, would love
nothing best better then to go off on the cowboys
like Rico when all the other running backs that one
off on the cowboys.

Speaker 11 (11:01):
So even though there's no they're still learning the playbook.
There's no there's no ramp up.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
So okay, not for him, not for the the closer
to the ball as a defensive defensive player, the closer
you are unless you have to learn basic responsibilities are
the same unless you start running games and stunts. Now
you they change a little bit. But the closer you
are to the ball, the problem. The person that's gonna

(11:26):
have to learn is gonna have the problem is Wilson.
How much you give him of the playbook and how
much of the defense you run. Uh, but a three
technique was a three technique until you start running games
and stunts, and now now you get a different look.

Speaker 9 (11:42):
But it has I mean white Cotton was coaching him
at the yes, so he understands the terminology and what
he doesn't understand maybe because some teams, you know, they
can call the.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Same thing and the lingo may be different, right right,
And all they.

Speaker 9 (11:57):
Got to basically say is like, hey, hey brother, this Yeah,
we call it tango here, you know, but it's it's
lucy what we ran What was lucy?

Speaker 4 (12:05):
Okay?

Speaker 9 (12:06):
No, No, tango is lucy to me, because that's what
we called it when we was with over here. So
for Quinn, I don't I don't think it's And then
he the simple the the upfront responsibilities.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
Is a lot, like you said, a lot more simpler
than it.

Speaker 10 (12:23):
The thing that it's it's only okay, what does coach?

Speaker 11 (12:29):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (12:30):
What is no? No, I'm trying to offensive coorder to
the head.

Speaker 13 (12:33):
Coach O'Brien shot, hummer, Pete Carroll, we'll get there. Our lads, Kelly,
our lads, get you. I should have looked on the
top of our lads right here.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Uh. We all know that one Pete Carroll what he's
trying to do when he got Ashton Genty. I knew,
Jess knew, and you guys knew he was gonna run
this kid, and he gonna keep trying, and he gonna
keep trying until the damn break one day. And this
is what this is all based off of. It's him

(13:10):
when Jesse said, put them five guys up. If you
stop Pete Carroll, you only have one other weapon.

Speaker 10 (13:17):
That is Rock Bowers. That is it. Now.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
You jam him, hit him, push him to whatever you
gotta do.

Speaker 10 (13:24):
Now.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Gino has proven not to be that guy we saw
in Seattle. But one thing Coach Carroll is not gonna
stop trying to do is run the football. His offensive
line is banged up. I think you got him here
on our cheat sheet that they number thirty one.

Speaker 10 (13:42):
Out of thirty two. So this is who they are now.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
I didn't know how good brock Bowers is because he
doesn't have a lot of yardage, But everybody, even I
heard you and everybody just raves on this kid.

Speaker 10 (13:59):
Tell us about rock powers.

Speaker 9 (14:02):
Yeah, he missed a couple of games this year due
to a knee injury. But you talk about the new
age level of tight ends, he fits in that mold.
He is a guy who they line up everywhere. They're
gonna flex him outside of the number. They're gonna have
him in the slot, They're gonna have him in line,
they're gonna have him in the backfield. Like brock Bowers
is gonna line up at every every single position that

(14:24):
you can line up an eligible pass catcher, and they're
trying to get him the ball. He is a game changer.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
He is.

Speaker 9 (14:34):
He's too big for your corners and or uh Nickel
slot players. He's too he's too quick for some of
your linebackers trying to guard him. And he and he
plays bigger than six foot four, he plays six six.
He plays you know, and and he's he fits in

(14:54):
that new realm, that tight end you. You know that
that dog right that that that h like Trey McBride was,
like Kittle is in in in uh in San Francisco.
They have that that energy where they want to they
want to make the play, but then they want to
crush you. Yes they're not they're not avoiding contact. And

(15:15):
and Brock, you know, he's another one of the guys.
If you put you got to put his hand in
the dirt, he'll put his hand in dirt. He'll block you,
no problem. But right now, with the lack of receiving
talent and the one receiver that they did have in
Jacobe Myers, they traded him away. So the focal point
now a lot of it's going to be on Brock

(15:35):
Bowers and how do you get him the ball in
many different formations? Chip Kelly, you know we all remember
that name for what he did at college and the
college level.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
So trying to.

