We won the game, and we won the dog. All right,

Speaker 3 (02:09):
And but the biggest game of all is tonight. Hecma
Harrison Saxy Mustangs playing in the high school football playoffs.
Yeah forty tonight, Yeah, yeah, I got a vested interest
in that one.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
I do. I am.

Speaker 6 (02:24):
I am partial to one kid on that squad, so
he always have my refrigerator.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
You know.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
And ever sin he's thinking about going to his Alma
Maters game at Chuck Taws Stadium, which is the newer
name for the old ballpark in Arlington where the Rangers
used to play.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
I didn't.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
I informed him that's where the game is now. He's
contemplating whether he wants to drive, darl I'm watch if
I if I.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Go anywhere, I'm going there if I go, if he
goes anywhere.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
If he goes.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
I went. Last night, it was almost the game of.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
The year, Fighting Farmers of Lewisville against the second ring
team in the state, Allen. They almost pulled off the shock.

Speaker 8 (03:06):
And with it, and with six minutes to go, the
Fighting Farmers were up fifteen fourteen. Wow, to the shock
of the thousands of Allen fans and the head coach.
He ran out on the field arguing a call in
the second half, twenty five yards to face up with

(03:27):
the head official.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Of course.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
Do you think they threw a flag?

Speaker 2 (03:30):
No, no, absolutely not no.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Not on Allen covers these high school games, talking about
he's seen for himself.

Speaker 7 (03:40):
I'm the yellows you're about to get throwing out.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
They they were going down their leg at that point
with six.

Speaker 6 (03:53):
It was fourteen. It was fourteen. Oh, I think at halftime.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
In fourteen to three they fourteen three. Okay, go right at.

Speaker 8 (03:59):
The big getting in the second half and then they
scored a touchdown and got a turnover and set up
another touchdown. Six minutes to go, it was fifteen to fourteen,
and the Alan drove down as you would expect, scored
a touchdown, got the two point in version, and here

(04:19):
comes Lewisville. They got to about the thirty five yard line.
The quarterback got flushed out of the pocket. He takes off,
he's gonna run for the first down.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
He gets hit from behind and fum oh that.

Speaker 8 (04:34):
Kid took a ever loving beating because they could not
block Allan's front.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
And Trey Williams the quarterback for Lewisville. So keep an
eye on him as he goes forward.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Boy, he hung in there.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
I give a good quarterback.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 8 (04:48):
When it was over, I stood up and gave him
a standing ovation. The Cowboys could learn something from watching
that game. They were in over their heads, but they
didn't give up.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
They kept playing.

Speaker 8 (05:01):
Uh and uh it was it was, it was, It
was really really good.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
Got me excited.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
I'll tell you what. The high school football in Texas,
once it gets to the playoffs, there is some real
Yes it is, it's entertaining.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Play what five more?

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Yes, it's six weeks long? Is the is the postseason?

Speaker 6 (05:24):
Ah?

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Another season?

Speaker 8 (05:25):
You could be ten and oh right, yeah, but you
better play take anything.

Speaker 6 (05:30):
Us go ball season. Everybody knows it. And when it
comes down to this part of the year. What I
enjoy the most is seeing those season coaches coach circles around,
guys like Randy Allen and Holland Park, you know, and
the advantage that they always have is he's usually the
best coach in the stadium everywhere he goes, and if

(05:50):
it's a close ball game, you best believe he is
going to find a way to out coach the other guy.
And just having a conversation with him about the two
minute time out. They the two minute time out now
in high school football. They didn't have that before. So
that's another added dimension of difficulty to everything that's going on.
And so if you think about these coaches that burn

(06:10):
timeouts and don't have good clock management, that too many
timeout I promise you at the state finals, it's going
to cost somebody a title.

Speaker 8 (06:18):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
I'll tell you what. Going back over twenty years, twenty
plus years, the trickle up effect in football, what you're
seeing in the National Football League with the spread offenses
and all that stuff, it all started Texas high school football.
They were doing it. And I was just thinking about
watching Matthew Stafford and what he's done now in the
last three games, four touchdown passes in three straight games,

(06:42):
first time it's ever been done in NFL history. That
guy out of Highland Park High School playing for Randy Allen.
The number of quarterbacks that have come out of this
state to play in the NFL is just remarkable.

Speaker 7 (06:57):
I've actually seen Holland Park play in high Park m hm, and.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
I see why they win.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
Well, I'll tell you what's the.

Speaker 7 (07:05):
Team is out numbered if you've got a few referees out.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
I was there.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
No, that's against south Lake Carol, And that was at
s m U.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
S speaking about numbers, speaking about you.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Anyways, against South Lake, an on side kick call somehow
went the Dragons somehow, somehow.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
D board backing on the side of the river.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
And then uh the Reginald Samples. Samples wound up going
to Duncanville and he's a bit multiple state champions.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
The other side of the tracks.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yeah, yeah, still is still river. That's funny.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
That's funny. Okay, now we come back to the nation.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
We're here for, right, that's right?

