Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the fitting in with Her with Kate Richie podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Laugh's funny. He's going to be touring Australia from Febnicky.
We are so excited to have this man back in
the country. And when he comes to Australia, he I mean,
he's here for a while. Three months of touring. Now
you can get your tickets on someone out at Bone
Presents dot com dot are you Jimmy.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Carw look, come name why.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
I can't believe your luck. I've lowered myself for this
once again.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Jimmy Carr. The last time I saw you, you called
me a milf.
Speaker 5 (00:33):
Speaking of milf, though, what's the matter with her voice?
She sounds like it sounds like the project are doing
a seance and that's a voice from the other side.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
It doesn't sounds like I'm possessed. I can't believe I'm
talking to you like this and I never got to
thank you. It is the nicest thing anyone has ever
said to me, and I just want to acknowledge that
and thank you from the bottom of my life.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
What you prompted. You prompted me to have a change
in my life. I got my eyes lasered directly it's no,
I'm not not not that I would take anything away
from your I mean you still I still would, but
(01:22):
I would now call you a guilt right, which is
a guilf grandmother.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
All right, we're sliding. We are sliding here.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Oh you've ruined it all?
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Did you? Did you ruin it all? Is what the
girls normally says afterwards. Did you enjoy the project at
the time?
Speaker 2 (01:43):
We just found out after sixteen years of the project
is leaving us, Jimmy Carr, it's it's leaving our screens
or whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
What we do while we're making our team? Is it going? What?
What else are they going to do? What else they're
going to put on instead?
Speaker 6 (01:58):
I mean, they can't run a Jimmy Cars special at
a family friendly time.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
We know that much. I've seen your live show, Jimmy.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Well, I mean, Neighbors is ton The project is gone.
It's your cultural contribution to the world is diminishing.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
The bill took over. I think they're just going to
do reruns of that over here.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
That seems kind of crazy. That was kind of an institution.
It's a very nice thing to do to go and
do that show and let people know. I mean it's
you know, you guys have got I don't know you're
missing When it's gone, I'd say, what are you going
to do now? I mean that was your that was
your bred. No, what are you now? You're not going
to want the streets again, are you?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Yes, on the strength of being called a guilt I've
really got to I've got a street walker niche Jimmy Carthy, Yeah, no,
I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
It's quite quite specialist that some of the customers like it.
I'm looking for a more mature lady.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
I love that.
Speaker 6 (02:54):
Hey, Jimmy, you know what, I'm fascinated by it because
you're such an intelligent guy, and I love the show.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
I've seen the live shows.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Said but people are interested in what you have to
share on a serious level too, So you know, there
was part of this on Joe Rogan which I want
to talk about. But I've seen some of the moments
where you have to turn when you ask for questions
or comments from the audience. Someone might ask a serious
question and you've got to make the decision whether to
run with a comedy angle or go Do you want
(03:20):
me to.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Answer that seriously?
Speaker 6 (03:22):
Do you actually want me to answer that seriously, that
must be a bit tricky jumping from one to the other.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Not really. I mean I think in a show, I'll
maybe do two or threey serious moments and that's enough.
I never try and overdo it because I've kind of
got a side hustle going on podcast now and being
you know, a public intellectual. But that's just a product
of age once you've had like twenty five years in
shows and she goes, wow, I could you know, I
(03:48):
know something? I know a few and it feels like
there's a slight gap in the market for that at
the moment of going. I wrote this book a couple
of years ago called Before and Laughter, which was like
eck arc tolo for gummies, great like sort of like
a self help book, but for people that don't read
self help books. But you know, I think everything's better
with a bit of comedy. I think like life and
(04:10):
wisdom is much better if it's not too earnest. I
think you can take life. You can be very sincere
and not terribly serious, and that's a great mix for me.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah, that is a beautiful you know what we're talking about?
Speaker 6 (04:20):
Just on Joe Rogan old mate, Russell Crowe when he
spoke about going on the Joe Rogan and the experience
he had, I think he told us that he had
to sign off on the podcast recording going for not
only as long as Joe wanted to be, but a minimum.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Of three hours. Was that the experience?
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Yeah, I've done Joe a couple of times. I think, well,
there's an unwritten rule if you do Joe Rogan that
if it's less than three hours, I guess you didn't
do well. You know, it's meant to be that length
of a command. But actually there's there's nowhere to hide
in a three hour podcast. That's like that's your really,
it's kind of you become more authentic. I think that's
(05:00):
why some politicians don't want to do that show, because
they're scared if they go on it and they're just
you know, free wheeling and not doing kind of talking
points of it gives them away that the mark will slip.
So I think that's there's something really nice about it.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Is he is he a Grid interviewer?
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Jimmy, have you done Louis Thuru as well?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Who are the ones that stand out for you that
you really enjoyed going on podcasts and talking to.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
People, well, Joe Rogan, I think is a as a
cultural phenomenon and as a it's an interesting thing. Like
if you talk to most people, they will go our
people don't have the attention span these days. I would disagree.
I think people do have the attention span, but only
for good stuff. And if it's three hours long, they'll
listen to it. But they'll watch a TikTok video for
thirty seconds or twenty seconds because that's how good it is.
(05:47):
An amazing conversation with a kid recently by some friend
of mine's kids at fourteen, and I said, what's your
favorite song? And he went, whole song, the whole song,
just listen to bits. Oh my, he couldn't name a
whole song. I like the beginning bit of thy in rap.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
I've never heard the whole thing change.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
And yeah, that's one thing. But the other thing is
people want to listen to three and a half hours
of Joe Rogan talking to Eric Weinstein because it's fascinating
and it's authentic. It's a weird thing that I quite
liked the idea that these comics, these who are being authentically,
just being themselves. That's what people want. Authenticity. Because when
Megan Markle and Harry launch a podcast, or Obama and
(06:34):
Michelle it's guys as Death because people go, oh, it's
just some nonsense. They no need it's over produced. You
want it to be tell of Trollway.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah, it's a really good point.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
You are the busiest man on earth at the moment. Well, Jimmy,
you're coming to Australia starting at the end of Fibu.

eighth and March, and then the Sydney Coliseum on theater

Speaker 2 (06:59):

the world are you now performing?
Speaker 1 (07:03):
I'm in I'm in roll Country. I'm in the very
north of Norway, a place called Tronheim. So, and it
should be late at night and it isn't because it's
it's it's midnight and it's light outside what time the
sun does not set. It's sort of weird because I
thought we did two shows that came out of the
theater and it was sort of daylight. And he went, Okay,
(07:26):
I guess, I guess, I.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Guess that makes sense if that's what we're doing.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
It's lovely to do a properly global tour and I do.
I think forty seven countries on this tour. By the
time I get to you, I'll have the hang of it.
Speaker 6 (07:42):
I would imagine, Jimmy, we can't wait to be here
in Australia again.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Come and hang out in the studio, all right, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
I'll pop in And Kate is coming back, right, She's
not being replaced by this club to night.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
The milf is the milf is helping out, is coming back.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
You've got no because you've got young listeners and I
don't think they can relate to someone in her own.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
You're absolutely right. If I if I keep if I
keep working this much, it's really going to interfere with
my pension.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
You know, I think you should be You should be
thinking about doing little talks, maybe book gree spots on
on cruise ships.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