Speaker 9 (15:44):
Have uh Brock Brock is a is a mitchmatch, a
mits miss Matt nightmare.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
He gives you a headache.

Speaker 9 (15:54):
But because there aren't other weapons out here, and you're
hoping now that we can kind of not have to
commit so many guys to the box because of the
five man front that we're gonna be running, and that
should be able to one create pressure with Clowney and Azaraku,
but also plog up those run lanes with the three
guys that you talked about earlier, quinnin Osa and Kenney,

(16:18):
and now I can have more guy and most guys
in coverage. This is this is kind of it'll get
back to a little bit of what Matt eber.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Flus wants to call the defense.

Speaker 9 (16:28):
He wants to have play that zone because man, the man,
if those guys aren't covering and I committed that many
gods to the line of scrimmage, then I'm in trouble
on the back end. So he would much rather prefer
to line those guys up front and.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
Uh, you know, and to do that.

Speaker 9 (16:48):
But Brock Bauers is a guy that again he is
as he's a matchup headach. He is an absolute matchup headic.
And then you know, they got the other big coy,
the other big guy from Notre Dame, Michael Myers. So
they got a bunch of big tight ends, you know
what I mean That they're trying to get the ball
to and and and the other guys are just speed guys.
Tyler Lockett's trying to, you know, catch lightning in the

(17:10):
bottle again. He's the old dog of the crew. He
went back and joined Pete Carroll after he acts for
his release from Tennessee. So I don't see much outside
of Rock Bowers in the passing game and the way
that Geno Smith. And again I always have to say
this with my air quotes and my caution, Geno Smith
has been abysmal this year. He has not been anywhere

(17:31):
near close to what he was in Seattle. He hasn't
played the Cowboys defensive. So I'm just saying he had
like you watch it on film and you're like, what
the hell are you doing? He has He has some
mind boggling, head scratching plays in games and you're like.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
What did you see?

Speaker 7 (17:51):
Why?

Speaker 5 (17:52):
When?

Speaker 10 (17:52):
Where?

Speaker 4 (17:53):
What you He.

Speaker 9 (17:55):
Looks He looks like a kid who just got to
the league and not a kid who's been in this
league for a long time a lot of the.

Speaker 6 (18:01):
Time, which is weird because didn't didn't he when he
kind of had the the rebirth of his career, rejuvenation
or whatever. Pete Carroll was still in Seattle, right.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
Yes, because it's yeah, yeah, he was yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:14):
It was like yeah, so, which is kind of weird that.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
His offensive line is horrible.

Speaker 9 (18:21):
His offensive line, like Nate was saying, is banged up.
They're not the but Gino's is making some He's making
some weird man, he's making some weird just I don't know.
It seemed like he's not seeing the field properly. He's
in his head, he's trusting his arm to be better
than what it actually is. And I don't know, I

(18:42):
don't know what he's seeing on film weekend and week out,
but he's he's he's he's making some throws as if
he has this this big, high powered type of you know, arm,
and he does it by the time getting him. I
don't even know if his father, Tom is stupidity, and
I don't I'm not. That's not a personal attack. That's football,

(19:03):
Like he's he's just doing some bonehead stuff like he's
his reads are off his I don't know what he's
seeing and he could be pressing. And it also helps,
I mean, it also does not help when you don't
have guys like you know, Davonte Adams that was in
you know, uh in Vegas and you don't have other
players that are there that can kind of help you
in this process because they are good route runners and

(19:25):
good sears of what the coverage is and being able
to maneuver and manipulate the covers and be able to
run routes. He just doesn't have that. A lot of
these guys' names, you don't. You don't know who Deontay
Thornton is. You don't know who Trey Turner is. You
know Tyler Lockett, but Tyler Lockett one hundred seventy six years.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Old, you know what I mean?