Speaker 3 (08:04):
And what do we need to know as I see
that a football team is going to be on a
football field here within the next hour at one o'clock.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
They already already had a walk through. They were already
out there.

Speaker 7 (08:17):
Okay, he's got a blue pen over this, fine, that's
gonna bother.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Heck, in my schedule says at one o'clock practice, it
is okay, but walk through pre practice walk through.

Speaker 8 (08:30):
Yeah, they were and practice yesterday for the first time
since they played a game.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
So that was a step in the right direction. I'm
gonna keep breathing.

Speaker 6 (08:42):
My question is, how do you keep up with it?
I can't keep a paying exactly. How do you keep
up the ones.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
You don't want to keep up with?

Speaker 7 (08:48):
You find them everywhere, right when you're looking for your
favorite one, You'll never be able to find it.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Well, you lose them there you go.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (08:54):
So yeah, And it was the first day that the
players faced the media, and they brought out select guys
to talk. They didn't open the locker room, which I
thought was a good move, especially for you TV guys
going in there and shooting the empty locker or whatever.

(09:16):
And guys, you know, I don't know how they were
reacting in the locker room, but the guys that came
out and did the stand up interviews out in the
Ford Center. I thought handled it awfully well, awfully classy
the things they said, And I think that's what's going
to happen again today for player interviews, no shoddy practice

(09:38):
at one o'clock.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Any injury news updates, guys.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Full participants yesterday, full participants, de Barbian Overshown, Salon and Revel,
full participants in practice.

Speaker 8 (09:51):
I'll probably get to see my boy, well maybe sooner
than you think h's count Yeah, I'm sure. They had
a bunch of limited guys. And the one that just
still bothers me that he's limited is Tyler Smith. I
hate that there's a reason, right, he's trying to play

(10:12):
through something. But a good news limited was Donovan Wilson
and the Lee Cooker. We're both out there in practice,
so that was a that was a good sign.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Juan y A.

Speaker 8 (10:26):
Thomas and we know they put him on injured reserve
or non football injury, I guess.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
Yeah. So yeah, if you know the new guys.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
And that's the other thing, Okay, so you don't have
to go buy a program. Ninety two is Quinn Williams
and fifty five is Logan Wilson. Okay, yeah too, And
they were out there practicing. It seems like it's forever
ago since the trade.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
It does.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
But that was the first time they've been on the
practice field with the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Loved yesterday. He looked good in the cowboy uniform, Quentin
quin Williams.

Speaker 8 (11:04):
Yeah, so did Logan Wilson, by the way, wearing fifty five.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Yeah, that sounds to the chagrin of.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
Baron on the practice squad and he had to give
up his number.

Speaker 8 (11:14):
But yeah, fifty five looked like was it Jack del Reel?

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Why did you give it to Jack?

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Well?

Speaker 5 (11:22):
No, no, I'm saying fifty five like a old line back.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Yeah, yeah, but don't pick Jack.

Speaker 5 (11:28):
I mean, well, I just came to my mind, just all.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
The people I'll play pay tribute to the late.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
Rio.

Speaker 8 (11:40):
The fives look like del Rio's Okay, Okay, I didn't
I don't remember Leroy Jordan's playing, okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Can I stop you guys before you do it?

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Please do it?

Speaker 6 (11:53):
Okay, because we were about to do it and I
want to stop you. Do you think, oh, yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
I saw the I saw the car turning. Yeah, come back,
but what about fifty Four'll do it?

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Oli? Do you guys feel about David Edwards.

Speaker 6 (12:08):
Do you guys feel that being off ten days that
this team will show uh some rust on Monday? Are
you expecting any rust from the squad obviously with the
playing time off, but also with the additional time off because.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
Of the track Yesterday, that's a great question. Yesterday I
posed it to Will McLay. We did our little telestrators
segment for Cowboys Huddle and uh in regards to Dak
and the receivers more than anything, and I said, Okay,
how big of a concern is it that ten days
with for the quarterback and the receivers? Now we don't know.

(12:44):
Dak wasn't asked about it yesterday. It was all about
Marshan But uh, you know, he's got a football field
in his backyard. They could have come over and be
throwing the ball whatever, you know, and so but and but,
as Will said, okay, they've got four days. Basically, I said,
yes day, four days to get ready to play the game.
And he felt like this deep in the season, after

(13:05):
being together throwing for three months since the start a
training camp, that there won't be any effect.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Well, the pause only cost them probably one day.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Right, because they weren't going to be off of the field.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
Everybody's got it.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
They were going to be back Monday, not doing anything,
really working out on their own.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Tuesday would have been a day off, and.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
So that Wednesday was when one day that.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
Yeah, I think the rest that you have to worry about.