Speaker 9 (19:40):
So outside of brock Bowers and hopefully trying to get
asking Genty to have a career day, and there isn't
much out there for for Geno Smith to to to
throw to, to rely on.

Speaker 7 (19:53):
That's like our first break.

Speaker 6 (19:54):
I have one more question about the defense, and then maybe.

Speaker 10 (19:58):
We're just like which one run though one to thirty two?
What de fans it's two D thirty one thirty two
which they.

Back to Hanging with the Bulls.

Speaker 6 (22:27):
Welcome back to the second segment of Hanging with the Boys,
brought you each in every show by Blockchain dot com.
Buck Chain, All right, thank you, Jesse dot com.

Speaker 7 (22:38):
All right, one question about.

Speaker 6 (22:41):
The defense and then we can move on, Kurt, you
can take us wherever you want.

Speaker 7 (22:44):
Because you had a lot of points.

Speaker 6 (22:47):
I don't know if I'll get to all of them.
So we'll get to his means, we can roughly five
new guys from what I can tell, we'll have a
significant part in this game that haven't been on your
roster before your last games. Let's say Quinn Williams overshown
uh Revel, Logan Wilson, who.

Speaker 9 (23:09):
By the way, his daddy came on our show the
other day, not to show my other show, and was
he was writing checks.

Speaker 6 (23:17):
You mentioned that he was writing, said he was going
to get a pick this game.

Speaker 9 (23:21):
He was writing check for the boy he was he
Senior was writing I mean cash money checks for Junior.

Speaker 6 (23:28):
I think Junior called him and said, hey, cool to Jetson.

Speaker 9 (23:31):
I told him, Daddy, if you don't you better, don't
don't duck me on Tuesday. You got to come back
on the show on Tuesday. He was like, he was
he and I get it. That's what the daddy's supposed
to do, right, Yeah, he's supposed to have.

Speaker 5 (23:44):
The most countless players have had guys like please.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
Yeah, Like dad's supposed to something. But sometimes you let
him play. Let him He like he gonna be on
brock Bowers.

Speaker 6 (23:56):
And about that, that's one I probably you know you
called a name.

Speaker 10 (24:00):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 9 (24:00):
He was like, if he throw it out him, if
he throw it out of him, like more than once,
he's going one of them will be a pick.

Speaker 6 (24:05):
I I would have called Dad and been like, hey,
let's call it.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
Said, Okay, Poppy, Okay, all.

Speaker 6 (24:13):
Right, let's just say four four significant players that will
have significant playing time that haven't been on this team
or haven't played much or at all before the last game.
Can four guys? Can this defense look vastly different? Let
me just refray, can we hold a team below thirty

(24:35):
points with the addition of some new guys? And I'm
not saying these guys specifically, but I'm just saying, I mean,
you've got one one significant guy, we'll just say in
Quentin Williams. Then you got what we're hearing as a
as a a good player in Logan Wilson. Then you've
got Jerry's been you know, talking about overshown coming back

(24:55):
for six weeks, right.

Speaker 7 (24:57):
And then you have.

Speaker 6 (25:00):
What was the other one whom I'm missing here, oh
ravel that they've been everybody's really high on that side
of the building. It's gonna be some growing pain. It's
gonna be some I guess, ramp up with the guys
that have been injured. But can we is there some
hope that we this is the first step of getting
better with just four new guys kind of in the rotation?

Speaker 4 (25:19):
Yes, okay, yes, all right.

Speaker 11 (25:22):
But are you going to get much impact from anyone
other than quinnin you hope that's the hope.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
That's definitely the hope.

Speaker 9 (25:29):
The hope is that the hope is that Quentin comes
in and is a force multiplier, right like, he comes
in and he's considered one of the best interior.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
Defensive linemen in the league.