Speaker 7 (13:32):
The guys that are just coming back, that's what you're
worry about more than anything.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
Of course, they are.

Speaker 5 (13:36):
The guys who haven't played that are trying to come back.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
That's what I'm talking about. That's the one I'm talking about.

Speaker 7 (13:40):
The guy those guys that h like you said, the
front line, offensive line, got a few guys trying to
come back and.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
And show it up and have a little cohesiveness going.
You might have an issue.

Speaker 7 (13:56):
You know what, I don't think you should have an
issue on the defensive line because with the infusion of
this talent, you can't do worse.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
You can't do worse.

Speaker 7 (14:06):
You can't come out there with Quinnon and with Wilson
and go oh man, we just gave up two hundred
rushing yards. That cannot happen. So I'm looking forward to
the improvement from.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
That side of the ball as well.

Speaker 7 (14:18):
So you know, I look forward to us being really
kind of itching to go, like really ready to go,
because so much has gone on that has nothing to
do with football, and you know they've spent their time
and efforts on that the way they should be and
now let's get back to it.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
They should be healthier with the time off.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
No, And I'm just thinking about the tangibles of you know, look,
the time off, like I said, maybe it was just
twenty four hours that they got off because of it.
But then you bring in guys that are new to
your scheme and your system, no matter how familiar they
are with previous coaches, and that all the continuity these
guys jeling as well. And so look Quinn Williams Logan
Wilson being on the field. You know, I expect for

(14:59):
these guys to hit the ground running in Jerry's words,
with other guys that are coming, but you're also getting
Demo into the into that and Savone revel.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Who we ordan You don't that's a gray area.

Speaker 6 (15:12):
You don't know what this young man is going to
look like, although they know they've had our opportunity. But
to cowboy fans, you have no idea what you're gonna
give to me when.

Speaker 7 (15:20):
It comes to that secondary just if we just first
of all, and I'm not trying to be funny about this,
just find out where we're supposed to be, find out
what you know what not to do.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
And that's the basis of a good defense. You know,
there are certain.

Speaker 7 (15:33):
Things in every call that you have when when I
make this call, this cannot happen.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
When I make this call, that cannot happen.

Speaker 7 (15:42):
As long as he knows where those those lamb mines are,
he should be fine. And then now from there it
just it's a matter of just taking over and playing
from your natural abilities.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
Did you have a conversation with Nate this morning?

Speaker 4 (15:55):
I did not. What did they say?

Speaker 8 (15:57):
We were talking about this experienced safeties returning and his
point was, well, maybe they'll be where they're supposed to
be when they're supposed to be there instead of guys freelancing.
Know what your assignment is and do what you're supposed
to do, and.

Speaker 7 (16:14):
If nothing else, it will give you a chance to
make a play.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Right. You can't make a play if you're in the wrong.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
Or if you're freelancing, or if you don't know right
you're running.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Like running down the field like we were doing early
in the season. Hey, what are we doing? Who's that guy?

Speaker 7 (16:29):
Yeah, as long as we have that going on, that's
half the battle. One.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
From there, your.

Speaker 7 (16:34):
Instincts take over as a player, and that should be
to me, that should be the way a professional team
is run.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
And if you have a coach like eba Flus and
all these guys.

Speaker 7 (16:44):
That we've been bragging on all this time, somehow the
communication has to click to where we're all on the
same page, because right now we are not on the
same page. Bringing these new guys in, that's hopefully that's
the beginning of us researching intensively and man, take this
pressure off our offense, because I promise you guys, you

(17:05):
got your offense cavin the load too much.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
That's why. That's how the injuries pile up. That's how
they pile up, putting them in very stressful situations, unduly
stressful situations.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
And Malie Cooker, they just started the twenty one day window.
What are the chances of him? I mean they could
activat him for Monday, they could wait the week, he
could wait wait up to three weeks.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
He's playing. He's playing, right, I'm saying it.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
I can't know these guys right, he knows.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
So I wanted to ask you that in advance of
asking this question. So, of the six new guys on
the defense that are going to be active for the
game on Monday, because Schottenheimer basically said yesterday that he
expects Revel to play, We'll see how many snaps it is,
but he basically indicated be less than Overshown because he's

(17:59):
a rookie. What okay, So, of the six the new guys,
Quinn Williams, Logan Wilson, marve On, Overshown, savone, Rebel, Donovan, Wilson,
Malie Cooker, who makes the biggest difference on this defense
on Monday night?

Speaker 2 (18:19):
That's easy, that's easy. Okay, take out, take him out.

Speaker 5 (18:27):
Agreements it's too We're in agreement.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
Quinn Williams, Right, Who's number two?

Speaker 4 (18:34):
I gotta go with Wilson.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
I was going with Wilson, Logan wil we need.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Yeah, yeah, Yet to Wilson's loganov or logan yeah, logan Wilson.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
I mean, once again, he's out running back. The line
linebacker is a running back on the defense. He has
to hit the hole, and that hole has not been
hit for a minute. He has to hit it.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
You know, I think there are a lot of fans
out there because they love him so much.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
They oh yeah, but you don't know how many snaps exactly.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
There's such a well, yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
These guys question mark on how much they win they
have been playing.

Speaker 4 (19:08):
Yeah, that's the difference. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's the difference.
To me.

Speaker 7 (19:12):
I wouldn't say that if it were like he hadn't
been practicing all year, you know.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Or is it.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Or is it the veteran safety is while we were
just talking about the veteran safety is just getting everybody
lined up right.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Well, that would be more more of a nuanced thing.

Speaker 7 (19:29):
But as far as making a huge impact, obvious impact,
it's going to be those two players.

Speaker 8 (19:35):
I think they kind of ease over shown in, see
how it's going, and then make a decision.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Fly I'm thirty eight sage zero.

Speaker 8 (19:45):
So you're you expect and that's probably the way that
he started exactly.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
And linebackers expect Wilson and Murray to be the linebackers,
and over Shown is worked in. Yeah, maybe in the
leofol Or, I mean he's a Sam but or is
he sub packages in.

Speaker 8 (20:04):
The Shamar James role? Because they were playing Murray and
James when they were in their nickel.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
Yeah, it's like, don't forget about James. We just flustered.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Come on, one thing about Logan Wilson his career. I
mean you look at his picks, his past defense. Yeah,
apparently has been pretty good in his career.

Speaker 8 (20:21):
You know the other guy that gets forgotten about when
they're talking about the defensive tackles with Clark and now Williams,
Oh Solomon Solomon Thomas has been pretty good. Really, you know,
if you look at his tackle total pressures very silently,
he's been really good. And he was really good yesterday
handling the questions.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
Do you know?

Speaker 6 (20:43):
You know the guy I think really is going to
benefit from all this is Davion Clowney. That's a good point,
my Mandavi Clowney, I think, okay.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
Let's let's get into that when we come back. Okay,
the guys that are who've been on this team and
on this defense, who benefits the most, You've say, Clowney.
I'll throw another one out there when we come back
here on mixed shots.

Speaker 9 (21:06):

Twenty five dollars five dollars.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
It ain't my read. I didn't write it.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Then, okay, Bill, you remember where we were?

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Yeah, well where were we impact players? That?

Speaker 5 (24:45):
Who benefits the most?

Speaker 4 (24:46):
Okay? Now you go there you go?

Speaker 3 (24:48):
Who benefits the most from Quentin Williams? Basically? Is that
what we're saying? Yes, who benefits the most from Quentin Williams?
So expound on Jadavion Clowney.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
Well, I think David Clowney is been over the last
couple of games, you've been seeing more of you know,
he's turned the clock back a little bit. But he's
just one of those guys that I think, as far
as the rotational piece with guys like Solomon Damas, that
his impact on the game can be huge. I mean,
we hadn't got it, and you know, we've been waiting

(25:19):
on guys like Dante Fowler. Obviously we're waiting on our
rookie as a roku who's coming on as well. So
guys like that I just think from the outside, because
of the push that you get with the inclusion of
Quinn Williams, I really do believe that, you know, Davian
Clowney should in those specialty packages, especially if it's just
penierers back, come out to the quarterback man.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
He should, he should shine.

Speaker 7 (25:43):
If you're talking about showing up the inside, they have
nowhere else to go in response, and that to me,
should bode well for the guys on the outside. I
think it makes our their offense, the opposing offense a
little bit more predictable.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
When you know where your strengths are are on the inside.
On the defensive line, I don't I forgot all about
Dante Fowler. I don't know what's going on with him.

Speaker 7 (26:07):
But in regards to Clowning, I thought that Clowney, I
don't know what his numbers have been looking like lately,
but I have seen him, I have seen his presence
out there. I don't know how much of a of
a difference it made, but I do think that with
Clowney being on the outside, quinnen and with Wilson inside,

(26:28):
you have no choice but to go outside, and that's
where our defensive ends. They should flourish.

Speaker 5 (26:34):
How about taking a load off Kenny Clark.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
I'm hoping that.

Speaker 7 (26:40):
I thought Kenny Clark was the one that's supposed to
take the load off everything.