Speaker 9 (25:41):
So you would think just in that it has to
kind of raise all boats a little bit. And then
if if for a linebacker have to battle, is knowing
where the hell to go? So if if if Logan
is as good and and smart and stinkful and smart

(26:03):
as he's being projected to be, at least he's going
to be in the right place and others will be
in the right place. Now what they do when they
get there, we gotta wait. But getting there is one
hundred percent half to battle, and it's all gonna come
down to, really, honestly, can you cover, because that's that's

(26:26):
really been a lot of the Achilles heel for the
Cowboys defense this year is you just can't.

Speaker 4 (26:33):
Cover in the back end.

Speaker 9 (26:34):
And you know, the quarterback hasn't been impacted because the
ball's coming out of his handle. Wide open receivers, so
he's not having to hold the ball very long. Receivers
are flying wide open. Coveragses are being busted, and and
and routes are being run and dudes, is they doing
Dance Dance USA on the ground and touchdowns are being scored.

(26:55):
So that's going to be the ultimate conversation is you know,
Kayln Carson, who played decently and the most people talk
about Kayla Carson played in the last game he played
against the Cardinals. No one said a word about it.
People didn't even recognize it.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
And he played okay.

Speaker 9 (27:10):
He played okay, So we'll shotty look at that and
give him another nod to go, all right, young fella,
you're gonna go out there. You know, maybe in eleven
personnel you go, you go Carson, slot Bland into the
slot and then maybe go ravel outside. I don't know,
but you would hope that. I'm not saying it's going

(27:31):
to be a huge jump, but there should be should
This thing should look different. It should look different, it
should feel different. The vibes of what's happening out there,
because you did add a player of significance in Quinn Williams,
should help you.

Speaker 5 (27:46):
You think that, hars.

Speaker 11 (27:48):
We probably have one of the best defensive tackle rotations
in the league. I mean, got the two. They've put
so much investment in the stopping the run. Now that
I mean it's a pass defense, all that much better
theoretically you would get more pressure.

Speaker 10 (28:06):
This guy is unique. This guy is unique.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
He is a pass rusher and he is a run stopper.
His run stoppability is maybe better than his past rushing ability.
And that's because if they don't double him, you'll see
even better this this kid is unique. So if we
can get together and concentrate on stopping to run, I

(28:35):
challenge I challenge you guys, not Jesse, because he's already
doing it. Watch Seattle, watch the Rams, watch teams of
that ill They in the first half, the first quarter,
they finished stop your run, They finished smash you.

Speaker 10 (28:55):
We never heard of their defensive ends.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
But all of a sudden, at the end of the game,
they got four sacks, fifteen herds and six hits. Brother,
you stopped to run and make make that team fear
fear you that you will get past rusher. You never
thought you would get it. I'm serious, man.

Speaker 10 (29:13):
Our big issue here with the Dallas Cowboys is.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
I'm gonna say, with nobody else to say, we went
out and got a linebacker.

Speaker 10 (29:24):
The number one thing we said. He's smart. He can
get everybody lined up. What does that tell you?

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Tell the other twenty guys that's already on the team,
you can't even line up let him. If you can't
line up, how you gonna know where to go? What
keys you're gonna know how to read? So this guy
gonna help you line up. The quicker he learn, the
better he said they gonna learn. He is the connected
between the middle of the field and the back end.

Speaker 10 (29:48):
Of the field.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Fellas, this is where we're supposed to be. I challenge
you guys. Watch watch the forty nine ers, watch Denver,
watch the Rams, watch Sea out of their defenses, and
watch it before the play goals off, Hi, everybody talking
pointing safety saying no, no, no goal. Brother, that's communication.

(30:11):
You break the huddle and you got a base defense.
Everybody no where to go, But you mean to tell
me one guy motion across the formation and everything goes
to hell. So you ain't got that guy. We back
to Sean Lee. Hey, Sean Lee, don't play. We lose
the game.

Speaker 10 (30:28):
That's where we.

Speaker 11 (30:29):
At Can I got a new guy like Wilson, who
in his past was one of the leaders of the
Bengals defense. He can't come in now and be a
leader here.