Speaker 8 (26:43):
Ever, they were double teaming, okay, so maybe Williams drawing
double team.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
And they're going to be down there together and he
can defeat them.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
So who's who do they line up first play?

Speaker 4 (26:56):
We kind of we kind of talked about this yesterday.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
Question.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
Yeah, Now, the Raiders use a lot of too tight
end stuff, But do you view Brouck Bowers as a
tight end or is he a wide receiver?

Speaker 5 (27:07):
Put my corner back on him?

Speaker 6 (27:09):
Yeah, yeah, I know, I safe can Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
That's yeah.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
We don't want to be in his own because he'll
tear up his own.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
I see him as a wide receiver.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
I think they view they just be hearing will McLeay
tell her illustraight, some of this stuffs.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
On him.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
You'd rather put a big dB on him?

Speaker 2 (27:30):
And who is that? Right?

Speaker 7 (27:33):
I mean right now, the only one, the only big
one you have is Rebel. That's the only big one
you have right now.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
I don't want to bring it back just straight off
the street.

Speaker 7 (27:42):
Across the size that's the biggest one we have at
this point.

Speaker 5 (27:46):
Better than asking mccover Jerry Rice.

Speaker 7 (27:49):
Well, yeah, anyways, better than that.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
Yeah, you break it up.

Speaker 7 (27:56):
But if you're going to put a corner on him
being better, be a hell of a corner. Maybe a
linebacker with some athletic ability. I don't know if we
have that, a guy that can keep up with a
tight end like that.

Speaker 8 (28:09):
But Shamar James can run with him, but does he
have the wherewithal the knowing?

Speaker 3 (28:15):
So if they come out four man front on defense
because they've been using that five.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
Yeah, they try to ignore your question, Bill again.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Four man front and you're lining up a defensive end
clowney in is a roku? Who your two.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Tackles Kenny Clark and Quinn Williams.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
I would do that, and then you bring in Osa
and Salt.

Speaker 7 (28:33):
That's what you're talking about, Yes, yeah, bringing in in
like Nickel situations, Yes, second and long third.

Speaker 5 (28:40):
There's a good inside rusher.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Okay, what do you think.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
Who would you take out? Clark?

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Boy?

Speaker 7 (28:52):
I take our clock if if it's his choice. Williams, Oh, Clark.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
And who's gonna and Quinn is going to get the
most snaps? Assuming I mean he's had he's had two
straight bye weeks. He's rested, and he's healthy, and and uh,
they're playing indoors, you know.

Speaker 4 (29:10):
So that's a good one too, playing indoors.

Speaker 6 (29:13):
But then we tinker with the idea of OSA at
defensive end. We talked about that a little bit.

Speaker 5 (29:19):
Yes, Clark Clark was out there a couple of snaps.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
I didn't I didn't know it.

Speaker 5 (29:24):
I think it was Kenny Clark.

Speaker 8 (29:25):
Okay, okay, But then you know, you still got Sam
Williams still trying to you know, not give up on him.

Speaker 5 (29:32):
Uh, and they've moved him inside.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
That's a shame U a bit. I even mention Sam Williams.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
Wow, and he's been making some place he's not to.

Speaker 8 (29:47):
He made a play, Yeah, he hasn't done.

Speaker 7 (29:52):
With So who would be our linebackers? Then once again
we all we talked about the line.

Speaker 5 (29:57):
Who's who, Well, Murray, Logan Wilson and.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Then Wilson has the green.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Don you know?

Speaker 5 (30:06):
Murray had it when he was on the outside.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
When the only thing that would keep Wilson from is
because he just has one practice under his belt right now. Yeah,
but he could repeat the call, well he can, but
still that's not difficult.

Speaker 7 (30:21):
The calls, if based on this infusion of new players,
the calls will probably be They will continue to be
pretty simple.

Speaker 6 (30:29):
Why Murray over Shamar James as far as I mean,
what has he done production wise?

Speaker 2 (30:36):
That would say to you, I mean.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
I'm just going by I'm going by what the coaches
have done so far. He's barely come off the field ever, Murray.

Speaker 5 (30:45):
Because he leads a team with sixty seven tackles.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
And he's a six year veteran.

Speaker 5 (30:50):
Although James is right behind.

Speaker 8 (30:52):
With it's and he probably hadn't played as many snacks.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
No, he wasn't playing the first few games whatever.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
Although Murray leads to know he's second in tackles for losses.

Speaker 6 (31:04):
Look, I think you went into you went into free
agency to get a linebacker because of the production in
the way that your linebackers was. Look, we're looking and
Logan Wilson is a part of the resolution, and I wouldn't.
I don't know, And I've given the excuse that maybe
he was playing out of position, but I just mean
Kennith Murray playing out of position. That's why I say

(31:25):
it's it's just you see, like Shamar James is kind
of being pushed out or seeing he's that rotational piece,
and I'm asking why isn't Kenneth Murray being looked at
in that in that breath.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
I always thought James is better. I don't know, that's
just my opinion.

Speaker 5 (31:39):
Well, he's got his better. I mean I think faster, bigger, stronger.
I don't know about bigger, stronger.

Speaker 8 (31:48):
Uh, he's faster, but does he know what to do
because there's been some situations when he's been in That's.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
What I would look at his twenty one year old rookie.
He lost guys.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
Yeah, and he's only played three years ago.

Speaker 6 (32:01):
Well, it's gonna be a difference out there with him now,
with the guys that they have up front, he's not
going to be coming through as much trash as he
was before. So that's what I want to see from
the linebacker.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
They are what we don't know, and well never we
never know because we're not in the meetings. We're not
we don't know what they're assigned to do.

Speaker 6 (32:19):
One place, well, we know what they're not assigned to do,
and that's be pushed fifteen yards off the ball.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
But maybe that's maybe that happened because they did the
wrong thing and so they were out of position, or
they were lighting up.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
Maybe they'm Mazzie Smith.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
So no, point point is we can all we can
do is just sit here and we look at filming.
We have no idea what they're assigned to do on
a play.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
And so no, Bill, I'm not gonna let you get
away with this. Bill.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
No, I'm just no, I'm not defending Kenneth Murber. I
couldn't care less.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
No, No, I mean what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
Is I'm just saying we do not know. Now. You know,
when Sewn Lee plays, he beats. He you can tell
he knows what he's doing, he's going to and he
has the ability to shed a block and get in
the hole. We haven't seen that with these linebackers. And
so the only thing that I'm saying is the fact

(33:15):
that Murray's been on the field tells me ebra Flus
has more confidence in Murray than he does. I mean,
he's had a month here since Shamar started playing to
reverse them and have Shamar be on the field for
sixty five snaps and Murray less time.

Speaker 6 (33:31):
But so has kyer Elm and a lot of guys
that's out of.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
Out of necessity as well.

Speaker 6 (33:38):
I just feel like when we when we think about
a linebacker and you talk about Sean Lee, just exactly
what you were saying, seeing a running back, excuse me,
a linebacker mirror what the running back is doing and
coming downhill. We hadn't seen our linebackers play that way,
and so when I think about Logan Wilson in his edition,
I expect him to be reactionary like that to meet

(33:59):
a guy. I'm just saying, on the other side, now
you have a young guy that may be able to
be freed up because he's not being cut off by
the guard of the tackle coming down on him. Because
of the addition of Quentin Williams and now Kenny Clark
didn't have to battle with double teams.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
That was I would just love to have a conversation
with Burganzi linebacker's coach, Ibra Flus, and find out the
truth on what's going on, because we we just sit
here and speculate.

Speaker 8 (34:25):
Were snaps over the last four games. Yeah, James against
Carolina sixty Murray sixty seven against Washington, so.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
It's basically even there.

Speaker 8 (34:39):
James sixty six, Murray sixty seven against Denver James sixty
Murray sixty three and against Arizona fifty eight James sixty
seven Murray.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
So that is so, I mean they're both we was
both out there and one or the other right right,
And so Murray's been playing the mic and Shamar has
been playing the will. Well, now Logan Wilson's playing the mic,
and now we're going to find out okay, and some
of them you got over shown in there too and
some now we're going to find out who the will is.

Speaker 8 (35:17):
And some of that had to do with Sanborn being out,
so they played.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
But they had already made the decision in the middle
and Shamar before Sanborn got had his concussion. Yes, they
had already made the decision. And that's what I'm saying
is they made the decision to continue with Murray and
Sanborn had fewer reps, and Shamar took that, took those snaps,
and then Sanborne got hurt, and so basically it became

(35:44):
an even Stephen deal.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
So now.

Speaker 3 (35:48):
We see how they really feel about the linebackers.

Speaker 7 (35:51):
And you know, we haven't really shown any improvement against
them run, so you know, this whole experiment they we're
having right now, I just can't wait to see what
the outcome is going to be, because when you inject
these guys in to me, this is besides clowning, you know,
which was really just a little drop in the bucket

(36:13):
at this point. Besides that, I'm looking for this to
make a big splash. I cannot wait to see how
this changes our entire defense. I can't wait to see
who it improves or who it impacts in a more
positive way.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
That's what I'm looking for, that kind of.

Speaker 7 (36:29):
Team, and now I want our defense to be as
responsible as we want to hold our offense to that
type of responsible.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
And against this Raiders offense, they should be a bull.
Even though Ashton Gent's a really good running back, but
he's a rookie and he doesn't have a great offensive
line in front of him, and so they should be
able to control the run game.