Speaker 5 (30:37):
Kenny on the money, Yeah why not? I mean with
guys like why not?

Speaker 10 (30:42):
Why not?

Speaker 5 (30:42):
They're like a pecking order of.

Speaker 10 (30:44):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, you know.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
And I'll use a reference when I got hired.

Speaker 9 (30:53):
When I got hired to be athletic director many years ago,
and we took over a school, and we took over
a school. I remember the first meeting I had with
the staff, the athletic staff, and my conversation to them
was basically this, I'm not here because y'all were great, Like,

(31:17):
I'm here because there was a deficiency. We're here because
there was a level of deficiency in this school. And
I think that's like the same conversation like, we may
not change everything. Something was broke, some things will be changed.
And so if someone comes in, that person has been
brought here for a specific reason. Logan Wilson is here

(31:41):
because they could not play linebacker. Well, Quinn Williams is
here because.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
If folks don't want to say it, but I whisper
it to y'all.

Speaker 12 (31:54):
Kenny Clark wasn't what Jerry thought he was going to
be when he got here, because if he was, he
wouldn't have went out and got another defensive tackle. Sh
don't tell everybody that, because then they'll say that if trade.

Speaker 4 (32:10):
Didn't work out.

Speaker 9 (32:11):
But guys only come to teams when you have a need.
George Pickens is here why.

Speaker 10 (32:20):
Because the jailor got understanding work.

Speaker 12 (32:23):
Because Jalen Don'ver and Ryan Illinoy and Mingo and the
rests of those guys they weren't good enough to go
opposite Ceeeelham and they couldn't make plays and single coverage.
Sh don't tell nobody.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
That's why.

Speaker 10 (32:39):
You ever seen the movie Equalizer?

Speaker 4 (32:41):
Yes, the first one.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
Well, he met with all the cops and everything. Say
I'm not here, Say I'm sorry. You remember that, you
need to see it and he broke them down. He said,
I'm here to tell you what to do. Yeah, and
that's what this kid is. You know, everybody's you know,
I'm glad that I'm a little bit different. You know,

(33:03):
I'm the biggest cowboy fan, But to have to kiss
everybody's behind to said in a politically correct way, don't always.

Speaker 10 (33:14):
Be the truth.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
This kid came just for what Jesse said and what
I've said. He is the brains of the operation, and
they trying to get him up to speed every day.
They were so excited when he came off the plane
or the helicopter. However, they got in there saying I
want to playbook. I need a playbook. That was exciting
to them because evidently somebody over there ain't said I

(33:39):
want to playbook.

Speaker 10 (33:40):
Okay, it's just it's just it's the truth.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
And I you know, I've been waiting for this opportunity
to say that.

Speaker 10 (33:46):
I mean, I hope it don't come back to haunt me.
But he's the brain.

Speaker 7 (33:51):
All right, let's take our last break.

Speaker 6 (33:53):
When we come back, we talk about whatever Kurt wants
to talk about.

Speaker 10 (33:56):
Find out what that is, you know, sold him down
the river. Whatever you talk.

Back to Hanging with.

Speaker 6 (36:10):
The Boys, Welcome back to the third segment. I'm hanging
with the boys and just like seven eleven, we are
always open for business in this third segment. Thank you
seven eleven for being a great sponsor.

Speaker 10 (36:26):
Thank you very much. Uh.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Shannon had a question off air that was I thought
that was great and we were talking about Kenny Clark
and we was talking about Williams the new acquisition.

Speaker 10 (36:41):
Let me both guys can play both positions.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
What was the question? What?

Speaker 10 (36:47):
I don't know what was the question?

Speaker 9 (36:49):
There was a question, was that way that we're we're
letting them into conversation that we.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
Had so we got to get it.

Speaker 6 (36:53):
It was basically a two part conversation. One was with
Quinn taking the double team blocks. Now, is that with
Kenny being freed up to have more one on one blocks,
if one, is that gonna make him a lot better player?
And the guy that we probably all thought we were
getting right now, he's having to eat up two blocks

(37:14):
and then two. If you have two guys that weren't
double teams, do you want them close together where there's
where there's traffic because the double team's going that way
and there's more bodies over there, or do you want
to split them up where there's more room around one
of the guys because of the double teams being kind

(37:34):
of gone to the other side of the line.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
And I told him in the middle of a defense,
you don't get to dictate that you don't get you
because Kenny Clark plays normally over the center that guard
depending on the strength or if they plan to the
strength of the week side, he's gonna be head up
to outside out of either the guard. If they go

(37:59):
to a five man look, you know he'll be over
to one of He'll be over to one of the guards.
Olsoll be over one of the guards. The center, then
two outside guys over tackles. But were talking about it,
I'm talking about the four man front and that way.

Speaker 6 (38:14):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
You you have to decide whether you want to double
that nose guard or you want to decide whether you're
gonna double that three technique, which is hard, which is
hard because you want to be going away from that
three technique so you can scoop him out of there
because if you go in to him, I mean your
tackle have to come down and bump, which you don't

(38:35):
want to do. That three is automatically on play side
of plays is automatically free unless you straight going straight,
unless you straight running a place straight ahead, he's free.
And that is why you get that three technique because
you normally you have a guy outside of him, expecially
if you shave to the strong side, it's called a
over tackle. In over the tackle three technique, he can't

(39:01):
be touched. He can't be touched unless you wham him trapping.
He can't be touched with two people. So, uh you,
I would prefer a more athletic guy in which is
Quinny William, My better player, which is Quinny William over
that three technique.

Speaker 11 (39:18):
So let me ask you. This is gonna ask dumb
football question here, but it ain't done. We talked about
the five to two. We're lining up the boat on
the five, and we've had fans asked this before. Why
don't you take those three guys Osa, Clark and Quinnon
and run a three four? I mean, as a rocker

(39:38):
seems more built for outside Lambricker Fowler played at three
four last year. He's you know, he's not as big.
What what's the difference I guess between a five two
and a three four?

Speaker 9 (39:47):
A preference from the coach, howbility and stuff? I guess, yes, yeah,
in in a sense so like it's it's it's style,
It's it's how guys will have to rush with gaps
they'll have to hold and then you know we've already
been through the conversation about what a defensive coordinator wants
to run. Right there are certain players that you want

(40:11):
to draft and develop that are going to play a
specific three four defense opposed to a four to three defense,
and so on and so forth. And if a coach
is not comfortable in calling that, or you know, doesn't
have a game plan and wrapped around that, that makes
a world of a difference in communication and the understanding
and the blocking and all of the technical things.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
I mean, you have a three four defense, the angles
are so much different. For offensive linemen, the angles are different.
If I got a guy over my head, I just
boom boom, I'm connecting with him right away.

Speaker 10 (40:42):
That's what the three four gives offensive guard a chance.
I'm connecting with him.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
But in the same breath, if you put them linebackers back, now,
I got to take a step here and check check, check,
and depending on how good that lineback he is, and
he hit that gap, he know what he's doing. That's
like the new kid we got. He coming at me
real quick. So if I got to be messing around
here with with Quinny, you know, put making sure I
got two hands on him by the time I come back,

(41:09):
this dude could be up on me if he's smart,
or if we run in a sweep and we're trying
to get quinn scooped all of a sudden. We got
to be real capful because you can't let Quinny loose
too quick, because that lineback on beer and I'm gonna
give you per example. Go watch Denver. They run this
thing to perfection. Bro, They runs a thing.

Speaker 10 (41:28):
I've always hated.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
The three four, especially when you got two inside linebackers
that are dogs.

Speaker 10 (41:34):
They can run and they can come up and stuff you.
That is that. I don't want to play that. I
want that dude.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
Right there where I can feel him right quick like
that for me. And this team here doesn't do well
against that either, when they can't just fill a dude
real quick game lights out, lights out.