Speaker 5 (36:50):
Well, do you want some snats?

Speaker 8 (36:52):
Let's go with that fact, going backwards with the run
defense one nineteen, one seventy nine, I ain't one thirty
six to sixteen, one forty four, one sixty four. And
when we got to Game three Chicago eighty seven the

(37:12):
Giants eighty four in Philadelphia one fifty eight.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
So you're saying there's a chance.

Speaker 8 (37:19):
So there's only two games less than one hundred and
nineteen yards rushing boy all season long?

Speaker 2 (37:26):
Yeah, nowhere to go but up.

Speaker 6 (37:28):
I mean, I think regardless of whoever plays it, I'm
just one of them to be one.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Of those, one of those games. Russell Wilson, third street,
quarterback for the Giants, Fast forward thirty yards. That's why
they didn't run.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
For more than you know, That's what I was praying.

Speaker 5 (37:44):
That twenty two to be exact.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Caleb Williams having those deep balls and Caleb Williams was
throwing too.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
That didn't run because they ain't have to.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
That's right, all right. You know what we have to
do next. I have to make Yeah have.

You got nothing, I got nothing?

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Wow, heck, what time is it?

Speaker 4 (41:10):
Oh me, I'll go first. One, I'll go first. I'll
go first.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
We're gonna we're gonna end on time. Well, that'd be
a first.

Speaker 4 (41:17):
No, We're not gonna.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
No, we won't.

Speaker 4 (41:18):
I'm sure Bill will make sure that doesn't. All right,
So here we go go look up.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
I gotta go look up past scores between the Greaders
and Cowboys before I make how much today I.

Speaker 7 (41:30):
Have to I have to saw now so he can
finally get his narrative together. All right, So I'm looking
at us to get back on track offensively. I don't
think that defense can stand up to our offense. I'd
be extremely surprised if whatever happened on the other side
of the ball for us, that it will affect our
offense so badly to where we can't still produce the

(41:54):
way we're supposed to on offense. So I'm looking at
a score Cowboys winning thirty five to sixteen, and I
have my boy or yo boy pickings.

Speaker 6 (42:08):
Ah, you took GV. All right, what you what you're saying?
What is he gonna do to TDS? Two touchdowns?

Speaker 4 (42:15):
Two touchdowns by pick? He should? He should have a
field day. Yes, he should feast.

Speaker 2 (42:21):
Yes she should.

Speaker 7 (42:22):
Just with a size differential. You know, I always talk
about it CD. You know, he's the route guy. But
when it comes to fifty fifty balls, ain't nobody better?

Speaker 4 (42:32):
Nobody's better?

Speaker 2 (42:33):
All right? You guys got your notes together? Should I go? Now?

Speaker 4 (42:36):
Go ahead?

Speaker 2 (42:36):
All right?

Speaker 6 (42:37):
So listen, this is this is one of those games.
I expect for my Dallas Cowboys to go into Las
Vegas with a can of whoop, you know what. It's
been building up all week and I expect for them
to open that can on Vegas. My score, and I'm
expecting this to be when I say can of whoop whatever.

(42:57):
But I'm going with a low score on this. I'm
I'm thinking that it's a twenty one fifteen games something
like that.

Speaker 4 (43:05):
Yeah, you're gonna get me.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
I can't put something like that, you think if you're positive?

Speaker 6 (43:14):
Yeah, yeah, So twenty one fifty twenty one, fifteen fifteen,
and I'm taking Since you took my boy, I'm gonna
take his I'm going with Cavante Turpin.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
I think Cavante Turpin has a time.

Speaker 6 (43:28):
I'm saying, I think it's time for Cavante Turping to
take something back to the house. I think special teams
was gonna help you win this game. It'll be close,
but Cavante turps and cracks it wide open.

Speaker 4 (43:40):
Bench your spags right now, just.

Speaker 5 (43:41):
Like hopefully it gets a little more help from the blocking.

Speaker 2 (43:45):
Yes, yes, it's been awful.

Speaker 5 (43:49):
Might pick?

Speaker 8 (43:50):
So I am taking the Cowboys twenty seven to twenty
and my pick to click because I see where I
don't know if this is cheating or not. The Vegas
quarterbacks have been sacked twenty seven times, so give me
Joe Davian Clowney is okay?

Speaker 2 (44:14):
Clowney twenty seven to twenty all right, Bill.

Speaker 5 (44:16):
Went twenty seven sacks.

Speaker 4 (44:18):
Twenty seven to twenty.

Speaker 3 (44:20):
Do you recall the last time the Cowboys played the Raiders?
I believe, so, okay, the preseason. What do you recall
about it? No, not in the preseason. Okay, in the
regular season. Last time they played them in the regular season.