Speaker 11 (41:51):
Is it hard for those interior defensive guys to switch
from a four to three to three to four? Uh?

Speaker 2 (41:57):
It just depend on the guy. Like like Quinny, I
would want him at a three technique. I don't want
him out of five. I don't want to take him
too far away from action. He quick twitched for a
big man. I don't want to take him too far
away from ash, even though I think he'll be great,
and I just I want him that three four. I
know big Man ninety five can play the nose. If

(42:20):
he had to rock that thing by self, he could
play the nose. Now the other guy is what I'm
worried about. I'm worried about.

Speaker 9 (42:26):
O tell me if I'm wrong on right on this one, Nate,
when you talk about those interior guys and three four,
you want those guys to be a little bit more heavier.

Speaker 10 (42:34):
Though, right, yes, sir, they're gonna beep, yes, sir.

Speaker 9 (42:36):
That's the thing, is that, like when you're talking about
having those interior defensive linemen, like like Quinn is one
of the guys that fits in that bial, but like
like Kenny, you can look it up.

Speaker 4 (42:46):
I don't think Kenny is. I don't think Kenny or
Olsa is three hundred pounds.

Speaker 9 (42:50):
No, No, I think they're both right like around a
two eighty five ish.

Speaker 4 (42:54):
But he mark he's not wiry Kenny.

Speaker 10 (42:57):
That's wow, Okay, No, he's not wiry uh.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
I'm talking about wy rebuilt. Kenny is not wild rebuilt.
He he can handle that one technique. He's not wire,
he's he's stump tree built. That's a difference. Uh O,
say is wir rebuilt, OSA is wire rebuilt? And uh
that would help them, that would help on the five
technique to be be wire rebuilt. But what you want

(43:26):
everybody is a post guy in the three four technique,
And what I mean by every the two tackles, which
is two ends, will have to be I'm stopping you,
I'm not, and I'm playing both sides because I gotta
free up my defensive event, my my outside linebackers, and

(43:47):
I gotta hold you just for a split second for
my two inside guy.

Speaker 10 (43:51):
This thing is built.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
The three four is built for your nose tackle and
two inside and outside linebackers to run and make and
wreck hav it. These two guys, these two tackles that's
sitting over to your tackles, they are more post guys.

Speaker 10 (44:08):
When you get guys that are a little.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
Bit more than that, like Denver has that Zach Allen
guy and the other guy, they'll live bit more than
that because they're better athletes, and they're tall and they're long,
so they can get out there on you. So they
more than what you what you normally gonna run into.

Speaker 7 (44:25):
So all right, good stuff.

Speaker 6 (44:29):
We're out of time, Kurt, Sorry your segment.

Speaker 5 (44:32):
Gut, No, that's what's the question I was gonna ask.

Speaker 7 (44:34):
All right, glad you got to ask it.

Speaker 6 (44:37):
We will take some phone calls tomorrow extra bonus day
tomorrow phone calls, and.

Speaker 10 (44:44):
I'm signing up and I'm gonna get my extra check what.

Speaker 6 (44:46):
You said, phone calls and more football score predictions, and
we'll get ready for Monday night football prime time.

Speaker 2 (44:54):
So from now we'll be getting it from that is
Cowboys dot com.

Speaker 4 (45:00):
Don't give it to the name spot, bring them nothing,
don't bring this.

Speaker 6 (45:06):
Next, don't hurting Nothing's like you're listening to the guy
that didn't bring us nothing.

Speaker 7 (45:15):
He brought Nate something nothing.

Speaker 10 (45:19):
Who's your boy?

Speaker 9 (45:25):
Out of whatever is given to me, I give to
the people that is given to So is that.

Speaker 7 (45:32):
Unless it's unless it's.

Speaker 9 (45:35):
So Now, let's just bring it all to Let's just.

Speaker 4 (45:37):
Bring it all to the I.

Speaker 9 (45:39):
Didn't bring the shirt in here yesterday because they didn't

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