Speaker 5 (44:35):
So it would have been twenty twenty.

Speaker 3 (44:37):
One, November twenty fifth. They beat him bad twenty twenty one,
which would have been Thanksgiving Day twenty twenty one. Oh,
that's four years ago. The Raiders beat the Cowboys thirty
six thirty three that day, game winning field goal twenty

(45:00):
nine yards. Daniel Carlson Cowboys head tight ends Sean McEwan
and Dalton Schultz with touchdown receptions. So am I gonna
take your boy?

Speaker 2 (45:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (45:13):
You might be, Jake Ferguson.

Speaker 2 (45:15):
You got to do it right, or take my boy?
You guys?

Speaker 3 (45:18):
Oh yeah, h b Kelsey Yeah, berg Kiss Kelsey, Kelsey.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
Yeah, come on? All three and one.

Speaker 3 (45:27):
Also in that game, though, Tony Pollard had a one
hundred yard kickoff return for a touchdown. So it's turpentine,
it might be, But I'm gonna go with payback for
the Cowboys thirty six thirty three. Okay, you recall the

(45:48):
last time the Cowboys played a preseason game in Las Vegas?
Was that last the kicker Brandon Aubrey, just days after
his wife gave birth, kicked sixty six yard field goal?

Speaker 2 (46:03):
Is that what it was?

Speaker 3 (46:04):
It was something in that range sixty five or sixty
six yard preseason in the preseason. Yep, this time game
winner overtime seventy yards, Brandon Aubrey OT my pick to
click in OT that was it was an OT win
for the Raiders thirty six, thirty three and twenty twenty one.

(46:27):
This is payback. So the additions on defense will benefit
this defense to the tune of one touchdown less than
the forty points the year.

Speaker 2 (46:38):
A lot to talk about. Oh man, what did you
thirty six?

Speaker 3 (46:42):
Thirty three?

Speaker 5 (46:43):
Oh thirty three?

Speaker 2 (46:44):
So the d line that they work a work in progress.

Speaker 3 (46:49):
Work in progress usually give up forty. This time we're
going to give up thirty three.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
We'll have Okay, that's improvement.

Speaker 8 (46:57):
I got who's going to produce those thirty three for
the Raiders?

Speaker 5 (47:03):
Gino Smith?

Speaker 3 (47:05):
Well maybe I mean they said the same, Yeah, other quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
It was gonna cut all right.

Speaker 3 (47:14):
One of my fantasy teams. I went several weeks where
I just took the quarterback that the Cowboys were playing
against arded him.

Speaker 4 (47:25):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (47:26):
That's how Jackson Dart became my quarterback waiting for them.

Speaker 4 (47:31):
Well he didn't learn too fast.

Speaker 5 (47:33):
All right, let's go get some soup.

Speaker 3 (47:35):
So and uh, you got anything to promote as far
as in Vegas or anything.

Speaker 8 (47:41):
We do have a Star Sports Tours reception at the
Cowboys Hotel in Vegas.

Speaker 5 (47:47):
Oy, well, you should have made the trip. You should
have made the trip.

Speaker 4 (47:51):
Come on, I thought we was tight.

Speaker 8 (47:53):
And then on next Saturday, behind Everson and I have one,
and then on Wednesday before thanks.

Speaker 3 (48:00):
Just make sure you so get your tickets. Now, make
sure you stay out of those casinos in Vegas.

Speaker 5 (48:05):
So don't you worry about that. Somebody will be watching
for me.

Speaker 8 (48:09):
As a matter of fact, like I told you, there
was one stipulation that if you had to walk through
the casino to get to the elevator and you were
passing the sports book, you had thirty seconds to get
through it.

Speaker 5 (48:25):
I promise, don't even look at it.

Speaker 4 (48:27):
I promise you.

Speaker 7 (48:29):
Back in the day, you little weasels would be hanging
around the casino looking to see if somebody can get
busted and all of that stuff.

Speaker 5 (48:38):
You guys, we're talking us. We're not talking the players.

Speaker 4 (48:42):
I'm talking I'm talking about it as a player.

Speaker 7 (48:44):
Oh, y'all'll be sneaking around down there, ready to dime
on somebody.

Speaker 4 (48:48):
Okay, back in the day they did.

Speaker 5 (48:51):
Well, you better start watching pictures.

Speaker 3 (48:52):
Then that's another story.

Speaker 4 (48:55):
That's a whole other story.

Speaker 3 (48:57):
Another time. All right, that does it for mixture. Let's
enjoy the game, and I say go Saxy Mustang, let's go.

Speaker 7 (49:05):
And Burner m ands all right, go Cowboys, Cowboy Nation.

Speaker 2 (49:09):
I hope your team wins.

Speaker 1 (49:11):
This has been a production of dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
